‘why can’t you save money in neopets’
well, you see, I saw what silver xweetoks look like and it activated a sleeper agent in my brain and next thing I know-
Tumblr media
I have this little lady and I'm obsessed with her. Then I decided to trawl through the pound and see a guy named Green_Mangler and immediately have to adopt him and then buy a Grundo Transmog potion before I can even stop myself from clicking the button. So now I have spent the neopoints and im debating on going through with making the new boy a proper Green Mangler despite the fact there seems to be no wrestling gear or backgrounds that I can find which is a real shame and-
Tumblr media
I've already gone and done the dang thing. Anyways, Lutrola and Mangler are bffs in my mind and that's why my neopets bank account is constantly fluctuating.

I'd love to see a full-on review of Burlap from you! As a matter of personal taste, I do like it as a Plushie 2.0, but I also sympathize with your dissatisfaction in the loss of that creepy vibe. Which pets do you like best in it?
Tumblr media
Poor, poor Burlap. It was originally introduced as Burlap Doll alongside Steampunk, Toy, and Origami as part of a 2018 poll to pick a new colour, wherein it came in dead last, probably because it was by far the least cute option of the four. That said, us burlap lovers were annoying vocal enough that TNT eventually caved and released it anyway.
Unfortunately that was a small victory, as there's been a gradual shift in appearance and tone. Burlap's original intent, and the reason so many of us loved it, is that it was creepy. Burlap pets were supposed to be dolls haphazardly stitched together from sack cloth and whatever pieces of junk happened to be lying around, with dead button eyes and stitched-up mouths. It was a very distinct vibe, almost scarecrow-like, and that made it really stand out.
However, TNT has been softening the colour over the years. Bright colors were introduced; the junk and scrap materials concept was almost entirely dropped; straw-like elements were replaced with soft fuzzy tan fur; and so on and so forth. Compare the Burlap Usul, released in 2023, with the Burlap Ogrin, released in 2020:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And just to be clear, the more plushie-like burlap pets are by no means inherently bad; a lot of them are downright adorable or have very pleasing designs. It's just that, for a site that celebrates Halloween each year and has an entire land dedicated to it, there's a strange lack of creepy colours available. There's Halloween, Mutant, Wraith, Ghost, Zombie, Darigan, and... well, that's it. Burlap was not only a welcome addition to this category, but it filled a very specific niche, as there were no other creepy doll colours. We already have plushie as a colour, but we definitely didn't have anything like the original burlap.
Favorite Species:
Tumblr media
Lenny: The original Burlap Doll design put up for voting, the Burlap Lenny is delightfully creepy. The fraying fabric on the wings is a great touch, and I love all the metal bits used here; some springs for the head feathers, random scrap parts for the legs. It's fun, distinct, and has a ton of personality. I also really like the eyes, which are not only black but have red string in the middle, something even the other creepy burlap pets didn't keep.
Tumblr media
Bori: The Burlap Bori has less scrap parts and fewer black accents, but it's still well done overall. There's lots of good details here, like the fraying fabric around the claws, the stitch work and material of the back plates, and the way the tail haphazardly tied together with some loose rope.
Tumblr media
Quiggle: This isn't quite as detailed as the other three burlap pets, but it still brings a lot to the table with its freaky twig fingers and casual rope around its neck. The texturing and warping of the burlap texture is truly well done here and the whole thing has a great sense of dimension. The only thing is that while I like the mismatched eyes in theory, the blue feels a little distracting; I feel like maybe a light brown or tan might've worked better.
Tumblr media
BONUS: Like I said, the plushie-style burlap pets are still very nice looking, and it wouldn't be fair of me to talk about only the creepy pets while not mentioning the non-creepy ones. The Burlap Kau is definitely the best of the crop, with super soft plush fur that reminds me a bit of Highland cows. There's nice detailing in things like the corduroy snout and iridescent eyes, and while there's some colour, it's kept to light earth-tones as to not feel jarring against the browns. Good stuff.
Least Favorite Species:
Tumblr media
Scorchio: Even by new-age burlap standards, the Burlap Scorchio is a trainwreck. The eye-searing teal underbelly is both over-saturated and too low-contrast relative to the brown, creating an eyesore that draws too much attention to a pointless part of the design. There's no real creativity in things like the spikes, and the eyes don't feel like they align to the face properly. The stitched-together wings are a little fun at least, but it's not enough to save this design.

Fallout 2 Review
Tumblr media
That's Right, Folks! I'm back with a review of a Fallout Series game! This time it is the follow up to the original Fallout! As you know, I have a very intense love for the 1st Fallout game. So with that said the question is: Does the sequel get close?
WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THE GAME
Tumblr media
Gameplay: Same as before but with a lot of problems fixed. Map too big or want to store items but they removed the pack mule glitch for followers? Get the Highwayman. Want to keep this one follower the whole game? You can! You can have multiple followers and most of them level up with you (Minus some exceptions). You can equip them with better equipment and make the characters able to handle the end game even. I beat the game with Lenny, Cassidy, Marcus and Goris and loved it. Heck, the special random encounter locations get saved on your map so you can revisit them if you want. So if you saw the cafe of Broken dreams and missed Dogmeat you can go back and get him. (Also Dogmeat levels with you too this time and is actually not a bad companion) Score: Great Sound: The music in the game is drastically different from Fallout 1. Where 1's music is very focused to selling how harsh and desolate the destroyed world is. Fallout 2's music is much more lively, the world IS recovering. While songs like Redding's and the Oil Rig's show the world that there is still a long way to go. A lot of the soundtrack uses either a more Tribal sound or a country sound, depending on the area and situation. These tell the tale of how the wasteland is recovering. People are surviving and creating societies and slowly coming together. The music has an ever so slightly more hopeful, this tone being different provides a sense of "Hey we actually did it!" to the game when it comes to coming from 1 to 2. Of course horrors still pop up and the music emphasizes that, and how white collar the horrors are this time. It's concentrated evil that must be defeated so the world can go back to its much needed recovery. My favorite tunes are the Highwayman Overworld theme and Redding, check them out as they emphasize my points. Score: amazing Story & Characters: The Story for this Game is interesting. 70 years after the Master was defeated by the Legendary VAULT DWELLER. Things have changed, people are surviving. Your character, the grandchild of the VD is tasked with finding the G.E.C.K. (Garden of Eden Creation Kit) and eventually stopping the Enclave and saving the world. The Enclave is the remnants of the U.S. Military who survived the apocalypse. They plan on culling humanity of all the mutants; be they Super Mutant, ghoul or even slightly mutated regular people. The characters are great especially the companions who feel more fleshed out this time compared to before. The villains are less horrific or understanding than The Master was. Epitomizing the U.S.'s ideas on might makes right and our way or no way, the only answer is to take them out. The game's themes of Americana and the things many cling to being bad and outdated is very poignant. The world has moved on and all the Americana does is hurt people. It brings no freedom or justice or good, only death and ignorance. This is the game that hits the nail on the head the hardest on what the faux American Exceptionalism of the series is about. That said, the game is very big and can get exhausting. So many places, so many quests so many ending slides to worry about. The game at times is less focused than the 1st and it shows. Frank Horrigan and the President don't make for good replacements to the Lieutenant and the Master, despite being good villains. But when compared to 1 it's hard to match up. Score: Good
Tumblr media
Final Thoughts: The Game itself is a marked improvement in a lot of ways to 1. Providing better gameplay, more content, an amazing soundtrack that still matches the quality of the 1st game's and much more. The story though is a marked downgrade as the villains don't match up, the game feels less focused on making the second half as big as it was in Fallout 1 and overall just doesn't match up. Of course it's still a great game that I would any day of the week recommend but just not as much as 1. That said While it isn't as good as 1, I'd still give it a:
9/10

Tell me about your oc Finn 👀📝 (also see I can do that too ❤️)
Adsgsgffsf help I can’t believe I’m being 👀📝 on my own blog..the nerve (❤️)
Anyway Finn is from my brother and I making oc X-men teams because we were bored. Our minds so keep that in mind that they’re designed to exist with the X-men today
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sophie (Finn) Lewis/ aka Ground Zero
19
Comes from long lines of (very self hating tbh) mutants.
He/Him
Butch Lesbian
Absolute chad
Ran away from home. Lived in a very religious (pentecostal to be specific) mutant community. Lot of attempted “cures”
He was raised in a very conservative (and explicitly misogynistic) manner and has a lot of hang ups at doing anything traditionally feminine tbh. He can cook/sew/ect was taught all of that it just carries a lot of baggage too
Accidentally became leader of his group of new kids because he’s the only one with self preservation skills. And common sense.
Their team is called The Vagabonds due to everyone’s relationship to home, people, and the island itself (none of them think it’s gonna last-or that it’s a particularly good thing in the first place)-they’re put in their group due to their high level mutations + distinct lack of love for Prof X’s teachings. Teaching them now to keep them from being issues down the road.
Gambit is their main teacher as he’s stepped down from an active roll to be a house spouse tbh (and his prev injuries are giving him trouble). He didn’t want to but Jean pointed out that aside from the fact he’s actually one of the only good teachers they have-they are more likely to trust him due to his history.
Gambits actually a p good teacher tbh
He has multiple powers due to the nature of his mutation (and being a legacy at that). He can create simple energy constructs/barriers using his own strength/energy to do so-inside his barriers he can boost his teammates power/health/ect (using his own health. Aside from that he can fly + mild precognition (needs to focus on what he wants to know-and can only see ahead into the same day-needs to be at full strength to do so-can project visions on his barriers
Once he runs outa juice his hair/eyes turns white (it fading as he uses his strength)
Leader but is a support/first aide hero. Not a heavy hitter focuses more on evac/medical/boosting his teammates.
Jock just really likes sports-used to sneak out at night to play with their neighbors daughter (became his 1st gf-ran away when she outed him)
Very good at baseball. Plays on the Krakoa team.
Has a nursing degree
Is the mom friend is the dad friend. Hates it
Actually one of the better combatants on a technical level in the team he just doesn’t have super strength or anything helpful against most metas-and what he does have he tries not to use needlessly. Does use a Bo staff when necessary.
Has a crush on Eddie and Zoey but as they are both in very committed relationships (and Eddie is straight) stays silent-still jokingly flirts with them though
Really does look up to Eddie because he has such trauma associated with womanhood and seeing Eddie’s joy with it and owning it and making is her own (Eddie is a Trans girl) really does make him feel a certain way lotta solidarity between those two (they are bffs-and tbh the crush does eventually go away and it settles into something much more familial)
Just dates a lot of people like dating is normal not being exclusive is normal just. Doesn’t think much of it and wants to explore his options but does eventually settle into a relationship with Amahle and Ivanna (a Wakandan and Atlantian mutant respectively-Amahle is a technopath and Ivanna has super tracking so to speak)
Very protective of Rosie and whilst he 100% gets Lenny’s fear and reluctance to come out does not like him leading her on especially not just to make Micheal jealous
Thinks Leslie is a ditz. Loves xem. Genuinely treats xem like zey’re 12 half the time (in his defense ze acts like xer are 12 half the time)
Lost his one of his legs in a mission (it was a choice) has a cool red one now.
Terrible stutter. Drives all the girls crazy nonetheless. Chad king 😳🥵
Body ody ody built like a brick house
Part of Gambits book club really loves reading all the books he wasn’t allowed to read in his youth
Wears a lot of lesbian slogan tees. Borderline misandrist ❤️
Rare long haired butch (his hair grows comically fast)
Really annoyed by the fact he’s one of the only members who can drive. Not annoyed enough to give lessons though. Remy can do that

hiiiiii for the character bingo: Lenny from fo2! he’s my favourite little fo2 man, my favourite tiny meow meow, so i’d love a thought or two bout him!!!
Tumblr media
I assume you meant Lenny the doctor ghoul and not Lenny the super mutant but lmk if I was wrong! :)
I apologize I don’t have much to comment on but really love this character!! I think he is very cool and interesting and I wish there was more to do with him! I think it would’ve been really great if he showed up in fo3 or at least had more than just one quest associated with him. His dialogue is very sweet and cute and he’s hella useful as a companion. Overall I really like him as a person!!
I think that the detail Lenny mentions of ghouls in Necropolis not really being able to run and that’s how he noticed the Vault Dweller originally is really interesting. Obviously they didn’t keep this detail for any of the following games. My headcanon is that the ghouls in Necropolis for many reasons (one being their issue with clean and accessible water) were very unhealthy and thus didn’t have the strength or will to run around a lot. Perhaps Lenny still not being able to run after regaining his strength thanks to the Vault Dweller’s help is due to lasting health issues and the fact that he was ghoul-ified at such an old age already. Whatever the case is, I really love it when characters have dialogue that hints to different aspects of life in the wasteland!
I’m so glad that we as the Chosen One are able to give Lenny a second chance to be a hero in game after he was so sad to miss out with the Vault Dweller! :) He’s great and deserves the adventure!! Thanks for the interesting character request!!

With A Little Help From My Friends
For @chaosintheavenue ‘s Fallout Mini-bang Event! I worked with the insanely talented and awesome @paladinthrockmorton for the event, please check their blog out!
Game: Fallout 2
Characters: Chosen One OC, Goris, Lenny, Marcus, Sulik, Vic, New Khans, Darion
Summary: The Chosen One and his crew are headed to the Squat to try and get access to Vault 15, both on request of the NCR and to try and find the fabled Vault 13. On the way, they run into a strange, cloaked man, wandering through the desert alone.
(Read it on AO3 here if you prefer: https://archiveofourown.org/works/27857697)
Without further ado, here is ‘With A Little Help From My Friends’!
Two hundred years of sand, stubborn enough to not have shifted from its spot, flew out of the way of the car tires as the Highwayman sped past. The people of California were used to strange sights in the post-apocalypse; massive mutants, zombie-like people and reluctant heroes with a purpose, but seeing all of those crammed into an antique car, darting through the desert, was another sight altogether.
Add in that they were all wearing scavenged sunglasses, slowing down each time they passed travellers on the road to let them ogle, occasionally leaping out to shoot molerats, and the spectacle was certainly unique. Marcus was wedged in the back between Vic and Sulik, with Lenny sat up front, silently pleased of winning shotgun simply by being the only one who knew how to drive and teaching the car’s owner. The driver himself was Theo, far from his home in Arroyo, and loving the freedom of his car. Lenny was very glad there was hardly anything to run over out here, though.
They were headed to Vault 15, travelling East from NCR, with maybe only another couple of hours to go. The end of Theo’s grand quest was so near, if the stories were to be believed. As soon as he dealt with the squatters, and accessed the Vault’s computer system, he could find Vault 13, where he’d finally get the GECK to save his village. Victory was so close he could almost taste it.
A hooded figure at the side of the road caught his attention as the car shot past, too fast for the stranger to have really appreciated his beloved car. So Theo braked and reversed it to meet back up with them, rolling down his window and keeping his car going at a crawl to match the hunched stranger’s shuffling pace.
“Beautiful day today!” Theo called out cheerfully. The stranger lifted their head, but Theo couldn’t spot their face through the cloak.
“Ideal weather for a stroll,” the stranger agreed, an unusual tone to his voice that Theo couldn’t quite place. Theo scrunched up his face; sure, at this time of year the desert was somewhat cooler, but an aimless stroll in this heat was never a good idea, and who went strolling this far away from civilisation?
“What do you mean, a stroll? You’re days of walking from anywhere, mate,” Theo pointed out. The stranger seemed to shrug under his cloak.
“Oh, don’t worry about me. I’m heading to NCR, but I may have gotten lost on the way,” the stranger gave an odd sort of laugh. Theo bit his lip; this stranger barely looked able to walk properly, never mind fight off any threats out here.
“Uh, you know there’s rumours about deathclaws roaming around these parts, right?” Theo asked. “Big, sharp fellows, could rip a super mutant apart in a jiffy?”
“Oh yes. Perfectly agreeable fellows, always keen for a reasonable debate,” the stranger replied, his tone so solemn that it was difficult to tell if it was a joke or not. Lenny shot a look of concern at Theo; who would want to debate a deathclaw?
“M-maybe he’s been out in the sun too long?” Lenny suggested quietly, to which Theo sighed. Of course he’d run into someone needing help out here, didn’t he always? Curse his good nature.
“Hey, we’re running some errands first, but we’ll be heading to NCR after. Want a lift?” Theo asked. The stranger paused, peering into the car, where Marcus waved back.
“It seems crowded in there already. I wouldn’t want to be a bother.”
“Nonsense. Lenny, jump in the back, will ya?”
Theo stopped the car, giving Lenny time to squeeze in between Sulik and Marcus while the stranger settled into the empty front seat. His cloak sat strangely around his body, hanging too long at the arms, and the bottoms were scruffed up from dragging along the floor. The stranger took a moment to get comfortable, as if they weren’t used to sitting in seats. Well, car seats anyway. Theo held out his hand.
“Call me Theo. What do I call you?”
“My name is Goris, I’m a travelling scholar,” Goris nodded slightly, but didn’t shake Theo’s hand, “Forgive the robe, but genetics hasn’t been kind to me. I tend to scare people.”
“Well, you’re in good company here,” Theo laughed, shifting the car into gear. “Hold onto your hood Goris, this baby’s got speed.”
The car sped across the desert like a bullet, Goris desperately holding down his hood while the wind roaring through the open windows tried to blow it off. Marcus offered him a bottle of water at one point, but Goris declined it, seemingly too enraptured by the speed they were travelling at.
The drive was peaceful; they didn’t run into any further trouble on the way. Goris was keen to talk to all of them, asking about each of the towns they came from and grilling them for questions on their histories. Soon they came across the spot that Tandi had marked out for them, the squatter camp located just outside the Vault that was stopping NCR from gaining access. Theo offered to let Goris stay in the car, but the draw of possibly learning the history of the squatter camp pulled him from it.
The Squat, as Tandi had referred to the camp, was a squalid little shanty town bordered by trees, made up of tents and inhabited by nervous looking locals. The tents were weather beaten and worn, the tears spoke of years of being dragged down in a hurry, with patches sloppily sewn into place where the tears had become holes. The greyed out colour of what could possibly be the original fabric was mostly covered by the patches, the only hint it had once covered the whole tent being it’s unusual material and how often it was seen on separate tents. But mostly, the tents looked old, as if they’d been standing when the bombs, and still stood out of sheer determination. At the far side stood a more permanent building than the tents, still crumbling and falling apart. The roof was more of an old umbrella than something to keep out all weather. It was bordered by a rough forest gnarled trees, with a guard patrolling them.
The squatters, dressed in clothes only slightly younger than the tents themselves, watched them closely as they made their way to the permanent building, keeping a distance from the strangers. Theo waved at a child staring slack jawed, only for their mother to whisk them away.
“Don’t you just love a warm welcome, boss?” Vic deadpanned under his breath.
The only permanent building in the camp seemed like the best place to try and find someone who was in charge. Theo knocked on the door, and let himself in, only to narrowly dodge a rock that flew at him.
“Oh no, not dealing with you NCR lot today. Out!” a man on the other side of the door yelled at them. Theo picked up the rock and glared back.
“Hey arsehole, your rock nearly hit my head,” he called out, “Learn to aim, dipshit!”
“I told you to leave. We don’t want your kind around here,” the man insisted Theo tossed the rock back to Marcus, who crushed it between his hands while the man watched, slack jawed and terrified.
“You don’t want to make an enemy of us, old man,” Theo warned. The old man staggered backwards, “good thing we don’t want a fight you. We’ll come back later when you’re in a more agreeable mood,” Theo slammed the door behind him, taking a step back before yelling. “Arseholes! This wasteland has two types of people in it; arseholes, and people who want something from me!”
“What does that make us, boss?” Vic asked in mock offence. Theo rolled his eyes.
“Oh don’t get me started. You needed to be rescued from slavers. You,” Theo pointed at Sulik, “needed a debt paid off. You,” Theo pointed at Marcus, “Needed a murder solving and your mine fixing. You,” Theo pointed at Goris, then faltered. Technically, Goris hadn’t asked for his help at all, “Well, I’m sure you’re just here for the car ride. And Lenny,” Theo turned to point at Lenny, only to find him missing. “Wait, where’s Lenny?”
Everyone else looked around in bewilderment; none of them had noticed him leaving at all, and there were no signs of Lenny anywhere. With a resigned sigh, Theo started to wander between the tents, lifting heavy flaps and yelling Lenny’s name under each one, much to the ire of the squatters within. He eventually found Lenny quietly talking with an older lady, who looked terrified.
“Oh Lenny, did you round a corner too quickly and scare people again?” Theo asked with a mock tone of concern to his voice.
“Her d-daughter’s m-missing, possibly kidnapped.” Lenny stated. All mirth drained from Theo’s face in an instant, as his hand went to his gun. Hero time.
“Your daughter, do you have any idea where she might be?” Theo asked. The lady glanced between Lenny and Theo, biting her lip.
“There’s people in the vault, just East of here. Chrissy’s too adventurous for her own good, I was always catching her trying to sneak out there. The people don’t want us going anywhere near there, so maybe they--”
“Hang on,” Theo interrupted her, quietly stepping back towards the tent flap, dragging it away just in time to see someone rush away from the tent.
“Were they listening?” The woman asked in horror. Theo gave chase as Lenny tried to reassure her but had lost track of the person by the time Theo rounded the tent corner. Instead Theo ran up to the rest of his crew.
“Did someone just run past?”
“Someone just passed that guard over there,” Vic pointed to a guard stood by the edge of the trees, “why?”
Without answering, Theo turned and lead the way towards the forest. The guard, patrolling the outskirts, caught up with them, stopping Theo in his tracks.
“You might want to turn around stranger, there’s nothing to see here.” She said.
“What are you guarding?” Theo asked, standing up on his tip toes to try and see over the guard’s shoulder. She stood up taller to block him again.
“I’m not guarding anything, just making sure no-one wanders off this way.”
“Then why not guard the way into the desert that way?” Theo pointed to the far side of the Squat.
“Why do you care anyway?”
“A young girl has been kidnapped. D-did you see someone pass by here?” Lenny asked. The guard stopped for a minute, looking torn.
“…Yes, they did. Do you think they’re linked to it?”
“Almost definitely.”
The guard sighed, running a hand through her hair and looking back through the trees, before finally coming to a conclusion. “Look, I don’t want any trouble. They hired me to stop anyone passing through after they had troubles with the girl snooping, I’m not with the people that took her, honest. You can go through. Just, don’t tell them I let you in, and save Chrissy, okay?”
Theo gave her a wink and took the lead through the copse of trees, more dense than any forest in a desert had a right to be. But the branches looked gnarled and dead, as if whatever had let them grow in the first place had run its magic and left them to suffer alone. At some point, this place must have been verdant, but now it was as worn down and withered as the Squat itself, a fitting nest for the camp. Theo ran a hand down the bark out of curiosity, pulling away large chunks effortlessly.
The trees thinned out again, marking the edge of the small forest, and bringing into view a shack  that stood in a clearing near a wall of rocks that boasted a poorly hidden metal door. Another guard, this time wearing armour unlike any Theo had ever seen, leant against the shack wall, smoking a cigarette. He stared at the crowd, removed the cigarette and rubbed it out against the wall behind him as Theo marched closer, laser pistol in hand.
“The fuck do you want?” The man snarled.
“We’re looking for a missing girl, do you know anything about that?” Theo asked. The man eyed up Theo with a look of disdain.
“Maybe we do? What are you gonna do about it?” He taunted.
“You’re looking at a crew with a supermutant and asking what we’ll do about it? I’ll give you three fucking guesses. Where’s Chrissy?” Theo demanded, gripping his laser pistol tighter.
“As if I’d give her over that easily to a little punk like you. Nah, we can have some fun with her yet.” The guard teased.
“Up yours and eat a bullet breakfast, arsehole.” Theo snapped, getting a lucky quick shot that hit the man straight in his eye. His body slumped against the wall as footsteps from inside the house rushed towards the door, unlocking it.
“What’s--” The woman that appeared didn’t even get a chance to finish her sentence as Marcus aimed his minigun at her, tearing her apart in a flurry of guts. Once the gun stopped spinning, Theo rushed over to the body, searching for the keys and pulling them out with triumph. Meanwhile, Vic and Sulik rushed into the house, weapons at the ready, checking each room was empty.
“There’s a locked door at the back!” Vic called out. Theo rushed to meet up with him, quickly unlocking the door, only for it to fly open in his face as a teenage girl rushed out, kicking Vic in the groin and making for the front door, to find it inadvertently blocked by Marcus and Goris.
“Chrissy, I presume?” Theo called after her, holding his bleeding nose. “Your mom sent us.”
///////////////////
“The mayor’s quite nice when he’s not throwing rocks at me, isn’t he?” Theo snickered, spinning the key card in his fingers as they headed back to the shack. Chrissy’s mother had been overjoyed that she’d been returned safely and convinced the man in charge to let Theo’s crew deal with the raiders in the vault on their behalf. The ones that had taken Chrissy were just the surface crew, and had been paying the squatters in ill-gotten gains to keep the NCR away, but if he could get rid of the raiders, who called themselves ‘New Khans’, then maybe they’d deal with the NCR again. Well, at least he was getting into the vault now. Even if it was to help someone else again, “why is the name ‘New Khans’ so familiar anyway?”
It was mostly a rhetorical question, but the rest of his group looked baffled by it. Clearly it wasn’t for them.
“I think I’ve heard locals speak of some old rivalry between a raider gang and the NCR, maybe this is the raider gang?” Goris suggested.
“Maybe.” Theo agreed quietly. Maybe another of his grandfather’s adventures involved the Khans, and he was just keeping up with family tradition. “Hey, Goris, you don’t need to come with us, you know. We’re going to wipe out a raider camp, it’ll likely get a little hairy and I can’t promise we can cover for you.”
“Oh, you needn’t worry about that. I can handle myself.” Goris assured him. Theo couldn’t keep the doubt from his face.
“They’ll be armed, and deadly. We can come get you after we clear it if you’re desperate to look around the vault, you know.” Theo tried again.
“Thank you, but I am more than capable of keeping myself safe. I do usually wander the wastes alone. I would like to return your kindness from earlier.” Goris insisted.
“Well, alright. It’s your funeral.” Theo shrugged and swiped the keycard in a slot in the door, stepping back and watching the rusted old door slowly open with an ear piercing creak. Beyond it lay a cave lit by primitive torches. With a small wave to tell them to keep quiet, Theo led the way in, running a hand against the wall to keep on track if the torches went out. The rocks were dark dry, but sturdy, Theo couldn’t pull out any stones with his bare fingers; a sensible choice to build a vault in, he supposed. The deeper they went, the darker it got; the rocks seeming to absorb light, until, more often than not, Theo couldn’t even see his own hand brushing against the walls through the blackness. Very easy for the raiders to hide in.
“Who the fuck are you?” Came a sudden bark from further in the cave, causing Theo to jump, hand reaching for his laser pistol. Damnit, he could barely even see down here, never mind shoot. He needed a different plan.
“Uh, new recruit?” He hazarded.
“Oh, right, yeah. Go on in.” The Khan replied. Barely believing his luck, Theo stepped forward, still holding his pistol ready, but the Khan didn’t react, just waved him and his oddly shaped entourage along. “You’ll want to see Darion, he’s on the bottom level.”
“Darion, got it.” Theo nodded. Past a turn, the cave opened up somewhat, with more torches giving him a better view of it. He recognised the vault door, almost identical in design to the one on Vault 8, except this one lay discarded on the floor, far past repair. Some more Khans stood around in the cave, chatting, paying him little attention. They made their way through the empty doorway and through the halls of the vault. It stank of rust, and the lights didn’t seem to work, the same torches from within the cave illuminating the metal hallways with only marginally more success. This vault had long been abandoned; it didn’t have the crisp, clean, almost sterile look to it like Vault 8 had; this was beyond disrepair, it was a health hazard; a tetanus epidemic just waiting to happen. They tried to avoid touching the walls as much as possible as they headed to the old elevator, barely squeezing everyone in.
“We suspect a trap.” Sulik warned.
“Definitely. Hands on guns, everyone, and expect a fight. Got enough ammo, Goris?”
“Don’t worry, I always travel fully armed.” Goris assured him, adjusting his robes but not pulling out a gun.
The lift itself was slow, rickety. It shook and creaked down the levels, and once it stopped the doors crept open. Marcus exited, minigun first, checking the surrounding corridors before signalling everyone else to follow him. It was eerily quiet down here, except for the muffled dull thud of a leak and the gentle crackle of the torches along the walls. Theo headed towards the Overseer’s room, past many closed doors that his companions checked behind him. The door was shut, and when the button was pressed, it opened much faster than it should in a place this ruined.
Beyond the door was pitch black; no torches, no lights, and no sound, as if someone had scared away anything that could make noise. As if the room was holding its breath.
Theo took a step back, ready to leave before the trap was sprung, but his companions hadn’t seen it, and continued walking, knocking him further into the room. The creaky hiss of pistons behind him told him that the door had shut them in, and the torches lit up around the room, highlighting jeering faces and glinting off of weapons. Too many Khans to count surrounded them, each armed to the teeth and ready to shoot. They were surrounded, and outnumbered, and hopelessly outgunned. One khan, an old man, stepped forward, hatred written across his face, sizing Theo up. “You look just like him, that damned Vault Dweller.”
“Yeah, I get that a lot.” Theo shrugged, trying to look for a way out. But the only way other than the locked door was further into the vault, and they didn’t have emergency exits. Damn. “Are you Darion? Wouldn’t want to waste my ammo.”
“The one and only. I have waited eighty years for my revenge against the NCR. Getting to kill a man that looks like their attack dog is the icing on top.”
“Would a distraction help?” Goris asked quietly. Theo had absolutely no idea what the shuffling scholar had in mind, but anything would be better than nothing right now, so he nodded, not straying from Darion’s gaze.
“You couldn’t kill my grandad back then, and I won’t be killed now. Guess you’ll just have to wait a little longer.” Theo bragged. Darion opened his mouth to speak, but his eyes widened and his jaw dropped instead, as he and his two bodyguards stumbled backwards in shock, a scream tearing from their throats. Theo turned to look where they were staring.
Only to see a deathclaw stood next to him.
Theo stumbled back as the deathclaw threw itself towards the nearest Khan, giving an almighty roar that rattled Theo’s skull. It swept its claws across their helmet, sending it scattering across the floor, the second hand following shortly after, leaving deep gashes down the raider’s face that flooded with blood.
The Khans had stopped screaming and were aiming their guns now, some at the deathclaw, some at Theo and his friends. Theo pulled out his own laser pistol and aimed for Darion’s eyes.
Darion collected himself, and in turn faced Theo, narrowly dodging the laser shot and returning with a flash of fire from his flamethrower. Theo jumped back just in time, the searing heat flashing against his face, and firing another laser at Darion, hitting his shoulder.
A burst of bullets behind Darion hit the man with a yell as one of his guards, in blind panic over the approaching deathclaw, accidentally fired at Darion instead.
“Watch where you’re shooting!” Darion yelled back, giving Theo the window to fire again, getting Darion square in the side of his face, knocking him down to the floor.
The deathclaw had thrown the guard to the wall and leapt instead at Darion, landing on the man’s shoulders before swiping his head clean off in one fell swoop.
Theo backpedalled as quick as his legs could take him, but the deathclaw didn’t even look at him, just threw itself horns first at another khan.
Theo hit a second khan in the crotch, felling the man just in time for the deathclaw to catch him across the neck, before turning to where Lenny stood. Theo went to shout out a warning to Lenny, but the deathclaw had already sprung.
And completely missed Lenny, instead taking down a khan stood behind him that was aiming a shot.
Sulik took down one of the raiders guarding the door, the heavy thud of his supersledge against the raider’s skull making Theo wince as Sulik yelled for the rest of them to retreat.
Vic and Lenny did so quickly; Marcus and Theo backed off while aiming at the remaining Khans, who’d all but ignored them in favour of trying to take down the deathclaw, with little hope. It was too fast, too strong.
By the time Theo reached the door, no Khans were left standing. Just the deathclaw in the centre of the room, breathing heavily and covered in blood. Marcus raised his minigun, getting it ready to fire, while Theo did a quick head count.
Vic, Sulik, Lenny, Marcus… where was Goris? Had he been injured? Theo quickly glanced around the room, but the only sign of him was his robe, discarded on the floor where Goris had last stood. Beside Theo. Where the deathclaw had--
Theo shoved Marcus’ arm just in time to redirect the bullets away from the deathclaw, who had now turned to face them. Lenny and Vic had their guns trained on it, while Marcus shot Theo a dirty look, having just wasted an entire magazine on the wall.
“I would appreciate it if you didn’t point your guns at me, thank you.” The deathclaw said casually. The shock very nearly caused Vic and Lenny to drop their guns entirely.
“What evil spirit is this that talks to us?” Sulik demanded in horror.
“It’s fine guys, lower your guns.” Theo tried to assure them, barely keeping the quiver from his voice. He stepped forward cautiously, picking up Goris’ robe. “So, uh, why didn’t you tell us you were a deathclaw?”
A gasp behind him told him someone else had figured it out too. “To be fair, you didn’t ask.” Goris pointed out. Theo had never been this close to a deathclaw, nor had he ever wanted to be. Those thick, grey scales almost seemed to glow in the torchlight, giving an ethereal look to Goris, so different to the sandy coloured scales he’d seen on the deathclaws they’d raced away from in the car. And those legendary claws, thick as a radius bone and sharper than a sword, and blood red after the fight; most waste landers thought it was a good life if they’d never seen one at all, nevermind gotten up close and personal with them. Goris didn’t move, just watched Theo with dark red eyes that didn’t blink anywhere near as often as a human’s did. Theo stepped closer still, every instinct screaming to run, not getting close enough to be in Goris’ reach, and held out the robe for Goris to take, glad it covered his wobbling legs. He didn’t have reason to be afraid, did he? This was still Goris, the desert weirdo who thought debating with deathclaws was-- oh wait.
Goris slowly took the robe back from Theo, giving a quick thanks and quickly putting it back on and deftly retying the cord around the waist. Once the hood was up, he looked the same as before, but Theo could spot all the little details that would give him away, now that he knew what to look for. The hood sitting too far forward from his horns, the overlong sleeves hiding his claws, the way it trailed to cover every inch of him.
“Clever disguise.” Theo complimented, feeling a bit more comfortable now that Goris had hidden himself. “Wish I could do that. Where’d you learn to talk and not kill humans on sight, then?”
“Um, the lift is rattling.” Lenny pointed out, bringing Theo back to the vault again. Right, the other Khans would’ve heard the commotion, and were no doubt on their way to find out what had happened. He pushed his way through the doorway, reaching the corner leading to the corridor for the lift and peering around it. No doubt about it, the lift was in motion.
“What’s the plan then?” Theo asked.
“Going in guns blazing isn’t good enough for you this time?” Marcus smirked.
“No, ‘cause we’ve always got the element of surprise on our side now.” Theo grinned back at Goris. He was still keeping his distance, and everyone else keeping their distance from him in turn, still unsettled by the deathclaw in the room.
“There’s a room just inside this corridor, if I hide in there I can jump out behind them too.” Goris suggested.
“Right. We’ll take cover here.” Theo agreed.
“I think I’ll go with Goris. I don’t do ‘hide and shoot’.” Marcus raised his gun for emphasis.
Goris and Marcus hid in the room, Goris’ tail flicking out with every step now he wasn’t shuffling everywhere, while Theo and Lenny hid behind the far wall, Vic and Sulik by the near. The lift stopped with a ‘ding’, the doors slowly creeped open, and footsteps cautiously marched out.
Theo nodded to Vic, pointing their pistols around the corner, hitting the front two raiders blindly. They gasped out, firing back while everyone pushed themselves against the wall, holding their breaths for what they knew was about to come.
Sure enough, with a loud thud against the metal floors and an almighty roar, Goris jumped into the battle, and they leapt out from hiding. The Khans were too busy screaming at the deathclaw behind them to see their attackers in front of them, and they fell quickly to a hail of bullets, lasers, hammers and claws.
But the lift continued to rattle regardless.
“More Khans?” Marcus asked.
“Ready for round two, everyone?” Theo asked with a smile. Oh, he could get used to this.

Some Fun AU ideas, feel free to pick any that strike your fancy! Circus AU, the gang are all members of a shady travelling circus that also steals on the side. 1980s Miami AU, where the gang are now operating in a much more modern, gritty setting. Fairy Tale AU, where the gang members all live in a fantasy village where everyone has a strange secret (werewolf, for example). Pirate AU, 'nough said. Supers AU, where the gang exist in an X-Men setting and the they're all mutants. Have fun! :D
I’m gonna do the fantasy village thing where everyone has a secret! It seems fun! I just had a good time lol
Uncle’s face is fake, a figurehead, it is a wart on the back of his head that does all of the talking
Hosea and Bessie had a baby that was replaced by John, a changeling. The secret is that Hosea actually knows that John is a changeling, but hasn’t told anybody. He doesn’t mind because the baby had complications at birth and was going to die.
Arthur is a werewolf. And for some reason I really dig the idea of him being town blacksmith. All rugged and sooty, forging metal.
Pearson stole his cauldron from a witch. That’s why even though his stew tastes kinda bad, it still fortifies people and makes them healthy.
Charles knows everyone’s secrets. But he’s no snitch.
They say Dutch went missing a while ago but the truth is that he was turned to gems and gold by a curse placed on him due to his greed so he sits in his house which is becoming stray cat infested. Arthur is trying to break the curse but like... he’s not in a hurry.
Javier is a human jigsaw and can remove parts of his body at will. It’s fucked up, I know.
Micah’s mustache is actually made of the silk from an ear of corn and must periodically be replaced.
Kieran uses a glamor to appear normal but if you were to catch him in the bath you would find out that he’s actually just like a hundred mice in the shape of a person
Karen is a vigilante, but all she does is kill people’s shitty husbands
Tilly sews tiny clothes and is an active merchant in the mouse economy
Bill is an orc, plainly, but his true secret is that he wants a human bride REALLY badly
Sadie sometimes finds bodies strung up in the trees, but buries them before anyone else finds them.
Mary Beth sells her own blood to ritual performers
Molly pretends to be like, town witch, and curse people’s children and cast their wombs barren, but she actually is just normal and likes the drama.
Sean was born to a family of wood nymphs and has no penis
Lenny is actually a group of several identical brothers everyone thinks is one person
Swanson is actually a demon, but he wants to be better

Would Leanna and Lenny get along? I feel Leanna could warm his heart, just make him a flower Crown
(old art) your innocence is admirable LOL unfortunately they would probably want to eat them. Fallout and LotR is such an interesting but dangerous mix, they would not survive long i don't think...

Is that [Dan Stevens]? No, that’s [David Haller], AKA [Legion] from [Marvel Universe]! [He] appears to be [33]. [He] has the abilities of [a telekinetic psychic] which make them a powerful ally for the [Defiance]. (OOC: Sophie, she/her, 24, GMT)
Hi everyone :) My name’s Sophie, I live in England, and I’m 24 years old.
Here are a few of my favourite things: Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Buzzfeed Unsolved, Dan and Phil, basically anything by Stephen King, Supernatural, finely-bound books, reading, cats, and vintage clothing.
And here are a few things to note about my son, David Haller:
If you haven’t seen Legion, strap in, because this is a wild ride. I’m gonna try to keep this short and succinct, because Legion is really something that needs to be seen to be believed, and even then, it’s absolutely crazy. So, this will be a super cut-down version of the wacky events of David Haller’s life. Also, to note, I’m only drawing from the show!
David Haller was born of Charles and Gabrielle Xavier. Because his father had defeated a powerful mutant demon named Amahl Farouk in battle, Farouk possessed David as a baby, playing with David’s incredible psychic powers, terrifying his mother with visions, making doors disappear, interfering with radio signals. Real haunting stuff. When David was still a baby (I guess because of the haunting but we never find out because Noah Hawley didn’t tell us), Charles and Gabrielle gave David away
He was adopted by the Hallers, but he was still hosting Farouk, who decided to stick around for the better part of three decades, feeding off David’s powers, making him hear voices, see things that weren’t there, and driving him slowly insane
He was diagnosed as schizophrenic, and, to cope with the visions and voices, he started self-medicating with hard drugs, and his life spiralled completely out of control. He ended up spending some time living on the streets, where he met Lenny Busker (more on her later)
After a suicide attempt, David was hospitalised in Clockworks Psychiatric Hospital for six years. Lenny also happened to be there (for some reason)
He was eventually broken out by a group of mutants, and taken to a place called Summerland. I’m going to skip over this stuff because this intro is already stupidly long and I said I’d keep it short, and I’m really just recounting the events of the whole show in absolutely the wrong order here
To cut a long and totally insane story short: David met Sydney at Summerland (AKA Syd, AKA the woman you’re going to get sick of reading about when you read my threads) and they started dating. Syd’s mutant power was that she swapped places with anyone she came into physical contact with, so she and David could never touch
Farouk hung around inside David’s head for a while, taking the form of Lenny, David’s old best friend, who had actually been murdered during David’s breakout from Clockworks, but the mutants in Summerland eventually exorcised him from David’s head, and he got his old body back
Fast-forwarding through the events of s2 and some of s3, the mutants David had met at Summerland (including Syd) came to think that David was too powerful, and a threat to humanity. He was still very unstable from a lifetime of being mentally tormented by a literal demon. At first, they’d put his schizophrenia down to Farouk, but now he’d been separated from Farouk, it was clear that David was still sick
For reasons that I would argue were totally justified (including those accusations, but other stuff happened too) David left the mutant team, and, naturally, decided to gather a group of devoted followers who worship his as a god for his powers, and for the drug he keeps them hooked on, the Blue Stuff
And that’s where I diverge from canon! If you made it through that entire ramble, well done ^_^
Now, David and his cult have moved into the Clock Tower in Gotham, where he plans to stay for the foreseeable future, just hanging out, taking drugs and giving faux-hippy sermons on peace, love, and understanding. His old mutant friends might have been wrong about a lot of things, but they were right about David being pretty unstable
TL;DR: This is my son David, who is schizophrenic, hears voices, and is a powerful mutant. He is currently leading a cult of wannabe-hippies who are actually basically homeless drug addicts
Please feel free to reach out to me to plot, or just chat! I can’t wait to write with everyone <3

Impressions? well, I’m not moved to make massive deletions from my iTunes regarding certain S2 vid-downloads, so that’s a good sign! 👍
1) Yanking things out of ears? must be nice to be a mutant -- frankly, David’s yanking the goldfish out of his is as close to the reality of what comes out of mine, at the risk of getting into TMI-territory! 😂
2) The fact that everyone’s having such a hard time buying the Farouk conversion/character shift tells me that there may be a flaw in the writing in terms of making the shift from Lenny-rape/Amy-murder/back-door-opening-for-vengeful-David-to-run-airship-amuck Farouk to “Let’s Make a Deal”-Farouk.  I’ll give credit where it’s due and acknowledge that perhaps Navid shot a scene or two that would have helped the “Huh?”-factor with his character had it made the final cut.  I’m just glad the beer Farouk offered Charles wasn’t poisoned or drugged; it would have been funny if Charles would have been like, “Sorry,;I’m a wine-guy myself!”  But then, maybe alcoholic beverages served on the astral plane are an entirely different matter altogether.  (Underage astral plane drinking? hmmmm...)  Also, perhaps Charles’s side of the deal included his explaining things to Farouk in terms of the value of David’s life, giving the benefit of the doubt? or it was a simple “I’ll call off my hound if you call off yours!”-deal, since that’s ultimately what happened? idk...rather convenient that we got a cut to commercial right at that point, but I digress!
3)  Switch’s massive break -- awesome, and a huge unexpected relief, even if I am still trying to wrap my head around her father’s explanation of her constant tooth-loss!  Definitely feel there are parallels between reunions/revelations with her own father as well as David’s with his, and tbh, I’m convinced that the latter was literally all David had been needing and wanting for the entire series!!! which leads me to...
4) ...the truce called between all four parties, namely the part where Amahl is like, “Hey, maybe we can get together and rule the world sometime?” and David’s like, “Nah, I’m good; I’ll just live my life.”  (To which I was like, “Atta boy, David -- good for you!” but I digress!  LOL!)  And I think there’s a lot to it here; it comes after Charles’s much-needed “Look, son, I blew it and I admit it, but I love you and I just want a chance to do right by you and be the father you need so badly!”-speech.
Which was..
...well, it was okay.
Tumblr media
Just kidding, of course.  It was devastatingly beautiful.
But anyway, I think that’s the whole point here, and that’s the reason I never bought the “David’s now a super-villain!”-adage, much less a “David’s now a villain!”-adage.  I’m not convinced that David ever wanted to be “the most powerful being on the planet” or the “god” he was pushed to be by DVD in Chapter 19 or claimed to be in Chapter 23; I think he merely wanted to be or feel more significant than he ever had throughout his entire life.  I think he was using all sorts of things to fill the void in his life -- drugs, Syd, the idea of being a “secret weapon” in a war, etc. -- all to no avail, and so whenever Farouk would come at him with the whole notion of “being a god, doing what you want, taking what you want, creating your own reality, etc.,” heck, on the one hand, yeah, he hated Farouk for what he had done to him and his life and saw him as a villainous enemy.  Yet on the other, it made him feel special and gave him the impression that he could simply will into existence what was missing...which of course it didn’t, at least not in a satisfactory fashion.  But sadly, regardless of David’s hate for him (or my personal hate of this idea, for that matter -- LOL!), Farouk was the closest thing he had to a father figure or a “conscience” or whatever you want to call it, so hey, it was better than nothing, that corrupting feeling of entitlement.  If David had a true choice and didn’t feel the need to fill that void, I’m not convinced he would have gone that route in the first place.  So once Charles did fill it, he was cool with as “ordinary” of a life as he will be able to manage under the circumstances.
5) The final Sydvid-scene in the nursery?  Okay, maybe I’ll have to rewatch it to be certain, but yeah, I think I’ll take a rare moment to criticize David when the notion of Syd helping...well, either version of David (adult vs. baby, just to clarify, lol) came up in the conversation.  Dude, this is most likely the last conversation you two will ever have, and you couldn’t have at least thanked her?!?  Also, they’re musing over the possibility that their paths won’t cross in this new timeline, but once you think about it, perhaps their meeting and falling in love -- yes, rape included -- in this timeline was important, in the sense that David had to go down that route in order to fully understand himself and find a way to fix those messy issues of his life.  Or at least change that one part, namely the role his true father played in that fate.  So perhaps Sydvid wasn’t a complete waste of time, or perhaps that’s just what I’m telling myself now three years later so I don’t feel completely disappointed by how that ended!  Bwahaha!  Also, I liked Syd’s aside, “I like your mom!” for some reason.  Given her own mother’s status and approach to motherhood, perhaps it was meant as an extreme and  decided compliment!  Kind of her way of saying, “You know, I think you may just have a chance now.”
6)  Backing up a bit, on that note, Syd’s battling the time demons and muttering, “David, whatever you’re doing, do it faster!” cracked me up.  I thought she’d all but given up on that version of David?!? but whatever...
7)  Chuck-n-Gabby’s final scene:  “Maybe I could be a teacher.”  Professor X-ref alert, folks!  😁 Bwahaha!  Also, when Gabby tells him that Baby Davy is “upstairs with his friends,” Chuck musing over the idea that David has friends.  Me:  “Yeah, but Dad, it’s complicated!” (Or maybe he’s thinking of Legion at that point, now that I think about it! 😱  There was also his description of Adult David as “an angry young man,” tbf, so perhaps he was astonished that there were people at least willing to try to help him out, idk.)  Also, the notion of Charles comparing notes with Gabrielle over who between the two of them faced the tougher time in terms of supernatural battles, lol...
Anyway, that’s it for now, I guess.  On to watching for the upcoming Blithe Spirit-trailer!!! 😁

Peachie5000′s Favourite Submissions for LegionFxWeek!
Day 1: Favourite Character
Versaphile
https://legionfxweek.tumblr.com/post/186819860152/defying-gravity-versaphile-legion-tv
The title “Defying Gravity” makes it seem as though this submission would be a lighthearted fun romance fic to start off the week. What it actually was was something unexpected, but even better. Defying Gravity has cutesy dialogue sprinkled into several parts that keeps the relationship between Lenny and Fem!David believable, but it truly shines when it delves deep into the workings of Clockworks’ abusive workings. The emotions are conveyed strong and heavy, and rarely does this fic pull punches. Both focuses of romance and desperation blend together to create a really investing fic, even if you’d usually be more into one part of it than the other.
Day 2: Shock!
Mutants-against-humans

Behind blue eyes is so iconic for its use of 2D animation to portray the battle of David and Farouk on the astral plane and I love that this picture still keeps the style of that fight similar to the original! The shot itself is very memorable; so the more simplistic areas used in this picture make it feel as though the entire thing was originally animated, not just the figures. Overall this picture is a great callback, and fits the prompt very well.
Day 3: Favourite Song Used
Trifargo
https://legionfxweek.tumblr.com/post/186935771299/trifargo-legionfxweek-day-3-favorite-song
There’s just something about the aesthetic of this gif that I love so much? It gives off a very worn, deserted feeling that fits right in with the original song. The colour palette is beautiful, the composition is interesting, and all of the graphics paint a very clear picture of David. It excels at showing how well David’s character fits into “Burning Down the House”.
Day 4: Delusion/Mental Health
Hexiva
https://legionfxweek.tumblr.com/post/186916897012/hexiva-title-i-watch-you-watch-rating-pg-13
“I Watch, You Watch“ is an amazing fic that understands Syd’s and Farouk’s problems and perspectives arguably better than the show does itself. It shows the reader a dynamic that wasn’t touched nearly enough upon in the main canon and it does so with delicate writing and emotional recounts of backstory.
Hexiva’s Day 6 submission, which is part 2 of this great fic, is equally as great as the first. While I enjoyed the second part a bit more, this first part is the backbone of their dynamic, which is why I chose this one rather than the latter.
Day 5: David/Divad/Dvd Dichotomy
Damstevens
https://legionfxweek.tumblr.com/post/186915155184/damstevens-legion-fx-week-day-5
There are multiple elements to why I love this gifset so much. I love the clips Damstevens used to showcase the differences between David, Divad, and Dvd, how David’s is fully in colour as the host. I love the font that was chosen, as well as how the gifset is laid out; it is aesthetically appealing to look at. What really put this gifset into this spot however, is the way in which Damsteven’s uses colour to highlight the God complex they each experience, relate them to eachother, and still make the gifset feel unique from gif to gif.
Day 6: Identity/Relationship Between Body/Mind
Hamsalo
https://legionfxweek.tumblr.com/post/186942479517/legion-fx-week-day-6-identityrelationship
Syd is a very interesting, complicated character, who happens to have a very interesting, complicated relationship with her physical body. I adore how this picture shows just how different her body and her mind is, with her mind being highlighted in a cool calm green, while her body is in a heavier red, almost walled off from the viewer. The shading, style, anatomy, and colours are well thought out and executed in general as well, which is an added bonus!
Day 7: Time Travel
Lilmissrandom
https://legionfxweek.tumblr.com/post/186980522258/legionfxweek-legionfxweek-day-7-time
I gotta agree with Rachelkellcr on this one, I love this submission. The giddiness shown in the animation with how the time eater jumps around is simultaneously adorable and maniacal at the same time. The idea is super unique too; overall it just puts a huge smile on my face when I see it. You wouldn’t usually think a cutesy style would work so well with a creepy monster, but it does here.
