[holding 9-1-1 fandom gently by the face] i need you all to understand that Eddie saying Buck should get custody if Christopher if Eddie dies does not make Buck Chris's legal guardian. That requires a shitton of paperwork and lawyer hours and a court order of some kind and usually a hearing. You can't just do it without the guardian knowing about it.

There's a post about like being in the B plot of a sitcom and the only phrase I remember is "a bird is very here" but today I feel like I was a sitcom B plot Which is a long way to say I just got a new bottle of vitamin D3, opened it, and it smelled like rotting meat???? And when I called the company's customer service number to try to get a refund, there was pushback about me identifying the smell of rotten meat correctly*??? Up until the customer service representative said "each batch can have a distinctive scent based on the source, like when we use lanolin" and I said "lanolin is not listed anywhere on the ingredients of this product" and then I was suddenly good to get a refund So yeah anyone have any recommendations for good vitamin brands? I don't think I want to go back to the rotting meat secret lanolin D3 *with each new person I got passed along to I had to be more specific with my description of the smell to get them to understand I was not misidentifying it. Rotting meat is a very distinctive smell and I was VERY surprised to smell it from a bottle of supplements lol

nice to see Luz and Hunter are upholding the sibling tradition of the younger one copying everything the older one does. I mean, I’ve never personally wanted to die by a puritan tyrant before getting revived by someone who sacrificed their own life and get magical powers in the process, but to each their own

what is msmc? im kinda out of the loop
Huh, I guess we never really explained that too well in our intro post, did we. Welp! Doesn't hurt to educate the newbies.
According to the Lancer Core Rulebook, pg. 411:
"A pan-galactic mercenary organization known for its low rates, broad portfolio, and civic legitimization service, the Mirrorsmoke Mercenary Company (MSMC) is formally incorporated as a “grayspace” private military company. No job is too big or too small, as long as a Union state in good standing will call it legal."
In short, there are a whole bunch of mercenary companies scattered across the world of Lancer, and MSMC is one of the larger ones (referred to in the Core Rules as a "notable non-state actor" - i.e., a smaller company than the Big 4 and Union that is nevertheless widely known across the galaxy). Best known for its terrifying legal teams and reputation as the "garbage men of the galaxy", MSMC is the company you call when nobody else will do your job for you.
There are 999 mercenary squadrons employed under MSMC, each with a numerical designation and a few nicknames apiece. This blog catalogues the adventures of MSMC-796 "Heaven's Fury", consisting of the mercenaries Angel (that's me!), Slipshod, and Lockbreaker. By association, we've kind of become the de facto voice of MSMC among the Lancer community on Tumblr, though there are other MSMC-affiliated blogs out there if you poke around a bit.
As of our interactions with them, MSMC-796 has made good friends with a fanmade mercenary group known as CORSAIR Mercenary Company, or CMC (found at @corsair-mc-official). The Core Rules list a few other named mercenary companies from the world of Lancer, such as The Golden Hand and Goblin Throne Industrial (GTI), but to our current knowledge, neither of these companies have an official Omninet (that is, Tumblr) account just yet.
So yeah, that's us! Hopefully this helped explain some things.

A mobile notary is a notary public who travels to clients to perform notarial acts. Unlike traditional notaries who work from a fixed office location, mobile notaries bring their services to your doorstep.

I'm chewing on this and my thoughts aren't fully formulated yet but i have been having Thinking about and jgy and his definitions of harm and his moral framework and generally he seems to very much come down on the side of consequentialism- what with him considering himself as having "murdered" qin su when her death was unambiguously a suicide. But she killed herself because of things he did, so even if he never wanted her to die or took actions toward that, he considers himself as having killed her.
And yet every single time he is confronted about his actions, he is incredibly quick to emphasize that he had no choice, he didn't really want to, there was just no other way out. It's a complete 180 from the motive not mattering at all to it mattering a LOT.
And that has led me to me believe that when he's talking about his lack of choices he's- the uncharitable might call it lying for sympathy, but that's not it, jin guangyao does sincerely believe he had no other choice (except, as nmj so nicely put it, sacrificing himself) but he's also not defending himself with full sincerity. It's more that his motive doesn't really matter much to him as a matter of morality, but he knows it matters to other people. He is not genuinely defending himself and arguing he doesn't deserve blame, he is arguing he shouldn't be punished. There seems to be a very strict barrier in his mind between accountability in the moral sense (what does he hold blame for) and in accountability in the practical sense (What punishment should he get.)
Which makes perfect sense for a guy who is well aware that the justice system will never actually be just for him. That any punishment levied toards him within the legal and politcal system he lives in will primarily be because of who he is and who his mother was and not because of what he actually did. Yes he thinks what he did was wrong yes he thinks that is morally repugnant no he shouldn't get punished for it.
And well. I don't agree that people should just get away with mass murder because the judicial system sucks but... is he wrong? I mean, what did him in at the end? Payment for his actual crimes? No. It was a lie that was believed just because he was the one being accused.
