Heartbeats
liam dunbar x reader
summary: heartbeats quicken every time stiles goes over a bump. scott is determined to find out why.
tags: mutual pining, crushes, nervousness, comfort (no hurt), some fluff, protective!scott
word count: 820
a/n: this is only the third time i'm writing for teen wolf, but the first for liam, so i'm nervous! go easy on me plz 🥹 (he's just so cute, i can't help but write a lil soft piece for him.)
Stiles takes a turn at a whopping forty miles an hour, making the whole Jeep rattle in discomfort. There’s a squeak somewhere, but all the occupants know better than to ask. Scott turns to the pair in the backseat, looking once again for the correlation between the rattling and the racing hearts he keeps picking up.
“You guys good?” He asks, offering a thumbs up.
Liam’s lip is slightly turned up with distaste at the question. You scrunch your nose.
“Define good,” you challenge.
Stiles is immediately offended. “She’s doing her best, guys. We’re almost there.”
He goes over another bump, causing another increase in heart rate, and earning another look from Scott.
Both of you look nothing but annoyed, giving him no signs of why it could be happening. There’s a slightly sweet scent in the air, but it’s not sticking out as anything important. For all he knows, there’s a carnival nearby. Scott can’t do anything but stare and wait for another bump. He hopes his betas continue to look out their respective windows and don’t feel his eyes on them.
“ETA?” He asks Stiles, hoping he can get in at least five more minutes of analysis.
“Five forty two. About ten more minutes.”
Good.
He takes another wicked turn without warning. Everyone bounces in their seats, and if you weren’t buckled in, you would’ve fallen into Liam’s lap.
“Stiles!”
“Sorry!”
“Warning next time!”
“The GPS barely warns me, I don’t have time to warn you! Wear your seatbelt.”
“I am!”
“Well then hold on better!”
“Ugh!” You send Liam an apologetic look. “Sorry.”
“It’s okay.”
Scott watches from the rearview mirror. Liam’s heart jumped at the sudden turn, and rose again slightly at your apology. Yours, on the other hand, is still beating out of your chest since the turn. He cocks his head.
“Left!” Stiles yells while making the turn. At least he tried this time.
“Shit,” you mutter, grabbing the handle on the ceiling. Your knee still hits Liam’s, though, making both your hearts sputter.
Scott turns quickly, realization hitting him. His leather jacket scrapes the seat, causing a disruptive sound that catches both of your attentions.
“What?”
He only stares, ignoring your question.
“Another left!”
The cycle repeats. Your knees touch and your hearts race. That’s the correlation.
Every time you and Liam touch, you both get nervous.
That explains the smell in the air.
“What?” You repeat.
For a while, Scott’s theorized you’d fall for each other. You’re the same age and both full of a charisma that he adores. You mess with each other all the time, but also find comfort in one another. Liam’s taken it upon himself to guide and protect you whenever Scott’s not there. He’s also been helping you control your turns.
But as cute as it is… he’s not sure how he feels about his betas being together like that. He suddenly feels like a mom getting overprotective of his kids when they start taking an interest in dating. His nose twitches.
“Right!”
This time, Liam falls into you and stutters out the quickest apology he can muster. Your cheeks heat up as you assure him it’s okay, then you both let your eyes drop to the ground.
“Tunnel!”
Blackness overtakes you as the Jeep barrels into an unexpected tunnel. Stiles’ driving is already questionable, and suddenly so much more so in the complete darkness.
“Oh god,” you mutter, fear wafting off you.
Unbeknownst to Scott, Liam takes your hand for reassurance. He holds it tightly and whispers you’ll be okay. Scott can sense the comfort easing your mind, taking over your fear. When out of the tunnel, he checks his rearview to see your hands clasped, and can’t help but smile. Your shoulders are touching, and Liam draws a shape on your palm that makes you giggle. Scott’s seen him do it before, when you need a distraction from turning, but he didn’t expect to see it now. Before he can ask if you’re okay, Stiles hits something in the road and the Jeep shakes again.
“Sorry! Big rock!”
Liam quickly makes another shape, returning the smile to your face. The smell of fear is heavily outweighed by the sugary sweet smell of lovesickness. And while your hearts remain racing, no discomfort weighs on either of you. Scott studies for a moment longer, but relaxes at the absence of any claws.
“You guys good?”
“We’re fine,” you reply, tone slightly cheery.
“Okay, just making sure.” He tries to play it off like he hadn’t seen anything, but ironically, it seems the two of you haven’t seen him watching at all.
“We’re here,” Stiles announces, slamming on the breaks. The car and all its occupants lurch forward, and Scott smiles this time, knowing why the two hearts in the backseat are going so quickly. Some of it is Stiles’ driving, but definitely not all.
“Alright, let’s do this.”

out of the woods: theo raeken.
1989 (Heartbreak Grill’s Version)
looking at it now it all seems to simple. we were lying on your couch. i remember.
“i have to go.”
theo groaned as the words left my lips. his arms, wrapped securely around my waist, tightened their grip as he inhaled a hopeless breath.
“no,” he nudged my neck with his nose, eliciting a soft giggle from me. “no, stay, please.”
“theo,” i wriggled away from his ticklish touches, “i have to go.”
i tried to remove myself from his grasps, but he was strong. his large, warm hands, slid over my bare stomach, gripping onto my hips. he pressed my back into the mattress, as my wrestling arms came to rest on his shoulders. he had been growing out his hair and now it hung low enough to ghost over my collarbones. i shivered as the strands drug across my skin, theo’s lips attached to my neck.
“theo,” i persisted, “scott gets off at 8. he’s going to come into my room and check if i’m there. when i’m not, he’s going to notify every single supernatural within a thirty mile radius, and every policeman within the county. they will be on your doorstep by 8:15, and i will be dead.”
as i spoke, i continued to try to fight theo’s strong hold, lifting my body from the mattress, and pushing back at his shoulders. my words seemed like a good enough threat to get him moving.
“i don’t want you to go,” he moved to the edge of the bed, feet flat upon the floor.
i stood and gathered my clothes, occasionally tossing him pointed glances, “as much as i enjoy this- i would prefer to not die tonight. i have a chemistry exam tomorrow. here-“
theo rolled his eyes as i tossed his boxers to him. it landed on top of his head. i stifled a laugh and tugged on my jeans.
theo ripped the boxers off and mocked my laughter, “haha, very funny.”
i shrugged and stuck my head through my t-shirt. “listen,” i made my way towards the front door of theo’s tiny, studio apartment. it wasn’t much, but it beat sleeping in his truck every night, like he had been doing. i laced up my shoes, “i should be able to see you tomorrow night. i’ll text you, though, let you know what’s happening.”
theo noticed i was reaching for the door handle and quickly shimmied into his boxers. he slapped a hand against the door, “wait!”
it slammed shut. i looked up at him, an expectant expression on my face. “yeah?”
theo caught my chin in his hands, and planted a sweet kiss on my lips. i melted into the moment, leaning my weight into his hold, allowing my fingers to gently ghost his chest. however, as soon as theo moved to deepen the exchange, my phone started ringing.
my eyes flew open, a wide, worried look taking over my dazed face. i held out a finger towards theo, as if to shush him, as i answered the call.
“hello? oh, hi, scott,” i shot theo a glance. he crossed his arms, figure shrunk in a guilty demeanor. “no, yeah- i’m on my way home now. oh, chinese sounds good. yep- no, yeah. just gotta shower first. just- with gina. yep. studying. chem exam tomorrow! yep. yeah. k. love you! bye.”
i stared at my phone for a second, as though scott were going to climb out of it and kill theo for even being in the same room as me. when that didn’t happen, i let out a deep breath.
“okay,” i looked to the boy, “i have got to get going. i’ll see you tomorrow, yeah?”
“yeah,” theo couldn’t help but grin down at me, “tomorrow.”
i noticed his body tilt towards mine, his chest lean towards me, and i held up a finger, cocked a brow. “don’t even think about it or i will never get out of here.”
i could hear him groaning as i shut the door behind me.
–
you took a polaroid of us, then discovered the rest of the world was black and white, but we were in screaming color.
“what are you doing for your birthday?”
i balanced the popcorn bowl on my lap as i twisted around on the couch. theo glanced over at me from the fridge, flashing that bright, wide grin.
i couldn’t help but smile, though nothing special really was happening. “not sure yet. why do you ask?”
“just wondering.”
i stared at the back of his stooped, trying to read between the lines of his very few words. theo could feel my gaze, could hear my curious heartbeat, and looked up against. “what?”
i slowly brought a piece of popcorn to my lips, brows furrowed, “why are you asking?”
“nothing,” he reached into the fridge and grabbed a can of coke. the door shut softly behind him. he neared the couch and cracked open the drink. i continued to stare him. “why do you keep staring at me like that?”
“because i know it’s not nothing,” i set the bowl down on the coffee table and came up onto my knees. theo tilted his head and peered down at me. “you’ve got stuff on your mind. say it. let it out into the open. this is a judgement free zone.”
he chuckled softly as i gestured to the tiny apartment. “not exactly a zone as is.”
i reached up and smacked his forearm. “just tell me! please?”
theo took another sip of his coke, thinking intensely. “there’s really not much to say. i was just thinking how your birthday is coming up and i wanted to maybe do something special for you.”
“wait, really?” i perked up, elbows pressed into the back of the couch and chin planted upon my palms. “aw, wait really?”
theo rolled his eyes, “yes, really. but, i know you guys probably have stuff planned. so, i was just trying to get a feel for when we could fit something in.”
“no one’s said anything to me about any plans. though,” my mind wandered a bit, and the stupid hope theo’s healing heart always gave me filled my lungs, “if they do figure something out, i don’t see why you couldn’t just come to that..?”
theo’s soft face hardened slightly, a gut wrenching frown painting his pink lips. “yeah…i don’t know about that. liam still wants me dead. scott and stiles hate me- not to mention malia and lydia probably would be happy to kick me in the balls.”
i thought over the words, imagining each scenario play out. he was right. “yeah…” i trailed off, “yeah, i don’t think that would happen. i just-“
i struggled to find my words, gaze distant, hope shattered. “i don’t know-“
“i know,” theo touched my cheek, fingers cold from the can of coke now in his other hand. “i know.”
“i’m tired of hiding, theo,” my voice came out quiet and timid, expressive to how i was truly feeling. it was exhausting, constantly sneaking around, always being on the lookout for scott.
“i know, baby,” he squatted down to my level, holding my face with both hands, now. his thumbs brushed over the apples of my cheeks, eyes catching my distant ones. “listen…i know it’s hard, but…they just don’t understand it, okay? they wouldn’t get it. you- you put your faith in me when i didn’t deserve it. if it wasn’t for you, if it wasn’t for your hope, i don’t think i would be the man i am today. you saw a lost, broken boy and you helped me get back on my feet. you helped me make up for every wrong i’ve done. i…”
he didn’t continue any sentence. he just pressed his lips together. my heart fluttered at the anticipation of what it could’ve been he wanted to say.
“i just wish…” i gathered some thoughts, “i wish they’d give you a chance.”
“one day,” theo kissed me shortly, “i think…one day, it’ll happen.”
we curled up on the tiny couch, fit for his small apartment, and watched a movie. i lay in the crevice of his side, clutching to his body like it would be taken from me. often, i worried that that would happen. scott would catch us, committing no crimes, and juror theo to a fate worse than death. it seemed so silly- scott was the sworn protector of this town. he always ensured everyone’s happiness, health, prosperity. yet, when it came to me, those guarantees fell short. he’d rather i be holed up in my room, or holed up at school, my nose in a book, than i live, than i date or work or go out with friends.
it made everything so complicated. it made my life complicated- i had rules to follow, i had curfews, i had to answer the phone every time he called or the entire world would fall apart. i understood my brother just wanted me to be safe, to stay alive- but he was ruining my life while trying to save it.
i looked up towards theo, worry swimming through my eyes. he turned his head at my own shuffling and smiled, though it faded at the sight of my worried face.
“hey, hey,” he shifted his body towards mine, “baby…it’s okay. hey…everything’s gonna be okay, yeah? i won’t let anything ruin this, okay?”
“i’m just worried he’s gonna take you away from me…”
“i know,” theo brushed the hair from my face, “i know, but i won’t let him. i…”
that unfinished thought again.
i set my hands upon theo’s shoulder, worry being coaxed down by the affection i felt for him. “i love you,” i admitted.
theo’s face softened, the gold flecks in his eyes on fire from my confession. he pulled my face closer towards his, rushing out a response before crashing our lips together.
“i love you.”
–
and i remember thinking: are we out of the woods yet? are we in the clear yet good?
“i saw theo today.”
i looked up from my plate, eyes widened in curiosity. i flicked my gaze between lydia, scott, stiles, malia, and liam. everyone paused from eating their food. they focused on lydia’s words.
scott straightened his stooped neck. his thick brows were furrowed with inquiry, “really? where?”
“the store,” lydia spoke pointedly. “he was buying a dozen roses from the supermarket.”
“well, at least we know he’s a cheap date,” stiles was quick to nip.
i felt my face grow warm, both from worry and frustration. i shoveled some noodles into my mouth.
malia poked at her straw, “what’s he doing here? i thought he left?”
“i think we all did,” scott sighed. he wiped a napkin across his face. “did he have any other groceries?”
lydia rolled her eyes towards the ceiling, as if to recite the items she saw in his cart. “eggs, milk, icing, chicken nuggets, a loaf of bread, and, i think, penne noodles. could’ve been elbow macaroni, though. couldn’t really tell.”
a smile creeped onto my face as i pieced together the groceries. i was supposed to see theo tonight, though i’d told mom and scott i was going to gina’s for a sleepover. i guess i had a birthday cake and flowers to look forward to.
everyone thought for a moment. then, stiles cracked another lame joke, “hey, maybe he’s going to make up for nearly killing y/n by baking her a cake!”
i choked on my water. scott reached a concerned hand over to pat my back. i pressed a napkin to my face and coughed erratically. “you okay?” scott brushed hair form my cheek.
i nodded wildly, “yep- yeah. yep! great. good. sorry.”
scott patted my back again before returning to the conversation. “for his sake, i hope he isn’t planning on doing that. i hope he isn’t planning on contacting any of us. if he does, you all need to tell me- immediately, okay? stiles, let your dad know he’s lingering around. y/n-“
i sniffled from my coughing fit. “yeah?”
scott’s face was lined with a deepened worry, brown eyes swimming with concern for me. “i don’t think i want you going to gina’s tonight. or anywhere but school for the time being. not until we know what theo’s doing here.”
my brows furrowed tightly, “what? no! what- why- how is that fair? no- scott. i can’t-“
“mom will agree,” scott cut me off. “i’m not risking anything.”
“but…” i went to continue to argue my case, but scott continued rattling off instructional orders to the rest of the group.
and, so, my birthday dinner turned into driving to the sheriff’s station with the entire pack. sitting in stilinki’s office until we figured out where theo was living. we drove to the street and patrolled his apartment until 1am. then, stiles dropped scott and i off at home.
nobody even sang me happy birthday.
looking at it now, last december, we were built to fall apart. then fall back together.
“it’s not much, but it’s better than nothing.”
“theo,” i grinned as i took a box from him. a big red bow adorned the glittery wrapping paper. it wasn’t heavy, and the size of the box was quite small. but my heart lit on fire from the lovely gesture. “you really shouldn’t have.”
“no, i wanted to,” he waved me off. “you deserve…so much. the world.”
i met his eyes and recognized that familiar, glistening adoration i’d gotten so used to. “i just…feel bad. you don’t have much money, and-“
“it doesn’t matter,” theo pressed a hand to my knee.
we were criss-cross on the couch, sparse christmas decorations scattered through his tiny apartment. i’d insisted on lining tinsel across the door, lights around the tv console, putting the fake tree in the already crowded corner. i hadn’t been able to come over much and wanted theo to be able to feel some semblance of joyous occasion when i wasn’t there. this was the first time we’d seen each other since thanksgiving.
i only managed to escape the house because i convinced scott that gina and i had to spend christmas together.
“open it!” theo squeezed my knee again.
i giggled at his excited stature and quickly unraveled the bow. inside, amidst the folds of a velvet box, was a necklace with the letter t hanging off of a gold chain. i grinned at the sight, “oh, my gosh! here- put it on me!”
i held my hair from my shoulders as theo clipped the necklace at the nape of my spine. his cold fingers ghosted across my skin until his palms were around my shoulders. he tugged my back into his chest, laying us down upon the couch.
your necklace hanging from my neck, the night we couldn't quite forget when we decided to move the furniture so we could dance.
silence enveloped our presence, a comforting feeling of peace that we rarely had. “i love you, theo,” i let myself whisper. i tried to say it more often than not, worried that one day i wouldn’t be able to remind him of it.
“we should tell scott.”
i pulled myself up, out of theo’s hold, turning to face him on the couch. i was bewildered. my face surely showed it, “what?”
theo ran a hand through his hair, “i think we should tell scott, y/n.”
i shook my head slightly, “no, no. no- we can’t do that. theo- no.”
his tone became increasingly critical, disagreeing with my own disapproval. “why not? im tired of hiding-“
“he’ll kill you, theo,” i rushed out. my breathing was anticipatory in it’s quick speed. “scott will kill you, theo.”
“i don’t know. he’s…merciful. i think if we tell him, we can-“
“theo, no!” i jumped from the couch. “please, just stop. i don’t want to fight about this with you. it’s not happening. end of stor-“
“why does that get to just be your decision? why don’t i get to have a say in this relationship? it’s all up to you!” theo followed me from our seats. he spoke wildly, his hands moving with his words.
i crossed my arms, “i risk everything every single day that i text you. i put myself on the line just to see you. i’m lying to my brother, my best friend- my mom! theo- i thought you understood-“
“i’m just tired of being your little secret. i want to be able to- to see you. i want to come to your birthday dinners and spend christmas morning with you. i want to be in your life. i feel like i’m just on the sidelines!”
“maybe you shouldn’t have tried to kill all of us!”
the words blurted from my lips before i could stop them. the stale silence that followed my heartless thoughts was bitter and cold. theo turned his shoulder from me, dropping his head into his hands.
“oh, my god,” i stepped forward, bracing my hands for impact. “i’m so sorry. theo- i-“
“i thought you’d forgiven me,” he murmured into his palm. “you told me you forgave me for that.”
“i did- i did, i just- i’m sorry! i don’t know why i said tha-“
“maybe scott’s right,” theo met my eyes finally, tears blurring his green ones.
“what-?”
“maybe i never will change. maybe i’m just a bad guy. maybe it’s not a good idea for you to be around me.”
“no, theo, no-“ he kept interrupting me.
“you should leave.”
i couldn’t find the words to stay, but i needed to.
i stepped forward, again, touching theo’s shoulder. he whipped his head back to face me, beautiful eyes darkened by the yellow hue, fangs protruding from his teeth, claws digging into his palms that were beginning to bleed.
“get out!” he roared.
i flinched, throwing myself back a few feet. my hands were shaking. i quickly gathered my things, never turning my back from the monstrous boy standing before me. his chest heaved with anger. he glared.
for the first time in a long time, i was scared of theo.
so, i ran.
baby, like we stood a chance; two paper airplanes flying. and i remember thinking…
“are you awake?”
scott knocked upon my bedroom door.
i rolled over in my bed, away from the sound of his voice, away from his incessant worry.
i knew he could hear my heartbeat. i knew he could smell my pheromones.
i ignored him. he had his answers. i wanted to be left alone.
scott sighed. “please talk to me.”
i didn’t want to.
“well,” he tried to sound cheery, but it failed, “i’ll be out here when you’re ready.”
weeks had passed.
silence had followed.
scott was always wondering why i didn’t go to study group with gina. mom worried why i didn’t want to eat my favorite dinner on thursday nights. stiles was confused when i would voluntarily tag along on patrols with him and scott. when we’d pass theo’s house, i’d press my headphones into my ears and drown the two teenage boys out.
lydia drug me to the mall the following week. scott had told everyone he was worried i was depressed. but he didn’t know why.
i knew why.
i didn’t text theo. and he didn’t try to reach me.
i let the necklace pool in my makeup drawer. my fingers ghosted over it every morning, and i’d flinch as though it burned me. it just made me brain flicker with unwanted memories.
i had nightmares about him.
he’d come into my room and tear me apart.
he’d kill scott right in front of me.
he’d rip my mom’s throat out during dinner.
i dreamed of him, too.
of his arms, the contradictory peace i felt from his fingers. i knew, deep down inside, that his threatening demeanor wasn’t real. it was a projection of his innermost insecurities, his frustration because he could only ever have parts of me.
but i was still terrified. it took me back to a time in my life when theo really was the villain. back to the night when the dread doctors nearly killed me. it reminded me of things i’d worked hard to get over.
it felt like last year, only this time, my heart was broken, too.
i don’t know why i thought it would work. bad people never changed. they’d maybe give you a hurricane eye, false hope that things would be clearing up, the storm would pass. and, then, their true, dark colors would appear like the rain. thundering down on you.
i thought back to months ago, when i first let him in. i’d run into him at the grocery store, like lydia. he was buying tuna fish and a potted plant. he had a certain soil type in his cart. i didn’t recognize him at first, mostly because i’d blocked his face from my memory, and his hair had grown out. he was hiding beneath his hoodie, too.
are we out of the woods yet? are we in the clear yet? good.
“that soils gonna kill that plant.”
i peered over at the stranger’s cart, my own basket swinging from my arm.
“oh!” he looked up from the cereal box in his hands, surprised by my voice.
his brows furrowed, friendly smile faltering slightly. “oh. uh…” he wasn’t quite sure what to say.
i chuckled shortly, “sorry to startle you? i just…don’t want to watch this poor guy be carted off to his death.”
theo looked at the plant as i pointed to it. he set the cereal down in his car, shook his head once, and met my eyes again, “oh. that’s okay. um…would you mind telling me what soil i need?”
“yeah, of course. cmon.”
i marched us off to the plant aisle. as we walked across the entire supermarket, i told him all about my plant collection at home. i shared personal details of my life, remarked as he brought up his own stories.
then, i found the small bag easily, and dumped it into his cart, shoveling the other one back onto the shelf.
he thanked me with this sweet grin. “wow, uh, thank you, so much. any other tips?”
his smile twisted into a smirk, something friendly, nothing too extreme. but, it’s what clicked my memories together. i recognized him then.
i frowned and took a slow step back, “um. sorry…”
i quickly turned on my heel and raced away from the aisle. theo was hot on my heels. he chased me with his cart, stumbling over apologies that i was sure didn’t mean anything. “wait- no! y/n! i’m sorry! please! please let me-! i’m so sorry!”
i tried to pull my phone from my pocket to call scott, but it clattered to the floor. i skidded to a stop, dropping to my knees to grab it. the basket in my arm tipped and everything sprawled across the floor.
i reached for my phone and cursed at the mess. his hand came down over mine. he shot his grip back, apologizing. “i didn’t mea-“
“leave me alone.”
i don’t know how he convinced me to go to dinner with him.
remember when you hit the brakes too soon? 20 stitches in the hospital room. when you started crying, baby, i did, too. but, when the sun came up i was looking at you.
“i think we should talk.”
i glanced over at lydia, thumbs pressing into my thighs anxiously. i sucked in a breath, cold air drowning in my lungs. the wipers rubbed over the window wildly, rain pouring down outside. the radio played softly.
i watched a raindrop race down the window, then glanced over at lydia. “about what?”
she met my eye for a second. she looked like she knew something i didn’t want her to. i gulped.
“you know i…” she trailed off. she licked her teeth in an attempt to find her words, carefully. “i can see things, y/n.”
i sucked in another breath. i couldn’t get enough. i should’ve known this would happen. lydia didn’t just get premonitions of death. if she was connected to somebody enough, like me, she could see flashes of secrets.
“yeah…” i whispered.
“i don’t…” lydia struggled to speak, “i don’t know what to say, necessarily. i only know bits and pieces. like…christmas. he- he wanted to hurt you. but, then- at the grocery store. he was gonna bake you a cake. wha- please tell me what happened, y/n.”
i explained the situation with a shaky voice, fingers rubbing one another in a ruminating anxiety. lydia just listened intently. i was worried she was going to turn the car around, drive us back home to tell scott. i’d get holed up in my room while the pack went on a man and wolf hunt.
but, when i was finished, lydia just stared off at the road.
“well?” i pressed.
she glanced at me, again, “wow. i don’t…i don’t know what to say. i just…i’ve loved some bad people, y/n. one of them- died. the other moved to london, but…but they did change. i changed them, i’d like to think. they became good people. but, i think that’s because they were good people, in their core. they were just scared…i know you probably know theo better than i do, but…i don’t know. he killed his sister. if he were a real wolf, his eyes would be blue, y/n. he came to this town to kill your brother. to take our pack. and he nearly killed you. so many of our classmates’ lives ended because of theo. i just- he’s…”
as she spoke, images flashed through my mind.
two months ago, theo and i had drove three hours outside of town to go to the movie theater. as we walked inside, we saw a little girl sitting upon the curb. she was leaned over, sobbing into her hands. i didn’t know what to do. i was never really good with kids.
theo dropped my hand, ignoring the end of our conversation. he marched over to her, squatted down to speak to her. i couldn’t quite hear what he said, but she looked up at him with these huge, sad eyes. tears stained her face.
theo stood. he offered her his hand. she took it gladly.
he talked to her, quietly, as they walked inside. i followed closely. we stood with the movie theater attendants while they found the girl’s mom.
later, theo showed me a photo of his sister that he kept tucked within a book in his bedroom. it was the only thing he had left of her. that, and the awful memory of what he’d done to her.
she looked to be the age of that little girl, the one who squeezed theo like an old friend before running off to her mommy. she kissed his cheek. she thanked him.
“every night, i have nightmares about…”
i remember holding him through these terrifying dreams…
“about what i did to her. i regret it- i regret it, y/n. if i could give my life to get her back i- i would do it in a heartbeat. i…i’m so sorry of who i am. of where i’ve been and what i’ve done. i’m sorry. i’m so fucking sorry. i wish..i wish we could start over. i wish i could meet you in another lifetime, one where none of this ever happened.”
i held his face in my hands, gently, “theo…it’s okay. we all…we’ve all done things that we wish we could take back. we can only deal with the consequences, and make the best of it. i love you- i love you so much. i forgive you.”
remember when we couldn’t take the heat? i walked out. i said, ‘i’m setting you free.’ but the monsters turned out to be just trees. when the sun came up- you were looking at me.
“theo is…”
lydia didn’t quite finish her sentence, but my i did with my own sad realizations. “scared. he’s scared. he’s…he’s been fighting his whole life. he was just a…just a boy when the dread doctors found him. they manipulated him and- and, god. i-i was helping him and then…god, i’m so mean. i let your guys’ threats against theo ruin my own beliefs. and i let it ruin us…lydia- i-“
“i’m sorry,” she said. it was sincere. “i didn’t…i didn’t know. i’m so sorry, y/n. don’t blame yourself for how it ended. you…you had every right to say what you did. it was his choice as to how he reacted to it. and he pushed you away.“
“but, but- i could have stayed. i could have helped him. we could have worked it out- i need to go see him. lydia, please- take me home-“
lydia screamed.
my eardrums burst.
blood dripped down my jaw, staining the collar of my jean jacket. the tired squealed against the slick pavement. the car went over the side of the road, flying through an empty field, and crashing down on it’s head. broken glass scraped across my face. the seatbelt nearly choked me as our bodies twisted upside down with the car.
i was awake for a mere moments after the car stilled. the radio continued to play soft, haunting melodies. the rain pattered, splashing my face.
the only thing i could picture was theo’s face.
it was almost as if he was right there before me.
when i woke, i was in a hospital bed. i couldn’t quite open my eyes. my head was pounding and the florescent lighting stung my vision. the cuts in my skin thumped with my heartbeat. the iv in my arm felt thick, heavy, cold fluids running in my veins.
above the annoying beeping of the machines attached to my body were two voices. angry voices. arguing voices.
theo and scott.
“no, i don’t think you understand, theo! get out! i don’t want you anywhere near my sister! you- i don’t trust you! this probably happened because of you!”
my eyes shot open.
theo stepped back as scott yelled in his face. his tone was more calm than my brother’s, hands raised defensively, yet in a surrendering offer with his palms facing the ceiling. “scott, please, just-“
“no! get out! leave! before i make you!” scott’s hands were shaking with anger. he seethed, chest rising up and down wildly.
i tried to move, but my body paralyzed. words wouldn’t come, either, because a breathing mask was over my mouth.
“scott-!” theo tried, once more.
scott growled, eyes turning red, ears pointing up towards the moon in the window. he was completely transformed. i knew how dangerous that was. i knew how angry he was.
my eyes shot towards the doorway as mom quickly entered. she stopped before scott, placing her hands on his shoulders gently, “scott…honey, cmon, you’ve gotta breathe, okay? i’ve got a hospital full of patients and the last thing i need is to have the night janitor clean up after two werewolves.”
“then tell him to leave!” scott pointed a claw at theo.
mom looked towards the boy, brows furrowing in anger. she composed herself better. “theo…” mom spoke warily, “you need to leave. now.”
“no, you don’t understand! i didn’t do this! i-i brought her here! if i wanted to kill her, why would i bring her here!”
“to save your ass!” scott roared.
i examined theo’s face as it tilted towards the light. tears shone on his cheeks. mom pushed scott back an inch, “no, scott! hey, honey, cmon! he’s- he’s telling the truth. he brought her here- he didn’t try to kill her, scott!”
“then what did?”
“a deer,” mom spoke blankly. she pursed her lips. the confession was awkward, humanized compared to what we were all used to.
scott straightened his posture, transforming back into a human. his breathing evened out. “oh. i’m….”
theo sighed, ran a hand over his face. “look…i know you hate me. and you have every right to. but…i just…i’m not leaving. i’m staying.”
he took a step towards my bed. scott moved in front of him, blocking me. “stay away from her.”
“scott,” mom examined theo’s face as he met my eyes. he breathed out a sigh of relief and quickly grabbed my hand.
theo dropped to the chair beside my bed, clutching my fingers in his. he pressed his forehead to my touch, mumbling gratitude beneath his breath.
“i thought i lost you,” theo whispered.
mom and scott watched. mom crossed her arms over her chest, a wondrously pleased expression in her eyes. she glanced at scott. he gasped at our interaction.
i blinked away a tear. theo kissed the back of my hand. “i really thought i lost you. god- i’m…i’m never letting you leave me again. i’m sorry. i’m so fucking sorry for scaring you. i promise, i promise it’ll never happen again. i’m never gonna let go of you, i’m never gonna push you away again, okay? i love you.”
i nodded gently, unable to do much else. my fingers wriggled in his hands. he squeezed mine.
scott stepped forward, “theo…”
theo met scott’s eyes. he huffed, “please. please just five minutes. i’ll leave if you want me to, but…please, scott just give me five minutes, okay? you can chase me out of beacon hills, to the ends of the earth, but please let me have five minutes with my girl.”
scott went to say something else, but mom grabbed his bicep. “five minutes.”
she began leading then to the hall, scott following begrudgingly. she looked over her shoulder to tell theo, “five minutes and then we have a lot to talk about, okay? starting with you’re gonna start going to therapy and i have a 24 pack of condoms in my office.”
my face turned beat red.
theo laughed, a relieved, gentle sound i had missed for far too long. he met my eyes again.
“i love you.”
you were looking at me. i remember. are we out of the woods yet? are we in the clear yet? good.

Midnight Confessions - Liam Dunbar x Female Reader
Summary: Liam can't sleep so comes to your room and ends up admitting he has feelings for you
Words: 2.2K
Warnings: None
Y/N’s POV
I’m awoken by a soft rustling, the sound of someone fidgeting nearby and the soft click of my bedroom door. It would be barely audible to the naked ear but being a werecoyote I hear it as clear as day. My eyes flutter open, adjusting to the dimness of the room. In the half-light, I make out a familiar figure slipping into my room—Liam.
“Lili?” I murmur, sitting up, voice hoarse with sleep.
He turns, his eyes widening slightly in surprise, “Oh, hey,” he greets, his voice low and rough with an air of apology, “Sorry, did I wake you?”
I just shake my head, pretending a false wakefulness, though the little skip of my heart likely gives away my lie, “No, I was already awake.” I lie, offering him a comforting smile, “What’s wrong, Li?”
Liam hesitates, his usually confident demeanour replaced by an uncharacteristic vulnerability, “I… I can’t sleep.” He admits, his voice filled with frustration, “It’s like my brain won’t shut off.” As Liam edges closer, I catch the hint of embarrassment swirling in the air, the subtle shift in his scent betraying his unease. He's never been one to show vulnerability easily, and the faint aroma of it mixing with the usual notes of his scent makes his discomfort palpable.
Without a second thought I’m shuffling closer to the wall and living the duvet, patting the now free space besides me, “Come here,” I offer, used to having any of the pack in my bed at all hours of the day. Being the Pack Mum they all come to me when they can’t sleep, can’t work anything out or just need someone to be with. This is no different, so I don’t hesitate.
Liam hesitates though, he’s never been one to come to me, always being one to bottle up his emotions and have them all come out in bursts of anger. His IED. His gaze flickers between me and the bed as if fighting some inner turmoil before his shoulders slump and he’s shuffling over to the bed.
He eases onto the bed, tentative as if unsure of the unspoken rules governing such intimate moments. I give him the space to settles sensing his discomfort lingering in the air like a fragile thread. So, with a silent invitation, I was my arm around his waist, pulling him closer, offering a sense of security in the embrace. His head finds a resting place on my arm, and I gently pull him closer, molding our bodies together, his back against my chest.
The warmth of his body against mine, the rise and fall of his breaths in sync with mine—it’s a quiet intimacy, a silent understanding that transcends words. My hold on him is gentle yet firm, a reassurance that he’s not alone in this moment of vulnerability.
His muscles tense at first, the unfamiliarity of this closeness evident, but gradually, with each passing moment, he relaxes into the embrace. I feel the weight of his exhaustion, the weariness of carrying the burdensome thoughts and emotions alone. We lay there in the stillness, a fragile peace enveloping us as I wait for him to speak. My heartbeat, a steady rhythm against his back, serves as a comfort for him enough to begin speaking quietly.
Liam’s voice is a mere whisper against the quiet backdrop of the night, almost hesitant to disturb the tranquility we’ve found. “I never… I never do this,” he admits, his words soft and raw with vulnerability, “I don’t… I don’t let people in.” His confession echoes in the space between us, heavy with the weight of unspoken emotions. I tighten my embrace ever so slightly, a wordless encouragement for him to continue, to share the burden he’s carried in solitude for so long, “I’ve always kept everyone at arms length,” He murmurs, the words weighed down the years of self-imposed isolation, “But… there’s someone I really like.”
His confession lingers, pregnant with unspoken truths. My heart quickens, despite myself, as I’ve honestly liked Liam as long as I’ve known him after Scott turned him into a werewolf. His unwavering determination drew me in at first, he possesses an unyielding resilience, facing adversities head on, regardless of the trials fate throws his way. His willingness to confront challenges, to persevere in the face of danger, ignites an admiration with me.
There’s an inherent goodness in Liam—a genuine kindness that permeates every action and word. Despite the turmoil within him, he exudes compassion, extending a helping hand without hesitation. His caring nature extends not just to the pack, but to everyone around him. Witnessing this innate warmth and empathy, I find myself drawn to his selfless heart.
Liam shifts in my embrace, his movements gentle yet deliberate, turning to face me in the subdued light of the room. His features, usually framed by determination or a boyish enthusiasm, now carry a vulnerability that renders him achingly human.
His electric blue eyes, etched with complexities of emotion, meet mine, shimmering with a blend of uncertainty and an unspoken depth that captivates me. They hold a silent plea, a longing for understanding, yet also harbouring a hint of apprehension about the confession he’s laid bare.
The soft light casts a delicate glow upon his features, accentuating the curve of his jawline. His tousled hair, kissed by the dimness of the room, frames his face in a way that makes my heart skip a beat. It’s a vulnerability in his gaze, the rawness in his expression that draws me in. Every line, every nuance of his face tells a story—one of resilience, of battles fought, and a heart brimming with unspoken desires. And in that moment, with him facing me, vulnerability and sincere it takes every ounce of self-restraint not to close the distance between us.
The air crackles with an unspoken tension, a palpable energy that hangs between our breaths, pregnant with the weight of unspoken confessions. His proximity feels like a magnetic pull, an irresistible force urging me closer.
His lips, parted as if ready to voice more, hover tantalising close, and my pulse quickens at the proximity. The temptation to bridge the gap between us—to taste the unspoken words on his lips—is almost overpowering. His cerulean eyes, shimmering with a tempest of emotions, flicker downwards for the briefest of moments, tracing the curve of my lips before reconnecting with mine. There’s a silent acknowledgement in that fleeting gaze that it’s me. I’m the someone he’s been thinking about and my heart quickens.
In a heartbeat, his hand moves, a tender caress tracing the contours of my cheek, the touch feather-light yet electric against my skin. His fingertips, warm and gentle, send a shiver down my spine, igniting a flutter in my chest. It’s a gesture so achingly tender, filled with an unspoken longing and a depth of emotion that words couldn’t convey. The weight of his touch, the unspoken invitation in his eyes, they weave an intricate tapestry of desire and restraint, of longing and apprehension.
For a suspended moment, we exist in this delicate dance, an unspoken understanding passing between us, as if a silent agreement binds our hearts in this tender, charged space. His thumb brushes lightly against the corner of my lips, an intimate gesture that ignites a cascade of sensations within me. I’m captured in the intensity of his gaze, drowning in the unspoken desires that shimmer beneath the surface.
The charged atmosphere crackles as Liam inches closer, our breaths mingling in a symphony of shared anticipation. Every move, every beat of our hearts, seems synchronised in this suspended moment, an unspoken agreement guiding our silent exchange.
He draws nearer, an almost imperceptible movement, until the space between us narrows to mere inches. The magnetic pull between our bodies intensifies, practically pressing chest to chest, our closeness igniting a firestorm of emotions within.
His touch is a whisper against my skin, a delicate dance that sets my sense ablaze. And in that fragile interlude, his hand guides my head, a tender urging that sends a thrill down my spine. Our gazes lock, the depth of his blue eyes holding a storm of emotions—hesitation, nervousness, and an undeniable longing.
As if testing the waters of an uncharted sea, he leans in, a hesitant yet determined motion that bridges the final gap. Our lips meet in a hesitant, nervous collision—a gentle brush that sparks a conflagration of emotions. It’s a kiss born from the depth of unspoken desires, a tentative exploration of something that has simmered beneath the surface for far too long. The touch of our lips speaks volumes, conveying a yearning and a vulnerability that transcends words.
The initial brush of our lips, tentative and uncertain, ignites a fervour that neither of us could contain. It’s as though a floodgate has been opened, releasing a torrent of pent-up emotions that surges between us. The kiss deepens, a magnetic pull drawing us into a whirlwind of passion.
Liam’s lips, once hesitant, now mold against mine with an urgency born of unspoken longing. The kiss takes on a life of its own, a heated exploration that speaks volumes of the emotions feeling this newfound intimacy.
Our bodies move in sync, a silent symphony of desires entwined. The once gentle touch turns fervent, his hands exploring every curve, every inch they can reach. It’s a dance of fervour and restraint, a silent plea for deeper connection that resonates between each breathless exchange. The world fades away as Liam rolls us over, positioning himself above me. His presence is magnetic, his gaze locking onto mine in an intensity that electrifies the air. The weight of his body against mine sends a shiver of anticipation down my spine, our closeness an inferno of unspoken desires.
My fingers tangle in his soft locks, pulling him closer, urging the closeness as his lips trail from mine to explore the sensitive skin of my neck. His touch sears through me, every caress leaving an imprint of longing etched into my skin.
In response, my hands roam, tracing the contours of his muscular chest, feeling that strength beneath the surface. The heat between us intensifies, a collision of passion and unspoken emotions that dance in the air around us.
Our bodies move in a synchronised dance, each touch, each kiss, an unspoken dialogue of unbridled passion and profound connection. The heat between us amplifies, a whirlwind of emotions and desires swirling around us, encapsulating us in a world of fervour and longing.
Liam captures my lips again in a passionate kiss that steals my breath away. His fervent embrace, the way he fits against me, feels like an intricate puzzle piece finding its perfect match. It’s a collision of sensations—a tumultuous wave of emotions crashing into each other, drawing us deeper into the abyss of our shared desires. With every stolen breath, every tender exchange, I’m consumed by the intensity of the moment, enveloped in a whirlwind of feelings that leave me craving more. There’s an urgency in the way our lips mold together, an unspoken desire to lose ourselves in this infinite moment.
As our kisses deepen, I lose myself in the rhythm of our shared passion. Every touch, every movement, resonates with an undeniable longing—an unspoken declaration that I never want this moment to end. In Liam’s embrace, I find a sanctuary where time stands still, where our connection transcends the boundaries of the physical, and whirr the fervour of our shared desire ignites an unquenchable flame within me.
Eventually, I break the kiss reluctantly, my breaths coming in ragged gasps, feeling the undeniable pull of Liam’s presence lingering between us. “Maybe we should… try and sleep.” I murmur, noticing a flicker of disappointment cross Liam’s features as doubt clouds his expression.
But before his disappointment settles in, I quickly add, “We have all the time in the world to make out, but maybe not at 3m on a school night.”
A bashful giggle escapes him, his embarrassment evident as a faint blush tinges his cheeks. He settles back next to me, nestling into the cradle of my arms with a sheepish yet affectionate smile playing on his lips.
“Yeah, that makes sense.” He concedes, his voice softened by the intimacy of the moment, “Sleep sounds good.”
The tension from our passionate exchange gradually dissipates into a quiet tranquility. Liam finds a comfortable spot, his head resting against my shoulder, a sense of contentment enveloping us in the soothing embrace of the night.
As the minutes pass, the weight of our shared emotions lingers in the air, an unspoken promise of deeper conversations yet to come. The steady rhythm of his breathing against my chest becomes a soothing melody, lulling us into a gentle slumber.
In the quiet of the night, I hold him close, cherishing the intimacy and vulnerability we shared. Our entwined bodies find solace in each other's presence, a silent understanding that this moment, fleeting yet profound, has kindled something unspoken yet unmistakably beautiful between us. I bury my face in his hair and as sleep claims us, I drift into dreams, knowing that whatever awaits in the waking hours, the warmth of Liam's embrace remains a cherished memory.

Sometimes I forget that fanon shit isn't canon. Like in the Merlin fandom, what do you mean Arthur wasn't in love with Merlin and KNEW IT when he was about to die?? Or in the teen wolf fandom what do you mean Liam didn't get his IED from his biological father and the name of his parents isn't Jenna and David geyer?? Like these things are full on Canon to me.
That's why I add subtext when I tell my friends about the shows I like. And the funny thing is, it doesn't change the perspective of things. I can tell my friends "this is where this guy felt this and this girl did that beforehand" and it doesn't change the scene, it just gives it more depth.
So fanon is canon. Thanks for listening to my little rant.

Hunted
Pairing: Liam Dunbar x reader
Warnings: Swearing
Chapter: 6.04
You were thankful Scott’s mom hadn’t returned from work yet; you didn’t want to be there when Melissa McCall discovered the large black scorch marks on her ceiling or when Liam went to a party in her house. You were collecting red cups and other trash that was scattered across the living room and tossing them into a black bag.
Realizing you’re the only one cleaning, you drop the bag and say, “I’m gonna need some help if we want this done before Scott’s mom gets home.”
Hearing multiple heartbeats racing in the next room, you go through and see Scott, Liam, Mason, and Corey staring up at the ceiling. You walk towards them and gulp down, “That’s where the ghost rider came in. It looks like it was burned.”
“Usually you'd find charred spots like that on the ground after a violent thunderstorm.”
Scott’s eyes widen as he processes Mason’s words: “That's how the Ghost Riders got in. He rode the lightning.”
Liam tenses, “If they can use lightning to pass the mountain ash...”
“We can’t hide from them. Nowhere is safe.”
“What about the others?” Corey asks. “It's my fault they're marked.”
“Hey, it’s not. We are all still learning about the ghost riders.”
“We'll find a way to protect them. All of them.”
Although Scott was determined to save everyone, you still doubted it could be done. Breaking the gloomy atmosphere, you pull two black bags out of your pockets and shove them at Mason and Liam. “Come on, we better clean this place before Melissa kills us.”
Scott gives you an appreciated nod.
—
Frustrated, you shove your phone into your bag before going to join Liam and Mason in the library. You hadn’t heard back from your dad in a couple of days and were starting to become worried.
The first thing you notice sitting across from Liam is the frown on his face as he stares at the book in front of him. You felt bad for Liam; he still blames himself for what happened at Scott’s party. “The k-index quantifies the horizontal component of the earth's magnetic field.” He bites on the end of his pen, looking lost in a deep thought, before asking, “What’s a k-index?”
“It’s a scale that meteorologists use to measure thunderstorm activity,” Mason explains. “So, a k-index value less than twenty meters means no activity, and above thirty-five is severe.”
“How bad is it?”
"Well, your average storm has about ten thousand lightning strikes. In the past three months, the average storm in beacon hills has been five thousand.”
“What’s it reading now?”
Mason types onto his laptop and brings up what he’s looking for: “It’s at fourteen. We’re clear.”
“If a spike in the K index means more lightning, we could know if they're coming.” Liam says, sounding unsure.
“That’s good. As long as it stays low, we’re good.”
Just as the words leave your mouth, Mason’s computer starts beeping. A few students turn and glare in your direction as he struggles to turn it off. You can’t see the screen, but sensing how anxious they are both becoming, you know it’s something bad.
“What’s wrong?”
Mason gulps down, “Oh, this is really bad.”
Under the table, Liam links his fingers with yours, attempting to comfort the both of you the best he can.
—
You pace back and forth up the hallways of Beacon Hills High School. You keep glancing back over your shoulder, waiting to see someone standing there. You didn’t know how to describe it, but you just had a feeling that you shouldn’t be there alone. Someone else was supposed to be with you, helping you.
Stiles.
That could maybe be the answer if you knew who Stiles was.
Liam and Hayden had managed to get everyone who was at the party, aside from three lacrosse players, into the underground tunnels. Your uncle Chris and Malia were staying with them underground to keep them safe.
Since the majority of the lacrosse team and coach were in the boys locker room, you couldn’t go in to help try and persuade the players to leave. Hearing familiar footsteps, you turn and see nobody, yet you have the feeling someone is standing right in front of you.
“Stiles,” you whisper. “Stiles, can you hear me?”
“Lu, who are you talking to?”
“No one,” you mumble. Turning back around, you met a confused-looking Mason’s eye. “Where’s Scott and Liam?
“They are playing the game.”
—
You sit beside Mason on the bleachers, cringing as coach becomes more and more angry. The Bulldogs had scored three times, and your school's team hadn’t had one goal all game. You weren’t happy about Liam being out on the lacrosse field, but they reasoned it was the only way to keep the other players safe.
“What are you doing out there?! i'm gonna kill the three of you!”
“Look how red coach’s face is,” you whisper. “He looks like he’s gonna blow.”
“This is the worst ga—“ Mason doesn’t finish his sentence when he notices Scott and Liam looking at him from across the field. “But of course we have bigger things to worry about.”
Over the cheers and boos of the crowd, you hear someone saying your name; they were calling for you. Suddenly sensing who it was, you stand up, and Mason takes your hand to gain your attention. “What is it? What do you hear?”
“My dad's here; he’s with Parrish. He needs to talk to me.”
“Want me to come with you?”
“Find Hayden first, and then I’ll meet you inside. Liam and Scott will call if anything is wrong.”
You sprint from the bleachers towards the high school just as the light rain becomes heavy, soaking your clothes almost immediately. You burst through the doors. “Dad, dad?”
Derek appears behind you and pulls you into him. “We need to go.”
“What?”
“Kate’s coming. We need to go now.”
“But I—“
“The ghost riders are afraid of hellhounds, which is why I called Parrish.” Placing his hand on your back, Derek starts moving you towards the exit. “I’m parked outside. Soon as Liam is here, then we are leaving.”
“Liam is coming?”
He pushes the main doors open and says, “Liam will stay with you while I come back and help Scott and Chris with the ghost riders.”
On the opposite end of the hallway, you hear Hayden and Mason’s voices; they sounded panicked. You spin back around, “Somethings wrong!”
A brunette woman overtakes your friends while running in the hallway but is shot by one of the ghost riders bullets and disappears. Turning into his hellhound form, Parrish is shot by one of the ghost riders. The flames surrounding his body turn green, and he falls back, but is only momentarily stunned before getting back up.
The ghost rider turns its body to face in your direction and aims its gun at you. Growling, Derek shoves you forward just as the bullet skips past where you stood seconds before.
Parrish grabs the ghost rider from behind, giving Hayden and Mason a chance to run by it without being attacked.
You go to run outside but are pulled back. “There’s more out there, fuck.” Being faster than you, Derek takes hold of your hand and keeps you beside him. “Go to the nearest classroom and lock yourselves in.”
Mason’s eyes were widened with feet and adrenaline; he looked as if he were going to throw up. “The science lab is just down the next hall!”
The four of you make it to the classroom. Mason slips and falls. Derek, let’s go of your hand to help him up. Just as you’re about to step inside, a black cord tightens around your ankle. You sink your claws into the side of the door to fight against the ghost rider trying to pull you backwards.
You let out a piercing scream, “Dad!”
The ghost rider pulls on the whip, dragging you along the floor. Expecting to be shot, you squeeze your eyes shut, but they quickly open when the pressure around your ankle disappears. Derek had cut the cord with his claws before lunging on top of the ghost rider.
“Dad!”
Hayden yanks you backwards into the classroom. There’s a bright flash of lightening, then the ghost rider disappears.

The three of them now stood in front of the bathroom door, patiently waiting for Scott to open it. Mccall hesitated, as if something inside of it was so terrible he didn't want them to see it. However he was the one to call. And that meant he needed their help. But how can they do it without knowing the problem?
"Will you open it?" Theo suggested, his hand slightly squeezing Scott's shoulder as if to reassure him that it's okay. Whatever was there, they can deal with it.
Scott nodded, giving both of them a tired look before finally opening the door. Theo was the second after Stiles to shove his head inside to look at that "something" Scott was so anxious about. But when Scott entered the room to open the curtain the other two suddenly lost all the possible words. There was a boy in his friend's bathtub. A boy, who's hands and mouth were tied with a fucking duct tape as a some sort of a criminal who tried to rob the house.
"Scott?" Theo asked patiently, trying to focus his friend’s attention on what he was about to say.
"Yes?" Scott replied, his gaze still stuck on the scared kid, who was looking at all them in turns.
"Have I told you today what an idiot you are?" Theo asked, pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Er, no?"
"Good. You're an idiot, Scott. A big ass idiot"
"Hate to say it, but I agree with Theo. Why the hell did you bring him here, Scott!!?" Stiles cried, and Theo found himself nodding in agreement. Being disappointed with Scott’s life choices was one of the few things they both shared and now it was totally two on one.
"Hey! I panicked??!" Scott’s defense didn’t work, as Stiles was already up for a big ass conversation on “how to not take rash decisions without Stiles’ approval” leaving Theo the one to actually care about the poor child, now absolutely terrified.
"You panicked?! And what are we supposed to do now with your "panic"?
"I guess we are the ones to deal with it, Stiles" Theo sighed, stepping closer to the scared boy. The later looked at him cautiously, but Theo stopped, squatting in front of him.
"Don't worry little one, I won't harm you. I’m actually here to help"
Day 1 of @theoraekenapperciation week!
The prompt: First Meet
Aaand it's my first entry for this year's Theo Raeken Week!! Actually, at first I wanted to go with visual prompts only, but then my mind gave me this and I took that idea and actually made it!
I saw a lot of different posts with hcs and takes on "what if Theo never left and stayed with Scott and Stiles and they all remained friends?" And I love those so much so I decided to stick to that idea and with that rewrite a bit Theo's first meeting with Liam, as I'm sure it would have happened that moment. I had a lot of fun drawing and writing this so I hope you like it!! (And now I think that this idea is more for the "canon divergence" prompt, but anyway)
And I'm extremely sorry for the quality of the drawing🙏🏻 I've tried to fix it but failed

ceilings | stiles stilinski x fem!reader
part one | PART TWO (requested by @mysticallystilinski)
summary: after going through her memories and finally remembering stiles, y/n is confident that he’s back. so she goes with lydia and malia to find him.
warnings: FLUFF, some swearing, this is more parts of the episode rather than me just making it up but yk
taglist: @brvceyamada
☾
“y/n?” scott’s voice brought you out of your head.
"where is he?" you turned to face him. “you guys saw him? right? it was working.”
“what?”
“stiles. he was right here. didn’t you guys see him? the light?” you gestured to the empty hall in front of you.
“we didn't see anyone.” malia stated.
"no." you looked down the corridor again, your voice echoing around the walls. "he was here. i know it."
"alright, come on." malia put her hands on your shoulders. "back inside."
she and lydia led you back into the room and scott closed the door behind you all. or he went to.
liam appeared in the doorway and stopped it from closing last second.
"liam..." scott sighed in relief.
"there's something you need to see." liam said to him.
"you're still here."
"but everyone else is gone. all of them. they're all gone."
your heart probably would've sunk if you weren't dead set on the thought that stiles was back.
you ignored the rest of the conversation between liam and scott and tried to think about exactly where stiles could be. where you would find him.
"in case stiles comes back?"
your head shot up at lydia's words.
"if there's hope, you need to keep trying." scott told the three of you.
you knew stiles wouldn't think to come to argent's bunker, but you kept quiet as scott left with liam.
you waited about ten minutes before heading for the door.
“um, excuse me?” lydia scoffed, getting your attention. “where do you think you’re going?”
“where does it look? i’m going to find stiles.”
“scott told us to stay in case he shows up here.” lydia stated.
“okay, we all know stiles would never come here.” malia pointed out, joining you at the door, and you nodded in agreement.
“see? we need to find him.” you stated. the look lydia gave you was one of disbelief. “look, if he was gonna show up here, he would’ve. but he hasn’t, so…”
lydia didn’t say anything.
“please, lydia?” you begged. “please?”
“fine.” she caved and the three of you quickly left the bunker.
you ended up in the school parking lot just a few minutes later where stiles’ jeep had been left since he disappeared.
instead now the car was gone.
hope sparked in your chest as you examined the tire marks on the ground in front of you.
“they look fresh.” lydia noted.
“it’s from stiles’ jeep.” malia agreed. “it must’ve just left.”
“without his keys?” lydia asked incredulously.
“he used a screwdriver to start it up half the time.” you spoke up, not looking at your friends.
“then he’s here.” malia spoke.
“we have to tell scott.” lydia stated.
looking up, you noticed train tracks running across the school’s lawn and into the building.
“yeah, well, we should probably tell scott about that too.” you stood up and started walking over.
lydia and malia exchanged a look and the three of you headed into the school.
after reaching the library and finding the train station inside, and soon after finding peter, getting malia to get him out of the ghost riders’ world and into your own, there was a fight and you and lydia had to run out of the library, leaving malia and peter alone to fight the ghost riders.
“shit, where’s—” your voice seemed to disappear as you spoke.
both you and lydia had turned around to face the library, but you had this feeling.
your heart sped up and it was like a rush. like how you had felt before when you went through your memories.
the feeling you had around stiles.
you started heading down the hallway without another word.
“y/n? where on earth…” lydia sighed and followed after quickly.
it was like something was pulling you through the school, down the different hallways.
a gunshot not too far ahead got you to speed up.
“scott, i can’t fight this guy!” stiles’ voice shouted from one of the locker rooms and you frantically grabbed lydia’s arm, pulling her to the room as another gunshot went off.
“no, no, no.” you muttered as you did so, before you reached the doorway.
inside the room was a ghost rider pointing his gun right at someone’s head.
stiles stood before the ghost rider, looking exactly like he did when you last saw him.
the same red flannel, the same hairstyle, everything.
you covered your ears as lydia screamed, sending the ghost rider flying into the lockers ahead.
when she stopped you pushed your way into the room properly and froze as stiles stared back at the two of you in shock.
“stiles…” you breathed out, a smile tugging on your lips.
you both then rushed towards each other, meeting halfway and connecting your lips in a kiss.
his hands cupped your face like they had so many times before, and your hands were in his hair, trying to keep him as close to you as possible.
you never wanted to let go of him.
the missing piece to your puzzle had finally been found, and now the picture was complete.
in that moment, you didn’t care about the ghost riders, or lydia, who had stepped out of the room for a moment. the only thing you cared about was him.
stiles.
the three whole months without him had been the longest of your life. even if you couldn’t remember him.
the two of you pulled apart and his arms found their way around you.
“oh, god.” he mumbled into your shoulder, hugging you tight.
you took his face in your hands and just examined him. you took in all his features as if it were the first time you had ever seen him.
he was real. and he was right in front of you.
“i thought i had lost you.” you whispered, the tears finally starting to brim in your eyes. “i don’t know what i would’ve done…”
you trailed off, getting lost in his brown eyes.
his eyes.
you hugged him tightly again.
“i love you so much.” he whispered in your ear. “god, i’ve missed you.”
“you don’t know how much i’ve missed you.” you said with a slight chuckle. “oh, my god.”
he smiled and leaned in, pressing his lips against yours again.
“i still can’t…” your hand brushed some of his hair that sat slightly over his forehead. “i mean, you exist. you’re here.”
“i’m here,” he wrapped his arms around you again. “and i don’t want to leave you ever again.”
you hugged him back tight, your arms slotting into place around his torso just under his own arms.
lovely to just stay there with him.
“you ready for our last day of high school ever?” you asked stiles quietly.
the two of you were lying in his bed, under the covers and in pyjamas, facing each other.
the last day of senior year.
“no.” he whispered and you smiled softly.
you slotted your hand into his. “that’s okay.”
“yeah.”
it had taken some time, but everything had slowly begun going back to normal.
or your definition of ‘normal.’
normal was you and stiles lying in bed at 6:30 in the morning when you were supposed to be getting ready for school.
it still felt impossible for you to be looking at him again. touching him again. kissing him again.
with one hand in his and the other tucked under your head, you just stared at stiles with a smile.
“what’re you looking at, weirdo?” he asked, his beautiful smile slipping onto his face.
“you.” you leaned forward and pecked him on the lips.
“woah. very bold.”
“it’s ‘cause you’re kinda cute.” you shrugged, holding back a smile.
stiles rolled over and grabbed his phone off the nightstand. “you know i might have to call my girlfriend and tell her this very pretty girl is making moves on me.”
you rolled your eyes as he held his phone to his ear, your phone ringing seconds later.
“well, would you look at that?” he grinned, hanging up the call and dropping his phone onto the bed. “you’re my girlfriend.”
“you’re such a dork.” you laughed. “and so cheesy.”
“you love me.” he whispered against your lips before kissing you.
of course the door opened at that very second.
“okay, you two, enough canoodling and start getting your butts to school.” sheriff stilinski ordered, coffee mug in hand, and stiles groaned. “last day!”
stilinski forced a small cheer and you chuckled, copying the cheer.
“there’s the enthusiasm.” noah nodded and walked back down the hallway.
“dad, close the door!” stiles called after him.
“get ready for school!” noah yelled back.
the two of you, stiles more begrudgingly, did end up getting ready for your last day and sat down in his jeep.
“you ready now?” you asked stiles as he put the keys into the ignition.
“nope.” he started up the car.
“me neither.”
stiles turned his head to meet your eyes and smiled.
and it feels like the end of a movie i’ve seen before
you smiled back and he started driving, both of you totally unprepared to leave high school, but ready to start the rest of your lives. together.
before
a/n: i feel like this isn’t as good (or as long) as the first part but i still hope you guys like it

“Now would be the right time to call for help,” Theo nuzzed at his jaw, and Liam bared his teeth, mocking.
“Why? Can’t do me on your own?”
“Oh, I can do you just fine,” Theo’s kiss was a bite, “but if we don’t stop now, I’ll fuck you right on this desk, in this nice little classroom, and that’s all you’ll be able to think about when sitting here on Monday, Tuesday, and all the days to come.”

12 Days of Ficmas ❅ Day 1
Word Count: 4.8K Paring: Stiles Stilinski x Fem!Reader Prompt @alloftheprompts: Character A and Character B broke up but now they meet at a Christmas party.
Summary: In unpredictable Beacon Hills, Stiles and (Y/N) being together was one of the only things that made sense. But sometimes the smallest of changes can create the biggest of chaos. And a simple college admission letter can do just that. Maybe all it takes is the right Christmas gift to make things better.
A/N: yup, that's right, I'm doing 12 Days of Ficmas again (even if I haven't finished Kinktober 🫣🫣 but I am nothing if not a masochist (and a slight procrastinator) But enjoy!! This story actually made me tear up, honestly. But it wouldn't be one of my stories if there wasn't an insane amount of angst 😅 Also, disclaimer, I have not seen the last two seasons of Teen Wolf or the movie so, sorry for any inconsistencies.
Next ->
“Let’s just get this over with,” (Y/N) sighed as she fixed the Santa hat on top of her head. “They don’t have to know yet.”
“Yeah,” Stiles grimaced. “It’s better to wait until after the holidays, I guess.”
It was the first time Stiles and (Y/N) had ever been terrified to enter Scott’s house and face all of their friends. Even worse, they had to pretend everything was fine between them.
Since they were little, the pair had been inseparable. Being next-door neighbors allowed them to grow close at a rapid pace. It was in her that he found solace on the nights his mother’s illness would take the best of her mind. He would run over to her house and climb the lattice that ran all the way up to her room.
And she wouldn’t ask questions. (Y/N) would simply let him in through her window and distract him until he eventually drifted off to sleep. She did not need any explanations or reasons to comfort Stiles. She simply knew he needed her, and so she was there for him. Because if there was anything she knew of, it was the pain of slowly losing a parent.
They shared a bond that no one could break. Even as Scott entered their duo and they became the perfect trio, Stiles and (Y/N) shared a connection like no other. So, it came as no surprise to anyone when they got together. Even after Stiles had continuously professed his love for Lydia. Even after (Y/N) and Boyd had a quick fling. Everyone knew that it would be the two of them at the end of the day.
What no one expected was that one day, they wouldn’t be Stiles and (Y/N) anymore. Hell, not even they had seen it coming.
Their downfall had begun the second week of December. For some reason, the couple had not spoken about what happened after high school. In their senior year, they were focusing on the present, leaving the future where it was. Because what they didn’t know couldn’t hurt them.
(Y/N) had applied under early action to various colleges, thinking nothing of it. But there was one college that had been her dream since her father had passed, and that was her only early decision application. She had worked every day since to make sure she was at least close to being accepted. But it was never a sure thing.
She had promised herself to put it in the back of her mind. Stressing over that envelope would only drive her into madness. As much as she wanted it to be true, she knew the reality of the situation. The chances she could ever get in, much less with a full ride, were slim to none. And hoping only made things worse.
Still, that hadn’t stopped her from applying; it hadn’t stopped her from wishing.
“Honey,” her mother had said one afternoon after she got home from school. “Look what came in the mail.”
In her hands, there was a white manila envelope with blue lettering that clearly read: University of Oxford.
(Y/N) could have sworn she could feel her heart in her throat, beating at an unnatural pace and threatening to leap out of her body. She crossed the distance between her front door to the kitchen faster than she had ever done before, needing to feel the paper in her hands. Only seeing it was not proof enough that it was real.
“I don’t think I can open it,” the girl worried. “What if it’s bad, mom?”
“You won’t know unless you see, my darling,” she smiled softly. “But no matter what, you will still be the most impressive young lady I have known. And any college would be lucky to have you.”
With trembling hands, she broke open the envelope and pulled out a beautiful and crisp piece of white paper. “Dear (Y/N) (Y/L/N),” she read before taking a steadying breath. “It is with greatest pleasure that we inform you that the Admissions Comittee has decided to offer you admission to Oxford University through our binding Early Decision (ED) option on a full scholarship.”
As (Y/N) read those words, tears spilled from her eyes, and the papers fell from her hands. Her mother wrapped her arms tightly around her, showering her with words of love and encouragement. It had been everything she had worked for. Something not even the supernaturals of the world could take from her.
“You’re going to Oxford, baby girl,” her mother cooed. “I knew you could. Your dad would have been just as proud as I am.”
That moment should have been the happiest in her life so far. But there was a dark cloud that lingered over her as she celebrated. She had not told anyone she was applying to a college so far away, much less the reason she would be doing so. Mostly because she was terrified she wouldn’t get in. But part of her knew it was because she was leaving all her friends behind, leaving Stiles behind. And that was the hardest part.
For the rest of the week, as she celebrated internally, she hid the biggest news of her life from all of her friends and the boy she had deemed the love of her life. Anyone would have thought she was the one harboring a secret supernatural life with the way she was guarding her secret. And, maybe it shouldn’t have been something she kept to herself. Maybe they would have all been excited for her and understood the reason for the distance. But something deep in her stopped her every single time.
If her friends had noticed there was anything different from her demeanor, they didn’t say a thing. In the midst of final exams and the Christmas holidays soon approaching, everyone seemed to be stuck in their own heads. So, if they were in their heads, they couldn’t know there was something happening in hers.
But that Friday night, at the same hour Stiles would always sneak in, (Y/N) knew there was no way she could continue to hide her secret any longer.
“Come on,” he chuckled as he jumped onto her bed, holding his arms open. “Tell me what’s going on with you.”
“What do you mean?” she said, forcing a smile. “Why do you say that?”
“You know you can’t lie to me. I may not have super hearing, but I can tell, (Y/N).”
“Yeah,” she chuckled softly. “You know me too well.”
“Of course I do,” he smiled as he crossed the distance between them and caressed the softness of her cheek. “Now, please, tell me what’s wrong?”
That was it. That was the moment that had changed them, the moment that had broken them.
(Y/N) took a steadying breath and took his hands in hers, focusing on the veins on his hands rather than his worried eyes. “I got a letter last week,” she started with a sigh. “I told you about all the colleges I had applied to as early action.”
“Of course, you bright mind, you,” he said. “Did you already start getting the acceptance letters?”
“Uh, there’s another college I actually applied to. Early decision.”
“Like binding early decision?”
“Yeah, exactly,” she said, her voice trembling as she spoke. “I, uh, I applied to the University of Oxford. And I got in.”
Instead of embracing her, Stiles dropped her hands, taking a step away from her. “In England?” he asked as though he was offended. “Why would you wanna go that far?”
“It’s not about the distance,” she grimaced, finally meeting his hurt eyes. “It’s about what that school means. That’s where my dad went to school. That’s the place my parents met. That was the school that started my entire life, Stiles.”
“So, why didn’t you tell me about it? If it was so damn important, why did you never mention it?” Stiles seethed, tears forming in the corners of his eyes. “You wanna start a new life, is that it? Follow in your parents’ footsteps and meet the love of your life there? Great, (Y/N). And you made sure you did it in a way you couldn’t back out.”
“Stiles, that’s not…”
“So, what? Were you gonna wait until graduation to tell me that you were moving halfway across the world to get away from us? From me?” the boy cried. “Or were you simply going to disappear and start a new life without telling anyone? But I guess that’s your thing now, huh? Keeping big shit like this until you can’t anymore.”
“That’s not fair, Stiles,” she frowned, hugging her arms tightly across her torso. “I didn’t want to get my hopes up, so I didn’t say anything. That doesn’t mean that I would have never told you about it. I’m not looking to escape. I’m looking to start my future.”
“And it looks like you were starting it without me then,” he croaked. “What does that mean for us, (Y/N)? We ride it out until graduation, and then you leave for the rest of your life?”
“I don’t… you wanna b-break up?”
“It’s inevitable now, isn’t it?” Stiles said in a tone that broke her more than the words he was speaking. “You’re gonna be in England, and I’m gonna be god knows where. It’s better just to do it now.”
That night was nothing like she had imagined it would be. She had hoped Stiles would have been excited for her and promised her everything would be alright. That somehow he would have the answers to how they could withstand so much distance because they had to make it. Out of everyone in their friend group, those two had to make it.
Instead, it had taken a turn for the worse. One second, Stiles was standing before her with a smile on his face, and the next, he was leaving through her window with tears streaming down his face. What she had most been dreading was that scenario to play out, and a week before their friend’s holiday party, it had. They had gone through life-threatening and mind-boggling situations, but it was a college acceptance letter that broke them apart.
The coming days (Y/N) spent buried in bed. Although she should have been celebrating one of her biggest achievements –other than saving lives and defeating many, many creatures– she had wasted more tears during that time than she had done the past years of her life. She was distraught and defeated, and she had no idea how she would make it through the last semester of high school, much less how she would have made it through a Christmas party.
Somehow, they had arrived at Scott’s house at the same time, even after she had made sure she left twenty minutes after Stiles. The universe liked to play its mean tricks, but that one was almost unforgivable.
“Let’s just try to stay out of each other’s way,” he grimaced. “The less we are near each other, the harder it’ll be for them to find out.”
“Harder to find out what?” Scott asked as he swung the front door open, his signature goofy grin stretched across his mouth. Instinctively, Stiles draped his arm around (Y/N)’s shoulders and smiled brightly. “Ooh, did you bring your brownies, (Y/N)?”
“Yeah,” she smiled. “Still warm from the oven.”
“Wouldn’t be a party without them,” Stiles commented. “Now, let us in. It’s kinda cold out tonight.”
The second they were inside, Stiles broke for the living room while (Y/N) moved to the kitchen with Scott. She set the tray on the overfilled kitchen island, noticing to the side that the dinner table was perfectly set up. “Oh, the table looks nice,” she commented. “But I thought we’d be doing something more low-key.”
“Yeah,” he chuckled awkwardly. “Lydia thought it’d be fun to do a more grown-up dinner party.”
“Yeah. Place settings and everything.”
“We were waiting for you guys to start eating,” he said. “We’re doing gifts after.”
“Sounds like a plan.”
Slowly, the rest of the group trickled into the kitchen, greeting and hugging (Y/N) as they looked over all the food and served themselves their plates. And, of course, her seat was right next to Stiles’. Even if she had wanted to sit anywhere else, the rest had already taken their assigned seats, and the only open spot was the one that had her name.
She gave her ex-boyfriend a small smile, looking anywhere but into the brown of his eyes. Her heart beat against her chest, threatening to jump out of her body. It made her fidgety as everyone ate, thinking any of the wereanimals around her would be able to tell how she was feeling.
But Scott was laughing with Stiles, Malia was talking to Lydia, and Hayden, Liam, and Mason had their own conversation running. (Y/N) was all by herself. She was surrounded by all the people she loved, but it was the loneliest she had felt in a long time. Without the usual comforting words from Stiles, she couldn’t help but feel so out of place. It was the happiest time of the year, but the girl was miserable, and it hurt that it didn’t seem like the boy she loved was sad as well.
“Alright,” Lydia spoke up as everyone ignored their mostly empty plates. “Now that our bellies are full, I think it’s time for Secret Santa! And I truly hope you all kept it a secret this time.”
“Not that it’d matter anyway,” Liam chuckled. “We all know we ask for help every time.”
“Anyways,” she said, ignoring the soft laughter that erupted from the group. “Let’s go to the living room, and (Y/N) you’ll go first.”
“Oh, uh, sure,” she smiled as she followed the group into the living room. She crouched under the decorated Christmas tree, pulling out the gift that had been there for almost two weeks. “I got Lydia.”
“How wonderful!” the redhead mused, quick to hug her friend and rip away the wrapping paper. Inside the gift box was a mosaic picture of Lydia, Allison, and (Y/N), the first time they had finally considered each other friends. “Oh, it’s beautiful! I wish I could take it with me everywhere.”
“It was hard to get it just right, but I loved how it turned out.”
“It’s perfect, (Y/N),” she beamed. “Thank you.”
“Of course. I love you, Lids.”
“Love you too,” the girl said as she wrapped her friend in a tighter hug. “My turn!”
Lydia had gifted Liam nine books out of his TBR list —nine because of his lacrosse number. Then, Liam gifted Scott a new leather jacket so he could “actually look cool when riding his motorcycle,” Liam snickered. Scott then gifted Malia a light blue hoodie to add to her ever-growing collection, while Malia gifted Hayden a journal and pen set, saying it was for when her mind felt too busy. After a warm smile and a hug, she announced her gift was for Mason, laughing as he pulled out an ugly cat sweater. Once the loud laughter subsided, Mason gifted Stiles a massage mat for his Jeep.
“For when you’re taking really long drives,” the boy smiled, clearly proud of himself. “There’s quite some distance between here and D.C. It’ll come in handy.”
“Yeah,” he chuckled as he hugged Mason. “Thanks, man. It’s great.”
“Don’t mention it.”
As Mason sat back down, Stiles cleared his throat as he pulled the last gift. Everyone knew by then who it was for. There was no one else left. “Well, I guess you all know who this is for,” he said. “I hope you like it, (Y/N).”
The girl received the bag with a soft smile, trying her best to swallow the tears that were threatening to spill. She had forgotten for a second how cruel the universe could be. She pulled out the white tissue paper first before finding a beautiful brown bear dressed in a blue knit sweater. Around its neck, there was a necklace with something she could only assume was a soundwave. With curiosity washing over her, she looked to Stiles for an explanation.
“Uh, so, it’ll make a lot more sense if you press the bear’s hand,” he stammered. Once she died as told, the sound broke her. From deep in the belly of the teddy bear, her father’s voice rang out, singing the words of “You Are My Sunshine.” There was not a single night when she was little that her father didn’t sing that to her, and even as she grew old for the lullaby, he would call her sunshine. “I got a recording from your mom of your dad singing the song when you were a baby,” Stiles spoke over the music. “And the necklace is the image of the soundwave of your dad calling you sunshine.”
Tears had long since fallen down her cheeks, clutching the bear in her arms as though it was her own father. With her eyes closed, it was almost as though he was right there, singing to her. But it was what came after the song that shattered her. “You’re gonna do great things, (Y/N),” her father said through the bear. “I love you forever, my little sunshine.”
At that moment, all she wanted to do was hug Stiles and kiss him like she had done a million times before. That was the boy she had fallen in love with. The one that cared and listened. The one that had made her heart race and her stomach turn into butterflies. She wanted to tell him she loved him and never let him go, but she couldn’t. Just like she could never do with her father.
“I, uh,” she said as she stood from the couch, feeling as though she would faint in the crowded room. “I need some air.”
(Y/N) stammered her way out of the living room and through the front door, only allowing herself to break down when she was at the end of the driveway. She fell to her knees and hugged the bear to her chest as she cried, letting the hurt that had accumulated over the years spill onto the pavement. In less than six months, she was going to walk into a new life halfway across the globe without the support of her father and now, without the support of Stiles. All alone.
She should have been celebrating. She knew that. She should have been crying tears of joy and jumping into her love’s arms. Instead, it was the bear’s arms that she could feel. The softness of its fur, the sound of her father’s voice.
Without even realizing it, she had begun singing along to the lullaby, sniffling between words as the tears didn’t relent. “You’re gonna do great things, (Y/N),” her father said once more through the bear. “I love you forever, my little sunshine.”
“I love you too, dad,” she cried.
“Hey,” his voice startled her. Through teary eyes, she looked up to find Stiles draping a jacket over her shoulders. He slid to the ground next to her, facing the house before them as she was now. “I’m sorry. I bought the gift weeks ago, and I wasn’t sure if I was still allowed to give it to you.”
“No, it was… i-it was perfect,” she stammered, running her hand over the bear’s fur. “It’s just everything rushed over me. Like the breakup, the fact that I won’t be here next year, the fact that my dad won’t even see me gradua…”
Another string of sobs ransacked (Y/N)’s body, but that time it wasn’t the bear she was hugging. Stiles had wrapped his arms around her, pressing her into his chest. She could smell his cologne and feel his warmth, a feeling she had missed for the past seven days. All she wanted was to melt into his touch and profess to him all that she felt. But she couldn’t. Not anymore. Because he didn’t want it.
“I didn’t want things to be this way,” she cried into his chest. “I didn’t want everything to fall apart.”
Stiles remained quiet as she cried, a hard feat for someone like him. But he let her cry and cry until only quiet sniffles filled the air. Because he hadn’t wanted things to be that way either.
He knew he had overreacted. When he had told (Y/N) his plans of enrolling in George Washington University all the way across the county, she had told him they could make it work. Especially if she got into any of the ivy leagues she had applied to on the East Coast. It had been fine. Hell, it had been perfect.
But when she told him that she wouldn’t just be a couple of states away but that she would be on another continent, he couldn’t help but let his abandonment issues take control.
He knew she was brilliant. He knew she deserved to do and be all that she had dreamed. But he feared that once she achieved all of her goals, he would just not fit into her life anymore.
“You’re gonna go on to do great things, (Y/N),” he sighed sadly as her tears stopped. “You’re gonna go to Oxford, just like your parents, and you’re gonna probably graduate at the top of your class on your way. And I’ll be here —well, in Washington, technically—cheering you on.”
“But why couldn’t we be great together, Stiles? We couldn’t we both go on to do great things, together?”
“Come on, (Y/N). Once you’re there, you’re gonna meet so many people, and you’ll have guys falling on their knees for you,” he chuckled dryly. “I won’t fit into your new world. I mean, you said it yourself: that’s where your parents met and your life began. And now, maybe you’ll have a new beginning. And years from today, we’ll run into each other, and you’ll tell me about your job and your husband and your kids, and I’ll be so happy for you. Because you serve all the love and happiness in the world, even if it’s without me.”
“Have you even asked yourself if that’s what I want?” (Y/N) asked as she left his warm embrace, her red eyes boring into his. “I’m not leaving because I’m searching for a new life. I want to go to Oxford because it’s one of the last things I can share with my dad. I can walk down the same halls he did, I can take classes in the same classrooms, and eat at the same places he did. But I was always going to come back, Stiles. Because my friends are here, my mom is here, because you are here. I don’t want to run into you and talk about another man or the kids I would have with him. I don’t want to run into you at all. I want to walk beside you, Stiles. If I ever have kids, it’s only if they’re a part of you too,” she cried, fresh tears falling down her already-stained cheeks. “If you don’t love me anymore, then fine. I can understand that, and I can walk away. But don’t you dare say that you wouldn’t fit into my life because you’ve been there longer than anyone I know, and I need you to be there until the end. Because I already lost someone important to me and I can’t lose you too. Not you.”
“(Y/N), I don’t want to lose you either,” he sobbed. “But how can we fight with the distance? How could we ever withstand the fact that we’ll be an ocean away?”
“We have gone through worse battles than a plane ride, Stiles. We have been on the brink of death more times this past year than any person would in their lifetime. Do you really think being in a different time zone is the limit to our relationship? I know the future isn’t promised but you were the one person I always knew would be there.”
“I’m scared, okay?! I’m scared that you’ll meet someone better than me, (Y/N). I’m terrified that you’ll realize that maybe I’m not the guy that can give you your happy ever after,” he finally confessed. His voice croaked, and his chest heaved as the words fell out of his mouth faster than he could ever stop them. “This week has been torture without you. But it’s made me realize that Beacon Hills has always been too small for you. After May, you’re gonna go out there and find your place. And this town will be nothing but a memory you’ll come back to.”
“There is no one better for me than you, Stiles, and Beacon Hills will always be my home,” she replied softly. Her cold hand found his cheek, and she wiped away his tears with her thumb. “I don’t want to know a life where you’re not there. You can’t give up on us without even trying, Stiles. You just can’t.”
Without thinking twice, (Y/N) crashed her lips onto his, sinking into the warmth of his mouth. After a week, kissing him felt like the very first time. It was desperate and filled with need —the need for closeness and passion, the need for love. Instinctively, Stiles’ hands found her waist and pulled her closer to him, wondering how he ever thought he could live without her touch.
“I love you, Stiles, and I don’t even want to think about ever having to love someone else,” she whispered as she parted from him. “My heart belongs to you. And if this is the end, it’ll still remain in your hands.”
“I couldn’t love anyone else like I love you, (Y/N),” he replied with a soft smile. “But I just can’t help the thoughts that flood my brain sometimes.”
“Then don’t listen to them and listen to me when I say that since the moment I met you, I’ve known you were it for me. There is no other man waiting for me in Oxford. It’s you, and it will always be you,” (Y/N) said before kissing him softly once more. “You’re the best thing that has happened to me, Stiles Stilinski, and you’re the only thing that I want to keep happening to me.”
“I can’t believe I ever broke up with you. Especially during Christmas,” Stiles chuckled as he rested his forehead against hers, flicking the tip of her nose with his own. “It was honestly the worst week of my life.”
“Including being possessed?” Scott’s voice startled them as he came into view. “Although, I get it because this was completely avoidable.”
(Y/N) chuckled as she took Scott’s extended hand and got on her feet, wiping away any tears that still remained. “Did you hear that whole thing?”
“More or less,” he chuckled. “It’s a bit hard not to when I was coming to see if you guys were okay.”
“We’re good now, Scotty,” Stiles grinned. “Just had some unresolved feelings to work, though.”
“Can you not mention the whole thing about the breakup? I don’t wanna make it a whole thing.”
“That’s a bit hard, (Y/N),” Malia called from the open front door. “We all kind of already know.”
“Oh, cool, great,” she said as she hid in Stile’s embrace. “That’s not embarrassing at all.”
“Eh, at least our parents are back together,” Liam commented. “Best Christmas present.”
“It really is, huh?” Stiles whispered as he kissed the top of her head.
“Yes. Very cute and adorable,” Lydia added in a desperate tone. “Now, can we go back inside before Hayden and Mason finish all the brownies?”
As the group walked back into the house, Stiles and (Y/N) shared one more moment together on the front porch. “Hey, look up,” Stiles said with a smile. “Mistletoe.”
“Funny that they’d hang that at a werewolf's home,” she chuckled. “Although, I’m pretty sure that one’s plastic.”
“And I’m pretty sure you’re supposed to kiss me.”
“Maybe I’m waiting for another guy to kiss under the plant.” Stiles frowned at her words, and all she could do was laugh. “Too soon?”
“Much,” he said. “Now, come here.”
He snaked his hands on either side of her face and kissed her passionately. He kissed her for every day they had spent apart. He kissed her for every hurtful word he had spewed. He kissed her as a promise of his love for her. Stiles kissed her like she was his future.

thank you for saving me
liam dunbar x fem!reader
wc: ~2.5k
liam’s anxiety and IED isn’t explored and talked about enough in either fanfics or the actual show, so i tried to do this sweet boy some justice. he’s just trying his best
set in season 4, but definitely not too canon
"why did we get sent to the school, aren't we here enough?" you kicked your feet, looking for any sign of kate, or the benefactor, or any clue to absolutely anything going on in your life right now. you'd been scott's beta for all of a few weeks, and all of your spare time had been spent trying not to die. being a werewolf was definitely cool, but you had no idea how exhausting it would be. you'd come to the school with liam, hoping to find something, anything that would give you insight into any one of the millions of things going on.
liam chuckled, walking alongside you. he knew how important it was to find something, but he couldn't take his focus off of you.
the entire ride over he stared at you, watching how the moonlight glistened on your skin as you ranted to him. your hands rested on the steering wheel as you spoke and he admired your hands, how soft they looked, how beautiful your nails were. he watched the lines on your face intensify the more passionate you got about whatever you were talking about — liam didn't know. he didn't care, frankly. anytime you spoke, he was entranced by your oh-so-pretty voice, words having no meaning other than the butterflies they were leaving in his stomach.
you looked at him in the passenger seat, a smirk forming to contrast the flush on your cheeks. he was caught, he knew it. but he couldn’t find himself to mind. he smiled at you, a blush matching on his own face.
he straightened his shoulders out, checking behind him as he passed the chemistry lab. "I don't know, but I hope we find something quick and can get out of here."
you didn't hear what he said.
his fingertips brushed against yours as you walked together and your mind wandered from the plan for the thousandth time that evening. every time liam mindlessly brushed against you, all sight of what you were doing was thrown out the window. your survival anxiety was replaced with limerence, yearning for the touches to linger longer. butterflies flooded your stomach as his hand did just that. in fact, your own heartbeat overtook your senses as you felt liam grab ahold of your hand. you looked up at him, blushing like a madman.
“you had no idea how long —” he shushed you quickly, stopping you dead in your tracks and tilting his head, listening. you tried to tune in to whatever he heard.
liam knew the sound of those footsteps anywhere. they haunted him, not just in his nightmares, but out on the field, in the classroom — wherever he went, they followed. taunting him.
he turned around to see the creature trudging towards them. he felt the hairs stand on the back of his neck and the blood drain from his face. seeing the berserker in front of him again felt worse than he could've imagined, and he froze as the beast made his way towards the two of you.
"liam, what do we do?"
silence.
"liam? should we fight? should we run?"
"liam?"
liam watched in a haze as kira used her katana against the berserker, his vision fading in and out. there was a lot of things he didn't know yet, but these things had to be the craziest he had found out about so far. he didn't know what to do. they were so strong, so fast, and the wounds he'd been given weren't healing. he watched as kira was tossed across the roof like she was nothing.
his breathing quickened.
what was he supposed to do? how did scott do this?
he groaned at the pain, trying to push himself up, only to be kicked back against the electrical panel. his vision blackened and his panic intensified.
seriously, what was he supposed to do? he wasn't strong enough. he couldn't possibly do this. he-
"liam, look out!"
he came to, hearing your voice and feeling you shove against him. he let out a grunt as you took place where he stood: directly where the berserker was aiming his bone-covered fist. you let out a scream as you flew backwards, hitting the ground so hard the tiles shattered beneath where you landed. you clenched your abdomen immediately, blood pooling out of the gashes caused by the sharp bone pointing out of the creature’s knuckle plate.
you choked on your own words, fighting to stay awake as pain coursed through your veins. "l-liam..."
liam's body flooded with rage in a split second. his claws came out and he roared, sprinting at the berserker without a second thought. he threw punches, hard and strong, making the beast before him stumble back. it held defense against liam as he grew more powerful, his anger in seeing you hurt feeding his strength, adrenaline surging through him.
unfortunately, it wasn't enough to keep the berserker down for long. the beast threw a punch, sending liam flying into the lockers with a power ten times that of the beta. with his imprint heavy in the metal, he lay on the ground, spitting blood and scrambling to crawl backwards as the berserker stomped towards him. liam made his way to you, covering you from the incoming a attack, and trying to hide you as far in the corner as he could. as quickly liam flinched away at the berserker breaking into a sprint towards him, he heard the creature stop. he looked up to see it retreating out the high school entrance.
he took a deep breath, looking down at you and assessing the wounds in your side. worry flooded his senses, seeing you barely conscious and feeling how much pain you were in as he grabbed where your arm was holding your stomach. panic bubbled in his throat, breathing beginning to hitch and stagger as he pulled up your shirt to see your wound.
he grimaced at the sight. it was deep, bloody, and most importantly: it wasn't healing.
"shit, (y/n). why did you do that? it shouldn’t have been you, i, fuck."
you groaned slightly, unable to keep your eyes open.
"i'm... i'm okay, l-liam." you slurred out.
"please just, keep your eyes open, (y/n), we're going to get you some help."
liam's ears perked up at the sound of footsteps; this time multiple, yet not as heavy. whoever it was, liam was filled with dread. he needed to get you out of here, and he couldn't do that while fighting off someone else. he began to scoop you in his arms, apologizing relentlessly as you whined, half-consciously whimpering at the pain from being moved. he got to his feet, whispering in your ear that you were okay, that he was taking you somewhere.
"liam!"
his eyes shot up at the sound of scotts voice. he let out a heavy breath at the sight of scott, stiles, and derek running towards you.
"guys, please, she's really hurt. it hurt her, and, and, i-i, i don't know shes not healing. please, help her." he whined.
immediately, derek grabbed you and headed out the way they came. he yelled back on his way out, "I'll meet you guys at deaton's!"
scott whipped his head around to liam after derek had left. "what the hell do you think you were doing?!"
liam stumbled backwards. "w-what?"
stiles crossed his arms. "listen, i know you think you're all tough-guy mr. bad werewolf now, but in case you don't remember how your first fight went, these guys don't lose. and they're fucking huge! are you just stupid or something?"
"i don't she pushed me out of the way and i —”
"liam, why did you attack it? why didn't you run? you guys could've gotten way more hurt than you did. stiles is right, that was stupid of you."
liam felt defeated. not only did he freeze and get you hurt, but he was stupid enough to keep you there in that position while he freaked out on that thing.
he was embarrassed. they were right, he shouldn't have attacked the berserker. he was disappointed in himself, disappointed in how rashly he acted, and how quickly he let his anger take over him. this isn't what scott would've done; this isn't what he should've done. he felt ashamed, his body language following suit to reflect that. scott picked up on the scent change immediately, and his face softened.
"hey, liam —”
"no, you guys are right. i shouldn't even be a part of this, I just explode and mess everything up. I'm sorry, I, I don't know I just saw her hurt and I stopped thinking, I just got so angry and acted like a monster and I —”
"liam!" scott placed his hands on his beta's shoulders, giving him a reassuring look. "you were scared. you reacted, trying to protect (y/n). you're still new to all of this, you're still learning. you're not stupid. I'm sorry we yelled at you."
"no i definitely think he was pretty stupid —"
"stiles!"
"what? tell me i'm wrong, look at those things. even peter runs at the sight of them." stiles scoffed.
scott scowled at his best friend. "go easy on him, dude. we weren't perfect at this either. we still aren't,"
he turned back towards liam. "go, go check in on her. derek took her to the clinic. I'm sure she'll want to see you when she comes to."
liam hesitantly nodded, muttering another apology as he started towards the doors of the school.
"liam!"
he turned back to face scott.
"this wasn't your fault. you kept her safe, don't beat yourself up."
liam opened the door to see derek wide-eyed staring down at him. he barely opened his mouth before he was pulled into the clinic, stumbling in derek’s grasp.
"good, you're just in time.”
light flooded liam's eyes as he entered the exam room, (y/n) laying on the table, still unconscious. his stomach turned and he felt overwhelmed with anxiety once again seeing you lay there, helpless. scott's words of assurance echoed in his head, but he couldn't help but feel guilty. like he could've prevented this.
"in time? for, for what?" liam shuffled to the table where deaton and derek stood.
deaton wore a concerned face — almost apologetic.
"we need you to help hold her down."
liam was puzzled. you were unconscious; why would we need to hold you down?
"i dont understand, what do you mean?"
deaton looked to derek, sorrow painted across his features. “she’s not healing, and she’s getting weaker. it was good you helped get her here as soon as you did.”
he let out a hum, looking at you on the table. derek took over.
“when someone isn't healing and you need to trigger the process, there's a pretty foolproof way to get it up and running again,"
he sighed as liam still wasn't catching on.
"it's... it's pain, liam."
he watched the beta's eyes widen. "pain? no i can't, that's, no please I can’t see her hurt anymore tonight. this is already all my fault, I can't be the cause of any more pain, please, isn't there something else you can do? i, i can't —"
"liam,"
he stopped rambling, meeting derek's eyes. he'd never seen him so... empathic.
"liam, i get it. i know what it's like to be angry." he sighed and looked away.
"i used it as my anchor for years. after watching someone I loved die because of me, I didn't know what to do. i didn't know how to handle anything. so I got angry. and it consumed me,"
he stepped closer towards the teenager. "i know what it's like to feel like a monster."
liam looked down at the ground. he didn't understand what derek was telling him, let alone why he was telling him. he started to shake his head, but he was cut off with a hand on his shoulder.
"you're not a monster, liam. that anger? it makes you powerful. i told that to scott the day I met you — that you were strong. there's no reason your anger can't be used as an advantage. but that's only if you know how to control it and bring it out when you need it,"
"don't let it define you like it did me."
liam made eye contact with him. he heard derek's heartbeat: it hadn't faltered once this whole time. he took a deep breath and nodded.
"okay. what do you need me to do?"
deaton smiled, quickly ushering the two to either side of you.
"liam, stand by her head and hold her shoulders. she'll need a comforting face when coming to. derek, hold her legs. this isn't going feel great."
liam gripped hard on your shoulders. "wait, what are you —"
deaton didn't waste any time grabbing your forearm and pushing down, hard. the sound of bone snapping cracked throughout the room, causing a similar sensation in liam's chest. his eyes widened at the realization of what was happening.
you shot up with a roar, eyes flashing gold as you screamed in pain. you snapped your arms out of the grasp of those around you, your free hand flying to the broken, immediately resetting it with another painful wail.
with the bone back in place, you took a deep breath, panting as you slowly leaned back down on the exam table. everyone gathered around you, watching with hope as you grew more and more with it.
you lifted your shirt as a tingling sensation flooded your abdomen, all of you watching as the gashes in your side slowly started to patch themselves up. liam let out sigh of relief, staggering back a few feet as solace washed over him. you were okay.
deaton gave you a reassuring smile, patting you on the knee. "good to have you back with us, (y/n). i think we'll let you guys be for a second, you're safe here."
he and derek left the room, quietly discussing their plan for the rest of the evening. liam let his head hang in his hands, wanting to cry at the feeling of relief in seeing you heal. you saw him from where you were laying on the table, slowly sitting up with a whine to face him. he grabbed your arms, helping stabilize you.
"(y/n) i'm so glad you're okay. i can't tell you how afraid i was seeing you hurt. i don't know what i'd do with myself if anything happened to you, I don't, I just —"
you wrapped your arms tightly around his shoulders, hugging him as tightly as you could, not a thought in your mind on the pain shooting through your side. liam stood frozen, not sure what was happening. you let out a sob and held him tighter, causing him to instinctively wrap his arms around you.
"thank you for saving me, liam."
