Piers x Raihan x Leon x gn!Reader

Once the four of you start officially dating, you all still keep it very much on the down low

Raihan will still post photos with captions calling you guys his 'favourite people' but nothing about you all being together romantically

And even if you all go as a group to Piers shows, there's minimal PDA to try and avoid people finding out

Usually just keeping to fleeting touches and knowing looks

It's not because any of the are embarrassed or ashamed of dating you or being in a poly relationship, but they're high profile people with a lot of fans so they worry about the potential reception

When you guys go on public dates it often looks more like a group of good friends all going out for dinner

Raihans arm good naturedly slung over Leon's shoulders as they talk about the Pokémon league

You and Piers trailing slightly behind, fingers brushing against each other while you chat about plans for his next show

If you guys end up going out for drinks afterwards things might get a bit rowdy but still pretty secretive

It's when you have at home dates that all the affection really come out

Leon has a huge TV and an even larger couch, so you lot often invade his apartment to have movie nights

All of you make a cuddle puddle across the couch and get comfy and settled in for a good night

Piers has his legs draped over Raihan, the dragon tamer is lying back into your lap, and you're pressed against Leon with his arm around your waist

Nevermind the near constant threat of spilled drinks due to everyone always shuffling around

The first people to find out about your relationships are your families

Lord knows Leon needs a California king bed for all of you to pass out in later

Hop initially has a couple reservations, it's not a very common relationship set up after all, but with a little time he warms up to it all

Soon, he's all over you guys and your Pokémon trying to get top secret training tips

Marnie isn't all that interested in your relationship but she is glad her brother is happy and loved

Leon's parents aren't too phased, and they make sure you know you're always welcome to all come stay with them

They do also end up investing in a few extra air mattresses for your visits

She'll pull you aside at some point and thank you for taking care of Piers

Once the rest of the world is informed, thanks to a viral post made by Raihan, there's definitely chaos for a while

There were plenty of fans that not only supported the relationship but had also suspected some sort of romance happing behind the scenes

There were also plenty of assholes that wanted to judge your relationship

Three very eligible bachelors with cult followings were just taken off the market all at once after all

If Raihan sees anything in the comments of any posts he simply deletes and blocks

Piers tends to post his own scathing remarks in response, he has no patience for people judging things they don't understand

Leon is blissfully unaware of any online hate, but if he sees you upset then he'll wrap you up in a hug and let your other boyfriends loose in the comments

Overall, A+ boyfriends, you'll never not be feeling the love

Raihan x Bear Reader

Guys that are as tall as you and Raihan stick out like a sore thumb, but in a good way! For a big guy like you, you tend to like a lot of cute and feminine things. The way that Raihan met you was through social media. You were a big gay bear that specialized in fairy types and you take a lot of pride in that!!!! No shame in this house for you!!!!!

When it comes to the dating scene, Raihan has a specific type of girls he usually goes for but when it comes to men, he's very you-sexual.

But when it comes to dating Raihan, there are a few cons. People make fun of your belly and appearance online, saying Raihan is too good for you. People think you're being predatory on him, assuming your age to be vastly higher than Raihan to an uncomfortable level. You've seen the look of envy and scorn bystanders have for you when you go on dates with him and it makes you uncomfortable. You profess this to Raihan and he vows to do better.

Raihan calls out his rabid fanbase on this, being very vocal in his adamant love for you.

He begins to compliment you more and becomes more handsy. His big hands fondling you affectionately as he nuzzles against you.

Being so close to Raihan, you're one of the few that actually witnesses him in his weaker moments. He's not the confident playboy persona that he performs online. Even the biggest of dragons need a place to rest and you're his comfort.

Raihan professes that with his losing streak with Leon, that he sometimes feels like he's not good enough. But he does confess that he felt like he won the lottery with you, having stuck around for so long. Normally partners don't hit the 1 year anniversary mark with him, but you've been with him for the past 3 years.

You pretend and joke, saying that the warranty on you expired so he's stuck with you now. He laughs and comes to hug you, asking where he can get more guys like you.

Leon x Bear Reader

Ok. Let's be real here. Leon gets lost in the middle of fucking nowhere and you happened to find him playing with your herd of Wooloo.

You're one of the farmers that work with Milo, your Wooloos are used in his gym challenge! With that in mind, you're familiar with working with celebrities and gym leaders.

But you certainly weren't expecting to find the Champion laying in your favorite hammock with a Wooloo on his lap. Leon seems happy to have found someone to talk to and apologizes for taking your spot. You laugh and excuse his behavior and invite him into your cottage for cup of tea.

He takes you up on your offer, following you back to your home and the two of you have a relaxing day together. As hours pass, you require a new pot of tea and you even decide to make him dinner on a whim. It wasn't every day that the Champion himself would be this far away from the city.

In the morning, Leon decides that he would repay your kindness by doing some farm labor. You try to talk him out of it but he wasn't budging! So you show him more of your farm and garden.

So he stays another day, doing farm labor with you and playing with your Wooloos after. He's a fast learner but there are times when he makes a mistake or two. You comfort him when he apologizes and help him do things for a second try. When you call him back to the house for some lemonade and sandwiches, Leon comes back running, eager to eat your food.

But when he sits down to eat, you notice him frowning. He confesses that though the labor was extensive at times, this was the most relaxed he's felt in a while. Being a champion was tough work and he always had to keep a certain persona since he didn't want to disappoint people. Being Champion for so long, he's kind of...scared to think of what he becomes if anyone takes his title away.

You give him a smile, hold his hand, and tell him, "Well, you make a decent farmhand, I'll tell you that much." You two laugh and he feels more at ease.

Though he gets lost easily, he does vow to come back. You two exchange numbers before he leaves.

To your surprise, he gives you a peck on the cheek and runs away, flying on his Charizard. You belly laugh as he flies away.

Piers x Bear Reader

You're the security guard at Piers' show. You've known him for a good number of years.

You're the biggest and strongest guy out of the entire squad and you take a position right before the stage.

Piers knows you like his music with the way your head nods. You're always having a good time at work. There isn't a job any easier than this.

Marnie was watching one of his shows and decided to be in the audience instead of backstage. But then you see it, a mosh pit was going to happen.

When Piers realizes that Marnie is in the crowd, he tries to stop the music but it's too late.

You ran first, trying to make it to Marnie before the audience hits you. Mosh pits are no fucking joke, you can break bones here.

You manage to get to her first but because you ran, others did too. You lift Marnie onto your shoulder and shove your way out of the pit, protecting her the entire time.

Piers meets you backstage and offers you an ice pack. He can't thank you enough for what you did. Marnie pouts saying she could have handled it but you and Piers knows otherwise. She's still just a kid. But she also thanks you for protecting her when she sees your bruises.

He doesn't try to do it slyly, when Marnie goes to get you some water. Piers nonchalantly asks for your number.

At first he did it to make sure you got home ok, but you know he cares when he continues to talk to you days after the incident.

Summary: In which Leon thinks a lot ( and it keeps him awake)

Notes: whatever the ship name for Leon x Raihan x Piers is, this is that. I like writing characters reflecting :) Also super sorry if this is ooc, I genuinely haven't interacted with/ written these characters in a while. I just pressed on and wrote the fluff lol. Also I did NOT edit this bad boy, so sorry for any spelling errors. I still hope you enjoy!!!

If he were to be honest, and he is, he never fully expected to be the cuddler and cuddlee. Raihan and Piers lay on each side of him, Raihan’s head crooning near his neck, and Piers resting on his chest. Both of which are latching into him,allowing zero escape, all three of their legs tangled together in a comfortable mess. And- he’s being truthful here- he did not expect them to be cuddlers. At all. Okay maybe Raihan- he liked to lean on close friends, Leon knew that much. But Piers? Piers liked his space and privacy, which they respected. What more, Piers was a horrid night owl. It took them a while to even get comfortable sleeping together, even more so to drag Piers to bed and make sure he stays there. And yet here he is, an arm wrapped around Leon, comfortable and sleeping away. Leon can't help but feel pride. He’s glad Piers feels safe with him to fall asleep

It’s still weird that they're so cuddly. Not a bad weird. A good weird. Just ….. something he has to get used to now. It is nice, though. And he suppose it makes sense that a dragon and a vampire desire warmth- he chuckles at the thought.

……Sleep eludes him tonight. Not the first time, though he hoped the two bodies next to him would have him asleep in no time. And yet, he stares at the ceiling of Raihan's apartment, wide awake as can be. He's…..not afraid to fall asleep. Not tonight, anyway. No fears of darkness, no flashes of red and blue and purple- nothing. For once, things felt peaceful. So why can't he sleep?

Leon shifts a little- or tries to with his boyfriend's clinging onto him- trying to gather his thoughts. Maybe he's just not tired. Maybe Piers vampirism latched onto him now. He snorts at the thought.

……..

He wonders what Sonia is doing now. Is she with Nessa, like he is with Raihan and Piers? Or is she back home, sleeping away in her own peace? He hopes, either way, she's getting a good night's rest. And if not well. He wonders if she's doing the same thing he’s doing right now. Thinking away.

“Lee,” Raihan’s voice almost made Leon jump out of his own skin. Leon looks down to see a familiar turquoise eye looking up at him, “ I can hear you thinking, love”

An urge to roll his eyes is strong, but instead he chooses to worry- playfully.

“ Sorry it woke you up, then,” he teases, and it's Raihan that rolled his eyes.

“ Mm-hmm” Raihan hums, then he yawns, rising up on his arms, “ Well? What's got you overthinking?”

“ I'm not overthinking-”

“ Hhhrrrrmp” Piers grunts, waking up himself. He doesn't open his eyes just yet, only speaking, “ Why are we talking in the middle of the night?”

“ Lee’s overthinking,”

“ I'm not-”

“ Okay,” Piers yawns, “ Stop overthinking,Leon. Go to bed- ow!”

Leon suppresses a giggle as Raihan pinches Piers, earning them both a glare from the man.

“ Alright, alright, we can talk about it, jeez-”

“ We really don't have to” Leon interrupts, “ It's really nothing”.

Raihan and Piers look at each other, then back at Leon.

“ Lee we all know when you say ‘its really nothing', it's absolutely something”

“But it really isn't!”

“ And when you insist it isn't, it usually is,” Piers adds, also rising up, staring down at Leon, “ So let's cut to the part where you tell us what's up, hm?”

Leon grumbles. Leave it to these two to go straight for the kill….

“ Alright! It's Sonia. Just….thinking about how she's doing, that's all,”

Raihan tilts her head to the side, but before he could say anything, Piers crashes back down next to Leon.

“ Piers-”

“ I’m listening. But I'm also fucking tired. So.” Piers mumbled, and Leon chuckled. Once again - never would have expected this from the vampire man. Though the more he thinks about it, the more that's on him than anything. Raihan shakes his head, but nudges Leon on his shoulder, gently offering him to speak.

“ …..Well. I couldn't sleep. And I didn't exactly feel any distress so I just. Let my mind wander. And I ended up thinking about Sonia,” he shrugs, “ Still don't know why I'm awake though”

Raihan hums, nodding his head.

“ Did you talk to her recently?” He asks. Leon scrunches up his face a bit. Has he? They certainly have been talking more since he lost his title, but recently?

“.....No, not really”

“ Then maybe you just miss her,” Piers offered, his voice muffled slightly by the sheets.

“ We could set up something if you'd like,” Raihan offers next. Leon hums, titling his head to the side slightly.

“ That would be nice…..we’ve both been pretty busy….” He trails off,his mind going back. Back to the gym challenge. Back to their rivarly. Back to home. Back to-

“ She gave me that title first, you know” he says without thinking. Raihan raises a brow.

“ What?”

Leon blinks.

“ Uh. Before the gym challenge. I…..I was so scared. I didn't think anyone would like me or….or if I would make it far,” he swallows, memories flooding back into his mind. Him staring down at the train station, his legs refusing to move. The fear of leaving home, the worry of his loved ones health, the thought of him failing- it was all too much. He remembers Sonia’s touch. He remembers her giving him a warm smile. He remembers what she said-

“ She told me to create a persona. One that's ever confident and that can do anything and everything with a smile,” he smiles softly at the memory, “ ‘The Unbeatable Leon’”

There's a short silence between the three. Raihan looks down at Leon with slightly widened eyes.

“ I….I didn't know that,” he mutters.

“ Of course you didn't. It was our secret. No one had to know,”

“ So…..” Piers speaks up, “ When we first met you that….was a persona?”

“....Kinda?” Leon thinks back some more, “ Sonia….she told me that Leon and Unbeatable Leon were one of the same. Both can do anything really- it's just that Unbeatable Leon was a tool to get me going, you know?” He frowns

“....I don't think she ever meant for it to become my entire being,”

“Lee…..that's not your fault,” Raihan lowers his hand to meet Leon's, giving it a small squeeze.

“ I know….but it's not her fault either,’

“ Obviously. Neither of you expected it to become a marketing tool,” Piers says curtly. Rose’s name is left unsaid, thankfully, but it still hangs in the air.

“ I…..should probably talk to her about it,” Leon sighs, “...Later. I can see you getting grumpy Piers”.

“ Excuse me for being tired and still wanting to comfort my boyfriend,”

“ Yeaaaah, we better get back to sleep” Raihan says with a smirk, “ We don't want you becoming a vampire again”

Leon doesn't suppress his giggles this time, chuckling to himself as Raihan gets back into his original spot.

“ I can't believe you're still on that” Piers huff.

“ And you don't deny it, so for all I know, I'm right~” Raihan fires back, only to be accompanied by a yawn.

That seems to do it. Whatever small banter that was starting to brew dies quietly.

And soon Leon is back to where he was before. But this time he finds himself growing tired himself, sleep easing into him, one last memory plays in his mind……

“ Unbeatable? Me?” Leon asks meekly. Sonia smiles, and Leon feels his worries ease.

“ Yep! The Unbeatable Leon! Everyone will love it!”

“ Everyone…..” he shakes his head, “But! I never beat you in battle, Sonia! How can I-”

“ Because!” She cuts him off, “ I believe in you, silly. Someday everyone is gonna see how bright you really are, just like I do!” She snickers a bit, “ Who knows maybe you’ll be able to beat me in battle soon~”

“Sonia!” Leon whines, and Sonia simply laughs, moving in front of him.

She stands in front of the train station, a big smile with a hand outstretched.

“ So, Mr. Unbeatable…..you ready to go?”

Leon looks at his best friend, and the hand she lends out. Unbeatable Leon…..the guy who does everything and anything with a confident smile. Like her. Like Sonia. He beams, and takes Sonia’s hand.

“ You know it!”

Volitile Contact and Dragon Protection Final Chapter

Apologies now if the ending at all seems rushed.

Three days Raihan’s arse. Of course the day Leon was supposed to return home would be the day prep for the Champion Cup started. Which meant Leon just had to stay in Wyndon with Rose. Rose planned that, Raihan just knew it.

Day four, Raihan just about broke the doors to Macro Cosmos. If Leon hadn’t bolted to Raihan, hugging him, there would have been a lot more damage. He was ready to cause as much damage as possible to save Leon. But being the saint he was, Leon found a way to soothe the situation.

“Ready for the Champion Cup?” Leon asked, burying his face in Raihan’s shoulder.

Raihan could tell he was in distress, but he was using the upcoming tournament as a distraction. Leon’s breathing was awkward, moving from quick little breathes and long deep ones. And Leon’s Beware hug couldn’t fool Raihan. Leon was shaking like a wet Meowth in winter.

“Ready as I’ll every be.” Shrugging, Raihan dislodged Leon, one hand holding Leon’s shoulder while the other held the side of Leon’s face. “You promised three days.”

Leon winced. “I’m sorry. I forgot the Champion Cup was kicking off yesterday. Rose couldn't do it without me.”

“You and I both know that’s a lie. He planned that, knowing damn well you would feel obligated to help as the champion.”

Leon shrugged. “Can we get lunch? I’m hungry.”

Pulling out of Raihan’s gripped, he tried to lead Raihan to the exit. A tug stopped him as Raihan pulled him back. Hugging Leon, Raihan had questions he had to get answers to.

“Did he lock you up?”

“No.”

“Did he hurt you?”

“No.”

“Did he hurt Hop?”

Leon violently shaking his head. “No.” He buried his face in Raihan’s hoodie, wanting to disappear. “Can we just go? We only have two hours before the tournament and I’m starving. I haven’t eaten since yesterday morning.”

It’ll only be a minute.

Raihan knew he shouldn’t have believed it. He didn’t. Yet, he let Leon go anyways. The tournament went off without a hitch. The finals would happen tomorrow. In the meantime, Leon agreed to go to dinner with Hop, Gloria, and Raihan. Until Leon asked to check something out really quick. Leon promised it wouldn’t be long, but when Raihan saw Leon head towards Rose’s Tower, he knew Leon was in for a world of trouble.

By a stroke of luck, Piers had crossed paths with Leon. At the same time, Raihan had the worst luck with timing. Because he didn’t know what was going on, Piers wouldn’t have known to stop him. Had Raihan caught him sooner, maybe he could have.

“He’s just meeting the chairman.” Piers stated.

“It’s not that simple.” Raihan sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.

“Why not? Rose is his sponsor, the president of Macro Cosmo, and the head of the league. What’s not simple about that?”

“What that man has been doing to Leon is down right criminal.”

Folding his arms, Piers groaned. “Explain.”

Raihan growled, losing patience. “We don’t have time for this.”

He had to get to Leon before Rose did. As he started to run towards the tower, a hand grabbed his wrist and yanked him back. Darkened eyes were unamused, but concerned.

“Let me help you. I just need answers. Is Leon in danger? If so, how much?”

“Yes. In the last week, Rose has bashed his skull unto a concrete wall, broken Leon’s boundaries attempting to kiss him, and his Ferrothorn left a long gash in his back.” He huffed, eyes wincing. “On top of that, he’s been beating Leon for years and threatening Hop to keep him quiet.”

Raihan yanked his arm out of Piers’ grip, realizing that Piers was wide eyed, disgusted, and fidgeting. There was no going back now. Not that Raihan could any longer. Raihan needed to tell someone. Anyone who would listen.

“Why?”

“I don’t know. To assure his power I assume. Look,” Raihan showed him the photos of Leon’s back, “Leon wasn’t doing anything wrong. He was just thanking Charizard for his help. And then there’s this.”

Raihan showed Piers a video he had secretly caught the threat Rose made after getting Leon. One instance catching a glimpse of Leon in accepted shock.

Icy blue eyes burned into Raihan, sharply and cautiously. “Please tell me you took these to the authorities.”

“I’m working on it, while we were at the hospital, I got the number of a detective who checked in.”

Piers nodded. “Good. He deserves justice.” Black and white hair slid as Piers looked at Rose Tower. “Save Leon. If I don’t hear from you in fifteen minutes, we’re coming after you. Might be sooner depending on Hop.”

Raihan smiled. “Thank you Piers.”

Softly smiling back, Piers hugged Raihan. “You know, I didn’t think you guys would last a week. But I’m glad you proved me wrong. I’m glad Leon has someone like you to watch out for him.”

An airy chuckle escaped Raihan. “What can I say, I learned my lesson. I’m only sorry I didn’t with you.”

“Never held it against you. It wasn’t in either of our control.” Piers shrugged, hair briefly exposing three light silvers on his throat. “I’m just glad we can still be friends.” He released Raihan. “Now, go!”

Nodding, Raihan ran towards Rose’s Tower.

Leon felt glass crack as his body hit the window. Thankfully, he wasn’t bleeding, but he knew he would if he slammed the window that hard again. Rose’s hand gripped Leon’s throat.

“You will postpone the battle.”

“I… won’t. As the champion it’s my duty to...”

Leon chocked as his airways tightened. “As my sponsored champion, your duty is to obey me!” He released Leon’s throat, letting him breathe. “Do you understand me?”

“I… refuse.”

“Then I guess I’ll just have to discipline you.”

“Let him go, Rose!”

Leon’s blood ran cold as Rose smirked. “Perfect timing.” Keeping Leon pinned, he turned to face Raihan. “I’m growing tired of your constant interfering, boy.” He grabbed Leon’s chin. “But since you're so insistent one inserting yourself in the situation, I guess you won’t mind witnessing Leon cheating on you.”

“You wouldn’t.” Raihan hissed, stepping towards him.

“I would.” Rose wrapped an arm around Leon’s waist and dragged Leon beside him. “I won’t go too far, but you will hate every minute of it. Don’t you agree, Leon?” He kissed Leon’s temple. “Where should we begin?”

THUD

If trauma was one hell of a drug, adrenaline and rage were nightmarish. With a fist curled and amber eyes widened, Leon froze in place. He hit Rose. He actually hit Rose.

Once his adrenaline withdrew, and now freed of Rose’s hold, Leon bolted to Raihan. Into surprised open arms. He didn’t look back at Rose, too uneasy to.

“Get me out of here.”

Blinking, Raihan nodded. “Let’s go home.”

A weak and damaged body slowly moved as breathes slowly escaped. Purple hair blanketed over Leon and Raihan as Leon’s face buried itself in Raihan’s chest.

Leon almost died today. Rose had completely lost it after Leon decked him. He released Eternatus, threatened to send Eternatus on the crowd if Leon didn’t try to capture it, and didn’t even seem fazed as Eternatus attacked Leon.

Had Charizard not been released already, Raihan wondered how long Leon would have survived, if he even would have, had they waited for an ambulance. The horror on Hop’s face was all Raihan needed to act fast. With Gloria taking over the fight with Eternatus, Raihan knew Hop was in good hands.

He got Leon to the hospital in the nick of time. And after several hours of intense agony, they were able to stabilize Leon.

As for Rose, he turned himself in. Surprising given just how determined he was to get away with the harm he caused Leon. Maybe there was a tiny bit of regret in Rose’s heart. A morsel of guilt.

Not that it mattered as far as Raihan was concerned. The moment he was arrested, he wasn’t just charged with starting the Darkest Day. With the evidence Raihan had gathered, he was also charged with several counts of abuse.

Leon wasn’t expected to testify unless the trial absolutely called for it. But given the photos and videos, Raihan doubted it. There was no room to deflect or deny what Raihan had caught.

That was a good thing. Or as good as it could be given the circumstances. All that mattered was that Leon was safe. Finally, truly safe. Even if the road to recovery was long.

Leon whimpered, pulling Raihan out of his train of thought. Tears streamed down his face as he curled into a ball. Wrapping his arms around Leon, Raihan tightly held him. Burying his face in Leon’s hair, Raihan’s darkened.

Leon almost died today. All because of greed, control, and jealousy. All because a man wanted to keep Leon to himself in the most possessively abusive way. And had Raihan not been there, Rose just might have enslaved Leon to obey his desires.

Running his hand down Leon’s back, he reminisced on the scar that had formed. The ugly, thorny scar caused by a selfish and ugly man. Raihan didn’t prevent it, and now Leon would have to live with the trauma for the rest of his life.

A sharp gasp escaped Leon as he violently woke up. Taking a moment to investigate his surroundings. Once he realized he was safe, he felt a damp spot on his head. Shuffling, he propped himself up. Teal eyes were drowning in tears.

Leon yelped as Raihan pulled him down. Leon awkwardly laid on Raihan as one arm wrapped around Leon’s waist and the other around Leon's shoulders. The dragon trainer hid his face Leon’s shoulder, sobbing.

“You almost died.” Raihan whispered. “You almost… I can’t…” A choking sound escaped him. “Leon, I can’t lose you.”

Softly smiling, Leon shuffled around. He lightly kissed Raihan’s forehead, wrapping his arms around Raihan’s shoulders. Resting his head on the pillow, he tilted his face toward his partner.

“You won’t lose me.” Leon assured. “I promise.” He kissed his check. “In fact, you saved me. You were my light when I was in the dark. You showed me how to stand my ground and how to love.” He hugged Raihan tighter. “I love you and I’m thankful that you continue to save me everyday.”

A roar of a sob escaped Raihan as he held Leon tighter. Whispering sweet nothingness to Raihan, Leon let Raihan expel his fear, grief, and pain. They would both need aid after today. But so long as they were together, Leon was confident they would be okay.

An everyday death

Just a little part of a short fic I am writing. Part 1/? with the polycule ship pairing of Raihan x Leon x Piers from Pokemon Sword and Shield. Premise: Piers accidentally happens upon his two exes sharing a kiss in the locker rooms after an event at the Wyndon stadium. While silently pining, Piers stands by his decision to having broken up with them during their respective times spent together, although his reasons are not explicitly outlined (yet) No nsfw, although Piers is technically naked in the shower. No, I did not proofread, and if I go back to do so, I will end up hating the fic and never posting. c:

Sometimes, you just had to let it go. People spent far too much time already dwelling on what wasn’t, hoping what couldn’t be. And as far as the rockstar and dark-type gym leader was concerned, Pier had done just that. His eye was on the prize, the roaring crowds swelling with excitement, a budding pokemon trainer in his younger sister; even just living in the moment was enough to get him by. He thought he was over it. But really, it was a lot tougher to see in person two people he had dated and loved share a stolen kiss in the locker rooms where they thought no one else was there. 

He slid the shower curtain back and turned back on the water. It was Leon’s voice that echoed nervously at the thought of having been caught. Understandably, news of the Champion of Galar dating someone would be the subject of tabloids for months and the paparazzi would be impossible to shake. “O-Oh! Someone in here? S-sorry we were just.. Um… ta.. Talking!” He lied poorly. 

“Hm.” Piers grunted, figuring that while he was hiding there, he would go a second round on conditioning his hair. It always could do with a bit more, and it was not like they were going to wait there all day. Perks of the Wyndon stadium and all that Dynamaxing… Plenty of hot water. 

“Woah, wait. That Nezu?” Raihan’s low gravel inquired apprehensively, but for a whole different reason entirely. 

“Not my name.” Piers stated in monotone, squeezing a mound of sweet pea scented conditioner into his pale hand with a squelch. He had gripped the bottle a bit harder than he intended, causing excess to ooze over. He hadn’t heard that pesky nickname in a while… 

Heavy footsteps approached the shower stall, one set stopping before the other-- at Raihan’s towering physique, he could easily peer over the curtain by mistake. Not that there was anything beyond that Raihan hadn’t seen before… So conscientious when not wanting to encroach on privacy, but ducking beneath doorways seemed to be oh so much more difficult. But that was because the guy was practically always on his phone, posting reels to his stories and stirring trouble. 

“Nezu, huh? Like a mouse?” Leon laughed a bit, endeared, but he did not laugh long, still entirely too nervous. 

“Like… it’s not my name.” Piers asserted again. It wasn’t anymore. He had let it go almost a year ago now. 

A prolonged silence weighed in the locker room, and Piers could practically see Leon squirming as the soft-hearted idiot struggled to form words. Even now at the top, the Champion of Galar hated being unkind. A far better person than Piers ever was, that much the rockstar was certain. He rubbed his hands together and started to comb through his abundance of hair, fingers falling easily through the well-kept strands. He had, afterall, already thoroughly gone through the process once, but there was no telling when these two would leave. 

Naturally, Raihan came to the rescue. “Honestly thought you went back to Spikemuth after performing at the opening ceremony. Did you stay to watch the exhibition matches?” Casual, as ever. The smooth-talker could just about change any atmosphere into a comfortable one.

…. …Sharply, through his nose, Piers took in a breath, held it, then let it all go in a sigh. “Chairman was huntin’ me again. Something about a sponsor… still had a slot open today for a ‘special re-match’...” He groaned in recollection. 

“Oh yeah? That kid who challenged you a bunch recently yeah?” Raihan hummed. 

“You mean that psychic-user…” The frown in Leon’s voice could be heard, his commentary, even if not elaborated on being rather self-explanatory. 

“Hmh.” Piers affirmed. “I don’t mind her comin’ back to Spikemuth to earn her badge, just…” He threw his head back as he violently shook his head like a dog, droplets pattering against the curtain. “Saw her team-- nothing’s changed. She just wants to Dynamax.. Mom’s got big connections with the branded merch they sell at the games.” He began to grumble after this, his annoyance at the whole situation quite clear. 

“... I understand.” Leon offered empathetically in that warm honeyed tone of his. “It is only right to feel upset if someone is trying to circumvent you for a badge. Maybe… I go talk to the Chairman!” Leon offered excitedly, and it made Piers’ chest constrict. “I know how much you hate being backed into a corner!”

Ironic, but…Even after all this time, Leon was still the same kind guy Piers had dated. Same one that was willing to take all sorts of unnecessary risks. All for someone else. 

“It’s fine. Even if I fought her team today, she wouldn’t get her badge.” Piers said quietly, now just letting the water beat down on his head, eyes shutting. 

“What do you mean that it is fine? Clearly Chairman Rose doesn’t understand how important it is to you that--” Leon had begun to contest, but Raihan interjected with a hearty clap to his boyfriend’s shoulders, practically corralling him into a big squeeze. Leon was, afterall, charming and he had evidently met his limit. It was also to get Leon’s attention. “Nezu’s got it. He’s saying she wouldn’t win even with Dynamaxing, so whatever is coming his way…” He trailed, giving Leon a squeeze, although this time it was more for himself. 

“He’s got it, right?”

At first, Piers was quite. The sound of that silly, silly nickname sank in his heart like a dead weight, the fondness spoken in those two syllables, the amount of confidence Raihan had in him… It made Piers want to curl into a ball and stop existing. 

“Yup.” He replied dispassionately, but something about it felt entirely too hollow. There was apathy, and then there was scooping out chunks of your chest and observing that yes, indeed, a crater was there. Sure, it was empty, but the emptiness ached long after that dazzling champion of Galar and his unstoppable right hand said their goodbyes and left Piers alone. 

But with every ache, there was a reminder. Piers had chosen this. If the pain he felt now was the price of their happiness, then there would not go a day where he would say he wished to stop bleeding. 

Because when you truly loved something, you just had to let it go.
