I love how men in Clamp's art style have the thinnest waistline known to man. Those men look like they always wear corsets. They have the waistline of a woman in a victorian pamphlet.

Drug and Drug: March Manga Madness Day 19
Day 19 of #MarchMangaMadness: Drug and Drop by CLAMP and published by Dark Horse If you’re confused about Legal Drug and Drug and Drop, don’t worry you’re not alone. I’ll definitely cover this more in-depth when I cover it in my CLAMP Reread series, but for now, I’ll share what I know. Legal Drug is the original story of Kazahaya and Rikuo working in a drug store and it originally ran from 2000…

FYI write for JJK with a female identifying perspective with no racial descriptors so all can enjoy but a lot of my fics and titles are inspired by hip hop lyrics or culture so very much black coded. If I decide to write black reader exclusively I will call it out. I tend to write girly, bimbo, mlif, tsundere or baddie readers but you might get a bit of everything tbh. no oc's—i use pet names like "bunny" instead of "y/n"

hi hi! Long time fan of your blog—and It’s really inspired me to write my own Bruno fic, any tips for a first time bruno writer?
HELLO!!! 💕
First of all, I just want to say thank you so much!!! Your kind words have made my day—no, my month. 😭🩷 AHHH I LOVE THIS QUESTION!!!
Tumblr media
Okay, so I have a big tip for writing Bruno, (or anyone, really,) and I learned it in Araki’s book, Manga in Theory and Practice. This is a technique he uses to make sure his characters are always acting “in-character.”
Every time Araki creates a new character, he fills out a character history sheet for them. It’s a basic sheet containing all sorts of important stuff such as their personality traits, dreams for the future, forming childhood experiences fears, etc., and he uses that sheet to figure out how his character would react to any given situation. In Manga in Theory and Practice, Araki includes a blank Character Sheet and an example of what a filled-out one may look like.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(this isn’t actually the original Dio character history sheet—Araki lost the OG. This version was made from memory. I don’t know if the original was actually this blank.)
Since Araki hasn’t released one for Bruno, I decided to make my own.
Tumblr media
(This image is huge. HUGE. 6232 x 5519px!! Unfortunately, tumblr compressed it so you can’t read all the tiny writing :( can you tell I was an overachiever in school? Here’s a link to the uncompressed photo in Google Drive!!)
You are welcome to use this sheet if you’d like! (Anyone reading this is free to use it.) This sheet contains canon information as well as my assumptions/headcanons since Araki hasn’t given any kind of answer to some of these questions. You don’t have to agree with them. After all, everyone has their own interpretation of Bruno Bucciarati—this is just the way I see him.
Here’s how my process goes: whenever I put Bruno into a situation where I’m not sure how he’s going to react, I consult the character history chart.
For instance: what if Bruno is in a situation where he catches reader smoking weed?
This is something I haven’t always been sure as to what he’d do—I’ve changed my opinion on this multiple times. Weed is legal in many places, after all. However, after looking at my filled-out character sheet, I now have a more solid idea of how he could react.
Canon information: Bruno’s dad (his only immediate family) became injured because he witnessed a drug deal. (Which ultimately led to his death.) The way Bruno sees it, drugs killed his father. He also can get very worked up over matters that are personal to him, such as when Diavolo attempted to kill Trish, or when he caught Passione peddling drugs.
Using this information, I believe that Bruno is probably going to be very angry at reader, even if it is legal nowadays. It wasn’t very legal in 2001, and Passione likely trafficked weed on top of everything else. Sure, weed isn’t cocaine, but it was still a very stigmatized drug at the time.
(so yeah. Bruno would not be very thrilled about my love for Mary Jane… I’d quit for him. Also, this is just my assumption—it’s okay if you don’t agree with me. There are infinite ways to interpret a character, and your opinion is just as valid as mine.)
My advice to you is to fill out your own character sheet! Here’s a version that has no headcanons/assumptions if that helps :) (Unless you want to use mine, lol. But I know my word isn’t gospel, and you likely have differing opinions on him.) If you want to reword it entirely, here’s a full-res blank version!
Another reason I recommend this because you’ll really get to study his character. Being forced to think about his strengths/weaknesses, forming experiences, the relationships he has with others, or hell, even where he was born can really help form an idea of the character you’re writing. Through this exercise, I feel like I’ve gotten closer to Bruno. When it’s a character you love, filling this out feels like you’re spending time with them.
I’d also like to note that this character history chart is ever-evolving. As I continue studying Bruno's character, my opinions and mental images of him become clearer. It feels like I'm a sculptor carving a statue out of marble, gaining a more defined picture with each detail I learn. The sheet above reflects my view of him at this current moment in time, and it will likely change in the future.
Another tip I have for you relates to writing his dialogue. Bruno can be a little weird. For instance, he often speaks quite eloquently:
Tumblr media
He’s very self-assured:
Tumblr media
But then, there’s moments like this:
Tumblr media
I recommend studying his speech patterns. Hell, I’m always learning more about the way he speaks.
I’ll leave you with this: In the end, there is no “right” or “wrong” way to write Bruno. How you write him is up to you, and your interpretation is just as valid as anyone else’s. Don’t worry about what others may think about your version of him—just do what feels right for you. Write Bruno the way you see fit. :)
I hope this helps!!!! Don’t forget to have fun. 💕
Tumblr media
thanks for the ask!! <3

At first sight Chapter Seventeen
(m!reader x Bonten!Haruchiyo Sanzu)
Fluff/slash/reader is male/cursing/BontenTimeline/drugs and alcohol mentioned/violence/blood/death
All characters that appeared in the Tokyo Revengers manga and anime belong to Ken Wakui.
Words: 3801
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Not even an hour had passed when several black cars drove up to the Uchiyama family's house and several dozen men who worked for Bonten entered.
You wouldn't be surprised to see Kisaki or Kakucho, but Takeomi... No, you were a little surprised to see the advisor. You were told that Sanzu and the two Haitanis were on their way.
You were sitting at the dining room table, holding a glass of cold water in your hands. Kisaki ordered Emiko to be taken to a car and taken to Bonten's hideout so he could interrogate her again later. You yourself were going to talk to the woman about your shared child. Yes, you took the woman's word that Yuuta was yours.
Yuuta, Yuu... Ryousuke Uchiyama. His nickname and your son's name were pure coincidence, or at least that's what you wanted to think. Up until now, you've never heard of any Yuu working for Bonten as a minor assassin.
You were tired of the whole situation, so you stared at the box with a dull look. After returning from the toilet, you opened it again and, with Emiko completely silent, you began to look through its contents. This way you found one and only photo of the boy. When you asked her if this was the last photo of Yuuta before she gave him to the orphanage, she nodded.
You reached into the box and pulled out the photo again. The boy had small bruises on one side of his face, but his pale pink lips were stretched into a sweet smile. There was a dimple in one of his cheeks, just like yours. Long eyelashes like Emiko's adorned the boy's eyes, which were the same color as yours, and single unruly strands of black hair stuck out to the sides. Yuuta seemed to be a small boy for his age, but you put it down to the way his mother took care of him.
You weren't able to get an answer out of her as to where exactly the boy went, but you decided to talk to her about it later... Provided, of course, that Mikey didn't kill her first.
Takeomi entered the room and sat down next to you at the table. He sighed heavily and lit a cigarette, taking a deep drag. You sat in silence for a few minutes, but you knew the man was watching you carefully.
“If I didn't see the resemblance between you and the boy in the photo, I'd say the bitch is screwing you over.” He said after a while, taking another drag on his cigarette.
“I don't know what would be better. The fact that I really have a child or that it's the most ordinary lie in the world.
Takeomi scratched his head, sitting more comfortably in his chair.
“Hmm. A lie would be the easiest.” He said after a moment, and you looked at him. Akashi's eyes stared into the distance. “I can't imagine what you're going through right now. I know you loved Emiko and wanted to start a family with her. Fuck, if she wanted to get rid of the baby, she could have found you and given it back to you. She knew exactly how much you wanted to have a child.”
“Weird, isn't it?” You laughed bitterly. “A thug like me…”
“No, no, no. Y/n. No.” The man shook his head and frowned. "Do not even think like that. This isn't weird at all. Many of us do not want to have children because we do not want to commit ourselves permanently and bear this burden, so to speak. You simply know how to separate your legal life from your criminal life. You have a gift for it and I'm sure the kid wouldn't even know what his old man was doing.”
“Hmm, maybe.” You stroked the photo with your thumb, bringing your gaze back to it.
“You want to find him.” Takeomi said after a while and took a drag from his cigarette. “There won't be any way to talk you out of it, right?”
“As long as he hasn't already gone to some family... I want him, Takeomi. I want to raise him.”
“Fuck…” He muttered, rubbing the back of his neck. “It's going to be hard, you know that, Y/n?”
“And wouldn't you want your own child back?”
“Just without those tricks, L/n.” He wagged his finger at you and sighed again. “I fucked up taking care of my younger siblings, I guess I'm not a good candidate for a father.”
“You were a child yourself then. People change."
“You tend to be more stubborn and a pain in the ass than Haruchiyo. You know about it?" The Bonten advisor grimaced and lit another cigarette.
"Thank you."
“It wasn't a compliment.” The other grunted coldly and turned towards the entrance to the dining room. “By the way, nice shit down there.”
“Yeah, nice.” You put Yuuta's photo in the box and put the lid on. You drank the rest of the water and pushed the empty glass away. “What did they do with those girls…”
“The boys found the cameras.” Takeomi said indifferently and licked his lips. “There will be a lot of material to watch.”
You looked at him with disgust. “Do you want to watch this? Isn't a fresh corpse enough for you?”
“Of course I don't want to. Who do you think I am?" The man was outraged.
“I'm sorry, I didn't mean it to sound like that.”
Akashi placed his hand on your shoulder and squeezed it lightly. “I know, I'm sorry too…”
He had barely finished speaking when you heard a noise in the hall. Quick footsteps were approaching and soon Sanzu ran into the dining room holding his katana. He looked at you with some madness in his eyes and opened his mouth to say something but gave up and continued his steps towards the basement.
Rindou followed closely behind, but Ran entered the dining room and nodded to you and Takeomi.
“Gentlemen.” He bowed his head slightly and looked in the direction his younger brother had gone. “Hanma was serious?”
“Depends on what he told you.” You grumbled, rubbing your face with your hand. God, you were so tired...
"Drugs, weapons cache... Torture chamber... Living dead..." Elder Haitani began to list and your stomach flipped at the memory of the poor girl. “Oh, sorry, Y/n. I didn't think you were that sensitive.”
“Why don't you go down there yourself and we'll see who's more sensitive, hmm?” Takeomi growled and Ran raised one eyebrow, the mischievous smirk disappearing from his handsome face.
“Is that bad?” He asked in a more serious tone. “I thought that psychopath was joking.”
Before either of you could say anything, you heard a loud thump like someone running up the stairs, a door banging off the wall, and the sound of puking.
“Rindou?” Ran asked loudly in concern, apparently recognizing the person just by the sounds of regurgitation. He moved quickly towards the toilet, and you heard snippets of conversation between the brothers.
“Huh. I lasted longer. I think I won.” You said in a flat tone and Takeomi snorted before taking a drag from his cigarette.
“We all won. Another unwanted trauma, but…” He pursed his lips and shrugged. “Maybe not Haru. His brain is being eaten away by drugs, so he probably won't be impressed by the sight.”
You immediately remembered how one time the pink-haired man told you what he did with Yasuhiro Muto, so you silently agreed with Akashi. You were willing to bet some amount of money that Sanzu wouldn't even have a nightmare anytime soon.
“Takeomi.” Kisaki appeared in the doorway with a straight face and the man sitting next to you rose from his chair and patted your shoulder.
“I will make sure you still have the opportunity to talk to Mrs. Uchiyama, but I make no promises.” He said quietly and followed the blonde out of the house.
You were left alone in the kitchen and stood up to pour yourself another glass of cold water. Personally, you would prefer something stronger, but you had to give it up for now. This was not the time or place to drink alcohol.
There were a lot of people from Bonten in the basement and throughout the house. They had to get everything from the basement warehouse as quickly as possible, you couldn't risk the police showing up. Akashi assured that your man at the station is trying to manage everything so that reports of suspicious activity do not get forward, but the risk was very high.
Rindou came into the kitchen, pale as a sheet, so you gave him a glass of water, which he accepted with relief. He drank the contents, then filled the glass again, and again. He leaned on the table and bowed his head.
“Fuck. What the fuck was going on here, Y/n?” He said quietly, not looking at you.
“That's what builds Bonten's reputation.”
“Not on this scale, for fuck's sake. Not on this scale.”
“There's nothing we can do about it now, Rindou. Where's Ran?"
“He went down to the basement, to Hanma and Sanzu. This motherfucker had a hysterical attack at the sight of the drugs stockpiled there. Like he won the fucking lottery.” Rindou rubbed his face with his hand and shook his head. “Do you know who that girl was?”
“No. She's in such a condition that only DNA tests will reveal her identity."
The younger Haitani was silent for a moment before he swallowed hard and looked up at you tiredly. “Or after getting the tattoo adjusted.”
You frowned. “Tattoo? Her body was covered with wounds, but I didn't see any..."
“Because they cut it off along with the skin. You can’t tell me you didn’t see the big wound on her chest.”
You froze and felt bile rise to your mouth. You actually noticed the wound, but you would never have thought that they had removed the tattoo...
“But how can you match a tattoo that is no longer there?”
“You didn't go deeper into the warehouse, did you?”
“No... Only for the weapon crates....”
“Next there were display cases.” He shook his head. “I understand that you didn't notice because the lights were off, but when Sanzu turned them on... Four display cases, almost covering the entire fucking wall... And in them there was an exhibition of pieces of human skin with tattoos.”
"Fuck..." You whispered, widening your eyes at the man.
“I want to burn this fucking house down and raze everything to the ground. We can lose our position because of such motherfuckers. The police will start snooping even harder.”
You nodded and headed out of the dining room, intending to go down to the basement again.
“Where are you going, Y/n?” Rindou asked worriedly as he followed you.
“Somewhere there are disks with recordings from cameras in the basement. We have to secure them. Otherwise they will fall into the wrong hands.” You explained and started walking down the stairs. The stench of decay was much stronger now, but you fought the urge to vomit.
“For fuck's sake... I'm coming with you.” Raindou growled dissatisfied and followed you.
You entered the torture chamber again and your eyes involuntarily moved to the corner where the dead girl's body was still lying. Someone had covered her with some kind of tarp, but her tiny foot was sticking out from underneath. You looked away and started searching the room with Rindou.
From the side of the warehouse, you heard Haruchiyo Sanzu's maniacal laughter. He was in seventh heaven, at least he was in an excellent mood. You slowly walked into the warehouse and saw the boys stuffing packets of drugs into their black sports bags, the pink-haired man tasting the white powder with a blissful look on his face. Ran had a white handkerchief pressed to his nose and mouth and with wide eyes he was looking at the tattoo display cases mentioned earlier by his younger brother, and Hanma was talking to someone on the phone. His voice expressed tension mixed with anxiety, but from the individual words you understood that he was talking to someone from the police.
Sanzu straightened up from the table he was leaning over and turned towards the entrance. He saw you and his lips stretched into a smile that reached his blue eyes.
“Y/n!” He spread his arms wide and scanned the room with a sparkling gaze, like a little child in a candy store. “Look at all this! Look what they stole from us!”
You slowly walked closer and the man wrapped you in a tight hug, laughing loudly and sincerely. “This is one of the best days of my fucking life!” He moved an arm's length away from you and placed both of his hands on your cheeks, cupping your face in a tender way. His voice was gentle and the smile never left his lips. “And it's all thanks to you, Y/n. You found the key and you found the passage.”
You were surprised by his tender gesture and maybe in other circumstances you would have submitted to him without a second thought, but... You looked into his dilated pupils and the man understood the silent hint. He smiled even wider, patted your face playfully and moved his hands to take the opened package of drugs.
“They also have LSD and other goods in liquid form. Few bottles. I bet they stole them from a drug lab. After all, these are samples for comparison. They still have the labels.” He sighed and put the package into a black bag. “All worth millions. Millions!”
“I'm glad I pleased you…” You said softly and bit the inside of your cheek lightly. “We need to take everything away as quickly as possible…”
"I know." He sounded slightly irritated, but the joy of discovering the magazine kept his spirits high.
“This girl…”
“Yukiko.” He said in a calm tone, not looking at you. “The same one Mikey beat up the other day.”
"What?" Your voice was quiet. You watched Sanzu's calm movements as if the topic of your conversation was the weather. "How do you know?"
“On the table next to the display cases there is a fresh piece of skin with a tattoo. Two dripping cherries. Yukiko had one on one breast.” He finished packing his bag and zipped it up. “Mikey told the guys to send her back to her pimp. Who knew the poor thing would end up like this?”
“I know Mikey was mad at her… But…”
“He'll be furious when he finds out what happened to her.” A cruel smile appeared on Haruchiyo's lips. “He wanted to punish her, not kill her. I know he ordered her to be brought back to the hideout next month.”
You scratched your head and watched as the crates of weapons were carefully carried out of the warehouse. Hanma walked closer to you, still using his phone.
“We still have 40 minutes.” He said and then shouted at the others to move faster or they would be fucked. “Ran! We're leaving. We need to find the fucking camera footage.”
Haitani walked up to him obediently and gave you a look full of different emotions. You were alone with Sanzu in the warehouse for a while. He smiled gently and walked up to you, leaning towards you enough that you felt the warmth coming from his body and the smell of his perfume.
“I still think you going out with Hanma was a bad idea…” His hot breath fanned across your cheek and your heart skipped a beat. “But as they say, there is no evil that does not come to good. Thank you, Y/n.” He gently brushed his lips against your cheek and without waiting for your reaction, he pulled away from you, took the last bag of drugs, his katana and left the warehouse.
There were only empty shelves left in the room, a trace of crates on the floor and... - you raised your gaze and directed it at the wall with display cases - and trophies in the still lit display cases. You shuddered and left the warehouse.
Hanma and Ran were taking something out of a built-in compartment in the wall that you hadn't noticed before in the torture chamber and putting everything into a bag at their feet. They were small cassettes. You haven't seen Rindou anywhere.
“L/n, help Rindou in the living room. The boys found a computer there.” The taller of the two said over his shoulder and you obeyed him.
You went back up and entered the living room, where you immediately noticed the younger Haitani, who was messing around with something on the desktop computer. There were two laptops on the coffee table, ready to go.
You walked up to him and leaned down. "You need help?"
“No thanks, Y/n.” Rindou muttered and removed the hard drive. “We take everything. The laptops were hidden in the bedroom. Can you pick them up and carry them to the car? Sanzu has already left.”
"No problem. Should I put them in your car?”
"Yes, it can be. Everyone has to go to the hideout anyway.”
You nodded, grabbed said equipment and returned to the dining room to grab the box you left on the table and left the house. You looked at the windows of Mrs. Hiramatsu's house, but you didn't see any lights on. Zero activity. Perhaps the old lady slept soundly that night.
You walked over to the Haitani brothers' car, which Sanzu was leaning against. He looked up at the sky and on the ground was the bag he had taken from the basement. You opened the back door and placed your laptops on the seat.
“I mentioned to Hanma that you were coming back with us.” The pink-haired man said casually, turning slightly towards you.
"Thanks." You said quietly and nodded.
Sanzu laughed softly and tossed his gym bag right next to the equipment you had collected, carefully placing the katana inside and getting into the car. You got in as well and slammed the door, blocking out the sounds of the bustle outside. You sighed heavily, looking through the tinted window at the gang's cars driving away.
“Hey.” Sanzu placed one hand on your cheek and turned your head towards him. “Cheer up, Y/n. I know it's a difficult situation, but it will be fine." He stroked your skin with his thumb and leaned forward. “We have everything we need and they won't be able to escape us. We'll get them all and slaughter them like pigs."
You watched the man's face and at the sight of his heated gaze, your body temperature began to rise. Your eyes landed on his lips for a split second and you didn't have to wait long.
Sanzu leaned even closer and placed his hot lips against yours once. After a while, the second time. Third. The fourth, and when you opened your lips slightly, he kissed you harder. With each movement of your lips, the kiss became more passionate and your breathing became heavier.
Finally, his tongue traced your bottom lip, catching it between his teeth and pulling gently.
“Haru…” You whispered shakily and the pink-haired man chuckled before placing another kiss on your lips and pulling away to look at you once more. "Good stuff?"
“We haven't had one this good in a long time.” He chuckled and ran his slender fingers through your hair. “But it's not because of the drugs. It's a reward."
You chuckled through your nose and buried your face in his hand. “Am I a good dog?”
"Best. You have a talent." Sanzu joked and you kissed the inside of his hand.
You sat in silence for a while, but Sanzu moved and you felt the muscles in his arm tense slightly.
“What is this box?” He asked calmly and you let go of his hand, which he immediately, though not abruptly, took away.
"You will not believe." You replied, lifting the lid of the box and pulling out the birth certificate, which you handed to the pink-haired man.
He took the document in his hand and began to read. You saw the blood drain from his face and his eyes become as big as saucers. He looked at you with his mouth slightly open and at the same time both Haitani brothers got into the car. Rindou squirmed in the driver seat and looked at you curiously. “What is it?”
Without a word, Sanzu handed him the document and the younger Haitani's face showed disbelief. "What?"
Ran leaned forward curiously and began to read as well. He whistled in surprise and the Bonten trio looked at you as if they were seeing a human being for the first time. You felt uneasy, but Ran let out a loud laugh.
“You are daddy!”
“That bitch totally blew you away, L/n.” Rindou commented as he handed you your son's birth certificate. “She took everything from you, including your baby.”
"Very funny." You grumbled as you put the document in the box, but before you could close it, Sanzu's hand pulled out a photo of Yuuta.
“Like the skin being taken off you…” He said calmly, although his face still showed surprise. “You don't even have to do a paternity test.”
"Show me." Ran said and took the photo from the man's hand. “Aww, what a sweet little boy.”
“You got it right.” Rindou commented and looked at you with a half smile. “You put a lot of your own material into it. Bravo, good job.”
You felt your face getting uncomfortably hot and quickly took the photo of the baby from Ran.
“You have nothing to be ashamed of, Y/n.” Older Haitani teased you and Rindou started the car engine and pulled out of the driveway. Out of the corner of your eye, you saw the tall figure of Hanma, who was walking around the property to get to his car, and you started your journey back to Bonten's hideout.
You listened to your teammates' taunts, but you could clearly hear uncertainty creeping into Sanzu's voice. You moved your leg towards him and touched your knee to his to calm him down.
You had a son, it's true. You wanted him back, yes. But you had no intention of giving up on the man who already captured your heart. You looked towards him and saw that Haru was looking at you very carefully.
You mouthed the words "I love you" and a gentle smile appeared on the man's lips. He rested his head against the tinted window and closed his eyes.

What in your opinion Light meant under “immoral people” in the beginning?
He specifically puts them aside from criminals and “people who harass others” so I’m scared to imagine what he means by this. Lazy people? People who cheat on exams (Light is a star student so I wouldn’t be shocked?) people who litter? What do you think it is?
I believe you're talking about this panel, correct?
Tumblr media
The full quote, as in the panel, goes "And, while people who obviously deserve to be punished are dying of heart attacks... I'll actually be killing off immoral people and people who harass others, through illnesses and accidents."
>while people who obviously deserve to be punished are dying of heart attacks<
I think this refers to the criminals with crimes deserving the death penalty in Japan. Light will kill criminals who have committed crime(s) of a very severe nature with heart attacks as the cause of death.
Then comes the part you mention, namely killing off 'immoral people' and people who harass others, through illnesses and accidents. I can only hazard a guess at what he means by 'immoral people' as it's left open to interpretation. But I don't think Light (at least in the beginning of the manga) meant lazy people, people who cheat in exam or even people who litter.
I think he means people whose morals are questionable based on their behavior, whose crimes don't warrant a death penalty or crimes that don't involve harassment. Now what does that mean? Imho (I don't know much about Japan's legal system to make an educated guess, anywho) I guess drug addicts? Who (in Light's eyes, not mine) have the potential to be harmful for the society.
Maybe people who committed perjury? People who benefited from nepotism perhaps? Petty thieves? Corrupt individuals? People who gamble mayhaps?
[Note: I'm only speculating so there's a high chance that I may be wrong. I would love it if people with more knowledge about the subject shared their views!]

An AU where Hikage, Banjo, and En are idols or in a band. I just think it would be funny. Thank you!
I went a little off prompt, but they're all still in the music industry (which I know nothing about).
Banjo is a country singer. A good one who goes by the stage name of Lariat. Unfortunately, he's not very successful and had to pick up a second job to be able to eat, but he still enjoyed performing. But he's having some writer's block while trying to come up with a new song. He decides to take a break and visit his rural home town where he runs into the quiet kid from high school, Hikage Shinomori. After a bit of catching up (Hikage works on a farm now) he asks if he wants to help him write a song. No mystical feeling or anything, he was just desperate. Hikage is surprised, but agrees on the condition that Banjo doesn't tell anyone he helped write it, not wanting the spotlight. Banjo agrees.
A little later, he hears about some talent scouts for a big music company and decides to audition. There, he performs one of the songs he and Hikage wrote and they love it! He's finally gotten his big break!! He calls and tells Hikage the news who's very happy for his friend. But Banjo feels guilty that Hikage isn't getting anything and asks if he's sure he doesn't want anything. Hikage hesitates, but eventually tells him that he would like to partner up with him as his official songwriter but doesn't want his real name and face out there. Blah, blah, blah, legal stuff, and Hikage gets to help him write songs, but he does so under a fake name and never shows his face to the public.
Banjo becomes one of the most popular country singers in the country. Meanwhile, En is also trying his hardest to get noticed, going by the stage name of Gaen, but he's more on the techno side of things. Banjo heard his demo and, while that's not his forte, he sent it to some people and En became a hit. He later realized it was Banjo who helped him and tracked him down at a party to thank him and they became friends despite their difference in genre.
En still wants to do something to thank him and asks about making a song together. Banjo and Hikage don't have a problem, but unfortunately, their employers do. You see, AFO and Yoichi each own a different company. Yoichi owns the one Banjo and Hikage work for, while AFO owns the one En works for. They each started their companies to spite the other and have one very important rule stated in every contract: No working with the other company. In fact, the two brothers haven't spoken to each other in years after a falling out years ago.
They decide to try and get Yoichi to break the silence first since he's not as scary and get the story of what happened. It all started in high school. AFO was student council president who was rumored to have done some shady stuff for the position while Yoichi was president of the anime/manga club. Kudou and his friend Bruce had a band, and they were actually good, but no one took them seriously because they also had a bit of a delinquent reputation. Well, Yoichi fell in love with Kudou and his brother was not happy about it. AFO went all "You'll never last." "You're too good for him." "He'll probably get arrested for posession of drugs. And maybe even take you with him" "Look at that tattoo!" (He said all this when Yoichi brought him over for dinner). Sometime after they turned 18 and were looking at colleges, Yoichi mentioned trying to get into the same college Kudou was, which is what got them into a huge argument where things got out of hand. Yoichi ended up moving in with Kudou's family and AFO didn't do anything to bring him back, certain that they wouldn't last a year and Yoichi would come back on his own. They got married six months later, and AFO made a huge scene at the wedding where they got into another argument, which is what led to them not speaking to each other. Yoichi actually does want to see his brother again, but pride and fear have gotten in the way.
Of course, when AFO is asked, he'll go on about the delinquent who stole his brother away, which they all know isn't true since they met Kudou and he's actually a really nice guy. They're stumped and about to give up, when a chance opportunity comes in the form of AFOs son. Izuku is a huge fan of All Might, who works for Yoichi's company and says he'll convince his dad to talk to his uncle if they can get him All Might's autograph. And they all have to give him an autograph too. Yes Hikage, you too.
You'd think it would be an epic journey that takes 30 minutes of the movie, but All Might's a nice guy who just happens to be really busy. So, all Lariat has to do is call him and explain the situation and he comes right over. Turns out, he always really wanted to do a song with the famous Seven (aka Nana Shimura) who works for AFO, so not only does he give an autograph, but actually does what's basically a mini-interview with how many questions Izuku is asking.
Within a week AFO and Yoichi have made up. More stuff happens between them, but the important thing is that Lariat and Gaen can finally collab and Izuku gets VIP tickets to the next All Might concert.
Bonus: Bruce was the one who dragged AFO out of the wedding by socking him in the stomach so hard he flew back and banged his head on a table. He felt a weird sense of satisfaction for that. Almost like he had gotten back at him for something...

Clamp Art Style Analysis: Part 2: Series styles and Compare and Contrast
Series Styles
Over the years the Clamp art style changes constantly depending on the series, and the art direction always changes depending on the work and magazine. Clamp’s art style always changes to suit the genre of the magazine the work is running in.  When I researched I noticed when I look at their earlier works and recently it's in that their art style changed over the years  I saw that the art of these series improved due to different works' sterilization and the hiatus this is seen in a few series that I am going to talk about.  I am not going to go over all of their works just choose these series and discuss them in this segment, I am going to be heavily biased and choose this series to talk about the art style, lines, and materials used while drawing the series
X1999
Tumblr media
I don’t know the art style with x as I did with the other series since there wasn’t much to talk about in the interviews.
Mostly I think this is the beginning of Clamp’s early years when the art style looked this way. The art style Clamps early years as artists. The one in charge of X's art direction is Nekoi, Nekoi is in charge of the art direction of x with Igarashi assisting, The art in X changed with the art shifted to Nekoi’s delicate style.
The art of X changed expeditiously compared to how the art looked in the first chapter,
Tumblr media
The art at the beginning of X had thick ink lines and more dramatic shading in the early volumes and is more or less gone. X is drawn in a more ornate style characteristic of shoujo manga, noting that x is a series intended for a female audience.  X takes on a shojo style bolder and more intense art for drawing X there is a heavy use of screen tone. While drawing X, they used straight lines they drew with Thick lines in the beginning, X had a lot of colored backgrounds in the illustrations, and manga X is one of the series in that they had trouble applying screentone.
If you compare x it has changed a lot due to Clamp working on other series though mostly it's because it ran the longest in the magazine. X was sterilized during Wish, Card Captor Sakura, Chobits, Magic Knight Rayearth,Suki, Legal Drug, Legend of Chun Hyang and Angelic Layer.
When it came to creating for x it was the original character profile, Clamp drew all the aspects they wanted to include in the final character in a bulletin-type chart they drew it like a New Year's greeting card.
Tumblr media
Unlike with other sterilization, they didn’t decide on the materials they would be using so X doesn’t have any specific material for drawings. Nekoi and Mokona did a lot of experimenting with materials in x. Clamp used many different materials and a variety of techniques when drawing X the colors in x they painted with a lot of new materials and a lot of contrasting colors. There was a lot of experimenting with materials with x. You can see it in the illustrations.
The materials that are used for x are color screentone. Colortone is a type of colored screentone called overlay, their usual color ink, gash, and pastel products X has many different kinds of illustration paper used for coloring from wrapping paper and cardboard to tea wrappers.
I am going to go over the materials they used in their color illustrations from 1992-1996 and 1997-2004
1992-1997
Tumblr media
Paper: Kent Block, BB Kent, BB Kent rough surface, Kent paper, sand textured paper, Shinden shi paper, Feather Waltz, Arches,  parchment paper, manuscript paper, Watson paper, wood free paper
Lines: Holbein Color Ink (Special black), Photocopied pencil lines, Pigma Graphic pen, Pigma Graphic ink pen, color pencil, pencil, Holbein Color Ink (sepia), poster color, color pencil, Winsor and Newton Drawing Ink (nut brown), Dr. Ph. Martins Sepia Ink
Color: Dr. Ph. Martain’s Color Ink, Acrylic, airbrush, modeling paste, gouache, color tone, poster color, Liquitex, Acrylic gouache, color tone, white out, Copic markers, Lumocolor Ink pen, Lumocolor
1998-2003
Tumblr media
Paper: Watson paper,  BB Kent, copy paper, Sheet of paper with a light brown color, hotel stationery paper,
Lines: Pigma Graphic ink pen, India ink, Ballpoint pen, Sepia black ink,
Color: Lumocolor ink pen, modeling paste  Lumocolor, sepia, copic marker, airbrush, poster, Acrylic gouache, airbrush, color ink,  Liquitex,  Dr. Ph. Martains Color Ink,  Gold brown Ink, Poster color, color ink,
If you looked at the materials and techniques in the comments used for drawing the illustrations of x they
put a lot of work in the color illustrations for x. The materials used in the illustration change the impression.
For the illustrations, There were a few comments about it, A 2002 comment that Fuuma's head looks a little big; this is a drawing habit they had while working on Chobits at the time.
When it came to illustrations sepia ink was used for outlines of characters with pale color profiles since the lines stand out too much in black in illustrations sepia ink was used for characters with pale color profiles. Hinoto, Kakyou, and Kotori have Saphia outlines. Yuto is the only exception. He has a light color profile but looks good with crisp outlines so he is drawn with black ink.  When Clamp drew Kotori they always made sure to draw her with a very faint and soft touch when it came to drawing her in illustrations they used Sephia instead of black for her lines.
X is a shoujo manga that ran in Asuka for some time. It has a lot of action scenes that attracted male readers, Asuka gave the team the freedom to create what they saw fit.
There is a difference in colors between the first and subsequent printings as seen in the volumes of X. The volumes up to 4 were a lot tidier but on volume 5. Clamp started to get busier and messier.
Everything in X is written by script, even the details of the collapsing and the destruction of the buildings look like the destruction of the buildings is written from the script from Ohkawa. The backgrounds and destruction of the city were mentioned by Ohkawa. While Clamp is drawing the destruction of the buildings they have reference photos taken beforehand which Igarashi finds tiring and painful.
In Kamui’s character design, Kamui has Tsuri-me-type eyes like Ashura from RG Veda Clamp considered Kamui's hairstyle and uniform average.
The character that Clamp had a hard time drawing appearance-wise is Kotori,  Kotori was the character that Clamp found trouble with drawing. When Ohkawa looked at the manuscript copy of chapter one Ohkawa was a little shocked at the drawing of Kotori even considered her like udon. Mokona did her in pencil in the rough draft, Kotori looked soft and sort of limp when she added a pen she looked thicker by thinning down the lines her body became less solid making her float around she became lighter and more impermanent so they used the tip of the pens instead when inking her.
Another one of the difficulties that came with drawing X was drawing all the characters from the dragons of heaven and the dragons of the earth in one picture in the same illustration. They are parts of the character that give you trouble that you confuse with others but individually they are easy.
Clover
Tumblr media
Clover has a different sense of atmosphere and techniques. The art in Clover has a feeling of decadence or nostalgia, the wing design looks like older Mecha Ohkawa was influenced by the movie “1984” she made Mokona watch it to recapture its mood. The buildings in Clover reference old movies made to resemble German and European countries. They also used European photographs as references, like photos of German factories.
Ohkawa made modifications to Clovers' art style since it ran in a magazine for young girls the intended audience for Clovers was older so the art style is made to look prettier since it's for girls.
Mokona is in charge of the art in Clover even the story paneling was planned out by her Both Mokona and Ohkawa planned the panels in the manga Clover. The distinctive layouts and layouts of the panels are created with music videos and movies in mind. The panels in Clover look like frames from a movie. Ohkawa had a hand in it with half having to plan the width of each panel. It wasn't easy and took more time. Clamp found the layout the most challenging and most fun they had in the series, for Clover has dialogue or scenes with big spaces between sentences. Clamp used thinner frames to look pretty.
The art material they used is gayoushi paper which is used to emphasize the bounciness of Sue's hair. Gayoushi paper is a type of cartridge paper in Japanese. They used drawing paper for clover the drawing paper here is contrasted with other, more common media. Clamp used different paper for clover which is cartridge paper or gayoshi paper for drawing the manga but the screentone kept slipping off and was annoying to Clamp. They used the copy machine to give Clover a picture book blurred look they had a hard time getting it right and tried many times.
Card Captor Sakura
Tumblr media
For the art style of Card Captor Sakura, Clamp wanted to create something really cute.
It focuses on the cute factor so the lines and use of ink are to give it a soft and cute feel Card Captor Sakura uses thin, curved lines the manga Mokona the one who makes the lines thin in Sakura and doesn’t use a lot of ink making the pages light and to make it look soft feel. It is a shoujo manga with a magical girl genre so it would make sense that the series would look soft. Card Captor Sakura uses color ink for the illustrations the color ink is used to create a clear image. For materials Card Captor Sakura and clear card Arc used copic markers and modeling paste in the illustrations.
For designing the Clow cards, the design of borders of the cards was created first. Mokona filled in the illustrations, and the rest determined the card name and functions in the story. Clamp didn’t have problems with designing characters but the expressions changed from the plan.
Chobits
Tumblr media
The materials of Chobits are based on Ohkawas decisions for materials. Clamp uses ball pens for drawing. They used ball pens since they wanted something drawn by pencil. The illustrations for Chobits have Clamp use acrylic gouache and more gouache.
In Chobit's art style the character has shorter arms and legs and the shoulders aren't wide. the character designs for chobits for Chi, Chi’s design is the most detailed one.
Legal Drug
Tumblr media
Legal Drug came after Suki, Clamp was into underground crime dramas so the manga has serious and dark tones. The series went on a hiatus so the art style changed compared to when it was first run making the art style similar to XXXHolic.
Clamp used digital computer equipment for Legal Drug, Legal Drug is the first series that Clamp drew colored digital for the first time. Clamp drew all the CG color illustrations for Legal Drug. They wanted to use CG as a tool so they learned how to use CG from Katsuya, Okazaki Takeshi, and Takashi Yamazaki. Clamp struggled using the computer for the first time they ran into problems like the power ran out of the computer before saving.
Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle
Tumblr media
The drawing methods changed with Tsubasa and XXXHolic, two series that worked in tandem; this goes with the drawing style of both series since the art style has been changing. Both scripts of XXXHolic and Tsubasa have a lot of difficulty, Tsubasa was supposed to be for a younger audience which caused it to increase complexity but it gave the team complete creative freedom. Clamp didn’t want to make the pacing too complicated due to being about a young man's journey.
Tsubasa had thicker lines and simple page layouts, Clamp used a marker with thick lines that could be drawn while printing on rough paper since the frames did not work well the fine lines looked blurred Clamp had a problem making the lines too thin, and didn’t have the impact they needed to stand out the lines need to be bold and popped out since it's a weekly manga series said readers tend to forget. The thick lines in Tsubasa are to make the art be seen in the magazine printings since thin lines are too delicate and will make scenes hard to see in the printing of the magazine
Since Tsubasa is running a weekly magazine the thickness of the lines affects the visibility of the magazine printing.
Tsubasa started the trend of drawing thin vertical borders and thick horizontal ones, the difference between the panel borders Clamp separating the panel in the layouts to link it to XXXHolic.
The art style of Tsubasa was based on a suggestion from the editor The editor asked the group to make the drawing style attractive to readers of Shonen magazine Tsubasa is a shone manga drawn to fit that genre Clamp already had design decided and materials prepared.
For materials they are seen using when drawing, Tsubasa is a monograph mechanical pencil used for pencil drafting in their manga. The Clamp uses a marker with which thick lines can be drawn to make it pop out on rough paper in printing the ink markers they use to fill in the large spaces. Clamps have Copic markers for colored illustration in Tsubasa.
Ohkawa directs the art style of Tsubasa, she tells the members to draw the male characters with vigor and take more care of the female characters. Mokona is the artist who crafts the characters and storyboards she draws most of the characters in Tsubasa, female characters have soft fluffy hair and look like they are drawn with soft touches, and male characters are drawn with a rougher touch. Ashura wasn’t easy to draw since they have a feminine beauty and it wasn’t easy to draw those with loose eyelashes. They decided not to draw lower lashes which made the faces stiff, evident with Emeraude they changed her hair and put curls in her hair to make her more graceful. They used their normal style to get the readers to pick up the story. When accustomed to the new style they thought of slowly returning to their art style during the country of Oto.
The script of Tsubasa takes 5 hours, the storyboard 10, and the drawing for the manuscript takes two days for 20 pages. If not going well, it could take three days.
XXXHolic
Tumblr media
The drawing methods changed with Tsubasa and XXXHolic Two series worked in tandem compared to the two series XXXHolic was the series that Clamp found was easy to draw.
The characters of XXXHolic are drawn to be very tall and have long limbs; they are thinner and longer in the drawing. It makes characters more expressive in the manga. XXXHolic and Tsubasa have similar proportions for characters The reason is that they cross over Tsubasa is linked to XXXHolic the proportions of the characters are similar to be meant to cross over to Tsubasa.
The materials for XXXHolic they use for drawing are felt tip pens since human characters are drawn by 2 people if they used a regular pen the brushstroke strengths would be uneven Clamp members have strong drawing pressure so having the same pen can even it out. Clamp decided not to use screen tones for xxHolic, XXXHolic is drawn without screen tone to give more of an impression of occultism.
They used mechanical pencils for the drafting stage when drawing in xxxHolic and inking markers to fill in large spaces.
There are a lot of Japanese and Chinese in XXXHolic The style Clamp uses for XXXHolic is similar to traditional Japanese Ukiyo-e paintings, a Ukiyo-e art style that dictates longer proportions for the characters. The character looks tall and lean. xxHolic looks more like a wood block painting and has Japanese prints and Alphonse Mucha with an art nouveau in it. The female characters in XXXHolic are drawn by Mokona and the male characters are drawn by Nekoi who are also Yokai and spirits that aren't in human shape and animals.
The covers and color pages are drawn by Nekoi and Mokona together, the base colors of the covers are never white, gold, or silver then color printed over it.
The storyboard for XXXHolic takes 6 to 8 hours done by Saturday.
Kobato
Tumblr media
Kobato's art style is similar to Card Captor Sakura’s. The lines used in Kobato are similar to the lines in Card Captor Sakura, and the lines in the manga are thin, like a shoujo manga. The colors of the illustration are pale with a touch of watercolor.
Kobato was made into a brighter series since Tsubasa was heading into a dark development, Kobato's story is loose and not too dark and is meant to be more relaxing.
Comparing and Contrasting the panels of these series
X/1999 & Clover
Tumblr media
Clover and X are two old shoujo manga done by Clamp though Clover was drawn during the run of X
making X the longest-running series. Each of the members of Clamp is in charge of the art direction of the manga
with Nekoi in charge of the art direction of x and Mokona in charge of the art direction for Clover.
The lines that are used to ink and the line thickness in the two series are different along with the amount of pen pressure seen in the manga. The members of Clamp have strong drawing pressure. You can see it in the way they drew the lines in the ink and the line weight in the ink in the manga. You can tell the amount of pen pressure used in both the manga series is a testament to how strong the drawing pressure is.
For the line thickness for both series, the lines in X have straight bold thicker lines. The lines in Clover are thin and along with the panels the lines have thin frames.
X uses a heavy amount of screen tone whereas Clover doesn’t use too much screen tone.
They use a different sort of paper for clover that is gayoushi paper which is used to emphasize the bounciness of Sue’s hair.
These are two styles. The art style for Clover is made to look pretty since it's for girls and drawn with an air of decadence to give people old-fashioned feelings when they read it. The style of Clover stands out due to how it's drawn. The frames of Clover are supposed to look more like a movie. The art style of X went through huge changes due to a long year run so its art style changed to be more defined and detailed.
Both manga series have different art styles to suit the atmosphere of the manga  X used a heavy atmosphere where Clover has some sort of emptiness that the characters in the manga face to symbolize how bleak their situation is though someone pointed out that a large amount of negative space for clover is drawn to emphasize for the characters loneliness. The atmosphere of X gives a more foreboding sort of feel since it's near the end of the world.
Tsubasa and Card Captor Sakura
Tumblr media
These two manga series went through two second series there is major art development compared to how it was first runned here to properly focus on the current art style.
When you put the two together they are radically different.
The art styles for the two series are created to fit the genre with Card Captor Sakura being a shoujo manga and Tsubasa being a shonen manga.
For the lines of the series, Card Captor Sakura is thin curved lines and doesn’t use a lot of ink The lines in Tsubasa are bolder and thicker with simple page line art.
The materials used when drawing Tsubasa for which thick lines can be drawn is a marker with thick lines as stated before the impre.ssion of the series can change depending on the materials used this is true for Tsubasa and Card Captor Sakura
The characters in Tsubasa are drawn differently by different artists the female characters have soft fluffy hair drawn with soft delicate touches and the male characters are drawn with a rougher touch to emphasize masculinity.
The eyes of both series are different. The eyes in both series have different textures in the irises with the upper eyes in Card Captor Sakura being thin and dark. The eyes of Tsubasa are angular and thick there are no lashes in the eyes of Tsubasa
Sakura and Syaoran
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you need to compare the series the styles would be seen best in the designs of the two characters of Sakura and Syaoran. Looking at them together the impressions of these two characters do change depending on the art style of the series they are drawn in. Sakura and Syaoran are drawn differently in Tsubasa than they were in Card Captor Sakura Even though Sakura and Syaoran are drawn the same there are a few differences that set them apart seen in the hair and eyes.
The designs of Sakura and Syaoran are re-used in Tsubasa in designs. I would notice a lot of small details in their designs that make them different and stand out as their hairstyles and eyes differed when you put the two of them together. The new designs of the characters convey the impression of their characters.
There a different impressions of the two characters when you look at the art style how they are drawn with thin lines and how they are drawn with thick lines the impression of the two characters are There different when looking at the different art style and how differences there are in their designs
Tumblr media
In the Card Captor Sakura Syaoran looked more like a boy fitting since he is in elementary school so he's drawn to be much younger. The syaoran in Tsubasa gives an image of a young man between boyhood and manhood Tsubasa’s syaoran design highlights maturity in contrast to Card Captor Sakura Syaoran. The height is obvious in the designs drawn with the Tsubasa design.
If I compare the two Syaoran together their expressions are different, Card Captor’s Syaoran looked dour and moody
whereas Tsubasa’s Syaoran spots a determined, serious look. Card Captor’s Syaoran looks like a little kid while Tsubasa’s Syaoran looks like a bright honest, sincere young man. The only difference between the designs of syaorans would be their expressions conveying their overall look and personality in their design. Syaoran is designed based on a shonen protagonist it answered with what would happen if Card Captor Syaoran is the shounen protagonist with Tsubasa Syaoran as the answer.
For Syaoran’s hair: Syaoran’s hair is a crew cut with the end shaved. Both Syaorans have the same hairstyle drawn differently from the series. In Card Captor Sakura there are a lot of lines and details in the hair of Syaoran’s with his bangs being thin lines.  Tsubasa’s Syaoran hair is simplified and doesn’t have too many lines his hair and bangs are drawn simply and look blocky and rough he is drawn with rough edges as seen with his hair that emphasizes masculinity.

For Sakura's hair, both the Card CAptor and Tsubasa have short hair. She does have the same short hairstyle; there are a few noticeable differences. Card Captor Sakura’s hair looked straighter in the art, Tsubasa’s Sakura hair has soft fluffy hair and looks bouncy and floofy. her hair moves in different directions to emphasize the bounciness aspect and there are a lot of strands in Sakura's hair.
Card Captor’s sakura is designed based on one of Clamps nieces and Despite them being designed as normal girls, they have this cuteness to them that makes them appealing with Tsubasa sakura designs being reused but still have an image of cuteness like with card captor’s sakura still retains her cheerful and lively personality as she had in Card Captor Sakura.

Card Captor Sakura and Kobato
Tumblr media
The two of them are both shoujo mangas but have different audiences with Card Captor Sakura created for a younger audience and Kobato for an older audience in mind.
The two series have different tones Kobato is focused on drama and is more serious but light and loose. Card Captor Sakura is a lighter series than Kobato but is drawn with a soft cute-like feel in mind with Kobato being a focus of reality and the supernatrual in the manga.
The amount of lines when inking at Kobato has a similar style to Card Captor Sakura with the series both using thin lines The lines in Kobato are thin and shojo manga like Card Captor Sakura use curved thin lines and don’t have a lot of of of ink. There are different textures in eyes when inked, Kobato has a lot of lashes in her eyes Sakura has a few lashes
Card Captor Sakura and Chobits
Tumblr media
Card Captor Sakura is a shojo manga intended for a younger audience in mind, Chobits is an ecchi manga drawn for an older male audience in mind the art style is appealing to a male audience.
Though the genre of the two series has different art styles they are both drawn with the same thin lines the series are drawn with the use of thin lines and both look soft. Card captor Sakura Doesn’t use a lot of ink and has thin curved lines.
The difference is the materials that are used for the series Chobits uses different materials from Card captor Sakura, for materials for Chobits Clamp use ballpoint pens to make it look to be drawn by pencil The thickness in the eyes of Chobits have a thin line drawn, the ballpoint pen has something to do with it changing the thickness in the eyes.
Tsubasa and xxxHolic
Tumblr media
Tsubasa and xxxHolic are both manga series that are drawn in tandem so it wouldn’t be a surprise they have a similar art style. Holic and Tsubasa have similar proportions for the characters this is supposed to show they are both linked. The characters in Holic are drawn tall and have long limbs which are thinner and longer in the manga.
Holic is styled as more of a woodblock painting. Holic art style resembles Japanese ukiyo-e paintings with ukiyo-e longer proportions. Holic is drawn without screentone to give more of an occult feeling.
Clamp uses different materials for the two series, Holic has members draw the characters they use felt tip pens to match Clamps' strong drawing style and use an inking marker to fill large spaces. For Tsubasa the materials they use are a marker with thick lines they used a marker with thick lines to make it pop. Since Tsubasa is more action-oriented since it is a shounen the art needs to pop.
Comparing the thickness of the lines in the series, I would say that Holic has thin lines to contrast with Tsubasa's thick bold lines The eyes of Holic look like there drawn using thin lines and the eyes of Tsubasa have heavy lines in them.
