she deserves to be the first one of your group to begin walking backwards down the beginning of the parade. nevermind the seemingly infinite spawn of white gay twinks and fashion choices that are somehow.. worse! than hers -- she's facing her friends. she's giving them a look. her arm is outstretched, and her hand is holding that of her girl's who she thinks, this time, she might actually really love. she deserves to hold some $5 lemonade above her head while annoyingly shuffling her shoulders to rain on me by lady gaga, and to be clowned (mercilessly) because 1) she's catching no beat, not one and 2) i thought you didn't even wanna come, what happened? deserves to shrug her shoulders at y'all because.. well, she doesn't know. there's something about it all -- being outside, being surrounded by the energy and screams of pure happiness down the streets -- like maaaybbeee.. it warrants a change of heart. she deserves to struggle to twirl her girl over and underneath her shoulder. deserves to kiss the question clean off your cheek, and to have her chuckles blend in with your giggles while she grits the lyrics, off-key as ever and this time, directly in your ear.

she deserves to make the hike all the way to the greenery that holds drag shows, free stickers, face painting, educational pamphlets on lgbtq+ sex education, free food, outnumbered preachers, fucking larpers?!, you name it -- deserves it all. deserves to venture towards it with something cheshire on her face. with her friends by her side, and her girl against her ribcage. deserves to wonder why she is so fucking into it now. maybe she's just tipsy, or sundrunk. maybe it's the exhaust in the air, or the vibes in the streets, whatever. but honestly? maybe she's smiling so fucking hard because this is just, plain and simple, right where she's supposed to be.

A change in the direction...

I had to take a break to understand which project I can undertake and, well, Wild East will be something I will consider in the future for a number a reasons, but the main one is - I need to read through a ton of sources and it is hard. I just don't have them at hand and it will require a lot of time to find and check their credibility. So I decided to take this blog into another direction - a tale about Mages in modern day Russia who are trying to survive, protect people and keep connection to their roots (which were, mostly, destroyed by USSR).

In this work I will talk about several things, but main beats will be:

1) found family - something that is important for me, because I was raised without father with absent mother so all my father/mother-figures are either reenactors or LARPers;

2) East Slavic folklore and spirits (including Orthodox saints like Paraskeva Pyatnitsa) - a little hobby of mine;

3) how Russian culture formed (influence of Finno-Ugric and other cultures) - it is just an interesting topic for me that not a lot of people talk seriously about;

4) life in Russia as is - with all ups and downs, including what it is to live in a fragment of USSR during an autocracy (and how it happened);

Overall, how magic functions will remind Mage the Awakening meshed with Mage the Ascension, with some inspirations from other works (for example, Magicians by Grossman). It is one of my favorite systems and I think it represents magic craft pretty well.

I will touch on different practitioners of magic - from mages similar to sorcerers (mostly using their innate strength to cast) to casters inspired by different religious figures from indigenous people in Russia (obviously with paid consultants who can advice me how to represent them well in such setting), potion makers, tarot readers, etc.

And to finish things off - some info about the cast.

First, they call themselves "Vseslavichi" (descendants of Vseslav Bryachislavich, who was known as Seer or Sorcerers). They are all somehow related to this prince of Polotsk (or at least they believe so).

Second, there will be six of them. They are based on multiple real-life people that I met and the genders are evenly split.

Third, I want them all to be waifu/husbando material. I don't know if they will have any relationships at all. Maybe they will have romances inside and outside their group, but, again, there is nothing set in stone. I am not even sure about their orientation yet, because it isn't a defining quality for any of them (and, most likely, I will leave it like that). But I know that there will be several LGBTQ+ characters in the supporting cast (and I know people who can help me bring them to life).

Fourth, characters in the main cast have a chance to die. In the current draft of the plot, two out of six will die. I am not sure if this is unavoidable, but we will see. The stakes are too high and the fuck ups from the previous generation are too big.

Fifth, they will evolve and change during the story. They all have their own subplots that affect them in various ways.

oh no! need to be more critical abt who we follow / who’s following us so here’s some opinions:

- we’re mogai. like, as a system we have our separate identities but the body is mogai. we support microlabels. (except for directly harmful ones like “bi lesbians” or “pan gays”)

- we’re pro self-dx. as long as people do their research beforehand and are sure you aren’t harming people by mislabeling, you’re fine. mental health care is nonexistent in a lot of places, and it’s expensive as shit.

- you don’t need dysphoria to be transgender (if you fucking call us tucutes over this or try to debate it i’m going to piss in your bed)

- you don’t have to transition (medically, socially) if you can’t, aren’t ready or don’t want to. you’re still just as valid.

- comparing systemhood to the lgbtq community is a horrible !!! awful terrible thing. if you do it, don’t even think about associating with us. systemhood is not a queer struggle.

- systems are ONLY caused by extreme and/or repeated childhood trauma before the age of 9. you are not ‘endogenic’.

- we do not think of the entire non-traumagenic “community” as LARPers, some of them probably are just very misled systems, but i promise you “plurality” is not just Having Alters.

- this isn’t an issue on twitter so much but you cannot choose the race/gender your alters present, but you can choose to be a decent person and not be culturally appropriative. alters looking like a certain race =/= them being that race.

Here is the video from Captain Anne's last event, the one where I met my now husband! This is the moment I became Knight Captain. The man performing the ceremony is Prince Aylin of New Aldoria. Out of game, he has been like a big brother to me for years, which is why I didn't kick his ass after the event. For the record, I had no idea the ending was coming.

MEET THE CHARACTER: Brynja "The Undying" Blackpaw.

Brynja is my longest current PC, being made roughly four years ago. She is a warrior from the Ulven race (a homebrew, viking themed culture with strong ties to wolves and honorable combat). She is a combat instructor and the Weapon Master of the most elite fighting force on the continent, Pack Longfang. Her title of "Undying" has been earned time and time again in combat, as death never seems to stick to her, despite her dangerous line of work.

She is a mother, a wife, crowned champion of the Grand Melee Tournament, and is canonically transgender!

MEET THE CHARACTER:

My very first larp character, Knight-Captain "Bloody Anne" Cash, a human rogue. Former Mayor of the pirate town New Oarsmeet, and first mate of the Blue Ruby, the fastest pirate ship on the seas. When her captain delved into dark magic, she took any who would follow her to New Aldoria to begin a new life. Working through Prince Aylin, she reformed the New Aldorian Marines and helped them to secure territory for her citizens to settle. Her efforts warranted a knighting ceremony. She has since been working behind the scenes to protect the interests of New Aldoria and keeping an ear out for rumors of her old captain so she can finally put him down. She is a politician, a sailor, and a warrior. She is dangerous, whether with her words, her swords, or her bow.

Brother Dom got to attend a political dinner! As a Lion of Arnath, I must be a shield against the darkness. The dinner involved research into corruption magics and how best to combat them, so we made sure to involve ourselves as much as possible. I was honored to be one of the participants in a ritual to expand our knowledge, and through Arnath's grace, we were successful.

Earlier in the day, I was able to give a sermon on the Book of Brother Joseph and his 9th deed alongside my fellow Lion, Brother Ventaris. We drew a crowd of around 10 people, and saw a surprising amount of audience interaction. It truly warmed my heart to see other attendees willing to learn of the Path of Arnath!
