Children of the Triforce: Retold - A Zelink Fanfic
I really don't promote my fics on here as much as I should, so here goes nothing! 😂 I've released ten chapters for this fic of mine, in which Link and Zelda's daughter becomes corrupted under the influence of the Triforce. It features a lot of family drama and angst, and updates every other week. Feel free to take a look :)

I just got done watching a playthrough of the 1st Legend of Zelda. And when I take Ocarina of Time and bit of Skyward Sword into account, it makes the setting much sadder with these details.
Every resident you encountered, minus the Great Fairies, live in caves or hidden passages within shrubs and dungeons. Bomb sellers practically get trapped in dungeons.
The economy crashed leaving 1 and 5 type Rupees the only cash available. 10, 50 and 100 Rupees no longer exist or can be made.
The Moblins whose homes you break into are probably rogues not with Ganon and are bribing you to keep their location quiet. There are also starving Moblins in some dungeons which means even they suffer under Ganon's rule. Especially since Enemy Bait works on normal enemy Moblins than other monsters.
Money is valued to the point that you can't get clues or even pass certain places. In the Second Quest, there's an old man who requires you to give up a Life Container or 50 Rupees. Literally says: Your life or your money.
The Lost Woods look...dead. Even if it's just graphics for that era, the trees look like they're dying alongside being sparse.
Fairies can only be found by defeated enemies except for the rare Fairy Spring. Nearly every fairy had been captured and held prisoner by monsters.
Zoras evolved to become monstrous just to survive. This trait being more recessive and altered for BotW Zoras as they now represent different species of aquatic life.
Dragons become hostile as most dungeon bosses are a draconic species. Something made sadder if you read the OOT comic or played Skyward Sword.
Even though Gorons aren't a concept at that time... The thought of Goron genocide lingers in my mind. Ganon's lair is found near Death Mountain and a shit ton of graves near said area. Twilight Princess had such occurrences with the Twili and Gerudo for Arbiter's Grounds alongside the Oocca in City in the Sky.
The Triforce of Wisdom was torn into pieces and Zelda put into a magical sleep. You don't get Courage until the second game. Mask/Time(OoT Link) had it on him...so what happened to him exactly (other than death)? I think I just made the context for Dark Link in the sequel more fucked up. 😶
But yeah. This is some sad shit with the timeline context. Now for stuff outside of angst.
Hyrule (this game's Link) acquires magic rings that boosts his durability. One can be bought and the other found in a dungeon.
Immediately can do sword beams at full health without the Master Sword.
Rupees serve as arrowheads cause when you use the arrows, your rupees drop with each shot.
Acquires a magic wand which can be enhanced to create flames via magic book. That means the wands/rods had upgrade potential which is probably something rarely seen for weapons in a Zelda game.
Gambling. Hyrule has gambled before for cash.
There are pocket watches capable of stopping time and recorders/flutes that can warp you to different dungeons or reveal hidden places.
And that's all I can list really. It does give me better context when I get to writing Hyrule's character. As for who I watched involving this playthrough, it was HCBailley here. Pretty entertaining and has a lot of info on hidden secrets or easter eggs for the game.
Until next time folks, I'll see you back in Hyrule!

Legends, Now and Forever (Chapter 1)
The Boy in Green
Once, there was a boy born of the forest. The song of birds was his first lullaby, their warbling tune welcoming him as the leaves unfolded from his ears. The dancing pollen covered him in his first blanket, and the dew of morning opened his softwood eyes to the world. In this clearing where dwelled the oldest of trees, the forest child rose from the land itself, green and new to this cycle of time.
The boy rose slowly from his bed of leaves and pollen, taking his first steps in a body he barely understood. Every step felt strange and frightening, but he soon came to realize that this was merely the shock of being uprooted. He was no longer like the other trees, although he still felt a kinship with them. In spite of the strangeness, it did not take long before he was walking with freedom, leaping through the clearing, climbing the branches and boughs of his brothers and sisters. It was during such a climb that the boy stumbled upon the wizened face of an ancient oak, the face of Old Man Deku.
Ah, so thou art finally awake, young one, said the oak, his words a symphony of creaks and groans. It would seem the time of darkness draws nigh. Alas, thou art not fully grown and ready to meet thy destiny. Thou must stay in the deep woods for a time, for it is dangerous to go alone into this world.
The boy struggled to make sense of such cryptic wisdom. He knew nothing of the world beyond this wooded glade, and what’s more, he could not utter the questions that grew within his mind. His cedar lips were too new, glistening with fresh wax, and he had yet to learn the ways of deep speech from Old Man Deku.
An oaken mouth smiled under tangled moss. Do not fret, young one. I have seen many cycles of this world come and go, and I can see the innocence in thine eyes. All shall be explained in time.
And so the Deku Tree told the boy of this land and the beginning of all things. He told the tale of three goddesses in one, who once descended upon a dark world and gave birth to light. He spoke in reverence of the mountain lord, a mysterious guardian who kept watch over the source of all light. And when the blood moon appeared in the nights that followed, the old oak would speak in hushed, cautious tones of the darkness that lurked beneath the world, filled with malice against all creatures of the light.
As the Deku Tree imparted his wisdom to the forest child, a wondrous thing took place. The boy grew stronger, his once willowy arms and legs now tough as layered bark. His hair grew longer, tiny shoots of green turning to gold under the noon day sun, shining like the wheat of a bountiful harvest. As the sun and moon wheeled through the sky, the child soon became a man, handsome and vigorous as the forest itself.
Such a change did not go unnoticed by his guardian, who could sense the unrest growing within the young man’s soul. He was not rooted like his brothers and sisters. He would not remain in this place, like the wise old tree that had given him so much knowledge. Although it pained Old Man Deku, he knew it was time for the boy to venture beyond these woods. He knew the destiny of such a one would not abide a peaceful existence, and so he called upon his son to heed his words one last time.
Thou hast learned well, young one, and thou hast grown into a fine man of earth and water. The old tree paused, hesitant to continue, heartbroken by the necessity of letting go. However, thou cannot remain. We feel a cold wind blowing through our leaves. Darkness will soon descend upon this realm, and thou must seek the mountain lord. Only then will light prevail.
A gathering of roots lifted from the forest bed, fashioning a pommel of guardian acorns, a hilt of hickory wood, and a blade of leaf and thorn.
Take this sword, so thou may seal the darkness and protect the light.
The boy stepped forward, plucking the sword from its growing place. He admired the blue light coursing through the evergreen blade, even as a gust of wind enveloped him, wrapping his naked body in a tunic of emerald and white. Once clothed, he glanced down at his legs and feet, now entangled in leather straps and padded sandals.
Take this tunic, so thou may walk amongst the people of this world and accept their aid.
And so, having bestowed his wisdom and these gifts upon the youth, Old Man Deku bid farewell to his beloved son, beseeching him to seek the mountain lord.
Although a part of the boy was sad to leave his family behind, he could feel his body tremble with excitement as he left the forest behind. Even as he struggled to climb a distant hill or shivered under the mercy of an evening wind, he would often marvel at this vast world waiting to be explored. And oh, the creatures! As he traveled the long road to the mountain lord, the forest boy was eager to learn the names of such wondrous beasts: bears and wolves, horses and sand seals. Gorons often traveled the same road, seeking precious gemstones for their tribe, and he would watch the Zora warriors swim downstream at night, protecting their homes from predators unseen. Then there were the fairies, the most beautiful creatures he had seen thus far, who were just as eager to teach him their language and the names of wild things.
While he witnessed the struggles of life all around him, there was so much light in this world that the forest boy would wonder if the old oak had spoken true. Could such malicious darkness truly exist? It was during these moments of doubt, however, when the boy would remind himself of all he had learned since springing from the earth. Surely, there was more to this world than he could ever imagine.
And there was certainly more beauty than that possessed by the fairies, a truth which he soon discovered upon reaching the Spring of Wisdom.
The boy came upon the spring during a warm summer night. Having restored his energy in the light of the setting sun, he ventured into the mountains in search of clean water. It was there that he happened upon the endless fountain, once touched by the goddess Nayru herself. The spring appeared empty save for a lonely statue keeping watch over this sacred place. As he moved deeper into the hidden grotto, however, a sweet song fell upon his ears.
It was a different kind of lullaby, more ancient and alive than any music he had ever before encountered. Every note echoed from the walls of stone, all of the passion of that pleasing voice captured in this small, secluded space. The boy wondered if such a sound could be made by mortal lips, or if the goddess of love had once more returned to this place.
And when he saw the maiden in blue, he knew both notions were equally true.
Kneeling before the spring of wisdom, the maiden tended to her long, flowing hair. She brushed the locks until they glittered gold in the light of the sacred pool. She cupped the waters in the palm of her hand, lifting the liquid on high and slipping pale fingers through every strand. A sapphire gown clung to her body like the river itself, and none of the maiden’s majesty was lost as spring water soaked the garment through and through.
As the maiden in blue lowered herself into the spring, lifting the corners of her gown, the boy in green felt another change come over him. He did not wish to leave the presence of such a gorgeous woman, but something deep inside told him it was wrong to watch her from the shadows. He had greeted all others in the light, and it was only right that he should make himself known.
And so the boy made his way to the edge of the spring, careful in his movements so as not to frighten the girl. When she caught sight of the forest boy, the maiden turned in surprise, but there was no fear in her eyes. There was only curiosity, a pull of destiny perhaps, but nothing of dread could be felt between the two. And the longer they stared at one another, the more their souls became entangled in that mysterious energy known as love.
“Hello there,” said the maiden, her speech as beautiful as her song. “I am Zelda, princess of these lands. Who might you be?”
The boy would answer her in time, but in that moment, he realized the world was stranger and far more complicated than the stories told by his guardian. Why had Old Man Deku never spoken of this beautiful princess and her kingdom? Why, oh why had the wise one praised the light while keeping him in the shadows?
He did not know it then, but in that moment, a shred of darkness had entered the heart of the boy in green.
Next... The girl in blue...
