You know, some people celebrated the end of Pride Month via private message.

Do you know what I tell him?

That pride never ends, it's not a question of month, it's a question of human rights.

On Tiktok I lost 150 followers during pride month, but it's better this way, I don't want that rubbish on my social.

I chose to feature Euphemia today because she has always fought for the rights of minorities, even at the risk of her life.

It’s June 2024 everyone! And that means it’s also Pride Month 2024 a month where we celebrate LGBTQ+ 🏳️‍🌈 pride, culture and acceptance! Starting back in the 1960s to 1970s from the riots back in Stonewall that caused a uprising in protests and since then we’ve grown to acknowledge, accept and respect many people who identify with other sexualities, gender and orientations rather than being heterosexual (aka straight) such as lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender + queer and many more (like asexuality, aromance, pansexuality, panromance, polysexual, demisexual, demigender, graysexual, transsexual, and so many more!) while the struggle and the many forms of discrimination, oppression, prejudice and stereotyping have had major blows to the LGBTQ community, we stayed strong and committed for a better future!

I don't mind the corporate rainbow conversion and sponsorship. Even if it is just for one month and it could just be for money, at least it's something. At least these companies want our business and our money. At least they aren't trying to avoid us. At least it's a push in the right direction.

They're spending time and money to be a rainbow for 30 days, cool. Whether it's genuine support or just corporate greed, that's not really what I care a bout.

I care about not having to hide. I care about actually being able to be proud. And seeing rainbows on every package at the grocery store might make it a little harder for a homophobe to act on their hate publically.

No one used to say "happy pride," or even know or recognize the significance or the month for us. And it really wasn't that long ago.

I'll take support, even if its inauthentic, over blatant homophobia and exclusion.

A JOURNEY OF SURVIVAL: MY LIFE AS LGBTIQ REFUGEE IN EAST AFRICA🌈

Hello, my name is AshleymilesPhil, 21years old and I’m a queer refugee originally from Uganda. This is my story, but it’s also the story of hundreds of LGBTIQ refugees who have been persecuted, abandoned, and left fighting for their lives simply because of who we are.

Growing up in Uganda, being queer was not just dangerous—it was life-threatening. Uganda’s laws and society are brutally unforgiving to anyone who dares to live openly as LGBTIQ. In constant fear of violence, I had to flee, leaving behind my home, my life, and everything I knew.

My journey first took me to Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya, a place I hoped would offer refuge. But the reality in Kakuma was anything but safe. LGBTIQ refugees there are regularly targeted for physical violence, harassment, and discrimination. We were left vulnerable, isolated, and without support. The camp, rather than being a sanctuary, became a place of daily survival.

Eventually, I found myself in Gorom camp in South Sudan, hoping for something better, but the challenges only deepened. South Sudan’s laws are even more hostile toward the LGBTIQ community. Starvation, lack of medical care, and persecution are daily realities here. Many of us in the camp are living with HIV/AIDS and can’t access proper medication. The physical and emotional toll is overwhelming, but we continue to fight for our right to live, love, and simply exist.

Our lives in these camps are on the line every single day. We are not just struggling with a lack of food, water, and healthcare; we are fighting for our very existence against systems that dehumanize us.

We need help and support .The world needs to know what we are going through. My fellow LGBTIQ refugees and I are in desperate need of support to survive these unimaginable conditions. We are asking for your kindness, your solidarity, and if possible, your support. Even a small contribution can make a difference in our fight for survival.
