I'm glad you're back from your hiatus 😊 can I request an imagine where the female reader is secretly dating Bakugou, and one day while changing, the girls see a hickey on the reader's neck. At the same time, the guys see Bakugou's back covered in scratches. The class puts the pieces together and sets up a plan to catch them in the act. Sorry if it's too detailed or long though 🥺 your blog is awesome!
A/N: I'm glad to be back, babes! This is a really cool request and there's no such thing as an overly detailed request. I hope you enjoy it.
Pairing: Katsuki Bakugo x Fem!Reader
Form: One-Shot.
Warnings: Implied sex, harsh language (because its Bakugo we're dealing with here)
Left a Mark.
Katsuki is nothing short of a horny teenager when it came down to it. That was something you had to realize and understand. It was far from the first time he had left his mark on you, and it was safe to say it wouldn't be his last.
He was overall neutral to the idea of your relationship being secret, he was more happy to have you by his side then anything. People knowing that fact was an afterthought. But... The circumstances would become long forgotten when things would get hot and heavy between you two.
It was far from the first time you had to scold him for leaving a hickey on you, and it was safe to say it wouldn't be your last.
"Y/N!" Uraraka called out, her usual innocent tone unwavering.
"Hm?" You quickly looked at the girl who shouted your name, a small smile playing on your face. Everytime you look at her you get a reminder of Katsuki's crude nickname for her, 'Round-Face.' Crude, but certainly fitting.
"You have a hickey!" The smile quickly dropped and your cheeks warmed up like the sun was shining directly at them. It was hard to ignore the sudden feeling of so many eyes on you...
"Don't worry about it," You quickly dismissed, your eyes glued to the inside of your locker as you slipped on the rest of your gym uniform.
"I bet it was Shouto! I see the way you always look at him!" Mina teased and suddenly, the entire locker room erupted with your classmate's own assumptions on who had left the hickey on you....
"Yeah!! Get some, Baku-Bro!" Kirishima yelled out, in the locker room adjacent to the girls'. His voice echoed off the walls, only adding to the annoyance Katsuki got from him.
"Don't call me that, shitty hair!" Bakugo was quick to insult and refuse the "endearing" nickname his friend had to give before actually picking up on what he had to say.
The sudden and hard slap on his back was enough to get his attention and the overall ache it left was enough to get him to remember just what is on his back.
"Damn! The woman has a pair of claws on her! Who the lady?" Denki questioned with a borderline proud look on his face. He must be oblivious that he's truly rolling the dice with his life treating Bakugo this way.
"None of your damn business!!" Bakugo yelled, the majority of the males in the room were quick to mind their own business, but one more comment escaped someone's lips..
"Uraraka's nails have been getting kind of long, lately.."
Of course, the one and only Minoru Mineta would be stupid enough enough to make another comment while Bakugo was teeming with pure anger.
The girls and boys of 1A had exited the locker rooms practically at the same time, all choosing to selectively ignore the burning smell wafting off of Mineta and a small explosion sized hole in his uniform. They all stood in a scrambled bunch, all chatting amongst themselves. Honestly, it was no surprise that their teacher would be late to the class...
You stood beside Katsuki because its what felt natural. What neither of you knew is that you both were too embarrassed to even look at each other in the moment. Even after all the merciless teasing had ceased, the feeling of overall humility was yet so subside.
A thick wave of awkwardness surrounds you both, seemingly muting the gossiping whispers that actually centered around yourself and your hotheaded boyfriend..
"You guys won't believe it!" Mina excitedly whisper-yelled to the tightknit group of friends whom dubbed themselves the baku-squad. "Y/n had a hickey on her shoulder!"
"No way! Bakugo had scratch marks on his back right now," Denki responded, just as eager as Mina.
There was about three whole minutes of talking about who could've been the one who left the scratches and hickeys amongst the single-braincelled group of friends before the one voice of reason amongst the group spoke up.
"Guys, they left the marks of each other.." Sero finally explained, a disappointed tone hung from his words, he was truly waiting for when they would figure it out themselves but... Alas, it seemed as if he was the only one with a single problem solving cell is his body.
"Ohhhhhhh...." The three finally connected the dots before shifting their gaze to the pair standing next to each other. Did they always stand that close together, was a mutual thought between the group (and the answer was yes)
"Well are you sure its them? I had ending up betting on the hickey being from Shouto.." Mina mumbled, slightly upset. She wasn't against the idea of her two friends dating, more the fact that she lost a bet and had to treat a lot of people to food if Sero was right.
"Pretty sure," Sero exaggerated his words to create a sarcastic tone, but that only sounded like uncertainty to his friends.
"Well I actually bet on it being Y/n," Kirishima announced proudly. Through his slight bouts idiocracy at times, he knew his best friend well. "How are we gonna prove that its them, though?"
The question lead everyone to a similar solution.... Catch them in the act, of course. This group of kids were far from stealthy, but they were determined to make things work.
"Do you want to ditch these losers and head to my room?" Bakugo whispered into your ear, the warm breath paired with his low tone never failing to sense a shiver down your spine.
"Don't call our friends losers!" You whisper yelled, glancing at your closest friends who dotted across the dorm's kitchen. They were arguing over what food to eat when they studied, unknowing to the fact that yourself and Bakugo had already went over this subject together as a form of a date.
He rolled his eyes and straightened his posture from leaning down to your ear taking a half step away from you, assuming the reprimanding words overall meant a no.
"Hot chips are overrated!!" Denki yelled and you're first instinct was to glance towards your boyfriend, who was... Passionate about his hot food, to say the least.
"Fuck this!! You guys can fucking study on your own!" Katsuki already didn't want to be there, then Kaminari went and said some dumb shit.
But that wasn't the only fuel to his anger and when you get to know the hot headed boy, you can tell if what he says he's angry about is what he's angry about. Having been his partner for as long as you have, you could tell he wasn't storming away solely because Kami said he didn't like hot chips.
He was frustrated, so, so frustrated and sick of this "secret relationship."
He was thinking about his locker accident, way more than one would think he should be doing. Why couldn't he just answer the barrage of questions with a proud smirk? Were you not proud of him? Ashamed, even? Insecurity hit him like a fucking truck, and he couldn't even ask for a quick hug and words of comfort because.. Other people were around? It sounded stupid when really thought out, and he wish he did when you first asked for the relationship under wraps.
He took a sharp turn around and walked away, ignoring the pleas from the group of people who were far from academics, but you on the other hand were more concerned about Bakugo himself.
"Don't worry guys, I got him," You had mumbled to your friends before quickly scurrying away to follow him.
The plan was going good so far, since you two did separate from the group, not exactly on such negative pretenses but.. That was the goal.
"Bakugo!" You called to get no response, just him continuing forward in the direction of his dorm room.
"Bakugo, slow down!" Did he... Did he just start walking faster?
"Katsuki!" You yelled once you got to the hall his dorm was on, he finally stopped. "Tell me what's wrong."
He quickly turned to you, an unreadable emotion plastered on his face, the only thing that could be deciphered is that it certainly wasn't happy.
"Do you a-fucking-shamed of me or something?!" He yelled, his voice cracking along with your heart. It didn't take much thought to figure out he was upset about the current state of the relationship. Even though you thought you had gotten used to with his sudden yelling, you couldn't stop yourself from flinching away from the sudden harsh-sounding words.
"Katsu, of course I'm not. I'm so sorry for making you believe otherwise," You began what you meant to be a comforting speech but the blonde didn't let you continue.
"Then why the hell can't anyone know we're together, huh?! Why-" His angry yelling came to a halt when you put both hands on either side of his face. The feeling of your soft touch almoat instantly calmed him down.
"Look at me," You demanded, his red hues bore into yours, they were progressively getting softer by the second. "The only reason I asked for our relationship to be in secret is because I wanted to keep our love between us. You're my boyfriend no matter how many people know. I'll never be ashamed of you, I love you, K-"
A rushed, greedy kiss came from the slamming of Bakugo's lips onto yours, because in the end he is just a horny teenager who has a bad problem of not letting you finish your sentences.
"I told you!! I know my bro the best!" The kiss was quickly separated by both parties as Kirishima's voice pipes up, his volume never failing to surprise.
"Wh-What are you guys here for?!" Your stomach twisted with embarrassment, having been caught in the act of kissing Bakugo by your entire group of friends that stood at the end of the hallway.
"They saw the hickey and scratch marks you two left on each other and wanted to see if you both really were the ones who placed their mark on each other.." Sero mumbled out an explanation that you could barely pick up over Mina and Denki's own conversation about how much they loss betting that another person was "with" their friend.
"Well now they know.." After listening to the entertaining complains from Denki and Mina you spoke at a soft level only the boy beside you could hear, a fond smile placed gently upon your face. You don't think that letting other people in on the relation ship would be the worst thing.
"Maybe I should leave more hickeys on you, then.." A sly tone slipping out a mischievous smile.
"Katsuki!!"

Burnt Chocolate Kisses
"Samu." I sat my box down and rushed to meet him at the door. Rice was scattered across his hair and chest, not to mention there was a small patch on his cheek. His eyes were barely open, movements slow, as he took off his shoes. "I told you to let me help at the store today." "Be glad you didn't." He stepped up from the genkan and slumped into my arms. "One couple tossed their food at the cashier. Instinct kicked it, and I spiked it across the store. I'm going to be collecting those free onigiri vouchers for the next three months." "Valentine's day is about being with your loved ones and sharing a romantic evening. Yet, there's always an idiot or two who like to ruin the day for everyone. I'm sorry it was hell today." Rocking him lightly, we slowly edged our way to the kitchen. Part of the reason I stayed home today was so I could cook him a magical dinner. But my day hadn't gone to plan either. "Why do I smell smoke?" Finding some energy, he moved past me and ran to the oven. Opening the door, the last billows of smoke rose up and out. "(Y/n); what happened? Are you okay?" Grabbing a towel, he fanned the air away from the smoke detector and glanced at my hands. There were few people in this world who'd be more interested in my well being than their stove in shambles. "No burns this time." I laughed, gritting my teeth. The air was thick, my throat closing up. "I guess I did surprise you; there's just nothing to eat…" Inside the oven was a charred goose. We had watched someone cook a goose on Master Chef, and we had wanted to try it for a few months. He held his forehead and turned his back to me, getting the bird into the trash. "So, um, are you going to cook my goose over this?" My voice cracked, but I couldn't stop the joke from slipping out.
He giggled to my relief. Osamu was a wonderful boyfriend; of course, we had some fights, but he never let it get out of hand. Though it was a different story between him and his twin. Atsumu always used me as a human shield from his brother during fights, and it worked every time. Osamu wouldn't risk hurting me, no matter how much he wanted to strangle his brother. "Nice pun, baby." Coming back to reality, I jumped up, sitting on the counter. "Well, I wanted to make today special. But I think we both just want to try again tomorrow." I leaned my head against the cabinets. Soot had stained the ceilings and coated the light fixtures. To say I almost burned the house down was an understatement. Thankfully, 'Samu told me that if there was a fire in the oven, to just let it smother out by keeping the door shut. "We have a history of celebrating the 15th, ya know." He slotted between my legs and pressed his soft stomach against mine. "We'll get our half-price teddy bears and snacks, walk around the park, maybe go to the arcade. Or." "Or what?" Stealing a kiss, I tapped his nose. "We just do what we did for our first valentines." He slowly kissed up my throat, nibbling here or there. "No. Th-that doesn't count!" Blood rushed to my head, his hands ghosting up and down my back. "You can't sweet talk me into this. That was three years ago, and I didn't get to tell you how I felt. Plus, it was after midnight, so it doesn't count. Now, if you want to go skating like our first real valentines, I will." "I'm not sweet talkin'," he bit down on my favorite spot, my hand anchoring in his hair. "Come on, it's nothin' scandalous. But if I have to keep persuading you, it might take a sloppy turn. I'm too tired to be any count tonight." "I'm exhausted too." Pulling apart, his eyes sparkled, waiting for my reply. "Alright, let's do it." I jumped down and started to get my warm clothes on. "I'll make it up to you, for last time. Though this might tire us out more than we remember." "Let's do it." He grabbed a quick snack and went to the bedroom to get changed. "It'll be fun." Hollering back at me, he poked his head out the door, and I could catch a peek at his chest, my chest fluttering.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Flashback
"So you burnt 'em?" Atsumu held the obligation chocolates to the street light. "You skipped class to cook all day, and this is what you made?" "Thank you (L/n), they'll make a nice paperweight." Suna snickered, placing the pink heart bag in his pocket. It was Valentine's day, and the three of us were waiting for Osamu to join us for the festival. "Oi, (Y/n). Tell me you didn't burn your hommi cocos for my brother." Atsumu poked the bulge in my bag. "I'm going to wait for next year. There's no way I can confess with these." Gripping the side of my bag, I swallowed hard. "No matter how many times I tried, it just… didn't turn out. Hey, wait. How the hell did you know that Osamu's were hommi cocos?" I gripped Atsumu by his collar. "It's not hard to tell. You keep sneaking away from your club to watch us practice. Not to mention, you've been up each other's ass the past three years of school. It's only a matter of time before one of you does something about it." Suna snuck out one of his chocolates and took a chase bite. His eyes bugged, this throat struggling to swallow the charred candy. "Damn it." I stomped my foot. A dust cloud formed, sweeping through the crowd of people around us. The weather had been dry for a while; there was a debate on whether it was safe or not to have a fireworks display this year. That's when I was going to give Samu his candy, but things weren't really working out. "I guess there's next year. Maybe we'll go to the same college?" "What about next year?" "Ahh, nothing." Twirling on my heels, Osamu was right behind me. Our shoulder's bumped when I turned; his hands steadied me. There were lots of thoughts racing through my head, but I couldn't help but notice how handsome he was, the star's reflecting in his eyes. "Sorry, I'm late." He smoothed the wrinkles on my sleeves and smiled. "Now, what are we planning for next year? A date without these two idiots?" "I resent that." Suna looked towards the food booths. "(Y/n) would rather it just be us, right?" Atsumu pulled me into his arms, pressing my head against his chest. "Cut it out." I wriggled in his hold. "I'm the superior twin by far. Who wants to spend time with a loser like Samu, when I'm right here?" "Let them go, Tsumu." Osamu's voice was even. I was surprised he wasn't trying to lunge around me to hit his brother. "She even gave me and Suna coco's, isn't that right (Y/n)?" "She did." Suna agreed, egging them on. "What's wrong with you?" I finally broke free. "Why are you trying to start a fight?" Atsumu grinned like a fox, holding up the candy I made him. When I looked at Osamu, he seemed crestfallen. The two fought all the time. Why was he so hurt this time? I had made him candy…it just wasn't good enough. "Just say it (Y/n). I know you want to." Atsumu pushed me towards his brother. "Tell him how you really feel." "Enough, Atsumu." I dug in my heels. "Can't you just let us have a good night? This is the last Valentine's we're going to have- Oh my god, Rintaro Suna. Put that god damn camera away." Tugging my hair, I noticed a crowd has started to form. Shaking, I hid my face in my hands. "I can't believe you two." "Come one (Y/n)," Osamu took my hand, breaking the crowd so we could pass. "Let's do what we always do." "Ditch our friends and stuff our face?" I sniffled, clutching onto his kimono. "Of course." We stopped in front of a booth selling sweets. "I'm really sorry about the things that were said." I played with the strings hanging from my outfit. "Let's just focus on making happy memories now. Like you said, this could be our last chance to do this again." He stepped closer to me, tucking me under his arm as a large group passed us. There wasn't much of a line, and in a few minutes, it was our turn. My eyes were glued to the apples, and Samu noticed. "Two candy apples, please." "Here." I tried to pass him some cash. He pushed it back into my palm and handed me the apple. "It's my treat today." "It's your treat every day." A pout settled on my lips until I dug into the apple. The red candy coating crunched, and the sweet juice rushed into my mouth. "Hmm, this is good. We should try to make some of these next weekends." "We should. Let's make it a date." He grabbed my hand, walking towards the line for the next booth, which was selling ticker fish. Diving through the people, my heart was nestled in my throat. "You shouldn't sound so casual, or I'll get the wrong idea." Someone stepped back, and I tripped over their foot. My candy apple went flying, and my arms failed for any support. Osamu caught my upper half and eased me into a squat before I crashed. Popping back up, I apologized to the man, and he went on his way. "You okay." Samu dusted off my dress and examined my knees for any stress. "Thanks to you, I'm fine." I looked at my candy apple, crusted with dirt. "But my apple isn't." The line was moving fast, so I nudged him forward. "Seams like today has been nothing but bad luck for me." "Is that so? Why?" He ordered the fish, a few drinks and some grilled chicken too. As the food was being prepared, he handed me his apple. We shared food all the time, this was no different, but something was off. His fingers brushed mine when he handed it off. Sure the stick was hard to balance, but this was…so soft. Osamu grabbed the food and re-entered the crowd. "Well, I-." Pushing my shoulder's back, I bit into his apple and collected my thoughts. We veered off the path with our dinner and find a quiet place to sit and eat. "I was making hommi cocos for someone special, and they burned…multiple times." I plopped down on the grass and took another bite of the apple. "So Atsumu was lying." Osamu showed me his phone. Atsumu had texted him a picture of the obligation chocolates I made him. "Yup, he just wanted to upset you." The fire flies lit up the sky as our eyes adjusted to the dark. A breeze filtered through the area, and I scooted closer to Samu for warmth. "So you were making the hommi cocos for me?" He held out a piece of fish for me, and I used my teeth to pull it off the stick. "Like I said, today's been terrible." I curled into my knees. "I can't share my true feelings with burnt chocolate." "I see." He looked at his watch then the sky. "The fireworks about to start. Which means it's almost midnight." He reached over and took another bite of his apple. "We can just wait till then." "It won't count if we wait, though." I realized that I was basically admitting my crush then and there, but there was no point in pretending now. "Our feelings will be the same today and tomorrow." He reached into his bag. "I made these for you." "Sumu." It was a box of cocos; they were wrapped in pink ribbons and had special frosting with my name. "You, put so much effort into this, I. I defiantly can't show you what I made." Fireworks went off in the sky above, raining down red and pink sparkles. They illuminated his eyes, making them glow almost. His face was inches from mine, our breath shared. "They are hommi cocos. I couldn't wait for white day. I didn't know for sure if you returned my feelings, so just in case, I made these for you. I really like you (Y/n), please, be mine?" "I don't know what to say. I had all these things planned, but I'm lost for words." I pulled back, handing him the box. "These aren't good enough to express my feelings, but I want you to know I tried." Having killed the moment, I wanted to kick my own ass for pulling away. "You skipped class to make these?" he asked, popping one in his mouth. "I did. Feel free to rub in how bad they taste." I laughed, wiping the sweat from my brow. "They're perfect." He leaned forward again, but not as far. I met him halfway, our lips touching in a feathery test.
"Mm, that is so much better without the taste of burnt chocolates." I slid off his lap and onto the blanket beside us. We had gone to a festival and got the same dishes as before. The firework show was about to start, and we finally were alone.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Present "It was cute. You put some much effort into them that all I tasted was your love." He grabbed my chin, pulling me in for another kiss. "My love and scorched caramel." Leaning against his chest, I looked at the sky, the first firework going up. "I'm glad you were braver than I was back then." "As much as Atsumu pissed me off, I'm glad he tried to push together." A loud boom spoked me, of the fireworks bigger than usual. It made a giant red heart. "He sped things up for sure. Thinking back on the day, there were a lot of disasters, but it was all worth it. Because I got to find the love of my life." I laced our fingers together. "I wish for us to always be together." "We will; no need to wish for it." He kissed my knuckles, his knee knocking down the stick from our food. "Thank you for working so hard today." "Well, burning stuff is my love language." I giggled, and we curled deeper into each other. "I love you (Y/n)." He closed his eyes, starting to drift off. After a hard day's work, he needed a little rest. Considering how hard he fought it to spend time with me today, I could let him use me as a pillow.

BTS 8th Member - Your Friends
Best Friends: Kim Hanbin (B.I from Ikon. (Pretend he’s still in Ikon and YG didn’t snake one of their best artists.) Your mothers are best friends and so when you moved to Korea, he was the only person you knew so you clung to each other. He was also one of your best friends through high school. He is your best friend and you both have always been there for each other. The both of you tried alcohol for the first time together, which you stole from his father’s liquor cabinet. Were there for each other’s first relationships and first heartbreaks. You were there for his parents’ divorce at 12 (I made this up idk if it’s true). You ditched classes and went to go sit on the roof of your apartment building to talk about your futures together. His aspirations for music and yours to live peacefully. In your friendship group he is the grandfather that clings to his youth. He hates any physical activities other than mountain hiking but loves going on nights out. You both even got matching tattoos as soon as it was legal, and it will be explained later. “You can’t push me away Y/N! So, get angry, scream and shout but I’m not going anywhere! I’m your best friend that shit doesn’t work on me!”) Park Shinhye (Despite your age difference you two are best friends, you consider each other sisters. Grew close because you both work in the entertainment industry but both don’t have girls around you, you by being in BTS and her by being an actress so when you both met at an award show soon after BTS debuted you clicked. You both were there for each other threw everything. She’s one of your best friends and you often have movie nights when you’re both free. She cried for you when BTS won a daesang for the first time, that moment went viral. BTS walked off the stage, and were still visible by fans but near backstage, and you two ran at each other like dramatic losers as she was crying more than you were and you were both shouting at each other to stop crying while continuing to hug. Fans love that moment and your friendship. She often states that you are her best friend both in this industry and in life. “I never really thought it was possible to connect to someone like that. But I honestly think that in another life we were sisters.”) Min Sooah (Best friend from high school is your secretary, for now, and is one of your pillars. You would not be able to function without her. There’s an ongoing joke that she is basically your mother, you worry her to no end. She is very grateful to you. After her father broke his hip and was not able to continue working, she had to drop out of university to go to work. You gave her the job as your secretary despite her not being qualified. You needed someone you trusted, and you knew she would work hard. Now she is one of the most important people in your company. She is the Dad of the group always complaining about how “I gave up my youth to look after you brats and none of you have time to spend with me? Okay I see how it is. Daehyun this is your influence on them!”) Ok Hwayoung (Best friend from high school now she is your personal shopper. After university she became a personal shopper, and you thanked the sky’s because she chooses all of your clothes to pack when traveling or when you have formal business meetings. You like buying clothes but you hate the process of shopping and trying things on, so you tell her what pieces you want, and she’ll get it. She also organises your wardrobe ‘cause she’s OCD like that. She also is a hopeless romantic and is constantly trying to talk you and Hangyeol into giving up your partying lifestyle because, “How are we supposed to have a group wedding if you don’t let yourselves find the ones you idiots?!”) Lee Hangyeol (Best friend from high school he owns a mechanics and auto repair shop and he is the only one you trust with you cars. He is also the only one of your best friends who encourages you attitude towards your love life as he is also not into committed relationships. You're both each other’s wingmen. You guys are basically the epitome of lads’ lads when around each other. You’re the loud, annoying people in a bar gassing each other up to chug your drinks down. Whenever one wants to go on a night out the other is always down. “Who needs a relationship? Tequila is just as good. Gives me a fun night and then when the fun wears off it give me a headache and regrets. That’s basically a relationship.”) Tae Daehyun (Best friend from high school he works as a pd on tv shows mainly running man. He was also on the track team back in high school. The two of you often go out on runs together. After seeing what the industry is like behind the camera, he worries a lot for you. Especially since he knows no matter how crappy you feel you’d rather down the nearest bottle of alcohol than talk about it. So, he always tries to let you know if you need to talk, he’s there. Also hates how much you and Hangyeol drink and always tries to make sure you guys eat a proper meal before going out and drinking. He’s also the one in your friend group who can be bothered to cook, he got so offended when he found out you hired a personal chef but then he tasted her food and is okay with it. He’s the Mum of the group. “What the hell is wrong with you all? You can’t throw a knife at the apple on his his head! Are you crazy? See this is what I have to deal with Sooah. But if you weren’t so busy working, you’d know that!”) Ryeo Chungae (Best friend from high school and she works on the public relations for your company. When she first joined your company, she always felt like she got the job because she’s your friend, but you wouldn’t have given her the job if you didn’t think she could do it. She went through a hard time when her boyfriend cheated on her with her old boss. Instead of being scared of falling in love again she wants love. Trying to convince you and Hangyeol that it’s is amazing when secretly she is glad that you won’t be able to get hurt. She is a pushover in all aspects of life except for work. When it comes to work, she is a force to be reckoned with. So instead of staying at her old job with her boss she resigned after making a scene about the boss sleeping with her boyfriend which got said boss fired. When she is with all of your friends, she is also very outspoken and opinionated. However, when it comes to people she isn’t comfortable with her anxiety acts up. You and all your friends are protective of her in situations where her anxiety gets bad. Her ideal life is a Hallmark movie. “One day I’m gunna meet the man of my dreams. He’s gunna be tall and handsome and most importantly he’ll take me away from all of you dumbass motherfuckers.”) Hak Daeho (Best friend from high school he works at Songsun’s shop as and is in charge of customising cars. He is the one that never wants to go out and always wants to stay home. He prefers a night in with his friends than at some stupid club where Y/N and Hangyeol ditch a half hour after arriving, most of the time. He doesn’t have the best relationship with his family after they found out he didn’t want to become a lawyer like his parents and siblings. His parents kicked him out and cut him off. Y/N payed for his college tuition even though he protested, you just said it was a loan and that he can pay you back someday. However, after he had been able to save up to pay you back you told him to shut up and buy a damn apartment which is what he did. Thanking the universes for his friends. He stayed in an apartment with Hwayoung, Daehyun and Chungae during college and no matter how many times he couldn’t pay rent his friends always had his back. It also helped that every time you visited you stocked the fridge and freezer. He thinks of you all as family more than he does of his own family. “You guys are a bunch of fucking idiots. Like you’re my family but damn you guys are stupid.”) Park Soomi (Best friend from high school. She is the most subscribed to female Korean youtuber with 11 million subscribers. She is also and ambassador for Jeonsa cosmetics although at first, she didn’t want to be as she felt like it would be using her friendship with you to her advantage. However, after you convinced her to accept, she did. You also knew that you could trust her since she has always been honest with you and never expects anything from you. You also knew that she would be advantageous for your company so it’s not like you’re just giving her money your promoting your company through her brand. After you explained this she reluctantly agreed. She is the loud, chaotic crackhead of the group. Constantly doing dumb shit. “Hey guys my pineapple was being difficult long story short we no longer have a microwave.”) Im Kyungmin (Best friend from high school, he is a part of Soul & Bones, a hip-hop and house dance crew. When you were younger all of your friends would go to his contests. Everything you learned about dancing you learned from watching that crew. You always loved the way their dancing looked and the atmosphere they created. But you were realistic with your situation knowing you’d never get to dance. When Bang pd wanted you to be a trainee you were hesitant, but he practically dragged you to that audition. And during trainee days he helped you with your dancing. He says your better than him now, but you know you’re not. Soon after you became a billionaire Soul & Bones were set to end. Their investor pulled out and most dance crews are under entertainment companies unlike soul & Bones. Kyungmin was devastated, Soul & Bones was his whole life. So, when you decided to fund it he was conflicted. On one hand he was thankful and on the other hand he was guilty. But after you told him what the crew meant to you, how you were also friends with everyone else in the crew and couldn’t let it end when you could do something about it he was on board. You however made it clear you don’t own Soul & Bones you just pay for things. Now it is considered the best hip-hop dance crew in Korea and one of the best in the world. He is the one in your group who seems high most of the time but isn’t. “I think that pizza is thinking shit about me... I’m gunna eat it not ‘cause I want to but because it needs to die!”) Close Friends: Mark Tuan (You met at a BTS and Got7 collaboration for and you both clicked immediately because you were both from western countries, you were both raised in similar cultures so you had become close friends easily. It is also less lonely when you both miss your home countries if you’re around each other. It was surprising because your personalities are the opposite, but you bring him out of his shell. Whenever you guys meet you always speak in English and it’s a relief for both of you since it is your first language no matter how long you’re in Korea. You both also relate on how different your home countries’ standards are compared to Korea in terms of public image, behaviour and many other things. It’s very easy to be your true selves around each other. ) Choi Youngjae (You guys are the same age so you clicked easily. Even though you’re closer to Mark you’re still close to Youngjae. The guy is literal sunshine it hard not to like him. There is also a group of idols born in 1996 who he is a part of.) BTS and Got7 are both close to each other so you are friendly with all the members. But you are the closest with Mark. Woo Jiho (Zico. You both met when BTS and Block B did a collaboration at mama. Namjoon and him knew each other but they weren’t that close, so it was unexpected when you and he hit it off. You are both close friends and hang out when you can. He often asks for your opinion with his music and the two of you once spent an entire night just messing around in the studio. He says that you are one of the only people to get him to take a break, when he’s in work mode, and to have some fun. Clubbing isn’t really his scene so you and Jaemin often have to beg him to go out drinking with you guys. He used to have feelings for you but after some time in the friendzone he realised he is okay with you not having feelings for him as long as you are in his life. No one knows about the feelings he had for you.) Lee Jaemin (A YouTuber who has 7 million subscribers. The two of you met through Jiho and got along very well because you both like alcohol and clubbing. However, he maintains a clean public image, so your company is fine with you being seen in public together. Your members aren’t very fond of him since the time he showed up at the dorm drunk looking for you and threw up in a plant. They think he is a bad influence, but you know what he was going through and know he’s a good person. He feels like he can be himself around you without feeling judged. Yoongi really hates him and the friendship you two have.) Kang Yujin (She is an Instagram model who has 18 million followers and 2 million subscribers on YouTube. She met you and Jiho through Jaemin. However, once the public found out about your friendship many thought she was using you in order to work with Jeonsa cosmetics. But you knew this wasn’t true. Yujin was the kind of person to drive to McDonald's for you at three in the morning when you had a nightmare about your father and wouldn’t tell her what it was about. The kind of person to kill spiders for you even though she’s scared of bugs too. And due to the public’s reaction, she was scared you would end up thinking the same of her. You told her how you knew what kind of person she was and in order to make a statement to the public you both posted a photo together on her Instagram announcing her endorsing your company. She is a very close friend and an older sister figure to you.) You, Zico, Jaemin and Yujin often go bowling together or go out to eat and are also drinking buddies you are very close to them. The four of you are often spotted in public together. Kang Seungyoon (You both met through Hanbin and both of your personalities go very well together. Musically you both also mesh very well together. You both also often play pool together and he gets triggered at how he’s played longer but you kick his ass at it. Whenever you both have the time you go out for food and drinks and spend all nigh playing pool and all night, he complains that you’re a cheater and he won’t stand for it. He’s a very good friend.) Kim Jisoo (You met her first, soon after they debuted, in the bathroom. The two of you clicked and then you met the rest of the group through her. It was easy to become friends with them due to BTS and Blackpink both being at the top of K-pop, so you were a lot more understanding of each other’s situations. She is a very close friend of yours and is an older sister figure to you. She always gets excited when you send her the new launches of Jeonsa cosmetics and does vlives talking about it.) Kim Jennie (Despite Jennie being introverted you charmed her during your first conversation. She found it very easy to talk to you despite being slightly nervous and you were her sunbae. She was surprised how easy it was to talk to you. You are a people person, and she is not so like most other extroverts she’s met she thought you would clash but surprisingly your personalities match very well. You bring out the fun in her.) Lalisa Manobal (Lisa. She looks up to you a lot in terms of your dancing. She is very clingy towards you when you meet, and you love her crackhead energy. You learnt to speak Thai early after BTS’ debut, this made Lisa feel like she could connect to you on a deeper level. You have also helped her with the racist side of K-pop, her being Thai and you being half Arabic you’re both no stranger to how harsh netizens are. As you have been going through it for longer than her you are able to comfort her (kind of because you’re emotionally stupid but you try and push that aside for your friend).) Park Chaeyoung (Rose. She was also born in a western country so when she met you it helped her feel less homesick. You both often talk about childhood TV shows together and relate to each other when people talk about Korean things from their childhood that you have no idea about. Even though you’re from different places it’s nice having someone who understands the difficulties of moving from western culture to eastern.) Kwon Jiyong (Gdragon. You guys met backstage at an award show when BTS and Bigbang met. The groups are casual with each other, but you and he became very close especially because you’re friends with many YG artists. You also both like to party a lot and often go out together. He views you as a very close friend and is often nagging at you to eat and rest properly You try and hang out whenever you both have time.) Matthew Kim (BM. You two met during an inkigayo. He got lost and was swearing in English. So, you approached him and asked in English if he was okay. You helped him find his way back to his dressing room. He knew who you were and that you were British as BTS was well known then. However, he was expecting you to be arrogant and was pleasantly surprised with how nice you were. You and he got along well as you have similar personalities. Both extroverted. The two of you also quickly found out about your shared love of partying and clubbing and now you often go out together.) Peniel Shin, Ashley Choi, Amber Liu, Stephanie Young Hwang (These are some of your other western born K-pop friends.) Red velvet (You are good friends with the group mainly Joy as you are the same age. You, them and Blackpink try to go out together when you can. Irene is also very protective over you and sees you like a little sister.) Park Chanyeol (You have very similar attitudes you were good acquaintances but then you both worked together on the Goblin ost (Pretend it was you instead of Punch p.s I love that song so fucking much.) He always tries convincing you to let him drive your cars and you always say no. He’s a very fun person and you guys have a good laugh together.) You’re friendly with the rest of the Exo members but the closest to Chanyeol. Your best friends are: Hanbin, Shinhye, and all of your friends from high school. However, you are still close with the rest of your friends.

Cherry (Katrina Stuart Imagine)
Summary: Based on the song Cherry by Harry Styles. You can listen to the song before, after, or while reading.
Don't you call him "baby" We're not talking lately Don't you call him what you used to call me
Note: *I originally wrote this story to be from a female point of view, but I left the pronouns/description vague so any guy, girl, or nonbinary reader can be comfortable* (I’m bi and one of the times I was listening to this song and thought that the narrative of a wlw relationship where one of the woman tried to hide this part of herself would make the already emotional song even more emotional. But I also didn’t want exclude anyone from reading this narrative.)

I scan the party, looking for at least one of my friends. I don’t know why I even come to these things anymore with them. Every party in LA is the same. We’re at some influencer’s house, the lights are off, some strange led light is on to give the party a vibe, and the trashy music is too loud. The music isn’t too trashy. The self-proclaimed DJ, which always happens to be another influencer, just plays the top 40s with occasional remixes. My friends and I always go together, but as soon as we cross the threshold into the party, we go our separate ways. Those of us who are in a relationship take their significant other and find a corner to sit at for the rest of the night. Some of us who are single go find someone to hook up with and possibly start a relationship. The rest of us who are single, and prefer life that way, go look for the nearest bottle of alcohol and proceed to get as fucked up as they can before one of us finds them to drag them home. And then there’s me, the somewhat responsible one of the group. Single and not looking to mingle. I drink enough so I don’t get too drunk but don’t look like a loser. I’m the one that has to grab all of my friends by the end of the night and make sure they get on an uber home. I always take the drunkest friend home, which almost always happens to be my roommate, just to make sure they don’t die choking on their own vomit.
I wasn’t always like this, I was more fun. A few months ago I would have been like my couple friends in my group. I would have ditched the rest of my friends to find some private section of the party so I could just be alone with the one I love. With her. But that ended just as quickly and suddenly as it began. And I know she’s moved on, she’s with someone else. Well, back with someone else. The only reason I cleaned up my act is so that when I go to these parties, I don’t look like a complete mess on the off chance I see her and her friends. I know she goes to these parties.
Her friend group is just like mine when it comes to parties, they have to be at every single one. They used to be my friends too. That brief time we were together, we almost always hung out with them when we weren’t hanging out at one of our places. They didn’t even know we were together. Maybe they did, but they didn’t pry. They knew she had just broken up with her longterm boyfriend before we started hanging out, and they were still friends with him. She first introduced me as her friend. Which is fine, we were basically friends, we just did more than what just friends do. When she told me that she “couldn’t do this anymore” I understood. This was too new for her. I was too new for her. But, when I found out that she had gotten back with her ex, on social media no less, it broke me. Because she meant she couldn’t do it anymore, with me.
For a few weeks, I became isolated from everyone. I stopped hanging out with her friends, I barely hung out with my friends. They only time they would see me was when they invited me to parties. Then I would become like one of my irresponsible friends who got blackout drunk just to numb the pain of losing her. Out of nowhere, I snapped out of it. I unfollowed her on everything, deleted her number, and filled my life with distractions. And for a while, everything has been fine. I keep an eye for her at parties to avoid her. Every time I see a girl with the slightest tint of blue in her hair, I turn the other way. It’s annoying when nearly every girl in LA has some sort of blue in her hair.
But then there are still moments like this where, out of the corner of my eye, I see one of her friends. And normally, they are either too busy doing something stupid to notice me or I run away before they can see me. However this time, by the time I register anything, it’s too late. One of them’s spotted me and came up to me.
“Hey, Y/N, long time no talk!” Colby tries to talk loudly over the music. He goes in for a quick and I carefully hug him back.
“Hey, Colby, how have you been?” Out of all of her friends, I got the closest to Colby. Which is strange considering that his best friend is dating her. Colby was also the only I knew for sure that knew about the two of us. He walked in on us at a party one time. I knew he wouldn’t say anything, but that’s when she freaked and ended things.
“Want to go somewhere quieter?” He whispers in my ear. I can smell the alcohol on him.
I nod yes and Colby grabs my hand and leads me out of the party so we don’t get separated. We end up in the front yard, where there is barely anyone. Colby lets go of my hand and I follow him to a little couch. I sit next to him, finish the drink in my cup, and start to twist the ring on my finger. It’s her’s. When she was taking the things she left at my place out of my room, she left it on my dresser when I would see. I like to think she left it for me on purpose. Like an “I’m sorry that I was ashamed of our entire relationship and I broke up with you to go back with my ex” apology gift. I wear it every day as a reminder; like I have a little piece of her.
“I know we talk every once in a while, but I haven’t seen you in ages. How have you been?” Colby asks breaking the silence.
“You know, life is okay. Could be better, but it’s fine. I’ve been working on my music and all that. What about you?”
“Everything is great. Work is doing well. I’m glad I ran into you actually. I’m pretty sure they were going to ice me and you know I hate that shit.” Colby laughs and out of politeness, I laugh too.
“You guys were always the life of the party.” I hate to admit it, but I like hanging out with her friends more than I do my friends. They’re more like a family, they’re always together, even at parties. I miss them.
“You should come hang out with us sometime.”
“Yeah, I would love to,” I say, but we both know I can’t.
“She’s here you know,” Colby says what we both were thinking. Of course, she’s here’s. Wherever her friends go, she follows.
“I had a feeling. If I wanted to avoid her completely I would stop coming to parties or move out of Los Angles completely.” We sit in silence staring at a group of friends doing something stupid for a camera.
And just like she could sense that we were talking about her, I hear her laugh. I make the mistake of looking and watch her come out of the house with him. They’re talking and laughing about something that must have happened inside. She stops when we lock eyes.
“Oh fuck,” I mutter under my breath. I feel Colby move beside me.
“Hey, Sam, Kat,” Colby says waving.
“Oh hey, we just came out to get some air. Devyn and Tara are looking for you inside, Colby. Something about you escaping?” Sam says. He looks between us like he interrupted something. I never officially met Sam. Everything I knew about him was through social media post and from hearing his friends talk about him.
“Fine, but if I have to go down, you’re going down with me, Sam. Let’s go.” Colby gets up and squeezes my shoulder as a sign. I know what he’s doing, he’s hoping that Kat and I will talk and get over this. Colby hates conflict and drama, which is why he is one of the few people who still talk to me.
“Oh, baby, wait,” Kat grabs Sam’s arm and whispers something. Before she leaves she hesitantly kisses him on the cheek like she doesn’t know if she should do it in front of me.
I wish she wouldn’t call him “baby.” That’s what she use to call me. And for a second, when the words left her lips, my heart skipped a beat because I thought they were for me. But they weren’t so it’s killing me.
“Y/N?” Kat asks softly. God, I missed hearing her say my name. And her accent, it still makes my heart flutter. I miss it all so fucking much it hurts.
“Yes, Katrina?” I can’t let her know how much she hurt me, or how much I still want her in my life.
“I feel bad about how I left things. When we got together, I wasn’t in the right headspace and it wasn’t right for me to take advantage of your openness and love just so I could stop feeling like shit. I’m sorry.”
I want to scream at her that I was in love with her. That I’m still in love with her. That I risked every personal rule I had about dating someone in LA just so I could be with her. But I can’t. I can’t because there is a part of me that knows that she was in love with me too. Or at least, she was falling in love with me. We were together for 6 out of the 7 months she was broken up with Sam. Every aspect of our relationship was new for her. I want to scream and shake her and tell her that it wasn’t a phase. You can’t fake that sort of emotion during a phase.
“I get it, you don’t have to keep apologizing. I’ll admit, I can tell that you’re at your best. That you’re happier with Sam than you ever were with me. I’ll also admit that I’m selfish so I hate that you’re at your best and I’m not the one at your side. But I’ll get over it eventually. It’ll just take more time for me to get over you than you getting over me.” I pat Kat’s knee before getting up and heading back into the party. My hand rests on the doorknob and I turn back to look at Kat. She’s looking down at her knee, gently touching where I touched.
“Kat?” I ask gently. She jumps up and stares at me.
“Yes, Y/N?” She responds softly.
“Does he take you walking around his favorite gallery?” Out of context, this seems like a random question. But I know that Kat knows what I mean, or I at least I hope she remembers.
Kat looks at me hard for a second, and then her expression softens. She looks away quickly. Her silence is a loud enough answer for me. I look down before throwing myself back into the party.

Give ‘Em Hell, Kid (1/1)
to: @bookplush merry christmas annabel!!
summary: Meg needs a shopping buddy. Nico wants nothing to do with this.
word count: 1,756
read on ao3
With many of the campers away for the holiday season, camp was looking even more empty than usual. For the first time in months, Nico wasn’t the only one that had to sit alone at his breakfast table, though that didn’t make it any less lonely.
He was about to clean up and move on to the arena when somebody sat down across from him.
“You must be a pretty big loser to be sitting here all by yourself,” Meg told him, getting comfortable.
Nico raised an eyebrow, choosing not to point out the other scarce tables nearby. “You must be a pretty big loser to be sitting across from me right now.”
Meg’s eyes narrowed behind her glasses. “Touche.” She tilted her head curiously. “You know, I think this might be the first time I’ve ever seen you without that blond kid that smells like antiseptic attached to your hip.”
Nico frowned. “You mean...Will? My boyfriend?”
“Sure. Where’s he at?”
“Visiting his mom for the holidays.”
“Do you celebrate?”
“What?”
“The holidays.”
Nico rolled his eyes. “Which one?”
“That’s what I’m asking. So, what is it? Solstice? Christmas? Hanukkah? Or, uh. Another one?”
“Christmas.”
“Really?” Meg wrinkled her nose. “But you’re Pagan.”
“No, I’m Catholic.”
“Your dad is Hades.”
“Okay, fine. Pagan and Catholic.” When Meg gave him a weird look, Nico elaborated simply by saying, “My mom was Catholic.”
Meg leaned forward on the table with her hands folded under her chin. “I see…”
“Did you need something?”
“Yeah, I heard you can get people out of camp,” Meg told him finally.
Nico gave her a tired look. He got enough of this from Hermes kids who wanted to restock their illegal snack supplies. “Yeah. So can you. The border’s right over there, but I don’t recommend making a run for it, since we’re a few miles away from civilization.”
Meg rolled her eyes. “Uh, yeah, duh. That’s why I came to you. I need to go to a store.”
“For what?”
“It has come to my attention that I suddenly have siblings. One of them let it slip that they both got me something for insert holiday here, and now I feel bad that I don’t have anything to give them in return. So? What do you say? Take me to the city, and we can steal from some corporations together?”
Nico took a moment to consider this, then sighed. “Yeah, okay. I guess I could surprise Will with a gift when he comes back, then.” He broke out into a grin. “It’ll be an even better surprise when he finds out it’s stolen.”
They ditched their activities for the day so that Nico could shadow travel them into the city. They wandered down the street for a short while, not quite sure what they were looking for just yet, until they walked up to a Target and headed inside.
“Who are you shopping for?” Nico asked as they wandered past the greeting cards at the front of the store.
“Just Miranda and Billie, since everybody else went home,” Meg answered. “But I don’t know what they like, so it’s gonna have to be something kind of generic.”
“Get them flowers.”
Meg stopped in the middle of the aisle. “What.”
Nico turned on his heel to face her, his hands stuffed into his coat pockets as he shrugged. “Demeter kids like flowers, right? Get them flowers. Or, I dunno, pots. Soil.”
“That might be the stupidest thing you’ve ever said.”
Nico frowned. “Hey, I’m just saying what I know.”
“We can literally grow plants from nothing,” Meg reminded him.
Realization slowly dawned on Nico, and he said a nearly silent oh. “Huh. Okay, so that was kind of dumb.” He continued walking, assuming that Meg would follow. “What do you know about them?”
Meg blew out a long stream of air as she thought. “Well, Miranda’s dating Sherman, and she’s my head counselor. And, uh, Billie likes makeup. I think she has a crush on Valentina, but that’s just speculation.”
Nico paused near an aisle end cap. “So, probably not the best idea to get her these gay shoelaces,” he said, holding up a pair of rainbow shoelaces.
“Maybe when she comes out,” Meg said. “Or for her birthday. Whichever comes first.”
They kept heading through the store, occasionally pointing things out to each other as they passed certain aisles, until Nico led Meg down one of the crafting aisles.
“What about something like this?” Nico said, gesturing to an assortment of sketchbooks, then grabbing a pack of multicolored pens off a shelf. “This is what I got for my sister, and she seemed to like it.”
Meg stared at the sketchbooks with deep consideration before she moved further down the row and picked up a smaller book instead. “Maybe not a sketchbook, but one of these journals might be better. And that pack of pens, too. Miranda might not like it all that much, but at least it’ll be useful.”
Meg took the pens from Nico, and stuffed them into one of the pockets of her coat, along with the journal. They weren’t exactly hidden from view since her pockets weren’t all that big, and Nico caught the eye of an employee giving them the stink eye.
Nico made a show of turning to Meg and saying, “You know you can’t just put stuff in your pockets just because you don’t want to carry it. Give those to me.”
Meg frowned, clearly not catching on. “What are you talking about? I thought we--” Nico lightly kicked the toe of her shoe, and Meg stopped herself. “Oh! Uh, okay, fine, whatever!” She shoved the items into Nico’s chest, and continued around a corner.
Nico followed, glancing around the area, though the fluorescent lights didn’t leave a single of the corner unlit. “Damn, there aren’t any shadows in this place. Hang on.”
He unzipped his coat and tucked the journal underneath the fabric, sending it into a shadow that would deposit the object in his cabin, then did the same with the pens.
“How is that any better than my pockets?” Meg demanded, arms crossed.
Nico held open his coat for her to see that the items had completely disappeared. “Because you could’ve been caught. I just sent everything back to camp before anyone noticed anything.”
Meg’s eyes widened in appreciation. “Alright, cool. Let’s go look at makeup now.”
She guided Nico across the store to the overly-bright makeup section, filled with a million products that Nico couldn’t even guess what half of them were supposed to be used for. “Uh, what would Billie want?”
Meg shrugged. “I’unno.” She stepped toward the shelf and started grabbing things at random until her hands were full. Then, she turned back to Nico and shoved it all into his hands. “Okay. Done. Now it’s your turn. What are you getting for Will? A first aid kit?”
Nico tried to think as he stuffed everything under his coat and back to his cabin. “I mean, he wouldn’t hate that…”
Meg punched his arm. “Shut up, you can’t actually get him that. Get him something nicer.”
“Then come up with nicer ideas,” Nico shot back. “C’mon, there’s gotta be some section of the store that’s just full of basic gifts. Let’s find those.”
They wandered a full lap around the store until the registers were in sight, though right as they both turned a corner, they spotted it. The perfect gift for Will. There were rows and rows of ugly Christmas sweaters hung up along the wall, but the best one of them all was tucked away in the corner.
“That is the ugliest thing I’ve ever seen,” Nico muttered.
“It’s perfect,” Meg agreed.
On Christmas morning, Nico once again found himself eating breakfast alone at the Hades table. Right as he leaned forward to stuff a bite of french toast in his mouth, something hit him in the back of the head. He found himself getting angry and turned to find whoever assaulted him, though there weren’t any suspicious figures behind him - and besides, he didn’t need to reopen that giant scar across the pavilion floor.
Nico looked down to find whatever had hit him, and saw a small, gift-wrapped package laying on the tile. He picked it up and pulled off the note attached to it.
To: Nico
From: Jesus
Christmas is basically Pagan anyway.
He tore the wrapping off of the gift and found the rainbow shoelaces he’d picked up while he was out shopping with Meg.
He looked toward the Demeter table. Meg offered him a thumbs-up. Nico flipped her off in return.
Will returned a few days after Christmas, unable to spend the full holiday season with his mom since she had to head back out on tour before New Year’s. As soon as he stepped out of the camp van after being picked up at the airport, Nico jumped on him and wrapped him up in a hug.
“Hey. I missed you,” Will told him, returning the hug.
“Missed you, too,” Nico told him. “It’s boring having to eat all by myself every day.” Will rolled his eyes, and Nico pulled away just quick enough to see it. “Come with me, I got you something.”
He dragged Will back to his cabin - allowing Will a second to drop his suitcase at the Apollo cabin - and handed him the gift bag as soon as Will was seated on Nico’s bed. Will peeked underneath the tissue paper, and glared up at Nico.
“Babe, please tell me you didn’t get me an ugly Christmas sweater,” Will warned him. “I know I told you I’m Jewish, and don’t you dare try to pretend I never mentioned it.”
“No, I know. It’s not a Christmas sweater, I promise. Open it already.”
Will sighed and pulled away the tissue paper. He brought out his gift and let out a loud groan, dropping his head onto Nico’s shoulder. “An ugly Hanukkah sweater isn’t any better, you know! My grandma got me this same thing, and I accidentally left it at home for a reason, Nico! How dare you!”
Nico wrapped an arm around Will with a grin, and pulled him up to press a kiss to his cheek. “I’m glad you like it!”
“I don’t! Go return it, right now,” Will demanded.
“No way! You got it just in time to wear it on the last night of Hanukkah! And besides, I can’t return something I stole.”
“You WHAT?”

You and Sihoon had been taking out your little brothers out to the arcade to just relax for a bit. But then, he had to go pee really badly, leaving you to watch the boys play Just Dance. Not even five seconds later once he was gone, a tall-looking guy appeared from literal nowhere.
"Hello, beautiful lady! My name's Eunsang. Care to tell me yours?"
"No. Goodbye."
Rolling your eyes, you diverted your attention back to your little brother, who was currently losing pretty badly to Sihoon's brother. To your annoyance, Eunsang moved again to block your view. Freaking stupidhead was obviously clueless on how to take a card of rejection.
"Not until I get your name, pretty lady."
"You are so-"
"ANNOYING!!! GET AWAY FROM MY SISTER!!"
Trying not to laugh, you let your six-year-old brother be your knight in shining armor, with his arms folded across his chest and frown on.
"I would just like your sister's name, little dude."
"I don't think she likes you very much."
"And I 100% do not approve."
Sihoon's brother joined in on the fun too, threatening to break your stoic facade.
"I think you should listen to them, dude."
Smiling at the familiar voice, you eased into the comfort of Sihoon's arm around your waist, looking up at his pouty face. Rolling his eyes, he pecked your lips before waving the other guy away. Who finally took the hint to scram. Once he was gone, you let out your giggles as the three boys hugged you tightly. Sihoon grinned, kissing your forehead.
"The other stupudhead boys won't ever get you while I'm still around!"
Laughing, you kissed the tops of their three heads.
"Glad to know I have three knights to protect me then."

For the love of all things good in the world, all you had wanted was to get your ice cream in peace today. Was the world against you? 200% yes. Which is why you and Hyeongjun awkwardly stood in front of the cashier lady, who would not stop ranting about pretty you were and how much she would love to kiss you. The worst part was that you were both still minors so you couldn’t physically leave until she dismissed you. And there wasn’t anyone in line behind you guys either. So essentially you were doomed. But as the lady just kept on talking, you felt Hyeongjun’s grip of your hand slowly getting tighter and tighter. Looking out of the corner of your eye, you saw his lip beginning to stick out in an angry pout. Until finally, he took a deep breath to get all the oxygen necessary to counter the lady with his speech. With his dialect.
“Excuse me, ma’am? Please stop talking about my girlfriend like that, because it’s making us feel super uncomfortable. And as her boyfriend, I really, really don’t appreciate someone else talking about kissing her. Ok so, bye!”
Grabbing your hand, Hyeongjun basically dragged out the door and all the way to the park.
“Hyeongjun? Are-”
Falling onto the bench, he sat there breathing hard and looking stunned.
“Oh my god that was so scary. Oh, what we going to do?!! Did I seem manly?? Oh my god she was so weird… But that was so scary!”
Laughing, you hugged him tightly. Your poor baby looked like he was about to cry from being stressed about being manly enough to scare the weird lady away. Leaning closer to you, he kissed the side of your head and smiled with your next words.
“Yes Hyeongjunnie, you were very manly.”
“Phew!”

“Son Dongpyo?”
The nurse called out, scanning the room for the boy. Nudging him with you shoulder, you shook him awake gently.
“Pyo, it’s your turn to get checked out by the doctor.”
He woke up, looking super dazed and confused.
“Huh? What? Okay.”
Trudging forward, he disappeared behind the door, but not without a little wave.
“Don’t leave without me, okay? I won’t take too long!”
“Okay!”
With a soft sigh, you made your way to the espresso machine. You were in dire need of one since it was finals week. You were supposed to be studying at home, but Dongpyo was afraid of going to the doctor’s alone, so you had agreed to go with him. You were adding the condensed milk when a voice startled you.
“Hey, wanna make me a cup too?”
Turning around, you saw a boy that literally looked like a mix of literally all the visuals of all the idol groups that you could shink of, stood, looking blank minus the spark of hope in his eyes.
“Can I help you?”
“Um, I just wanted to get a cup of coffee. Sorry about that…”
“No worries! I’m Y/N. And you are?”
“Kim Mingyu. Thanks!”
“So what brings you here?”
“Oh, um, I came to drop off my sister’s lunch since she forgot it at home.”
You were surprised, to say the least. Because you knew that your brother would rather let you starve than make the 15-minute drive to drop it off. But before you could reply, you were snatched away, nearly dropping your beloved espresso in the process.
“Son Dongpyo! What the heck do you think you’re doing?!”
You glared at him, but his bear-like back hug wasn’t loosening anytime soon. The stupidhead wasn’t even looking at you, but was glaring at the confused boy in front of you.
“Ah, my mistake. Sorry about that! I’ll be going now…”
He quickly left for the other side of the waiting room, red in the face, while Dongpyo went to check himself out at the front desk. Tapping your feet impatiently, you waited until he finished before dragging him outside to talk to in a quieter hallway.
“Dongpyo, look at me and tell me what that was all about.”
He sighed, exasperated at your obvious cluelessness.
“Did you not see the way he was looking at you?! How his hand was inching closer to yours?! How he kept checking the door to see if I had appeared?! Obviously not! You know, I really hate that you attract so many people.”
You just laughed, finally understanding the severity of the situation in Dongpyo’s eyes.
“Well, you’re the only one that I know of where the feeling is mutual.”
“GOOD!”
𝓗𝓪𝓶 𝓦𝓸𝓷𝓳𝓲𝓷
Wiping your tears, you and Wonjin stumbled your way out of the movie theater.
“The ending was so good!! But now I’m also super sad about it…”
(A/N: btw the movie referred to is Avengers: Endgame)
Wonjin nodded, trying to pull himself together for both of your sakes. He hated that he cried super easily, but you just thought that it made him that much more human. It’s one of the many reasons why he had fallen for you in the first place: your ability to turn any negative thing into something 3000x more positive. But his thoughts were interrupted when three guys approached, all of them looking like models. The blonde one spoke up first.
“So me and my friends noticed you during that movie, and we were just wondering if you wanted to ditch your crybaby, loser boyfriend to come hang out with us?”
Wonjin held his breath, hands balled into fists, as he waited for your answer. What if you did ditch him? After all, you had three pretty boys gunning for you. He wouldn’t blame you at all.
“No.”
By the nature of their shock, it was easy to tell that these boys had never been rejected before. Rolling your eyes, you pecked Wonjin’s chin, which instinctly made him pull you closer.
“He’s more than I could have ever asked for, so I suggest that you three should leave before I call security.”
Taking the hint, the boys scoffed and sauntered away. As annoying as it was, they still looked like models in the process. But once they were gone, Wonjin’s protective instinct finally appeared.
“Oh gosh… are you ok?! I’m so sorry… I should’ve done move to help you. You shouldn’t have had to-”
Cutting him off, you pressed your lips to his gently.
“It’s the 21st century sweetheart. You don’t always have to be the one protecting me.”
“But it would be more reassuring....”
𝓛𝓮𝓮 𝓣𝓪𝓮𝓼𝓮𝓾𝓷𝓰
“Trick or treat!”
Laughing, you opened the door for your dinosaur boyfriend.
“Oh? Does Taeseungie want candy?”
“YES!”
Laughing, you threw the whole bag of candy at him. Every since fourth grade ended, the two of you had gotten too lazy to go trick-or-treating, so it was your tradition to give out candy eat it in the most extra costumes and share tea. Rolling his eyes, he plopped down onto the couch with arms wide open for you to lean into.
“So, what do you think about Yuna’s pregnancy?”
You nearly choked on your M&M’s when he mentioned her name. She was your cousin, who was temporarily staying with you and your parents until her parents returned from their business trip. And neither yours nor hers knew about the baby yet.
“Shh!! Keep your voice down! My parents don’t know yet. Let’s just call it… milkshake for now.”
“Okay…? So what do you think about the milkshake?”
“I think she was being stupid for getting the milkshake so soon after graduating high school. She hasn’t even picked a major yet, so how the heck is she gonna be a mom?!”
He just sighed, rubbing your arm.
“That’s what I thought, too. But then I realized that it was her own choice, so whether or not she regrets it is something she has to live with.”
Right then, the doorbell rang, signaling the arrival of trick-or-treaters. To your dismay, it was some college freshmen. Aka, the boys from Yuna’s grade. And you knew exactly which one out of the four of them had gotten her pregnant.
“Trick-or-treat baby doll. But I’d like to make a special request for you as my treat.”
“Get away from my house.”
“And what if I don’t?”
Before you could even reply, Taeseung was getting out of his dino suit and pushing you behind him, phone ready.
“Lay a finger on her and I’m calling the cops. Please leave while I’m still asking nicely.”
The other boys ran for it, leaving Seungwoo standing alone on your front porch.
“You little boyfriend won’t always be around to protect you, Y/N. You better watch your back.”
Once he had disappeared, you slammed the front door closed with a relieved sigh, collapsing into Taeseung’s waiting arms.
“Don’t worry Y/N. I won’t ever leave you.”
Seeing him smile so gently at you made it hard believe the sheer amount of rage that you knew lay hidden behind it.
𝓒𝓱𝓸𝓲 𝓢𝓾𝓱𝔀𝓪𝓷
“YES! I GOT A STRIKE! You better pay up, sweetheart.”
You and Suhwan had made a bet over 10,000 won on whether or not you’d be able to bowl a strike. And lucky for you, you had made one in your last set.
“Fine….”
Grumbling, Suhwan stole a peck from you before handing over the money. Much to your annoyance.
“Hey! That’s not fair! You aren’t allowed to get a prize for losing!”
Laughing, he stole another kiss from you. Much to your disadvantage, he knew that most of the time, you would give into his kisses.
“I hate you!”
“Love you too sweetheart!”
Right before you guys returned your shoes, he planted another huge kiss on your lips.
“EW! SUHWAN! Don’t be gross!”
The guy at the counter just laughed at the two of you as he put your shoes away.
“You guys are really cute, by the way.”
You smiled, touched.
“Why, thank you!”
But Suhwan totally took it the wrong way.
“You callin’ my girl cute?!”
Rolling your eyes, you dragged your mumbling boyfriend away from the counter, despite his endless complaints.
“But-”
“It was a compliment, you buttface!”
He was being nice and you 100% took way too much offense to it.”
“But-”
Before he could start complaining, you quickly shut him up with a peck.
“Relax, I’m still yours. Ok?”
“Ok…”
𝓚𝓲𝓶 𝓨𝓸𝓱𝓪𝓷
“YAY KIM YOHAN!”
Smirking, he winked at you playfully before the referee blew his whistle in annoyance to get his attention. Snickering, you covered your smile behind one hand while all the other girls around you sighed with a hand over their hearts. They all believed the great Kim Yohan’s wink had been for them, but of course, you knew better.
“Hey baby girl, why don’t you cheer for me?”
Yohan’s competitor winked at you with a sly grin on his face, disgusting you.
“Uh, no thanks.”
“You will after this match.”
“Sure…”
But now you were afraid for Yohan. You knew that vengeance was a powerful emotion, and that combined with skill could be extremely dangerous for him. Already, you could see the arrogance building up in his competitor. Yohan was significantly smaller than him, maybe even scrawny. But you knew better than to underestimate him. But you frowned slightly, seeing the rage building up in him. Why? You hated it when Yohan got mad, partly because it scared you but mostly because you saw no reason for it.
“Yohanie fighting~!”
Your cheers just encouraged him to beat up his competitor even more as the referee blew his whistle to start the match. Before you knew it, his competitor was on the ground, Yohan standing victoriously over him with the referee holding his fist up in victory.
“KIM YOHAN… WINNER!!”
With a proud smile, he pushed through the screaming crowd, making his way towards you.
“Congratulations Yohanie- MPHM!”
Before you could get another word out, his lips were already on yours, quick and urgent. You were practically helpless in his capable hands, or rather, lips. Shielding you with his jacket, he dragged you outside through a back door that led to an alley where he had parked his car.
“Yohan, what’s going on?”
Huffing, he kissed you again, biting your lip.
“I really, really didn’t like the way he talked to you. Are you ok?”
“Yeah babe, I’m fine. What are your fans gonna say?”
“I care more about you than I care about what they think. So what does it matter?”
𝓗𝓲𝓭𝓪𝓴𝓪 𝓜𝓪𝓱𝓲𝓻𝓸
“Y/N GET DOWN FROM THERE!!”
You opened your eyes to see your boyfriend sprinting at you from across the park, as you still hung upside down from the monkey bars. You laughed, watching as he continued running, even after he dropped his phone. You were touched, to say the least.
“Y/N I’M NOT KIDDING!!”
“I KNOW YOU AREN’T BABE!”
As soon as he reached you, you released your grip and unhooked your legs, allowing him to catch you.
“Please don’t ever do that again.”
“He’s right, sweetheart! You don’t wanna mess up your pretty little face!”
“Talk like that about my girlfriend one more time and I WILL KICK YOUR ASS!”
The boy on the bench smirked, seemingly at ease.
“Or what, short stuff?”
Setting you down gently, Mahiro took off running after the boy, much to your dismay. Surprised, the boy literally ran for his life.
“MAHIRO GET YOUR ASS BACK HERE RIGHT NOW!”
“BUT-!”
“NOW!”
Rolling his eyes, Mahiro made his way back to you.
“But I really don’t like what he said about you…”
“Then ignore him and focus on me, ok? We are fine. I am fine. And I’m your girlfriend. Not his.”
“Ok that’s fair.”
𝓚𝓪𝓷𝓰 𝓢𝓮𝓸𝓴𝓱𝔀𝓪
“AH! OH MY GOD! KANG SEOKHWA I HATE YOU!”
But all Seokhwa could do was just laugh at your pure terror and misery in the haunted house. He was afraid of a lot of things, like losing you, but things like this? Not so much.
“Haha, you are such a scaredy cat!”
“SHUT UP! OH MY GOD IT’S A CLOWN!”
The clown jumped out, waggling its fingers at and grinning widely at you.
“HI THERE BABY DOLL!! COME PLAY WITH ME!! I’LL TAKE CARE OF YOU!!”
You were too terrified by its appearance to do anything but cling to Seokhwa’s arm, hands over your ears. Meaning that you were totally deaf to the world and had no idea what he had said to you. But Seokhwa, on the other hand, was ready to beat the living shit out of him.
“Try saying that ONE MORE TIME to my girlfriend and I’ll kick your ass to YG’s compound!!”
The clown cackled, running away to scare someone else in the haunted house. Whimpering, you looked up at Seokhwa.
“Is it gone?”
Seeing you so scared made him feel like it was his obligation to protect you at all costs, especially from other preying guys. Particularly clowns and anything else that scared you. As soon as you were near the exit, he kissed your forehead, smiling gently.
“I promise I’ll protect you princess, don’t worry.”
“Protect me, my foot.”
“Hey! I promised!”
𝓦𝓮𝓲 𝓩𝓲 𝓨𝓾𝓮
“Here you go, miss! Have a great day!”
“You too, thanks!”
Grabbing yours and Ziyue’s cups of bubble tea, you made your way back to the table.
“Here you go!”
“Thanks Y/N! Wait, what is that?”
Grabbing your cup, he turned it around to see the note on the back:
call me soon, doll ~ (123) 456-7890.
Before you could stop him, he was ripping the label off your cup and tossing it away, before slouching back into his seat with a pout on his face. Rolling your eyes, you kissed the top of his forehead.
“What are you so worried about?”
“I hate other boys. Especially the ones that hit on you.”
“Well, that’s not the worst thing in the world to hate. But it’s not like it’s ever going to affect me, ok?”
“Good. But come here, there’s something on your face.”
“Where?”
“I’ll get it, you dumb cutie. Come here.”
Frowning at the nickname, you leaned in closer so he could brush off whatever was on your face. But to your surprise, he locked lips with you instead, keeping you in place by cupping your face gently in his hands. When you finally pulled apart, all you could say, was:
“Wow…”
“Wow is right sweetheart.”
𝓚𝓲𝓶 𝓦𝓸𝓸𝓼𝓮𝓸𝓴
“Hey, I’ll be right back, ok? Stay here, whatever you do, please?”
“Okay, I got it.”
You watched as your boyfriend practically tripped over himself getting off of the bar stool, before smoothly making his way through the crowd to get to the bathroom. Hiding a giggle behind your hand, you turned back to the bartender, who served you up another shot.
“This one’s on the house, courtesy of the other guy down there.”
Craning your neck, you looked to see a guy waving with a lopsided smile on his face.
“Ah, say thank you to him for me, but please tell him that I already have a boyfriend.”
“Will do, miss.”
And right then, your lovely boyfriend appeared.
“Which is me. And I don’t like him.”
“Wooseokie, don’t do something stupid. Please?”
“Ok fine, I won’t bust his head. What do you expect me to do, instead?”
Rolling your eyes, you grabbed his arm and started dragging him through the crowd, out the door.
“Ok, you’re drunk sheep. Let’s go.”
“Mary? Is that you?”
Smiling, you pecked his lips gently.
“Come on, sweetheart. Let’s go home.”
“But I want to beat up that guy~!”
“Too bad.”

Siz'ir Johcandalo keeps looking at something just over Ashelia Riot's shoulder. Ashelia Riot prepares a cup of coffee for Siz'ir Johcandalo and makes sure it's sufficiently sweet. Ashelia Riot: Hm? What is it? Siz'ir Johcandalo is still chuckling. Siz'ir Johcandalo: Your husband's there. He was making kissy faces at you. Siz'ir Johcandalo: I like him, he's funny. Ashelia Riot thinks she can feel her husband's aether; its presence is faint and she can't discern any of his words or actions as Siz'ir Johcandalo can, but neither does she doubt that he is there in some way. Ashelia Riot: Edge, please! Siz'ir Johcandalo laughs. Siz'ir Johcandalo: He's going back to his nap. He just wanted to say hi. Ashelia Riot beams with delight. Siz'ir Johcandalo: And... it turns out he was having a nightmare about that Sephirot guy too. Ashelia Riot: Hi to you too. There's coffee for you, too, if you want any. Siz'ir Johcandalo: He said he might come in a bit! Ashelia Riot passes over Siz'ir Johcandalo's coffee and nods. Siz'ir Johcandalo sniffs it almost cautiously.
Siz'ir Johcandalo: I hear everyone talk about this stuff all the time, but Gridanians mostly drink tea... Ashelia Riot: You're Gridanian, then? Ashelia Riot sips from her own cup. Siz'ir Johcandalo: Yup! Well, um, I haven't been home in a while, though. Siz'ir Johcandalo takes a sip of the coffee, blanching at the first one, but takes another and realizes it tastes sweeter the second time. Siz'ir Johcandalo: Hmm... I think I like it. Ashelia Riot beams with delight at Siz'ir Johcandalo. Ashelia Riot: Here, let’s sit. Siz'ir Johcandalo: Thank you. I didn't expect everyone here to be so... nice. Ashelia Riot: We do our best. What brought you here to begin with, if I might ask? Siz'ir Johcandalo blushes with embarrassment. Siz'ir Johcandalo: Well, I was in this company waaay back called the Gullwings. Well, sort of in it. I hied to rob them. But then we ended up becoming friends! Siz'ir Johcandalo: Nathan and I both realized around the same time it wasn't really the place for us, and then we decided to go on an adventure together... but a few days into it, the loser ditched me and came here. But then I ran into him some time later in Revenant's Toll. Siz'ir Johcandalo: We didn't really have time to catch up, though, 'cause he was about to rescue his boyfriend from the castrum. I told him he was crazy, but I managed to snag a uniform he could use to sneak in. Then he told me about this place... but I haven't really seen him around... Siz'ir Johcandalo continues to sip from the coffee. Ashelia Riot: The last I heard, Baithin was badgering everyone to read up on the Echo until they bled from the eyes. Though I've little and less knowledge of what Nathan is up to, as well. Siz'ir Johcandalo is already getting jittery from the coffee, bouncing his legs up and down and talking quickly. Siz'ir Johcandalo: So... yeah. I was sort of loitering around here for a while and then that Echo thing happened. So here I am. Ashelia Riot: I assume your profession is thievery, then? Siz'ir Johcandalo scratches his head. Siz'ir Johcandalo: Well... it was never really a profession, but sort of. But I've been trying to turn over a new leaf, you know? Ashelia Riot: I'm glad to hear it. I would be happy to give you a job at the Riskbreakers. Though I would need to see what sorts of tasks need doing. Siz'ir Johcandalo looks surprised. Siz'ir Johcandalo: Would you? Truly? Aren't you soldier types? I'm not really much of a fighter... Ashelia Riot: I assume you can read, if Baithin put you to the task. Siz'ir Johcandalo blushes with embarrassment. Siz'ir Johcandalo: I can't, actually... Ashelia Riot: Ah, I see. No matter. Siz'ir Johcandalo: I just told him I could to get him off my back. Ashelia Riot: There is less glamorous work. Bartending, cooking, cleaning. Siz'ir Johcandalo: I can bartend! And how hard can cleaning be? Siz'ir Johcandalo: I'm pretty good at sneaking around... and talking to people, I guess. Ashelia Riot: Then there you have it. We'll find room for you somewhere. Siz'ir Johcandalo: And I s'pose if you needed me to I could try stealing stuff again... I used to be a pretty big deal, you know. They called me the Choco Bandit. Siz'ir Johcandalo beams with delight. Ashelia Riot: Hopefully it won't come to that... but I'll keep that in mind. Siz'ir Johcandalo: Wow, so that's it? I'm in? Siz'ir Johcandalo almost can't believe it. Ashelia Riot nods to Siz'ir Johcandalo. Ashelia Riot: That's it. Siz'ir Johcandalo: Wow! Thank you! I can't wait to tell Nathan! Ashelia Riot: I'll write you into our log. In the meantime, make yourself at home. Siz'ir Johcandalo: I won't let you down! Ashelia Riot: I know you won't. But thank you, Siz'ir. Siz'ir Johcandalo: Guess this means I'm going to be seeing more of Edge and the others, huh? Ashelia Riot: Hopefully so. I'll speak with you soon. Come find me in my office, should you have any questions. Siz'ir Johcandalo: Will do! Until then, I'll clean this table! And then the chairs! And then the stables! And then all the floors! I just have so much energy! Ashelia Riot laughs at Siz'ir Johcandalo. Ashelia Riot: Be well, Siz'ir. Siz'ir Johcandalo: Thanks!

Too Subtle.
Hatagami Tadakatsu/Kuronaga Hiroshi Battle Royale 5,000~ words. Sfw.
After Yuichiro and Sho get together, Katsu is finally free to pursue his crush on Hiroshi. It’s not exactly as easy as he planned it to be considering even the least subtle behavior flies right over Hiroshi’s head. Tagging @yoshimiyahagi and @hironoshimizu.
Yuichiro Takiguchi and Sho Tsukioka’s budding relationship had led to an uncertain truce between the athletes and the Kiriyama Family. A shaky truce, at that, as Tatsumichi Oki still regularly reminded Ryuhei Sasagawa that if he made so much as a snarky remark toward Yoshio Akamatsu, Tatsu was well within his rights to kick Ryuhei’s ass. It also created a fragile but tangible peace among most of the students of class 3-B. Yutaka was Yuichiro’s friend, and Shinji was Yutaka’s boyfriend, so all of Shinji’s friends promised to be on their best behavior if the Kiriyama Family remained on theirs.
There had been some interesting developments as a result. Shuya Nanahara and Mitsuru Numai proved to be quite the pair of friends when the two of them started speaking to each other regularly, and Hiroki Sugimura and Kazuo Kiriyama found they shared a similar knowledge of Chinese poetry. Perhaps the least surprising development was the fact that Tadakatsu Hatagami and Hiroshi Kuronaga started spending more time with each other.
It would only make sense, of course. Though Hiroshi seemed to be one of the most annoying members of the Kiriyama Family, he was also capable of being the least in the way as long as he kept his mouth shut, sometimes to the point of the Family entirely forgetting about him. But since he wasn’t as annoying as Ryuhei was and wasn’t dating anyone at the moment, he was the perfect person to bring along when Yuichiro wanted to spend time with both his boyfriend and his best friend at the same time. It was lucky Katsu and Hiroshi got along.
Really, though, anyone who had paid close enough attention to Katsu’s behavior around Hiroshi would have quickly realized why this was so. Katsu was lucky that only Yuichiro was close enough to him to pick up on anything but was too preoccupied by his own crush and then his own relationship to notice anything was amiss. Katsu was lucky Yuichiro had never noticed him staring in the exact same place as he did, or, well… The exact same direction, just a little to the right instead of the left. Staring at Hiroshi Kuronaga’s back.
Just like Yuichiro had no idea where or why his crush on Sho began, Katsu was at a loss as to when he had developed any feelings whatsoever for their resident skater boy. There was never any defining moment that kickstarted anything, he just kind of noticed it one day and didn’t know where to go from there. When he had seen Yuichiro staring off in the same direction, he’d only really had two immediate thoughts: Don’t sink down to the level of having a crush on Ryuhei Sasagawa and not Hiroshi. Please not Hiroshi.
Sho had never struck him as being Yuichiro’s type, but he had honestly just thought his shy best friend was too quiet to like someone as loud and dramatic as Sho. He’d been pleasantly surprised at how well they worked together and how cute they looked together, and seeing Yuichiro happy and Sho genuinely taking care of him had been enough to convince him it worked.
And, privately, he’d been glad it wasn’t Hiroshi. He wouldn’t have known what to do if it was. Realistically, he probably would have kept back and not interfered because he wants Yuichiro’s happiness more than he wants his own most days, and this would have been no different. He’s just happy he never had to make such a difficult decision.
Today is one of the days when Yuichiro and Sho have invited them along and then more or less just pulled back into each other, and Katsu is fine with this. He’s happy to see them together, and if it gives him more time to spend with Hiroshi, then that’s just a bonus.
“You brought your skateboard with you.” It’s hard not to notice the scuffed black board with its mismatched colored wheels. “Are you going to skateboard sometime today?”
Hiroshi shrugs, adjusting his grip on the board. “I’m not sure yet. But we’re walking around outside so it seemed like a good day to bring it with me. Why, you wanna see me do some sick tricks? I’m not entirely sure I won’t break my own neck but I can try.”
“No, that’s fine. I just noticed you bring it with you a lot.” Katsu shrugs. That’s a normal thing to notice, though, right? Of course, Hiroshi’s skateboard is his most treasured possession.
“Sometimes you just gotta find a way to make your own fun. Sometimes that’s bringing your board in case you find a place to ride, sometimes that’s annoying Ryuhei until he cries and Sho tells you to shut up.” Hiroshi grins at him, the corners of his eyes crinkling in the process, then shrugs and adjusts his beanie. “But also I just bring it with me whenever. Force of habit.”
Katsu nods and lets himself fall quiet, shoving his hands into the pockets of his varsity jacket as he glances ahead to see Yuichiro and Sho walking as close as humanly possible. Sho having a noticeably large height advantage means that he mostly just keeps an arm around Yuichiro’s shoulders and Yuichiro keeps one in the small of his back, and it’s cute. They’re so pitifully, painfully cute together and Katsu can’t help but grin like a fool. All he wants is for the two of them to be happy and he’s so glad to get to see it’s happening for them.
Hiroshi nudges him with his elbow, giving him a look. “Hey, since they’re pretty much off in their own world, you wanna walk with me to the skate park? It’s nice out and it’s not gonna be much longer before it gets cold, so I wanna make the most of it.”
He knows Hiroshi most likely means that they should ditch their friends, but he doesn’t work like that so he takes a few quick steps forward to tug on Yuichiro’s sleeve. “Hey, if you two don’t mind, Hiroshi and I are going to head to the skate park.”
“You gonna let him teach you how to ride a skateboard? Believe me when I say that he’s not good enough to teach you shit,” Sho says, but his voice isn’t unkind.
“Sure, go head.” Yuichiro bumps against him lightly. “Have a good time. We’ll meet at the mall to eat at, what, two? Does that give you enough time to skate, Hiroshi?”
Hiroshi, who had likely never had anyone consider him in making plans before, blinks a few times before clearing his throat to answer. “Yeah, dude, that’s more than enough time.”
They part ways after that, Hiroshi taking over the lead because he knows the way and Katsu has been there enough times without being able to remember the exact direction they have to take. Walking with Hiroshi is surprisingly nice and Katsu can’t help but smile a little; this is exactly what he’d wanted, some alone time with Hiroshi. And he’d gotten it without having to try too hard to get it, too.
Today is shaping up to be a pretty great day.
All in all, Hiroshi Kuronaga is pretty much the loser of the Kiriyama Family.
He knows this, and he has known this. From pretty much the moment they all formed into a group, even before Kazuo had become a member of their gang, Hiroshi was pretty much pegged as the loser. He’s a wallflower even though he’s part of one of the most well-known gangs in Shiroiwa to the point where his friends occasionally forget that he exists and occasionally forget about him. And it’s fine, for what it’s worth. He doesn’t consider himself particularly close with any of them, but they’re friendly enough with each other that they can talk with few issues and he likes the rub of being a member of the Kiriyama Family.
He’s barely taller than Ryuhei, he gets forgotten from time to time, he can vanish without any of them knowing, they genuinely don’t care about his opinions or his thoughts, and they give him plenty of shit, just slightly less than Ryuhei. But honestly, it’s fine. It rolls off of his back because he knows it doesn’t mean anything, he isn’t getting picked on for any special reason. They all give each other shit, it’s just a part of the way their weird relationships work.
But things aren’t like that with Yuichiro and Katsu, and that has thrown Hiroshi off more than a little. He’s not sure how to behave around them. Being himself doesn’t seem quite right, not really, because the two of them are different than the Kiriyama Family. They treat him like a person, they’re considerate of him and what he wants. It’s strange. It’s even stranger coming from Katsu, because Yuichiro is just naturally nice. Katsu is much more wary of people.
All things considered, Hiroshi is pretty thrilled to be getting positive attention from one of the cute athletes. The others are plenty nice, all things considered, but Katsu is different. And beneath the acne, he’s got a really cute face. Hiroshi has even considered going to one of his baseball games considered Katsu comes with him to the skate park sometimes.
“When did you start skateboarding?” Katsu asks out of nowhere, and Hiroshi glances over at him, cocking his head at him. “I was just curious. You do it a lot but you never talk about it.”
Hiroshi shrugs. “No one to really talk about it too if you want the honest truth.”
“There are four more of you guys in the Family and you can’t talk to any of them about it?” Katsu asks, raising an eyebrow at him.
“Do you really think any of them are interested enough to listen to me talk about it? I mean…” Hiroshi cocks his head to the side, looking thoughtful. “One time, the boss asked me about it. He wanted to know the mechanics of it, he asked me what drew me to it. I told him everything I knew and then he must have been satisfied because he didn’t ask about it anymore. That’s how the boss is. Something catches his curiosity, then he learns enough, then he moves on.”
Katsu nods. He’s more or less noticed the same thing about Kazuo as time had passed, and though how a mind comes to function in such a way is a mystery to him, he at least knows how it works. “So just him, and just to satisfy his curiosity. But not to the others, not really?”
“Not really, no.” Hiroshi is quiet for a moment, then sends Katsu a sideways smile. “I saw some guys on TV skateboarding one time. I knew they were professionals but I thought they were the coolest thing in the entire world. So I asked my mom to buy me a board, and she did.”
He’s almost embarrassed to admit it to tell the truth, and it’s not like he really ever told anyone about it before now. Kazuo was a special case, but talking to him never really felt like talking to a real human being, not like it did talking to other people. After all Kazuo is different from other people, so analytical and cold that he seemed less like a real person and more like a scientist researching some particularly interesting lifeforms.
To his surprise, though, Katsu only grins at him. “Yeah? That sounds familiar. I started playing baseball when I was a kid, too. That was back when Nanahara was still into it, that’s how we became friends, y’know. Then he started playing music and my mom didn’t want us to talk anymore.” He shrugs. “That’s how it goes sometimes, I suppose. What do you think?”
Hiroshi shrugs. “Win some, lose some I guess. You’ve got Yuichiro and you two seem like the best of friends so I guess it wasn’t all bad for you, huh?”
Katsu grins at him again, and Hiroshi finds himself grinning back like an idiot. “Yeah, I guess you’re right.”
If only Sho was here right now to hear that.
For what it’s worth, Hiroshi doesn’t fall off his skateboard too many times and only comes away with a few bruises and scrapes. Katsu is about as supportive as he can be considering he doesn’t know enough about skateboarding to know when Hiroshi is doing something right or messing something up save for the times he manages to fall in the process. But he seems in good spirits when they leave the park, so there’s that, Katsu supposes.
It occurs to him he didn’t know much about what Hiroshi’s voice sounded like until they started spending more time together. He has a nice voice, quiet but enjoyable enough to listen to, and Katsu likes listening to him talk. He can’t really imagine why the rest of the Kiriyama Family is so much more insistent on never listening to him no matter what he says.
By the time they reach the mall, they still have a solid fifteen minutes left before they’re due to meet Yuichiro and Sho, so Katsu clears his throat, intent to fill the silence. “Why would Sho think you were going to teach me how to skateboard, anyway?”
“He’s just being an ass for no reason,” Hiroshi says, pushing his hair back out of his eyes before smiling again, the corners of his eyes crinkling once again. “I’ve never taught anyone how to board before. I wouldn’t know where to begin, I kinda just watched videos and tried to emulate what I saw. Whether it worked or not, I just gave it a shot. I’ve learned some from it.”
Katsu winks at him, then immediately feels like an idiot for doing it. “Well, sometimes you’re doing a really great job as far as I can tell. Practice makes perfect, I guess.”
“You’re a good guy, Hatagami. Surprising for a jock,” Hiroshi says.
“Fair enough. I guess you guys don’t do well with the jocks.” Katsu himself hasn’t had any run-ins with the rest of the Kiriyama Family, but then he tended to keep himself out of trouble as much as humanly possible. “I spend most of my time with Yuichiro, so I wouldn’t know.”
Hiroshi shrugs at him after a minute, pulling his beanie off and running his fingers through his messy hair. “I know the others have had issues with them. I tend to keep to myself, so.”
“Just not much of a fighter, I guess?” Katsu asks. He’s curious for more reasons than one, but really he’s just trying to get to know Hiroshi better, too.
“It’s not my scene. I know why they do it, at least I know why Mitsuru does it, but I’ve always just been along for the ride. I’m not a great fighter.” Hiroshi shrugs, flexing his knuckles, which are scraped from where he’d fallen on one of the ramps. “Mitsuru is like… An amazing fighter, and Kazuo is better, and then Sho and Ryuhei only fight if they have to.”
Katsu hums and nods; he’s seen as much himself when he’s seen people fighting with one another around the building and more than once, the Kiriyama Family has ended up in fights in very public parts of the school building. Most of those fights have been with gangs from other classes and even older grades; after all, most of the members of 3-B stay away from them and those that do occasionally deal with them are more than capable of holding their own in a fight. Shinji and his friends in particular, though Sho and Yuichiro’s relationship has been able to keep most of the normal arguments from taking place.
“I will say one thing, though. Watching Kazuo and Mitsuru fight is better than watching a martial arts movie. They’re real, you know? It’s so cool.” HIroshi grins the familiar expression that Katsu has seen on Sho’s and Ryuhei’s faces when they talk about Kazuo.
“I’ll have to take your word for it.” Katsu shrugs a shoulder at him, leaning his back against one of the pillars nearby. “When the fights start, I usually get Yuichiro out of there as fast as I can so we don’t get mixed up in it. But I’ve heard those two are pretty good at what they do.”
Hiroshi drops his skateboard on the ground, planting his foot on the surface of it and rolling it back and forth slowly. “Those two are making us wait an awfully long time.”
“It’s not so bad, I don’t think, spending time together.” Katsu presses his lips together as soon as the words come out, fixing his gaze firmly ahead, refusing to look at Hiroshi.
“Is that right? I wouldn’t have thought anyone enjoyed spending time with me.” Hiroshi laughs, but it doesn’t seem like it’s meant to be self-depreciating so much as it sounds like just another thing to say out loud. “Thanks for letting me know, man. Kind of nice to hear that, actually.”
Katsu shrugs, still refusing to take his eyes off of what he realizes is a doorway into an alternative clothing store. “Not a problem. Besides, you know how people in relationships are when they get carried away with each other. Maybe they’re just off somewhere with each other and haven’t noticed the time. Don’t Mitsuru and Kazuo ever do that?”
“You think I really pay that much attention to them? Hell, if they disappear with each other, that’s their business.” Hiroshi leans over, nudging Katsu in the ribs with an elbow. “C’mon, let’s get something to eat. They can catch up, but there’s no use to stand here waiting.”
By the time Sho and Yuichiro catch up with them, they’re already settled at a table, eating while Hiroshi regails Katsu with another story of the Kiriyama Family getting into trouble. Katsu is laughing so hard his ribs ache and when Yuichiro just smiles at him before shaking his head and turning away, Katsu doesn’t know what to say.
It isn’t like Hiroshi hasn’t had crushes on boys before. That would be a stupid thing to think, but because most people don’t pay very much attention to him, he’s managed to get away with it. No one notices the occasional long, lingering stare he gives to cute guys he sees around the city, so he’s kind of let it ride out. He’s given the same looks to girls, and no one has really noticed that either. He himself hasn’t thought much about it, not interested enough in anyone to pursue them. He isn’t Sho and wouldn’t know how to go about being like that.
He notices the crush on Hatagami. Of course he does. He isn’t blind to the way he feels, isn’t completely unaware of who he is as a person. But he also doesn’t do anything about it, because he never has and he honestly sees no reason to go about changing that now.
The weird dynamic he’s been living in for most of his life, half unseen by others and half ignored by those who do notice him, has never been a problem for him before. He’s been happy enough to live exactly like this for years and though he should probably at least talk to someone about this, he doesn’t. He files it away as just another experience to have in life and decides he’s going to ride it out the way he’s ridden out everything else before.
He doesn’t think anything of the time they spend just with each other, doesn’t think anything of the times when they separate from the others and go off on their own. Has no reason to think it’s anything but them getting away from the others for a little bit. Nothing seems overly weird about it, at least not to him. Maybe it’s because he’s never had a reason to see a difference.
When Katsu offers to go to the skate park with him or invites him to a baseball game, he doesn’t think anything about it. Why would he? After all, it’s not any different from people pairing off and leaving groups of friends to get a little bit of peace and quiet. And he comes to the games because Katsu watches him skate, it only seems fair enough. He doesn’t really understand most of the rules of baseball but it’s at least something to do to pass the time.
Sho probably would have called him stupid if he had noticed the slight change in the relationship that Katsu and Hiroshi had. Most people probably would have noticed if they were looking for it, but in the same way the Kiriyama Family hardly paid attention to Hiroshi, Katsu and Yuichiro’s friends followed suit. No one really saw any difference in the way they acted toward each other.
Today is no different. Hiroshi is dividing his attention between the last chunk of the baseball game, close to wrapping up with Katsu’s team still in the lead, and his cell phone where he’s half-following the Kiriyama Family group chat. It’s been a lot less hectic and snappy lately given that Sho and Mitsuru are no longer arguing over Kazuo, but Hiroshi has been reading it more than actually following it. None of it really catches his attention otherwise.
Predictably, Katsu’s team wins the game, and Hiroshi catches up with him outside of the locker room, tipping him a nod. “You guys did a pretty good job out there from what I can tell.”
“Well, we did win.” Katsu has his duffel bag over one shoulder and is holding his bat in one hand, the smooth wood propped against his other shoulder. “So even if you don’t know much about baseball, you know enough to know we were better than the other team was.”
“Yeah, you’re right there,” Hiroshi chuckles. They can at least agree on that.
Katsu is quiet for a moment as they walk, then clears his throat and shifts his bat from one hand to the other. “Look, I’m sure you notice Yuichiro isn’t here. Did it ever occur to you that there’s a reason that he might not be here?”
“...Now that you mention it, I kinda noticed he wasn’t here when I got here and he’s never missed one of your games. At least, that’s what you told me.” Hiroshi rolls that thought around in his head for a few minutes. If Yuichiro had missed this game, did that mean something had come up? “He’s okay, isn’t he? Nothing happened to him, did it?”
“No, he’s fine. He didn’t miss the game because something happened,” Katsu says softly.
Hiroshi cocks his head at this, rolling that thought around in his head with the others before shrugging his shoulders. “I can’t think of why he wouldn’t be here, then.”
“I asked him not to come, actually. Told him it would be a good idea to spend some time with Sho.” Katsu is quiet again and Hiroshi nods. That makes sense, of course, especially if Katsu is worried that Yuichiro and Sho don’t have enough opportunities to spend time together. “He didn’t really ask about it beyond that, but that’s not the real reason I asked him not to come.”
“Oh? Well, it’s really up to you at the end of the day what you want to do. It’s your game, after all.” Hiroshi shrugs it off. Truthfully, he doesn’t think very much about it. If Katsu had wanted Yuichiro not to come, so be it. It’s nobody’s business but his, after all.
Katsu sighs and shakes his head, and an uncertain smile tugs at the corners of his lips. “I might not understand getting frustrated enough with your friends that you lose track of them or get angry with them, but I can understand why some people can get frustrated with you.”
“Why’s that?” Hiroshi asks, cocking his head at him.
“You don’t really question things that people say to you, and when people are trying to leave you hints and you don’t get them…” Katsu shrugs. “Do you see where I’m going with this?”
Hiroshi hums and nods, then thumps Katsu on the back. “Just tell me outright then!”
“I asked him not to come today because I wanted to talk to you alone. One on one. And I knew if Yuichiro was here then Sho would probably come and I didn’t want to try to explain why I wanted to talk to you alone to him.” Katsu stops walking and Hiroshi stops with him, cocking his head up at him. “I’ve been thinking about how to tell you and when to tell you for a long time now. There was probably a better way to do this than to invite you to a baseball game.”
“Well, I don’t mind being here, you know. Coming to see you play. Even if I don’t know all the rules or know how everything works, I still like seeing you play.” Hiroshi doesn’t really know what else to say. He’s not entirely sure what the hell Katsu is even talking about right now.
Katsu chews on his lower lip for a few minutes before resting a hand on Hiroshi’s shoulder, giving it a light squeeze and managing a small smile. “I’ve kinda figured that out as time goes by. And that’s cool, and I like having you here even if you don’t get it because at least you’re here trying to understand and trying to keep up. You know, that means a lot to me. I mean it.”
“Good to know, I guess.” Hiroshi’s hands twitch, and he starts playing with his beanie to find a way to deal with it. “Look, my man, I was serious. If you don’t tell me outright to my face I’m not going to understand what you’re trying to say.”
“I guess I’m just trying to say that, like…” Katsu trails off, biting down firmly on his bottom lip.
Leaning a little closer, Hiroshi taps him on the shoulder. “Out with it. Tell me so I know.”
“When Yuichiro was staring at Sho’s chair, I thought he was looking at yours and I told myself that if he was, I’d have to step back and let him do his thing.” Katsu falls quiet again while Hiroshi just stares at him, furrowing his brows at him. Is he trying to say what it sounds like he’s trying to say? “I want him to be happy, you know, he’s my best friend. But I was so glad that it was Sho, and not you, because that meant that I could still… Still try to talk to you, and—”
“You’re saying a whole lot of words that don’t amount to very much. Just tell me outright what’s going on,” Hiroshi says. He doesn’t want to say it himself. He can’t.
Katsu laughs softly and shakes his head, giving himself a shake before taking a step closer and putting both of his hands on Hiroshi’s shoulders. He’s taller and stronger and when he squeezes Hiroshi’s shoulders, his knees weaken momentarily. “I’m saying I have a crush on you, Hiroshi.”
It takes a solid week for anyone else to notice. Katsu makes sure to tell Yuichiro flat-out as soon as it happens because he gives his best friend the benefit of the doubt about everything between the two of them. But he keeps it between just them, deciding he’ll let everybody else figure it out for themselves when they pay a little more attention. Hiroshi always manages to fly under the radar, that much Katsu knows, and he decides to let the others figure things out in their own time. After all, he doesn’t need anyone else to know.
Hiroshi still shows up to all of his games when he can and Katsu walks with him to the skate park when the weather is nice enough to justify them being outside. Even though he still doesn’t know all or even most of the rules, he’s figuring it out bit by bit. He’s figured out enough to know when Katsu is playing at his best, and he lets him know if he slips up, too.
It’s during one of those games when Katsu hits a particularly impressive home run, one that soars over the far end of the fence, that the others find out. He rounds the bases as he’s supposed to, and when he’s heading back to sit down, he sees Hiroshi standing next to the fence, waving at him with both arms and a huge grin on his face.
So Katsu walks up to him instead, and the fence isn’t that tall to begin with, so there’s nothing to stop them from meeting over the top of the fence, Hiroshi jumping up and grabbing Katsu by the shoulders to pull him down. Katsu knows what he wants and is quick to agree, leaning down enough that their lips meet, a congratulatory kiss that warms him all the way through.
He can hear his teammates cheering at his back and can’t help but smile against Hiroshi’s lips, slipping a hand under his beanie and tangling his fingers in the hair on the back of his head to hold him still. He’ll probably get some crap from his coach for causing such a stir but he’s always been one of the best players on the team, so he’ll be fine.
Besides, he’s not going to apologize for kissing his boyfriend to anyone.
It’s when he pulls back, catching the smile on Hiroshi’s face that probably perfectly mirrors his own, that he hears Sho Tsukioka’s voice rise above everyone else’s, the disbelief ringing loud and clear above the rest of the chatter from the people watching and the players on the teams.
“Are you telling me that someone likes fucking Hiroshi?”

9 years ago, I made a friend. He sat in front of me in chemistry, and was the only one who was nice the extremely awkward guy he sat next to. The whole class was friends, mostly because I went to an insanely small school and I was one of the only ones in the class who wasn't a part of the after school LA marathon training program. He had a not so secret crush on my friend, and started being nice to me as a way to get closer to her. Eventually, he and I became close and spent the next two years hanging out as much as possible. I usually got off work around the time practice got out, so I would give him a ride home from school a lot of the time which usually resulted in him having dinner with me and my family. My mom and sisters adored him, and he quickly became part of the family. He was my rock through break ups, friend fights, my parents divorce, and so much more. Looking back now, I have no idea what I did for him aside from the occasionally ride home and dinner. I leaned on him for everything, and never really had the chance to pay him back. A year ahead of me, he went off to college my senior year of high school and the world felt like a much lonelier place with him gone. Thankfully, his school was only an hour away, so I went to visit when I could and while he was obviously making new friends and changing to fit his new environment, but things between us were as easy as ever. He would still come visit my family, usually staying over, and made sure to be there for my little sister’s birthday and was the only one who was able to cheer her up when none of her friends showed up to her party. I moved away after I graduated, and while we didn’t see each other as much, we stayed in touch through texts and phone calls. His first serious girlfriend cheated on him and ended things and I helped him through it. My loser high school boyfriend strung me along and broke my heart yet again, and he was there for me through all of it. Whenever I came to visit my family in Southern California, we would get together for lunch or dinner or whatever we could make time for. I remember one time he had to get me from the airport, and I ended up staying with him because my mom’s house was too crowded with all my new step siblings. I was there over the weekend and on Sunday his grandparents came to take him to breakfast after church. He met them outside, so I took the morning to shower and get ready before going to spend the day with my family. He had let me stay in his room, sleeping on the couch himself, so when I got out of the shower I was walking down the hall to his room and was surprised to see his extremely catholic grandparents standing in his room, looking at my clothes lying on the floor and my towel dress and I introduced myself and tried to explain that I was just visiting for the weekend and that he had been kind enough to let me sleep in his bed while he slept on the couch. To make matters even worse, I had left a pack of cigarettes out on the kitchen counter, so I am now remembered as the smoker skank in the towel out to corrupt their grandson.
After that visit we didn't see each other as much, it became too expensive to be constantly going back and forth to visit and he made some friends I wasn't very fond of. Nonetheless, when I moved back in with my mom in 2015, he was excited to hear it, and promised we would hang out all the time once I was back.
6 months after I’d moved back he finally remembered I existed and we went out to dinner, then I stayed over at his house after to get some space from my family. One of his new roommates was a guy we’d went to high school with who I had never particularly liked, but was forced to be nice to because well I wasn’t trying to be a bitch. Things seemed back to normal, until my mom made a passing comment about how he had always liked my so much. I had, probably obviously, always had feelings for him on some level, but had always ignored them, not wanting to make things awkward. But hearing that he had had feelings for me as well brought back a flood of memories of him telling me he loved me, how he was so glad to have me in his life, how he didn’t know what he’d do without me, complimenting me when he knew I’d taken time to do my hair or makeup, lingering hugs and glances, our recent conversation about hanging out New Years Eve and getting a midnight kiss, etc. Suddenly it all seemed so obvious. I pushed the feelings away, telling myself that things were finally normal again and it wasn’t worth it to shake things up. A few weeks later, I was visiting friends in Monterey and ran into a guy I had gone on a few dates with when I lived there. One thing led to another, and we wound up back at his apartment. We were making out pretty heavily, about to have sex, and suddenly it hit me that I didn't want to be there. I didn't want this cute boy who would no doubt treat be well and I could have a fun relationship with. I started to cry, and apologize, and cry some more and try to gather my clothes and explain that I had to go, and then realized I was in no state to drive and slept on his couch. I snuck out early the next morning and called my best friend to tell her what had happened and that I had decided it was time to come clean about my feelings.
I came home and asked if we could hang out, saying I needed grown up hang out time after spending too much time with my teenage chick fil a coworkers. We went on a booze run after I got there, and from there the night got fuzzy. I remember it in flashes, drinking beer, smoking hookah with his roommates, smoking cigarettes on the porch, drinking more, watching Borat, me complaining about how terrible Borat was, arguing about my idiot high school boyfriend, me yelling that I hated him for ruining my life and being told to be quiet because it was late. Somehow we end up kissing on his bed. Then more kissing. Then we're having sex. Then the next morning I look over and we’re both naked and I have no idea how it happened or what to do next. I put my dress back on and go outside to have a cigarette and call a friend, who of course doesn't answer because its 6am on a Sunday and normal people aren’t awake. I come back in and he’s in the shower, so I get my stuff together and get ready to leave. He comes back in and gets back into bed and we just lie there talking for a while and I’m so relieved because it seems like maybe everything is fine.
Two years later, and I haven’t seen him since that morning. I’ve reached out several times through call and text, and at first he would answer, but then disappear when I tried to make plans to hang out. I kept telling myself that if we could just hang out again, he would see that things could go back to normal and we could still be friends, but it just never happened. Admittedly, I could have handled things better. I texted more than I maybe should have, left at least one angry, emotional, drunken voicemail in which I professed my love for him and told him how horrible ditching me after what had happened was. But still. after so many years of being friends, I feel that we owed it to each other to at least try to fix things. Not that they necessarily even needed fixing.
Have you had your heart broken by your best friend? The one person you always thought would be there for you, no matter what? The person you opened up to and shared every single insecurity and broken piece of yourself with. The person who you looked up to and looked forward to. I began to second guess everything about our friendship, about myself, about my other friendships. I kept thinking, if I was so obviously wrong about this relationship, who's to say I’m not wrong about all my other relationships as well? Maybe nobody actually likes me, I’m just a means to an end and once they finally get what they want out of me, they’ll drop me too. I had one night stand after one night stand, telling myself that all these guys wanted me, who needed him? Thinking that if I could reject anyone who wanted anything more from me than just one night, I could even the playing field for how brutally I felt I had been rejected.
I don't know. All I know is I have been beating myself up over the last two years trying to figure out what I did wrong, why I wasn't worth answering or granting closure to. And its been long enough. I’ve cried more time than I care to admit, vented about it more times than I can count, and destroyed my self confidence trying to make sense of why I wasn’t good enough, and its time to let go.
SO. This post is me letting go. getting it all out in the open so I can finally stop obsessing over it and move on with my life.
If anyone out there actually read through all of this, thank you.
