I should do more book polls here...
More about each option below
These all stem from the looking at my bookshelf. So some may just be uhh bc interesting. Bc LISTEN I have to many books I've yet to read bc I want to read them all.
1. SOCCK do I need to say more? Favorite Series right here (I may or may not have it basically memorized) and I have a yearly reread of it (like with Ranger's Appretice) I haven't read it this year yet so it gets to be an option (unless you want to count the amazing comic adaptation by @ jccatstudios bc omg it's amazing)
2. Wings of Fire Series. Saw something abt it recently and I own up to Book 13 (tho I'll get 13 and 15 if I end up reading it) + Darkstalker and Dragonslayer. Waaayyyyy back when (like at least 8 years ago) when I last read it was up to Book 8. + Darkstalker I read that one too. So technically I'd read 8 new books if I read this (15 + slayer) Bc who doesn't enjoy rereading childhood books?
3. Ink by Alice Broadway. Skin series. Interesting concept - I almost picked it up once but ended up changing what I was going to read last minute (oops)
4. Uhhh Rick Riordan. Fun Fact I've never read Percy Jackson until 2021 (and before then I thought the movies were good ;-; so bad) So more of his work bc yeah. I own Kane Chronicles and Magus Chase but decided on Kane to be the choice. Peaked my interest more than the other right now.
5. Dark/Spark I got this a while ago at library book sale and and just...haven't read it yet? Superhero esc ans such and I mean look at the titles lol.
6. Hit and Run. Been wanting to read more mysteries.
7. I got the first book off of a 'blind date' book reading thing. (Like nothing but the genre and a sentence abt it wrapped in paper so you don't know what you chose until after. I just never got around to it (I'm horrible I know) I think bc I was in the middle of a different series at that time and it got hidden on my shelf (book overflow before I got more bookshelves lol)
8. Shadow Run. I've had this for a while. Idk feels like it's gonna be a hit or a miss book but I'm adding it anyway. (And I own the 2nd book to so)
9. What If It's Us. Gay. I've been telling myself to read this series for so long and I just NEVER did. Make me do it.
10. Leviathan series. Got this one semi recently, its steampunk and the books are weirdly heavy (bc it has pictures! (Wow so amazing)) Wouldn't of gotten it if I hadn't interested me some :)
Only the first 2 options are rereads (one is semi) then rest I've never read. And please, give me book recommendations!

2, 3, and 17!!
2. Did you reread anything? What?
... yes. Many books. I reread the Selection series by Kiera Cass, the Naturals series by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, the first Outlander book, the Captive Prince triology, Red White and Royal Blue, all of Percy Jackson and the Olympians as well as all of the Heroes of Olympus, and the first Magnus Chase book. All in all, 25 of the books I read this year were rereads 😅
3. What were your top five books of the year?
This is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone, Two Boys Kissing by David Leviathan, The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune, Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo (2nd book in a duology), the King's Men by Nora Sakavic (3rd book in a trilogy)
17. Did any books surprise you with how good they were?
This is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone was a recommendation from a coworker and even though I had high expectations, it still managed to blow them out of the water. I was and am ridiculously in awe of this book. I love it wholeheartedly and it immediately made its way to my favourite books of all time list. Please, please go read it.

Book shelf tour
Because @agenttrying asked I thought I give a short summary of the books I can recommend to read 😊
I will not explain all books but only those I think are worth reading
Shelf 1: Gays in space
Bonds of Brass: gay space adventure (openly gay, based on Finn and Poe. I have not read it yet)
Star Wars Resistance Reborn: Really well written Star Wars book with a lot of FinnPoe action
Star Wars Before the awakening: A easy read about what Finn, Rey and Poe did before Star Wars TFA
Star Trek Dead Endless: Highy recommend! A book full of Hugh/Paul romance
The Loki comics from Kibblesmith
Shelf 2: Victorian Crime
The Sherlock books. Especially “Valley of fear”. It is ACD’s last Sherlock Holmes novel and my favorite
Enola Holmes: The books are really good and an easy read with around 200 pages
AJ Raffles: You should find them as eBooks. It is written by the brother-in-law of ACD and is based on his Sherlock Holmes novel but as a gentleman thief AU. (I have the orginial german versions from 1900). Book 1 was not my cup of tea but it gets better
Murder as a fine art: Abolsut love it. Clever murder in 1850, London. With a heavy OT3 energy. I am just not sure if you get them anymore. The first book was published 2016 and is not avaiable anymore here in germany, hopefully still in english....
The Mangle Street Murders: Have not read it yet. But also set in 1850, London with a female detective. The old lady in the shop said she really likes it
Agatha Christie: The Murder at the Vicarage is hilarious (Miss Marple) and Death on the Nile and Murder on the Orient Express are also really good. Don’t read The Mysterious Affair at Styles. This book is so annyoying, i swear
Shelf 3: Victorian horror, Victorian romance
Camilla - Sheridan Le Fanu: Appearntly Dracula is based on that book. Lesbian vampire action written 1872.
Dracula: Allways an amazing read
Frankenstein: well.... if you can stand charcaters having crisis every second page for 20 pages, then read that, i guess? (I am not a fan)
Jane Austen: Northanger Abbey is a good start. As well as Pride and Prejudice. Emma is a little bit long but also a good read. Mansfield Park.... only if you want to (also not a fan of that one). I have not read the others yet
Shelf 4: Teenage romance
Host: The first 100 pages are shit but then it gets really good imo
Children of Blood and Bone: The structure of the story is really typcial but it is refreshing to finally have a woman of color as the main lead, written by a woman of color, who (i hope i am not wrong) wanted to show the impact of racism with that book
Shelf 5: „We are all a little bit crazy here“
Leviathan triology: My favorite books! YA but also for asults. Re-tells WW1 with steam punk elements and a lot of queer energy. the main character is heavily trans coded, their best friend bisexual-coded and their best friend is canon lesbian.
Good Omens: The book is hilarious
I am not the biggest Pratchett fan but I guess there you can also find something for you
Colin Cotterill: Thailand crime novels. Also amazing! The charcaters and the setting are a fresh new take. Set In thailand, the main characters is a chubby female journalist (but really extroverted), the mother is a tiny bit crazy, the brother is a body builder but starts crying at any giving moments, the sister is trans and a hacker, and the best friend is one of the best police officers in Thailand but has to solves cases in a tiny village because the other police officers can not accept that he is gay. But in the tiny village noone cares and he is fabolous af!
So that’s it. I hope there is something for you. If not, I still have another shelf

Apparently I have a type and it’s girls masquerading as boys, fighting in wars and getting shit done
if you’re in the market for a good YA read and like the sounds of WWI steampunk/biopunk, crossdressing, and unlikely friendships, I always recommend the Leviathan triology by Scott Westerfeld. ALWAYS.

Original Versus XIII plot from Japanese forum
-Noctis was going to die too, but In a more symbolic manner, He dies on his throne like if He was going to sleep (reference to somnus) - Prompto and gladio would have betrayed Noctis at some point In The original triology, prompto because niflheim and his dad, verstael ( who was a very bigger antagonist ), gladio did it because He did approve noct as a friend but not as a king. ( like In xv) - cor dies in The last game In Noctis arms, saying he is proud to see how He has grown up, He was also The driver with The mustache In The eralier trailer. He is an orphan, He immigrated in lucis. - Regis dies at The end of The first game. His killer is named below. - Stella would have lived, but not In a very good health, she is not The main antagonist of versus xiii, her parents were killed when she was a child. Her brother became a double spy for The lucis/tenebrae alliance and niflheim ( more precisely ardyn ). She suffered a near death experience, The high ranking officer In charge of her tried to kill her by orders - There was FOUR major villains In versus XIII : Ravus in The first game, Verstael In The second game, Ardyn ( who was named arden In this time ) In The third game. Clarus amicitia ( The original who was named Noctis evil uncle by fans In e3 2013 ) was The one who killed regis and permited niflheim to secretly organise an invasion, because jealousy and consider his friend as an egoistic king ( reference to glauca ) - Ravus was more calm and used magic from tenebrae, he was blind because he could see the dead like noctis but didn't support it, He is The final boss of The first game but dies In The second game, stella kills him, without knowing it was him under The hood, because of Ardyn. - Verstael was The most dangerous villain of versus xiii. He is obsessed with The powers of The royal blood. He used human test subjects from annexed nations of solheim and tenebrae. He infused his son prompto with magitek but it was a failure so he left him. He makes prompto betray The group and blasts some of insomnia with a magitek blast. When Ardyn kills onscreen iedolas In gralea, verstael becomes The new ruler of niiflheim, He makes experiments on both Noctis and prompto to recreate one of The being that created eos but this monstrosity kills him, this thing is The final boss of The second game, and prompto dies at The end of this battle. It's later revealed that He made a magic pact with Ardyn. Like Ravus. - iedolas had a more important role since The peace treaty was an In game scene. He also bullies Ardyn In one scene, Noctis help The chancellor, but this was a ruse from him, playing The victim. - Gladio takes a shot from his father destined to noctis. Noctis then kills clarus. The scene from first trailer from 2006 take place after this scene ( third game ) - Aranea had The same script, basically anti heroic, and guest character - Gentiana had a completly different role, she was THE oracle from versus xiii. She is eventually stella close friend. She is revealed to be a descendant of The real royal bloodline making her ancestor eos. She is shiva's reincarnation. Her outfit was not The black dress she has now. Her design was more samurai-ish.
Ardyn was not meant to be a former king of lucis, In The first game, He doesn't have much screentime, we know only his name and position, and that He has a funny side, In The second game we see him as The real cause of Stella position against Noctis : He manipulates both Fleuret siblings because they have a magical power of light capable of countering lucis clan powers who are said to be Fueled from darkness. He also kills iedolas detonating a hidden flare spell In his gun. His motives are only revealed In The third game : He is The "first being created" by etro who was tasked to guide humans to peace. But they were always Fighting for power, so He created darkness to maintain a balance and gave it to gentiana's ancestors, who were superior beings (Summons). But a lucis caelum Fell In love with one of etro's daughters, thus making The Current bloodline. It was originaly a ruse from The lucis caelum clan to retrieve this power from The summons. The mastermind was arden because He judged that He deserved this power more than humans. This created The plague of stars. Etro punished him and He was outcasted from godhood, living now among humans for eternity... His Current goal In versus xiii is to make The lucis caelum and Nox fleuret ( who holds The power of light only secretly revealed at The end ) fall to bring chaos, and make etro waking up from her slumber to kill her with The crystal, created by etro, which is a catalyst of The plague of stars, an epidemy born of this unbalance, which enlighten The nights, makes humans more agressive and Sensible to their emotions, then turns them into Demons. Ardyn Will turn into into his original form in The final fight ( human size ), The battle is almost like The current final battle. Then He kills offscreen etro who is sleeping with Stella as her Bost ( logo) and fuses with her skull (lucian Crest). Ironically, Ardyn, blind In his rage, forgot that He wanted to die before all, Noctis grants his wish with The last level of his power which his to teleport souls to kingdom of dead. Stella is saved, but she becomes depressive after Noctis death.
Fate of The characters : Noctis dies ( weakened and by his own Will ) Gladio dies ( by clarus ) Prompto dies Ignis lives. Also He is The only one who stay 100% loyal to noctis. Stella lives Ravus dies ( by stella ) Regis dies ( by clarus ) Cor dies ( by ardyn ) Gentiana lives and become shiva though it's implied that astral are meant to disappear at The end of The triology. Ardyn lives in The kingdom of dead Iedolas dies Verstael dies Glauca dies In a boss battle. He was already a Lucian traitor In armor. But He was not drautos. ( kingsglaives existed but not at all like now ) Aranea lives Cid and cidney lives. Weskham existed already and dies In versus xiii Noctis mother was named in The triology as aulea lucis caelum. She is alive in The kingdom of dead. Iris was not as important as now. She was also much younger. Loqi, Nyx, Dino, Drautos didn't exist until 2011. Gameplay : - summons : ifrit ( solheim, traitor summon ), leviathan ( accordo ), bahamut ( niflheim ), fenrir ( tenebrae, He is only The emblem He doesn't appear ingame ), shiva ( another unamed asian-like region ), ramuh ( another unamed region ), carbuncle, titan. - gralea is explorable, it's inspired by manchester. Solheim has arabian like locations. Accordo is linear. Insomnia palace is The final dungeon. - Stella becomes playable after prompto death - The ring didn't exist ( or at least not as a ring ) so ring magic didn't exist. - no outfits and DLC. No manual driving. No regalia type. - no timeskip It's not Explained why tabata had to change The plot.

ok so how is it that species in andromeda use pretty much the same tech as in the milky way?
like, in the triology its explained why life evolves so similarly because of that AI the leviathans set up treating the galaxy as a lab and forcing life to evolve a specific way based on the same millions of years old tech.
i sure hope they are going to explain this.
Edit: how do the angara go from not speaking ur language to suddenly having working translators between ur languages?

Hi! Do you know any book series that are good like the underland chronicles? If not, I guess a re read of TUC is the only thing that'll help me!
Hey there! I know lots of good books! If you’re looking for more kids books like TUC, Percy Jackson and the Olympians is always a good read, regardless of age. If you want something adventurous but a very quick read, The Secret of the Unicorns series by Kathleen Duey was a favorite of mine around the same time that I discovered TUC in 5th grade.
If you’re older and looking for more adult books that still hold the same kind of fantasy qualities as TUC, I would suggest The Raven Cycle series by Maggie Stiefvater, which is my all-time favorite series. The Leviathan triology by Scott Westerfeld is an amazing steampunk sci-fi. Six of Crows is more adult but has some very nice fantasy elements to it.
If you’re looking for even more great books, I have a book recs page on my other blog: http://afraidplushappy.tumblr.com/recs
Have fun reading!!!

Nobody will truly understand the absolute chokehold the Leviathan Triology had on me in 2011. It's the reason I made a book blog. it's the reason I even know what tumblr is. I literally created a book blog and started writing reviews so I could get my hands on an advanced copy of Goliath, the third book. I own it all plus the Manual of Aeronautics. Trajectory of Becks life was forever changed by these books what the heck
#leviathan trilogy#books#beck chats#i literally yelled WHAT when i saw the announcement because i dreamed about how animation was the only way to bring this series to screen#im dead

Since I finally got the physical copies of the Leviathan series, I was able to see the illustrations! So that means Deryn fanart hell yeah
Flipping through the pages, it was hard to find a picture of the midshipman uniform that wasn’t the rigging suit, but it seems to be just...a suit? Fine by me, I love drawing attractive people in suits.
