I know I’ve spoken about it before, about the Fates having specific beef with Jason given how many times they tried to kill him, but I’m so amused today thinking about the comedy angle of the Fates constantly cutting Jason’s red string and - usually not even himself - but his friends just running in to hastily tie the two ends back together before sauntering off hands in their pockets and whistling like nothing happened so this kid just can’t die. And how annoyed these three old crones must be every time they look back and see it re-tied and having to wait for another deadly set up to cut his string again and just having to hope this one sticks.
He gets fried seeing Juno’s true form, and the Fates are giggling with their scissors ready “snippety snip”, and cut his string.
They look back and Piper is there tying the ends together blinking at them simply “I’m sorry, but I haven’t had my kiss yet. You’ll have to wait.”
Damn. So then the suitors nail him, and he’s dying from that slowly. “Snippety snip snip.”
And they look back and Jason’s guiltily tying off the ends after curing himself, giving them the full puppy eyes treatment “I haven’t had grandkids yet.”
For shit’s sake. So they have to wait and finally the final battle comes around and they know he’s going to have to sacrifice himself to take down Gaia. He’s poised to do so, he made up his mind a long time ago, he’s well on his way - “Snippety snip snip snip” and -
Leo’s double knotting the ends insistently. “I’m sorry, he’s just too pretty to die. I haven’t had my kiss yet.”
At this point I’m genuinely convinced Jason only needed glasses halfway through HoO out the blue like that because the Fates had gotten desperate and decided to worsen his eyesight hoping he’d just walk himself off a cliff or onto somebody’s sword accidentally.

Ok, hear me out-
Hoo AU where Gaia doesn't wake up but Hera, in a fit of rage (she's an olympian, she's usually angry about something or the other), swaps Percy and Jason and releases a bunch of the giants and monsters from the underworld. This means most of the first two books goes exactly the same way.
Except, when Leo fires on camp Jupiter, instead of the seven hopping on the Argo II and flying off to save the world, they have to stay because the whole point was to unite the two camps. So Rome doesn't go in pursuit, but all the Greek demigods are taken hostage, including Percy because everyone thinks he betrayed them.
Now, Reyna's grappling with her loyalty to Rome and her gut instincts that the Greeks are telling the truth. Jason's beginning to realise that not only is he not quite Roman anymore, he's fallen in love with a Greek (in my head this is Leo but if you prefer a different ship, you do you). Frank and Hazel are doing their best to help the Greeks without getting imprisoned themselves. Percy and Annabeth are trying to earn back the Romans' trust since they're the only ones who are allowed to negotiate. Leo and Piper are desperately forming escape plans for if the worst happens, while realising that the Romans can be pretty cool when they're not actively trying to kill them. Also, Grover is there because i say so and he basically unionises the fauns lmao.

How i think HoO should go.
The lost hero is fine it just needed a little polishing. Make it slightly more of a mystery of the roman camp rather than being beaten over the head about roman gods and then going i wonder the gods were talking about. (Paraphrased line from leo during his talk with hepheastus.)
Slim down the background characters. Mitchell and lacy are the exact same character font with a different gender and never appear again in HoO. The hepheastus cabin head (the one in a full body cast i can't remember his name) should be replaced by Nyssa, who gets a limb taken out by the dragon and that's why the camp is trying to remove it rather than a camper who gets mostly healed by the end of the.
The monsters fights were hard (arguably, Piper failed her fight since her charmspeak couldn't overpower medeas, and medea was alive after the fight)
Son of Neptune is the start of most of the changes.
MAJOR CHANGES
Remove Octavian as a villian. The book spent so much time on trying to establish him as a villian that Gaias plot was left lacking.
Keep him as an antagonist similar to drew or make him a reluctant but distrustful ally like Clarisse and use the other scenes to set up different Gaia plots or the approaching army.
Let camp jupiter reflect how we were introduced via jason. A place where they brand children, use child soldiers despite having adults, and crush people's personalities so they fit an outdated, homogenous persona.
Percy shouldn't feel comfortable in Camp Jupiter. The whole sea doesn't like to be restrained thing.
Make the minor monster fights harder and compliment the person fighting. Percy taking down Phineas via plot armor (despite Gaia never having a plot that needed Percy, her rising just needed the blood of 2 demigods one male one female) was stupid.
MINOR CHANGES
When Percy and co. is about to leave CJ, instead of percy dreaming about Grover he should dream about either Gaia or the impending army.
The hierarchy should have years of service requirements for ranks. Sort of like an actual military does. Percy should not be able to become praetor after 1.5-2 days in camp, 1 week as a member of Camp, and skip 3 entire ranks.
Hazel should start using her gold as shields after Frank goes into Hazel's flashback. Give a bit of variety to the fighting styles of the 7.
Frank should use his bow in combination with his shapeshifting. Maybe he gets sent on scouting out enemy's and is the ranger part of the group.
Sammy is no longer related to Leo and instead the drama comes from the frank and Leo tension comes from Leo's personality. Frank gets over it as he gets to know leo better.
THING I AM IFFY ON
Who become praetor because I refuse to accept percy winning the praetorship. He also has 4 really big things that should have made it harder for him: his time at CJ, him being a rumored greek, CJ believing him to be neptune kid, and him being from the fifth cohort (honestly 5 if u consider he showed up with a goddess who literally said theirs an invasion coming).
On one hand, i think Gwen should have been made praetor and not killed off to develop octavian as a character and to move frank up through the ranks.
On the other, it would have made perfect sense to make the final battle a lot harder and have the rest of the Seven help out towards the end.
Although none of this really matters since the praetorship election isn't super important since octavian isn't a main villian anymore.
Mark of Athena is only really needs a couple of changes
BIG CHANGES
removing the roman vs greek war and having Nemesis be the one to help during the battle between ephialtis and otis.
The war didn't actually hinder the 7 in any real way. They fled camp jupiter, had a minor skirmish in Charleston, and then the war proceeded to slowly progress hell almost come to a halt until the middle of HoH (it took them i think half of MoA to get to the east coast and then another whole book and a half to actually do something vaguely plot progressing. Thx octavian).
Nemesis giving Leo the fortune cookie was great but how it was used so stupidly. Instead he should have used it to summon her during the final battle and have it actually correlate to Annabeth falling into Tartarus.
Baccus' meeting with piper, Jason, and Leo isn't needed anymore since the war isn't going on.
Makes it so his guilt doesn't feel weirdly out of place in HoH.
We're destroying both camps. Yes including camp half-blood. MoA needs to up the stakes to show how much of a threat Gaia is and what better way is for her to succeed where the titans didn't. (Luke and/or Kronos failed to destroy the camps twice once during SoM and the other during BoLT (hehe the acronym is bolt))
How, by using the fauns of course. Rick either unintentionally established that nature deities and spirits were joining Gaia (the gods of wind, goddesses of snow and the rainbow, the barley spirits, lycaons wolf pack).
It wouldn't have been hard. Coach Hedge sets it off, he goes down with the 7, meets don, and starts boasting of all the shit he claims to do.
We know what happens when inexperienced Satyrs use nature magic. It can accidentally hurt people (grover leading percy straight into some thick branches in TLT)
Imagine what would happen if Don and some other fauns tried to do nature magic. Combine that with Gaia doing some whispering about them being literally homeless beggers (also side not describing Don as having an afro and literally begging feels wrong to me).
This leads to the group splitting into people wanting to rescue romans, people wanting to check on camp half-blood, and Annabeth who makes the final decision to continue with the quest.
SMALL CHANGES
Piper is the one sent to Calypso's island. Leo will be remaining single and will get his on time later.
Your telling me that a goddess forcibly sent onto a island was more than willing to leave despite it being millennium since she was free. Yes it was a punishment but it felt like the punishment was the gods sending men who was her type
Also pair it narratively with Piper, a girl who was given false memories of a boy she fell in love with, to Calypso, a goddess who is sent people she can't help fall in love with, and it adds some depth to Piper and Jason's relationship if Piper sees this, compared it to how she met Jason, and still decides at the end of BoO to stay together.
Maybe let the gods keep that oath but Calypso finds the island home and stays despite being allowed to leave.
And quite frankly, with how Khione acted in TLH I don't think she would understand platonic romances (I couldn't think of the word)
Another thing is that it kinda felt that rescuing nico and the mark of Athena quests were kinda separate despite having the same prophecy.
Maybe have the Annabeths quest lead to the building Nico is being held in, have a mechanical contraption leo solves as the doorway, and then have Annabeth split from the group.
Percy and Annabeth are not going to go on a date with all this going on.
House of Hades is mostly a rewrite of the non-tartarus scenes. The rest of the 7 were doing side quests while Percy and Annabeth were doing plot stuff.
BIG CHANGES
The quest should be finding a way to open the doors of death on the mortal side. Maybe using diocletians staff so it actually has a plot purpose rather than just a character purpose.
Frank can still get his vent session but instead of it being at the end of the series its during one the times they split into smaller groups. Maybe during their time with triptolemus, trip was gifted as a way to make up for persephones abduction but he is still salty and has his canon interaction with hazel.
Nico is not going to be a main character. He can be a secondary character but it felt like he took over some scenes that someone from the Seven should have filled.
Like the cupid scene. Leo should have been the one their confessing how he flirts with people as a way of distracting others and as a way of disconnecting from people rather than the awful coming out that nico got.
Nico is still gay though.
Only really change in Tartarus is going to be the Alkys and Nyx scenes. Since Calypso isn't unreasonably angry at percy for something he never promised, Nyx can take over the Annabeth not being able to find Percy.
Make it a real orpheus and eurydice retelling and make the escape from Nyx a trust fall type situation rather than them jumping twenty feet.
We keep Bob as the actual eurydice like he was in canon (i refuse to acknowledge The sun and the star as a continuation of this plot)
Small Bob does escape with them though.
At the very end instead of just Reyna meeting up with the 7, a group CHB and CJ meet up.
The group contains Octavian, Rachel, Reyna, Nyssa, Will, Michael Kahille, Drew, and a few background characters.
They are the ones to take the statue of Athena to Athens because the heart of the gods being in New York was not good.
Athens is where the new camp will be set up.
MINOR CHANGES
Make the fights harder. It felt like nobody every really got injured. Jason gets knocked out a lot but other than bring stabbed in the back in BoO but the rest never seemed to get majorly taken out or even felt human.
Everyone got of fights easily, nobody was really injured in a way that actually made it harder for them plot wise.
Maybe Hazel's fainting spells start coming back since that's a medical condition that normally doesn't get fixed via the power of love. Leo or Piper could have fainted from exhaustion by overusing their powrrs since they'd only learned about demigods less than a year ago.
Switch of the pairing and allow the SoN trio and TLH trio to actually bond outside of their introductory books.
Show Hazel attempting and failing to use the mist during a couple of the minor encounters with monsters.
Add in a few throwaway lines of the earth behaving erratically like we got in the original series. News anchors talking about how tectonic plates were shifting in drastic ways or how extreme weather patterns were forming out of nowhere
Blood of Olympus needs the most work done
MAJOR CHANGES
Reyna and Nico arent povs. They were the best out of this book and it took away from the 7.
Their povs aren't needed since the war doesn't exist and we don't need him to get the statue back to long island.
The 7 give the Parthenos to the mixed groups of romans and greeks that met up with them at the end of HoH and we only hear about it in the rare occasional Annabeth chapter.
The original journey took away from the whole Gaia rising thing and the whole fixing the split between roman and greek personality thing the gods had going on was never really an issue for the 7 so fixing it never really mattered.
Also just returning the statue never made much sense because the split was caused by the romans syncretyzing (spelling is probably wrong) their gods with the greeks so the parthenos shouldn't have fixed that.
The final battle with Gaia should happen near the original olympus like she said it would (rip the gods roots out at their beginning or something along those lines) or it shouldn't happen at all.
Kinda torn on this because if its the 7 and gods stalling until the 1st of August is over than it kinda ends anticlimactic but if Gaia does rise then we have to go the canon route of "killing" her in the sky.
With the canon option, she needs to be a bigger threat. Maybe she slowly rising from the earth and attacking her seems to do nothing.
Give her a physical looking body rather than the formless cloud of dirt she was in canon. Can get a funny but terrifying scene of Gaia stretching as soon as she wakes up.
The gods attack while the demigods deal with the remaining giants that are approaching. They realize that they are barely doing anything since Gaia is both healing them and they can't kill them since they gods are distracted trying to prevent Gaias rise.
This is where the whole gods and mortals working together thing happens. Instead of pairing up with their parents though they pair up with the god most different from their parents.
Piper and Annabeth with Ares and vise versa with Frank, Hazel and Percy swap (Pluto being very rigid in how he runs his domain vs Poseidon being relaxed and laid back), Leo works with Zeus and Jason Hepheaustus.
This way the demigod can fill in the gaps where the god isn't able to.
If the fight is to a stalement the battle ends when Reyna and Annabeth get the statue back to its original place in Athens and the pathenos sets up a new barrier for a new camp.
If its not, then frank is dying in this battle. I mean frank is dying anyway since he is the one I'm going to choose to defeat Gaia since he's both storm and fire (legacy of Poseidon and the whole lifeline stick thing of his).
MINOR CHANGES
Orion hunting Reyna is shown on page rather than only showing the end of the encounter. Makes the journey rougher since Octavian isn't an issue anymore.
The 7 going to Ithaca has an actual plot reason now. It being they need to learn where Gaia intends to rise from since they're are so many important places in Greece.
The physicians cure does not exist and the trip to Delos to meet Apollo doesn't happen because we aren't doing the trials of Apollo.
We are doing trials of Hera instead.
A couple of minor myths Rick didn't touch on for some reason make an appearance, like Hypolyta, that one male hunter whose name is can't remember, or the story of Cadmus.
Make the fights more dangerous. I feel like I put this on every single book.
AT THE END OF THE SERIES
Hera was already cast out of Olympus in an earlier book so their is no need for Apollo to be turned mortals. Also no Octavian being a villian helps.
The gods help build up a new camp for both the romans and greeks. Maybe the romans get a camp near troy while the greeks get Athens or they both share one single camp.
The Parthenos replace Thalias tree and the romans no longer have to post guards outside their tunnel.
The greeks should help lighten up the remaining romans attitudes while the romans help the greeks build up a safe city for the demigods to live in.
Make use of the whole Romans are good at building things quickly that got established during the war games.
The oracle thing still happened so Hera is fixing that. Octavian, Rachel, and Ella are working on deciphering the few remaining pieces off the temple of Jupiter alongside what Ella remembers of the original Sybilline books.

A new au for you guys
Copper blood (inspired by immortal leo, sizeshifting jason and wuthering waves)
When hera tried to roast leo mortality away, she actually managed to burn good part of it before esperanza stopped her, for most of leo life he was a half immortal kid who didnt had any idea of that, he normally was just kid living his life with adhd but sometimes he would just blackout and appear in a completely different place, it was like his immortal part had its own conscience and that kept happening until the incident with gaia
After the incident leo stopped using his powers and his immortal part started to fell at sleep not appearing unless leo was in danger which leo didnt renember happening, but after so much time of leo mortal part not using his powers the immortal part fell completly at sleep not waking up even after leo started using his powers again years later
It only waked up after leo died killing gaea and theres is when the story really starts
(Leo comes back to the camp half blood after convincing the gods to take Calypso out of Island and Jason doesnt die in the events of toa)
Leo starts to have the same problems he had as a kid blacking out without reason and waking up in other places but this time they come accompanied of nightmares of his childhood in the church being called "el diablo" by his own family
At the same time some campers start seeing a creature who looks like lion with horns other report seeing a demon walking around the camp
One day Jason and Piper decide to pass the entire day with leo to see what is happening to him, but nothing happens no blackouts no awaking in random place nothing, until they all go to sleep together in the bunker 9
Jason is awake by a sound and movement, when he open his eyes and look around he realise 2 things, that leo is not with them and two the lion with horn getting out of the bunker
He wake piper up and they start to chase the lion thinking that he did something with leo
When they finaly manages to catch up, the creature tranforms into the "demon" a creature some inchs taller than jason with demon horns lion ears, fangs, tail and even the legs looked like a mix of lion and human , but more important he looks to much like leo, the same curly hair and brown skin with burning scars from the explosion even the same clothes, the think it might be trick or that the creature could pe possesing leo but the creature mumur something using leo voice "yo no soy el diablo"
Piper finally realizes something and uses her charmspeak "leo wake up please"
And thats when all pieces come together and leo wake up still transformed having no idea what is happening

Hot take but the whole “who is the most powerful demigod” debate is stupid.
Percy is not the most powerful demigod. Nico is not the most powerful demigod. Leo- despite vaporising a primordial goddess with his bare hands- is NOT the most powerful demigod.
The whole POINT of the Seven is that they’re all meant to be EQUALS in power. Or at least that’s what they are in theory, but in a desperate attempt to keep Percy as the main character they nerfed everyone else.
They each have unique abilities, which complement and contradict each other- working together as a team. They all have their own specific set of skills that they bring to the table. Neither should be more important than the other.
Yes Percy almost killed the goddess of misery with her own poison. Yes Nico can kill a person with a touch. But Hazel prevented Gaia from rising another seventy years. Piper can charmspeak literal gods. Jason defeated Krios single-handedly (we never see it but we’re told about it). Frank had to be given a physical handicap from the UNIVERSE ITSELF for being too powerful. Reyna has two ferocious robot lie-detector dogs, lived on Circe’s island so knows some magic and shit, lived with Pirates for a while, single-handedly ran CJ for eight months while trying to keep Octavian off her back AND led the legion into battle when the time came- not to mention the fact that she can basically amplify anyone’s strength/lend them hers. We don’t even have TIME to dive into all the times Annabeth has been seriously OP. Plus, Leo has a 60-tonne fire-breathing dragon, is the first fire user in nearly four centuries AND defeated Gaia.
I would’ve loved it if they’d all played equal part in the final battle against Gaia instead of Leo doing all the work. While I’m not complaining that Rick made my favourite character the most important in the end, I kinda think that if you’ve got a concept of Seven demigods each with their own role to play you should actually make their roles all equal- not just wait ‘til you find out who the fan favourite is and then give him the most significant job.
GIVE EACH MEMBER OF THE SEVEN EQUAL NUMBER OF POV CHAPTERS IN THE BOOKS PLEASE.
Perhaps it’s my neuros diverging, but I HATE it when things aren’t mathematically equal or don’t line up correctly. Fold a piece of paper in half all wonky-like in front of me I dare you.
The Lost Hero? Flawless! Each character gets two chapters, and it all rotates in the same cycle until we end up back with who we started. Admittedly Jason gets two extra chapters at the end but that just means we can give Piper and Leo more chapters in the other books. Son Of Neptune? Great! Percy gets a few more chapters in ratio to Frank and Hazel, though. Mark Of Athena?
All the Greek demigods get a POV! That’s fine! But where’s our book dedicated to just the Roman characters? House Of Hades? FANTASTIC! Everyone in the Prophecy gets a POV.
But wait! There’s more! Now there’s two new characters who need POVs, making the fandom have to write out a whole “the seven plus Nico and Reyna” thing even though the series is literally called Heroes of Olympus and so you could just call them that but that’s besides the point. Controversial, but I don’t mind the lack of Percabeth POVs in Blood of Olympus. We kinda already know a lot about them already and I wanna give my other pookies a time to shine. But the fact that Frank and Hazel only get TWO books with POVs meanwhile Leo and Piper get FOUR-
As much as I love them all, I just think that nine characters in five books might’ve been Rick biting off more than he can chew. We know this because of how hastily they had to wrap up Leo’s arc and the “oath to keep with a final breath” line in the Prophecy in the last chapter, and how Frank, Hazel and Reyna don’t get completed arcs until TOA.
But anyway, I think that “Percy is the most powerful”- while I know it’s an opinion most of the fandom share- is actually erasing the whole concept of HOO. Seven characters, equally powerful, for different reasons. And if Rick had just stuck to that concept, it would’ve been much more stylistically pleasing (with an equal number of chapters for each character) and be able to shine a light on characters like Frank and Hazel who are kinda pushed to the sides in the books. It made the final battle kinda anticlimactic just to have the Lost Trio and mostly Leo defeat Gaia, and just kinda made the ending underwhelming imo.

Seven — fourteen chapters of The Lost Hero
I don't like Chiron. I so much don't like him.
Sounds of sounds how CHB effectively lost the Battle of Manhattan if not Luke's suicide. No wonder fandom forgetting important things, when the author writes something weird about his own plot.
Rick is artificially trying to make things more important
although this is not even necessary, considering that the past repeats itself (literally, this is the main idea of these books, which I really don't like). C'mon, Rick, that's scary, too!
It's very strange when Piper's father arouses more emotions and interest in me than, in fact, the main characters.
“Yes,” the centaur said. “I know the Ares cabin is anxious to return to the woods for our regular games.” “And kill people!” one of them shouted.
First of all, Rick, trauma after war is what? Secondly
well, yeah, I sure don't like CHB demigods. As far as I concerned they all can be dead, I don't care. Bad writing, babe.
Yeah, Rick, we got you have a thing for unreasonable jealousy. The problem it's making me don't like Piper even more.

is here the way Rick can humiliating Aphrodite and her cabin even more?

Well, how do you like it? Was Percy's first quest problematic because he's a rookie? Well, he at least had some training from Luke. And here two of the three are absolutely useless in battle, the third one with amnesia. đŸ«€

does Rick even understand that the whole story of Gaia's direct interference (as well as Hera's one) in Leo's mom's death is a proof that these "ancient laws" of non-interference are complete bullshit? (a cold glance towards Hermes)

I don't like it. I seriously don't like what Rick wrote (I mean dragon's cavern).
I never thought that I would say it, but Rick demonizing fucking wolves.
What reason did Rick have to make Zeus' cabin uninhabitable when Percy didn't have such problems? Oh, right, Percy's his favorite.
She was maybe fifteen, with black hair — choppy like Piper’s — a black leather jacket, and silver jewelry, so she looked kind of goth;
A few words about how much Rick and his editors don't give a fuck. And no, this can't be pushed off to Jason's POV — the assumption that Annabeth "maybe eight" makes sense, since in fact she only recently turned 7, but it's worth trying to confuse a twelve-year-old with a fifteen-year-old, especially against the background of fourteen-year-old Luke, whose age guessed correctly. UPD: "but she still looks the same as in that picture, like she’s about
well, about your age. Fifteen or sixteen?" definitely Rick's and editors' fault — that's Annabeth's words.

I would complain how Thalia wasn't really "on her own" for years, because the first thing Amaltheia did is lead her to Luke so she wouldn't be alone (I guess technically he wrote TDOLC later, right?), but whatever.
It's very strange that Annabeth couldn't think of anything after "lupa" even though most demigods understand Latin (yes, Greek too), and this is a very well-known myth, especially considering all the other hints about Rome. I don't think this stupidity is doing Annabeth any favor.

One of the differences between the first and second war in the books are the deaths.
PJO had so much campers dropping dead from TTC to TLO,and some of them even changed side to join Luke. So,when they were actively fighting the war, they were barely more than 80 demigods for CHB,and in those 80 people some of them died. I think at the end of TLO only 40 campers survived (I probably did the math wrong here since I don't remember well their final number). But regardless of the wrong math or not, that war had a lot of losses, both with the campers that stayed at CHB,and those that went with Luke.
That was a massacre between friends, families and values so the emotional damage was also extremely heavy on them. In BotL and TLO siblings had to off each other because they become each other enemies. Friends where trying to kill other friends because it was Luke's order and they were threatening their lives. The whole camp itself lost its integrity during PJO and the Ares Cabin come to their sense because of Silena. A lot of people, friends and siblings died, and most of them were probably still unclaimed by their own parents. They would never know that some of their victims were their own siblings.
Other than the high dead count, their emotions were a big play in this too. Those people are all traumatized by it and it's so strange that other than the aftermath in TLO and a bit of words in TLH,we never saw the full damage of it.
In comparison the war against Gaia is....that's not even a war?? Gaia herself is treated more of a danger when she is in the shadows plotting, still partly sleeping, than when she actually wake up. The main focus here should be the battle against the Giants and her,but we also have the "war" between romans and greeks. The thing is that is not a war since nothing really happens in it and they were more concerned about killing the monsters Octavian's got, instead of ending each other.
The dead count here doesn't even exist. Untill the end of SoN every demigod that died come back to life, and even after Frank,Hazel and Percy freed Thanatos nothing changed: the people that were killed stayed alive (yes,I'm referring to Gwen). But other than that there weren't deaths. There wasn't the weight of the sacrifice that you need to do for winning something, like in PJO. And the way they killed Gaia also didn't had repercussions on them. I was waiting for Piper to loose her voice or powers forever since she put a sleep the Earth herself. That never happened. Hazel had to die to "kill" Alcyoneus the first time, but in SoN? Nothing happened. Frank had to burn his life to get Thanatos out of his chains, but then? Nothing happened. Leo killed himself only to come back alive so his death is meaningless, and the campers found out about it a couple of weeks later so they never grieved much. Percy knew Gaia was going to choose him so he gambled his life fully knowing he was going to win either way.
Where is the real weight? Where is the real anxiety of not knowing if they're going to make it or not? Where are the real sacrifices? Where is the emotional conflict? The only people that died for real were Bryce and Octavian (we thanks Nico for that) but they were asshole so they don't really count. Bob? Damasen? Probably alive or reforming, but knowing that in TSATS they went to Tartarus for Bob,I think he is still alive at least. Gwen? Alive and well, living in New Rome. That's it. Some people almost died or got close to it (read: the main characters) but at the end of the day everything went fine.
The emotional scars are there and it's normal to have them after having so many near-death experience during HoO,but those technically aren't from the conflict itself, just from their quest like every other demigod. We felt the anxiety for them but nothing ever happened because the main characters always survive. The problem start when they become side characters for someone else story,so they can get killed easily since theirs already ended (read: Jason).
Honestly,it wasn't even a war since they spent 300 pages traveling. When I read the book I was pretty anxious when, even after half of it,they were all still traveling. I thought the "war" was going to get half of BoO but I believed it too much, since they ended everything in just 4 chapters from Jason and Nico PoVs. It was underwhelming. And it's as if the author wanted to publicize the message: "it's not the end that matters but the journey" with how much time they spent to actually get to places they needed to be,instead of fighting.
Having no one truly make a sacrifice and truly challenge their own fate, and taking away from the losses we already had,was something that really lowered the bar for this war. And the problem is that the war against Gaia should had been more demanding from the one against Kronos. She treated to destroy everyone and everything once she woke up in her true form, while Kronos was in Luke's body (with him trying to battle him at the end mind you) trying to take over the Empire State Building. Realistically who is more dangerous? And who also is the one that got put to sleep with the voice of a flying girl and a boy blowing himself up? Yeah.
HoO final conflicts have a lot of issues between the giants in Athens,Gaia at CHB and Octavian trying to start a war in the meantime. Maybe it's too much to handle for Riordan. Maybe he shouldn't had put the conflict between the camps since it got more spotlight than Gaia herself, the real problem and final boss of this serie. If done right, and with more time,it could have been something extremely good, but Riordan spent most of the time making the characters travel instead of actually doing the things they needed to do,so at the end he never had enough time to do anything. And taking away the weight and the losses of the war was another thing that made it worse.

been rereading moa and got to the part where percy v jason in kansas with piper. this is mirrored almost EXACTLY to jason v leo @ medeas with piper. it doesnt matter which one of them dies or both of them could but jason and leo are definitely the prophecy kids. this is undeniable. so kansas is where they learn that one male and one female need to die for gaea. i think... leo was supposed to be there instead of percy. leo is the first one to have an eidolon. then jason would get caught and so would piper.... instead percy was a more enticing option than piper so he gets possessed instead. cuz the only reason why Leo isn't there is because he decides to take time to work on the ship... and piper is cautious because her dagger katropis can see the future. SO THIS IS MY THOUGHT: the cyclops try to kill piper + jason. then medea faces leo and jason because she can see the future and she knows these 3 are the kids to kill. then midas freezes leo and piper. then khione just goes ballistic lmao. and cuz they are all failures, GAIA gotta put in the work herself and she expects those 3 to be in Kansas— bacchus even realizes that kansas was a trap and leaves LMAO. when the eidolons fail, khione gets to do round 4 in hoh (the calypso thing).... the monsters tend not to be too picky later on, but i think the one girl one boy was always supposed to be PIPER + JASON/LEO but her dagger and unusually strong abilities gave her an unexpected edge. aphrodite even says, piper can see all possibilities as her daughter.... The possibilities being the ones that medea and the eidolons shouldve gave her: jason or leo, to storm or fire, greek or roman, titans or gods, demigod or mortal. piper's entire issue in tlh is trying to figure out her loyalties and decide if she should betray her friends. piper also CHOSE katropis out of every weapon, the same weapon as helen of troy of all ppl? Piper is ALWAYS put in the position of choosing and putting her heart on line: extremely fitting for daughter of aphrodite and adversary to gaia. i tried thinking, why the fuck does piper have charmspeak.... Its cuz she can take away other people's choices and make them her own- this is the MAIN reason she hates charmspeak too. Are you guys seeing what im saying ... "The prophecy was always about us three" ← i just think piper was intended to be more entangled but some. other. writing choices were made last minute :)

I realize it's been forever since I've done one of these so welcome back to HOO but they're-found-family-because-we-deserved-better.
Okay so I actually think the rest of Ma Gasket is pretty okay.Leo realizes that Fetus's control disk has iced over(leading to an oh shit moment). He see's Gaia's face but doesn't listen. He does hestiate to use his fire but pushes through and fixes Festus right on up. He heads back inside and realizes that Jason and Piper are being strung up for dinner time.
In this Jason is not unconscious but instead has gone full feral mode, snapping and snaring and generally acting like he was raised by wolves(this is Not a Normal reaction and should make the readers a little curious about what Jason is doing. Up to this point he's been normal at least by demigod standards). Piper on the other hand is trying to negotiate, use her charmspeak but it's only working some of the time.
Leo needs to save them, but to do that he needs to use his fire and he hesitates because his fire is badbadbad it's what got his mom killed, what made him an orphan even Camp hates it. And he doesn't know if he's going to be able to control it. He's never tried it on this level before. he's panicked out of his mind, but his friends need him. So he makes a choice, he summons the flames and ultimately saves his friends. It is the first step on a long journey to reclaim a part of him.
Meanwhile Jason is fully freaked out by how fast the Cyclopes reform he couldn't explain why but he just knows this is wrong this is bad. So he's freaking out about that and trying to hide it , Leo is freaking out about the whole fire thing, Piper is freaking out about nearly dying none of them are having a good time.
Next stop Medea!

I see you don’t know what Valgrace is.
Hehe.
Time for my inner valgrace shipper to show.
I’ll explain.
Okay so this is Leo Valdez and Jason Grace from Hero’s of Olympus/Trials on Apollo, they don’t come out in Percy Jackson and the Olympian though
A common ship is Valgrace which is them because their so tragic it’s perfect!
Anyways time to explain why their so tragic.
Okay so their friends but Jason is in a relationship with Piper (no hate to Piper I love her too) but their relationship is all made up because Hera wiped Jason’s memory and gave them both fake memories. Jason got put in the wilderness camp, Leo, Jason and Piper met, their all friends and Jason and Piper are dating but once they get to camp their still dating yada-yada that’s just the backstory.
Anyways the prophecy is for the 7 (Leo, Jason, Piper, Hazel, Frank, Percy and Annabeth) somewhere in the prophecy it states:
“To storm or the world, fire must fall” it was something like I think, everyone assumed it was Leo who would die since he had fire powers and it was “Fire must fall” but really it was Jason who would die so they were all panicking in Hero’s of Olympus (the books) then to defeat Gaia, flew Festus (festus is a mechanical dragon) into the sky with Gaia in the claw, this is where he met Calypso (for the second time) then they started dating but we ignore that because I hate Caleo and so does like 99% of the fandom then in the trial Apollo this is where it gets messy,
So here Leo and Calypso are dating (unfortunately), Jason and Piper have broken up but Leo’s still missing, oh no! They all assumed he died and that Jason was safe, Nuh uh because Leo was still alive so while Meg, Lester, Piper and Jason where fighting Caligula, this is where Jason died, Jason got hit between the shoulder blades with Caligula’s spear which killed him. Then they went back to the Waystation and had another battle, after that Leo came back with Calypso. One of the first things he said when he got back was “Where’s Jason?” So I like to bring that line up but anyways if we just ignore Jason’s death ignore Calypso then Jason and Leo could be canon! They should’ve been canon. Most of the edits I make of them are either just normal Valgrace edits or about Jason’s death.
Jason dies of page 304, chapter 33 of book 3 (the burning maze) & Leo’s reaction to Jason’s death 414, chapter 46 of book three (the burning maze)
Tumblr media
The shorter one is Leo and the taller one is Jason in this fanart
NOOO THATS SO TRAGIC WHAT
They're so cute together 😭 idk how I got attached in a couple paragraphs but I did
Guess I got to read (watch?) this now, thanks for bringing it to my attention :3

The Curse of Oenone (Leo Valdez xFem!Oc)
A/N: I'll take a break to focus on the actual book I'm writing, but don't worry, I promise the final book will be the best one of all. See you in August! -Danny Words: 2,203 Series' Masterlist Previous Chapter // Next Book Listen to: 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For' -by U2
Tumblr media
LXIII: Which Boss Do I Have to Fight to Get Some Validation Around Here?
She knows all the people in this room, but the way she thinks about them, and how they interact with her now that she's physically different, is kind of off.
"We talked to Apollo," Ara starts explaining. "He said Gaia reawakened the Python, keeping the Oracle of Delphi prisoner—that's why Rachel can't see anything now."
Ella the harpy, Tyson, and Rachel will leave with the Romans, they'll try to rewrite the Sibylline books, which is why Ara called for a meeting.
"But Gaia is permanently asleep now," Will reasons. "That means Dad can kill the Python now!"
Ara grimaces. "But your father angered Zeus. We might not see him a while, or worse—"
"Wait, if we stop getting prophecies, that's completely alright," Nyssa replies. She's the counselor for Cabin Nine because Jake refused to step back in. "We lost two great inventors already, and it's not like Hephaestus goes out of his way to have tons of kids, our numbers are thinning—"
"I'm perfectly aware of it, Nyssa, thank you." Ara silences the girl. "But we should be worried about Apollo."
"Why? No more prophecies means peace!" Percy argues.
Ara gives him a look. "No more prophecies means we'll face our future problems blindly, and trust me, there will be problems. We've been stripped of our advantage, and that's not all that worries me."
"What is?" Piper asks reluctantly.
"Zeus will punish Apollo for his delulus of greatness, and he has a special way of humiliating Apollo... I'm pretty sure he'll use it again."
Will's face loses color. "That's terrible news! We could be left powerless! Our whole cabin!"
"I'm aware of that too," Ara sighs. "If this doesn't end well, you might lose them forever..."
"Hold on, time out," Percy intervenes. "I'm lost."
Annabeth explains. "Zeus once punished Apollo by stripping him of his godly status. He turned into a mortal, and was forced to do a series of trials until Zeus considered he'd humbled him enough."
Jason looks concerned. "What could've happened if he'd failed those trials?"
"He would've died, most likely," Ara says. "None of his descendants would've kept their powers, maybe. Some traits at best, whatever they could've learned in training, but stuff like—"
"Magic healing, music powers, perfect aim, the light..." Will shudders. "All gone."
"Your job is important," Ara turns to Rachel and Ella. "The books have information concerning what's next, maybe it'll tell us if we need to prepare in case Apollo's absence causes another conflict in Olympus. We mustn't get too comfortable in our peace."
She scans the room and sees the campers' good mood dying before her eyes. Ara's expression turns guilty, but she keeps going.
"Keep your eyes open. Apollo might reach out to any of us, he could show up at camp and have no memory of who he is—Gods, he might not even look like himself at all! But balance is needed whether we like it or not, if you find him, bring him to me."
No one is happy with her lecture, but Ara ends the meeting and sends the group of Romans away. Nico approaches her and nudges her arm. "You didn't need us after all. You kept them under control the whole time."
She smiles a little. "I thought they would fight me more on it."
"You're too scary now, but don't worry," Jason grins. "You'll get used to being almighty."
Almighty raises her myth.
What if that line was about her as much as it was about the sword? She's powerful nowadays, but hardly a myth. She would need to become history for that, and her death doesn't feel any closer.
"Ara?"
"Hmm?" She gives a start.
"I said, can you do me a favor now?" Nico asks, his eyes fixed on the Big House's entrance. "Stay near."
Ara is intrigued, she follows him out and sees what he'd been staring at from inside. "Hey, guys," Percy smiles at them. "Annabeth just told me some good news!"
"We're going to spend our senior year together," Annabeth beams, "here in New York. And after graduation—"
"College in New Rome!" Percy punches the air. "Four years with no monsters to fight, no battles, no stupid prophecies. Just me and Annabeth, getting our degrees, hanging out at cafĂ©s, enjoying California—"
"And after that..." Annabeth smiles sweetly at the boy. "Well, Reyna and Frank said we could live in New Rome as long as we like."
"That's great," Nico says, sounding genuine. "I'm staying too, here at Camp Half-Blood."
"What?" Ara looks at him with shock.
"Awesome!" Percy exclaims.
"So," Nico clears his throat, "since we're going to be spending at least a year seeing each other at camp, I think I should clear the air."
Percy hesitates. "What do you mean?"
"For a long time, I had a crush on you." Nico shrugs. "I just wanted you to know."
Percy looks at the boy blankly. "You—"
"Yeah. You're a great person. But I'm over that," he smiles a bit. "I'm happy for you guys."
"You... so you mean—"
"Right."
"Wait," Percy frowns. "So you mean—"
"Right. But it's cool. We're cool. I mean, I see now... you're cute, but you're not my type."
Ara snorts, not believing her ears.
"I'm not your type..." Percy blinks. "Wait. So—"
"This is gonna take a while," Ara guides Nico away with amusement.
The boy snickers. "See you around, Percy. Annabeth."
If that isn't surreal enough, Annabeth and Nico high-five, and then the boy openly smiles at Ara and pats her shoulder. Even if it's a closed smile, it's enough to bewild her. Nico makes his way down the porch steps and shouts at someone to wait for him. Will Solace, out of all people. Almost immediately, both boys glow in the same bright yellow light.
"Holy shit," Ara breathes.
"Huh," Lily says, coming out of nowhere. "Yeah, I can see it."
Ara jumps. "Gods, Lily, stop doing that!" She lowers her voice with confusion. "Did you see that, though?"
"What?" Annabeth grins at the girls. "Don't tell me you couldn't tell! I'm sure you were the first to find out!"
Ara looks at her smiling. "Yeah, what an idiot, right? But no, I meant..." She hesitates, it's still not her place to tell others what she just saw. "Nevermind. You know where Reyna is?"
"Talking to Piper by the lake," Lily responds. "Need me to come along?"
"Nah, it's fine, I gotta feed Pollo anyway," Ara shows her a lighthearted smile before walking away. "Go waste time with your elf."
"Don't call him that!"
"Don't forget Mom picks us up in an hour!" Percy shouts, coming out of his dazzled state.
Tumblr media
"There you are!" Ara finds Reyna and Piper. "Ready to go?"
"Yes. Again, thank you for letting us stretch our stay."
"You're always welcome here," Piper says. "If you need to take a break, get away... you've got Frank now—he could assume more responsibility for a while. It might do you good to make some time for yourself, when nobody is going to be looking at you as praetor."
"Would I be expected to sing that odd song about how Grandma puts on her armor?"
"Not unless you really want to," Piper grins. "But we might have to ban you from capture the flag. I have a feeling you could go against the entire camp solo and still beat us."
"I'll consider the offer. Thank you." Reyna pauses. "I wonder... You two are children of Venus. I mean Aphrodite. Perhaps—perhaps you could explain something your mother said."
Piper and Ara share a look, and the younger girl crosses her arms. "Go ahead."
"Once in Charleston, Venus told me something. She said: You will not find love where you wish or where you hope. No demigod shall heal your heart. I—I have struggled with that for..."
The answer comes easily to Ara. "Don't have to be scared. Love is a vast concept and its fulfillment comes in many forms, rarely is it ever another human. Before Leo, love would come to me by helping people and not dating. It really is in the most random places."
"You are an incredible person," Piper adds. "And you have friends, sometimes that's even better than a partner."
"I can attest to that," Ara nods, then adds playfully. "But if you ever feel like giving dating a try, I'm available until my boyfriend comes back from the dead."
Reyna stares at her. "I can't tell if you're being serious."
"This is a special offer with a deadline," Ara retorts half-joking. "I find you frustratingly attractive."
Reyna laughs and Ara feels like she just accomplished a great deed. She perks up at the sound but then something hits her across the face. The girl groans and looks around in confusion. "What the..."
Ara looks down and it takes her a moment to understand what she's seeing. She picks up the item and Piper gasps. "Is that—?"
"Oh my gods," Ara's hands are shaking. "Oh, gods! What do I do?"
"What is that?" Reyna asks.
"That's Leo's!" Piper says. "It fell from the sky!"
Ara feels like maybe she should sit down before she opens it, but her impatience gets the best of her and she opens the scroll with trembling, clumsy fingers.
"Hey, guys!" Leo's tiny projection comes out of the scroll. Ara makes a bizarre noise with her throat and holds tighter onto it, unable to look away. Reyna and Piper get closer."Sorry to leave you like that. Bad news: I died. Good news: I got better! I had to help my bud Cal. We're taking Festus to—"
The image glitches and Ara shakes the scroll impatiently.
"Back as soon as—"
More glitching and static.
"Cook tacos when—"
More static.
"ÂĄVaya con queso! Love ya!"
The scroll turns off and Ara gets angry. "That's it?!"
"Leo's alive!" Piper hugs her. "It worked!"
"Smart," Reyna hums approvingly. "Seems like our date will never come to be, Strategus."
Ara twists the scroll in her hands. "An entire freaking week where we both almost died and all he has to say is Vaya con queso?" She's fuming. "Well, good for his bud Cal! I hope they bring me a shirt from whatever stupid countries they visit on their super fun holiday away from everyone else!"
Piper steps back. "I should get Lily."
"I should leave," Reyna says promptly.
The girls hurry away while also spreading the news about Leo. Soon enough, Ara is surrounded by an eager crowd that wants to hear the message. Ara plays it back, glaring at the projection.
Lily sees her expression and nudges Nico, both taking her away from the congratulating crowd that calls her boyfriend cool and intelligent before she can kill them.
Tumblr media
Steam is practically coming out of Ara's ears. She's forgotten all about her duties, her hurt ego stops her from thinking clearly while she paces around her room.
"Look at the bright side, Queen B, he'll be back soon and you won't mope for months like with Percy!"
"Hey! It wasn't my fault!"
"No one's saying that," Annabeth replies, pinching the bridge of her nose.
Ara keeps throwing her tantrum. "This is the same boy that used to send me weekly scrolls to my apartment to tell me I looked pretty in a dream he had—and now I get nothing!"
"For all we know that 'Love ya!' in the end might've been just for you," Nico pokes fun at her.
"I'm gonna strangle you," Ara warns him.
"Dude, why are you angry? He broke the curse!" Lily insists. She had to catch up quickly with Annabeth's help to understand the full context of what was happening.
"I'm happy but I'm angry that he kicked me out of the ship like I was getting on the way, and now he's taking his sweet time to talk to me!" Ara glares at the pinboard in front of her, packed with pictures of the boy. "Ugh, look at this! Oh, you should've seen the way I cried for him—Ugh, I hate him!"
The group shares a roguish look. They know Ara can't handle big emotions, especially when it comes to Leo, so right now she's fighting to regulate herself. But if Leo doesn't get there fast, Ara's high will suffocate her until it knocks her down and leaves her unable to get out of bed.
"Birdy," Percy approaches and places a hand on her shoulder. "Leo's probably saving his romantic speech for when he sees you in person. He knows you love it when he makes a show out of it."
"The scroll was a perfect opportunity to show off," Ara argues with a pout, but she's calming down.
"Yeah, but he had no way of knowing you would be the one to get it and have it slap you across the face," Nico replies. "Besides, you know he worships the ground you walk on—What's the big deal?"
Ara takes a deep breath, gathering her thoughts. "The big deal is that the curse is broken," Her fingers skim the picture of him in the bunker's platform, smiling big while showing a thumbs up to the camera. "And he's traveling with a goddess whose sole purpose is to tempt men so they stay with her..."
"Hey, Calypso isn't like that," Percy tries to defend the girl's honor, but Annabeth pulls him back and shakes her head, now is not the time to try and reason with a frightened Ara.
"You're saying you don't trust Leo?" Lily questions with disbelief.
"I'm saying I have no way to contact him, and if something happens mid-journey, or Apollo shows up and I'm not here..." Ara scowls at the drawing of the Argo II in the middle of her pinboard. "Without the oracles here to guide us, anything can happen."

I think most of the issues with HoO start within SoN.
Like the world building. We're introduced to Camp Jupiter through Jason as place where they were fine branding a 2-3 year old. A place where they are sent to train with a wolf that would kill the failures.
Camp Jupiter worships the roman gods, who are specifically described by Clovis as more distant and more militaristic.
Yet when we meet them at Camp Jupiter its light-hearted with almost no oppressive atmosphere.
We're told Frank is hiding his heritage and the fact that his life force is tied to a piece of wood yet the only thing either of those two do is free Thanatos and has no bearing on the worldbuilding or even comes up as a plot point past this. Hell I don't even think Camp Jupiter's learns about franks heritage.
Hazel's hiding fainting spells, cursed gold popping up, and the fact that she was dead. We get a small connection between one of those and Octavian "blackmailing" her but its completely dropped by the end of the book.
Camp Jupiter dislikes borders on despising both Neptune and Greeks yet when Percy appears the camp seems to drop it and never brings it up.
Also almost every diety we are introduced to are using greek names despite them having actual roman names.
The military aspect of the camp is completely ignored. There is absolutely no way for Frank and Percy to be promoted to centurion and praetor respectively.
Frank has only been there for 6 months. We don't know if he's been on any quests and the few incidents he mentions describe him as not quite used to living in a military post.
A centurion is in charge of multiple people and putting him there with very little experience is setting him up for failure. Nevermind the fact he's skipping an entire rank.
Rick didn't even need to promote him to centurion to make the quest continue because hazel was standing right next to him. Hazel who both had the rank and at least a years experience at the camp.
Percy was there for a week and was only at the camp for 1.5-2 days. In combination with the rumors of him being Greek and his parentage nobody is electing him praetor.
Yes he has combat experience but Camp Jupiter doesn't know that. All they'd see was a better than average probatio who is smart.
Also being raised on a shield was never an actual way to become praetor and any political position in ancient Rome. It was a ceremonial thing used to establish legitimacy and seems to have started in the tribes outside Rome.
Jason going missing a few months after a major battle is going to set all of Camp on edge. Somebody should have been able to connect the dots between Jason going missing and Percy showing up carrying Jason's patron as well as recreating the original way the original Jason got Heras favor.
Rick fridged Gwen. He also gave us no reason to care for her death. Like even though its been a little since I read SoN honestly tell me something about Gwen other than how she died and how many years she was at Camp Jupiter.
Even looking at the Fandom wiki page for Gwen it doesn't even know if Gwen's a legacy or if she's a demigod or whose her divine relative.
Rick ruins the threat of the giants in this book. In TLH it took Jason, Piper, and Leo working together to defeat Enceladus and they couldn't defeat the king of the giants.
In SoN, Rick sidestep the giant in alaska despite having all the necessary things to set up the fight. Thanatos (a god) is there, there's a major sacrifice (most of franks lifeline) and there are demigods there yet Rick wrote in a loophole.
During the fight at Camp Jupiter, Percy solos that giant and only gets terminus help at the very end. Nevermind the fact that there were multiple cohorts that could have helped and the very nature of the 2nd great prophecy was that both camps needed to work together to defeat Gaia and the giants.
Setting up Octavian was very hamfisted and not at all smoothly. Like he's supposed to be this master manipulator yet he didn't get the very first step of blackmail was don't do it in front of people who are either are helping with the blackmail or who you are blackmailing.
Nevermind the fact that what Octavian is doing isn't blackmail. If you want to be charitable you could say what he's doing is just him being a politician (something very much set up during Percys first chat with Reyna) or if you want to be extremely negative is at best bribery. Which is a significantly less of a crime than blackmail.
He's described multiple times at not being impressive which makes it hard to take him seriously as a villian
Octavian also has no connection to Gaia which is what made the Titan war work, Luke and Kronos where working in tandem.
Speaking of Gaia, her plots also start making less sense after SoN. In MoA, the group tells the romans that Gaia was trying to start a war by blaming the greeks for kidnapping Juno.
Immediately after that, Gaia starts the war by blaming the greeks for firing onto New Rome. Unlike how Kronos had a new plot almost every single book.

The ending of you story! It’s been a definite journey reading your book with all its ups and downs and betrayal and love. I’m wondering how the other couples are doing like Isabelle, Hyun x Ben, Evangeline x Kaito, Percy x Annabeth. Are they still together and married and do they have kids?
Isabelle: Not Spoiling but she find the right person and become a foster mom
Hyun x Ben: They are married but they choose to not have kids. They live in Spiti, Ben becomes a artist and gamer while Hyun becomes a private magician.
Kaito x Evangeline: They live in Spiti and are married. They don’t have kids. Evangeline becomes a teacher while Kaito works with Chika and Grover in a organization of improving the enviroment and saving the endanger species.
Percy x Annabeth: They married and have a daughter named Cordelia Penelope Jackson. Percy also joins Kaito, Chika, and Grover on the enviroment organization. Annabeth made Camp Half Blood a city like New Rome
Frank x Hazel: Frank and Hazel are married and have a son named Cain Zhang. Frank is still a praetor while hazel owns a successful jewelry story and an artist. They managed to break the curse thank to Nico and Erebus help.
Jason x Piper: Tragically Piper died during a monster attack and Jason finds somebody else.
Leo x Calypso: Leo died as he sacrifice himself to kill Gaia in Heros of Olympus while Calypso got rescued by Ryan and Alabaster.

One thing that's been on my mind lately is why did the gods offer percy immortality at the end of pjo and didn't offer to the seven at the end of hoo? (six actually cause leo was technically dead)

I totally think it's because the New Rome Officers thing. Rome is based on honor and respect, and I think it's a show of expertise that whenever he made a speech, he announces himself, his full rank, his feats like a herald would announce a king in the olden times, I guess! Sort of how an artist puts portfolios and stuff these days. But really, it would be so funny if he did that somewhere else. "I am Jason Grace, son of Jupiter, former Praetor of The Twelfth Legion Fulminata. I killed the titan Krios and vanquished the goddess Gaia and I demand that you give Piper here her vegetarian sandwhich and Leo here his extra hot sauce."
that moment in Lost Hero where Jason starts spouting his entire monster-slaying résumé (child of Jupiter, praetor of the Twelfth Legion, slayed the Trojan sea monster, destroyed the throne of Kronos, etc.), he notices that he's reciting this list "like he'd said them many times before" even though at this point in the story even he doesn't entirely know what these deeds and titles mean
so now I'm wondering
was it like a thing for Roman demigods to announce themselves to monsters this way, as a show of intimidation?? or was there some aspect of life in New Rome that required officers to declare their ranks?? I mean, I can imagine legion meetings where Reyna and Jason (and Octavian and the centurions I guess) pull rank to speak before the camp or something
or is this just like. a habit from arguing with Octavian. Bc I love the idea of Jason asserting Blond Boy Dominance over Octavian by just rattling off all his Great Roman Accomplishments in his face because what has Octavian ever done, stabbed teddy bears?

The funniest thing Riordan ever wrote was implying that Leo 'mamacita' 'how many franks am I worth' Valdez has the power to kill gods
