The Enchanted Mountains
For the last part of my final project, I decided to paint the mountains surrounding Bonaventure. I used warm colors to depict the colorful trees in the fall. I think it is truly one of the most beautiful sights to see in the fall. I love looking out my window every day to see these mountains and I will definitely miss these views after I graduate.

This is my encouraging post-it part of the project. When I was shopping at BJ's I figured it was a good spot considering there might be a lot of people who see it. I stuck them on the mirror in the women's restroom. I hope it will make anyone who sees them happy and confident, and hopefully they could also spread the same energy to others.

Here is the nature portion of my final project. I went into the grass near my driveway and picked some dandelions to create a smiley face. I hope that my roommates and housemates can see this and it will put a smile on their faces. I liked using the dandelions because there are so many of them and the color really pops with the green background from the grass.

For my painting I chose the tower from one of my favorite disney cartoons, Tangled. The picture of the tower is very memorable and a key scene in the movie that showed a lot of color saturation. I imitated Van Gogh’s style in my painting in the background with swirls and for the plants by dabbing my brush on the canvas.

For this week’s art project assignment, the highly saturated & fantasy-based environment that I chose to depict was the yellow brick road and Emerald City from The Wizard of Oz. I thought this environment fit perfectly for the assignment, and The Wizard of Oz is one of my all time favorite movies. I used paint as my medium and focused on my brush strokes being noticeable like Van Gogh’s.

For my Earth Art, I chose to make a circle of rocks around some flowers because I thought it represented the circle of life. The circle has been depicted since the beginning of time mostly as a symbol of unity, harmony, and wholeness. One popular circle symbol that comes to mind is the Yin Yang symbol which represents the balance of light and dark in Chinese culture. A circle is also a symbol of eternity because it is never ending line, which is why wedding rings have become a symbol of marriage or the eternal bond between two people. In addition to unity and eternity, circles can also represent a lot of astronomical elements like the sun, moon, and planets.

For my nature piece I tried to portray a woman out of rocks. For years we have seen woman prized and pitted in art. I used natural materials I found around my yard. I focused on placing the body of the figure in this ring or daisies. I thought their natural growth pattern could create a halo affect and bring feelings of celebration to the piece.

Here is my Keith Haring inspired artwork! I used specific colors that he often used in his work. After I finished my drawing, the lady passing by commented on how cute it was. This made me smile, and I am glad that I was able to make her smile.

I chose to use the spiral as my shape for this weeks assignment. In my research, I have found out what the spiral has represented throughout time. This includes the changing seasons and cycle of life with birth, growth, death, and re-incarnation. In ancient times, the spiral can also be a symbol of the Sun, which could have believed to be a portal into a spirit world.
As a symbol of change, it represents how everything must change overtime, nothing can be stagnant while living. It also depicts our never ending journey of knowledge. There is always room to grow in life and everyday is a chance to make change for the better and to bring goodness into the world.
I used the rocks that I found in nature and placed them at the corner of my street for everyone that walks by to see.

This week it was unfortunately a little tough for me to get out into nature. I did the best I could and looked for some pretty rocks and found some beautiful purple flowers. I liked using rocks with different shapes and colors to represent my unique features. The purple flowers added more color to the silhouette.

For my Eva Hesse inspired piece, I decided to recreate example 2 while using different colors and slightly different shapes. I liked how she uses the paint and it is not in a perfect circle or square, there are smudges that you can see and it makes the piece even better. Her shapes are also not always the same size which is cool because each one is a little bit different.

Paige, I love this so much! I think the flowers are so cute and they do go really well with the colors of the bottle!

For my arte povera project, I decided to paint a bottle that I found outside of my house. I thought that picking up trash outside and turning it into something cute is a good representation of the arte provera movement. I decided to paint some flowers on the bottle and I chose colors that I thought would go well with the colors of the bottle.

For my arte povera piece, I was inspired while cleaning out the snack drawer in my house. I had fun putting this piece together and making the background as colorful as the candy wrappers!

Parker, I think you have artistically developed so much throughout the course! This is a great piece I think the meaning behind all of your works are awesome and inspiring!

For my abstract midterm I decided to paint Sam Smiths grammy performance of his song unholy. I tried to replicate the aura that he created by using black as a background and then making him bright red In the center. The hardest part was the hands of the extras that were grazing him while he performed but I think it came out alright. No matter how you look at this performance it is down right strange.
Throughout the past year or so I have noticed and immense amount of satanism in pop culture mainly in Hollywood. This happened to be just blatant blasphemy but if you look a little deeper there is satanic symbolism everywhere espically in our music industry. Modern day rappers like Lil Uzi Vert, Trippie Redd, Billie Ellish and many more have also done perfromances like this worshiping the devil. It’s very scary and even scarier to think why they are doing this. What exactly is influencing so many promenent figures in our culture to endorse satanism? Does it having something to do with how they got famous? Whatever you may believe you can’t deny that this stuff is out there and the harder you look the worse it gets. God Bless Everyone!!

For my assignment, I decided to use my friend Cassidy as a model. She is beautiful inside and out. Some of the ways that Cassidy does not conform to society's beauty standards is with her nose piercings, and I think they are super cool.
Interview Questions:
"My advice for the future generation is to ignore the beauty standards that are set on social media. It is easier said than done, but it is important to remember that every picture on social media can be edited and it most of the time is not accurately representing what is actually going on. Social media only highlights the good parts of people's lives. It is also important to not compare yourself to others, each and every person is beautiful in their own ways."
"When I was younger, I feel like I used to wear things and do things to try and fit in, thinking that people would like me more. I wasn't happy during this time because I was not being myself. The way to truly be happy is to be yourself and you will find the right people who love you for who you are. Once I realized this, it became easy for me to not be influenced to be someone I am not by conforming to beauty standards."
"Today, I am inspired by Selena Gomez. She was always one of my favorite celebrities since I was younger watching her on Disney Channel. She often states that she is taking breaks from social media, and I think that is important for everyone to once in a while take a little break. With all the drama going on around her, she still remains a polite, beautiful, and kind soul."

Cj, great job! This is very inspiring. I totally agree that celebrities using photoshop is problematic and gives people unattainable beauty goals.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For my midterm assignment I decided to use this picture of Brad Pitt. Although this photoshop may not be as obvious as other celebrities like the Kardashians, things like this are seen my celebrities almost every day.
Celebrities often use Photoshop or other photo editing tools to enhance their pictures and present an idealized version of themselves to the public. This can be problematic for society because it creates unrealistic beauty standards and perpetuates an unattainable and harmful idea of perfection. It can also contribute to feelings of inadequacy and low self-esteem among those who compare themselves to the edited images.
