The Community Centre was built in 1990 as a sports/function hall and is used for many different activities through out the week.
Both the hall and committee room are popular locations for private functions as they have a fully equipped kitchen plus a fully licensed bar located in the committee room. The hall can cater for up to 100 people at one time plus all is wheel chair friendly.
It hosts Archery Club, Playgroup, Yoga & Friendship Club as well as hosting regular football.
Outside the centre has a large car-park, a kiddies play-area, a table tennis table plus a football and cricket pitch with pavilion. There is also a purpose built tennis wall and basket ball practise area.
Also outside is a BBQ that anyone can use. You will have to provide fuel and tools - leave the BBQ as you would wish to find it.
The field is hired out for many car-boot sales throughout the year. They are extremely well supported as there are so many facilities on site.
Legbourne is a village and civil parish in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England, about 3 miles south-east of the town of Louth.

A Story of Flats... Mud and Tyres
Itโs a boiling hot weekend so I decided to go to the Lincolnshire wolds and the seaside. After a rather tiring trip with several small traffic jams we arrived at our first wild camp spot for the night; a small car park at Legbourne Woods.ย
First stop Saturday morning was at the Galley Hill Farm PYO where we eagerly gathered two punnets of delicious strawberries and paid significantly lessย than at a supermarket.ย
The farmer (above) ย was a very jovial man - sort of like the Father Christmas of farmers. We asked him whether the publicโs perception of farming being hard work is true. Interestingly, he replied that there are long hours but these days, things are not as hands on as they used to be plus now, machinery can do so much more for you. In fact he made it sound as if it was pretty easy - though iโm quite sure this is all down to a matter of perspective!
He also has a small campsite there which really was idyllic. It consisted of small hard standing pitches distributed throughout delightful woodland - in fact I think its the most idyllic setting for a campsite Iโve come across.
Then it was off to the car park at Moggs Eye. I had done some research about these beach front car parks and to my horror, had discovered that they all have height barriers and large signage saying โNo overnight parking'ย
Thankfully, when we arrived at the car park there were a handful of spots this side of the height barriers where you could leave a high vehicle.ย
We spent a lovely morning on the beach which was pretty quiet. Then we went to Farmer Brownsย ice cream parlour. I have to say I thought Mr Moos in Yorkshire is better but this wasnโt at all bad.ย
We made a flying visit to Mablethorpe where its hot, sweaty and noisy throng quickly proved unbearable. Halfย an hour in the amusements and a couple of fairgrounds rides later we headed back to the van in search of a spot for the night. I had worked or that there was a nature reserve to the north of Mablethorpe, with several car parks at various locations so I started scoping them out. Whilst there were no height barriers there were, disappointingly โno overnightingโ signs. Since when have nature reserves not been a 24 hour existence?! The night noises and animals are often a stark contrast to those of the day and still as interesting and enjoyable. Why can I not lie in my camper and listen to the noises of the night at a nature reserve!?
Unperturbed, I managed to get us into one without Florence noticing the โno overnightingโ signage. After a small walk we decided to check out a couple more car parks that were only a few minutes drive away. In the end we opted for the Saltfleet car park at the northern end of the SSSI.ย
This is a strange place. When you leave the car park and walk over the top of the smallish dunes in front of you, you are faced with a vast, beachy swathe of sand and in the far distance you can see the sea. As you saunter on towards the water, theย โswathe of golden sandโ turns into something far more interesting - mud flats and salt marshes!
The day has been a very hot one and sections of mud have broken up to form interesting patterns like fallen petals, in the way that only a mix of earth and water can.
There were some other cars there and lots of children so Florence soon got down to making friends. As the evening waned, most vehicles disappeared apart from the group of four cars who had arrived with a fleet of children - now โFlorence Friendsโ - who were also staying the night! They startedย pitching tents at the front of the small car park and being generally very efficient as BBQโs, huge drums of water and in fact even a washing up bowl, appeared from one of the four boots.ย We decided to stay anyway as Florence was having a good time.
ย As the night was balmy I decided that I would attempt to spendย the night on the beach in a sleeping bag. It was nearly 25 yars ago to the day when I last stayed up all night along this stretch of coast. It was for the Summer Solstice and some of the people who i was with then, are no longer here. Thus it seemed apt that i should at least stay on the beach on this especially warm and welcoming night so close to the Solstice. The other two decided this wasnโt for them so I settled down, starting up at the stars and fell asleep. I awoke around 2am with the thought that Matt would probably not think to turn off the fridge overnight- it was running off the gas and I have always been conscious of carbon monoxide poisoning. There is a detector in my van and Iโve never heard it go off and so wasnt 100% confident that it worked. I decided to traipse back down the beach with my stuff and get back in the van. The fridgeย was on, so I popped it off and snuck into bed.
Now the evening before, I had noticed that the Dโs rear passenger side tyre had looked a little low so i had pumped it up. This morning, its state was much worse. Not totally flat but a pressure of 18psi instead 50psi wasnโt good.ย
Thus the internal dialogue starts. Do I spend time trying to get those darn nuts off the wheel? Or, just cave in and phone the breakdown person and accept that I may have to hang around for a while waiting? I tentatively tested out whether Matt was up to helping as DIY and mechanical type things are totally not his thing.
I decided to give it a bash and got my underslung spare off with no problems and found that all was well with it. Feeling encouraged, Matt and I turned our hands to the wheel nuts - where it quickly became apparent that they werenโt budging. I was just about to phone the breakdown service when one of the men from our overnight neighbours came over and offered us his longer tyre arm - which worked!. After a quick google to check exactly where the jacking points are on the T4, the tyre was quickly replaced. I have a screw in the middle of the one we removed and hope that I can get it fixed. This is a brand new tyre Iโve just had replaced for the MOT! Thatโs sods law I guessโฆ
We then made a visit to Wragby Maze - another nice little attraction that feels like the product of a single family, or even perhaps a single person. Oddly, another Father Christmas type character manned the desk. The day was hot and our urge to move was at a minimum but we successfully navigated the mazes and had a small game of putting.
Our grand finale to this weekend was a Father Day visit to Wild Pines Parkย . I have only ever been to a couple of โGo Apesโ before, but this is much better. Set among quite dense woodland you find a series of scout huts. As you scan the trees you start to pick out all sorts of platforms and obstacles. We all started off gleefully but about half way round,ย โthe fearโ started in Florence. An hour of encouragement got her slowly across several more platforms but in the end, they had to bring a ladder to get her down - this was probably much to the relief of the people behind us who were now on their second turn around. The kindness and patience shown by the staff here was second to none and this treetop obstacle course is far superior to Go Ape - whats more there is free, coffee, tea and water on tap! Highly recommended!
There was one final mini surprise. On our way back, as we were around Newark I spotted what I think were probably the Red Arrows - a number of planes flying in close formation. I awoke the now-sleeping Florence to say - โLook Florence the Red Arrows, you dont see them very often and they usually have different coloured smoke coming out of themโ. As if by magic, they all put their smoke on for a brief parting puff as they sped away. I assume they may have just finished their show or were perhaps on their way back from further afield and were periodically giving us all a hazy wave!
