hyungseok didn’t know what happened.

one minute he was standing there, happily chatting to crystal and jay, and the next minute crystal’s eyes were glowing with a righteous fury hyungseok knew didn’t belong to her.

“crystal!” he shouted, parrying her sword with his own, “get a grip!”

jay tried to help him, but the daughter of zeus brushed him away like he meant nothing, her electric blue eyes solely focused on hyungseok. crystal’s blade came down on him, heavy with the wrath of the gods, and all hyungseok could do was try his best to hold her off. he’d always been better with a bow than a sword. he didn’t have time to learn all the weapons before being shoved into a quest. 

he didn’t want to hurt crystal, nor did he want her to hurt him. so all he did was defend himself, refusing to attack. she attacked him with everything she had, lightning and thunder and years of living as a demigod. 

“crystal, stop!”

she swung her blade down, her entire form wreathed in lightning. hyungseok would’ve been dead if not for jay pushing him out of the way in the nick of time. the son of hades grunted as crystal’s sword sliced a line from his shoulder to waist. his blood sparked with lightning, and the scythe in his hand clattered to the ground as he collapsed.

hyungseok took a deep breath, trying to control his world shattering around him, and with all the power he could muster, he shouted: “CRYSTAL, STOP!”

she froze where she stood, halted in time.

“jay!”

hyungseok fell to his knees next to him, trying to stop the blood. jay’s breath came in ragged gasps. “jay, stay with me, come on, you gotta stay with me!”

jay coughed weakly, and blood bubbled out of his lips. i’m okay, he tried to say, don’t worry about me.

“but you’re bleeding!”

well... he reached up to press a clammy hand against hyungseok’s cheek. better me than you, i suppose. you’ve got more to do with your life than let it end like this.

and then a hole opened up in the floor.

jay’s hand latched onto his immediately as the concrete floor under him fell away, and hyungseok grabbed onto jay’s hand with all the strength in his body. he squeezed so hard he could feel the bones in jay’s hand shift under his grip.

it was hard. jay was around the same height as him, with a similar build too, and hyungseok didn’t know how long he could last. the fight against crystal had already left him exhausted.

you have to let me go.

“no! i won’t!”  hyungseok shook his head vehemently. “ jay, you’ll fall! you’re already-” both of their hands were slippery with jay’s blood, and hyungseok almost lost his balance when a part of the pavement next to him crumbled and fell away.

jagiya, it’s okay. jay still had the energy to smile at him, even though his grip was growing slack. the underworld is my domain. i know it’s tartarus, but i’ll be fine. 

tartarus? hyungseok had heard about the rumors - tartarus was reserved as a special kind of hell for the wicked and the damned. even if he was hades’ only demigod son, there was no way jay - kind, sweet, mortally injured jay - would make it out of there alive. 

hyungseok couldn’t bear the thought of never seeing jay again. “even if you’re a son of hades, that’s still- you’ll still-”

jay’s smile turned sad. i love you, he mouthed, his lips moving around the words. more than i care about myself. so you have to let me go.

jay’s hand slipped out of hyungseok’s, and hyungseok watched him fall down, down, down, until the darkness swallowed him whole. the yawning chasm to the underworld closed with a rumbling of earth.

hyungseok couldn’t stop himself from shaking, gasping as the tears fell from his eyes. jay was gone, maybe forever.

the only thing left of his best friend - his friend who loved him too much to let him die, sacrificed himself to tartarus for him - was the jagged crack in the ground, and the blood on hyungseok’s hands.

“i swear,” he whispered, his guilt and grief fading into a red-hot, boiling rage, “i’ll destroy all of those bastard gods, every single one.”

the silence was deafening. it was like the gods were mocking him, saying i’d like to see you try, boy.

the threads of fate had already been put in motion, and there was nothing more hyungseok could do than fulfil the second half of that god-damned prophecy.

i get it i get it i really get it but also it's very frustrating when a work of fiction raises you expectations, makes you thrilled for The Big Confrontation, and then the next post-clifhanger installment comes and it goes "after everything was over,"

She wasn't allowed to contact a therapist or a mental health specialist but she got her personal photographer walking all over Buckingham Palace in QEll's private quarters and QEll's childhood dollhouse to snap pictures, make a whole mockumentary in South Africa behind The Palace's back, do "work lunch" with staffs outside, visit an apothecary after closing hours and all the other obvious things which in no way showed that she was restricted in the BRF?

But she couldn’t contact a therapist. She had to contact HR. Only HR is allowed to solve mental health concerns. /s

Anyway. That HR reference was so random, wasn’t it? Here’s my theory: It was a spin attempt to cover up Meghan getting a HR call about her behavior towards the staff re the bullying allegations.

Here’s a very abbreviated timeline:

October 31, 2018: Jason Knauf writes a letter describing Meghan’s bullying of/behavior towards staff is sent to Buckingham Palace HR. William begins discussion to split the households.

January 16, 2019: Meghan has thoughts of self-harm because of bullying.

March 14, 2019: BP announces the household split. The Sussexes are moving their offices and staff to BP. (The Cambridges, their staff, and their offices to remain at KP.) It sounds like the KP staff - who up to this point were shared between the Cambridges and the Sussexes - could choose if they stayed with the Cambridges or moved with the Sussexes.

Now, two and a half months for HR to follow up on a complaint is a bit long to me, but when you consider that any HR worth their mettle would look into a complaint to determine if it’s legit before escalating it and when you consider how much “kickbacks” KP, CH, and BP were doing in those days (KP sends something up to BP, they kick it to CH, who sends it back to KP, who gets frustrated and sends it back to CH, so on), it does seem a little plausible.

So my theory is that Meghan was contacted in January by HR about the bullying allegations (which she obviously didn’t like and found very offensive) and the remediation step was to separate her from the complainants, so the decision to split the household was finalized. The KP staff was invited to choose if they’d stay or go and once everyone made their decisions and new spaces were found for the Sussexes, the official BP announcement was made.

But that still left the pesky HR phone call on the record about Meghan and bullying. And since the Sussexes were both paranoid about the media invading their privacy with the palace’s support, Meghan needed a way to spin an angry HR call that makes her the aggrieved victim. Since the palace wouldn’t contradict her (“never complain, never explain”), she twisted the story for Oprah and then her glass house began falling to pieces.

August: N normalish on social but less posts (I think she’s legit booked and busy). Maybe hopefully L announces SOMETHING work related. More likely pics come out of him on holiday with R S A etc. (shoes, caviar, yachts, more shoes…). Possible Deuxmoi “reveal” of N love life (likely will be BS). Deuxmoi continues to post about L and A as pics come out.

Sept-Oct: Bton resumes filming; N and L re enter the bubble (but have less screen time and less obligation to be there). Maybe some social post/story from N of them together on set.

Holidays: L and A either buckle down and get more serious, or break up (leaning toward break up in culmination with Bridgerton filming). Sorry, people who think A will be allowed to show up to set all the time are absolutely delusional.

there's this thing going around on twitter of "evil anime characters" or whatever which includes Griffith, a couple villains and a couple completely normal guys that didn't do anything bad, and people keep saying that they're comparing the normal ones to a rapist and I just find that stance on Griffith's character so diminutive. The entire Berserk fandom seems to be completely unwilling to engage with his character in any way that isn't hating him over one scene. I feel like Miura really missed the mark on the eclipse rape for many reasons, but when it comes to Griffith, making him do what is universally recognized as one of the worst things you can do to someone else, which writers (including Miura) often use as shorthand to indicate someone is irredeemably evil, just invited fans to despise him completely. It's just frustrating to see his character, which I find very interesting and compelling, being reduced to a generic cruel caricature because of a poor writing decision. It's like people blame Griffith himself as if he's a real person that chose to do what he did instead of thinking of why he was written to do that and how it affects the story. I fear we have death of the author'd too close to the sun and now everyone in fandom treats characters like people instead of devices through which someone tells a story. Idk I don't have a question or anything lol, this is just something I think about and wanted to commiserate over I guess? I love your metas btw!!

I think there are different cultural expectations in terms of how rape is treated in media, both in North America vs Japan, but also in like the mid 90s vs now honestly, that make the Eclipse rape not as character-breaking a scene in context.

But at the same time considering the amount it's been downplayed in NeoGriffith's narrative, as well as iirc Miura mentioning that he has regrets re how far the Eclipse went (though this might be in reference to killing everyone else off lol, I don't quite recall the complete context), I do think it's kind of become the elephant in the room in a way that feels legit pretty awkward lol.

And yeah it's definitely a major part of why the English-speaking fandom is so bonkers about how they react to Griffith lol, and it's frustrating that people refuse to like, read the story beyond that.

This is a bit of an old post of yours but I saw @/thisismisogynoir reblog it and i just wanted to say: your post about ppl being way too comfortable associating underaged characters with sexual stuff put what i've been thinking for the longest time into words. That stuff genuinely makes me SO uncomfortable yet almost no one around me understands. Its so disgusting how often underage characters are sexualized in fandom spaces and the worst part is, it starts with grown ass pedo adults doing it then it SPREADS to most of the KIDS in the fandom who then see that behavior as normal!!

It's particularly sickening for me since i come from a culture where "childhood" lasts alot longer, like 21 year olds are still considered kids and still at the age to be pampered and cared for by their parents so you can imagine my horror when I got into fandom spaces and saw people justifying making NSFW content of 16 YEAR OLDS. I once literally got called SENSITIVE in an Instagram comments section by other PJO fans for saying that it's creepy to make sex jokes about Percy and Annabeth, and they said I was overreacting bc "they're almost adults anyway, real teens have sex at this age"...... Like just because irl teens do doesnt mean you should be encouraging that and normalizing it!!

Queer rights are a legit reason to support Israel

With the advent of Pride Month, social media has been full of reports of pro-Palestinian protestors conflating "solidarity for Palestine" with LGBT rights. The reports go something like this: "Don't use queer rights as a weapon of 'colonization'". And it has many brothers and sisters.

Today I am doing the opposite. I tell you: As a gay man, the fact that Israel is gay friendly is part of the reason I support it. Both your country's existence and in its war against Hamas. And "Part of the reason" is the operative part of the previous statement. They're not the only reason I support them. However, my full reasons would go beyond the scope of a single post, so I'm just going to argue from the perspective of queer rights today.

First of all: I do understand the pro-Palestine arguement that them not being gay friendly is no reason for them to die or to not have self-determination. However, the important fact that is often being left out in pro-Palestinian advocacy is that they don't actually want self-determination, or at least don't want to stop there. They want Israel gone. Either by outright destroying it, or by undoing its Jewish majority through a "right-of-return", which would at the very least make your country in its current form cease to exist. Both would mean the only place in the Middle East that supports LGBT rights would be gone. And it's a very legit reason as a LGBT person to want the only country in the region that supports us to continue existing.

I do support Palestinian statehood if they agree to be peaceful neighbors, but not at the expense of another, functioning, country.

It's also a legit reason to support them in the war against Hamas. For the unlikely possibility that Hamas (and Islamism in general) should be victorious: They'd try to spread their hateful ideology in Europe next. So I see LGBT rights (and human rights in general) as part of what's at stake in the current fighting.

I also call bullshit on the pink washing accusations. I've made a full post on why I think the "pinkwashing" accusation is slander, so just a short re-hash: Israel supports LGBT rights, independently of the Israel-Palestine conflict. It's evident by the fact that human rights in general are respected, including the rights of women, of ethnic minorities.... Heck, even their own Palestinian minority enjoys equal rights. However, the narrative of an Israel that supports human rights doesn't fit the pro-Palestinian narrative. Because then their enemies might have to admit that Palestinians are themselves to blame for their pleight. That they're under occupation because they're dangerous, and not because Israel is a human rights abuser.

There are also two frequent arguements that people bring up as to why "Israel is not as gay friendly as it presents itself". 1) That there's homophobia in the country, and 2) That same-sex marriage isn't legal. And I'll defend them against both, because the first is completely dishonest, and the second is a half-fact.

The first one is a strawman arguement, because there's homophobia in every country. In my country, France, you could have a normal life as an LGBT person if you live in the big, secular cities, like Paris, but would face homophobia if you went to more rural and/or religious communities. And the same holds true for every country in the world: There are accepting places (mostly big cities), and less accepting places. Same in Israel. That doesn't lessen the fact that it respects queer rights.

And the second is a half-fact, because I know same-sex marriage might not be performed, but I know that it's recognized. I also know that civil marriage can generally only be recognized in Israel, and not performed. That performing marriage is limited to religious authorities, and that this also causes problems for opposite sex couples. Meaning this is barely an LGBT issue, but rather a problem of a lack of seperation between church and state. It doesn't change the fact that gay marriage both is legal and exists within their borders.

And at the end of the day I can admit that there's room for improvement. It's never wrong to fight homophobia within your own borders, and I'd love to celebrate that Israel performs same-sex marriage some day. But this doesn't change the fact that your reputation as gay friendly is legit, and not just propaganda as your enemies will claim.

So yes, these are my reasons, from an LGBT perspective, why I support Israel. I hope this can be a drop in the ocean of queer people and orginizations who publically oppose you.

I've been reading some Transformers Prime fics (despite not having watched the show just yet lol, I'm planning though!!) and I've come across some interesting crossovers with media I never expected to do a TF crossover with: My Little Pony, Tales of Arcadia, Demon Slayer, FRICKING WINNIE THE POOH??!!-I swear the last one is legit I stumbled a fic about it-, and so on.

And the ones I've read have been very cool, but like, I'm just sitting here thinking like...

Why hasn't anybody done a crossover of Generator Rex and Transformers Prime yet?????

THE POTENTIAL IT COULD BE!!!!!!

Again, forgive me if I have anything wrong about both shows (need to re-watch/start watching them), but here me out!!

-Rough Plot-

*Imagine in a mission against the Pack, Breach or like in the Ben 10/Generator Rex crossover, a rupture in time and space opens or Breach's portal is different than the other ones and sucks in Rex and Dr. Holiday (she was in battle to help out since this would take place after Black Knight took control over Providence) causing them to end up in the Transformers Prime Universe

*Team Prime are fighting against the Decepticons during a mission and it looks like the Decepticons are winning, even taking a human hostage that maybe stumbled the area (it could be Miko since she wanted to get up close to see the battle) when suddenly a portal opens up that isn't a ground/space bridge and Rex suddenly pops out of it and analyzing the battle quickly he understands the Decepticons are the bad guys and just gives a massive punch to Megatron and starts fighting the Cons, while Dr. Holiday helps out Miko to get away from the battle to safety

*The Autobots/Decepticons are just shock to like seeing a human that's capable of creating machines/technology out of his body since they never had seen that before, until they recover their senses and continue fighting, with Rex helping the Autobots, making them the winners of the fight.

*Team Prime is still in shock after what just happened but Optimus decides it's best if they invite Rex and Dr. Holiday to the base to protect them against the Decepticons since clearly they would be hunted down by them for the events.

*Somehow along the way turns out that Van Kleiss and the Pack got transported to the TFP universe too (a random rupture in space/time or in purpose with one of Breach's portals), and Van Kleiss decides to make an alliance with Megatron to get what they both want, Van Kleiss even supplying the weaknesses he knows about Rex and creating an army of Evos to assist (obviously they want to backstab each other but I think it's very clear that given who I'm talking about here lol)

*Meanwhile in Rex's universe Six would try to bring back Dr. Holiday and Rex back home with the assistance of Salazar, even if he doesn't like him that much, he's the only scientist that can help him find them (even if Salazar works with Providence but shhh lol). Dr. Holiday would try to work to get a way back home too from her side of the universe.

*I think at one point Van Kleiss would turn one of the kids (Miko, Jack or Raf) into an Evo to cause a punch in the gut for Rex/Team Prime and make it difficult to stop them.

*Blah blah blah more fights happen, Megatron and Van Kleiss are defeated, Six managed to open a portal and Rex and Dr. Holiday are back home.

-Extra Info-

*If I remember correctly Rex is able to understand Evos through his nanites, but he also understood machines if I remember correctly?? If that's true then I have this idea that Rex could be able to understand Bumblebee perfectly with the beeps and noises (which Bumblebee would almost crush Rex in a tight hug to know that another "human" besides Raf can understand him)

*I think the Decepticons would be (depending on who are we talking about specifically) a little bit creeped out at th Pack and the Evos since in the first place they don't like organics that much and then seeing this mutations of them would definitely not help out (Megatron would be like "this is gross, but it's also very useful so I take it")

*The reason I'm making Dr. Holiday be transported with Rex to TFP instead of Six is because 1) Holiday is super super cool and deserves more recognition and be in more missions 2) I think Rex could get injured quite a lot in his missions with the Autobots so Holiday being there would help him out heal better and keep track of his nanites activity. And 3) Because I think Dr. Holiday and Ratchet would get along well since I think they're very similar in a lot of things and since Holiday would be at the base in case of an emergency and to also learn about Cybertronian biology they would have the time to know each other and bond over their experiences as medics and the responsible ones of their teams, and I think Holiday could teach Ratchet some human biology in case the kids ever needed assistance.

*Miko and Rex would get along the most since they're both pretty chaotic and quite troublemakers, but Rex would also get along well with Jack and Raf since it would remind him of his friends back home.

*I think the Autobots would get quite a shock to hear all about the situation at Rex's world: from the explosion of the nanites reactor, Rex's amnesia, the Evos, Providence and stuff like that (I also think they would get worried about Rex's whole life since by the sounds of it he has been through a lot and they're right lol)

*When Six manages to come to the TFP universe the Autobots are once again quite in shock to seeing a human with such amazing skills and not even having any mutations or abilities for them! And they would also freak out about Bobo because he's a talking monkey lolol

A few days ago I responded to an ask, explaining that Korean K-pop stans overall are the more intense version of whatever you see on the international side, and that one way k-fans perceive international fans is that international k-pop stans are easier to manipulate and rile up.

For anyone who is aware of the subway scare and the supposed link to ARMY and BTS, pay very close attention to what’s happening right now as a case study demonstrating what I wrote, happening in real time.

As a quick overview:

1 - This happened about an hour before Yoongi’s live where he showed his tattoo

2 - About an hour after this happened, an ARMY coming back from Yoongi’s concert, watching his livestream on their way home, reacts to his tattoo by screaming while in the subway. They record themselves and post the video on Twitter. The tweet itself is deleted now so I can’t link it, but I’ll link the OG video in point 5.

3 - After that ARMY posted their reaction to Yoongi’s tattoo, this Korean k-pop stan claims a fan screamed next to them on the train and caused panic and a stampede. This account’s most recent activity is from 2022, but the first thing they tweet in 2023 is that an ARMY caused a stampede because of Yoongi. Okay.

4 - One of the followers of that account then retweets that account to post an edited version of the ARMY reaction video, blurring out the reaction on the train, and further linking the two events (1) an ARMY screaming about Yoongi, (2) a resulting stampede that needed police intervention. This video is then used as the basis for user posts and articles written on k-blogs which then get translated as user posts on Allkpop and Pannchoa.

5 - For reference, this is the OG video from that ARMY showing what actually happened on the train. Note how there’s no panic in the train.

Basically, two events separated by about an hour are conflated on purpose by linked anonymous accounts on the Korean side, quickly translated into English and spread on the international side through k-pop gossip blogs like Allkpop, which Korean soft media (blogs etc) then picks up and takes as further credit to the underlying claims, though those claims are false.

And voila, a scandal is born.

Now, this isn’t to say BTS, ARMY, and people affiliated with them never do anything wrong and can never have a legit scandal. Occasionally, some of you might’ve seen me write about ‘manufactured controversy’ before, usually in passing when discussing something else. I remember I’ve mentioned it a few times such as during Jimin’s missed insurance payments scandal, during Jungkook’s Itaewon scandal, and also Min Heejin re: NewJeans (after just 5 minutes of looking at the original claims in Korean. The only thing holding the majority of the claims against MHJ together is sheer willpower and vibes atp). Someone has also asked me about hate ‘slave rooms’ before (context was Twice attacked by slave room hate) and I responded that hate in Korea towards people in the k-pop industry, is incredibly organized and insidious. And the bigger the target, the bigger the fall and the bigger the payout.

Please keep that in mind when you read shit online. Keep your eyes open and your wits about you. Become more media literate and learn how to think for yourself. Seriously. Because in this machine called k-pop, nearly everything about it is designed to suck you in till you have no idea which way is up. Pay attention, please.

I might probably be wrong, but I legit feel like YA's have become more one note ever since the genre became more mainstream. Not saying all modern YA is bad, or that all old YA is good, but if I look at some pre-mainstream popularity YA and post-popularity YA, especially recent years, it really feels like the amount of mainstream YA has definitely decreased in quality. Especially when it comes to trad publishing just going with what's safe, so they re-publish the same story by different authors.

Uh... I think I read a few YA novels in the 90s when they were forced on me, and they were teen problem novels that I never enjoyed.

So if you mean that the flood of no-good Hunger Games wannabes like Divergent were different from how "Young Adult" was being used long prior to the 00s /10s boom, I agree...

Millie said at a con that they told her to stop spreading rumors that it will happen (and that if she wrote the show she would have Mike and Will get together, but she doesn't write the show unfortunately)

the Stranger Things subreddit censors everyone who talks about Byler or says Mike is gay/bi, and I believe that subreddit is run by the show/netflix because it was created before the show even aired

Noah said he doesn't think Mike likes Will back

But at the same time, Finn dodges the question of whether Mike likes Will back, and instead said you have to watch the show to find out

The show's social media has also promoted Mike and Will like they're a couple, when they're not a couple in the show. So I suspect this show is queerbaiting and people might be disappointed when season 5 comes out.

The actors act coy about Byler and are told to stop talking about it. The show itself promotes Byler and treats it like a legit couple. And your conclusion from this is that it's not going to happen?

Friend, I think you need to re-read your own points here because it's a lot more in favor than it is against. It would indeed be queerbaiting if Byler doesn't happen, and that's entirely because it all seems to be pointing towards it happening in the first place.

The Stranger Things Reddit has nothing to do with the writers. I can't stress this enough. Posts are removed because it has an automoderator feature that will delete posts that are reported enough times. It's easy enough to look at the like/dislike count of posts there to see what sort of people have an iron grip there. It's the major flaw in the Reddit model, making it an echo chamber that doesn't allow for any opinions that the majority doesn't agree with. People post about Byler, and the anti-Byler crowd just mass-reports the post until it comes down.

Stay off Reddit.

Oh, and Noah denied Will being gay prior to season 4, too, preferring to just say it was "open to interpretation."

Re: parliament vote, Thomas revealed, Markle setting him up.

I think the 3 things are 3 sides of the same triangle. This is my theory. 

I don’t think Markle needed to set her father up per se since all 3, Thomas, Doria AND Meghan, were using the same pap in the 205-2018 period. 

However, I firmly believe that she ghosted her father a long time before the wedding, but either he wasn’t getting the hint or he was saw a chance to make some money/ sell a recrafted image because he saw that Doria was making her own papstrolls without a peep from Markle.

Doria is excluded from being media revealed because Markle seeded the R card so the media will never reveal Doria or at the very least proceed with extreme caution. 

So Markle knows Thomas is a staged papstroll, but can’t tell the royals the truth. Or even if she did set him up, the pictures were very clearly staged and everyone knew it except the royals who inexplicably believed her explanations when she was clearly ( allegedly) lying on many different things especially involving media. 

Having ( allegedly)  dropped Thomas, she had no legit way to make it public without looking like a cold so and so. 

And perhaps you are correct with your theory that the plan involved some sort of very public fakery to allow him to decline his invitation publicly.

Either way, the media revelation of the staged pap photos was the golden ticket that fell into all their laps. 

Most of the public don’t follow the royals like we do ie they don’t know enough to see that she lied and then used a very feeble excuse to drop him. They don’t see that Doria was doing the same yet remains unscathed, that Markle wished to drop Thomas long before the wedding, if she hadn’t done so already.  

The first they know about any of this is the media revelation. Which the media AND all Markles pretend to be SHOCKED that he was staging pics when it was pretty obvious at the time of publication to everyone that they were staged. 

In comparison, imagine media outing Meghan’s carpark papstrolls framed as SHOCKED to find that they were staged. 

And this revelation is the perfect opportunity for all parties to withdraw. 

I think what was shocking for Thomas was finally facing the fact that his beloved, favourite daughter really had ghosted him and that’s what drove him to hospital. 

It took many months for it to finally sink in and that’s why he kept trying to contact her though his only route was via the media as she wasn’t responding privately. 

Going by Thomas Jnr’s social media, it’s finally sank in and he is done with her.

This is also why I think the Samantha Markle v. Meghan Markle lawsuit is going to be very interesting. If it goes to trial (and right now, that’s up in the air since there are rumors that WME is pressuring Meghan to settle), the mud is going to fly - Samantha will try to ruin Meghan, Harry, and Doria down; Meghan will try to ruin Samantha, Thomas, and Thomas Jr.; and both of them will tell on themselves. I would think the HPSC had Hawks working on his reputation during what would be his school years (idk if he went to actual school or the HPSC kept him close) and as soon as he "graduated" threw him into the high top 50. Maybe not 10, I think people would give it the side eye unless they compare him to Yagi, but maybe 20s-30s. Maybe they had him be flashy and taking on missions that have eyes on them or, like the yakuzq arc, taking major credit for a undercover op/secret mission. I can only 💭 1

Okay so re: age and rank:

We know Hawks is canonically the youngest Pro Hero to make Top 10. That's Canon.

But we have a range for how old he is because we know so much of Endeavor. Endeavor reached the #2 spot at the age of 20.

For Hawks to break this record, he has to be either 18 or 19 when he makes it to the top 10. Considering the rankings seem to come out around the end/beginning of the year and Hawks' birthday is in December and he wouldn't be eligible until he's a Pro Hero which would be bare minimum 18 and there's no way in hell they'll give the Top 10 spot to a guy who's been working there for like two weeks.

It's likely that Hawks is just barely 19 when he's tossed in the Top 10.

(Ofc this is assuming his listed birthday is the one they're going with and they didn't lie and say he was born in March and he's technically been doing Hero work since he was 17. Which.... isn't out of character for the Commission, but it's extra complicated. But also who fucking knows what Hawks' actual birthday is because he doesn't have a legit birth certificate and by fuck you know his parents won't know the exact day).

From what we can tell re: Schooling it seems the Commission just kinda kept him nearby and trained him themselves. He /might've/ had some internships or something like actual Hero Students do, but it's likely that they were only with Commission Approved Heroes™.

Out of Canon characters I think it's low-key implied that he trained with Lady Nagant before she snapped, though idk the exact timeline and how that overlapped and if he would've been old enough to be in the field with her publicly before the snap happened.

And then yeah once he's in the field on his own, they toss high-profile cases at him that they'd usually hand off to the Heroes who more genuinely earned high rankings, so it'll get a lot of attention in the media especially when it's some rookie saving the day! Thankfully it's not all show because Hawks can put his money where his mouth is and actually do the work.

Bonus points for Hawks being charismatic and also pretty so that shot his popularity up too.
