LMK headcanon / hypothesis

So, the season 3 special has shown that Sun Wukong, in all fights before, was holding back his strength. He could’ve had destroyed everybody in short time, could’ve finished the battles within seconds. Instead, he limited his strength and powers. Liu-er Mihou even calls him out on it.

What interests me is that a) it seems to go in line with Sun Wukong receiving injuries, and b) he never loses control.

For a). The most obvious example is when he fights Nezha, then breaks the shield surrounding the map. The whole process as well as the explosion of the shield breaking injures Sun Wukong to the point that he’s in visible pain.

And b). Even when he’s under a time crunch, Sun Wukong has to fight Nezha to a stand-still and pin him down with several of his clones. He has to excert force to break the shield until it shatters. There’s no last second burst of strength, no triumphant crash.

Of course, Sun Wukong knows his power. He spent years, later centuries to master them. He knows how to use them safely or else he’d have accidentally hurt one of his monkies or friends before.

Where my thoughts went, later solidied because of @ninja-knox-ur-sox-off, is that this level of restraint plus control seen in Lego Monkie Kid maybe exists because both of training and experience, and a specific mindet. I feel that Sun Wukong has created a system of mental blocks that allot him a percentage of his power for any situation. It depends on how he perceives a situation with how fast he can switch between levels.

This also affects how sturdy his body is. He can’t separate the strength of his body from the rest of his powers. So how physically vulnerable he’s to various kinds of attacks depends on his ‘power levels’ as well and how much energy funnels into his body.

I was really sure what to do for MK’s abilities, i was thinking he’d have random boons from random gods, it sorta fits with the amalgamation of powers he has in the show. but, any thoughts?

With season 5 being set in the underworld, i think i might do everyone in monkie kid in this style and then like do the backgrounds and everything ???? it might be a cool idea so put in characters u want me to do!

anyways i think he came out really cute and the lil details of Mac and SWK bein half n half was fun to balance

Season 5 spoilers

Alright so this is about the "incident" between Wukong and Macaque. Speculations and analyzing.

So gonna admit, back during season 4, I believed the theory that Macaque didn't fully see what happened during their fight and that Wukong actually didn't actually kill him. I thought it feed into the mystery on who is pulling the strings and honestly didn't believe the show would show one of the main characters killing someone.

But now, season 5 has me completely changing my thoughts and theories.

The scene was less then 5 seconds, but we learned so much. Not only were the flashbacks the same for Wukong and Macaque, but we finally got to hear a piece of what happen. Specifically that it wasn't the case of Macaque begging for mercy or Wukong listening to orders, it was the two of them being pushed to their limit. If this goes like it does in JTTW then they been doing this for days, and the both of them probably growing desperate. With Macaque becoming sadistic and Wukong furious.

But what sells the idea was the on going lesson for season 5.

Beside the lesson being "angst and suffering" the main bit was that there is always another way. Which lead to MK's amazing "yeah, no" conclusion for the finale, but the fact he learned it from both Macaque and Wukong. With Wukong's, "choose your own path" and Macaque's "The choices they are giving you aren't the only choices you got". They weren't just referring to the war against the celestial realm or the imprisonment under the mountain. They were referring to THE fight.

The two of them at the time only saw one solution. Macaque saw that threats and violence was the only way he could make Wukong listen and he wanted him to hurt as much as he did. While Wukong had to fight as his friends were at risk by the person who he saw abandon him and thought he could trust that wouldn't listen to reason. All building up till the only solution left ended with the staff through Macaque's eye. Since then they've been either repressing this moment or replaying the memory, and when they do. They realize, there was always another choice.

And yeah season 5 showed that they weren't scared to pull their punches, so bringing up Wukong killed his best friend is completely plausibe(guess it makes sense, the first season showed him smashing DBK out of the mortal realm with a mountain).

And I will be so glad if they go in this direction, because it wouldn't be the case where the blame gets shrugged on someone else like Tripitaka or "The Evil Mastermind". What happened during the "incident" was between them, and both of them are at fault. Both of them believed they were betrayed and abandoned, and both since that time has realized they've made mistakes. And even as they now fight, deep down they still care for each other and don't want to loose each other again. The only question being, how many times does the world have to almost end for them to admit it?

Like 1st ep he hatched out of a stone egg.

He’s being trained by SWK. (He’s learning Subhodi’s teachings, idk if I spelt his name right? I hope I did💀)

He wanted 2 get stronger & 2 fight better. (The whole Macaque episode, reached my image limit but u get what I mean.)

He robbed the celestial realm of their immortal peaches & pills.

He got trapped in the trigram furnace.

He’s literally friends w/ reincarnations/descendent of SWK’s old buds.

He went on a JTTW. (It’s cut off but SWK says “we’re going on a journey to the west”.)

He technically fought the Jade Emperor.

(All in the name of protecting his family/city btw. Like SWK w/ his friends/kingdom.)

We’ve also seen him w/ the circlet since literally the 1st ep

And he has withheld important info 2 protect others. (It says “I wanted to protect you, keep it a secret.” btw.)

He’s also impulsive & usually runs in2 fights w/ out a plan. He’s destructive, the fact that they destroy the city a shit ton is referenced in the show. Like a lot. There is sm more I could add but I think u get the gist, MK having a “villain arc” doesn’t seem like a stretch at all 2 me, it honestly makes sense.

(Ofc MK & SWK aren’t the same, how they did things/went abt it is different, the context is not the same, but parallels & all that good shit.)
