Making my own post, but, can we also talk about these very weird and xenophobic ads that were rolling out in the last week(s) on TikTok when everyone was switching to The Little Red Book?

I’ve been concerned that the incoming president will make an end run around Congress, rendering their power moot.

Low and behold, TikTok users may beat him to it as they start using the Chinese app RedNote, using online translators to interact (in Chinese) and are leaving video messages for their personal “Chinese spies.” This app is currently the 3rd most downloaded in the US iTunes Store.

If the US Congress can be circumvented by an army of 17 year olds playing on their phones…guessing they don’t have the power they thought they had. Maybe Congress should learn what the internet and apps actually are before trying to pass laws about them.

They can switch to another app, and another, and on and on.

They’re not telling you that TikTok isn’t the only think being banned:

Byte Dance has more apps connected to it.

This includes:

- TikTok

- Lemon8

- CapCut

- Hypic

- Ulike

- Xigua Video

Please check it out for yourself. They’ve started removing them from the App Store, and Lemon8 has a pop up regarding the US ban.

i dont want yall to get the wrong idea, though. i dont think meta has a partnership with or bought out tiktok or anything. what i think is most likely is the gorvernment was able to work out some sort of deal with the heads of tiktok for shares, access, data, etc from tiktok that they didnt have before. they used this ban to strongarm them to give them the leverage they needed to make tiktok fold.

i think the creation of meta accounts and the ability to link all happening around the same time is a very inch resting coincidence considering the oligarchy of it all

what i think my main line of thinkin is that we should probably not be runnin back to tiktok. we dont know if itll stay, and if it does; we dont know how much the trump administration is going to be changing it in the coming time

remember to fact check everything you come across everywhere, keep on your toes, it takes no time to go google something and its good practice to keep your mind sharp cause dull brains aint any kind of use in comin up with solutions

Haha no but like wouldn’t it be such a funny prank to like start using older social media instead of hoping onto the newest ones and trying to revive them.

Haha wouldn’t it be so funny if we all started to use Flickr again haha, you know the website/app that was built for photo sharing and just that so it doesn’t even have likes just comments and “faves” which work as a saved file haha

Wouldn’t it sooo funny if we revived Flickr wouldn’t it guys it would be so funny haha you know it still shows you chronological stuff unlike other apps wow isn’t that soooo weird haha

It’s also like soo weird that you can organize photos into little sections like Pinterest and it’s free option allows you to host thousands upon thousands of photos n stuff and if you want to pay less than the basic Netflix fee and still not have ads (unlike Netflix and other social media) you can just do that.

So guys… what’s the general consensus on Red Note and Lemon8?

I know Lemon8 is made by TikTok and you can import your profile over but not much else.

Red Note looks interesting and I like that people are using it as a protest towards the US Government but I want to know as much as I can before signing up for either.
