Did you know that we were mentioned in an article on Broadly, VICE's feminist channel that discusses women and society? They got in touch with us after seeing Charlie's photos and asked if we could introduce them to some kick-ass women roleplayers - so we did!
'I've Seen Women Kill Gods': Meet the Ladies Who LARP
LARPING, or live action role-playing, is more closely associated with socially awkward men in badly made cloaks. But female players say that it's also becoming a platform for women to shine, latex weaponry and all.

Seven million people have been hit with a hosepipe ban this week in the UK and it's the longest heatwave for 40 years. What are you doing to keep yourself safe when it comes to fires at LARP this summer? http://larp.guide/2018/07/fire-safety-for-larp/
Fire Safety for Hot & Dry LARP Events
Well, this is unprecedented. Almost two months of sunshine and barely any rain; the lawn outside my house is suffering something terrible. But more than that - the campsites we use for LARP are suffering …

This is a good set of tips for prepping food before you leave for a LARP event! Jacket potatoes are almost always such a disappointment on the camp fire - they always seem to take ages and never be cooked! And the tip about prepping eggs at home makes me now want to have some kind of omelette next event... https://www.facebook.com/buzzfeedniftyoutdoors/videos/260655351077990/

So it turns out that you don't need an elaborate pizza oven setup to make pizza when you're in a field at LARP! Anyone tried any of these methods before?

A few weeks ago at Empire LRP one of my group had the fantastic idea of buying some marshmallows and biscuits so that the kids could roast the marshmallows over a fire and make messy, squidgy sandwiches for dessert. Of course I recoiled in horror when I realised he meant plain biscuits and not chocolate digestives... apparently not everyone realises that you need chocolate digestives for this dessert so that the chocolate goes all melty on the marshmallow! Anyway, here are some more advanced ideas from over the pond on making campfire desserts!

CONTENT NOTE: THIS VIDEO CONTAINS REAL PHOTOGRAPHS OF GORY INJURIES. None of us want to commit basic beginners mistakes when we're trying to do creative makeup for LARP. This video by Freakmo shows some techniques that are used by many but could be improved upon for a more realistic result.

It's no secret that some people at LARP love making things. Having tried making my own IC-looking hair product before (it works!) I wouldn't be surprised if there were others out there that fancied trying similar things. This essential oil insect repellent could be just the thing to whip up and put in a small glass bottle to keep pesky bugs away at the summer events - an entrepreneurial individual could most likely sell a few for in game cash as well! (But of course - make sure you print up a small list of ingredients to go with it in case of allergies!) https://www.facebook.com/buzzfeedniftyoutdoors/videos/257049788105213/

Does anyone do foil packet cooking at events? Some of these meals look really easy to prepare and they're certainly easy to cook! I wonder if you could prep them at home and bring them along ready to go? Perhaps in the foil containers that you get when you order Chinese takeaway?

Paradigm Shift is a game run by The Grange at Bravo One in Birmingham. This weekend Leah went along to play, and yesterday afternoon she blogged about her experiences. If you're looking for a futuristic sci-fi game that uses airsoft as its combat mechanic - this one might be for you. http://larp.guide/2017/06/paradigm-shift-game-review/

Props can really add an awful lot to a character and in turn a game. A handwritten letter is one of the simplest props you can produce, but what happens when you want to take your letters to the next level? Check out the work of Olga from Inky Letter, she creates amazing hand lettered scrolls packaged in beautiful wooden boxes and sealed with wax! Just the thing to raise your game for a special item for your character... http://larp.guide/2017/05/message-in-a-box-by-inkyletter-shopping-sunday/

Sometimes you have to pack light for traveling to LARP, or perhaps you might even be doing a LARP where you have to carry everything on you for the whole weekend. What are your favourite tips and tricks for packing light for LARP when it comes to food and eating well? http://larp.guide/2017/05/packing-light-larp-food/

For the penultimate Shadow Wars we spent the weekend back over at The Gaol Events at their fantastic prison airsoft site (it's a real prison... you have no idea how cool it feels to LARP there). There were mutants... moonbases... and there was even a friendly mutant. Fancy joining us for the 27th and final Shadow Wars? There might still be some crew spots left. I've seen the player briefings - it's going to be excellent. http://larp.guide/2017/05/shadow-wars-mutants-and-moonbases-photos/

If you've never worn a mask before at LRP, you might not be quite sure what you're looking out for when purchasing your first one. In this post Leah has written about the things you must keep in mind when considering masks for a new character. http://larp.guide/2017/05/masks-for-roleplaying/

It's always a challenge for professionals who lend their skills to LRP on a voluntary basis. Knowing where to draw the line between donating your time and charging for it can be difficult. http://larp.guide/2017/04/money-at-lrp-again/

What makes excellent horror LARP? This weekend there has been a fabulous team running in Scotland (and hopefully we'll hear more about that soon), but in the meantime Leah from gets into the gritty of how you write good horror games for LRP. http://larp.guide/2017/02/writing-good-horror-games/
Writing Good Horror Games for LRP
I am a coward. I’m scared of the dark, of small places, of heights, of strange noises, of people. I thought for years that I wouldn’t be able to cope with horror games so I tried …
