so we're reading the revenge of the sith novelization one page per day on my patreon discord and it's giving me (me! who'd already read it three times!) an entirely new tier of obsession with both that damn book and lucas's characters and story. stover really put everything into it and boy does it stand up to close scrutiny. every single page has something, some keen character insight or elegant twist of prose that's been worth discussing, and it has no right to be like this! comparing revenge of the sith to salvatore's attack of the clones is like comparing sophocles with fucking xenophon! it entirely transcends its genre and dabbles in others, like adding in some second person direct address(now your self is all you'll ever have), or some lyrical interludes(the dark's patience is infinite/eventually, even stars burn out) and repetition of language and theme(even stars burn out), vivid and sustained imagery (the dragon of fear that eats anakin's heart, within your furnace heart, you burn in your own flame), i could go on and on. this book ruined my life honestly and studying it a page a day has just been a dissection about why

The secret Dungeon Meshi sauce that's getting people to eat better is that it's so non-judgmental. Senshi and the rest of the gang never talk about what not to eat besides things that taste bad and literal poison. They don't even talk about "health" that much besides the importance of a balanced diet. It's so much easier to eat well when you think of food simply as something your body needs, and that it's often worth the extra effort to make it taste good, especially when you understand how to connect "things your body needs" with "things that taste good"

What’s up with how the dunmeshi fandom just lies about this kind of stuff all the time. It is easily confirmable information that it was a monthly series, something incredibly common in the industry.

A not weekly magazine schedule is literally common !! Especially in the seinen shoujo and josei demographics, sometimes monthly, sometimes biweekly, sometimes every two months, sometimes seasonal! Please stop lying about how Dunmeshi was some special unique creation that defies all standards of manga just to hype it up because it is so clear that every single one of these comparisons is centered around Weekly Shonen Jump (and understand that SJ has many magazines under its brand that are monthly or semimonthly). Not everything is WSJ and it needs to stop being the only point of reference in conversations like this 🤧
