“They’re all dead.”
The words hit like a blade to the gut. You tightened your grip on your ODM gear, knuckles turning white as the scout delivered the grim report.
Five teams. Five entire teams, wiped out before they even had a chance to fight.
Your squad stood in stunned silence outside the walls, the wind carrying the distant, guttural roars of Titans. The plan had been simple, split into units, clear the Titans blocking the eastern route, and secure a safe path for the retreating supply wagons. But now…
Five teams were gone.
“Shit,” someone whispered.
Your heart pounded as you turned to Levi. He stood at the front, arms crossed, eyes shadowed by his lowered head. His silence was far more terrifying than anything else.
Then, finally, he spoke. “Change of plans.” His voice was steel. “We don’t retreat. We finish what they started.”
Your stomach twisted, but you nodded. There was no running now,not when their deaths would be in vain.
Levi’s sharp gaze flickered over the squad. “Stay close. Don’t do anything reckless. If you die, it better be after killing at least five Titans.”
A weak attempt at dark humor, but no one laughed.
You checked your blades, feeling the familiar weight of steel in your hands. The air was thick, suffocating, but you pushed it down. Fear wouldn’t save you. It never had.
Levi’s voice cut through the tension. “Move out.”
And with that, you launched into the air.
The moment your squad arrived, it was clear why the others had fallen.
Titans. Too many of them.
They lumbered through the ruins of what had once been an abandoned outpost, bodies crushed beneath their massive feet. You spotted at least fifteen, and those were just the ones in sight.
Your breath hitched. No way had the scouts been prepared for this.
“We’re going in,” Levi ordered, already unsheathing his blades. “YN, you take the left flank. Flank and slice, don’t linger.”
You nodded. Focus. Breathe. Kill.
The battle exploded around you.
You hooked onto a nearby rooftop, gas propelling you forward as your blade sank deep into the nape of the first Titan you reached. Blood sprayed, hot and thick, but you barely registered it as you twisted midair, avoiding the grasp of another.
Levi was a blur beside you. Effortless. Precise. Death itself.
A scream tore through the battlefield. One of your squadmates, gone in an instant.
No time to look. No time to grieve.
You cut down another Titan, barely dodging its flailing arm before moving on to the next. Your heart pounded, lungs burning as the fight stretched on.
And then
Something was wrong.
Levi’s voice snapped through your earpiece. “Regroup! NOW!”
You turned, eyes scanning for him, only to freeze.
From the treeline, a second wave of Titans emerged.
Your blood turned to ice.
You were outnumbered.
The second wave of Titans hit harder than you expected.
You barely had time to breathe before the first one lunged, massive, fast, and hungry. Your instincts kicked in, and you fired your hook into the nearest rooftop, propelling yourself into the sky just as its hand crashed down where you had stood.
“YN!” Levi’s voice cut through the chaos. You turned just in time to see him slicing through a Titan’s nape in a perfect arc, blood spraying across his uniform. His movements were precise, deadly, there was no hesitation in him.
You wished you could say the same for yourself.
You tightened your grip on your blades and dived down, slicing through another Titan just before it could grab one of your remaining squadmates. The battlefield was nothing but blood, screams, and chaos.
And then you heard it.
A scream,too close.
You whipped around just in time to see one of your comrades Lena, caught in a Titan’s grip. Her eyes locked onto yours for a split second before
CRACK.
The Titan bit down.
Your stomach lurched, bile rising in your throat as her body went limp. Gone. Just like that.
There was no time to grieve.
You forced yourself forward, moving on autopilot, dodging, slicing, killing but it was clear now.
This wasn’t a battle anymore. It was a massacre.
"Fall back!" Levi's voice rang out through the earpiece. "Regroup near the treeline!"
But you were too far. Separated.
Your gas was running low, and your muscles burned with exhaustion. You cut down another Titan, barely avoiding its grasp, when
Your wire snapped.
A Titan’s stray swipe hit your gear, sending you spiraling. Your body slammed into the roof of a broken-down building, pain exploding in your ribs. You couldn’t move.
Shit.
The ground trembled as a Titan lumbered toward you. Its mouth hung open, ready to devour, and for the first time, real fear sank into your bones.
You had no gas. No mobility. You were trapped.
Then, in a blur of black and silver
Levi.
He came down like death itself, his blades slicing through the Titan’s weak point in one clean motion. The body crashed beside you, shaking the earth, but he was already moving, ggfgrabbing you by the straps of your uniform and yanking you up.
"Can you move?" His voice was sharp, but underneath ityconcern.
You gasped, trying to steady your breath. "Yeah... just winded."
He didn't look convinced, but there was no time to argue.
More Titans were closing in.
Levi’s grip on your arm tightened.
"Stay close."
then you were moving. (Back to life)
You and Levi fought back to back, moving like two parts of the same blade.
He was ruthless, fast, untouchable. Every slice of his swords ended a life. Every move was calculated, precise.
You did your best to keep up, lungs burning as you pushed through the pain in your ribs. You weren’t as fast as himyno one wasbut you knew how to fight.
You trusted him.
And hetrusted you.
But the Titans weren’t stopping.
The second wave had turned into a flood, and your squad was gone.
It was just you and Levi now.
"We're getting surrounded," you breathed, dodging a Titan's swinging arm. "What now?"
Levi didn’t answer immediately. His sharp eyes scanned the battlefield, calculating every possible escape route, every possible failure.
Then, he made his decision.
"We cut through."
You barely had time to react before he grabbed your hand and launched forward.
You lost count of how many Titans you killed. Five? Ten? Twenty?
Your arms were numb. Your body was on fire. Your ODM gas was almost gone. (Second gear brought by levi)
And then
Your blades snapped.
The Titan in front of you lunged, and you had nothing left to fight with.
You braced for impact, but Levi was faster.
He tackled you out of the way, the two of you crashing onto a nearby rooftop. His body shielded yours from the impact.
"Dammit, YN!" His voice was harsh, but when you looked up at him,his eyes told a different story.
He wasn’t angry. He was scared.
Levi Ackerman, humanity’s strongest soldier, was scared.
For you.
You tried to push yourself up, but pain shot through your leg. You looked down,a deep gash, bleeding badly.
Shit.
You weren’t getting out of this. Not alive.
Levi knew it too. His jaw clenched, his breath ragged. You could see it in the way his hands trembled, just barely.
For the first time, you saw the man behind the soldier.
And it broke you.
"Levi..." Your voice was hoarse. "Go. Leave me."
His expression darkened. "The hell I will."
More Titans were closing in. You were both running out of time.
You grabbed his wrist, nails digging into the fabric of his uniform. "Please. If one of us has to make it out of here, it should be you."
His eyes burned into yourszanger, frustration, something deeper, something he couldn’t say.
And then, chis grip on you tightened.
"Stay alive."
His voice was lower now. Almost desperate. Raw.
"That's an order."
Your breath caught.
It wasn’t just a command. It was a plea.
Even as the world burned around you, even as death loomed closer, he was still fighting for you.
And if Levi Ackerman was willing to fight for you
You couldn’t give up.
Not yet.
Not today.
The world was nothing but blood and chaos.
Titans surrounded you, their massive shadows looming over the crumbling buildings. You could hear their heavy, labored breaths, smell the stench of rotting flesh.
Your leg was useless, your gas was running low, and your blades were broken. You were a soldier with no weapons left to fight.
But Levi was still standing.
And he wasn’t backing down.
He was a force of nature.
With a flick of his wrist, he launched forward, a blur of black and silver. His swords tore through Titan flesh with effortless precision, movements too fast for your eyes to follow.
He cut down one. Then another. Then another.
But there were too many.
A Titan lunged from the side, and for the first time Levi didn’t see it coming.
“Levi—!”
You didn’t think. You just moved.
Your body slammed into his, knocking him out of the way just as the Titan’s hand came crashing down. You hit the ground hard, pain exploding in your already battered body.
But Levi,Levi was safe.
He was on his feet instantly, blades ready, but when he turned to you his face twisted in something close to fury.
“Are you out of your goddamn mind?!” His voice was sharp, but his eyes his eyes were terrified.
He crouched beside you, checking for injuries with frantic hands. His fingers ghosted over your bleeding leg, your trembling arms. His jaw clenched when he realized how bad it was.
You laughed weakly, though there was no humor in it. “Had to save your ass at least once.”
“Shut up,” he snapped. But his voice was hoarse.
A Titan's roar echoed behind him, and his entire demeanor shifted.
The fear disappeared. The hesitation was gone.
What replaced it was cold, unrelenting fury.
He stood up, rolling his shoulders. His grip tightened around his swords, his stance lowering. Every movement screamed death.
And when he spoke his voice was lethal.
“I’ll kill them all.”
Levi Ackerman, Humanity’s Strongest Soldier
You had seen Levi fight before.
But never like this.
This was war.
He moved like a shadow, faster than your eyes could track. Every movement was precise, calculated deadly.
A Titan lunged at him he was already gone. He reappeared at its nape, his blades tearing through flesh before it even realized what had happened. Blood rained down, but he was already moving on.
Another Titan swiped at him he ducked, twisting midair, his blades slicing through its wrist before plunging straight into its weak point.
One by one, they fell.
But Levi wasn’t just fighting.
He was protecting you.
Every time a Titan got too close to your fallen form, he was there slaughtering, shielding, refusing to let them reach you.
And in that moment, you realized something.
He wasn’t fighting for humanity.
He wasn’t fighting for victory.
He was fighting for you.
Levi landed beside you, chest rising and falling with heavy breaths. Blood so much blood stained his uniform, his skin, his hair.
But he wasn’t done.
He grabbed your arm, pulling you up despite your protests.
“We’re leaving.” His voice was strained, but it left no room for argument.
You tried to move, but pain shot through your leg. Your body swayed, and his grip immediately tightened.
You saw it then the brief flicker of panic in his eyes.
Levi Ackerman didn’t panic.
Levi Ackerman didn’t hesitate.
Levi Ackerman didn’t show fear.
But right now he was afraid.
For you.
You opened your mouth to say something, but then
A Titan’s shadow loomed over you.
Everything happened in a split second.
Levi turned.
The Titan lunged.
And it went for you.
Levi’s entire body reacted before his mind could.
He threw himself in front of you, blades up, but not fast enough.
The Titan’s hand swiped at him full force.
Levi went flying.
Your scream tore through the battlefield.
The Titan reached for you next.
You barely had time to process before your hands found the hilt of a fallen soldier’s blade.
You had no gas. No ODM. No strength left.
But you had this.
And if Levi was still breathing, you weren’t going to die here.
The Titan’s fingers closed around you, lifting you off the ground but your blade was already sinking into its hand.
It roared in pain, releasing you just enough for you to drive the sword straight into its eye.
It staggered. You twisted the blade deeper.
Then
A flash of silver. Again
Levi.
He was back.
Despite the blood dripping down his face, despite the pain slowing his movements he came back for you.
And with one clean strike, the Titan was dead.
The battlefield was silent.
The only sound was your ragged breathing. Levi’s labored exhales.
You collapsed to your knees, gasping, too exhausted to move.
Levi caught you before you hit the ground.
His arms wrapped around you, firm, steady, warm. His forehead rested against yours, breath shaky.
"I told you," he whispered. His voice wasn’t sharp this time. It was raw. “Stay alive.”
Your vision blurred, exhaustion finally winning.
But before the darkness took you, you felt it.
Levi’s hand, gripping yours. Desperate. Steady. Unshaken.
And then,nothing.
Pain.
That was the first thing you felt when you woke up.
It crept through your body like fire, every muscle aching, every breath sharp. The scent of antiseptic filled your nose, mixed with something warm.
You tried to move. A mistake.
A sharp gasp left your lips, your body flinching at the pain in your ribs.
Instantly,a shadow moved beside you.
"You're awake."
Levi’s voice.
But not the one you were used to.
It wasn’t sharp. It wasn’t irritated. It wasn’t barking out orders or insults.
It was quiet. Low. Tense.
Your vision cleared, and there he was.
Sitting beside your bed, arms crossed, dark circles under his eyes. His uniform was still stained with dried blood, yours and his. His hair was messier than usual, like he had run his hands through it a hundred times.
His gaze was locked onto you, intense and unreadable.
But you knew Levi.
And this was the look of a man who had just been through hell.
For a moment, neither of you spoke.
Then,Levi stood up abruptly, knocking his chair back.
“Do you have any idea how fucking stupid that was?”
The anger in his voice caught you off guard. Your throat was dry, but you still managed a weak, “Good to see you too.”
Levi didn’t laugh. He didn’t even roll his eyes.
He just stared at you.
Then he turned away, hands gripping the edge of the table so hard his knuckles turned white.
“You almost died,” he said, voice low. “Do you understand that?”
The air in the room shifted.
You swallowed, trying to ignore the sharp pain in your ribs. “Yeah. I know.”
“No. You don’t.” Levi’s jaw clenched. He took a slow, measured breath like he was trying to stop himself from breaking something.
Or maybe… from breaking himself.
You had seen Levi angry before.
You had seen him furious, ruthless, cold.
But this?
This wasn’t anger.
This was something else.
“Levi…” Your voice was softer now. “I-”
“Don’t.”
His hands trembled for just a second before he clenched them into fists. He still wasn’t looking at you.
“Do you think this is a game?” he asked. “Throwing yourself in front of me like that?”
“I wasn’t-”
“You did.” He finally turned, and his eyes
His eyes were burning.
“I could’ve handled it. I always handle it. But you-” His breath hitched, just barely. “You shoved me out of the way. And then you were on the ground. Bleeding. Barely breathing.”
You swallowed hard.
Levi took a step closer.
“You almost died,” he repeated. His voice cracked this time. “And I-”
He stopped himself.
His hands were shaking.
Levi Ackerman’s hands were shaking.
And suddenly, you understood.
This wasn’t just about you almost dying.
This was about him almost losing you.
You forced yourself to sit up hissing in pain but Levi was there immediately, pressing you back down.
“Stop moving, idiot.”
But his hands on your shoulders were too tight. Like he was scared that if he let go, you’d disappear.
You looked up at him, really looked at him.
This wasn’t Levi, Humanity’s Strongest.
This was Levi, the man who had lost too many people.
And almost lost you, too.
Your voice was quiet. “I didn’t mean to scare you.”
Levi’s breath hitched again. His hands didn’t move from your shoulders.
“You did,” he admitted.
That was it.
That was the moment everything changed.
Because Levi didn’t admit things like this.
He didn’t talk about fear, about loss. He didn’t let people see the cracks beneath the surface.
But he was letting you see them now.
Your throat tightened. “Levi, I-”
His fingers curled into the fabric of your blanket.
“just please,” he murmured, voice barely above a whisper.
And for the first time, you understood what he really meant.
It wasn’t just about the mission.
It wasn’t just about orders.
It was about you.
Levi wasn’t asking you to live for the sake of humanity.
He was asking you to live for him.
Neither of you spoke for a while.
The only sound was your breathing, the distant murmurs of soldiers outside.
Finally,Levi sat back down beside you, exhaling slowly.
“…I stayed here all night,” he muttered. “Hange tried to drag me out. Didn’t work.”
Your lips twitched. “That’s probably the first time Hange ever failed at something.”
Levi gave a soft snort, but it didn’t quite reach his eyes.
“I meant what I said,” he added after a pause. “Stay alive.”
You met his gaze.
“I’ll try.”
His jaw clenched. Not enough.
“You will.”
And then,Levi did something that made your heart stop.
He reached for your hand.
Not roughly. Not like an order.
Softly. Carefully.
Like he wasn’t sure if he had the right to.
His fingers brushed over yours before finally settling warm, steady, firm.
And you squeezed back.

Why should I care - Levi Ackerman x Reader
Pairing: Levi Ackerman x fem!Reader Genre: fluff Word Count: 1 458 Warnings: none Summary: Levi acompaies you to the market even though he has no interest in it. Prompts: market
Tumblr media
A part of Levi wondered why he was even at this market. Of course, he knew why, but he felt so out of place and at the same time so infinitely at peace. Which, in itself, was another feeling he wasn’t used to.
The basket he was holding was heavy with fresh vegetables you had already bought, his back leaning against the edge of a fountain. There was no real reason for you to buy your own food, since you got three meals at the food hall every day, but the food there was cheap, and fresh vegetables and fruit were expensive, so they were hardly served.
Levi had known you liked going to the market for a long time, but it was the first time you had invited him along. When you had knocked against his door that morning, dressed in a simple brown dress with a sweater on top, as orange as the leaves on the trees, asking if he wanted to join you, he hadn’t even spared the market a second thought, only jumping at the idea of getting to spending time with you.
Even though he had asked if you wanted to date him over a month ago, he still felt lost. In his head he had never thought further than your rejection, so when you had agreed to go out with him, he had been helpless. So far, he had only taken you on one proper date, star gazing on top of the roof of the headquarters, but you never had complained. Both your schedules were busy, so most of the ‘dating’ you did, consisted of doing the paperwork together which you before had done in separate rooms.
Levi stopped.
Was this a date, he wondered. Going to the market together?
Now that he thought about it, it did look like you had dressed up a little. So had he though, after learning he was to accompany you. Instead of the usual uniform, he wore some comfortable and elegant clothes, that made him almost feel overdressed for the market. But the spark in your eyes as you had seen him and adjusted his previously perfectly straight tie made up for it.
Now his eyes were following you, as you walked from a stand with vegetables to one with fruit. The golden sunlight of the autumn day lit the scene in warm light, and as Levi watched the long skirt play around your legs, he couldn’t help but think that he wouldn’t mind autumn as much as he did if every day were as beautiful as today. Although, if he was honest, the day’s beauty was only measured in how many moments it gave him to admire you. He still felt uncomfortable and strange with the aching in his chest, that had him gravitate towards you constantly. It didn’t fit anything he knew about his own body and heart, and he still struggled with showing his affection. In the month of dating, the times he had held you could be counted on one hand.
You were still studying the fruits on display, when Levi’s eyes got caught on something else. Quickly checking if you were still occupied, he grabbed the handle of the basket tightly in his hand and pushed away from the fountain, walking straight towards a stand that sold small bouquets of flowers. He had already spied the one he liked best, so he simply pointed at the flowers and had the owner wrap their stems up in paper, before he paid the man, making it back to his spot at the fountain just in time before you called him.
“Levi, come here!” You waved him over, a smile on your lips that made his heart stutter. Holding the basket with the flowers at an angle that hid the contents from your sight, he walked over. “Which ones do you want to try?”
His eyes followed your hand, as you pointed at a variety of different grapes. Each kind had a small sign stuck against the respective baskets they were kept in, stating the name and the degree of sweetness or sourness.
“I was thinking I want to try these ones,” you kept thinking out loud, Levi’s eyes wandering from the grapes to your thoughtful expression. Why should he care about some grapes when you were right in front of him? “But you haven’t bought anything for yourself yet, so why don’t you choose the kind you like best?”
Levi knew next to nothing about grapes. Yes, he liked them, the sweeter and juicier the better, but other than that? You could dry them and use them as ingredients for cooking or baking and certain kinds were turned into wine, but that was where his knowledge stopped.
Not wanting to disappoint you by seeming not to care, he averted his gaze from you again and read the signs describing the grapes instead. The ones you had pointed out were supposed to taste both sweet and sour, but his eyes got hung up on some dark purple, almost black seeming fruits that got described to have a fruity-sweet flavour.
“We’ll take half a pound of these,” he told the shop owner while pointing to the ones you had expressed your interest in, and then to the ones that sounded good to him “and half a pound of these.”
While the man weighted the grapes and wrapped them in paper, you turned to Levi.
“You’ve a secret sweet tooth, hm,” you asked with a smile on your lips as you wrapped your arms around his waist and pulled yourself closer to him. The gesture made his heart beat hard, and instinctively he placed his free hand on your hip. “How are you enjoying the market so far?”
Levi just hummed in response before realising you were expecting a proper answer. “It’s a market.”
“What do you mean, it’s a market,” you teased with a laugh. “You seemed so excited to go earlier!”
Levi averted his eyes and luckily was saved by the shop owner, who presented the packed fruit to Levi, who quickly paid.
But you seemed not to have forgotten the conversation yet, because as you strode on to the next stand, you intertwined your fingers with his. “I thought you’d enjoy going to the market at least a little bit.”
Levi sighed. That was one of his problems, he was bad at communicating, it always took him a lot of effort to phrase his thoughts, and when it came to you, those were usually thoughts he wasn’t used to thinking.
“I wasn’t looking forward to the market itself,” he admitted, feeling your confused expression on the side of his face. He knew you’d tell him he didn’t have to come if he wasn’t interested, so he quickly continued explaining. “I was looking forward to spending time with you, getting to watch you do something you enjoy.”
For a moment you were quiet at his side, and when he glanced at you from the corner of his eyes, he found you were smiling. “That’s cute, Levi!”
“Shut up,” he grumbled, not meaning it.
“I won’t,” you declared, but kept walking quietly next to him, gently swinging your intertwined hands between your bodies. “Oh look, over there!” Levi’s eyes once again followed where you were pointing to. “They sell hot fruit juice with spices! I’ve wanted to try that for ages. Want to get a cup? We can get to different flavours and share!”
Levi knew his lips were tucking into a smile at your enthusiasm, and he nodded. You didn’t waste a moment to lead him over to the stand and read out the menu to him as if he couldn’t read himself. He let you, content with focusing on your smiling and excited face rather than the boring description of drinks on a blackboard. This afternoon, upon returning to the headquarters, he’d give you the flowers he had gotten you, he decided.
A selfish part of his head told him that if you kept the flowers which he had given you in your room, there’s be a part of him always close to you. He should give you a necklace or another piece of jewellery, so you could really always keep something close which he had given you. What metal would you like better, gold or silver?
He was still half listening to you contemplating which drink to get, when he leant over and pressed his lips to yours in a short kiss. It wasn’t the first kiss you shared, but Levi still couldn’t help but marvel at how sweet your lips tasted. Why would he care about some warm, sweet drink, when the warmest and sweetest thing he could ever taste were your lips?

𝓢𝓾𝓶𝓶𝓪𝓻𝔂 ~ Though first promising amongst themselves to simmer down their bristling banter in the presence of the young woman, it quickly becomes apparent such a feat might just be beyond them. Between Nile’s insistence to continually undermine the Scouts, Levi’s eavesdropping, and Erwin’s ever wavering patience; not much progress is made.
That is, until Y/N intervenes.
The issue of the Scout’s missing parchment orders is resolved; or at least, nearly so. While the project itself is complete, delivery might no longer be an option. As such, Commander Erwin turns to Levi in this predicament; surely his newest Captain can handle this matter on his own?

Ch.1 ~
The shop was alight in the glow of many candles, dimmed now by the sun’s shine pouring in from the uncurtained windows along the shop’s walls.
Still, the candles sitting in the window sills filled the room with a lovely scent of crisp apples of autumn’s harvest and stale cinnamon, greeting every customer to step within. Despite the season of autumn having since come to an end, the rich aroma suited the quaint shop.
Near the door sat a carved wooden bench, a wool blanket over its backing and a set of throw pillows laid on its seat. A beautifully patterned rug led up to the front desk, which was surrounded by potted plants of varying species—it really added a splash of color to contrast the beige walls.
A shelf filled with thick leather bound books and worn-down files stood neatly in the corner behind the front desk, nearly reaching the ceiling in height.
Lastly, a tiny bell above the front entrance was a nice touch, as well; as it alerted the building to the arrival of customers with its muted dinging.
Overall, every little addition to the space made it feel pleasantly warm. Lived in, almost.
A rustic sort of comfortability.
Behind the quaint desk stood a rather burly looking man, with broad shoulders and a full beard that nearly reached his chest. He held a folder with one large hand—one that he quickly set down onto the countertop upon seeing both Commander Erwin and Commander Nile waltzing through the front door.
With a small smile poking through tangles of hair and a kind twinkle to his eye, the—seemingly—middle aged man gave a polite nod to the trio. Though, for a moment that was too quick to truly tell, it seemed his eyes strayed to Levi longer than the two Commanders.
“Such a pleasure to see you stop by, Commander Dok. Commander Smith.” he greeted kindly, his tone even and soft despite his more rugged appearance.
“And Captain Levi, I’m pleased to finally make your acquaintance!”
Levi turned his gaze to the receptionist with a raised brow, but didn’t get the chance to speak even a word before Nile had started to chuckle.
Stepping forward, Nile leaned his arms onto the desktop with an easy going smile.
“It’s been too long, Henry. Say, Y/N hasn’t gone to lunch yet, has she? I’d stay and chat for a moment, but…”
Nile paused then and jutted a thumb over his shoulder, gesturing to where Erwin and Levi still stood at a respectable distance, just off to the side of the desk.
“My company and I are here on business, and need to speak with her about some purchases.”
“Ahh, Y/N. I see,” Henry grunted in understanding, turning to jut his chin in the direction of a wooden door set against the furthest wall.
“She’s in the back at the workshop; at the press, as usual. You haven’t missed her just yet.”
“Thank you, Henry,” Nile nodded, moving around the desk with an easy going wave, foregoing the need to ask permission on his way towards the door a few paces away.
“We won’t keep her too long.”
Nodding respectfully—maybe to compensate for his friend’s absent manners—Erwin gave his silent thanks to the man, Henry, behind the desk and made to follow after Nile.
Levi begrudgingly stayed on his heels, arms folded more loosely now than before over his chest. His observant gaze swiveled all across the shop’s furnishings, silently judging the space and the employee himself, but managed to keep his thoughts to himself. At least, for the time being.
As kind as the man had been, especially in addressing him personally—odd as it might have been—Levi still maintained his usual disinterested facade.
He’d settle for appreciation in silence for now.
“It might be best if I go in first. You know; check on her, ask her for some time to go over the order.”
Nile drawled on after a pause, turning his back to the closed employee door and thus preventing Erwin and Levi from taking another step towards it.
Huffing indignantly, Erwin crossed both arms over his broad chest, unknowingly mirroring Levi’s stance just a pace behind him.
“Nile, that’s the reason we’re here in the first place. You can have your moment with Y/N, but we aren’t here to stand idly by in the lobby while you handle our affairs for us.”
Behind him, Levi scoffed quietly in agreement, his eyes no longer wandering about the shop. Now he stared straight ahead, craning his neck a tad to meet the taller man’s eye.
Nile at least had the sense to look a little unsure under such scrutiny from the pair, and hesitated.
“Fine, fine…I’ll come back and open the door after a moment so you can spiel your script yourself.” Nile eventually grumbled, his hand reaching up to grasp the door’s handle. Notably, his eyes shifted between the Scouts, as though looking for approval to his succumbent. Gaining no further argument, Nile’s hand twisted the knob.
The door swung open under his rough palm with a creak, giving way to a short hall. Beyond the narrow walls, not much of the room was visible; but every small sound from within the workshop echoed outwards towards them.
The moment the door stood ajar, the low hums and rhythmic clicking of a press met their ears. Though out of sight, the muffled ruffling of paper eluded to the idea of the woman being kept busy at her job, running many reams through the machine.
From what little they could see, the short hall led to a wide table set in the middle of the room, piled up both with stacks of varying parchment and several heaps of boxes.
As disarrayed as the tabletop looked, the long table couldn’t compete with the mess on the shelves.
Ceiling high, broad shelves lined one wall, nearly the length of the room in size, were packed tight with boxes of parchment of different papers and odd materials—except there was no rhyme or reason to their placement, unlike the neat tabletop before it.
Despite the mess, the musty scent of paper and inks and glues made the space feel more like a library than a workshop.
Somehow, through it all, the dainty elegance of the reception room behind them carried through the door and into the workshop.
A hint of a smile marked Nile’s face as he took in a deep breath and stepped through the door into the room.
Without so much as glancing back at the Scouts, he slid the creaking door shut behind him with a click—though both Erwin and Levi were able to clearly hear him call out to the woman somewhere beyond the stacks of crates.
It was quiet for a moment, save for the muffled whirring of the press from behind the closed door. Eventually, they picked up on a sound—a hushed conversation, muffled and unintelligible.
A rough laugh from Nile that faded with heavy footsteps meandering farther from the door, a young woman’s voice ringing out above the many sounds of the shop…Soon there was no sound left for them to hear through thick oak.
All the while, the Scouts stood outside the door, impatiently awaiting their time to step through.
Levi stepped closer to the door after some time, surprising Erwin into arching a brow down at the man. But Levi paid the look no mind, choosing to concentrate on catching any small sound from beyond the wood. He furrowed his brow as he attempted to make their words out.
“She sounds young,” Levi commented dryly, listening closely.
“Little ditzy…I can imagine she easily forgot the parchment order, making us come all the way here for it.”
“She’s a busy woman, Levi. I’m sure there’s a reason the supplies are late,” Erwin came to Y/N’s defense in an instant, glancing from Levi’s face and then back towards the oak door with a sigh.
“I can’t hear a thing; how is it you hear them?” Erwin continued on after a moment.
Grunting in acknowledgment, without answering his Commander’s last question, Levi went back to listening through the door.
Leaning in closer and bending a little at the waist, he strained to hear what might be discussed between Nile and this Y/N character that, apparently, his Commander was adamant on excusing. For whatever reason.
“I never took you for one to eavesdrop so casually,” Erwin commented lowly, after a tense moment in which he received no response. He took to leaning against the nearby wall when he still got no response from his subordinate. Undeterred, he carried on.
“It’s rude, you know.”
“Well, I wasn’t aware you shit talked your comrades. You’d be surprised by the bullshit I’ve heard you spout behind closed doors. It’s a tactical advantage for me, and a terrible woe for you, should I ever utilize what I’ve learned to my favor.”
Levi recounted rather quickly this time, without so much as sparing him a glance. Instead, he stayed preoccupied with staring intently at the door now only a couple of inches from his nose.
“Miche would hate to know what you’ve spouted off regarding his ‘absurdly keen nose’.”
“…You know, you’re such a pissy man, Levi. Oh my god.”
The door’s handle twisted to the side and creaked back open not even a second after Erwin sighed, revealing Nile as he attempted to wipe away a grin still etched onto his face.
“Alright you lousy Scouts, you-“
He paused suddenly, having stepped through the door’s threshold rather quickly and, nearly, ran his chest straight into Levi’s face.
Looking down, expressionlessly, towards the shorter man, Nile took a hesitant step backwards.
“What are you-“
“What.” Levi interjected, already having snapped back up to attention to cut him off with a glare.
He kept his sharp gaze averted from the MP Commander.
“…What are you doing.” Nile demanded in a rather monotone voice.
“Tch, waiting for an old man to hurry up and open the damn door.” Levi spat back, though quietly this time.
Nile sighed, nearly what looked to be in disappointment. Where that disappointment was aimed, remained unstated. For now, at least.
“You know what…You both can come in. I’ve briefed her. I’m not dealing with this right now.”
Pinching at his brow in exasperation, Erwin sighed for the uptenth time and gave a stiff nod.
“Right, cause we’re incompetent. I forgot. Thank you, Nile.”
“‘Course. Just doing my job,” Nile grunted, standing back to hold open the door for the pair.
“Come on, in you get; she doesn’t have all day. She needs to get to lunch soon.”
Tumblr media
Down the short hall they finally walked, eyeing the many crookedly stacked boxes and crates littering the floor along the way. Only once they were fully inside the room did they realize the expanse of it.
Not only was there a tall wooden table stood at the center of the room, cluttered with boxes, and a wide shelf stretching the length of one wall, laden with various reams of parchments—there was also an assortment of odd little stations scattered around the spacious workshop.
There was an easel of sorts, with many jars crudely labeled things like ‘glue’ or ‘paint’ sat on its shelf. Some feet away sat a small, rounded table stacked with plates and other miniature utensils—most of which they couldn’t name or identify.
At a closer look, the boxes on the shelves each had their own label, ranging from color, to texture, and to the type of paper itself. It was organized, if not a touch cramped.
Clean floors and tabletops greeted their eyes, yet unmistakable lines of unfinished products were set in a row upon a secondary, smaller table. Scraps of paper and splinters of wood had been responsibly thrown away; but, the bin the scraps now occupied was now heavily overflowing with the wasted materials.
In some way, it was an organized mess, of sorts. Throughout the entire, albeit large, room.
Above the whir of the press still in action, came the quiet humming of a woman’s voice.
Some sort of song, perhaps, she hummed the tune of. Though it was broken and muffled by the occasional scoff, or muttered curse word over the clunking and hissing of the printing machine.
Though she stood out of sight, her voice echoed off the higher ceilings and was easily heard.
Coming to stand alongside the full table, Nile cleared his throat loudly, catching the wandering attentions of both Erwin and Levi.
“Y/N, my dear, if you could step away from the press for a moment? I’ve brought them in.”
“Hell, I figured you meant you were out on your way to fetch them!”
Responded a soft voice, several octaves higher than the low humming that resonated within the large room.
Abruptly the machine whirred to a stop, clunking in protest to the sudden shut down.
Now without the obnoxious noise from the press, they heard quick footsteps clicking and clacking against the wooden floors, heading their way.
From around a corner the woman suddenly appeared, her hair ratty and frayed from the bun she must have placed it into sometime earlier that morning, with a couple smudges of grease smeared across her round cheeks.
Smiling crookedly their way once she caught their eye in turn, she strode towards the large table at the center of the room and removed a pair of leather gloves from her hands, tucking the fabric under an arm.
“Good morning, Commander Smith,” Y/N chirped as she reached Nile’s side, propping her elbows up onto the table and setting her gloves aside.
“It’s about time you stopped by; welcome to Quick crafts!”
“Quick Crafts,” Erein echoed with a chuckle, taking an appreciative look around once more.
“You’ve chosen quite the name, Y/N.”
Dismissively waving his comment away, Y/N averted her attention over to Levi, curiously looking him over as he came to stand off to the side of the table.
“And Cadet Levi, right? I believe Nile said…Anyways, my pleasure!”
Narrowed eyes shot to Nile from across the work table, the latter avoiding the darker haired man’s glare.
“Ah, perhaps I misspoke earlier, dear Y/N-“ Nile started to correct, only to be abruptly cut off.
“I know better than to believe that was any accident,” Levi hissed, arms folded tightly over his chest.
“You ass. It’s Captain. Captain Levi.”
Glancing between the pair, Y/N watched on curiously for a moment before snorting out a chuckle—one that she quickly covered with a hand over her mouth.
This pulled Levi’s attention away from Nile, and he stared at the way her eyes crinkled around the corners from the grin she hid.
“I apologize on behalf of Commander Dok; the bastard’s a bit dense. I’ve long since been on the receiving end of his mocking banter, so I understand your frustration. Anyways; Captain Levi, huh? It’s a pleasure to meet you, too. Word travels fast—I’d already caught wind of a new Captain in the Scouts from the customers who come through here.”
Y/N rattled off, removing her hand from her face once she’d quelled her own amusement.
Giving her a blank stare, Levi attempted to take in all that she’d said. After a moment, he seemed to collect his wits and opened his mouth.
“Y/N, huh? You’re a chatterbox.”
“If you wanna call it that, go ahead. Some call it ‘manners’. You know, making conversation and pleasantries and all that bullshit,”
Y/N smiled his way, waving off his rather dull comment. It seemed to not phase her much.
“Though, maybe that’s not something you and Nile quite get. You’re both a bit…Blunt, it seems.”
Levi’s scowl slowly disappeared as she spoke, his eyes going a tad wide and his brows raised up.
A civilian not only apologizing on behalf of a Regime Commander, no less cursing his reputation, but also testing his own resolve?
This was new for Levi. It was…refreshing, oddly enough. He couldn’t remember the last time someone outside the military had met his level of sarcasm with some of their own, even if her’s was more refined in nature than his.
Slowly his arms lowered from his chest, coming to hang loosely at his sides as he stared straight ahead at the rather outspoken woman, something in his demeanor changing just briefly.
“So you are a woman of class, aren’t you…”
He quietly mumbled, mostly to himself.
His comment didn’t quite reach Y/N’s ears, and as such she started to lean forward and ask him to repeat himself; but before she could Nile had already stood up straighter over on his side of the table.
Levi’s muttered words hadn’t slipped past Nile, making the man pause with subtle suspicion. When he turned to see the look on the newest Captain’s face—his expression morphing from aggravation to something akin to interest, whilst staring at the woman—Nile frowned.
Coming around the table to step slightly in front of Y/N, Nile suddenly cleared his throat.
“All pleasantries aside, last I recalled we were here on business. Smith; the report you wanted from her?”
“Right…Ms. Y/N, we came today to inquire about the crates of parchment we had ordered,” Erwin offered with a kind smile, seemingly nonchalant about the whole ordeal.
“I was merely wondering what had happened after payment had been received?”
Y/N paused for a moment, a hand coming up to scratch at the back of her head; this only resulted in the ruffling of her hair—further so than it had already been during her shift thus far.
Seeming to remember, she removed her hand with raised brows.
“Ahh, that parchment; bond ivory at eight and a half by eleven? Six tall crates worth?”
She mused to herself, nodding along and heading over to the shelf lining the wall. She had to look up to spot the boxes in question, the shelf standing several feet taller than her eye level.
Reaching up, she slapped the side of a box barely within her reach, pointing to the labels lining the fronts, one through six.
“I’ve got them right here, ready for delivery!”
“…Then why weren’t they? Delivered, I mean,” Erwin hummed, taking a step forward to survey the boxes for himself.
“Oh, well…” Y/N began, only to be cut off by Nile.
“Jesus Erwin, she’s busy. She has nearly twenty orders a day to complete, don’t you?”
Here Nike turned to Y/N for confirmation to his claim—to which she merely shrugged at, her gaze cast aside.
“More or less, depending on the day,” she mumbled almost uncertainty.
“I hadn’t meant to reprimand, Nile,” Erwin grumbled, shooting an apologetic glance Y/N’s way. Y/N easily dismissed the look with a wave of her hand, unbothered by his previous question
“No, he’s right. I’d meant to have it delivered to the Scouts by now,” Y/N sighed.
“I got so caught up in finalizing the details on this other order we got…I apologize, it’s my fault you didn’t get your order in the time it was promised to you.”
“I understand, Y/N. Running a business takes discipline. But may I ask; just what was it you were working on?”
Erwin decided to ask, glancing down at a lone folder set out on the table near where he stood. A worn yellow paper was jutting out from the top, exposing half of the work order’s content. Poking out of the top half were the words ‘banners’ and ‘embroidery’, printed in bold black ink.
“Funny enough…his majesty in Wall Sina requested banners be fabricated for his banquet hall. I’d just finished with the design last week, when he sent word of changing the embroidery design. Naturally that set me back on time—I focused on that project to make up for lost time on the deadline he set,” she scoffed, giving the folder on the table a frown, like it was the source of all her problems.
“For the king?” Erwin exclaimed, bushy brows raised high as he straightened up.
“Not only is that an honor, but I imagine quite a task to fulfill.”
“It wouldn’t be such a task, if the damned fool could make up his mind,” Y/N scoffed, but upon seeing the look of surprise on all three men’s faces, she cleared her throat and added on in a rush. “Praise the walls.”
“Ah, well,” Erwin cleared his throat, disrupting the momentary silence that followed Y/N explanation.
“I’d wondered when we could expect to have the boxes delivered to the Scouts HQ?”
Looking up from the folder, Y/N suddenly grinned, her look of disdain wiped away in an instant.
“To the Scout’s big ass castle? Or, whatever other fancy name you thought up for the building.”
“It’s just HeadQuarters, Y/N.” Erwin smiled, though it dropped the instant she snickered in disbelief.
“The address is the same.”
“I hardly believe there’s not have another name for it, knowing you. Either way, I’ll see to it that it’s delivered within the week.” Y/N mused as she stepped away from the shelf and once more rested her elbows onto the table top, back beside Nile.
Nile started to chuckle at Erwin’s expense, finding amusement in the man’s expression from her description. Though he didnt get to the point of verbal harassment, before Y/N was rounding on him. Stepping closer to reach him, Y/N raised a finger and pointed it under his crooked nose, as though to scold him.
The raised brow she aimed his way made his his smile briefly falter.
“You don’t get to jest. Didn’t you start referring to the Military Police’s base as ‘The Superior Regimen’s Base of Actual Accomplishment’ just last year? I hope you know I never label the products you order under that silly ass name.”
Looking highly offended all of the sudden, Erwin’s hand flew to his hips as he, too, immediately rounded on Nile as well. Though the effect held less weight than Y/N’s look, standing much further away across the table then she was to him.
“What the hell, Nile? ‘Base of Actual Accomplishment’? Just what do you mean by that?”
“Oh come now, Erwin. It’s a joke amongst the MP’s; I’m sure every regiment mocks the others.”
Nile rolled his eyes with a scoff; hardly paying his look any actual mind.
Erwin paused for a moment, looking contemplative as he mulled over Nile’s claim. The room went quiet for a moment, before he heavily sighed.
“Acceptable counter-argument,” he finally admitted while averting his gaze. Changing tactics, he turned to face Y/N once more.
“Obviously, the king’s order takes precedence, but might I ask when you think you could have these boxes delivered to us? Without rushing you too much, of course.”
“Tomorrow works for me,” Y/N shrugged, glancing back over to the stack of boxes on the shelf.
“I could deliver them early tomorrow morning, but I’d require your signature upon arrival to confirm the process; yknow, regulation bullshit like that.”
Erwin opened his mouth to respond, but quickly closed it with a slight frown.
“I’m afraid I have other places to be tomorrow until noon; would you be available then, by chance?”
Now it was Y/N’s turn to frown as she glanced at a calendar hung up by a nail on the far wall, squinting to read the lines of scribbled ink under the dates.
“I’m sorry…I leave for Sina just before noon tomorrow to speak with the king’s assistants about the decor change for the banners. If you’re a fan of early mornings, the best I could offer would be…this time, next week.”
“We’d need this parchment before then; perhaps we could just come pick it up?” Erwin tried, glancing from the calendar she studied from afar and then back towards her.
“It’d have to be early on, in the morning. Before we open shop, that is.” Y/N bit her lip, mentally calculating her own schedule.
All went quiet for a brief moment as they attempted to come to an agreement, when Levi’s voice broke the silence with a simple statement.
“I’ll do it.”
Both Erwin and Y/N perked up at the sudden intrusion, both their eyes swiveling over to Levi, who’d taken a step back from resting against the tabletop near Erwin. He glanced toward Erwin, meeting his eye through inky bangs.
“If you want this damned paper so badly, I’ll just come get it tomorrow morning. I’m always up early as it is; might as well do something useful with it,” Levi huffed before turning his gaze away.
A sort of gleam shone in Erwin’s eyes as he briefly thought it over, no doubt some sort of plan forming in his mind.
“That works for me, if it works for you, Y/N.”
“Sure. I can get here earlier than usual and just have him sign the necessary paperwork. He’s of higher rank, it should be fine.”
Y/N chimed in after a moment after mulling the idea over.
Looks were exchanged from both sides of the table, a silent agreement settling between them all. Briefly Y/N’s eyes met Levi’s, observing, calculating…Neither looked away, until Nike spoke up.
“Well, now that that’s all settled,” he groaned, pushing off of the table.
“We’ll leave you to it, kid. Go grab some lunch, take a break, sit down awhile. Don’t overwork yourself, yeah?”
“Yes, sir,” Y/N smiled softly, then turned to face Erwin and Levi once more.
“It was nice to formally meet you both,”she smiled, walking around the table to offer out a hand—surprisingly well weathered and a bit chapped—for them to shake in turn.
Erwin grasped her hand without hesitation and gave it a soft, but firm, shake. His hand dropped from hers a moment later, only to wrap around her shoulders and pull her into a quick embrace.
“It was nice to see you again, dear. I should hope to see you again soon.”
“I have a feeling you will, Erwin. With you running the Scouts, I’m sure there will be a lot more paperwork orders coming through my shop.” Y/N snorted.
She then pulled away from Erwin’s embrace to face Levi, extending the same hand out to him. Hesitantly, he took it, and gave a firm shake as well.
Again his eyes locked onto hers, and for a moment he didn’t dare blink as she began to speak directly to him once more.
“I appreciate you coming in tomorrow and getting this off my hands. I’ll see you bright and early tomorrow morning, Levi.”
It took Levi an unusual amount of time to respond, almost as if his mind were elsewhere while his eyes flickered across her dirtied face. Eventually he cleared his throat and removed his hand from hers quickly, casting his gaze aside.
“Just doing my job, apparently. I wasn’t aware my duties covered this, but so be it,” he grumbled, taking a step back from her.
Once again stepping forward, it was Nile’s turn to clear his throat—again. Though, not before casting a sidelong glance Levi’s way this time.
“You two take the carriage back. I’ll call another after a moment, so don’t wait up.” He droned, glancing between the two.
“I’m going to stay here awhile longer, I think.”
Nodding respectfully, Erwin turned to take his leave, signaling for Levi to do the same.
“Thank you, again, Ms. Y/N. It’s truly appreciated.” Erwin spoke over his shoulder, offering one last kind smile as he paced towards the workshop’s door.
Mimicking it, Y/N shifted her weight to rest against the end of the table where she now stood.
“Of course, Erwin. I’ll see you around,” she chirped back, watching the pair leave.
One last time her eyes met with Levi’s, curiously, this time, before the workshop door was closed behind him a solid a thud.
Tumblr media
As Quick Craft’s front door closed behind the Scouts with a soft chime, Levi took in a deep breath and exhaled it slowly.
By now the sun was higher up in the sky, though the breeze was still cool enough to prompt him to tug at the collars of his uniform jacket.
Seeing his frown from over his shoulder, Erwin raised a thick brow.
“Was that so bad? You act as though it were.”
“It wasn’t all bad, I suppose,” Levi grumbled, making his way past Erwin’s slower pace to reach the carriage first. Opening the door ahead of the coachman, Levi rushed inside to take his seat.
“At least now we can put this scandal behind us and focus on more important things.”
“More important things? I’d like to think this task was just as important as any other task you’re assigned to with your new rank,”
Erwin mused with a slight upturn to his lips as he followed Levi inside the carriage and took his seat. With a nod to the coachman through the window—to which the man gave a sullen nod in response to—Erwin turned a curious eye onto his companion.
Once the coachman had climbed up into his own seat and the cart began to move.
“Just think; without the parchment necessary, how else could I write out your wages?”
Erwin tried, observing closely the way Levi scowled.
“I’d get them one way or another.” He mumbled quietly.
“This, I don’t doubt,” Erwin sighed, shaking his head slightly in amusement.
“The shop opens at eight o’clock sharp; you’ll be sure to be here before then?”
“Of course I will,” Levi clicked his tongue, though the way his eyes wandered back towards the shop slowly fading into the distance gave away he truly didn’t mind the task, despite his tone. He looked almost…Contented, somehow.
“I’ll be here, and I’ll sign the damned papers. I’ll have the boxes in HQ well before noon.”
His response was met with silence; a contented silence, in which Erwin finally removed his scrutinizing gaze from the shorter man and went about peering through his window once more.
The streets were more alive now, civilians milling about on their daily tasks and errand runs. Despite the slower speed of the carriage because of this, it proved for some more interesting sights this time around.
“I saw the way you watched her,” Erwin suddenly spoke up, his gaze focused elsewhere out the window as he spoke.
Feigning ignorance, Levi huffed, stiffening a bit around the shoulders.
“Watched who?”
“Don’t play dumb, Levi. You’re not so good at that as you are dealing out sarcasm.”
“I wasn’t watching Y/N any sort of way.”
Levi defended, having the gall to even look offended at the mere prospect. To this, Erwin only grinned.
“Ah, but I didn’t say her name, did I? I could have been referring to the woman standing in the lobby when we left.”
Erwin chuckled, briefly meeting his eye before Levi quickly looked away with a scowl.
“That old hag? Eyebrows, between the two of us, you’re more likely to be the one to go for a woman twice your age than I would be. No offence.”
“I’ve learned to never truly take offence whenever you speak,” Erwin grumbled back, biting back another sigh.
“Either way, I’m trusting you with this; don’t get too distracted. I’m going to need those papers for documents in a couple of days, I can’t afford another set back.”
For a moment it didn’t seem that Levi would respond; just leave him in baited silence, But after a pause, he sighed, nearly hanging his head in defeat—though he’d never go so far as to physically show submission like that, and refrained.
“Whatever you say, Eyebrows. I’ll get the damned job done. Since it seems I have to…”

~More Levi Ackerman content here~
𝓐/𝓝 ~ I struggled with this chapter. I truly did. Sure, it’s only the second one of the series so far, but I got so stuck on making it ‘perfect’ (for myself and others) that I forgot to have fun with it. After some time to sort through some personal shit, which took a couple months, I came back to this with a lighter mind. Now, we’re back :) Thanks for being patient with me while life was throwing curveballs my way! And as always thanks for reading!

Wrath (Fluff Version)
Levi Ackerman x Reader
**Genre: Fluff **Note: Reader is not gendered **Key: Y/N- Your Name Colors: Levi, YN (Talking) **Word Count: 522
Levi Ackerman is what many would call frightening. He was on the shorter side but if anything, that only added to his intimidating demeanor. Everyone knew not to cross him and when they did his punishments were by far the most horrible of anyone’s. Luckily as long as you did as you were told and kept everything perfectly clean, he wasn’t bad. Honestly, he wasn’t a bad guy once you got down to it. He had just been through a lot.  Levi was your captain and for the most part you were a good soldier and had been one of the few people to have not had to bear his wrath. You quite liked Levi and as far as people go, and he tolerated you more than most. It helped that you found him to be quite attractive. You would never admit it to anyone, but you had a bit of a crush on your captain. Knowing Levi, he didn’t do relationships. He only had one goal, to slay every titan. So, you buried your feelings and kept everything on a professional level at least until today. Today you had been slacking off during training and Levi was quick to notice. After training Levi confronted you and demanded some extra one on one training during dinner as your punishment. You were just grateful it wasn’t stable duties. Those were the worst. When the time came you went to the training field where Levi was already waiting for you. “So, you finally show up.” “I’m still five minutes early captain.” Levi gave you a small tch and training began. Not long into training Levi could see you weren’t really trying and decided to talk to you. Talking didn’t seem to work and you seemed unbothered. He decided to take you on with hand-to-hand combat instead, and within moments you were pinned under him on the ground. “Trying to scare me by overpowering me huh captain. Too bad I’m not scared of you.” “ Oh is that so? Well then why is your heart beating so fast?” You suddenly noticed just how close the two of you were, you could feel his breath fan you face as he spoke. Without thinking you say, “Well because you’re cute.”. Shocked neither of you moved or said anything. After what felt like an eternity Levi spoke. “Y/N… you like me?” Blushing and being unable to look him in the face, you reply. “Um... Yes, I have a crush on you Levi. Also, would you mind getting off.” After quickly getting up and helping you up Levi finally said what you always wanted to hear. “It’s crazy, for so long I’ve only had one goal. I always block out feelings do to always losing the people I care for most, but you you’re the exception. I like you too Y/N. But if you wouldn’t mind could we take this slow?” “Of course, Levi!! I’m just so happy you feel the same way. And I promise I won’t let this get in the way of the main goal, saving humanity.” You two happily walked to grab dinner after that.
**Note: I was trying something new out with this story and the talking lines being color coded and bold. LMK what y'all think of that or if you'd prefer I just left it normal.

“Part of your hair’s gone askew,” he remarks quietly.
He watches as your fingers drift up, searching for the errant strand. Your touch is tentative, uncertain. “Oh, where? I can’t feel a thing,” you ask softly, voice barely above a whisper.
“Here. . .” He lifts his own hand to meet the stray lock, a delicate thread of silk that has slipped against your neck. His fingers glide through it, savoring its softness; he brushes it back with a tenderness that feels both natural and forbidden. “Hold still,” he whispers, stepping behind you with the faintest breath of a pause. His presence looms gently but undeniably. You know well that even if you assure him you can manage on your own, he’ll continue to insist on doing it for you—grumbling that it’s simply to prevent you from making a further tangle of it.
You smile faintly—a silent, knowing smile—your hands clasping together in front of you. You’re aware of his determination, aware that his touch lingers longer than it should, aware of everything left unsaid.
His fingers hover, just long enough to betray him, before smoothing the strands with quiet precision. The faint scent of your lavender soap wafts swirls around him, stirring a feeling he certainly isn’t ready to acknowledge. Your head tilts ever so slightly toward his touch, as if instinctively following the warmth of his hand, and his heartbeat stutters, quickening in that unnoticed moment.
“There you are,” he murmurs; his voice is quieter now, as though the very air between you has thickened. He doesn’t step away—not yet. “All fixed.”
“Thank you.” Your words are simple, but your smile—a small bloom of warmth—is luminous, as though it contains something more. You tilt your face toward him, the movement gentle, as though sensing his lingering presence behind you. “You’re far too kind, you know.”
“Kindness,” he replies, his voice dipping into something reflective, “isn’t much of a chore.”
“Oh, you’d be surprised, dear,” you say softly, a lilting hum in your tone, as your fingers tighten around each other, and a delicate blush tints your cheeks. “But if you’re intent on becoming my personal hairdresser, I think you’ll need more practice. It still feels a bit crooked.”
He chuckles, a quiet huff that’s both amusement and a subtle defense against the vulnerability creeping in. “Really now? I’m sure I fixed it perfectly.” He shifts to your side now, his eyes tracing the contours of your hair with exaggerated scrutiny. A hint of playful indignation lies in his gaze—though he knows you cannot see the expression, only hear the soft smile in his voice.
“Hm, I suppose I’ll have to take your word for it.” Your smile broadens, teasing, but there’s a faint tremor beneath the surface—something fragile that only he notices. It stirs a familiar ache within him, one he’s grown used to denying, though it grows harder and harder to ignore.
“You always take my word for it,” he murmurs, his voice dropping to a low, intimate register, one that barely reaches the space between you, “even when you probably shouldn’t.”
You turn your head towards him, your lips parting as though on the edge of a confession—words teetering on the brink, yearning to escape. But they remain held back, tethered by an invisible thread that stretches between you, taut with the weight of unspoken truths. For a fleeting instant, he contemplates whether this is the moment—if this is when he will finally articulate what has been brewing beneath his ribcage for so long. But just as he gathers the courage, you release a soft, breathy laugh and shake your head, dispelling the moment like morning mist.
“Honestly, Levi,” you say, the lightness in your tone masking the depth beneath, “what would I do without you?”
And just like that, the moment is lost. He exhales, a soft, resigned breath, his hand trailing briefly over the back of his neck. He manages a faint smile, though it bears the weight of what remains unspoken.
“Hopefully,” he replies, his voice tinged with quiet sincerity, “you’ll never have to discover that for yourself.”

“What are you doing?” Levi mutters tiredly, his words broken slightly by the sleep he had just woken up from.
“Nothing.” You answer back softly and aimlessly as you mindlessly traces his back, with a soft smile, your pointer finger gently smoothing over each back dimple and muscle.
Levi lets out a little sleepy huff as your words, closing his eyes once again as your slow and steady finger movements over his back lull him back to sleep.
He’ll never tell you but these little things you do like tracing the muscles (and dimples, which he doesn’t believe he has) on his back, or playing with fingers under the table or combing your fingers through his hair, are his favorite calming methods.
You existing already just relaxes him, but these little things you do to him just makes his entire body melt and his heart flutter.
These little mindless moments are his favorite.

You visit Levi at his office and worship him
Tumblr media
A long sigh escaped Levi as he signed off on another form for training. The scribbles of his pen echoed in the room. Exhaustion washed over him when he noticed the large stack of papers was not going down. He was at his wit's end, he wanted to run away from it and go home to his perfect wife, but he knew he had to finish everything or it'd get worse.
He glanced up when someone knocked. "Tch, what? I'm busy." His heart raced when you opened the door and leaned around. He softly said your name. "Come in."
You slipped into his office, closed the door behind you and locked it. "Hey, honey. May I stay?"
"Of course." He got up from his seat and hurried over to you. "You look stunning." He pulled you against him and kissed you. "So, Mrs Ackerman."
You giggled. "Yes?"
"What do I owe the pleasure of your visit?"
You held his hands and showered them with loving kisses. "I wanted to visit you. You're working a lot more and you seem stressed."
He hummed a laugh. "I am a bit, but I feel so much better every time I'm with you."
You pulled him over to his desk and put him in his chair. "You're such a charmer."
"I'm being honest." He looked up at you. "Why am I sitting here? Don't you want to cuddle on my bed?"
You pushed his chair back a little before sinking to your knees. "Well..." You tied your hair up before massaging Levi's thick thighs. "I wanted to help you relax." You pushed your hands up further and squeezed the insides of his thighs. You looked up through your lashes as you bit your lip. "Levi, will you let me indulge and feed my addiction?"
Levi gulped hard as he felt his cock twitch, he knew exactly what you were talking about. He was obsessed with your breasts and eating you out, you were obsessed with giving him head as often as possible. You would sweetly ask if you could at any possible opportunity.
Before you, he'd never done anything like this before. You had taken all his firsts and he'd taken all yours. The two of you had become absolutely addicted and obsessed with the other. Your romance was deep and passionate, but you kept things private in your own little world.
Levi parted his legs. "Are you sure you want to, my darling?" He caressed your cheek before running his thumb over your bottom lip and pushing it into your mouth. He moaned as your tongue swiped over his thumb. "I should know better than to ask you if you really want this." He smiled a little. "I'm all yours."
You gasped in delight before undoing his belt, zipping his trousers down and pulling out his erection. You marvelled at the beauty that was Levi's cock. It was the perfect length, not too long where it felt like a spear, but it was just right and snug. He had a beautiful thickness to it where it'd stretch your walls in all the right places.
His tip was a cute pink that would only get deeper in colour. A throbbing vein wrapped around his shaft caressing it as blood pumped through it. The skin was so soft and warm, it was perfect to the touch, incredible inside you and wonderful to taste. He was a dream and all yours.
You touched and moved him so much that it caused him to grunt. You glanced up at him and smiled. "Sorry, I don't mean to tease you." He was so sweet as he moaned your name. You tapped his heavy tip against your lips and just enjoyed the weight. "Mm, you're perfect. You have such a pretty dick."
Levi blushed hard before looking away. "Tch, you...damn brat."
You hummed a laugh before sticking your tongue out and flicking his tip repeatedly. After licking for a bit you couldn't resist anymore, you needed to taste him fully. You sank your mouth down on him and took his tip. His warmth was electrifying and the taste of his precum spread through your mouth coating every inch, it was divine.
Levi gripped the arms of the chair as you sank your head lower. He squeezed his toes as he felt a tingling pleasure. He lifted his hips a little causing him to push into your mouth a bit. He sat back down dragging his cock back from you. A moaned sigh left his kissable lips as pleasure tingled through him.
When you started moving your head up and down with your tongue moving against him, he couldn't help but lean his head back and pant. He pushed his hand through his hair and tugged a bit. "Fuck." He pushed his hips up a little as a pulse of pleasure hit him. "Mm." He moaned your name and looked down at you. "Shit. You are so beautiful."
He gulped hard when you looked up at him through your lashes. He felt his heart skip a beat when you smiled a little. Levi had to hold back as much as possible, he just wanted to ravage you against his desk, but he needed to behave. He tugged on his hair more and grunted at the added pleasure.
Levi shivered as the vibration of your moan sent him into another world of euphoria. A mixture of feelings was within him, he was relaxed but also tensed up from the pleasure. He panted a little faster and tangled his fingers in your hair. He pushed your head back a bit allowing him to admire your beauty.
He moaned your name as you sucked harder and moved your tongue more. "A-Ah, ha, ha, ngh." He shook a little. "I'm gonna cum." He tried to pull you off him, but you kept sucking. "B-Brat, y-you." He grunted and moaned as he came into your mouth. "Sh-shit."
You gulped down his hot sticky load and cleaned his cock with your tongue. You smiled up at him. "You're delicious."
He panted a little and blushed. "You...tch, naughty brat."
You giggled. "Sorry, I couldn't help myself."
"I should spank you."
You got up with Levi's eyes following you. "You should." You went to the bathroom and returned with a wet cloth. "We'd both love it." You cleaned Levi up and tucked him away. "Besides, we've been over this, either I swallow or your cum gets on things and me." You kissed him. "Which means mess and cleaning."
He huffed a bit. "You're right." He gave you his tea. "For the taste in your mouth."
You downed the tea and hummed. "Thank you."
He yanked you onto his lap. "I love you so much."
"I love you too." You nuzzled his neck. "Did you like it?"
"I loved it. You always make me feel good." He squeezed you. "May I eat you? I'm starving, my love." He moved his hand up between your legs. "I crave it like you crave me."
You mewled at his touch. "Levi."
He cupped the side of your face. "Fuck, I love you so much. I'm a lucky man."
"I'm lucky too." You nibbled your lip. "Levi, I'm all yours."

Husband! Levi whose first customer in his tea shop was you.
Husband! Levi who instantly fell in love with you. You became a regular in his tea shop and he always remembered your everyday order.
Husband! Levi who proposed to you a few years later and the two of you got married.
Husband! Levi wakes up with a smile everyday seeing your sleeping form beside him. Every morning he kisses your forehead.
Husband! Levi and you make breakfast together. The kitchen filled with your giggles.
The wind flows in through the window beside your kitchen as you sing softly. He hugs you from behind and rests his chin on your shoulders.
Oh how he loves your voice..
Husband! Levi loves listening to you talk while he brews tea for the both of you.
Husband! Levi who hangs up paintings and illustrations made by you on the walls of his tea shop.
The tea shop has little of you everywhere. Things that remind him of you. Unbeknownst to you, he has dedicated himself and the tea shop to you.

THE COST OF LOVE. - Armin A.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Word Count: 1,700+
Pairing: Armin Arlert x Reader
Summary: Y/N, a skilled soldier, fights in the war against Marley. After being injured by a gunshot, she continues to battle alongside her comrades. As the fight intensifies, she boards the airship with her group, hoping for safety, but things take a tragic turn.
Warnings: Mentions of blood, guns, killing, character death, ANGST (lmk if i miss anything)
Tumblr media
Chaos.
That was the only word that could describe the state of this place. Eren Yaeger has declared war on Marley. This war was started to take revenge on the people who bestowed all of the numerous tragedies upon Paradis.
The 'devils' of Paradis swarmed Marley like flies. Their new-and-improved regimental uniforms helped them blend into the night. Their ODM gear were equipped with these new guns that were easy to weild around. These 'devils' fought. Fought for not only their life, but also for the ones their foes killed in cold blood.
Warriors from each side used their power of the titans. Jaw, Beast, Cart, War Hammer, Attack, Colossal. Their roars echoed in the night.
Y/N was a skilled veteran from the scouts 104th cadet corps. She swung from house to house with her ODM gear. Marleyans began to fight back with their rifles. Y/N wasn't prepared for this. She weaved through the bullets flying around her. The grapple of her ODM gear lodged into a parapet on top of one Marley's building.
Puffs of gas shot out from her gear, sending her to the roof. As she moved, a Marleyan stood on the soil below her, their gun trained on her. Just before she reached the top, they shot their gun. A bullet lodged into her arm. This disrupted her movement, sending her tumbling down on the roof.
Y/N sat up, clutching her arm and gritting her teeth. "Damnit." She muttered under breath. Blood oozed through her knit fingers, heating up her cold hand. She sat herself up, back pressed against the parapet. The sound of gunshots rung in her ears, the screeching of ODM gear distinct. "This won't stop me." Those four words repeated in her head.
Her thoughts were interupted when she felt the roof start to rumble below her. When she looked up, her eyes were met with the night sky being illuminated. Once she turned her head to the right, her ears were bombarded with the sound of an explosion. Bright yellow and orange light met the dark sky, nearly making it look as if it were day time. This meant the plan was on the right track.
"Armin..." Y/N whispered to herself. She looked towards where the explosion came from to see the Colossal titan. Armin took out Marley's back up. Thousands of soldiers wiped out in the blink of an eye. Ironic how Armin caused Marley's port to dry up from the explosion, leaving the surrounding area a glowing red. The Colossal was truly a god of destruction.
Y/N knew this wasn't the time to sit around and mope. She couldn't let Armin distract her. Y/N shot her ODM gear again, swinging with her un-injured arm. She unloaded her gun into the bodies of Marleyan shoulders, watching them drop dead. Once her gun was empty, she found and grouped up with Jean, Connie, Saha, and other cadets. Y/N assumed they took down the Cart titan.
They all hunkered down on a roof along the path of lights that were placed to direct the air ship. Y/N took the time to reload her gun. "Jean, It's here." Connie broke the silence. "Yeah. It's right on time." Jean replied, Y/N felt hopeful.
The plan was to grapple onto the bottom of the ship and eliminate enemies from below. As the air ship passed above the building, the group lodged their ODM gear into the base of it. Y/N pushed off the roof, swinging into the night sky. She pointed her gun at her opposers below, firing her gun once more. She winced as the vibrations of her gun shot up her arm, her gunshot wound aching.
The air ship flew above Marley's internment zone, street lights illuminating the ground below. The city was destroyed, buildings crumbled, debris in the streets. Y/N felt a pang of guilt and shame looking down but she had to remind herself what these people did. All of the lives they took.
Y/N was brought back into the moment once they were instructed to get into the air ship. "C'mon Y/N!" Jean reminded her. Y/N took one last look at the place. Her rage and ambition pushed the feeling of remorse down. This wasn't the time to feel bad. With Jean already climbing through the open door, Y/N took a huff of the air before retracting her ODM wire and heading towards safety.
Y/N felt a large sense of hope. She prayed to the gods that Armin would be inside the ship waiting for her. She just wanted to be with him after all of this chaos.
Jean and Connie reached their hand out for Y/N as she grabbed onto the netting just below them. Y/N smiled. She was happy all of the people she loved the most were okay. Sure it was kind of selfish, but it was what she felt in the moment.
Y/N reached her bloody hand out for the two, everything felt like it was going right. That was until one Marleyan soldier aimed their gun. Aimed their gun at Y/N.
The boom of the shot rang into the night. The bullet trained on Y/N flew through the air. The bullet pierced her skin and ultimately landed lodged into her chest.
Y/N's hand faltered but Connie and Jean acted fast. They reached and grabbed onto her blood covered arm and hoisted her into the ship.
They laid her on the floor, her blood creating a trail from the door. Y/N could barely talk. All she could think about was Armin. She didn't care about the hands that were patching her wound. She just wanted the hands holding her to be her lovers.
Meanwhile in the head of the ship, Armin was watching Levi discuss their alliance with Zeke after disciplining Eren. Armin fidgeted with his fingers nervously. "Is Y/N okay? Is she...alive?" those words repeated in his head. He didn't care about the words the people around him were saying.
"She's bleeding out! Get some bandages, hurry!" Jean yelled out to the others around him. Sasha kneeled beside Y/N, holding her hand. "You're gonna get s-some help okay!" Sasha rubbed her thumb on Y/N's hand. Connie's brows furrowed with worry as he looked down at them.
Y/N's eyes looked panicked as she focused on the brown haired girls words. She couldn't move at all, her chest burning with pain. The blood from both her gunshot wounds mixed on the wood floor. A cold sweat broke out on her forehead and palms.
One of the cadets grabbed bandages and brought them over to Y/N. He quickly turned her to her side, wrapping the wound in the center of her chest. "Stay with us Y/N!" Sasha clutched the girls bloody hand.
The moment those words hit Armin's ears, his heart dropped.
The blonde haired boy quickly turned around and ran out of the room. His breath caught in his throat as the feeling of dread washed over him.
The door opened loudly and his eyes were met with Y/N's body laying on the floor. His heart pounded in his chest. "Y/N!" Armin cried out, not caring if he disturbed the others. He rushed to her side. Mikasa followed behind him. Jean and Sasha stood up and backed away from Y/N.
"Y/N." Armin said once more as he kneeled beside her. His hand found hers, clutching it tightly. His eyes immediately looked to the blood pooled around her on the floor. His knees, now were drenched in her crimson.
Her ears rung loudly as she laid there. The blood that flowed from the hole in her chest was overwhelming and painful. Y/N's teeth clenched, her vision a blur. Out of all of the voices that were mixed with the throbbing in her ears, one voice stood out. Armin.
"Y/N, can you hear me? S-Say something please.." Armin snuck his hand around the back of her neck. His eyes dared to spill tears as he spoke, his voice cracking. Mikasa sat opposite of him, holding Y/N's other hand.
"Armin..." Y/N managed to utter out, her voice barely above a whisper. Small tears left Y/N's eyes, dripping down to her temples and into her hair. Her hands weakly grabbed Armin's and Mikasa's. The boy momentarily felt relieved as he heard Y/N speak.
"I'm right here." he spoke, "I'm right here." He reassured her, rubbing his thumb on the back of her hand. Y/N's face showed less and less emotion every second that passed.
Armin was at a loss for words. There was nothing he could do but watch her pained expressions as tears fell down her face. "Y/N, hold on please. I can't do this without you." His hand moved away from under her and to her cheek, carressing it.
Armin's touch was usually soothing and comforting to Y/N but when his fingers brushed along her skin this time, her whole body was wracked with pain. It's not his fault though. The blood oozed from her chest and arm stained the bandages wrapped around her.
Y/N's sight grew darker by every passing second, her eyelids felt heavier and heavier. The ringing in her ears dulled down.
"It'll be okay." he continued, desperately trying to convince her but also himself. His voice cracked as he spoke, his bottom lip quivering.
Just before Y/N's grip of Armin's hand faltered she squeezed it three times. Her arm then went limp, the weight being held by Armin. Her breathing slowed, as her gaze went to the ceiling, her eyelids lowered enough to almost fully cover her eyes.
With his other hand, Armin ran his fingers through her hair just like he usually did, holding her hand delicaitaly with his other.
Her body laid still now, her heartbeat slowed and her chest basically stopped moving. Armin was losing her, and he knew it. He could do nothing silently cry by her side, praying that somehow she would make it through this.
With one final breath, Y/N died. Died with the person she loved most holding her. His hands soft as silk, just as she remembered. His eyes, as blue as the sea were drowned with tears.
As much as Armin tried to hold back his cries, he just couldn't anymore. He let himself cry, not caring if anyone else in the ship witnessed him mourn his lover.
He sobbed, holding her hand tightly in his own as he whispered those three words over and over again in her ear.
"I love you."

Kindergarden love
Tumblr media
Sumarry: Falling in love with a kindergarten teacher after a divorce from his wife, Levi thinks deeply about if ever he can reciprocate this feeling and is afraid you wouldn't like him just as much as he does, and yet you somehow have mixed feelings about him. After all, a divorced man shouldn't fall in love, and yet he can't help it.

"I assure you, Mr. Ackerman, your son will be safe as always under my watch. He’s a good boy and behaves well; he’s already made some lovely friends in class." You smile reassuringly at Levi as his son, Elijah, enters the bright, colorful classroom. The sight of him running toward his friends at the table brings warmth to your heart—a daily reminder of why you chose to work in kindergarten.
"I know, I know, it's just..." Levi pauses, running a hand through his hair, his face clouded with worry. He leans in slightly, lowering his voice as he quietly says your last name, almost like he’s confiding in you. "I’m worried about him. This divorce has really affected him, and I can't shake the feeling that it's my fault."
Levi sighs heavily, his eyes reflecting a mix of regret and concern. "I wish I could just take away all the stress and hurt he's been feeling." You nod, understanding the weight of his words. It’s never easy navigating such turbulent waters as a parent, especially when a child’s emotional well-being is at stake. You place a comforting hand on his shoulder.
“Don’t worry, I’m always here for you. If anything’s bothering you, please feel free to talk to me anytime.” Levi nodded slowly at your words, the tension in his shoulders easing just a touch. He stepped back, waved briefly, and then turned to enter his car, the engine rumbling to life as he drove away.
You closed the door behind you, taking a moment to breathe in the lively atmosphere of the kindergarten. The sizable room was filled with the joyful sounds of children laughing and playing with their friends. It was still early—the class wouldn’t start until 8 a.m.—so you welcomed the delightful chaos, letting them indulge in their energetic play.
“Levi always has eyes for you,” chirped Petra, her voice bright and teasing as she skipped over to you, hands clasped playfully behind her back. Her smile was infectious, and you couldn't help but grin back at her. “Ever since he started bringing his son here, he hasn’t been able to take his eyes off you! I swear, even when your back is turned, he’s still watching you. He’s completely smitten!”
"Oh, come on! He’s just staring because he might have something on his mind," you said, trying to play it cool, but Petra wasn't convinced. The tension in the air made it clear that you both were undeniably smitten with each other, and she wasn’t about to let you brush it off.
"Nonsense! I’m not buying your excuses, and trust me, I know what I’m talking about!" She grabbed your shoulders and shook you lightly, her eyes sparkling with excitement. “He’s in love with you! Have you ever considered that a divorced man might be falling for you, especially after enduring such a painful breakup? He’s looking for a chance to love again!”
You grimaced at the thought, your mind racing with the implications. "It just feels too soon for him to jump into another relationship. Besides, I might just be a temporary distraction to fill his void. I honestly don’t think Levi is ready to move on. He has a son to care for!”
Petra rolled her eyes and let out a playful “tut-tut” sound, shaking her head in disbelief. “You’re missing the obvious! Just look into his eyes! There’s a spark there—he’s ready to open his heart again. And what about his son? Have you seen how he looks at you? It’s as if you’re not just a teacher to him but a mother figure. He admires you more than his actual mother!”
You felt a wave of conflicting emotions wash over you as you considered Petra’s words.
"I don’t think so, Petra." You shrugged, feeling a bit uneasy about the whole situation. "His son might just be looking for a mother figure to admire. It’s not really a big deal, is it?"
Petra pouted slightly, her frustration evident as she rolled her eyes and let out an exasperated scoff. Getting more animated, she shook you again, her voice softening as she tried to offer you comfort. "Come on, don’t doubt yourself so much! What if this is your chance to finally score? You’ve never been in a relationship, right? Maybe this could be something truly special!"
She sighed and leaned in closer, her gaze steady as she said your name gently. "Look, I know Levi’s been through a rough patch, but maybe it's time to have hope again. I mean, all of us have noticed how you two share those long, fleeting glances before looking away. It’s like the universe is giving us a sign! How has our little ship not sailed yet?"
A grin crept onto your face at the thought. The idea of the entire community secretly shipping you and Levi was both amusing and surprising.
"Ship us? That’s ridiculous!" you protested, pulling away from her teasing grasp. "There’s no way! Levi would probably be uncomfortable with that idea."
"No, he wouldn’t," came Oluo's voice from across the room, cutting in as he intervened in the squabble between Eren and Jean. The two kindergartners were always up to something, causing chaos wherever they went. “Every time he hears it, he gets this troubled look on his face like he’s trying to suppress his true feelings.”
You looked up at Oluo, your heart racing a little at the implications of his words. Maybe there was more to Levi's reactions than you had initially thought.
Oh this is ridiculous!
You shake your head, trying to banish the unsettling thought that had crept into your mind. It’s almost laughable to imagine Levi being in love with you, especially after just having gone through a divorce. The weight of that reality sits heavily in your chest.
He's just using you as a temporary distraction, a way to trick himself into believing he’s moving on.
Your spiraling thoughts are abruptly interrupted by a loud, agonized scream from Oluo. You turn to see him doubled over, clutching his mouth where his tongue has been bitten off in the chaos of a fight that had erupted between Eren and Jean. Blood oozes between his fingers as he winces in pain, and the two troublemakers continue to exchange reckless punches, lost in their own world of brawling hatred.
Petra, worried and concern, rushes in to help Oluo, this is going to be a long day ahead.
——————
Levi sat in his car, fidgeting nervously in his seat as he stared at the message on his phone. The sunlight seeped through the windshield, casting a warm glow on his anxious expression. He was wrestling with the dilemma of whether or not to ask you out on a date. The idea of it filled him with both excitement and apprehension. He wanted to make it feel natural, to express his feelings without coming off as awkward.
Fortunately, the parking lot was empty, granting him a little privacy as he contemplated his next move. It was his day off, and this felt like the perfect opportunity to gather the courage to take the leap.
Ever since that day, he brought his son to your kindergarten, Levi found himself drawn to you. You had been a source of comfort and support for him, always reassuring him with your warm demeanor and encouraging words. Your exchanges—filled with playful banter and genuine concern—had become the highlight of his day, whether it was through the quick messages during nap time or the thoughtful updates you shared about his son.
When you gave him your phone number, he felt a surge of hope. It wasn't just about keeping in touch with his son; it was also an invitation to deepen the connection he felt with you. Those daily chats turned into something more meaningful than he had anticipated. As he thought about you, he realized that his feelings had grown into something resembling love. Now, he just needed to find the right moment to express it, hoping that you felt something similar too.
Ever since Levi divorced his wife, the painful memories of their tumultuous relationship linger in his mind like shadows that refuse to fade. Her betrayal, marked by infidelity and a barrage of verbal and even physical confrontations, left deep scars on his heart. The most heartbreaking aspect was witnessing his young son caught in the crossfire, helplessly observing the daily fights that erupted between his parents. Levi still remembers the painful image of his son retreating to his room, tears streaming down his innocent face, questioning why his mother and father couldn't find a way to love each other instead of hurt.
The emotional toll of the divorce weighed heavily on Levi, driving him into a spiral of despair. It hurt so much that he knew he had to seek therapy—he needed to heal, not just for himself, but for his son, who depended on him as a single father. After the divorce, his wife severed all ties, leaving him to shoulder the burdens of parenthood alone, including the financial responsibilities of child support that she neglected.
A decade of marriage had turned into a painful chapter of his life that seemed wasted, leaving him feeling lost and defeated. He fought through dark days when he felt he might give up entirely, but just when he thought he couldn’t take anymore, he met you.
You entered his life like a gentle light in the darkness. Unlike his past, your kindness and caring nature provided him solace. You understood his pain instinctively and were always there for him, even during the times he withdrew, ghosting you in moments of struggle. Yet, you continued to check on him, demonstrating patience and compassion that he never expected and deeply appreciated.
Those fleeting moments when you two locked eyes brought a warmth to his heart that he hadn’t felt in years. He found your shyness endearing, how you looked away quickly when he caught your gaze; it made him smile and feel something he thought was lost forever. Despite the weight of being a divorced man, he couldn’t help but fall for you, an unexpected yet beautiful realization in his life.
You saved him from his darkest moments, and words couldn't fully express his gratitude. The healing you brought into his life was immeasurable, and for that, he was eternally thankful.
With a heavy heart, he found himself clicking "delete" on the message he had felt so compelled to send. The words he had carefully crafted seemed to vanish in an instant, but the longing to ask you out in real life remained steadfast in his mind. Nerves fluttered in his stomach, and a wave of anxiety washed over him, but deep down, he clung to his hope like a lifeline.
————————
As the school bell rang, the classroom door swung open, and a wave of exuberant children poured out, their laughter echoing through the halls. Parents rushed in, scanning the sea of familiar faces to find their little ones, eager to embrace them after a long day. Meanwhile, you took a moment to survey the scene before turning back to the task at hand—organizing the classroom and tidying up after a fulfilling day of teaching.
With a slight sigh, you began gathering the scattered papers and art supplies, grateful for the help of Petra and Oluo, who chatted amiably as they tackled similar chores. Outside, Gunther and Eld were responsible for cleaning the playground, their playful banter mingling with the sounds of children. You smiled despite your fatigue; witnessing the joy on your students' faces made every bit of effort worthwhile. Each child seemed to find comfort and inspiration in your lessons, forging a unique bond that you cherished.
As your eyes scanned the now-empty classroom, you noticed one child still lingering by the front door, Elajah looking small and vulnerable. He often sat there, waiting patiently for his father, a habit that tugged at your heartstrings.
Setting your broom down beside Petra's, you walked over to him and knelt beside the little boy. "He'll pick you up soon," you reassured him gently.
Elajah nodded, but his expression was clouded with worry. He clutched his backpack tightly, his small fingers gripping the fabric as if it were a lifeline. With a tentative voice, he murmured, "I don’t want to see Papa sad anymore. He’s been rough, and he’s always tired. I see him not taking care of himself."
Your heart ached at his words. You pulled him into a comforting hug, feeling the weight of his fears. "It’s okay, kiddo. Your Papa is going through a tough time, but he will take care of himself someday. Sometimes, we all hit rough patches." you whispered, hoping to soothe his troubled thoughts.
He nodded, pressing his head against your chest. You could feel the warmth of tiny tears soaking through your shirt as he sniffled softly. This was a familiar scene—Elajah often let his emotions spill when he awaited his father, his young heart burdened by the echoes of his parents' fights and the harsh words that still haunted him. You wished there was more you could do to help him navigate through such a heavy load at such a tender age.
He pulled away, wiping his tears with his chubby cheeks, and nodded earnestly. His large, innocent eyes met yours, and he offered a small smile, showcasing his gapped front teeth. Elijah had inherited so many of Levi's features, and you couldn’t help but smile back at the little boy. "Thank you for always being with me. I’m sorry I cried so much, Teacher." he said, his voice quivering slightly.
You chuckled softly and shook your head, trying to reassure him. “It’s perfectly fine, Elijah. You can always express how you feel.” Just as you were comforting him, the sound of a car pulling up interrupted your moment. You glanced over to see Levi stepping out of his vehicle.
The transition was immediate; Elijah hugged you tightly for a brief moment before dashing toward his father. Levi knelt down to embrace his son, their connection palpable even from a distance. However, as he straightened up and walked towards you, your gaze sharpened on Levi's troubled expression. He was scratching his nape, his eyes cast downward in a way that signaled distress.
Your heart raced with concern. “Mr. Ackerman, are you alright?” you asked, your voice laced with worry. He shook his head slowly, keeping his gaze lowered as if the weight of the world was on his shoulders.
"No, there’s nothing wrong, I—" Levi hesitated, his lips pressing together as he took a long sigh. He closed his eyes for a moment, collecting his thoughts, before saying your name softly, which sent a flutter through your chest.
When he finally looked up at you, there was a vulnerability in his eyes that took you by surprise.
“Would you like to go on a date with me?” he asked, the words tumbling out, each syllable heavy with meaning.
Your heart skipped a beat, and heat rushed to your face as you momentarily lost your breath. All your worries and anxious thoughts about him crumbled away in that instant. His words weren't just casual; they were genuine and heartfelt.
Petra and the others had been right—he was indeed smitten with you, and there you were, obliviously caught in a whirlwind of emotions.
"I would love that, Mr. Ackerman," you replied softly, your voice almost a whisper. A small smile spread across Levi's face.
"Please, just Levi," he corrected, waving his hand dismissively but with a playful glint in his eyes.
Just then, Levi shifted his head to glance over your shoulder, and when you turned around, you were met with the sight of Petra, Oluo, Gunther, and Eld, clapping and cheering in unison. They had been observing your interaction from a distance, and you hadn’t even noticed!
“Wait, ho—hold on!" you stammered, still processing the surprise.
“Mr. Ackerman knew we gathered behind your back and watched you both. He didn't tell you!" Petra giggled, placing a hand over her mouth to stifle her laughter.
You shot Levi an incredulous look, but he simply let out a small chuckle, a hint of mischief dancing in his eyes.
Oh, this man.

"Coffee? This shit's expensive."
You reached for the packet that was sitting on top of the desk, surprised. Coffee was for rich nobles, not for soldiers with meager pay. Levi swatted at your hand.
"Don't touch my shit."
"What?" You took back your hand, pouting at him. "I was just saying."
Levi shot a glare at you, irritated. "Why don't you just shut up and go back to your work? My possessions are none of your business."
You groaned, eyes flicking to the empty papers in front of you that you were supposed to write reports on. "But I've been working for hours. My fingers hurts. Let me take a break."
"Stop being dramatic.
"I'm not being dramatic. You're being dramatic." You mumbled, again reaching for the package. He didn't try to stop you this time. He only glanced, eyebrows furrowing in annoyance, then going back to working. You were stubborn as fuck and he had learnt long ago telling you not to do something only inspired you to do the opposite, specially when you realized it pissed him off.
"Where the heck did you even get this?" You flip the packet, eyes widening at the price. It wasn't just expensive, it was super expensive. Levi sighed.
"Must you be so nosy all the damn time?"
"Yes." You nod, eager to know. You weren't going to let it go until you got answers. You were stubborn that way. And his unwillingness only made you all the more interested.
Or maybe you just loved pissing him off. It was amusing in a way.
Your crude captain barely ever showed emotions, so you'll take what you get. Even if the only emotions he has the capacity to display is annoyance and frustration.
Getting him riled up was perhaps, the highlight of your day. Only source of entertainment ment in the four walls of this boring facility.
What made it all better was, he'd grumble, he'd complain, he'd spew curses under his breath, but he'd still let you stick around. And he'd rather die than admit it, but it made you think that perhaps, he didn't find you as 'unpleasant' as he says he does after all.
"I didn't get it." He responded irritatedly, eyes on the papers.
"Huh?" You tilted your head, not satisfied. "What do you mean? What, this packet just grew legs and started walking and came all the way up over here? Plus, I didn't think you even like coffee. I only ever saw you drink tea–"
"You talk too much."
"Okay but," You ignored his little snide remark. "No, but this is premium quality and you haven't even opened it yet. Why'd you get it of you won't have it?"
"I didn't get it." He repeated. "And I don't like coffee."
"Thought so." You nodded. That's also another reason you were surprised to see the packet. He loathed coffee, you knew. Even though the cheap shit served in the cafeteria was truly repulsive, you would chug it down without hesitation. And the face Levi made every damn time was worth it all. That's how you learnt the bitter captain surprisingly hated the bitter drink.
"So if you're not gonna have it, can I have some? Because I'm falling asleep."
"No. I can't stand the smell of it."
"Of course you don't." You scoffed. "You drink your tea just fine though. In my opinion, that tastes more horrible."
"I didn't bring you here to comment about my drink preferences."
"Volunteering. Because you have shit preferences and someone needs to let you know–"
"Do you ever shut up?"
"No." You grinned. "Where'd you get it captain?"
"If I tell you, will you shut up?" He looked up, exasperated.
You pretended to consider. "Perhaps."
He glared at you.
"Okay I might." You nodded. "No promises, but I might. Go on, tell me."
He stared at you skeptically, weighing his options of either answering your questions so that you'd let it go or smack you in the face with the heavy file. He was seriously considering the latter at this point.
Then he sighed.
"I just know this is gonna make this worse." He muttered. "If you must know, it was a gift."
"A gift?!" Your jaw dropped.
"Captain! Who gifted you something so expensive? Don't tell me you have a secret lo-"
"Get your mind out of the gutter." He snapped, cutting you off before you could say it.
"Okay." You raised your hand in mock surrender. "Okay. No secret lovers got it. Who was it then?"
He pinched his nose bridge closing his eyes. Bracing himself for the shit you were going to give him after what he's going to say next.
"Some random Garrison Regiment Squad leader I think. Captain sova or shiva or something of that sort. Carried some heavy loads for her and then she got all soppy and grateful and wanted to express her thanks, despite my insistence that I despised coffee." He explained, ignoring the change on your expression with every word. Dear walls, he can practically hear the screws turning in your head.
"...no way." You gaped at him.
"How expensive is this shit anyway?" He reached for the packet, curiosity poking him at the genuine disbelief in your face.
"50$?" His eyes widened, brows raising. He had no idea gratitude for helping out was worth that much.
"You're just noticing it now?!" You were absolutely appalled.
"I told you I have no interest towards coffee." He said defensively.
"But– how could you not?"
"Because it's insignificant?"
"It's–" You weren't sure whether you should laugh or cry. "Have you heard of the term, 'curiosity'?"
"I simply don't care. I have way too much in my plate to sit around and observe the price of a coffee package. Have I mentioned that I loathe coffee?"
"Jeez, it was a gift. You could at least pretend to care."
He only raised an eyebrow.
"I mean..you might not have a lot of interest in coffee," You said. "But she sure sounds as if she had much interest in you."
"She? The captain?" Levi furrowed his brows, clueless.
"Yes?!" You were even more confused to see his confused expression. "Who else would I talk about?"
He shook his head. "You're misunderstanding. She was just grateful."
"Grateful because you helped her heave heavy things? So she pays you back with 50$?"
Levi pressed his lips together, considering your words. Now that he thinks about it... no it's just you making the situation more than it is.
" .... How am I to know what she was thinking?" He said finally.
You rolled your eyes. "Well.." You asked after a while. "Did she try to express her gratitude in..any other way?"
"You're not gonna drop this, are you?"
"Are you kidding?"
"Of course you won't, you nosy little shit." He sighed. "She sent me a letter last monday."
You almost fell out of your chair. "You're telling me this now?!" You demanded. "What did she say?" Half of your body was practically on the desk, you were so leaning forward so much in excitement
"You're hopeless." He shook his head at the gleam in your eyes. "Not everything is drama. She only thanked me and asked if she could treat me to dinner some night."
It was how he said that with a straight face that got you. The lack of interest, the blank expressions, it all added up.
You sat back down in silence as you realized that he wasn't really trying to deny anything because he was flustered.
He simply had no fucking idea.
"Captain. Just..how dense are you?" You asked softly, almost in awe. How a man like him could be so clueless you had no idea.
"Watch your mouth, brat."
"No offence meant." You said casually, setting his irritated words aside, too invested to give a fuck. "But did you say yes?"
"To what?"
"The dinner proposal? What else?"
"Of course not." He looked surprised you even considered the idea. "Do you have any idea how busy I am? And it's annoying. She's acting as if I saved her life and now she owes me a life debt."
You internally sent words of sympathy to the unfortunate woman. Girlie couldn't have picked a worse person to flirt with.
"Oh poor her."
"What poor her?"
"Captain. Do you seriously...not realize that she..asked you out..?"
He stared at you for a few seconds, ears growing red. "Bullshit." He muttered.
It took every bit of your effort to hold back the laugher bubbling in you. It was already difficult enough to keep a straight face. He looked so embarrassed it was hilarious.
You wondered how many girls had ever flirted with him like this and he had no fucking idea, probably shook it off thinking they were just being nice. How many hearts has he broken without even realizing it?
"Well, was she pretty at least?"
He shot an incredulous look. "I can't even remember her name, and you think I memorized her face?"
"Huh. Fair enough."
A giggle escaped you despite your hard efforts to hide your amusement. That seemed to have embarrassed him more.
"Don't laugh. There's nothing funny here."
"Oh if only you knew exactly how hilarious it is." You grinned. "I'm like two seconds away from losing it."
"I will hit you if you don't stop laughing."
You pursed your lips, the corner of your mouths still quirking up.
"Captain."
"No." He cut you off. He was tired. He was embarrassed. He was flustered. He had zero desire left to talk with you and he was fully aware nothing that ever comes out of your mouth is pleasant.
But of course you ignored him.
"Have you ever even been on a date?"
He groaned, cursing internally. This is the last thing he wanted to talk about today.
"You have no sense of privacy." He hissed.
"No. I'm serious. Because that seems highly unlikely." You continued, yet again paying no mind to his pissed remarks.
"I'm too busy."
"Nah." You shook your head. "You're too clueless. You wouldn't be able to tell if someone likes you even if they held up a sign with huge red block letters spelling out the words 'I love you!'"
"Stop."
Yeah, you weren't sure how much longer you could hold that laugh back.
"You've never been on a date in this... I don't know, how old even are you– like twenty something years of your life?"
"I'm thirty. And no."
"Holy fuck, you're old." You exclaimed, caught off guard by the information. You knew he was older than you, just didn't think he was in thirties already. He looks so...young.
"No I'm not."
"Yes you are."
"It's not that old. I'm hardly a couple years older than you."
"Still old." You shrugged. "But damn, you're life's as dry as sandpaper."
"You do realize my life revolves around fighting titans? So excuse me if I didn't give romance a chance because I was too busy trying not to die." He mumbled.
You spluttered a cough trying to hide the sound of the laughter choking you. He had looked away when he said the words, but the tips of his ears were so, so red.
Never in your life have you seen him this flustered.
"Can you shut up now and let me work?"
"Aren't you charming?" You raised an eyebrow.
Then you paused.
"Say, captain, let me help you." You suddenly said. You couldn't resist the urge to fuck with him a little more. You'd be damned if you didn't.
"With... what?"
You grinned. "Dating. I could be your official love life assistant."
The reaction was exactly as you thought it'd be. His face was absolutely flushed.
"Fuck off."
"Now, that's just mean." You pretended to be offended. "Tip 1: you don't speak to ladies like that."
He stood up without saying a word, walking around the table and stopping besides you. Then with two fingers, he flicked your forehead. Hard.
"Ouch." You cursed under your breath, rubbing your temple and turning to look at him as he walked towards the door. "What was that for?"
"Youre insufferable." He said as he twisted open the door.
"Why thank you." You mumbled as he slammed the door shut behind him. "You're extremely lovable as well, beloved captain."
Levi leaned against the door, the corners of his mouth twitching up the slightest as he heard your laugher through the door.
Oh, but here's the the thing Levi hadn't told you.
That maybe, maybe, the reason he never even considered the approaches of the admirers, or even sometimes realize their intention wasn't because he was clueless. Maybe it's because he barely ever processes the words or the actions, think about it for a second for the situations to make sense.
That maybe, he had no intention to let anyone new in his life because he already had you. What more could he possibly want?
How could he? Not when you existed in his life, with your stupid face and your stupid voice and your stupid, stupid, stupid laugh.
Maybe, just maybe.
He doesn't notice faces much because yours never leave his mind.
