#my food #added leftover vegan chili con fake carne to the sauce for some protein bc it had beans and lentils in it #the sauce is more veggies than tomato tbh #two shredded carrots two leeks some a finely chopped chunk of another root vegetable which idr the name of #red onion and garlic obviously #a zucchini an aubergine two bell peppers and a good amount of green olives #plus like... a bunch of spices and fresh parsley and a generous amount of lemon juice #can barely taste anything bc my nose is clogged but that's probably for the best bc I always bite my tongue when I eat this???

I may have gone slightly crazy at the grocery store yesterday.

#after a month and a half of relying on my mother for scraps #I fell into a hedonistic frenzy and bought steak and liquor and ice cream #cooked one steak in butter last night and served it in horseradish sauce #now I��ve got the other marinating in lemon juice and garlic and cumin and paprika #I’m going to make tacos with it #it feels good to be actually COOKING again #instead of just microwaving frozen burritos #because that’s all I could afford 😅

I cooked fish and I didn't fuck it up! It's not going to ever be my favorite food, and it's too pricy to do regularly, but I wouldn't be afraid to try it again.

#it was black void and it was really oily so it was a little too much for me #but i didn't hate it #at least it didn't taste like fish #if i do it again I won't do a pan sauce. i think the extra olive oil was what put it over the edge for me #I'll just do thyme garlic capers and a squeeze of lemon straight in the pan instead #*black cod #ive never cooked fish before so this was a new one

An attempt was made at soup using things that needed to be used up. I had some chicken I marinated and froze a few weeks ago; thawed it and threw it in a crock. Later added frozen spinach, leftover cooked mushrooms, and gnocchi along with some creamed soups. I sprinkled some mozzarella cheese on at the end and it made it taste better. I'll need to adjust some things if I do this again.

#birdy's food experiments #the chicken was marinated in Greek flavors while the mushrooms were soy sauce and garlic #it's a bit sour tasting because of all the lemon #i kind of like it though and I'm too lazy to want to cook for just myself #so crockpot at least means i eat something relatively healthy
