KIRK: WHY [PAUSE] MUST-HE-DIE? Why--within eight days? Explain.

What an excellent time for the Shatner Pause. Shatner's choice to deliver these lines as he does--to stress the whys and the must, add the pause, and say the rest normal speed which makes it sound faster than it is--makes it as if Kirk is thinking his way through what he has just been told in real-time, and the words come tumbling together as it all hits: He's the captain and the ship's chief medical officer is telling him that Spock--his first officer, his science officer, and his friend--will certainly die. Kirk is confronted with the finality of McCoy's prognosis and has nowhere to go to avoid it.

MCCOY: I don't know. KIRK: You keep saying that. Are you a doctor or aren't you?

That flare of emotion in response to McCoy's "I don't know"! The last time Kirk looked like that, it was Operation: Annihilate and Kirk expected McCoy to work a miracle, despite McCoy's reservations about the cure working and risking Spock's eyesight. What a terrible weight McCoy has to bear, both from his own conscience and Kirk's expectations of the impossible. (I hope Kirk got him his choice of alcohol after the events of the episode. McCoy deserves it for keeping his wits about him during all of this.)

McCoy states that "there's a growing imbalance of body functions" and that Spock will be killed by "the physical and emotional pressures." How ironic, perhaps, to have the half-Vulcan, half-human character set to die in such a manner: imbalanced internally, down to his very biology, torn between the physical impacts of too much adrenaline to the body (most notably heart damage owing to the increased heart rate and high blood pressure; the other irony is adrenaline can create a loss of appetite and slows the metabolism, yet to alter one's eating habits and start suddenly refusing food is stressful to the body) and the mental impacts of the emotions (to a Vulcan such as Spock, the world is ending for him by this alone, to be confronted by the anger, fear, and anxiety unleashed by the adrenaline).

"No use to ask him, Jim. He won't talk."

And Kirk leaves to confront Spock. This will not be the first time someone will claim Spock won't talk (T'Pau's incredulous, "Thee speaks?") and this will also not be the first time that Kirk will be told not to do something regarding Spock (McCoy advising him against taking the fight, T'Pau telling him not to interfere, and T'Pau giving him a chance to leave.) In other words, call it a challenge and Kirk's decision is to meet it.

yn’s froze at the contact, her face heating up as yujin pulled her in.

Okay, so this is regarding that fantastic anon I got over the totally absent DomiTrent content in socials. There I shared my reasonable (or so I think) opinion on the matter, so here's the very unhinged one.

Just as a reminder, this is pure fun, I made it all up, based on speculation, I don't know anything and none of this is factual. Now, that we got that out of the way, let's do this.

So, we all know and remember (and grieve and miss!) September, the literal peak of DomiTrent, right? It all started when Trent assisted Domi's first ever goal for the club they had that very cute celebration. DomiTrent thruthers were born that day. Then, literally every Inside video we have, they are suddenly next to each other. The sm media only have themselves to blame, because it was them who launched them first when they posted them hugging and laughing and arriving to training together! This kept happening, I mean them being literally obsessed with each other. And the official socials were milking the heck out of it!!

The scenes when these dropped? Girly, they dedicated half of that Inside video to them! They KNEW what they were doing with including a literal clip of Trent sniffling and clinging to Domi like a coala. Engagements were flying.

By this time, they were all over, everywhere. Neither of them could give an interview without being asked about each other. People were obsessed with them, and the sm media was very aware of that. They were posting singular posts about just the two of them having the most basic interactions, they were totally milking it. The fact that Mo posted them together on the hot tube only added to the fire.😭

Then, the bum tickling/fingering controversy happens. Bumm. It's unexpected and uncontrollable. They were just literally caught on live, there's no editing them out, making it a certain way, nope, it's out of control and it's everywhere. And I mean everywhere. And while we were having a field day here, not everyone was... There are hundreds of comments like this (and this is only twt):

At this point, there are viral tweets going on how both of them, especially Dominik is gay. News just dropped he broke up with his girlfriend, too. First, its all fun, clearly a joke, then it's just like the tweets show, it reaches a certain circle. It reached the Hungarian media too. Now, there are close-minded, homophobic older football fans, and there are Hungarian close-minded, homophobic older football fans. Let's just say, it did not look good.

Right after the whole bum-touching incident, Szoboszlai's dad goes to a Hungarian live broadcasting of the next Liverpool match. Of course, they pull the video out about him and Trent and ask him about it, basically, that what is Dominik doing, looks like he got comfortable in LFC already. It was light-hearted, the question, his dad response ... seemingly too,or at least tried very hard to be to. I think there was pa certain edge to it. They were trying to ask about Dominik's bromance with Trent, as most journalists did at the time, but he dismissed the whole thing and cut the conversation short with only saying that "He [Dominik] likes to clown around".

(He said "bohóckodni", which does mean clown in mirror translation. It could be also translated as joking around, but jokes imply that it's fun and light-hearted, not to be taken seriously, while what he said, again, had some real edge to it. Kind of like "fool around". A disapproving tone to it, basically.)

After that, silence. No more DomiTrent content, they even got moved in the training from being in the same group. To me, for a time, It looked like the sm team was actually going out their way not to show them together. Like the first game they had a post about them was when, against City, showing a pre-match training shorts video? That's a bit odd, considering that they were living off posting of the two just literally breathing next to each other.

So, here's what I think. I think Dominik's management did not like what was being assumed about him. That he was building up a reputation of being the "new gay acting guy, obsessed with Trent". It's not something, that at the moment, could be accepted. Not in football, and definitely not in the Hungarian footballing world. When his dad was asked about it in live TV, I think that was the last straw. I don't think he was impressed/happy about Dominik in that regard, that this was even something that people brought up and connected his son with. I think, essentially, pressured by his dad (who admittedly still have a huge influence in his life, on his agent), his team must have told the Liverpool sm team to basically stop showing them together to silence those shouts.

Again, this could have been done by the Liverpool sm team, done or supported by Trent's team, the players themselves, anything and anyone, we don't know. We don't even know if it was really an intentional move to quit showing them together. I think it was, In my mind, have no question about that. What I shared above tho? Bit of fanfiction-like😭 but in my mind, based on how his dad reacted and just the culture/Domi's relationship with his dad, could totally see it.

RvB Survey Results Video - Favorite Character Intros

Hello everyone! I know @asphodeldreams will probably be making a post of his own about it since his blog is primarily where we're hosting all of the survey stuff, but I did want to make a particular post about this here since this has been pretty much all I have done for the past couple weeks.

This video is a compilation of all of the answers we received to the question of "Most memorable character introduction?", which we received roughly 259 answers for out of the 308 people who took the survey (full disclosure for transparency, asphodel and I also took the survey and added in our own answers. those numbers are included in the 259/308. answers where someone wrote in multiple intros were split apart and counted for each character submitted. if my math in the video doesn't add up please let me know, i did my best but math and I don't get along very well.)

If you have any questions about why I made a choice I made, or have any other questions / comments / concerns, then feel free to shoot me an ask or comment on this post! I plan on trying to make a few more videos like this for some of the other questions, but with grad school starting up next month my free time is gonna be a bit more spread around, so that will probably be a slow process. This is really more of a bonus, anyways - just something to help people visualize some of the results a bit better, doesn't actually impact when we upload new batches of results. It's also a great way for me to practice my video editing skills so I can feel justified in keeping that on my resume, lol. more detailed information about how i did the tallying / editing is under the read more (what the video refers to as “the description), but I hope y'all enjoy :)

Some characters are shown with just one clip, while others may have multiple. Reasons why some have multiple include, but are not limited to; - Being initially introduced in a mini-series, and providing a main series clip in addition - Re-introductions of the character at a later point - I couldn't find one good clip to use for the video - I really just wanted to use a second clip for that character, lol

So some characters have multiple clips, and some have longer clips because I could not find a good way to cohesively edit certain scenes.

If multiple people suggested the same scene for multiple characters, then for the most part those characters are generally all just lumped in with whoever had the most votes.

When I was initially trying to get it onto YouTube, I made a few editing changes - like putting music under some Season One clips. After giving up on YouTube, I removed all the visual effects I added, but left some of the music because otherwise the scene just sounded really quiet mixed in with everything else, and I had grown rather fond of some of the music spots. Also, I did my best to kind of equalize the audio mixing, but I definitely didn't get it perfect. Shouldn't be anything too surprisingly loud, though.

This took me Way longer to make than I would care to admit, and I had a nightmare of a time trying (and failing) to get it past YouTube Content ID, but it's finally up now and ready for all to see :)

Call Of Duty MWIII - SPOILERS

Below, some clips + videos from MWIII where we'll analyse what happened to Soap.

After sharing them, however, I would like to say a few things (if you not interested in this, I understand, but please: just skip that part as I really need to vent about the matter; my apologies).

Now, the clips.

Let's start with the Soap's death (full video will be uploaded in a separate post because it deserves respect):

Wanting to deliberately leave out the fact that Makarov had complete freedom to engage a firefight without being captured (the idiotic run after killing Soap is truly ridiculous compared to Makarov in MW3), what is inevitable to do is, for me, to compare the dynamics with something already seen: does this scene remind you of anything? No? Maybe this will jog your memory:

This is in addition to what said by Makarov to Captain Price:

"Never bury your enemies alive". Who else was buried alive if not Ghost himself (according to '09 backstory)? This could justify the lack of an official backstory for Ghost 22: would Soap's death be his true downfall into the underworld? Mh.

Speaking of him, I so resent Soap's death for many reasons (which I'll discuss shortly), but above all because by killing him, they also killed Ghost: one shot, two deaths. Ghost had started to live again thanks to Soap, and it was with him that he died, too. Until the end, he was stood next to him because ''no one fights alone''. The fact that, even under the threat of a bomb capable of neutralizing half the world, Ghost chose to remain next to Soap as he bled to death to me is everything. The stone-cold man, detached and attached only to the field manual (where friendship does not even appear), he is the one who SCREAMS his sergeant's name. Let's hear the pain in his voice:

Sure, it could be a standard reaction of any man who sees his teammate killed before his eyes, but no one would expect such a reaction from the 'stone-cold man'. But a mask isn't enough to hide the pain: He's lost; his eyes roaming for help:

He's out of breath, his chest moving up and down as if he's not just catching his breath, but holding back an explosion. Cry? Tears? Anger?

I slowed down this part to highlight how the head-shake was not just to confirm the death, indicating that there was nothing left to be done, but it was personal: he can't believe his eyes, and his heavy breathing confirms it.

At that precise moment, they didn't just kill Ghost; they killed Simon, too.

In fact, in the clip below (I cut+slowed it) it's Simon (see the mask) who takes care of Johnny after his death: he keeps Johnny in his backpack, holds the urn from start to finish, he has the task of scattering the ashes in what appears to be a Scottish's mountain, and he is the one who brings HIM back home with him.

He is family.

It's precisely when talking about family that I can't stop thinking about the quantity of ashes in his urn. The amount of ashes is small: what if half the ashes went to Soap's family and Ghost kept the other half?

Also, Soap has managed to make himself loved by everyone, and this is why I consider this scene (pic below) to be of fundamental importance: the act of adding his nickname stands for: ''you were not a soldier, but something dear to me''.

The document is drawn up by Laswell, the one who protected Task Force 141 from behind the scenes even when General Shepherd had betrayed them, showing that the relationship between them all goes far beyond the working one:

it is a matter of heart.

It's for this reason that I feel like I must say some things about all this: there is so much to say actually but, as absurd as it may be, I felt the strong need to take some time for myself and understand what to do with this pain. As a player and historical supporter of the COD saga, I can say that in 20 years I have never seen the fandom as active, lively and full of passion as in 2022.

As I already explained, it was vital to me that AV gave Soap another chance after mw3. Sure, it's a war videogame and deaths are therefore inevitable, but killing the same character twice with the sole hope of making us hate Makarov so as to have more hype for the next COD (which, personally, I doubt will follow this arc since I define it now concluded although there are still unresolved issues) it was a stupid move to make, because by doing so we are hating AV, not Price or Makarov himself.

Furthermore, what is most infuriating is that if the COD family has started to be so creative and enthusiastic again, it is above all thanks to Saop (and to our Neil along with others VA; unfortunately, not every one of them).

Each of the protagonists in MWII was perfect, earning a special place in our hearts, but it is clear that Soap and the relationship established with Ghost were the catalyst of definitive affection that connected us so deeply to the reboot, leading us to buy even a new game that, more than a campaign, more than a DLC, is a scam:

rushed dialogues, too many characters piled on top of each other, typical warzone game dynamics with such a short duration that each level becomes chaotic etc etc etc… 2, maximum 3 hours later, we find ourselves with a Soap killed, slaughtered and left to die with total dullness and without any emotional focus DURING our game without even receiving a cutscene dedicated to him.

And, as if that wasn't enough, by killing him, Ghost was also indirectly killed: for once, perhaps for the first real time, that man - always represented as cold - had found a family and something, someone to hold on to : taking it, taking HIM, away from him, they demolished two people with a single shot.

Atrocious.

Treating one of the characters who has practically supported the entire current COD fortune on his shoulders in this way is, for me, a great injustice, as well as a stupid move.

Again, I don't hate Makarov; I hate AV.

Soap 22 will forever be our comfort zone, because he has never been just a video game character, but our home.

method acting asks!!!

eek. been so down in the dumps w/ writing lately and feel increasingly guilty that I haven't updated a chapter since like new year's eve?? that being said, I have TRIED to write the chapter - end up scratching the dumpster fire i've written bc its simultaneously not good enough for the people who wait for chapters but also bc ive put so much work into the story that I don't want it to be bad. i'm trying to get my BAD WRITING out of my system to get back to the good so I may deliver only the best! that being said, i have mapped out the rest of the story and put the chapter names of the ten (I am sorry) chapters left on the masterlist! (free to ur interpretation pookies)

I have never watched the maze runner - so I will take your word for it + let people discourse on who minho is. that being said, I have seen that one video of the cast on zoom like reading the script and all of them keep laughing which seems very on brand for like all of them

I have a few chapters that I ruminate on for a while and literally think about all the time - see: award show etiquette, my love mine all mine, and the beach - and the next two that I can't stop thinking about is the jeankasa chapter and the style chapter!

I actually listed pride and predjudice as a romcom that eren and y/n would do bc actually they just have to serve and be iconic in everything too. AND JEAN AS MR BINGLEY STOP IT I LOVE IT SO MUCH. (also y/n keeps the statue of eren's head that they make for that one scene in p&p @bsenpai and I have discussed this at length)

THIS ACTUALLY GAVE ME SUCH AN INTERESTING THOUGHT. I had originally named the earlier chapter about eren and y/n distancing "sick with sadness" bc I was like yeah this is eren starting his this is me trying campaign like that's his song. on the same vein, I always thought that y/n was more of a mirrorball - changing herself to fit what seemed best or what people wanted. but now that I think about it, the two of them have kind of flipped. I think post s3 like documentary era, eren is more mirrorball and y/n is more this is me trying??? IDK but this hit and this is me trying is ALSO very connie coded

there's a scene in bon voyage s3 e6, when the members were eating and jhope mentioned that tae and jk were sleeping upside down and hugging each other's legs, i found jimin's reaction to the info kinda sus. the scene was overall weird, jimin was sitting down when hobi finished talking, with no apparent indication of standing up, and suddenly they show jimin's reaction and he's like "wae (what)!?!?" but he's standing up, and then another cut to hobi confirming the story, then the camera goes back to jimin who is seated again and says "that's weird". do you think they edited some of the conversation out?

Let's Quentin Tarantino this. Do I think this was a sus moment? Do I think some of the convo was edited out?

Yes, to both. 👀

JM going from sitting to standing up without us seeing it happen didn't stick out to me too much only because in content like this (Not just BTS content), editors tend to show multiple viewpoints of a moment and I'm guessing JM stood up when we saw the close up of Hobi explaining what he saw. You can also see Hobi's eyes are looking upwards as he's talking.

What gets me tho is JM's initial reaction to Hobi, going eh?! And then needing to clarify what he just heard lol.

Then we cut to JM saying "왜 그래" with that face and that tone.

Side note: I'm not Korean and I'm not fluent in Korean. I have been learning for a while. I'm somewhere between beginner & intermediate and understand that context, tone, and the words used, explain so much when it comes to the Korean language. That's why I wanted to highlight this next part.

Let's talk about the sub-titles here for a moment.

The translator decided to go with "What's wrong?"

This is correct, but it's not the only meaning of those words. "왜 그래" can also mean the following depending on the tone, context, and intonation (rise & fall of voice): "Why is it like that?" "Why are you like that?" "Why are you acting like that?" "What's going on?"

This is a great post about how "왜 그래" can be used.

IMO, JM's tone sounded like it had a bit of a bite behind it. There was no rise in his voice at the end of the words to sound like a curious question. And his face was a little more on the serious side. Again IMO, something like "Why were you like that?" seems more accurate.

He gave off a WTF? vibe.

Back to the question about edited-out parts

I think it's hard to say if anything was edited out right before JM said 왜 그래 but I definitely think the reaction to what JM said was edited out.

There could have been more conversation, but I honestly think there was probably awkward silence after him saying that. 🤣

Because JK & V were both awfully quiet while Hobi was explaining, other than initially asking "Did we?" "Who did it?" There was no laughing, no smiling.

To me, it felt like JK & V were starting to sense JM's unrest with the whole thing and so they decided to stay quiet since an upset Mimi is not what you want to deal with. An upset Mimi is a feisty Mimi.

Look, we always talk about JK being the possessive one but I just think JK is louder about it than JM. There are 2 possessive men in the Jeon-Park Household.

While JK does do some type of skinship with all members, I do think JM enjoys his boyfie privileges. That there are just some things JK doesn't do often with others. And it was probably weird to hear that they were hugging each other's feet especially when JK is sensitive to smells 🤣

I had a hard time choosing something for the captain I'm not gonna lie. I compared a lot of songs, both released and unreleased, and tried to see which one fit his vibe the best. After much deliberation, I finally settled on this one. Like Crazy Form, Inhale is not overwhelming with the noise genre that Ateez is used to. I can see Joong chopping up and playing around with the instrumental on this song and maybe add a bit more layering and depth to this song. Knowing Hongjoong, he'd use that brain of his to produce something immaculate yet stay true to the original.

Seonghwa: Overtime

My brainwaves naturally associated this song with Seonghwa ever since I came across an edit that used this song in the background and the edit contained clips of this fuckface show off his grills in the behind-the-scenes video of Matz.

Yunho: Losing Focus

Heavy 808s, thumping bass, and an overall danceable beat? I immediately thought of Yunho for this one. I'm also taking into account the way he acts. I picture his face contorted into one that is actually losing focus or already has lost focus. I can picture him looking troubled as he rides the beat of this song. That's pretty much all I got for him lol

We all know that Yeosang is the most savage member of the group. So of course I had to pair him with this song. He hates the fried chicken he got (which is a lie since he loves everything lol)? Cancelled. Wooyoung being Wooyoung? CANCELLED. Any bitches that wanna hate on these eight literal fucking angels? CANCELLED!!! Anyways

San: Exchange

Good. Fucking. God. I have been manifesting this cover of this song ever since I got into Ateez. I even fucking put this song in my Valentine's series! You cannot tell me that San's voice would be perfect for this song. The airiness in his tones brings a different timbre to this otherwise aggressive song and it almost gives the song a bit more seduction rather than reminiscence. With the way San's stage presence is, you'd most likely be lured in since he is a siren and you are his prey.

Mingi: Let Me Explain

Mingi is my ult. And this song is my all time favorite out of all the songs that Bryson has released. So naturally, I paired these two together. Ever since I heard Mingi's solo song, I cannot get his raspiness out of my head. It's forever glued to my brain cells. Now imagine the raspiness making an appearance again in this song. How he's begging for you to come back and hear him out before pleading for you to stay. You don't have to forgive him. As long as he explains his truth, he'll be content.

Wooyoung: Just Another Interlude

The more I listen to this bonus track off of Trapsoul, the more I realize that Wooyoung actually represents this song. As the lyrics go, Woo can be a freak and a friend too. He's someone you'd see yourself leaning on yet get a good fuck out of him. However, this doesn't mean he's fitted for friends-with-benefits. Good God no. He's way too good for that. This just means that when you get into a relationship with him, he can either be a friend, a fuckbuddy, a lover, or all three.

Jongho: Next to You

The maknae. The 'hyung' maknae. The maknae with strong hands and even stronger vocals. We all know he loves to scream out his high notes. As it says in a guide I watched, Jongho's voice is so powerful that when you hear his harmonies, you'd think it was another instrument. I jokingly posted a Jongho pic on Instagram with this song in the background, but the more I think about it, the more I realize that he does have the potential to sing mainly in his lower register. It would be a nice contrast to everything else.

Hello!! I love how we are all hoping that Jordan brings back the podcast, i need those two besties back so badly. I feel like they have so much stuff they could talk about especially now with the strikes, it’d be fun to hear their take on it. I am honestly not ready for him to find out how the filming and the aftermath of the show was on Gale and Randy. I know he’s gonna lose his shit to find out how some people were towards them (especially since his idea of Gale in his head is obviously different and in his mind Gale and Randy are bffs like how he is with his friends.) but also i think he will be shocked to find out they both kind of stepped back from the show and had certain issues with it. He did storm in my room randomly today and went ‘IS THAT WHY THERE WAS LESS SEX STUFF?!’ Which btw it was 10 am when he did that, I barely knew i was awake. Basically he was up almost all night thinking about the finale and the podcast (he is once again that conspiracy meme) and he realized in later seasons there’s less sex scenes and now he is distraught that maybe it’s because Randy was uncomfortable. He was having an entire crisis over it. While I don’t know what all i will show him/what he’ll see on his own (i wanna show him bts content and like obviously anything else i can find) but i will be keeping con videos/posts FAR away from him because some of those are the worst things ive ever seen in my life, no offense to anyone. I will say, If you or anyone has any ideas what else I should show him, let me know because he has been losing his mind begging me to let him listen to more of the podcast.

As for our mom, i swear that woman is actually pretty chaotic herself but unlike my brother she hides it better. Both of our parents are insane but for some reason only he doesn’t even make an effort to hide it. She did get a long email sent to her by my brother because she was ignoring his calls and he wanted to talk about s4 finale. It was titled ‘IMPORTANT! NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SHOW’ and then it was almost a short novel about the show.. He wanted to hear her thoughts since he is still undecided about Justin not saying yes to moving in. And he wrote a little bit about the podcast and he also asked her if she thinks Randy would like him if they met (clearly he is feeling a certain way about this) which caused a different crisis, a much bigger one: would Gale like him if they met. That crisis lasted almost 2 hours btw. Anyway as a reply to the email she just forwarded it to our dad who forwarded it back to me to tell me to ‘change the wifi password.’ And then I immediately got a call from my mom about the podcast asking me if it’s about the show and how he already has enough weird hobbies and why can’t I get him into something normal like a pottery group or painting group or something with normal people around. And then I heard in the background our uncle who went ‘after all the stories about him talking to DOCTORS, you want to unleash him on a person who is not medically trained?’ So he is now being encouraged to stay home and watch tv. Also: he is currently talking to his best friend about the finale, while writing down mind maps and lists of what he thinks season 5 will be. He’s having a bit of issues with it because the LA offer apparently fucked quite a lot of things up for him so his original list no longer makes sense. He is also talking to him at the same time (he’s jumping from topic to topic) about Gale and how shocked he was that Randy didn’t enjoy the qaf fame. I don’t know how this became my life. More importantly I would just like to say: i cannot wait for your new fic! I mean your last fic got us here so I can’t wait to see what happens next. But also bearded Brian>>

The podcast talking about the strikes would be amazing! I was hoping we would get a Barbie movie episode but alas. I really want to hear the besties talk about Greta Gerwig.

Hey all, so I’m a fan of Made In Abyss and I recently downloaded and all that let me make AMVs, so I made one about Lyza and Ozen because I’m obsessed with them to an unhealthy agree lol. Here is that video.

There is actually a story to this based on my own headcanons about Ozen and their relationship. The first one is that Ozen does not have many friends, most people find her terrifying and while they respect her it’s more like appeasing a vengeful god than anything like companionship. The second is that Ozen had feelings for Lyza that may or may not have been reciprocated, but she assumed they weren’t because Torka, and that led to her distancing herself and ultimately not going with Lyza on her last dive, something she now regrets. With that said, here is the entire story. I don’t know how to do cuts so apologies for the long post.

So anyway the basic concept is something like an extended flashback showing Ozen and Lyza’s relationship, starting with their first meeting. I edited that a little to show Ozen turning away at first (actually a reversed clip of her turning around) because I feel like she doesn’t trust Lyza just yet, thinks she’s another person who worships her out of fear and who will never see her as a person, and then I showed her turning back around as Lyza continues talking with genuine praise and enthusiasm, as if she’s thinking “oh, this one is different.”

After that I cut to present day Ozen reminiscing as she looks at Lyza’s Whistle, followed by their two silhouettes to symbolize that they became mentor and apprentice after that meeting.

I put the scene of Lyza showing off her Black Whistle and running after Ozen next, to symbolize them moving past mentor and apprentice and becoming true partners, and then cut back to present day with Ozen walking down the stairs before the series of images showing them as cave raiding partners.

There’s a full two seconds of black after Torka appears because Ozen has all the issues with the guy and also because it symbolizes how things went to shit for Lyza when he died.

Cut to Riko’s birth, this is more or less just the clips put in chronological order, though I did shove in a brief clip of Ozen using her whistle as if making good on her words “you can relax child, I’m cursed with a strong sense of duty.”

Then we cut to the balcony scene which is also in chronological order, except I cut out the images of Torka and the dead cave raiders’ gear and left only a brief clip of Ozen carrying the Vessel and Lyza holding baby Riko because the video is about the two of them, not anyone else.

We cut back to Ozen standing in the mist directly after Lyza asks her to talk to Riko if she ever sets out to reach the bottom of the Abyss since I headcanon that this is the exact moment that Ozen realized Lyza didn’t expect her to go too, and assumed that meant she wasn’t welcome. The sudden transition is meant to be jarring and having the song’s climactic high note right there is meant to show how much of a gut punch that was for her.

Then we cut to the Best Scene which I just let play out in all its glory, but I did edit it so it only shows Ozen turning to walk away, as if accepting that she won’t be going with Lyza/leaving to process that fact, and then cutting back to Lyza as if she turned to get one last look.

After that, I cut to Blaze Reap in the flower field as a sort of final goodbye, Ozen knew Lyza wasn’t buried in that grave but she did know that the documents and the whistle were the last things she was ever going to see or hear from her, so it’s like a goodbye in a way, and it also shows that the whole thing ended with a symbolic death, two partners separated.

Finally, I cut to the present day one last time and ended the video with the mist hiding Ozen from view, and cut the video just a bit short because I felt having the last note of the music play over a black screen was more impactful.

Aannnd there the explanation for the ENTIRE THING that I’m certain no one actually cares about but I wrote anyway because I’m permanently in my feels about these two and I needed to scream about them.

Reason 4:

First is Adorable ASF

Okay, you can't just keep watching First Kanaphan all day, and his acting without falling for his constant cuteness and sweetness, because he is the most adorable person I've ever seen in my whole life. I've never seen someone being this illegally adorable and lovable all time. He's a big baby - I repeat HE'S A BIG BABY. I've seen all GMMTV actors treating him so lovingly, always caressing his cheeks or head, he is just so lovable and sweet to everyone. It is just impossible not to adore him, while watching his fluffy cute antics. It will simply make your heart melt. This man has every power to make anyone's heart soft for him, just by the way he acts onscreen and offscreen.

Like, have you seen his puppy doe eyes and his magnetic wide smile? They'll be the death of you if you stare at him for too long. These days, I'm struggling to watch his next series, because I'm now too scared I'll SERIOUSLY fall for him, and that's just so aching for me. This young man is a treasure trove to this century, and I mean it.

I haven't watched, "Wake up Ladies", but when I saw a few clips of his acting in that show, I freaking screamed. He looks so funky, quirky and hilarious. He's such a comfort character in there. If you're having a bad day, watch a few sweet videos of First, they'll uplift your mood, and make you smile so wide, as if you've lived vicariously through his happiness. It's priceless.

Whenever I watched episodes of "The Shipper", I barely stayed silent for too long, because every now and then, I kept squeaking under my breath, saying, "How can he be this cute!??" OR "Omg, He is sweet asf, omg he's so damn cute, MY HEART". Yes, I just kept doing these all the time, and everytime I watched a fantastic acting scene of him, where he simultaneously acted adorable as well? I kept repeating that exact scene for over 10 times, and I don't regret it, because if you love cuteness, you will definitely love him. I just don't know what to say anymore, his cuteness makes me so happy, it makes me breathe. As a certified BL lover, all I want is to see him act cute all day, with his exceptionally endearing smile - which will soon bring us to the next point in my next post.

Chozen may have made a mistake.

He is used to making mistakes and admitting them, though he wasn’t always. A man who says he never makes mistakes is a liar. As he got older, though, he likes to think he got a little wiser, at least enough to recognise some ideas are bad ideas and should be avoided at all costs.

Daniel-san has been gone ten minutes, and already Chozen is starting to think he shouldn’t have let him go back to Stingray’s house alone.

Of course Stingray is no threat on his own, that much was obvious earlier. And of course Daniel-san would go back to apologise, because no matter how rattled he was, how short-tempered and angry and aggressive he ended up being towards Stingray, at his core Daniel LaRusso has a kind heart that not even Terry Silver can corrupt completely. This Chozen has learned plotting and fighting side by side with him for weeks, even if in hindsight it was already obvious over thirty years ago, when they were young. Chozen despised him then for that kindness then, laughed at him for being weak and soft, and then hated him for risking his life when Chozen himself could only run and hide… And then he showed a mercy Chozen thought at the time to be the cruellest of acts when Chozen, trembling, furious, conceded defeat and expected – demanded – death.

Now Daniel-san is the one who has conceded defeat. The cost of his war against Silver became too high; Silver poured poison into his mind, blew on the embers of doubt until even his family left, wary of the fire, and if the shadows under his eyes and the set of his shoulders are any indication, it’s taking a toll on his health, too.

He even apologised to Chozen earlier for “wasting his time”, as though helping a friend in need and fighting for the honour of Miyagi-Do wasn’t worth crossing any ocean for, as though Chozen hasn’t let him down in this when he swore they would see things through together. As though his uncle Sato wasn’t closer than a brother to Daniel-san’s Mr. Miyagi before love and resentment drove a wedge between them for forty years, a feud that almost ended in tragedy.

As though Sato hasn’t passed onto his nephew the four hundred years rich history of Miyagi-Do karate along with a rough, understated love, just like Miyagi passed his family’s karate onto the boy he had come to love as a son.

“Our senseis had the same sensei, we’re basically karate cousins,” Daniel-san had said last year with a smile, eager to learn more, even as his old enemy outwardly sneered at the idea of teaching a foreigner some of the most sacred secrets of Miyagi-Do.

Which… hadn’t been completely an act.

But Daniel-san passed Chozen’s test. Chozen passed his own secret test, and finally got his chance to show mercy in turn. The look of terror on Daniel-san’s face shifting into absolute confusion had been the icing on the cake.

And when Daniel-san, rubbing life back into his limbs, panting and a little shaken but wide-eyed and grinning, had asked, “Can you teach me?”, Chozen’s nod and proud smile had been one hundred percent genuine.

Unfortunately, some defeats hurt more than others.

Fifteen minutes. Chozen has already checked his bags twice.

His eyes fall on the newspaper clipping that put them on Stingray’s trail this morning, the address and the word LIAR in bold letters. Even with the evening traffic, Daniel-san must have arrived by now, replacement video game console in hand, and Chozen doubts he’ll stay very long. He’ll probably be back in twenty minutes, plenty of time to drive Chozen to the airport. And then, somehow, send word to Silver that he’s backing out of the war.

Except…

Would Terry Silver even accept a white flag? So far, he hasn’t struck Chozen as the kind of man to accept defeat of any kind. Part of the philosophy of the Way of the Fist is to do everything, go to any lengths, to win. Not just beat your opponent, but destroy your enemy – surrender is not enough. And while Chozen has nothing but contempt for the concept of Defeat does not exist in this dojo – sometimes losing and accepting that loss helps put things into perspective – something else nags at his mind that he can’t quite put his finger on.

Chozen reviews all of his interactions with Silver, at his dojo, at his home, at the country club. The way the man smiled even as he prodded and picked at his adversary, like Daniel-san was a mouse and he a cat, to discard his toy when it no longer entertained him and not a moment before.

It’s doubtful, to say the least, that he’ll accept Daniel-san’s surrender now. He took too much pleasure dismantling him. And when better for a cobra to strike than when the enemy is already down?

Still holding the scrap of paper, Chozen reaches for his phone and opens the Uber app.

If he’s being paranoid he can always apologise later.

Lacey Cat (2024) Extra

I forgot that I still need to post my videos, and so I still need to make a post XD Well it’s not like I hate to talk about it, but over the last 5 posts, I’ve written over 2k words already, am I making amateur porn here or taking writing lessons?

Anyway, there are totally 3 videos. By the time you read this, all of them should’ve been published.

Teaser - 1 min vertical clip I did before taking the photos

Main video - 10 min video, the trimmed down version that highlights the best part in the session. 

Extended cut - 40 min video, all the actions in the session. It’s not unedited, it’s just… long… and sometimes not that exciting. 

40 min is way too long for anyone to spend on one porn clip. While JAV can be 2 hours long, some of them do actually have plots, and at least a few different scenes. Still I wonder if the Japanese themselves watch the full length of those… My video is 40 min of me, on the same bed. (Well I did move around, took off some clothes, changed the camera angle a few times :P)

At first, I wanted to just cut it short. But how short? Most of my older vids were around 25 min long, and I feel that is still a bit too long for anyone to watch casually. But cutting it to 25 would be cutting away a lot of things already. So it would feel incomplete, while still being too long.

So I made a much shorter, 10 min version this time. Hopefully you can enjoy it without too much commitment. But, as the length implies, there are A LOT of things not included. If you are interested enough to want to see more, then you can find quite a bit more unseen footage in the 40 min version. So you’re not rewatching 80% of old content just to see the 20% new stuff.

I am not totally thrilled for it to have two different versions out there either, but I think this is the better choice. If anyone actually sat through the 40 min in my vid, let me know if you fell asleep at some point, or if now you regret doing so XD

Final note to self after editing the vids. Due to aging and probably weight lost, my arms looks even less feminine now. My belly is flatter but because of the dent in my chest, my torso is still not especially nice to look at. So, I guess I need to put more effort into acquiring a good top next time, if there’s a next time ;)

There's this guy named John Hastings, I came across him when watching old ACMS videos on YouTube, and he's also turned up in some other assorted YouTube clips of old Edinburgh nights that feature assorted comedians that I stumble across when looking up that sort of thing. I quite liked him in those videos, so some time ago I bought a couple of his shows off Bandcamp, couldn't really get into those, gave up partway through one of them. But I wasn't really in the right mood for it at the time, and I knew that, and meant to go back to it when I was more in the mood to enjoy it, and then, to be honest, I forgot about it.

Until today, when this appeared on YouTube:

It's labeled a comedy special, I didn't know you could call something a comedy special if it's a compilation of different nights filmed in different venues of different stuff (I know lots of specials are filmed across maybe two nights, but they'll be in the same venue and edited to look like it was all one night), this is just half an hour of various bits he did at different times in 2023. It's also only half an hour. But it's pretty funny.

Watching this is fucking weird, because it's way too much like something from my local comedy scene, though obviously much better, and it's a guy I've seen bantering with John Luke Roberts in Edinburgh Fringe Festival videos but he's performing in Toronto in a club that they also have in my city and in the sort of "style" that looks like what they do here (by which I guess I just mean club comedy, and I know they have club comedy in the UK, but I haven't heard it, so as far as my brain is concerned this sort of club comedy is what they do here and not there), but this got recommended to me by someone who saw it on Josie Long's Instagram, also by an odd coincidence right after I watched it I listened to a podcast in which Ray Peacock called him "brilliant", but at the beginning and end of this video you see him walking through the exact streets of Toronto where I had walk to get back to the place we were staying the last time I was there to coach a tournament, and it's so weird. Very weird. I do not want all those things to exist in the same universe, or at least, not on the same plane of reality. My local comedy things should not have crossover with the British comedy that lives in my computer. The amount of cognitive dissonance that this causes me is making me genuinely concerned for how I'll be able to handle going to the UK this year and experience that place as the physical world, but anyway, let's not worry about that.

Those are all things I thought before I looked him up, because I'd got the impression from those ACMS videos that he was a Canadian comic who lived in the UK, but this made me think maybe he actually lived in Canada or America and just traveled there for the Edinburgh Festival, so I looked him up and it seems like he's lived all over, and in the process of this, I learned that he is performing at my local comedy club next weekend. Not in Toronto, which had already seemed too nearby. But in my own city. Friday and Saturday night, next weekend and the following weekend. At a comedy club I've been to many times (not recently, but I used to go there a lot 10 or so years ago when my brother would perform there). So I'm going to go see him. I'm also vaguely aware that I try not to give away too many specifics about my personal information in posts on this blog, and because I've said this technically someone could dox my city of residence by Googling John Hastings' tour schedule for next weekend, but given how few people will be reading this post to begin with, I don't think it's a huge risk.

Anyway, the point is that I quite enjoyed that half hour of un-themed club comedy from several different nights that apparently still counts as a comedy special, I'm thinking I might try his Bandcamp shows again, and I'm going to go see him perform next weekend. That is a lot more John Hastings in my life than I was expecting to have a few hours ago. Other people might also enjoy that video.

Another shouty comedian for me to like. I got accused a few weeks ago of really liking shouty comedians, and I said I don't think that's a general rule, and then I went through my hard drive folder of comedy to see how many shouty ones are there, and I have to admit, just from a quick glance, Frankie Boyle, Jen Brister, Michael Legge, Nish Kumar, Sam Campbell, Desiree Burch, Tom Ballard, Nick Helm, Phil Nichol, Johnny Vegas, Rhod Gilbert (shouting is in the later work only, but I like his shouting-era work best), I like John Robins best when he gets shouty, I've just spent several weeks listening to Ray Peacock make me laugh my shouting people down... it's not that long a list compared to the list of all the comedians whose work I have saved in that folder, but it's a long enough list so I have to concede that there's a pattern. And the people on that list are not just people I like enough to have saved their work, most of those are people I'd count among my very favourites. I might actually just be really into shouty comedy. I don't want to be a person who's really into shouty comedy, and if I get into this Hastings guy that'll just be one more. I'm not into, like, Bill Hicks or anything. But I might like a lot of more recent shouty ones.

New Year's Resolution time, kiss another year goodbye!

Ahem... Now that I've gotten that out of my system... I spent a good chunk of the past two weeks playing with a planner I bought for this year. It has a goals section, that is really cool. You pick up to six areas of focus, and set goals for each area, and mark if they're projects or habits you want to get into. Then, each month, for each area of focus, you narrow your focus down more. I'm explaining it badly, but bear with me.

My areas of focus this year are: writing, fandom, fitness and weight loss, cleaning and organizing, self development, and fun and hobbies. Yes, I know that it looks like there's some overlap. "Fandom" could theoretically be divided between "writing" and "fun and hobbies". But, splitting it up this way just makes sense to me. Don't try to understand how my brain works. That way madness lies.

So, my goals, both long-term for the year, and what I've chosen to focus on in January:

This year's goals are: finish at least the first draft of Married At First Sight, my Historical Romance novel. And get The Vampires Of Sangue Collina book 1 ready for an editor and/or beta readers. To that end, I have also set a goal for a habit of working on both of them every week.

For January, my goals are to write 2-3k a week on MAFS, and at least read through the rest of the lessons in my revision course and make a plan for this round of revisions on VSC1.

Fandom:

This year's goals are: do more reading, especially of my favorite stories/writers. Try to post at least one chapter a week. Get a few of my multi-chapter fics finished. And work more on my videos.

For January, I want to try to finish Let's Run Away Together. Catch up on Plausible Deniability, Seeing Clearly With More Than Your Eyes, and my friend Andi's Haylijah fics. And finish separating season 2 of Bridgerton into scenes to make finding clips for fan videos easier.

Fitness and weight loss:

This year's goals are: lose 20-50 pounds and keep it off. Bring a lunch to work mos days. Exercise at least 3 times a week. Less fast food. And less soda, more water.

For January, I'm just focusing on bringing a lunch to work most days and I want to start using my Pilates videos.

Cleaning and organizing:

This years goals are: get and keep my computer table and under my computer table cleaned. Get my bed cleared off (I've been sleeping on a futon in my room because I need a new mattress on my bed, and my bed has become a catch-all). Organize my bookcases. Organize my shelving units. Watch and follow the videos on this organizing challenge thing I signed up for months ago and did nothing with. And organize my computer and phone.

January I just want to get and keep my computer table and under my computer cleared off, and bookmark and close out the 5 bazillion open browser tabs on my phone. Cleaning and organizing is definitely a baby steps focus area for me. If I try to do too much at once, I'll never maintain it.

Self development:

This years goals are: Read a chapter of a writing book every day. Find an Italian course I like and actually follow it (though, seriously considering trying to learn ASL first, and looking into Italian next year. Still trying to decide). Pull out my keyboard and actually do the piano course I signed up for... years ago. Find YouTube videos and teach myself to crochet. And do a page of handwriting exercises every day.

January's goals are: finish reading Finding Your Voice. And find courses for Italian and/or ASL. (Might also add the handwriting sheets, since they're like 5 minutes a day...)

Fun and hobbies:

This year's goals are: read 25-50 pages of fiction (not counting fanfiction) a day. Play more on my DS and less on silly games on my phone and tablet. Finish the game and puzzle my niblings bought me for Christmas last year. And play more on this website I like with these really fun text adventure games.

January's goals are to get in my 25-50 pages of fiction reading, and finish the game and puzzle.

I also want to do a better job of actually making daily to-do lists and using them to actually get shit done. Set a habit of having a load of laundry washed, dried, and put away all on the same day. Make a habit of "resetting my room to clean" every night (making sure that any area that has been cleaned previously stays clean). Keep better track of my finances and work on saving money.

But! My biggest resolution is to just be kinder to myself. To accept that none of this is set in stone. I have untreated ADHD. Exectutive dysfunction is a thing. Inertia is a thing. And habits are hard to get going. But, to not let one set back completely derail me. I have this habit of, if I miss a day of exercise, I decree that week ruined. And then I have to wait for the start of a new week/month and start over. I'm honestly the same way with most habits I try to create. I need to stop doing that. I need to just pick myself up and keep going from where I left off.

I'll be posting nightly updates to hold myself accountable. Here's to making 2023 my best year, yet! (Honestly, this is not hard to do. I am a bit of a mess.)
