I know I’ve been quiet in recent times, but things have been happening behind the scenes. I picked up this cabinet a couple of days ago. I now have enough of a collection in this city to get things well set-up. The next job is to sort that garage, get some marquees printed, and get some more PCBs. I’ll post updates as I go.

Maybe I'm just overreacting or maybe it's the woman working in a male dominated field side of me, but idk some of these fans acting like women working in F1 NEED Vettel to save them rubs me wrong. Between engineers and F1 Academy and such, there are women within the paddock that we could be giving the chance to be the spokesperson for women and their inclusion within the sport. Why is it vital that we make a man who made a bit out of naming his car misogynistic, objectifying names through his whole career, and basically objectified most of the women he came in contact with in the paddock throughout his career? I know the whole "he changed once he had kids" excuse too, but idk, are you really the best advocate for women's inclusion if it took you having a daughter to recognize "hey, maybe women have a spot in the paddock that is worthy of actually valuing their contributions instead of objectifying them." I don't know, sorry for the rant, this attitude that he's the savior of women has just been bothering the hell out of me lately.
There's two things imo.
On the one hand, it's essential to have women at the forefront of this movement and that the resulting infrastructure and system that allows them to get in the sport and industry is built by them and for them, in the sense that it shouldn't be a favor done by men that can then be taken away at their leisure. So yeah, the accent should be put on the women already there, as in they should be talked about in the media but also they should be relied on on the ground to create that space.
On the other hand, like I said previously in a similar convo about Seb saying a queer driver would be welcomed in F1 (arguable but not the point here), when you're a minority trying to make your way into a space that's been built by, for, and around people from a (oppressive) majority, you need allies. The allies' job is both to help you change the structure from the inside either by taking action or supporting your actions ; and to prepare the place for when you do get there, by talking about it, educating fellow majority people in the space, basically contributing to your existence in that space not coming as a shock or surprise for them that would lead to knee-jerk rejection.
You're right that there are women in the paddock already who are thankfully given more and more space to exist and express themselves and make changes, however especially in F1 itself they are very few, even less at key jobs, and not in the cars. In that sense, there's nothing to be done but rely on F1 male drivers to talk for them in that specific "space inside the space" if you will.
However. Even then. Knowing none of them is a perfect choice to represent a minority given that they are the majority. Knowing that this isn't enough. Knowing that this is an imperfect temporary step towards something better. I personally don't think Seb should be the main spokesperson for women in F1.
All that being said they should still all talk about it + none of them should profit in any way from doing so. But well. That's unrealistic.

Philippines Bans Online Casinos Linked to Scam Centers: An In-Depth Look
In a decisive move to curb criminal activities, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered the shutdown of a vast network of online casinos that have been implicated in numerous illicit operations. These online casinos, known locally as Pogos, short for Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators, primarily serve players in mainland China, where gambling is prohibited. However, Pogos have increasingly been used as fronts for a range of criminal activities, including telephone scams, human trafficking, and other serious offenses.
A Troubled Industry
Under the presidency of Rodrigo Duterte, Pogos flourished as part of his administration's efforts to foster friendly relations with China. However, President Marcos, in his annual address to parliament, called for an end to the "desecration of our country." He criticized Pogos for masquerading as legitimate entities while engaging in financial scamming, money laundering, prostitution, human trafficking, kidnapping, torture, and even murder.
On Tuesday, the Philippines' gaming regulator announced plans to cancel the licenses of Pogos and phase out the sector by the end of the year. According to government estimates, the Pogo industry comprises over 400 licensed and unlicensed operations, employing around 40,000 people directly and indirectly. Despite generating an estimated 166.5 billion pesos ($2.9 billion) in annual revenue, the industry's economic costs are estimated to be much higher at 266 billion pesos annually.
Criminal Links and National Spotlight
The alleged connection between Pogos and criminal rings came under national scrutiny after a Pogo in a small town was discovered to be a front for a scam center. The town's mayor, Alice Guo, is accused of being a Chinese spy and is currently in hiding. Additionally, clandestine hospitals linked to Pogos were found to be offering plastic surgery services to fugitives and scam center workers to help them evade arrest.
Geopolitical Implications
Since assuming office, President Marcos has reversed the Philippines' pivot towards China, initiated by his predecessor Duterte, and has moved closer to the United States, the country's historic ally. Analysts suggest that the ban on Pogos could be interpreted as an effort to further distance the Philippines from China. Both nations are embroiled in a territorial dispute over the South China Sea, with tensions escalating in recent months.
"Pogos' presence has ceased to be a mere law and order problem. It has been linked to China's creeping 'occupation' of the Philippines for ordinary Filipinos," stated Jean Encinas-Franco, a professor at the University of the Philippines Diliman. She added that Marcos' decision could be seen as a rebuke to Duterte's open Pogo policy, potentially boosting his approval ratings ahead of the crucial mid-term elections in 2025.
Local Reactions
The ban on Pogos has been welcomed by various sectors within the Philippines. Trade Secretary Alfredo Pascual told local media that the decision makes the country more attractive to those seeking leisure, as Pogos have created a negative impression associated with violence. George Barcelon, chairman of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, expressed his approval, stating that Pogos attract undesirable individuals and endanger the moral fabric of the nation.
The Path Forward
As the Philippines moves to dismantle the Pogo industry, the government faces the challenge of managing the economic and social impacts of the shutdown. While the ban is expected to improve the country's image and reduce crime, it will also require addressing the displacement of thousands of workers and finding alternative sources of revenue to compensate for the loss from the Pogo sector.
The bold decision by President Marcos to shut down Pogos marks a significant step in addressing the intertwined issues of crime and international relations. As the country navigates this complex transition, the global community will be watching closely to see the long-term effects on the Philippines' economy, society, and geopolitical standing.

Tis the privilege of friendship to talk nonsense
“I’m worried about Matthew,” Mary said, having set down the coffee-pot, every Wedgewood cup filled. The meal might have ended with port or brandy for the men in a household aspiring to be fashionable, but to Jed’s eternal amusement, Mary held fast to her New Hampshirewoman’s disapproval of anything she thought was more for show than purpose and though she was not deeply involved with the temperance movement, she saw limited appeal in spirits, which unlike coffee or even tea, never enlivened the enervated nor hastened industry. Jed spent a good deal of his time trying to impress upon her the value of leisure, but admitted it was a Sisyphean task. She applied her considerable efforts, fussing he called it, to the well-being of those she called friends, so he could not be surprised at her declaration.
“I’m sure you needn’t,” Emma said. This only caused Mary to purse her lips in a manner Jed found adorably kissable, but which indicated she felt Emma was not taking seriously what she deemed a serious matter indeed.
“Why are you worried?” Henry asked. “He’s not written often since he went to New York. At least not to me. Perhaps you’ve heard more from him?”
“If she hasn’t, it’s not for lack of trying,” Jed remarked. “At this rate, we may send Daniel out West to earn his Harvard tuition as his mother’s spent it on postage—”
“It won’t work, Jed, Emma and Henry already know you for a fabulist. You ought to confine your exaggeration to your waistcoats,” Mary replied, sounding very much as she had when they’d first met in Alexandria, all asperity and wit. She turned to face Henry, whose earnestness still matched her own. “It’s not so much what he says as what he omits and there are times I almost feel he’s written me a sermon instead of a letter to a friend.”
“I thought it would be easy enough for him, in New York. They’re not known for their propriety as Boston is,” Emma said. She had found it more difficult than she expected to gain acceptance, even as Mrs. Reverend Hopkins, her soft drawl a lesser issue than the myriad small faux pas she made, which she discovered only through a raised eyebrow or a short, barely audible sniff. When Mary’s efforts at consolation had proven ineffective, she’d brought Emma to Margaret Brook and then to the Bhaers’ exercise in utopia. She’d left with a hand-printed program of “The Pirate’s Fearsome Revenge and Also, His Parrot Makes a Freind” as a talisman against disappointment. “No Lowells, no Cabots, it might as well be a children’s garden party at Plumfield.”
“Evidently the von Rhijns and the Astors would make the Cabots and Lowells quail,” Mary said. “There’s a brazenness in New York society that’s frowned upon in Boston and Matthew mentioned that some of the newer families, the Russells in particular, are rather given to excess, even though that is reflected in their charitable giving as well as their millinery.”
“You are concerned Matthew will be caught up in the battles between old and new money?” Henry asked. “That he may be diverted from his ministry and his neediest parishioners?”
“The man survived five holiday bazaars, including the one the former Miss Hastings attended,” Jed said. “Have some faith—”
“He was at home then,” Mary said. “He knew the players and he knew who he might call upon as allies, should he need them.”
“You make it all sound quite cut-throat,” Jed said. “Not that I don’t think Anne brought a Bowie knife to that sewing bee you hosted. I expect she spiked the punch from her trusty flask as well.”
“No one serves punch at a sewing bee,” Emma said.
“I’m afraid Matthew’s affections are becoming improperly engaged,” Mary interrupted. Henry frowned but Jed let out a low whistle, one his sons had all learned to replicate. He was teaching the girls in secret.
“Improperly engaged! Given the source of such an assessment, I can only assume our esteemed Reverend Forte is enamored of a circus performer or perhaps his inamorata is a lady aeronaut,” Jed said, making little effort to restrain himself. He was, after all, among friends.
“Do be serious,” Emma said, an exhortation Mary knew better than to ever bother with. Henry, uxuoriousness undimmed by nearly twenty years of marriage, patted his wife’s hand. Mary rolled her eyes, but Jed could tell she was equally amused by his playfulness and Emma’s exasperation. There was little latitude granted to a minister’s wife in Massachusetts and Emma’s thirsts for gossip and the latest fashion were generally unquenched.
“Not a widow of means, then?” Henry said.
“He writes almost effusively about a Miss Brook and no, Jedediah, there is little chance she’s any relation to Mrs. John Brook, the surname is common enough,” Mary said.
“What makes an engagement an improper one then, Molly?” Jed asked.
“As her title suggests, she is unmarried, but not fresh from the schoolroom. She is a lady of some years—”
“An elderly spinster,” Jed remarked. “Probably poor as a church mouse, though I’d defer to Henry to explain why all the mice who make churches their residence are doomed to being impoverished. Not much opportunity for cheese, I suppose—"
“Hush!” Mary exclaimed. “She is of middle years and unmarried but what makes the engagement risky—”
“Not risqué,” Jed muttered under his breath, low enough Henry could claim he hadn’t heard but loud enough he’d grinned.
“Is her connection to the van Rhijn family,” Mary went on.
“Is she a second cousin? A cadet branch? A companion?” Emma asked, speaking the word companion as she might say harlot.
“She is Mrs. van Rhijn’s only sister,” Mary said. “He was invited to luncheon at the van Rhijn house. They had New England clam chowder. Miss Brook admitted amidst the guests that she’d had it specially prepared to remind him of home.”
Emma looked aghast.
Henry looked as surprised as he had when his eldest daughter Lydia had announced her intention of studying Ancient Greek at Wellesley College the day after the school’s charter was announced. She had been five at the time and was already halfway through Cicero.
Mary looked concerned and also divinely self-satisfied, largely due to the expressions on the faces of both Hopkins and the near-absolute silence that had descended on the sitting room. Jed could only barely make out the sound of the boys arguing, Rebecca wheedling cakes from Mrs. Hudson for Beatrice and the Hopkins girls. They were dear to him, these three, and though he could not share in the apprehension over Matthew Forte’s affections and reputation, he was fond of the minister in his own way.
“As it’s evident the three of you believe Reverend Forte shortly to be torn limb from limb, either figuratively or literally, with the likelihood of a new iteration of New England chowder featuring a man of God, his frock coat, and quantity of diced potatoes doused in cream soon to be presented at the van Rhijn table, I would suggest a course of action,” Jed said, allowing himself to wax, if not rhapsodic, then comedically melodramatic. Mary might take him to task later, but they were all so earnest and Emma, in particular, needed to be reminded there was life outside the parlor and parish hall, life she had once lived, most threatening with her swinging hoopskirt. It was always fraught, to refer to the War, each of them carrying their own burdens, each of them managing in the best way they knew how, but they had once attended or performed in the dramas of the Mansion House Players and given the clear desire to make a tragedy out of a few lines in Matthew’s letter, their previous experience would be well to be evoked.
“Well, out with it,” Mary said. “You’re overdoing the dramatic pause, Jedediah. If Timothy and John were with us, you wouldn’t escape so lightly—”
He nodded. The two younger boys had his same taste for mockery and were only slightly reined in by Daniel’s steadiness, so like his mother’s, and Bea’s innocence. Rebecca would only egg them on. Mary could quell them all with a glance but only if she chose.
“Matthew needs an ally. Reinforcements. The introduction of an unexpected character from the wings, kitted out with a shield and sword. And flask,” Jed said. Henry and Emma still had blank expressions but a light came into Mary’s dark eyes as he spoke and he loved her for it. “Mrs. Frederick Morris—”
“Nurse Hastings?”
“Anne?”
“I may quibble with your approach, but I must admit, this is a pretty solution. A surgeon’s intervention,” Mary said. “No one can deny Anne has the acuity and aim of a scalpel. She’s impervious to shame, while being well-aware of its impact on those around her. And she has the resources to allow her to make a splash in New York society, though her money’s old enough she will merit some respect. I shall write her in the morning.”
“And if she does not succeed?” Emma said.
“I suppose Dr. Foster may find it necessary to visit Mrs. Manson Mingott and make sure she has been taking her tonics as prescribed,” Mary said, smiling. “Or then, Newport is lovely in the summer and we’d be happy to have you and the girls come to stay for a few weeks, Emma. Henry, if you can’t get away, you needn’t fret. We shall have it all well in hand and Mrs. Brook and Mrs. Laurence will make sure you don’t expire while living as a bachelor.”
“I notice you don’t leave Henry to Jo Bhaer’s tender mercies,” Jed remarked.
“I shouldn’t think he’d survive the theatricals at Plumfield,” Mary said. “And she has quite a heavy hand with caraway, which I know makes Henry dyspeptic.”
“Shouldn’t we just send you to Matthew’s side? Within a week, you’d have wedding bells rung for the lovesick couple and Mrs. van Rhijn ringing them herself as well as all the receipts for Delmonico’s menu for Mrs. Hudson to improve upon,” Jed said.
Henry nodded.
Emma smiled.
“I’m far too busy here at the moment,” Mary said. “And Anne is likely in need of some diversion.”
“Heaven help Mrs. van Rhijn,” Jed said.
“I believe Matthew must be trying his best in that regard,” Henry said.
“Unless she has already dispatched him for chowder,” Emma added, making them all laugh.

Thoughts on my shift in the past few days. Long. //I//P//. Free Palestine, Freedom For All, Reject Discrimination. No contradiction between those statements.
I fell for /native/news/ bullshit because I fooled myself into believing racist bullshit. Essentially, I convinced myself, because they're Indigenous (or say they are), that whatever they had to say about this could not in any way be antisemitic. Surely, they must simply be a principled anti-colonialist, and nothing more. If they seem to be going too far, why, it isn't hatred for the Jewish people, it must simply be anti-colonial zeal from their own experiences, channeled toward another struggle.
And the Palestinians are struggling, let's be clear. They are struggling, and they are struggling and suffering under a colonialist force that doesn't respect their fundamental right to life and freedom in their own land, a force of the IDF, the Likud party and their parliamentary allies, of violent nationalist anti-Palestinian settlers, and, crucially, they are funded and supplied by Western Christians, primarily US evangelical Christians, the US military-industrial complex, and many US police forces. Let me be even clearer: Israel is a puppet of the US, and only continues to exist at the leisure of the US and its NATO allies. If it were politically expedient, and more profitable, for them to drop Israel like a sack of potatoes, that would happen in a hot second, because that state is not a partner of the US, not an ally, it is a tool of the US. This genocide against the Palestinians, though conducted by Israeli boots on the ground (not all Israelis, and Jews=\=Israelis, it's not one-to-one), is not simply permitted, but according to the design of the US.
Back to my main point, I was a fool to convince myself they couldn't be antisemitic. Indigenous people... are people. Shocking, I know /s. Unfortunately, that means they can also be antisemitic, like anyone can, and... when there was a shooting at a synagogue in the US, where the shooter yelled "Free Palestine!", and /native/news/ not only refused to address and condemn that act, but just kept posting shit like saying that lighting a menorah means you support genocide and colonialism in Palestine, and that until this stops, anyone who is Jewish is guilty by virtue of being Jewish and celebrating a holiday that commemorates their own historic resistance to imperialist invaders - how am I not supposed to conclude /native/news/ is not antisemitic? You don't have to support the state of Israel, you don't have to support genocide, to oppose discrimination and violence against innocent people on the basis of religion and ethnicity. Opposing genocide there, also means not trying to kick up a pogrom over here.
Besides my point about how I was, admittedly, just plain stupid to assume that /native/news/ couldn't be antisemitic because they're Indigenous... how do I even know that they are? Like that other person said, internet anonymity is a grand thing and a right, etc, but when /native/news doesn't even talk to people, just posts screenshots, doesn't show any sign of deeper personality, how do we even know this is a human? Or only one human? Or if they're Indigenous or not? I'm all for colonizers shutting up and listening to Indigenous people about their own colonization, and what to do about it, but that doesn't mean I need to listen to a robot or a cell of white Strasserists that say they're Indigenous telling me that the best way to support Palestinians is to drive out any and all Jews I see, as if they're powerful and bad people who can put the brakes on this with enough discrimination, instead of just regular people trying to live their lives who don't need damn gentiles like me hounding them yet again.
Anyway, I'm a Norse pagan, I was raised Mormon (and left it primarily for its two-for-one anti-Indigenous racism and antisemitism, among a host of reasons)... so I'm already afraid of being perceived as antisemitic, but even more so of actually being that way. I also have very good friends, who are horrified at the ongoing genocide and oppose the state of Israel, who are Jewish. They are also horrified at the rise in people blaming them for something they, themselves, have nothing to do with. Even supposed friends have said or shared these things... they have received no such hate from Palestinians, but gentiles, well, they've received a lot of betrayal from us; even from me, for a time, even though I didn't consciously do that, just didn't stop to think of the full implications of the sentiments I was sharing.
I'm not waffling. I was just confused, and I'm finding my way now. What I know is, I oppose colonialism, I support freedom for Palestinians, I support militant resistance to colonialism against military targets, I oppose collective punishment and targeting of civilians, and I believe people of all three major Abrahamic faiths*, and of all ethnicities, can share Palestine in peace, provided that reparations are made (and not skimped on), that there are no restrictions of anyone's movement, that nobody is a second-class citizen, and for goodness' sake, no more burning down the olive trees while claiming you want to "make the desert bloom". Of course, whatever state, or lack thereof, cannot be a puppet of the US, cannot rely on militarism, and all reactionary nationalism must be dispensed with.
*Of all faiths, I hope, but I figure most people who want to live there are going to be Muslims, Jews, and Christians, along with the Druze, Sufis, and other minor Abrahamic faiths. It's holy to them, after all. Me, I have nothing against the land, it's just not really relevant to me personally in the sense of being personally sacred, let alone enough to live there. It surely is a Holy Land, and I don't see it as lesser, but it isn't my Holy Land. I don't know if there really would be any kind of specific Holy Land for me, I'm just a confused kinda pagan fella. Anyway, I'm not proposing that any place in the world should only be populated by these or those specific religions, just acknowledging that most folks who will live here will be from this particular religious family.

Keep The Faith Ch 27: An Alliance
Scott strolled through the marketplace leisurely. Beside him, Lusha rattled off a string of information, reading off one of the multitudes of papers stacked in her hands. “Textile sales are up, leading to an increase in domestic profits. However, most of those profits are lost because they have to reenter the international economy in order for us to purchase the dyes we need to produce the textiles,” she said.
Scott nodded along, idly taking note of how busy the various stalls were. Today was a slow day, but that was to be expected. The marketplace rarely saw much traffic during the middle of the week. “The Sheep Shack has been producing at maximum capacity and is responsible for producing more than seventy percent of our textile exports. However, we are struggling to keep up with demand as we are severely limited by our raw wool supplies.”
Scott’s brow furrowed. “I thought our rural villages were mostly shepherds?” Lusha nodded curtly. “They are, but Rivendell is also one of the smallest of the empires. Combine that with the landscape, most of which is largely inhospitable for typical livestock populations, we are severely limited in what we can farm.” Scott hummed to himself, puzzling it out. The two of them continued through the marketplace. Lusha was silent, allowing him time to think.
“So, we need large quantities of dye and hopefully more land in order to raise sheep,” Scott murmured to himself. “The dye is a priority, since the whole textile operation depends on it if it has any chance of keeping up with the market. More land for the sheep would be nice, but we can probably find another solution if it comes to it. We can afford to put it on the backburner for now.” He glanced over at Lusha. “What would the consequences be if we can’t keep up with market demand?”
“Well, aside from the issue of potential lost profits depending upon the cost of the dye, we might also lose quite a bit of social and economic credit among the other empires. That would mean sales would go down and we’d lose many secular connections. Right now, we have a near monopoly on the textile industry, but if we were to lose any kind of standing, the other empires would sense the opening and swoop in.”
Scott’s eyebrow rose at that. “Would it be such a loss if the other empires were to begin their own textile markets? We could still turn a profit with healthy competition. We’d just have to focus on keeping the quality good and the prices relatively low.” Lusha shook her head. “Maybe. But the sale of textiles makes up for nearly ninety percent of all income. We might be able to survive with healthy competition but the blow to the economy wouldn’t be worth it.”
“So the best thing to do would be to find an ally that would be willing and able to trade us the vast quantity of dye that we need and that we’re hopefully on good enough terms with to ask that they lend us land to raise livestock. We know anyone like that?”
Lusha began muttering under her breath, cycling through the other empires and their various exports. Finally, she seemed to land on one that satisfied her. “The Overgrown is known for its dyes, seeing as it’s situated in one of the most fertile flower forests on the continent. From what I’ve heard, Lady Katherine of House Blossom is quite the generous ruler, and our peoples have historically been close allies. I can’t say for sure whether the request to borrow land will go over well, but of all the empires that can also provide us with the dye we need, they're the best option.”
“Got it,” Scott said. “Do we think she would appreciate a formal visit and negotiation, or would it be better to just pop in and ask her for it up front?” “The Overgrown doesn’t stand on ceremony overly much,” Lush mused. “Of course, without having met Her Ladyship in person, I can’t say with any certainty. I think the direct route would be the best route however, as it would be both sincere and expedient. I’ve been informed that both of those are things that are heavily valued in the Overgrown.”
“When would the best time to go be?”
“You’re clear for the rest of the day, if you’d like to go now. The concern with the dye was the only thing that we truly needed to address.”
“Great,” Scott said. “I’ll be back by this evening then.”
He spread his wings, and prepared to launch himself into the air. Then he paused. “Which direction do I need to go?”
“Due west,” Lusha said with a hint of a smile. With that, he took off.
⸎
Wind whistled through his wings and tousled his hair. It was getting longer now. He probably needed a haircut. But then again he kind of liked the feeling of having it longer. Maybe he’d braid it. That might be nice. He remembered Sunflower had liked braiding it. He shoved that thought down quickly. He really didn’t want to think about his nightmares right now.
Beneath him, the landscape changed from dark, snowy mountains to flat green plains. Sparse trees turned to a lush carpet of flowers. The untamed landscape turned to a well beaten stone path and small houses started to appear, dotting the valley with soft pinks and blues.
Scott touched down on the path, and wandered along it, keeping his eyes peeled for any signs of Katherine. The houses never seemed to get larger, simply gathering in small clusters instead, as if the tenants had simply built themselves their own little residence rather than moving out.
Gardens sprawled out around the properties, decorating the sides of the paths with bright tulips and poppies and cornflowers. In nearly every house, someone was attending to the plants. They were pruned and watered and planted with the utmost care. It was fascinating to watch. Scott found himself lingering in front of more than a few houses and watching as the people nurtured their gardens.
No one seemed to think it strange, though. When they noticed him, they simply gave him a smile and a wave. Scott couldn’t help but find himself returning the friendliness. Eventually, the path seemed to reach its end.
A gate rose over him, carved of soft white stone and engraved with designs of the flowers and rivers. Behind it sat a grove, ringed by a thick circle of oak and birch trees. Flowers spread over the ground, making it look as if it were a swirling carpet of color. The path cut through it all, draped in moss and grass. In the center of the grove sat a small fountain, carved of the same soft white stone. Water flowed from it, feeding the whole valley. Sitting by the edge of the fountain and tending to the flowers sat Lady Katherine herself.
Scott cleared his throat awkwardly, hoping to get her attention. She glanced up and smiled when she saw him. “Hello,” she said with a small wave. “You’re Scott, right?” He nodded. “Yup. Is it Katherine? I know we met in passing, but it’s nice to meet you properly this time.”
“Yeah, it is.” Katherine stood and brushed the dirt off her dress. It was lilac, the same shade as some of the flowers in the grove. An amethyst crown sat perched on her head, sparkling in the sunlight. A belt hung around her waist, holding a sword sheath. Scott could tell by the weathering on the handle that it was very much well used.
“So,” Katherine said. “What can I do for you? Are you here for business or pleasure?” “Business, technically,” Scott said. “But I wouldn’t mind sticking around for a bit. Your kingdom is really nice.” Katherine beamed. “I’m so glad! Everyone has an equal hand in helping the Overgrown and I’m glad to hear that their work is paying off! If you want to stick around a bit, I recommend going to see the tower. It’s up the hill just a little ways, and we recently refurbished it. It’s really pretty.”
“I’ll definitely check it out,” Scott said with a nod. “But let’s go ahead and get the business out of the way, first. If you don’t mind, obviously.”
“Oh, it’s no hassle. What can I do for you?”
“Well, I was wondering if I could arrange to get dye from you guys in bulk. We need a lot of it. Is there anything I might be able to give you in return?”
Katherine considered it for a moment, her fingers trailing over some of the taller flowers. They seemed to lean into the touch, responding to her magic with their own. Distantly, Scott wondered how exactly he knew it was magic that seemed to be bleeding from the palm of Katherine’s hand, calling all the nearby plants to her.
“Would a kingdom wide discount on textiles work?” she said, pulling him out of his thoughts. Scott blinked, trying to process what it was Katherine had asked. “Oh, um yes, that’ll work. I mean, I’ll have to consult with some of my advisors to work out the logistics, but I can’t see an issue with that. Is that all you guys might want?”
The flowers nudged at Katherine’s ankle. She rolled her eyes fondly at the motion. “The Overgrown requires a tribute,” she said. “Oh.” Scott’s eyes widened. He began digging through his inventory. He had a few things in there that would work, but it wasn’t much. Hopefully it would be enough to please the ancient kingdom.
He dug out the items, a bouquet of flowers and a handful of emeralds. Katherine’s eyes widened. “Oh wow,” she murmured. “That’s…that’s so generous. You can, uh, you can put that in the fountain if you want.”
Scott placed the items in the base of the fountain, the flowers clearing a path for him as he did so. As soon as he placed them in the water they dissolved, evaporating into the air in a shimmering cloud of glitter.
He stood there for a moment, awed by the display. He was no stranger to magic, but to have it run through the whole kingdom, to have surround him in a soft warmth…it was wonderful.
Eventually, he shook himself out of his stupor. “Why don’t you show me around that tower? I’d love to see it.”
“Sure!” Katherine led him back through town, in the direction of her newly refurbished tower.
⸎
He was running, tearing through the trees and rocks. Get away. He needed to get away. There, the peak. He’d have more power there. He could call for help there.
He practically threw himself at the rock face, hand closing around a hold and forcing himself to heave his uncooperating body up the cliff. He risked a glance over his shoulder once he reached the halfway point.
It was still following him, racing across the rocky ground faster than he could possibly run, too powerful to ever escape. He’d be staring into those glowing red eyes as the creature’s antlers dug into his skin and muscle and tore and ripped and killed him.
He forced those thoughts down and forced himself to keep climbing. Just make it to the top. Make it to the top and his god would save him. His god had to save him. Didn’t he?
Just as he set his hand against the flat cliff top, he felt something slam into the back of it, the bone shattering with a deafening crack.
He looked up to see those horrid red eyes and mottled black fur. Death clung to the thing like a disease, poisoning the very air around it. Its eyes were the same color as his brother’s.
How had the stag beaten him to the cliff? That should have been impossible!
A bird circled overhead, its bright plumage burning against the night sky. Its cries sounded almost like it was laughing.
The stage bent its head, its face carved in a snarl, and he felt one of its antlers pierce his lung. The other embedded itself in the side of his stomach. He hung there limply, whimpering in fear as the thing pulled him off the rock face.
He didn’t want to die. He had so much life to live. His brother needed him. Rivendell needed him. His god needed him. He had so much left to do. But he was helpless against the stag. He didn’t want to die.
“Please, Aeor,” he begged. “Save me.”
The stag shook its head, flinging him loose and sending him tumbling across the ground. He could feel the warm blood beginning to pool underneath him, draining his life force drop by drop.
The stag stalked towards him, a bird nestled in the crook of his antlers. The horns were painted the same red as the bird’s feathers, all of it dyed with his blood.
He was dying. He was going to die here. He would leave his people alone, would leave his brother alone. Everyone who was relying on him, praying that one day he would save them from this disease…he’d leave them alone.
He took a rattling breath in and looked to the north star. “I’m sorry.”
And then, he felt something be torn out of him.
Ice spread across the plateau, rising in jagged pillars and shielding him. One lucky pillar rose just beneath the poisoned stag, spearing it through the heart. Despite himself, he breathed a sigh of relief. At least the damn thing was dead. The parrot was nowhere to be seen.
As suddenly as it had begun, the ice stopped, and once again the night was silent. He continued to stare up at the sky, tracing the constellations as blood continued to stain the ground beneath him.
His eyes traced the constellations, following the lines of The Trident. He’d always loved Pixandria’s version of the myth behind it. A sign left by the original Prophet of Death, pointing to the desert he’d led his people into as they fled a war that threatened to destroy the world. An assurance that there would always be a refuge from fear.
He had always wanted to leave a sign like that. He’d always wanted to protect his people from the evil’s of the world. He supposed he’d never get that chance now.
Beside him, someone knelt down, and placed a hand over his wounds, not caring for the sticky blood. He turned his head to look into their faces.
“It is alright, child,” they assured. “I will not have my champion dying so soon. Sleep now. Get some rest.” Scott slid into unconsciousness as his wounds began to heal.
⸎
Scott jolted awake, chest heaving with fear. The feeling of antlers in his chest and stomach still lingered. His whole body ached, and he felt himself instinctively checking for blood. The dream had felt so real. It had hurt so much. He had been about to die. Somehow, he knew that if the strange figure hadn’t saved him, he would have died.
But even that wasn’t as important as something else in that nightmare had been. Because Scott had never had a brother. Right?

The USCG Documentation Certificate: Your Key to Boating Benefits
When the days grow longer, and the scent of saltwater fills the air, it’s clear that spring is upon us, unlocking the desire to take to the waters. For boat owners, maritime professionals, and yacht enthusiasts, owning a vessel isn’t just about the freedom of the open sea—it’s also about navigating the essentials of vessel ownership. At the helm of these essentials is the USCG Documentation Certificate—a pivotal piece for any serious mariner’s documentation. With the professional, informational, and instructive approach you expect from Vessel Registrar Center, we’ll explore how this document isn’t just regulatory compliance but a gateway to myriad benefits, especially as you gear up for springtime cruising.
Official Status and Proof of Ownership
Starting with the fundamentals, the Certificate of Documentation establishes your craft as a federally recognized vessel of the United States. Beyond mere paperwork, this signifies your vessel’s identity and standing within the maritime community. Whether you are a broker finalizing a sale or an owner resolving a dispute, the Certificate serves as irrefutable proof of ownership. It’s an authoritative legal record that offers assurance in various transactional and legal matters pertaining to your prized vessel.
Beyond State Registration
The privileges endowed by this documentation exceed the contours of essential state registration. Where state registration is akin to a coastal map, the USCG documentation certificate is a comprehensive sea chart guiding you to broader horizons. Documented vessels don’t just carry a title; they have a mark of distinction and a suite of benefits on domestic and international tides.
Financing Advantages
One can’t overstate the financial merits of possessing a USCG Documentation Certificate. Documented vessels often find favor in the eyes of financiers, potentially unlocking maritime mortgages or liens with favorable terms that might otherwise be inaccessible. In the realm of purchases or upgrades, documentation can be the keel that helps balance your boating budget, setting the stage for the next chapter in your nautical narrative.
International Explorations
With springtime comes the allure of international waters, promising adventures to distant shores. For such quests, the USCG documentation certificate is a formidable ally. It streamlines the process of customs and port entry procedures, making it more than a document—it’s your passport to the world’s ports. It holds high esteem in international circles, reducing the bureaucratic headwinds that can hinder a vessel’s seamless transition from one jurisdiction to another.
Safety & Recognition
Boating is not without risks, but the Documentation Certificate offers an additional safety net. It ensures your vessel is part of a national registry that can be crucial in times of emergency, enhancing traceability for search and rescue operations. The peace of mind this brings cannot be quantified, heralding the Certificate as a protective emblem and a beacon of security.
Springtime Possibilities
Here’s where we breathe a spring twist into the narrative. Documentation can unfurl the sails for new opportunities as you usher in the season of rejuvenation. Perhaps you’re plotting a Bahamas getaway or cozying up to the idea of a leisurely cruise down the coastline—such aspirations are more tangible when your vessel brandishes the Certificate.
Are you dreaming of scaling up to a larger vessel this spring? Your documentation might be the golden ticket for securing the necessary financing. With it comes stress-free sailing, and the knowledge that your vessel meets official guidelines amplifies your seafaring pleasure.
While statistics on boat loans made for documented vessels versus those state-registered are challenging to pin down, industry whispers suggest the financing edge goes to the former—a testament to the trust and credibility that the Certificate carries within financial circles.
The Full Spectrum Of Endorsements We must glance briefly at the array of specific endorsements—fishery, coastwise, recreation, etc.—accompanying the USCG Documentation Certificate. Each one unlocks further opportunities and recognizes your vessel’s operational scope. Whether your craft is purposed for commercial fishing or coastal trade, endorsements tailor your documentation to your maritime ambitions.
USCG Documentation Certificate with Vessel Registrar Center A USCG documentation certificate is a beacon that guides you through regulatory waters and illuminates the potential of your boating pursuits. While navigating the intricacies of documentation may seem daunting, remember that Vessel Registrar Center is here to help you sail through the paperwork. Consider this Certificate your vessel’s ally, unlocking a season of boating opportunities that awaits with the promise of spring. Happy sailing!

Frequent travellers especially find the five-year multiple-entry Egypt Tourist Visa appealing since it provides convenience and flexibility. Longer stays, more shopping, and a local economic boost are expected results from this.
Additionally likely to draw a varied spectrum of visitors is the more general eligibility for visa-on-arrival. Egypt is positioning itself as a top destination for both leisure and business travel by making it simpler for visitors from countries including India, China, and others to visit.
advantages for Egypt's economy
With almost 12% of Egypt's GDP coming from tourism and millions of employment created, it is a major player in its economy. The new Egypt Tourist Visa programs are part of a greater endeavour to revive this important industry that has suffered losses because of the epidemic and other world events.
Apart from increasing visa fee income, the expected rise in tourist numbers will propel expansion in allied industries, including retail, transportation, and hotel sectors. Moreover, the flood of visitors will generate fresh employment possibilities, especially in areas mostly dependent on tourism.
Future Prospects
Egypt is not only trying to recover but also flourish in the post-pandemic world with these new visa rules. Given the country's special attractions and the simplicity of access made possible by the new Egypt Tourist Visa options, the government's ambitious but reasonable goal of 30 million visitors by 2028 is attainable.
Egypt is also spending on marketing campaigns and infrastructure to improve its appeal even more. These initiatives aim to highlight Egypt as a safe and friendly place by employing worldwide advertising campaigns, enhancement of tourist sites, and improvement of airport facilities.
