Not the same anon as before but I have a question about Sephira and Luce. Would Sephira becoming the Sky arcobaleno not defeat the whole purpose of the pacifiers being made? Kawahira states they were made because the earthlings could not maintain the balance themselves anymore. I know people in her family eventually became cursed but it doesn’t seem like she is? In that picture you show her being normal sized and not a baby too.

My question for Luce is that I swear we see her become cursed on the mountain and become a baby. Why did she become a baby if she got the curse from her mom but not Aria or Uni? Why did she bother going to the mountain? To keep up appearances?

yeah we're all good with all your questions, no worries haha. to answer them in order, i do get why you'd think that about sepira. like you said, as the numbers of earthlings started decreasing, eventually they weren't enough of them left anymore to be able to keep sustaining the seven stones that was originally the trinisette by themselves. so they took some of the stones and broke them down into seven more parts (the pacifiers), so they could use the help of humans to keep sustaining it.

but it still doesn't change the fact that it's their duty to look after the trinisette, right? and as earthlings, they're the ones most suited to do it and likely can do it the more safely/longer/while feeling minimum side effects from it. so i can see sepira ending up with the sky pacifier/choosing to become its bearer as her caring to keep doing her duty for as long as she can, but also as some kind of safeguarding of some sort. because like, humans weren't supposed to be the ones to look after the trinisette nor are they naturally suited for it. and the sky pacifier being a particularly important part of the trinisette, they choose one of them to be its bearer, give the six other pacifiers to humans, and keep looking after the remaining stones themselves. (because remember, but at this point there's still five earthlings left, including kawahira and sepira.)

and yes, sepira isn't a baby in that panel, but it's because none of the sky arco are ever turned into babies! i know in the anime luce is shown being turned into a baby, but it's during the arco filler arc so, you know, it's not canon. and even in the manga there's some cover pages where amano drew her as a baby too, but i really think it's just for aesthetic purposes so she doesn't stand out from the rest of the arco she's drawn alongside with. because as far as the manga in and of itself says, in the rainbow arc byakuran explicitly says the sky arco aren't turned into babies, but in exchange their particular curse takes the form of a short lifespan.

as for the way luce ended up cursed compared to aria and uni, bermuda explains to reborn and tsuna that kawahira chooses/curses the arco through two different methods. i'm not gonna put all the relevant panels because it's basically the whole of chapter 386 lol, but yeah, here:

so basically, kawahira either gathers the next generation of arco under the guise of gathering the seven strongest, giving them missions so they can prove themselves worthy of the title, until eventually he gives them a last mission to gather them together so he can curse them. or he baits them with the possibility of earning their freedom from the curse by winning the representative war, making them (which is so sick of him now i think about it actually) gather the current strongest of the next generation so he can choose among them who are the most suitable to become the next arco.

so luce ending up cursed through the fated day is because by then, the cycle of choosing/cursing the next arco was just back to happen through the fated day. and meanwhile aria and uni inherited it from their respective mother, because the sky arco's curse is a short lifespan, and so there's the need of multiple sky arco for one generation of arco until the time to choose the next generation of arco altogether comes around again. or at least, that's how i personally make sense of the arco lore haha.

First I wanna point out what Gamma said here!

Specifically the fact that Kyoya focuses his defensive flame on his left arm when he goes to block something. Now, I don't think TYL!Kyoya was taking the time to think here. He was fighting, relying mainly on year-old, deeply ingrained instincts I'd say.

Which brings me to the idea that!! I think, as a child, Hibari probably sustained some kind of injury on his left side/left arm which forced him to become ambidextrous (which is Canon trivia I think?) and made it so he doesn't have perfect mobility on his left side. He sustains most of his major injuries left actually.

And TYL!Kyoya just so happens to instinctively concentrate defensive flames on his left when he goes to block an attack... I don't know if any of this was intended by Amano-Sensei, but I have absolutely convinced myself that Hibari Kyoya has fine motor-levels of mobility impairment and/or chronic pains.

Because. Why not? lemme cram more believable representation in this Boi. :3c

Also! Just to mention/point out. TYL!Kyoya wears his rings right because he needs fine motor skills to insert rings into boxes, but Teen!Kyoya seems to wear his bracelet left. Because I think as a reckless, angry teen, Kyoya would steamroll his own health and capabilities and try to overcompensate in any way that doesn't directly call attention to a perceived weakness.

Ashley : Technically. I discovered something that something happened to that kid named Shotaro, the leader of the Dokeshi Alliance, who had something previously went on to an investigation that they disappeared.

Kimial Diehl : Yeah, what did you clearly remembered.

Eruka : Well...back in my hometown of New Orleans...I was looking to information about the strange occurences happening into this country. But on the occassion, I was gonna expose the people of Orleans to tell anyone the truth about why our kind is being threatened to the public. Me, we're not enemies to human kind. Kimial, did you remember something happening before you got back to Salem?

Kimial Diehl : Well...Yes. I remember now. I shed my own name for Kimial Diehl, It was Kimiko Kasugatani. When I made a stop at Vermont during my days fleeing Tokyo to this place that I was birthed at, I tried finding a place to hide from the evil forces in vermont, after I destroyed people when I was a false-victim to bullying. People teasing me, I don't know why that I had to suffer like this. I got scarred, all alone, no wanted. But until that fateful, something literally happened.

Ashley : That's good to hear, Kimial. However, things may have not been into what they seemed to be not all of them. That's their reason of why you, a girl from Soul World that existed within Real World. Only if a hero has potential, then I believe that you are the hero that have full potential and others do have one for their ideals.

Kimial Diehl : (blushes) Well, I guess that it all makes of what it means to be a hero, if only that we could somehow make everything get a potential, I wonder what was a hero's journey that could be definitely something.

Eruka : Hey, I remember those guys. Ansem said something about a heartless's attention being triggered and I wonder what it's causing it's attention to destroy the legacy!

Kimial Diehl : Huh? What? Th...That's nuts! Who do such a thing to our heritage and why would someone to think our people got involved as enemies.

Eruka : I know something. The real reason that witches were being enemies to that school because there is a heartless that set up the events of Soul Eater, which took place in Maka's head, a dream that Lord Nightmare set up everything and including her of being the Ohkuboverse's "2nd Destroyer".

Eruka : 2nd Destroy!? You must be kidding! So Resulting of 50% of the Ohkuboverse by this time entity they call him the Time Eater, It was back then when the Men of Shinra's Influence wanted to bring power over to the planet, we witches feared that Shinigami was not shinigami at and Truth told us that we are not the enemies, he is. Truth said that a charlatan is responsible for hurting our heritage, and I know who it was. It was that stupid heartless that's responsible for being "Mr. Nice Guy" Shinigami, but where's the Shinigami we knew.

Ashley : You mean "Darkside Death"? Yeah, I heard of that no-good reaper of them, he was a heartless that destroyed the Majos of the east which they were people of Marisa, the witch of Touhou! He was an evil heartless who kept truth out of the public eye in order tl bring power to humanity and the heartless to their selves that will spread the influence of Shinra. Where did it all go wrong? (thinking) *DING!* I got it! When Shinra created Lord Death from his heart 1000 years ago, the Time Eater arrived for some point and proclaims that he accused Shinra and his people for trying to open the door to Darkness and created Death that turns out to be heartless that he gave birth.

Eruka : Can't say for sure, The bad guys that used me to bring destruction on the planet, I wasn't attracted by the influence, the heartless are. And now I understand that I seek my eyes into truth! You'll understand that A witch's eyes must understand truth! The nasty gorgon Sisters weren't going to help me to destroy humanity, they both wanted to use me to destroy this planet it's because of that legacy! That only made come into seeking truth when they found out that the Real Gorgon Witch trio were actually misfits who were punished for their crimes against humanity and were imprisoned coffins designed by the legendary vampire, Dracula. It is their only imprisonment that is specially designed for cryosleep for only 700 years! I finally cracked the case.

i think the point about how it's a common practice to set up a meeting with an antagonist by first introducing their minions is a solid argument, you're right! especially when you think about how colonnello and skull made full appearances when they were first introduced like you said. because why wasn't verde there to show up after his assassins were caught and try something else to finish the job? (well, i guess one argument would be that it isn't the smartest move for one, and what's the point to hire assassins but still go with them and risk getting caught with them too lol. especially when verde's the smartest person in the world.) skull was first introduced as an antagonist too, and he still got to make a full appearance immediately.

actually now that i think about it, none of the other arcos are introduced through that set up method? well, uni kinda was, as when we first see her we only know she's the second boss of millefiore even when she's an arco too, which was evident from the pacifier around her neck, and only later with gamma's flashback we realize she's actually one of the good guys. and fon maybe kinda was too? i don't remember if we learn immediately that fon's i-pin's master, if reborn points it out or something. i think in the anime he does, but i'm not sure for the manga. either way, none of the other arcos are set up in a clear antagonistic way like verde was, not even skull who was targeting mafia land and had no idea tsuna was there, while verde's target was tsuna, the protagonist. (also of course viper was an antagonist to tsuna too, but that happened at the same time as they were introduced to us. the fact they were an arco too was set up to be a plot twist, but their antagonistic-ness wasn't, unlike the way it seems to have been planned to be for verde.)

and then amano made him one of the three people who created the box weapons. and okay, it doesn't necessarily antagonize him further because you can't just blame scientists for the way other people use their inventions (unless of course said inventions were expressly invented with a nefarious purpose to them, and for sure the box weapons didn't help lower the deaths and violence and thirst for ever more power in the mafia lol, but also their use still depends on the people who use them), but learning about that fact amidst the future arc certainly didn't help seeing it in a neutral way, let alone a good one. especially when it's said they were selling them to the mafia as weapons dealers to fund their researches of them (or was it only one or the two others scientists who were said to have done that?). and then amano makes a point of showing us reborn asking him if he could be trusted to send them back to the past without trying anything in the process.

and wow, when you put all this back to back like this, it's really evident amano was writing him in a completely different way right until the rainbow arc, huh. very interesting.

and it's so galaxy brained of you to link that to the assassinations of mafia bosses fae, holy shit. which does really feel like something that was planned to become a proper plotline!! okay so a little correction here, but we actually don't know how long ago before canon nono's three sons were killed. all we know is that they died in the eight years xanxus was frozen. and i mean, all three of them dying in eight years? like, i'm no specialist on mafia deaths statistics lol, but it looks suspiciously quick. especially when they were the vongola heirs, so their security would have been top-notch. and they'd likely have had increased it after xanxus' attempted coup, as to literally everyone but nono who was the only one who knew xanxus would have never been able to become vongola decimo anyway, him attempted a coup and failing it was also vongola losing one of its heirs. also his three sons dying in the eight years xanxus was frozen? almost like the aftermath of xanxus' coup would have left vongola weakened and would have been the most opportune moment to go after another heir. and then of course as they kept succeeding, weakening vongola further, despite how once again the security around the remaining heirs must have increased every time, they weren't about to stop and lose their momentum. (and yes, i'm aware i'm talking about heirs here and not bosses, but vongola nono must literally be the hardest mafioso to kill. so if you can get rid of a family by killing their boss, getting rid of their heirs instead is another way to go about it, right?)

like, it all tracks? and i don't think it was ever hinted that i-pin's target was a mafia boss? but if so it'd strengthen this theory further, yeah. and something else that'd strengthen it is that tsuna had assassins going after him only after he was chosen as vongola decimo, even if before that, as the cedef boss' son, he was almost just as much of a prized target worth taking the risk to go after. and the world's greatest hitman being chosen as his tutor? maybe it was less about reborn's skills as a tutor, and more about how he was literally the strongest person to protect the last remaining vongola heir. i mean!!!!

and okay, i do seem to remember that the way it was framed in the manga, the assassinations were something recent and--wait, didn't reborn put the blame on verde for them, saying it was so he could test his camouflage suits? or did he only say whoever was behind it was using his camouflage suits? either way there's that, plus the fact that assassins going after mafia bosses would be something common in the mafia that'd happen here and now, right? but that said, putting all this back to back like this too, it really seems we were going for a plotline where someone was going after mafia bosses, and verde would have had a major/central/key antagonistic role in it. or not even an antagonistic role tbh. maybe it'd just have been that the culprits were using his inventions to do their job. and that he unknowingly (or knowingly) helped them do that because it was the opportunity to test his inventions and fund his researches like you said. oh i almost forgot, but even if it's the case, i agree it's very unlikely he had anything to do with the death of nono's three sons, yeah!

and yes, agree too that in the rainbow arc, verde (and his relationship with reborn) is much more chill than we were led to assume he'd be. it's like i said before, but when you look at the way he was written in the anime and the way he's written in the last arc, it's like, what the hell happened here lol?? and i actually made a post about this myself once, because it's the same effect even if you only look at the manga. namely there's this cover chapter in the last arc showing all the arco and their titles/what made them arco, and apparently verde's known as a mad scientist but like... literally where?? when did he ever show that kind of disposition, the anime notwithstanding? now of course he clearly doesn't care to be ethical in his researches and in building his inventions, nor does he care that other people might use them in non-ethical ways, but it's like... yeah, that's because he's mafia too. if anything it'd be worth pointing out more if he did care about it. and it's not nearly enough to call him mad.

(and here comes your friendly reminder that in the meantime, reborn is literally the WORLD'S GREATEST HITMAN. and it might not make him mad, but it sure as hell doesn't make him ethical either. and god, does it make him monstrous.)

So, I only know of one point of foreshadowing for Verde specifically. I haven't reread the manga in a while (a few weeks to a year to not at all, depending on the arc), and I haven't really rewatched the anime since I first saw it around 2012. (However, I do rewatch the Verde episodes sometimes.) So this won't be as comprehensive as I'd like. (Sorry) Also note that this whole thing will be full of my own interpretations and theories on the manga (and a little of the anime). So some things may be biased,etc. Also, manga spoilers!

Now then, what makes me think he is foreshadowed? Chapter 53 of the manga.

In this chapter, Verde is mentioned by some of his hired assassins to have sent them to target Tsuna. He apparently has been going after bosses and their successors. (I assume this is because he was hired by another person to do this in order to make some side money for his experiments as well as test out those camouflage suits.) The attempt fails, and Tsuna tells the defeated assassins to send Verde his reguards.

Now, what's interesting to note is when any form of plot goes out of its way for an "antagonist" to send a minion after the main character, this serves as a setup for a later encounter.

Another thing to note is that at least two of the three Vongola successors, Timoteo's sons, were also assassinated near the beginning of the manga. (One was shot in a feud, but that could potentially be seen as a cover-up. The other was drowned and another reduced to nothing but bone.) As well as the fact I-pin seems to have been sent to kill what looks like another boss during her introduction chapter, all of this points to the fact that someone was hiring assassins** to take out mafia bosses. Which, I believe this was a plot point hinted at, but it never seemed to have come into fruition. (Unless I'm forgetting something 😅)

**I know Verde isn't an assassin, but he seems to run some type of business or side business where he leaves out assassins who work for him and use the gear and weapons he's invented.

It should also be noted that I don't think that Verde had a hand in any of Timoteo's sons deaths. His method seems to be hiring assassins to inject poison into his targets.

So yeah, I kind of think there is some sort of hinted at future plot point that would have involved Verde. I don't know if he would have been a major antagonist or not. However, I can't help but note that up until Verde was mentioned, both Colonnello and Skull made full appearances. I don't think any other Arcobaleno were mentioned before that, and if nothing was being set up, then it would make more sense for him to make an appearance. Yet, he didn’t. Which further makes me think something was being set up, but it was scraped or forgotten.

Another interesting thing to note about chapter 53 is how unphased Reborn is by that, but in anime (I think in the filler), Reborn does explicitly state not to trust Verde. Yet! During the Rainbow arc, they seem more like typical anime rivals---minus all the fighting, of course. What I mean is, when you read their interactions during the climax of that arc, when everyone has gathered together to defeat Bermuda, they seem a little more friendly towards each other than what the anime has lead me to believe. In the anime, I'm sure Reborn states a few times not to trust Verde. Or that he doesn't.

However, in the manga, right before Verde activates his boss watch, they have a moment where Reborn is like, "But, Verde! You don't fight!" And just does the typical anime rivals scoff and is essentially like "I have an ace up sleeve!" It's very subtle, but oh my gosh, it reads so much like this for me! And of course, when Reborn activates his boss watch on that final fight, Verde just stands next to a robot version of Reborn. Like Verde didn’t have to pretend to TALK to Reborn. He didn’t have to keep up the act. But he did so Tsuna wouldn’t catch on to the fact that "Reborn's friend" was just Reborn's uncursed form. Which is sweet, and they are totally frenemies and---

I'm gonna leave it at that. Hopefully, this all makes sense. I might have a habit of over reading all the Verde parts in the manga, lol 🤣

One day I was scrolling through my old photos from my old desktop and I happened to bump into one photo; an anime that I adored and is very underrated: The Get Backers.

I was looking at the characters and I remember how much Ginji and Ban act together and how much they care for one another. But then, I realized that they kind of remind me of another two pairs of character.

Yup! The closer I look the more I see the resemblance in the character design and even personality.

I’ll go into more details on how they are and why I think it’s very similar. And I’ll also would love for you guys to check out the classic Shonen manga/anime!

Right: Megumi Fushiguro Left: Ban Mido

Ban is one of the main protagonists in the classic series called “The Get Backers”. The power that he has is basically strength like a snake and has really powerful eyes called “The Jagan Eye”. His eyes can create a dream for one minute but can only use it 3 times and has to wait a while 24hrs to use it. He’s very smart when using that power because of the amount time he has. When it comes to fighting in general he is hella smart.

As for Megumi, we all know his powers; shikigamis. Not saying their powers are similar but it’s cool to see they they both involve an animal.

He is one of my favorite characters in the series just like how Megumi is mine in JJK.

I compare them by looks because of the hair, eyes, and even height, but it’s not just that, it’s also the personality as well. Ban is very closed to himself and very logical when it comes to situation. He’s also very observant just like Megumi. Though, I will say that he also reminds me of Gojo a lot but not just by power but also by being arrogant and shit. Basically if Gojo raised Megumi to be more like him, Ban would be the child that Gojo would have raised.

Right: Yuji Itadori Left: Ginji Amano:

Ginji is another one of my favorite character in the series and is also the main protagonist, just like Yuji who is also my favorite! He reminds me of Yuji so much starting from their compassionate personality to even their cute signature faces! His powers contains electricity like a eel.

Now, for their personality it is very very similar. Ginji is the type of person that understands everyone and is very empathetic just like Yuji. He would even try to understand why someone is trying to commit murder or even robbing a store. Another thing is that Ginji gets very angry when a friend is hurt or in danger.

What’s crazy is that Ginji was in a gang. He was actually the most powerful leader and consider to be very dangerous. In theory, he has a “bad side” of him which is cold hearted and again dangerous.

Ginji isn’t the type of person that gives a shit about money (unlike Ban) just as long as they get back something precious from their client; he would even do it for free just to make them happy. He is just that type of guy.

The relationship between Ginji/Ban & Megumi/Yuji:

I know I said that I have never seen two main guys who aren’t your typical rivals and your basic shonen boys other than Megumi and Yuji, but looking back they are literally what Megumi & Yuji can be if they developed more and communicated.

Ban’s & Ginji’s relationship is built on trust and communication, while Megumi’s & Yuji’s is also built on trust & action. I would love to say communication with Yuji and Megumi, but they still need to work on that which I’m very excited to see but they do show it in their action but sometimes you need to speak it out. Unlike Ginji & Ban who shows their trust by action and words.

What I appreciate Ban and Ginji’s trust is that they know that they’re fucking strong/dangerous and they didn’t need anybody to help them since the beginning, but both boys will not hesitate to go and help each other out even if it means to risk their life. I also believe that Megumi and Yuji both acknowledge that their both strong but won’t also hesitate to have each other’s back.

Another thing I love is that if nobody can afford Ban’s and Ginji’s service Ginji wouldn’t hesitate to still offer help. Yes, Ban would disagree and try to convince Ginji that they need but of course money doesn’t matter to Ginji just as long as he can see the customer smile and be happy. And yes, Ban does his service for free because of Ginji’s compassionate ways of helping other’s. They legit changed each other to better each other out from their past. As for Yuji and Megumi, we can see that both of them has changed ever since meeting each other. Both of them inspired each other to better themselves as well.

The Get Backer boys are such the complete opposite of each other but yet they balance each other out perfectly; Ban being the grumpy and lil shit while Ginji is the ray of fucking sunshine. Again, same with Yuji and Megumi; Megumi being the introvert while Yuji being the one who would bring rocks to Megumi. It’s funny because if you guys decide to read/watch The Get Backefs you’ll see that Ginji is very affectionate towards Ban while Ban is more subtle but you’ll see that Ban will hug, smile, laugh, and puts an arm around Ginji becasue well Ginji makes him feel that way. Yuji and Megumi aren’t like that but if they were I have a feeling Yuji would be the one who would put all his affection towards Megumi while Megumi would do things on the dowow but sometimes would compliment Yuji or even hug him. I would like to say that Yuji and Ginji are considered “himbos” but in reality their action pretty fucking smart especially when it comes to strategies in fights.

I mention that Ginji jumps on Ban and everything but he’s affectionate towards everyone but it’s very different when it comes to Ban. I forgot to mention that Ginji also calls Ban but his name but adds “Chan” at the end; “Ban-Chan”. We all know what the “Chan” lol.

Anyway, I would love to explain more but I personally don’t like writing a lot because I actually suck at putting my thoughts into writing.

I do want to say that I wonder if Gege ever watched this series or know about it because again, it is very rare to see two main boys not be rivals. When I watched/read this series it was a breath of fresh air not seeing your typical shonen boys.

I am going to say this: this ain’t a yaoi series, it’s shonen series and it’s actually pretty fucking dark and violent.

BUT

Ginji and Ban are consider canon without saying their canon. No, they do not kiss but you do not need a “make a move” to prove that you’re canon. They’re the blue print (jk lol) of how shonen romance should work because of the development and chemistry that they have. They’re so dramatic they literally can’t be without each other for hours lol. So, honestly, if you want to read a good series with a good health relationship between two boys then please consider it, but I will say you will be in pain.

Another fun fact that I found interesting is that the illustrator of The Get Backers series is also a fan of “boys love” (just how Gege also finds many “boys love” series interesting):

Arisu Kouda (top left) - Trans woman, she/her, lesbian. The de facto leader of the unit, and half-American on her father's side. She earns money for her mother and twin sister by tutoring her classmates at Miyamasuzaka in English.

Noa Ohara (top right) - Trans man, he/him, pan/ace. A very peppy and friendly jock from Kamiyama, he's part-Irish on his mother's side. He relies on his swim team membership to pay his way into higher education in the next two years.

Yugo Toyoda (bottom left) - Cis man, he/him, pansexual. A heartthrob from Kamiyama, he transferred in from France his freshman year. Despite his many admirers, he feels like nobody truly cares about who he really is.

Karin Amano (bottom right) - Cis woman, she/her, bisexual. A kind, caring girl from Kamiyama, her mother is in the military and she moves around between America and Japan a lot. Her smile seems to hide her true feelings.

The Glass Hotel specializes in English-language songs, with a smaller specialization in the more somber and introspective.

Arisu has a strong alto voice, Noa has a very light tenor, Yugo has a somber baritone, and Karin has a breathy soprano.

Their SEKAI is called the Wonderland SEKAI, and takes a lot of inspiration from Alice in Wonderland and its imagery.

Karin has a crush on Arisu, and Yugo is interested in Noa, but neither pair is canonically confirmed. Any other interactions would reveal that Noa has a small crush on An, Yugo thinks that both Akito and Touya are cute, and that Karin has a crush on Mizuki.

Their patron Virtual Singer is Luka, and the next to enter their domain would be Len.

I don't have any particular songs in mind for them, but I imagine that they would cover some of the lighter GHOST songs, some Circus-P songs, and maybe even a few Creep-P/Eyeris songs!

And by “normal” I mean another chaotic day or maybe even more chaotic than usual.

Students running for their lives, paint and food splatters everywhere, toilet paper, eggs cracked, and the school...err...damaged.

In the school’s courtyard, two figures stood in front each other’s way.

“I’m a better prankster than you!” Shoichi proclaimed.

“Nuh uh! I’m way better prankster than you!” Karlin proclaimed as well.

“You only have one banana cream pie left,” Shoichi pointed out.

“So do you!” Karlin said.

“Let’s settle this once and for all!”

“Agreed!”

How this all began well...

“Hiya, Karlin!” Shoichi greeted Karlin.

“What’s up, Dwight?” Karlin asked, smirking. She knows fully well that Shoichi doesn’t want to be called Dwight despite everyone knowing now that he’s originally here from Twisted Wonderland and that his real name is Dwight Kensington.

“You really love pushing my buttons, don’t you?” Shoichi said, smiling innocently.

“Duh! Obviously,”Karlin said, smiling innocently.

Sparks are flying between these two. They may look innocent but deep inside, they want rip the throats of one another.

The intense atmosphere around them got more intense when an egg was drop right in front of Karlin.

“Oh I see where this is going,” Karlin said,

“Whatever are you talking about?” Dwight asked innocently.

“That’s not going to work on me,” Karlin said as she turned around to walk away.

Shoichi smirked as a dozen of eggs fell and cracked on Karlin. He laughed at her, “You fell for it!”

Karlin got annoyed and threw the excess or at least the egg whites and egg yolks spilling on her hair at Shoichi, hitting him square in the face.

The two have a stare off as sparks fly between them.

“It’s on now!”

Day 1 of Prank War (Lunch)

Shoichi kept his guard up during lunch time, knowing that he’ll get pranked. Karlin, on the other hand, disguised herself as a staff in the cafeteria. Shoichi noticed Karlin in disguise and smirked.

‘Too obvious’ He thought, walking normally and ordered, “One plate of spaghetti and meatballs accompanied by apple juice please.”

“Coming right up!” Karlin replied in a weird tone as she put an odorless hot sauce onto his meal and replaced his apple juice with an odorless vinegar and gave him his tray, “Here you go. A special meal for a special boy.”

“Thanks,” Shoichi thanked Karlin.

Karlin giggled as she watched Shoichi walked towards a table. Then her eyes widened when Karlin noticed a certain familiar person.

“Here you go, Maridel,” Shoichi said as he gave Maridel the tray.

“Thank you,” Maridel thanked Shoichi as she took her bite. Shoichi looked at her direction and smirked as he walked away from the table.

‘Of course you won’t make that easy’ Karlin smirked while watching Maridel’s suffering from afar.

Day 2 of Prank War (Dismissal Time)

Knowing her schedule, Shoichi asked Bella’s help once more and made the water float using the pixie dust from her wings. The water was floating near the door frame. He also knows where she is seated so he knows the exact minutes and seconds that Karlin will take to arrive in the doorway. 

Suddenly, the door opened, revealing the students leaving the classroom. So Shoichi hid behind a pillar, and timed a timer from his smartphone. 

A few minutes have passed and Karlin wasn’t coming out yet. Impatient enough, Shoichi walked inside the classroom to see a smirking Karlin and Maridel.

“It’s payback time for earlier,” Maridel said.

Shoichi raised his eyebrow, “What are you talking about?”

Karlin giggled, “You forgot your own prank.”

Yup. He completely did. He looked at his timer to see that the pixie dust on the water was almost gone.

“Oh no.”

The water rained on him, making him drenched in it. The two girls laughed, “Serves you right!”

Then the two walked away.

“That was one of your weakest prank, Shoichi,” Bella said as she fly towards him.

“Too true,” Shoichi admitted.

How she knows this, Karlin knows Shoichi well enough to at least predict his kove and enlisted Maridel’s help in which she agreed.

Day 3 of Prank War (Laboratory Class)

Coincidentally, Shoichi and Karlin have the same lab classes. The two have a plan in mind to mess things up for one another.

While Karlin was distracted, Shoichi messed up the potion she was making by adding ingredients. Karlin, on the other hand, was ready to use her magic to conjure a small fireball to add more temperature, knowing that the potion Shoichi is making must be at a certain temperature so it would not explode.

The two waited for their pranks to work. What the two didn’t know is they pranked the wrong target. The reason...the two were thinking alike. They tricked each other to prank the wrong person.

“Now to add this,” Deuce mumbled as he added an ingredient in the flask. When it started to shake uncontrollably, “What the-”

Too late! It exploded right on his face. At least he was wearing his goggles.

At the same time, Haru was about to remove the concoction out of the fire when suddenly it exploded as well. Ashes and smoke adorned her face. A tick mark appeared on her forehead, thinking that a certain best friend of hers did this to her.

“Shoichi Kazama!”

Shoichi and Karlin looked at each other and smirked

Day 4 of Prank War (Weekend)

Shoichi planned to be straightforward this time, knowing Karlin’s schedule during the weekends once more.

He already has a pie on hand as he waited right in front of the door of Deathview which is Karlin’s dorm.

A few minutes later, the door opened. As soon as it opened, Shoichi smashed the pie on the person’s face.

Shoichi laughed and said, “Take that, sucker!”

“I’m afraid to say it but you’ve got the wrong person.”

The person that he pranked was Alannis. She removed the cream on her face while Karlin laughed.

“Hahaha! Is that the best you’ve got?” Karlin asked.

“Of course not!” Shoichi answered with determination.

“Maridel!” Karlin called out.

“You got it!” Maridel giggled as a bucket of glue plus feathers started to rain.

“Oh darn,” Shoichi groaned as he got hit by the contents.

“You’re missing something,” Karlin said as she added a cone hat, covering his mouth, “Now you look like a chicken!”

Shoichi sighed, “Fine. You win. Bell!”

Bella pushed the floating box right to Shoichi.

“Here, a peace offering,” He grabbed the box and handed it to Karlin.

Without a second thought, Karlin opened the box onle to be met by paint balloons on her face. Shoichi laughed and rolled on the floor.

“You’re so going to pay, Dwight!”

“Stop calling me that!”

For the next three days, chaos was unleashed. Every student and staff got caught in a crossfire between the war of Shoichi and Karlin.

Ace and Deuce got stuck on a bench, Riddle’s skin turned red not of angerment but because of a concoction that he accidentally intake, Ruggie looking like a mummy, Vil with a clown make up, Kalim’s butt was set on fire, Azul turning into a child physically, Professor Crewel’s fur coat got burnt, Grim suffered because of ghost peppers, Leona looking like he was blown by a storm, Sebek looking like some sort of art because of the paint splattered all over him and so on and so forth which brings us to this moment...

Day 7 of Prank War (Finale)

“Nuh uh! I’m way better prankster than you!” Karlin proclaimed as well.

“You only have one banana cream pie left,” Shoichi pointed out.

“So do you!” Karlin said.

“Let’s settle this once and for all!”

“Agreed!”

The two run towards each other to smash the pie on each other’s faces. 

“Wah!”

“Yah!”

The two collide and smashed it on each other’s faces as they fell on the ground.

“I’m now tired,” Shoichi said, panting.

“Same here,” Karlin said.

“Truce?”

“Yeah,” The two stand up and shook hands.

“Man, that was one awesome prank war!” Shoichi exclaimed.

“Yup,” Karlin smiled.

“Mr. Dwight Kensington, Ms. Karlin Blackwell!” 

They turned around to see Headmaster Crowley angry.

“You two are...”, Crowley rant about the damage they’ve done, the school being a mess and so on and so forth that the two didn’t hear anything he’s saying.

“What should we do?” Shoichi asked Karlin.

Karlin giggled, “Leave it to me.” She brought her magic pen out and waved it at Headmaster Crowley, “Sweet One!”

Crowley’s expression changed, “Oh my! The school is a mess! No matter! I’ll clean the school up and not make you two pay for all the damages. I’ll do all the work!”

Shoichi recorded it for assurance.

“You’re the best, Karlin!”

BONUS SCENE:

“Wah!” Shoichi cried under the cauldron which Haru asked Deuce to do so.

“Why am I included?” Karlin asked, trapped under the cauldron.

“You guys should know the reason,” Haru glared while the other students laughed at their misery.

“Haru can be quite terrifying,” Jack whispered to Ace.

“Yeah. Remind me not to get on her bad side,” Ace whispered back as he watches Haru whacking Shoichi and Karlin with a notebook.

The hallway that Shoto led the siblings to was empty, and slightly cold even though it was about to enter summer time.

The lights weren’t on, the only light that one can receive there was from the blazing sun above as noon arrived.

The atmosphere of the conversation was clearly dominated by Shoto, as he pointed out points that Izuku was afraid that he would find out the truth.

“Midoriya…”Shoto began seriously, as he stared into the poor boy’s soul.

“Are you… All Might’s secret child?”

…

…

…

“Pfft…”

The one who broke the awkward silence was Miyu, she didn’t want to sound rude, but she just couldn’t hold back.

And that, turned into a fit of giggles that made the girl’s stomach ache.

“Hahaha… Izu-nii, secret child! He said you’re All Might’s secret child… Hahaha…”

Confused at Miyu’s reaction, Shoto turned to the boy for answers.

“Judging by her reaction, I guess you are not?”

“Of course we’re not in that kind of relationship, after all…”

“‘That kind of relationship’? So does that mean that you do have a relationship with him?”

“!!”

Miyu stopped laughing as she heard that line, she knew the importance of keeping her brother’s secret. It could cost her brother’s life.

“What do you intend to do, once you know?”Izuku tested.

“I’m not interested in it, but if you have any connection with the number one hero, then I have even more reason to defeat you.”

“What does this have to do with me?”Miyu asked, knowing that Tokoyami and Dark Shadow were waiting her in the cafeteria.

“Because I think you have the right to know, Miyu…”

The boy told his tale.

His father was a horrible man, who forced his mother into quirk marriage.

And he, Todoroki Shoto, was born as a tool, to surpass All Might, his father’s impossible dream.

Through intense training since young age, grown up away from his older siblings, the boy hated it all.

And all of that, drove her mother insane.

He vowed to not use his left side in combat, and to completely disapprove of his father’s actions.

It was a tragic tale.

One that made Midoriya Izuku left in shock.

But Kamikaze Miyuki on the other hand, thought that it was a complete insult.

“What…? Do you suppose that we’ll let you win just because like that?”

“Miyu-chan?”

“Did you just treat what I said earlier as nothing, Shoto? We’re here to win, you know!?”

“…”

“I want to win, in order to thank the person that gave me everything…”

“To show him what he had taught me, utilise it well and to reach his expectations!!”

“That’s what I want! The most selfish thing I want right now!”

…

The girl’s outburst shocked both of the boys, the girl was never the type to show her emotions.

“That’s why I can’t afford to lose, Shoto… I’m sorry, but I am not your hero… That is a problem that you have to tell somebody else about… If you don’t tell anyone about it, then nothing will be solved, you know?” Miyu told the boy as she walked towards the exit.

“Also, forgive me for saying this… But…”

“I envy you, at least your parents don’t hate you…”

With that the girl left, leaving without a trace as the two boys were stunned by her last words.

“Hate…?”

“Ah! Miyu-chan’s parents had always been busy at work since she was young so they were barely at home!”Izuku explained as he realised the boy’s confusion.

“Though… It’s the first time that I heard Miyu-chan saying that her parents hate her… Did Hotaru-san and Mikage-san did something wrong…?”

“...”

“Anyways, Todoroki-kun, as lame as it sounds, my reasons are the same as Miyu-chan… I have to reach the expectations of those who helped me to get here…”Izuku began as he gripped his hand.

“Which is the reason why, I will be aiming for the win as well!”

…

“I see…”

As their declarations of war had been made, the two boys left the hallway lit up by the sunlight, leaving another, unknown in the shadows.

He overheard everything, he followed them as soon as icy hot asked Miyu to talk.

Sure, he was still bummed about getting second place, but seeing the happy face of the girl he has a crush on was more than enough to compensate for it.

And yet here he was, overhearing the fact that the very same girl said that her parents hate her.

Kamikaze Hotaru and Kamikaze Mikage, Bakugou Katsuki hadn’t met them too many times in his life despite the three of them being childhood friends.

Yet whenever he sees them, he could tell from a mile away that something was wrong about their aura.  

“My my, to think that the Bakugou Katsuki has reduced to the state of overhearing other people’s conversations, how ironic…” A familiar voice taunted, making the male’s eyebrows twitch in annoyance as he knew who it was.

“Senpai… Just what the hell are you doing here?”

“What? I just decided to greet you guys and congratulate you all on doing a great job… Is there something wrong with that?”

“Like hell I want that, besides! What the hell happened, you seem a bit out of place…”

Tsubaki stared at the boy, clearly fascinated at the fact that he noticed.

“Well… Long story short, they decided to ban me from floating…”

…

And with just that, it left Bakugou Katsuki cackling like crazy.

“Serves you right, you damn ice reaper!”

“Shut up, I don’t want to here it from you! And be respectful to your seniors.”

...

“By the way, I was thinking about changing my hair style…”

“If you want to change it, then change it by yourself!”

“Hey, this is serious here, a girl changing her image is super important after all.”

“Huh? As if I would to hear it from a tomboy like you!”

Ignoring his complaints, Tsubaki held onto some pieces of her hair.

“I used to never tie up any parts of my hair before… Do you know why I decided to do it?”

…

“I was imitating my sister… As somebody who was suppose to fill her spot, I wanted to remind myself I must do what they were expecting of her…”

“And yet… I understood that I couldn’t completely become her, not even herself, which is the reason why I didn’t tie up all my hair… And every time, he seems to be reminded by the fact that I’m troubled because of the past…”

“So you don’t want to make them worry anymore? Especially for that boyfriend of yours?”Katsuki guesses, making Tsubaki flinch.

…

“I don’t want to be bounded by my chains anymore…”

“Then do it, like I care.”

…

“You’re close to icy hot, right? You knew about his condition?”

“My, are you getting soft? Yeah, what of it?”

Katsuki turned to the side to stare at his upperclassmen.

“And you did nothing?”

“More like, I don’t have the right to do it.”

“?”

“I don’t have a complete family nor childhood in the first place... And besides, if a relationship were to only be fixed because I intervened, does it mean that it wasn’t supposed to be fixed in the first place? As much as I can give advice to somebody upon what they should do, I have no right to fully intervene, because that is wrong...”

“...”

“What is right and wrong, there was never a correct answer... The laws of the society are based on if they’re humane or not... As lame as it sounds...”

“But Bakugou... I didn’t came here for chit chat...”

That sentence alarmed the boy, he didn’t know why, but he could feel it.

Tsubaki stopped leaning against the wall as she recomposed herself as she stood straight, looking into the boy’s eyes.

The pressure, the intensity.

Bakugou Katsuki knew that his senior was serious.

Dead serious.

Amaka Tsubaki was known as the second top hero who seemed to have a crazed aura in Japan, due to the fact she seems to enjoy people suffer.

But that’s not just it.

She, without a doubt is a reaper.

Her bloodlust, can easily overpower any top tier villain.

It was as if the oxygen in the air lessened.

The boy cannot find himself dare to move.

Nor did his body allowed him to.

“Bakugou Katsuki, I will ask you once again...”

“If you have to choose between Kamikaze Miyuki and your ambition of becoming the number one hero...”

“Which one will you choose...?”

If you had to ask Shinsou Hitoshi to describe Amano Azaka, it would be a difficult task for him.

The girl wasn’t entirely mysterious, but it was quite hard for him to predict her reactions.

The two had went on a few dates, mostly involving cat cafes.

As much as the boy would love to bring Azaka on a cycling trip, it seemed disrespecting her because of the girl’s body condition.

Azaka texted him to meet at the woods near the stadium, where she had made a picnic for the two of them. In order to show how good are her housewife techniques, she said. Which made the male blush so hard that steam was coming from his face.

He was grateful that she said it over a text, or else the girl will tease the hell out of him.

As he arrived at the spot and saw the scenery in front of him, he could feel himself falling for the girl all over again.

Amano Azaka had been wearing other outfits out of her maid uniform during other dates, but the purple knitted turtleneck looked really good on her as Sushi was minding its own business

Shinsou Hitoshi never believed in love in first sight, heck, he never thought that he would even be in a relationship.

But seeing this, he was really glad he did.

“Hitoshi-kun, what’s wrong?”

The boy snapped out of his thoughts as he heard his name being called.

“Ah, it’s nothing... I just... Never saw you in that outfit...”

Hearing that, Azaka let out a smirk as she moved to a position where she hugged her legs while looking at the boy.

“Well, I did bought it for the occasion... What do you think of it?”

“Umm...”

The relationship between Amano Azaka and Shinsou Hitoshi was always a fight for dominance. One which the boy found himself lose pretty often.

As proof, a pink blush dusted his cheeks as he tried to look away.

“It really suits you... Yeah...”

And unexpectedly, the boy was being honest.

“But uhh... Don’t you feel hot in it...?”

“Did you forget? I don’t move much, so no, it’s fine!” Azaka replied with a smile as she poured out the tea from the bottle.

Hitoshi then settled himself down.

“Sorry for making you make all of this for me...”

“What are you saying, Hitoshi-kun?��Azaka asked with a pout. “This is the least that I can do for you since you refused to let me pay for any of our dates...”

The boy then scratched the back of his neck nervously as Sushi rolled around on the grass, licking itself.

“So uh... How do you think I did...?”

Azaka looked at the boy for a bit before replying.

“How? Well, you did great!”

“That’s it?”

“What? You want me to praise you even more, Hitoshi-kun?”

“N-No... That’s not it...”

“I’m kidding, so relax for a bit...”Azaka reassured as she returned to laying out the food she made.

“You did what I would have done if I was in your place, utilising your quirk without gaining too much attention, your quirk’s activation requirement is quite strict after all...”The girl explained before letting out a bright smile.

“So leaving your trump card to the very end is super important! You did well!”

“... Thanks...”

“You’re welcome.”

Hitoshi turned to see what kind of shenanigans that the cat was up to before taking a bite of one of the onigiris that Azaka made.

There was a piece of seasoned beef in it, and the salt was perfectly mixed with the rice, Hitoshi knew that Azaka did a splendid job at making them.

“You literally nailed these…”

“Is that so? I’m glad~ You need all the strength you need later, so do eat up~”

“Yeah… I’ll do everything I can…”

With the smile that the boy left out as he continued to enjoy what he had, both of them didn’t realise that some members of Hitoshi’s class were hiding in a few bushes, spying on their picnic.

“See! I knew that something was up with Shinsou! And it turns out that he has a girlfriend! And he doesn’t plan to tell us!”

“Not to mention a really beautiful person…”

“I bet that cat is the reason behind it.”

Sushi yawned, despite hearing the whispers of Hitoshi’s classmates.

As long as they do not get in the way of their picnic date, Sushi didn’t had the intention to alert the girl that it was looking after along with the boy she likes.

The boy and his quirk turned to see the said girl arriving at their table with a tray in her hands, carrying the promised food and her own lunch, which turned out to be a bowl of beef udon.

“You’re so slow!”Dark Shadow complained, clearly couldn’t wait for his yakisoba bread.

“Dark Shadow, show some respect…”Fumikage scolded.

“Why should I?”

“Because she literally wiped the floor with you?”

“…Tch, whatever, Fumikage…”Dark Shadow grumbles as it stuffed the food into its mouth.

Fumikage could only sigh at his quirk’s behaviour as he looked at the shadow scarfing down the food, well, that it before he realised that the girl sitting next to him, had her eyes shining in wonder.

“Miyu…?”

“Hey, Tokoyami-kun, where does the food that Dark Shadow eat go? Into you? Or does to transfer into its own energy or something?”

“As you had said, he converts to its own energy source, thus strengthening himself to become a much more stronger being of darkness...”

“Oh!!! That’s so cool! It’s as if that Dark Shadow is your, uh… What did they call it in anime…? Fa… Fa…”

“Do you perhaps mean, familiar?”

“Yeah! That’s it! A subordinate you can always count on, that’s so cool!”

“Well, I have to agree that Dark Shadow is like my familiar…” Fumikage trailed as he nodded.

“Me and Fumikage together are the strongest together after all!” Dark Shadow agreed.

‘Dark Shadow is like a child… It’s kinda cute…’

“By the way, Tokoyami, what’s your favourite food?”

“That would be apples.”

“Oh! I like strawberry parfaits the most!”

“I see, and may I know the reason behind of your sweet tooth?”

“Well… It’s actually what I ate when I first met Shishou… He paid for me and it was the first time I tried it…”Miyu trailed as her cheeks heat up a bit as she was reminded of the nostalgic memory.

“I see… So the memories for upmost importance was the reason behind it… Truly, this is quite beautiful…”

“Well, for me, all it matters is that it’s tasty!”Dark Shadow added cheerfully.

“By the way, Miyu…”Fumikage began as Miyu slurped her udon.

“What is it?”

“I was wondering about your fighting style… Where do you get the inspiration from? Or did your mentor taught you those moves?”

Miyu nearly choked on the udon, alarmed, Dark Shadow pats the girl in the back.

“Miyu! Are you alright?”

“Eh…Well… You see…”Miyu trailed as she tried to turn her gaze away.

“I-It’s anime…”

“Please don’t judge me!”Miyu exclaimed as she went under the table, hiding herself in a curled up position out of embarrassment.

Fumikage let out a cough due to the awkwardness in the air.

“Really?! What do you watch?”

“I favour darker titles, but the world building of The Ancient Magus’ Bride and the Fate series fascinates me…”

“Oh!!! I also watched Fate! Only UBW, Heaven’s Feel and Zero so far though…”

‘But…’Fumikage hesitated as he realised in the core of the aura, there was something… He couldn’t put his finger onto it.

‘She’s hiding something… No… But rather suppressing it…?’

Tsukauchi Naomasa was quite a diligent officer, in the past he has solved cases that are related to some of the most dangerous drugs that appeared in the superhuman society.

But no matter how diligent the officers of Japan are, they would still lack the time to gather or search up the information that they need which are considered confidential, recorded long ago or just lack the numbers.

There’s were the Amaka Family-The Inner Side of the Hero Society come to place. They are the supervisor of the Hero Network, as well as the ones who input some of the most general information onto it. Thus, their job is to collect info all over the country, and share it to the heroes and the police.

But of course, such service isn’t for free, the organisation need to run on money as well. But it usually isn’t payment that the Amaka Family demands, at least not straightforwardly.

For an example, a pro hero wishes for an info, which the organisation gives, in return, they have to agree to whatever team up mission organisation has, and the organisation will gain the full amount of payment from the government for completing the mission. It differs upon how important is the information to see how they have to pay back.

This is one of the reasons that Shouta calls her a mafia boss.

There are also personal favours, but they are only allowed for Amaka Tsubaki, the current leader of the organisation. To give info to those she is close to and trust, people such as Sir. Nighteye, who she is indebted of is an example. All Might on the other hand, being the Symbol of Peace has its perks, not only because the two know each other, but the importance as the counter force role that All Might plays.

The Hero Commission, which Tsubaki would always rant about to Naomasa about how they would call her in the middle of class, which she specifically told them not to disturb her during school hours do have a certain authority over the organisation since they allow them to have such activity, but it’s only to a certain degree due to how well-known the organisation is by the public.

Yet Tsubaki isn’t that close to too much people, and with the payment being that strict, most heroes and police officers wouldn’t require assistance from the organisation even when it puts them to a disadvantage.

Naomasa, however, was different, All Might, his friend had introduced him to her five years ago during all the Trigger Incident going on.

The girl had already earned her International License and had raided the source at China, but she let some of them get away, making her quite salty at the incident.

Naomasa by then couldn’t believe that the current leader of the Amaka Family is just a 11-year-old girl, she acted much more older than she was suppose to be, and she was a total genius, a capable fighter who was above 70% pro heroes.

This is the Hero Society, things like this happen. And yet, he couldn’t help but worry for the girl. At such a young age, she already stepped onto the path of heroes, she barely got any time to enjoy her days as a child.

And when he realised that the girl faked the number of cases she solved, making the total number lesser than she had completed, he asked her of her intentions.

‘I hate the attention, besides, if I stand out too much, it will be much more harder for me to do my job in the inner side of society.’

An answer unfitting of a child, but Naomasa knew that he couldn’t do anything about it.  

He knew of her past, the reason why she became the sacrificial lamb for this society.

And back then, she asked for his help, in order to save a girl who had a similar situation as she had in the past.

Was it possible that he can refuse…?

No, he didn’t think so.

As the man run down the hallways of the stadium while trying to find Miyu’s parents along with his assistant Sansa, who went his separate way in order to cover more ground.

But even with that, the entire stadium was huge, it’s perimeter is 4 kilometres, not to mention having multiple floors. But they only have to worry about the stadium and the entrance road since only alumnus, students and teachers can enter the main building, and there was no reason for them to be at the second and third year stage.

But as he continued his search, he couldn’t help but remember what he and Sansa found out during their investigations.

They had already given the evidence they have to the court, and now all they have to do, is to catch them red-handed.

They picked the time that they were sure that the Kamikazes are away from home and won’t be back for hours. They picked the lock and entered silently.

They lived in a normal Japanese Apartment Complex, nothing toi out of picture.

The house was dark, like literally, they haven’t had the curtains open, and it somehow reeked of some smell that you can find in labs.

It was way too quiet.

This was an investigation not allowed by the government, it could be considered as breaking and entering. However, Tsubaki made a point, if they were to be discovered or go in with an investigation permit, Miyu could be considered as a hostage, and in order to protect her, this must be done in secrecy.

“Sansa, be sure not too touch anything, we cannot leave any trace of us being here, so only take photos as evidence.”

“Roger, nya!”

The two entered the hallway, on the right, it seemed to be a storage room, not wanting to miss out anything, Sansa opened the door of it, inside, there were shacks filled with junk of all kind.

The oxygen in the place was so little due to the fact that there were no windows or whatsoever, Sansa could feel himself sneezing just because of the lack of fresh air.

But what then caught his attention was an extremely thin blanket and old pillow on the floor. The blanket was put away as if the person using it was in a rush, not to mention it’s small size, a normal teenager would have to curl up in order to be completely cover the body except for the head.

‘You’re not telling me…’

Sansa shook the thought out of his mind, his instincts told him what it meant but he didn’t want to believe it.

Next, was the kitchen. The sink and stove don’t seem to be used at all, meanwhile, the fridge was filled with can food or frozen ones, the microwave seems to be the solution to that. It was extremely small, and the rubbish bin was full of garbage, it seems that they haven’t emptied it quite a while.  

There were foam, plastic lunchboxes and such, as well as wooden chopsticks and plastic spoons and forks. That explains why the sink was barely used at all.

There wasn’t anything suspicious here, so they moved on.

Next was the bathroom, nothing out of ordinary.

The two officers then realise that they are only two rooms left, alarming them about what they saw in the storage room.

They opened the door on the left, which appea RSS to be the master bedroom, which contained a queen size bed, two connected work desks and a few wardrobes. Finding nothing suspicious here, they finally decided to enter the final room.

Naomasa and Sansa could both feel the tension and eerie aura coming from the room, they didn’t know what it was, but they had to finish their job.

When the door creaked open, the two men were left immobilised.

The room’s structure seemed to be meant to be a living room.

However the contents inside, were clearly not for its original purpose.

The room was dark, like every single room, however, the creepy blue and green neon light was shone onto their bodies.

The light’s source was a tank, a tank filled with unknown liquid substance that both of the officer’s instincts told them that it was bad, extremely bad.

And connected to the tank, were cables, wires of all kind, messily plugged into the machines right next to it.

The entire room was messy, papers are placed everywhere, memos filled the walls. Unwashed coffee-stained mugs, leftovers in lunchboxes…

Human experimentation.

Snowdrop had already explained it to them, they were readied for this, but…

It was just too much to take in.

Once you work in positions like these in the hero society, you will realise that things aren’t as bright as you thought it would be.

The darker side of this seemingly working system that this society runs under.

“…”

Inhumane, yes, but both men can feel that their inner morals were being tested here.

And the evidences-notes, memos, paper’s scattered all around the room didn’t help with their inner struggles at all.

At the newest entry of the notebook, taken the day before, Sansa knew that it was enough to make him snap.

Another failure. This time, it made the subject puke all over the floor. It went on for 3 hours. Subject’s stamina was totally drained. The subject’s quirk genes had been rejecting whatever was trying to tampering it… It seems that we have to inject her with even more in the next experiment.

Irritated at her silence, Katsuki stomped his way towards her as he pulled her gym uniform collar, threatening her with his face close to hers.

The two were the same height, Katsuki’s expression was of nothing but rage.

“Oi!! Don’t ignore me!! If you’re going to ask me that shit again, then tell me what the hell is going on-”

Bakugou Katsuki cut himself off as he let go of her collar while letting out a gasp of fear.

That’s right.

The Bakugou Katsuki was intimidated.

The look on his senior’s face screamed absolute murder as the male took a step back.

Those pupils of hers lost all the light that illuminated it.

They glared into the very soul of his.

The bloodlust coming from the girl might rival the times that the boy had seen her fight top tier villains on television before.

Death.

The very embodiment of that concept.

Bakugou Katsuki could feel himself trembling uncontrollably.

Who wouldn’t?

Like hell, even All Might would be scared shitless if he was in his position.

The reaper slowly widen her mouth, her expression and aura unchanging.

“I have no right to tell you.”

Katsuki could feel the tension as the silence went on between them.

Tsubaki then turned away as she silently walked away.

Katsuki wanted to stop her, he wanted to have the courage to step out to ask her what is so important that made her act like that.  

Why she needed his answer? Does this have something to do with Miyu?

Out of his fear, he managed to mumble out a question loud enough for the girl to hear.

“Is there something wrong with Miyu…?”

Her footsteps did not stop, nor did they slowed down.

But she answered in her slightly more normal voice that she could muster at the moment.

“Who knows? Since you’re her childhood friend, shouldn’t you know something?”

With that, she completely left his eyesight.

That’s right.

If something’s wrong with Miyu, then the person who knows what’s going on.

It’s going to be him, right?

Tsubaki walked away with a heavy heart.

‘I’m sorry, Bakugou, but like Shoto’s case, I have no right to directly involve in your relationship… But still… It doesn’t mean that I can just stand here and see Miyu continue to suffer…’

‘From your words back there, I know now, you have no idea what is going on with that girl… I mean, that girl did try her best to hide it for all these years…’

‘All the pieces are in place, all that is left is the catch the culprit…’

‘Yet our conditions to victory are to not cause a commotion while catching them… Me, being the centre of attention, if I have any suspicious moves, then it’s game over…Tsukauchi-kun, Sansa-san… I’m leaving it to you… I have already done what I can…’

Tsubaki then stopped as she turned to enter the girl’s bathroom.

‘Bakugou… No, also Midoriya… The both of you will feel guilty, for sure, after all, the girl that had grown up along you has been going through all that pain… Yet both of you haven’t realise it, not to mention you two are aspiring heroes… You will definitely be hard on yourselves…’

‘But please do not blame yourselves… After all, that girl is only able to live to see this day…’

It was Momo, along with Kyouka. The two were curious towards what the two were talking about so they wanted to join in.

“Sure!”

As they seated, Kyouka can no longer hold her curiosity.

“So, what are you two talking about?

“Ah, well not much…”

“We were talking about our moves! That beam of hers hurt a lot, ya know?”Dark Shadow came into the rescue with an enthusiastic tone.

“Really…?”

“By the way! About the Amaka Sisters! Who do you root more for?”Miyu, realising that Dark Shadow’s plan didn’t work and blabbered our the first thing that popped out of her mind.

“It’s definitely Lavender for me! Her songs are just the best!”Kyouka declared as she played with her earphone jacks.

“That’s right! Lavender-san’s voice is so beautiful, sometimes I can’t…” Miyu trailed dreamily at the topic of her idol.

“As much as I admire Tsubaki-senpai for her fighting skills, but for personal reasons, I would also choose Lavender, her story has really inspired me a lot after all…”Momo trailed.

“My heart will always be with the goddess of death.”Fumikage declared without a doubt.

“Oh! Mind telling us why?”Kyouka asked.

With the atmosphere like this, Miyu couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

“But seriously though, the Amaka family is filled with heroes with very interesting quirks…”Momo pointed out.

“Hmm? Like what?”

“The Amane Family’s Constellation quirk, their powers are based on the constellation they represent.”

“Oh!!! That sounds so cool!”

“Amajiki-senpai’s Manifest, and Kotaro-san’s Nullification… All of them have such great quirks…”Momo trailed dreamily.

The Amaka Family is one of the most famous hero lineages of Japan, if someone doesn’t know about them, they had to be living under a rock.

Imagine their surprise when Tsubaki showed up in their classroom.

“Hey, Jiro, Yaomomo, Miyu, Tokoyami!” A voice called out to them, making them all turn to see who it is.

It was none other than Denki, along with Mineta who tagged along.

“What’s the matter?”

“Not sure if you heard, but…”Denki trailed as he pointed to the direction where Fumikage and Dark Shadow would describe as the dazzling sun.

“Aizawa-sensei wanted us to remind you that after lunch, all the girls have to change into those cheerleader uniforms.”

“Is that so, I haven’t heard such a thing from Aizawa-sensei…”

Kyouka immediately flinched as she saw the amount of skin that the girls were wearing that orange outfit were showing.

“You’re serious?!”

“Decide on your own if you’re going to believe it or not, we’re just here delivering the message.”

As the fiasco went on, Fumikage realised how quiet Miyu was.

“Miyu?”

Now, there are a few ways that this can play out.

First, Miyu, not wanting people to see her scars would absolutely deny with all her might to wear that outfit.

Second, she would still wear long sleeves underneath.

Both choices might lead up suspicion, but of course, the last one would be-

“Denki-kun, Mineta-kun…”Miyu mumbled, making the two males jolt at her tone.

“Y-Yes?!”

“Are you trying to make a fool of ourselves?”

“W-What in the world do you mean, Miyu-chan…?”

“Information is the key to victory, so of course, I looked up to the school’s website to see if there were any clues for the events…”Miyu began “And one of the scheduled events is that the cheerleaders from America would cheer us on during the Recreation time…”

“And not all the female students.”

“We’re so sorry!!!!!”

The two, being the cowards they are, ran off as they screamed their apologies.

Here, you may have thought that Miyu would had been worried about showing her skin, but in reality, logic is what truly matters in her mind.

You may call her dense when it comes to the very logic of the world, but it doesn’t apply to her massive imagination and her amazement towards the unscientific world.

“Logic runs first, eh? Not bad, Miyu-chan…” A familiar voice called out.

“Awata-san! That means…”

“As you said, Miyu, information is indeed a strong weapon, it is capable of turning the tables in a fight,”

“Shishou!”Miyu exclaimed as her eyes shined as she leaped to her mentor for a hug.

“however, it doesn’t mean that you can act so reckless.”

“Ouch!”Miyu exclaimed as she cover her forehead where her mentor flicked. It stung, a visible red mark was there, but it seemed that it will disappear real soon.  

“Shishou! What was that for?!” Miyu complained before she was cut off as her mentor spoke up.

“Even if you understand the numbers, it doesn’t mean that you should make the risk of straining your brain without succeeding back there!”

“Shishou, you’re being mean, I just wanted a hug and the first thing you reward me with is a flick on the head...”Miyu pouted as she tried to not to meet his eyes.

“Miyu,” Nighteye called out, catching the girl’s attention, before engulfing her in a bear hug as he crouched down due to their huge height difference.

“Please promise me that you won’t use that move ever again until your brain can handle its calculation... I don’t wish to see you get hurt, nonetheless because of yourself...”

Miyu remained speechless for a few moments, it was rare to see Nighteye act like this, he has been trying to be more clear with his feelings, but to think that he would do this in public, it really caught her off guard.

From her surprised expression, a small smile replaced it as Miyu returned the hug.

“Understood, Shishou... I’ll make sure that I won’t make you worry from now on...”

“My my, these two are acting like father and daughter even more day by day... Sir~ Do you want me to get the adoption papers for you~?” Bubble Girl teased as Centipeder looked at the scene in front of him tenderly.

“A-Awata-san!! What are you-”

“What, Miyu-chan~? No use in lying, you want Sir to be your dad, right~?”

“Don’t say that kind of embarrassing things in front of other people!!!”

“Ah, she didn’t deny it...”

As the chaos went on, Fumikage, Dark Shadow, Momo and Kyouka were all way too confused to even react to what’s going on.

“Miyuki-san’s mentor...”Momo trailed.

“-Is Sir. Nighteye, All Might’s former sidekick??!!”Kyouka exclaimed in disbelief as Fumikage rendered speechless.

“Ihihihihi... That explains why the hell she is that strong!”Dark Shadow commented cheerfully.

Nighteye then let out a cough before repositioning himself.

“Everyone, I thank you for being friends with my apprentice.”

“No, the pleasure was ours! Miyuki-san is a really capable person, we’re blessed to have her as our friend!”Momo replied.

“That’s right!” Kyouka agreed with a smile on her face.

“Indeed, she is a really worthy opponent and ally....”Fumikage added with a nod.

With a smile on her face, Miyu turned to Nighteye once again.

“Then Shishou, allow me to introduce you to my other classmates~”

As these events played out, Katsuki was near the entrance of the cafeteria.

Could the girl be actually hiding something behind that sweet and innocent smile of hers?

He checked the clock on his phone once again, it had been over 10 minutes that Tsubaki was gone, saying that she had a phone call to take.

He didn’t mind waiting, after all, he wanted to snuggle up to her for a bit before grabbing lunch at the cafeteria.

It was true, the audience at the third year stage wasn’t as much compared to last years.

However, it didn’t eased his nerves at all. People were people after all.

The door of the locker room creaked open, making him turn to see who it was.

“Oh, Tamaki-kun! Are you perhaps waiting for Tsubaki here?”

“Sumire-san... Why are you here...”

“I wanted to see the kids that my sister was teaching, so I’m here~”

“I see... Where’s Shinobu-san then? Wasn’t he with you?”

“He had a mission, so he’ll be arriving after lunch~”

Carefree and soft, that would what Amajiki Tamaki describe Amaka Sumire, the proper heir of the Amaka Family.

With all the mess going on, and the nature of Sumire’s work as an idol hero, the work as the head of the organisation was still left to Tsubaki, no matter how much the older sister protests.

Tamaki sees her as an older sister figure to a certain extent, he’s not shy in front of her due to them constantly seeing each other at home and her personality.

But when the 22-year-old shines too brightly, Tamaki believes that she can rival Mirio’s brightness.

The hero Lavender was in her casual wear, Tamaki was surprised of how much people cannot recognise their favourite heroes when they’re out of their hero costume.

“So, how did you do?”

“I passed... But it’s going to be PvP later... A lot of people are going to watch me... I-I don’t think that I can do it...”

“Don’t worry! As long as you did your best, it’ll be fine~”

“Y-Yeah...”

“Recently, it’s like I’m dreaming...”Sumire trailed as she sat next to the boy.

That line alerted him, after all the goddess series are incapable of dreaming.

“What do you...?”

“Of course, I’m talking about reality... Recently, it’s like a dream, ya know?”

Sumire then stared at the ceiling with a frown on her face.

“All those years back then... Just because I was running away from my problems, it made Tsubaki paid the price instead...”

“...”

“She always tried to imitate me, you know? Even though she knows that she cannot fully do that...”

“Her hair tie... Your present for her on her 4th birthday...”Tamaki trailed.

“Yes...”

“But recently, she seemed to find something she wanted to do... To raise those kids...”

“It’s reassuring me a lot, you know?”

Lavender, an icon, an inspiration to the world.

Her kind actions and appearance make people view her as perfection.

However, in the end, she is just a normal girl at heart.

She was grateful to what she had, no matter how small it was.

Tamaki really liked that side of her.

“Yeah... It puts me at ease as well...”

The Amaka Family was praised to no ends, but in reality, they just wanted to live normal lives.

But with the appearance of quirks, it seemed an impossible, an unreachable utopia to them.

One of the reasons why Tamaki is that shy and nervous all the time, is because being part of the organisation, the expectations for him were high as well.

Tsubaki knew that, and in order to make him feel better, she entered UA as well, not that she doesn’t trust Mirio, but rather she knows that with more familiar people around him, the more at ease he is.

She also told him that there was no need to work at the organisation since he’ll feel more pressure there. The reason why he went to Fatgum’s place.

She would accompany him occasionally, but he feels that he isn’t doing his job as her bodyguard well, hell, he doesn’t know if he’s doing any of it.

He follows her around sure, but she forbids him from following her on undercover missions or night-time patrols.

Over the years, he wanted to save her.

From her guilt.

From the burden that the world has put upon her.

But in the end, Tsubaki told him that she didn’t need anyone to save her.

She just wanted somebody on her side.

“What are saying so suddenly Tamaki?”

“You guys both shine so brightly... It’s like Mirio’s the sun and Tsubaki’s the moon... I can’t be as amazing as you two...”

Tsubaki remained silent as she walked towards him and flicked him in the forehead.

“Tamaki, why are you being an idiot?”

“H-Huh...?”

“That’s right, Tamaki, the one’s who's amazing is you! No matter how scared you were, you never ran away... I’m trying so hard because you’re so amazing!”

“Everyone’s personalities are different, it doesn’t make you weak just because you’re shy...”

“Besides, calling me the sun...? I’m not that great, you know?”

“And if you’re talking about the moon, it’s gotta be you, after all, a moon is only capable to shine with the sun, like you and Mirio, right?”  

Tamaki slightly turned away before turning back up.

“Then... You’re the stars then...”

Tsubaki then quickly turned away as her face went red.

‘Eh?! Wha?! Is that some kind of proposal?! Was that intentional?!’

Mirio looked at Tamaki’s clueless expression before laughing, these two were way too cute for each other...

“If I’m the sun as you say, Tamaki, the you’re-”

Tsubaki entered the locker room, breaking the two’s thoughts as they stared at her.

“Onee-chan, why are you- Wait, why are you two looking at me like that?”

It was her hair, for one moment, the two of them wondered if the person they were seeing wasn’t Tsubaki.

Tsubaki tied up her hair, into low twintails to be exact, and on the right, a familiar hairpin was placed there.

It was a navy blue cresent moon and star shaped hairpin.

Tamaki couldn’t stop the tears flowing down his face.

“H-Happy Birthday!” Tamaki mumbled out as he handed over his present to the girl.

After she unwraped it, she let out a gasp of surprise as she saw the hairpin.

Tsubaki smiled as she stared at it.

“Geez... You really know what to do at times like these, don’t you...?”

It was what he described her to be a few weeks before...

Tamaki didn’t even bothered to try to dry his tears, he stared into her eyes before letting out one of the most genuine smiles he ever had in his life.

He really never thought that she would wear it, after all she said that she was afraid that she would break it.

And nonetheless, she changed her symbolic hairstyle.

Sumire was trying to hold back her tears as well, barely managing to not let it spill out.

“Wait! Why are you guys suddenly crying?! Is it that bad?”

“No...”Sumire managed to mumble out as she let out a bittersweet smile. “I just thought that the hairstyle’s really cute...”

“That’s the point?!”

Suddenly, Tamaki lunged towards her, enveloping her in a death grip hug as his sniffles continued.

Tsubaki was surpised when he pressed her head upon his neck, she still smiled in relief.

“T-To think that my sister would be going for the cute route... I’m not dreaming right...?”

“Ok, that’s it! This hairstyle is only for when I’m not working, or else MIRROR would flip if I had such a huge image change!!”

As the two finally calmed down and dried their tears, Sumire took out her smartphone and turned on the camera to selfie mode.

“Alright you two, say cheese~”

“Wait, what?!”

“S-Sumire-san?!”

“A mermorial photo, it is quite a milestone after all~”Sumire explained as her phone let out a ‘pong’.

“Did you just posted it to Twitter??!!”

“Don’t worry, I already wrote that it’s your casual hairstyle~”

“That’s not the point! We don’t even look ready in that photo...”

On the other side of Japan, to be precise, in the Kyushu region in the Fukuoka prefecture, a certain pro hero’s phone let out a chirp, sginalling its owner that one of the people he’s following has posted something.

The man picked up his phone and unlocked it, only to see the picture that Sumire just posted.

He was stunned for a second, before a voice called out to him

“Hawks-san! Please come out for the photoshoot whenever you’re ready~”

“You got it!”

He then turned back to look at the photo before letting out a smile.

“Well, what’s most important is that you’re happy, Sumire...”

“By the way, Tsubaki’s kinda looking cute.”

Back in UA, the said girl let out a sneeze.

After lunch was the announcement upon the PvP matches.

Izuku was going to face Hitoshi first, while Miyu is going to face Shiozaki Ibara and Katsuki was going against Ochaco.

During recreation time, Miyu decided to save her strength and take a quick power nap.

She was slighly drained from the last event, and she could only recover so much with just food.

But since there weren’t any comfortable places to take a nap, Tsuyu offered her shoulder for the girl since she won’t be competing in the PvP.

Recreation was a bit over 30 minutes, filled with different events that normal sports festivals have.

Tsuyu slightly patted Miyu in order to wake her up as th recreation is about to wrap up.

“Nghh...? Tsuyu-chan?”

“Recreation is almost over, kero, did you sleep well?”

“Yeah... Thanks to you... Was I heavy...?”

“Not at all, you kinda remind me of the times my younger siblings do this as well! But to think that Miyu-chan gets tired this easily...”

“That’s because my stamina and strength are no good at all...”

“But in return, your speed, agility and intelligence are really good... Kero... You’re definitely the top student of our class...”

“W-What are you saying, Tsuyu-chan?! It’s true that I’m no good against power types, besides! Even if I have an advantage in close combat... I can’t win against Katsuki...”

Miyu wanted to cheer on her brother before go to prepare for her match so she remained at the stands.

Miyu than inhaled and exhaled as she felt herself getting more nervous by the second.

The whole nation was going to see her on television, who wouldn’t be nervous?

She made her resolve as she stood up.

“Everyone! I’ll be going now!!”

“Kero, good luck!”

“May the gods be with you, Miyu.”

“Ihihihi, be sure to not hold back once you face us!”

“Go beat them up, Miyu!”

“Miyu-san! Do your best!”

“Miyuki-kun! Just relax and everything will be fine!”

“Miyu-chan~ I’ll be cheering for you~”

Miyu nodded as everyone gave her their blessings.

As she walked up the stairs, Katsuki mumbled out a sentence.

“Don’t you dare lose, okay?”

“...Of course! But I don’t think I need to say anything to you, since I know that you’re going to win...”

“Hah, damn right you are.”

Miyu smiled as she head to the corridor and waved at her classmates before leaving their eyesights.

“So uh, Bakugou, do you like-”

“Pikachu, if you have a death wish, I dare you to finish that sentence.”

‘Hueh... I still feel nervous... I mean! It’s going to be just me and Shiozaki-san on the stage! Wuuuu....’

Even with a few deep breaths, Miyu still was feeling overwhelmed.

Her palms were getting sweaty, and she was still trembling a bit.

‘Geez... There’s no helping it...’

Miyu then reached up to her ponytail and tugged the end of her ribbon, untying her ponytail and letting her hair down as a result.

She held onto her ribbon with both of her hands as she faced the wall, just findling with the ribbon gave her a sense of comfort.

It was a habit of hers when she gets nervous or scared.

She could slowly feel her heartbeat returning to normal, as well as her breathing.

She let out one last sigh, finally calming down.

‘I can do it, just filter out everything else except for Shiozaki-san then it’ll be fine...’

“My... To think that you were hiding in such a place...”

Miyu felt that all of her fears returning back to her tenfold, or perhaps even more when she heard that familiar voice.

Hotaru’s voice was so sweet, too sweet to be true as she lifted her daughter’s chin.

“That��s because our experiment decided to show how much of a failure she is to the world, of course we need to prevent it from happening, you know?”Hotaru replied with one of the scariest faces Miyu had seen her make in her life.

“To think that you had ran to UA... Just where did you get the money to enter from...?” Mikage questioned as he lifted his glasses.

“I...Got the scholarship...”Miyu managed to mumble out.

“Huh... So the centre of attention huh...? This is truly troublesome...”

“Oh come on, dear, it isn’t that bad...”Hotaru reassured the man with a creepy smile on her face.

“It’s not like she’s going to be soon, at least not that fast...”

“Oh, what a naive little girl you are, Miyuki...”Hotaru began as she turned back to her daughter.

“We’re heading to America, at an island where quirk researchers work...”

“The equipment here in Japan isn’t enough to interfere with your quirk genes... But there are ones there! And there’s an acquaintance of ours, he’ll be able to help us to make you the strongest quirk holder...”

The storm swallows them all, when Quil is wavering with exhaustion, with relief, with heartache. Her knees hit sand instead of the hard stone floor they'd been fighting on, and she blinks her eyes open to the sun overhead, Amano's island stretching out to the blue sea, all their hard-won allies arranged around them and a shadow that must be Seath on the horizon. And she's so fiercely glad that they won their battle with the other adventurers, that she was able to turn the tide and save her friends when it had all seemed hopeless a minute earlier, that for once in her life her magic was useful and did just exactly as she asked of it, but there's another fight bearing down on them and she has little left that she didn't spend just trying to get them all back to this point.

And then there's Paladine's voice in her head, a cool touch like an invisible hand on the back of her neck, and her magic sizzles up within her once more, as strong as it's ever been, and he strength returns all in a rush that even Kithri's strongest healing spells can't match, and her wounds knit closed, and she's so overwhelmingly grateful for it. She's just picking herself up to her feet when Phi rushes over and grips her hand to help her the rest of the way up.

"Are you all right?" they ask each other, almost at the same time.

The corner of Phi's mouth kicks up. "I'm all right. You?"

She nods, and her heart is racing with the influx of fresh energy on top of renewed fear. Behind Phi, just over her shoulder, the shadow that is Seath is growing, impossibly fast. He'll be here in a moment, in a heartbeat. "We're going to do this," she says, and she isn't sure which of them she's trying to convince. Maybe both of them.

Phi's smile evens out, and deepens enough to reach her eyes. "We are," she says, and she's so steady, so sure, where Quil is jittery with nerves and the inescapable knowledge of too many ways that things could go wrong. Phi glances over her shoulder, towards the beach where Seath is approaching, and when she looks back at Quil, there's reluctance and grim resolve settled on her face. "I'd better be there to greet him."

Quil moves without thought, propelled by the urgency built up in her and the fear and the relief and the nerves, pulls on the hand that's still holding Phi's and steps in close and reaches up to press a kiss to her mouth.

Phi goes very still against her, and Quil freezes, and when she can move she steps back quickly, and clears her throat. "Be safe," she says, with feeling.

And Phi's inscrutable expression creases with another smile, a quicksilver flash. "You, too." She squeezes Quil's hand once, and then releases her and turns, running for the beach and drawing her sword with a single, smooth motion. And Quil draws up her magic and grips it tight, and watches Seath's wings black out half the sky overhead, and stands ready to fight.

After, when it's done, when Quil flops on her back in the sand and laughs with exhaustion and giddy, delirious relief, it's Phi who comes to stand over her first, and she's drenched with sweat and carries the sharp tang of blood on her, and Quil knows she's wounded and she should go see Kithri first. But she's here instead, looking down at Quil as she pushes back the hair that's come free of its tie and fallen into her face. She's still standing. She's alive, and somehow they all are.

"Are you all right?" Phi asks her quietly.

Quil nods and reaches a hand up to her. Phi takes it, but Quil doesn't let herself be pulled up, pulls Phi down instead, until she huffs a laugh and kneels in the sand beside her. "Are you?"

Phi nods, smiling a little at her, lopsided again but earnest. And Quil hadn't intended to move from her back in the sand for anything, but she pushes herself up onto her elbows all at once, and frowns at Phi, and says, "Are you?", and the nerves are back, dancing a jig in her stomach.

Phi's expression shifts in a way that means she knows what Quil is asking, knows she doesn't mean blood or wounds or exhaustion. And the corners of her eyes crease again, and she says, "I'm all right," again, quiet and steady and sure.

Quil bites at her lip. It's ridiculous, to be as nervous now as she'd been before the battle. More nervous, maybe. She's sure of her magic, these days. She's nothing remotely like sure of this. "Because-- Because you're married, I know."

"Yes." And Phi laughs, softly, and reaches to Quil. She ruffles her hair, and sends a shower of sand cascading out of it and onto Quil's shoulders. "I'm still married."

It's an intentional echo of that old, familiar refrain, but it's gentle where all the other times she's said it, it's been a sharp, pointed reminder. "Will you come back to Fairpoint Hold with me, when we've finished what we need to here?" Phi asks, before Quil can figure out what to say to that, what she's meant to say to that. His Yokai form is similar to his dad, but different. He wears a dark green kimono with a navy blue furry overcoat hanging off his waist, tied with a purple belt. He wears black shin covered fingerless gloves, as well as straw sandals. Around his neck's an azure, wisp-like scarf with tails resembling dragon heads but changes colors like a mood ring. Red when he get angry, and blue means sadness. His hair now have teal streaks is in a high ponytail tied tight by a ponytail holder, and his azure flame scarf with two dragon-like heads can change color based on mood.

Powers/Abilities/Skills:

- He attacks by letting his dragon scarf bite the opponent which has a base power of 80-120.

- A B ranked Fire-attribute Yokai. He is a Fire Yo-kai, he is strong over Ice Yo-kai, but is weak against Water Yo-kai.

- Skilled Fighter; Since he is a member of the Slippery Tribe, he is notable for buffing his allies' stats with their inspiritments, while also being hard to be negatively inspirited by the opponents. He have serpentine-like attributes based on sea creatures, or merely have really long body parts. He is often very independent-minded.

- Break floor tiles by punching the floor.

- His teammates feel protected by him causing the speed stats to go up a lot.

Background: Not much is known about how Katie and Venoct got together, and Katie being pregnant wasn’t known as well. Dabi’s existence was only made known when Katie is taken to the hospital and got pregnant with his child. Since she is now an adult and unable to see Venoct and they also can't be together due to coming from different world, she admit that his father left him.

Since then, Dabi grew up in Uptown Springdale with his mother and her parents, her husband, Nate Adams and his parents. He didn’t talk to the others much, instead he just stayed close with his mom.

He was taken at the age of 9, he awaken his Yokai Blood resulting in being captured by a Yokai sent by Lord Enma who erase memories of his existences from people who known him. Dabi was sent to the Yokai World where he was on trial for having exist into the world since it is forbidden for a Yokai and human to fall in love and could have disrupted the balance between Yokai and humans. His existence could have been sent to execution and his soul will be destroyed and not be reincarnated to human or yokai. He managed to escape with a help of another Yokai criminal who sacrifice his life to help him escape. He have been on the run, trying to get off-radar from the Yokais ever since. He did met/reunite with his mom, but saw she already have kids of her own. He try to get her to notice him that he is here, but he is invisible to their eyes and did not remeber him at all. Broken hearted that his mom did not have the heart to find him, he let her go.

In one of his hiding places, Gravity Falls, young Aksel (who obtains a Yokai Watch) and spotted Dabi one day (He saw him meditating on the waterfall and doing pushups and punching trees) and captured him to record in his journal. Aksel requested Avaline to make an invention that allows the family of scientist who study in the supernatural that were friends to his great-great-uncle Stan see him and be trapped in the container and only the scientists and released and captured him back. Dabi was sent to be research and experimented by scientists having him force to fight and trained his powers to the limits. Years later he is recruited by Assembly of Gold by Wonder Woman/Bruce Wayne an offer to protect him.

Personality: An air-headed individual who seemed to constantly wander off in thought and never focus on one thing. Impassive and tended to think only for himself and operated on logic alone, almost never letting emotion guide him. However, he is shifted to a serious, very harsh, and strict individual who shows no concern for those who do not abide the Assembly of Gold conduct. His expectations for his fellow members are nigh-unrealistic (berating PJ for her injury during a rescue mission) making him devoted to his position as the member of the Assembly of Gold. He is so devoted that he tried to discline and have people follows the codes of the A.O.G. He is always been a quiet and reserved person. He have always been more of an observer than a socializer, causing him to be a bit outcasted.

He hold a strong grudge on Aksel and Avaline, wanting revenge on them.

Dabi used to be a boy who is shy and a heart of gold who loved his mom so much, before hardening his heart when being sent to the World of Yokai and be seem as a criminal, losing an old friend nack in the Yokai World, his mom lost the sight to see him and not remembering him, his time in being experimented on after being captured by Aksel.

He does not like wearing modern clothes, he preferred traditional clothing and loves his culture. His kimono was a gift to his mom and wears it often to be close to him as a kid. Plus the clothes his stepfather gave him is boring.

He would never break the few bonds he's forged from his teammates despite his initial interaction with them is cold. Extremely loyal to Wonder Woman/Bruce Wayne.

Possibly slightly more coherent ramblings on Shadowbringers, Warriors of Darkness, Dark Knights, and the Light/Dark, Good/Evil dichotomy vs Balance below the Read More cut:

Someone reminded in Discord during all the FanFest spamming that the original title of “Warrior of Light” in A Realm Reborn came about because people couldn’t remember the Battle of Carteneau and the champions lost there, only seeing their forms silhouetted against the light. The current PC becomes known by that title as we “remind” people of those heroes as our deeds grow more and more astounding (and in some cases, as the realm remembers that the PC was their lost champion).

They simply called us that. Hydaelyn picked up on it, maybe, or had Her own meaning behind it (also they needed a moniker they could use in voiced scenes since everyone can name their character whatever).

That Light is associated with Hydaelyn, and therefore life, is important; people tend to auto-associate Light with Good. Some of it is because we can see clearly in the day, because a light in the dark is comforting and familiar and can drive away that which frightens us; the power of fire against predators and cold is a long-ingrained survival instinct.*

Zodiark is the aspect of Darkness, separated from Hydaelyn in ages past. Those who claim to be his servants, the Ascians, strive to bring about Calamities and weaken the Mother to bring about the rejoining of Light and Dark, to restore a balance they see as dangerously out of tune--though their own actions seem just as out of balance, striving for a domination of the Dark over the Light.

There is an indication of a need for balance; the success of the Dark on Hydaelyn’s 13th reflection saw it overwhelmed by Darkness and fallen into the Void. We know of one survivor who was not killed or turned into a voidsent monster, a boy saved by the Ascian Emissary and sent to...help the champions of Light, in the name of balance, and timing.

But the success of the Light on the 1st reflection was just as disastrous, as the Flood of Light began wiping out all life, creating a perfect void of Light instead of Dark. The champions of that world were brought to the Source--to “our” Hydaelyn--to become the Warriors of Darkness and try to bring balance to our successes. One of our allies found a way to possibly save their world, but at great cost, leaving us with the warning from our counterpart in Patch 3.4 in our ears: 

“We were just adventurers trying to make our way. An odd job here, a favor there–we never aspired to be Warriors of Light. But word of our deeds spread, and soon people were calling us heroes. They placed their hopes and dreams on our shoulders and bid us fight for all that was good and right.

“We fought and we fought and we fought…until there was no one left to fight. We won…and now our world is being erased from existence. We did everything right, everything that was asked of us, and still–still, it came to this! You of all people should understand! We cannot–we will not falter. We brought our world to the brink of destruction, and now we must save it.” -Arbert

And now we have patch 4.5 “A Requiem for Heroes” coming, with the 5.0 expansion Shadowbringers to follow. We are told we must become Warriors of Darkness to save the world from a worse Calamity.

The Midlander who represents the PC in all of the trailers is weary, scarred, pained, and sad, but continues to fight when faced with a challenge. His weapons shatter and he is wounded. But he keeps fighting, against a familiar foe, a construct imbued with White Magic and Light itself. And he cannot win--until he calls upon the Flame in the Abyss. Until he becomes Dark Knight.

My immediate response to the trailer and seeing the “canon job” for Middy this expac was DRK got a lovely response I also agree with. In this setting, while the instinctive reaction is “Light vs Dark”, it may not be so simple. That “Good vs Evil,” “Right vs Wrong”, may not be based in this familiar dichotomy.

I’ve written before about Dark Knight being comparable to a Vengeance Paladin in the new Dungeons & Dragons 5th ed Paladin Oath system (...interesting synchronicity there, actually...), and I think that holds true. Just because we’re being asked to restore balance by becoming Warriors of Darkness doesn’t mean we are now “evil” (edgy and goth elements are acceptable and may vary).

Dark Knights fight using any means necessary to see Right triumph over wrongs committed against those who can’t defend themselves from those in authority.  Their strength comes from their bonds of friendship and love of their sworn charges. I am not even kidding, it’s the point of the lvl 60 and 70 quest chains. That Dark Knight is the chosen canon job, and comes with so much symbolism, should mean a LOT going into 4.5 and Shadowbringers. 

DRK became available at the start of Heavensward, after one of the more traumatic events the Champion experienced, when we are down and alone and things seem bleak. A voice calls, by turns weary and angry, giving voice to our own pain. And while we learn to control, to work with it, it’s always there, the specter of our failures, doubts, grief, pain, anger--and how we take those emotions to fight for the sake of others.

Now we must take those feelings, in the wake of the coming disaster, to try to stop it and save all we love. What better symbolism is there, than to put our Midlander in the dark armor with the big sword?

I see your “Skull was the only civilian among the Arco”, and I raise you “Reborn and Luce were the only mafiosi among the Arco”

Okay so this is two third crack, but hear me out, the one third left is pretty solid:

Here’s my strongest exhibit:

And that’s actually pretty much the only strong argument I have lol, but it is a pretty strong one if I say so myself. Especially since Bermuda himself agrees with him in the very next panel:

(Not explicitly yes, but it doesn’t have to be.)

And then he goes on and explain that if Checker Face controls the pacifiers, one part of three of the Tri-ni-sette, then he obviously controls the whole of the Tri-ni-sette (even if Checker Face states he only really cares about the pacifiers later on in the arc).

He says this:

And so he made himself guardian of the mafia rules, the closest position he could get himself in to Checker Face.

My point being, once two third of the Tri-ni-sette became mafia (and also because, you know, the pacifiers especially needs Dying Will Flames to work, which arguably are overwhelmingly found and nurtured and kept secret by the mafia), the pacifiers also ended up naturally being well-known by the mafia (though only through “The Strongest Babies” Arcobaleno).

But it isn’t (and apparently never became) mafia, even if their bearers just so happen to be mafiosi. And it’d make sense they become mafiosi after being Cursed even if they weren’t before because once they awaken their flames, it’s in the mafia they’d get the most info about them/learn to get the hang of them/have the most freedom using them.

And if the Arcobaleno system isn’t exclusively mafia (which we established it isn’t), there’s no reason Checker Face would choose among mafiosi only. If nothing else, civilians would be more easy to approach and trick (and forcefully give them the pacifier if it ever comes to that).

As far as we know the only criteria necessary to be an Arocbaleno is 1) to be Flame active, and 2) to be the strongest in your field.

(I was going to add “having the strongest flames” too, but is that canon actually? I mean if your field is related to fighting, it’s likely you do have the strongest flames, but otherwise?

Actually even in that case, you could only be the one who use your flames the best, right?)

So from there, everyone could be chosen as an Arcobaleno.

Exhibit B: Notice the very neutral and straight-to-the-point way Reborn introduces the Arco in his dream sequence?

Now it was established before that Reborn is having a lucid dream, so either he’s speaking as the Reborn from back then, or as the Reborn from the present time.

Personally I’m going for the latter, because of this panel:

Reborn says they were all strangers before the meeting. I know it might be used here as “I only heard of them before and don’t actually know them personnaly”, but wouldn’t that have been mentioned somewhere at least once?

Something like “back then, we were all making our way to the top of the mafia”, or “we were competing with each other”, or just something about their affiliations/famiglia, the way Lal is said to be part of the special forces?

For the sake of this post, I’m going to say it would have.

Exhibit C: The utter lack of backstory for the Arco

That’s a cover for a chapter you could say is the only other instance of the Arco being introduced to us. Notice how it’s very similar to the panels from above?

I mean we got a whole arc about them, wasn’t it the perfect time to give us some backstory?

As far as I know, we only got these little tidbits for Fon:

(Which I’m still crying about because what does that even MEAN?? Also to me the way Viper says it makes me think Fon can see in the past the way Uni can see in the future???)

There're two reasons I can think of to explain this. 1) Amano purposefully chose to not give us anything on their backstories (I mean it’s not like it kept us from understanding what was going on, and she kind of always has a lot going on already at any given time). 2) Once she told us why they were chosen as Arocbaleno, there was nothing noteworthy left to tell us because they were simply civilians otherwise.

Now I know they might have been part of some shady shit (it’s even very likely being who they are lol) (and because of their fields too, it kind of just would have come up “naturally”, especially if they had also already discovered their flames), but I never said they had to be good civilians.

And because personally I make a difference between not being the most lawful person and being mafia, it still tracks.

In conclusion: At the time of the Arco’s first meeting, we have:

Hitman Reborn

Donna Luce

Civilians everyone else

(Except for Military Lal and Colonnello of course, but I mean civilians as in “not part of the mafia” here, so they still count as civilians.)

I, too, tend to agree being a stuntman doesn’t exactly prepare you to be mafia (it’d be worrying if it did lol), but look at this:

Notice the “we”, the absence of any jab towards Skull? I know this is a serious moment and all, but we all know how Reborn is. He totally would have added “... even with the Lackey by our side” or something.

Also this:

Notice the “assassination” part? Now Checker Face might not have given them any way out once they showed up to the meeting (and likely wouldn’t have given them a way out no matter what), and the reward of becoming the Strongest is very enticing, and the Arco are morally grey people, but still.

That’s some line to be ready and willing to cross. Also notice the “we never got bored”? They were enjoying themselves.

That’s it, that’s the two (2) things I have about this one lol.

Bonus 2: The Arco knew somewhat what was coming (but unfortunately none of the crucial infos)

Look at this:

That’s Reborn’s reaction to seeing the pacifier for the first time. It could only be confusion, but then I don’t explain to myself the exclamation mark?

Because of that it reads to me like he heard stories about (transparent) pacifiers before. Also he says “the” instead of “a”, but that just might be a translation choice.

There’s this panel again too:

“Becoming the finest in the world.” I mean “I Prescelti Sette” is telling in and on itself, so they could have simply believed Checker Face.

Would the Strongest have trusted him that easily---if at all---though? Without knowing anything about him?

Also these, the most ambiguous ones to me:

WHY would Colonnello have felt the need to follow them to very clearly take Lal’s place if they weren't suspicious of anything??

Again it’s stated multiple times the Arco didn’t, in fact, know anything, but clearly they knew something???

(This actually ties nicely with my hc the myth of The Chosen(-to-be-the-Strongest) Seven being passed down in the mafia like some old, fictional, that once-upon-a-time was believed to be true story, but no one ever makes the connection with the Arcobaleno once they appear.)

(Even though the fact the babies would always appear soon after The Chosen Seven disappear would have been suspect, but also adults turning into babies?? I think even for a mafia with supernatural colorful flames that would be too much.)

(But also the babies very clearly look like their adult self??? And it’s not like they even bothered to come up with a new identity (except for Viper)).

Okay, I’m done now. And I went all over the place with this post lol, but anyway, food for thought. And I’d love to actually hear you guys opinion about all these, so like, feel free to add to this post!

this really is a super fun and interesting take (both of yours), because now i realize i’ve personally never once thought of hibari as a delinquent for even a second. can i imagine him do the things listed here? absolutely. would he have any qualms about doing any of those things should he want/need to? he really wouldn’t. but does he actively and purposefully go out of his way to do those things on the daily, knowing full well how they’re going to be perceived, and how he’s going to be perceived in turn? like i said, tbh i personally really can’t see it.

the way i do see it, because of the innate way hibari is and the way he views the world and navigates his way in it, either way he was inevitably bound to be seen as a delinquent by others. because for him (physical) strength is the be all and end all of everything, and also the most efficient and only fun way to go about and deal with everything, and also the lens through which he understands the world and people and relates and interacts with them, and so, well, you know. there’s only so many ways it can go lol.

i also think you (op) discarded a little too quickly the possibility of him having earned the fear and respect on his name even if we strictly stay within what canon gave us about him. like, yes he beats people up, but not only he does it with tonfas, which definitely inflict more pain and damages than his bare hands would, but he also beats them up hard enough he makes sure to call the hospital after so they won’t be left with any lasting damages, as seen when he beats up tsuna & co in his first appearance in the manga. incidentally, his fighting abilities were also enough for him to subdue and become the leader of all the namimori middle delinquents, if not of the entire town’s delinquents too. he can do whatever he wants at school, beating the students up, using the reception room, choosing which year he wants to be in this time around, etc, so clearly he has some kind of powerful hold over the school’s director, if not over people in even higher position than that too, to be able to do all that without consequences.

he also has the means and/or the right kind of connections and/or the authority to keep the namimori hospital from closing. and likewise, he has the means/connections/authority to get rid of dead bodies, as seen when he showed up to get rid of moretti upon reborn asking him to. which also means that generally speaking, he’s able to cover his tracks/avoid facing consequences for his actions, even when they so clearly and unapologetically and publicly break the rules, be it school rules or straight up the law. and like you said he has a ridiculous mansion and no parents whatsoever as far as anyone can tell lol.

and to me it’s plenty for people to fear and/or respect him, and to be wary of him and wonder just what kind of shady background he comes from and still lives in, and what kind of powerful backing he has to so assuredly act the way he does. you could even call him a criminal at this point even, and likely some do, but only when they’re sure he can’t hear them lol. so like, you really only have to look at canon for his whole deal to be more like the way you described, because that’s already what amano gave us.

that said, i still 100% agree he absolutely stumbled into his reputation. his head is absolutely empty, you’re so right. like to me, hibari doesn’t see himself as a delinquent and wouldn’t call himself one, but also he doesn’t even realize that’s the way--and the only way even--he comes out to other people because he doesn’t care to. he only deals with things as they come and right as they come, uncaring to consider the context or possible consequences for his actions. he’s just not the type to think about and consider the big picture, or the consequences of successfully dealing with things the way he does, let alone the type of letting those things change his mind about how to go over things. except other people do see and consider the big picture, and so he’s seen by them the way he is.

(i’m not sure if that was very clear lol, but what i mean is that all those things i listed above, him biting people to death when they break his rules, ruling over the delinquents, saving namimori hospital, etc, it’s all things hibari sees as separate from each other. they’re things that bothered him at some point, and he dealt with and moved on from, and that was that. it’s all something he sees as inconsequential, because clearly, he dealt with them swiftly and easily, and thus he doesn’t see those things as things that define him or substantially infer about what kind of person he is.

but when other people think about hibari, they think about all of those things he does at the same time, noticing the pattern in them, and basing and deciding their opinion of him on them. and so of course they fear and/or respect him, and wonders if he’s part of gangs or if he’s yakuza, etc, etc.

oh btw, imo he totally could be yakuza and still end up the cloud guardian! reborn would totally not care about it and would still choose him as a potential cloud guardian, the same way lambo was chosen as a guardian despite being bovino.)

on kinda the same note, van, i have to disagree with you here and say that to me, hibari would probably call himself straight and narrow instead of a delinquent. it’s just that his definition of straight and narrow is wildly different from everyone else’s. but when you look closely, he really does uphold himself to the same set of rules he enforces on other people. and that’s why losing against mukuro is such a big deal to him, and why he comes to have the dynamic he has with him, because for the first time, despite perfectly abiding by those rules (being the strongest), he failed to do what he set out to do (getting rid of the threat on nami middle and restore its peace). likewise, that’s also why tsuna bothers him so much, and why he comes to have the dynamic he has with him, because despite tsuna not abiding by the rules that had yet to fail him or to be proven wrong at this point (tsuna factually and objectively being weak), tsuna still managed to enforce his will and have it be acknowledged and respected, even over the will of someone stronger than him (defeating hibari, or at least being his equal in a fight to protect yams and gokudera).

i still wouldn’t say you’re wrong in calling him a hypocrite tho! like, i totally see where you’re coming from here. hibari does break rules all over the damn place lol, but it’s not those rules he forces everyone else to follow and punishes them for when they don’t, is it? i mean, i think it doesn’t have to be said that hibari doesn’t believe in following society’s rules and the path it laid down in front of you as the Only Right Way to live your life lol. tho even if we only focus on his rules, i do still think you can call him a hypocrite in a way and to some extent. because what he calls discipline for him and abides to, and what he calls discipline for everyone else and forces them to abide to are two different things. because hibari is strong, and it’s the privilege of the strongs to be able to make it so they don’t have to follow the same rules as everyone else (the weak), right? and to make it so the other rules they have to follow are--well, not necessarily always easier or less binding, but often are, right? so he’s a hypocrite in the way that because he makes a distinction between the strongs and the weaks, and because he happens to be among the strongs, there’s an inherent unfairness in him wanting to enforce his (the strongs’) world’s view on others (namely the weaks, or just anyone weaker than him).

(i feel like this is a bit confusing and would be clearer with examples, but i can’t think of any. 😭 to make it just a little clearer tho, the way i see it, what hibari calls discipline in relation to himself is about how he’s a carnivore, and how he should do justice to that strength by 1) making sure he remains a carnivore and not letting anyone weaker than him enforce their will over his own, let alone herbivores, and 2) using his strength--well, not necessarily fairly, i guess, but indiscriminately? like, he bites both herbivores and other carnivores to death as long as they warranted it in his eyes. not for the same reasons, but he does bite both of them to death lol. and 3) not abusing his strength over those who haven't any or have less than him just because he can, tho i get this one is arguable. but at the very least hibari's never gratuitous with his strength and willingness to inflict violence in a way where it's coming from a place of cruelty or him wanting to go on a power trip, etc.

meanwhile what he calls discipline for other people, for herbivores, is 1) how they shouldn’t be okay and complacent with being weak and being ruled over by the carnivores, 2) how they shouldn’t only rely on the way they come together to pull through tough situations or call it strength, and 3) how they shouldn’t use their “strength” to torment weaker herbivores than them, let alone try to enforce their wills over actual carnivores*. and when they don’t do that, as seen with tsuna, he leaves them relatively well alone, and lets them do what they want and the way they want. and if you look at it like that, he does consistently uphold others and himself to that world’s view throughout the manga, acting accordingly as that world’s view changes and evolves and adapts itself to him growing and becoming more open-minded throughout the manga.

*because like, that was an absolutely flawed way of seeing things, don’t get me wrong. and it’s also tsuna who teaches him that, because he doesn’t really ever stop being what hibari sees and considers as weak right until the manga ends. and so he forces hibari to learn that herbivores, while still remaining herbivores (weak), have way to be strong and have strength of their own they can use to make themselves be heard, even by carnivores. and that it’s strength in its own right and just as worthy and respectable as carnivores’ strength.)

as for him shrinking the less fun part of his duties, i think the opposite on this too. it’s only ever hinted throughout the manga, but it seems he does seriously do his job and manage the school as the leader of the disciplinary committee, and not just by biting people to death lol. for example, other characters often find him in the reception room, like during his first appearance, or when dino looks for him to tell him about the rings and the varia, or when adel finds him to let him know she’ll take over the disciplinary committee. and in that last instance, he’s even shown working on some papers when she shows up. during the snow ball fight chapter, he says he can’t stay and participate even if he wanted to because he had committee work to do. he’s also there in person for the fall meeting to decide which clubs will have which rooms. and i actually think that’s part of the reason why he’s not just feared but also respected! because yeah, he punishes them when he thinks they deserved it, but he also sees to it the school runs smoothly just as seriously and with just as much dedication on the more logistical and administrative side of things, even if there’s no one to bite to death and he’d very likely rather do that instead lol.

and one last note about hypocrisy, but i think we could call the nami middle students that too. like, i absolutely agree they see him as a tyrannical punk more than a guardian angel for sure, and have a lot to say about the way he does things and runs nami middle when he isn’t there to hear it, but on the other hand when shit hits the fan, like with mukuro, they’re suddenly very happy, grateful and relieved he’s the way he is and does things the way he does, and entirely counts on him to fix things. and i mean, perfectly understandable lol, but you know.

Pokemon & romance (or rather the lack of it)

Look at Yokai Watch please. Also a show for kids, does little-to-no character development, with less overreaching plot, and yet...

... we have some pretty intense scenes/gags in here. Not just “shippy” but actually canon. That’s one of my fave from the show so far and it really shows that among all the silliness or the lack of regularly progressing plot... there are actually some fucked up psychological/relationship model moments (perhaps it’s even a bit of nice development? not yet sure). Keita, you are absolutely not normal in that regard and also... she actually likes it when you’re being an idiot!

See, there are a lot of fun things SM Satoshi owns to Amano Keita but if at some point in the future of Pokemon Satoshi was finally allowed to be involved in some small romantic situations/gags... and I mean real romance, not fandom “ships” or one sided artificial ‘crush’ (looking at you Serena!)... then that would be amazing! Maybe I would actually start to like his character more and stop seeing him as a vessel for non-romantic (and sometimes pretty dry) pokemon love. Also, such a shift would most likely open much more possibilities for some cool Rocketshippy moments/dialogues - far more interesting and fresh rather than highly ambiguous Rocketshippy frames or great moments as we know them from Rocketshippy history of the show. Starting with SM, the TV series already allows for wedding and marriage between the main supportive characters so... that’s a start towards something interesting, I guess? Although, it must be said: I would dislike it if Musashi and Kojiro got some sort of “romantic plotline” and if Rocketshipping actually became canon (or some sort of a big focus/end game). For many reasons but mainly:

1. Team Rocket is pretty philosophical and symbolic, on so many levels. I find it fitting that different people can view them both as friends or a couple. In any case, they’re already eternal partners and that makes it even more impactful. I like it that it’s left ambiguous and remains of no essential importance.

2. Making it canon wouldn’t make sense except just for the sake of it. Even more, it’s very likely the writers would butcher something in weird ways just to craft such a storyline all of a sudden. It’s like they are already together (except for some crisis episodes like “I have a silly period/fantasy for something”, usually Musashi, and it’s a kids show so it’s understandable) + they really don’t need to marry. They’re free spirits, such traditions don’t bound them except if they do it as a motto when they see fit.

So yeah, I would gladly see more romantic plots or Rocketshipping in Pokemon, although not to get too serious, because I wouldn’t like to see Rocketshipping become canon or get any sort of sudden ‘plotline development’ which would feel kind of silly and forced. Even dumb, especially that they’ve been together for so long. Unless it’s done brilliantly and extraordinarily, semi-silly with some semi-symbolical undertones and perhaps also a bit ambiguous in a way that I can’t even imagine... but that’s unlikely, right?

In any case, whether we discuss Satoshi or Rockets, back at the start of SM... I remember many people being concerned Pokemon would shift to become more lile Yokai Watch which would ruin it because Yokai = just dumb for kids without plot and all that. But... the truth is... while it’s important for Pokemon to remain Pokemon... you actually want for it to become a bit more like Yokai Watch in many many areas (and believe me when I say that SM anime doesn't come even close to that). What would be the benefits of it becoming more like Yokai Watch in these areas? Well... making it more fun, less predictable and unlocking all the tabu Pokemon anime generally doesn’t touch. In that case: some ongoing romance and pretty amazing gags/character features.

Everything in RWBY is controlled by men, either actively or passively, and here’s a huge bullet point list elaborating on how shitty the agency of female characters is in a show billed as female driven with “””strong””” female characters.

As we will see, they actually don’t and this person is just complaining without focus.

And again: just because you have a strong female cast doesn’t mean you have to ignore the male cast. In fact: RWBY is unique in that it has an equally strong male cast, making a TRUE progressive show...and sadly, RWBY is not SUPPOSE to be progressive so that's pathetic.

It’s mostly for my benefit because I’ve been stewing on this shit for a while now but I’ll post it in the rwde tag in case anyone else wants to fully absorb this train wreck but mostly it boils down to: let the women lead their own lives

Ah huh, see here’s the thing: the gusy are just as heavily defined by the woman as vice versa. You’ll latter down the line:

Ruby: No female role models outside of her sister, but the farthest Yang’s seemed to have influenced her life is being a replacement mom which is icky and all of her skills come from her male mentor(s) or just straight magic

Being motherly is “icky?” Lady, I once saw a mother character whoop superhuman ass by sowing a rotting touch girl into concrete, cut through human-sized vines with garden trimmers and once tackled a giant with a chainsaw all to protect her kid. That kid happen to be her son and looked up to and loved his mother very much to the point 90% of his personality seems to come from her.

Not to mention her father Taiyang is completely defined by his children and losing his lovers, characters in their own right independent from him, and he only really interacts with his kids. His defining character trait is that he is the main character’s father. Next.

Weiss: Mom’s not even lucid, no other females in her life sans winter who still acts cold and distant despite the shared life experiences, Weiss is pushed around and treated like “women should be seen, not heard” manner not only by her father but by most people around her which is weird as remnant is “all inclusive” so that ideology shouldnt even exist

“All inclusive” implies Fanaus too dumbass. And even OUR society has shit like this so don’t go blaming Remannt for that.

Also: Jacques and Whitely are clearly treated as Villians in that regard and that they are massively wrong and while WInter is distant somewhat, she has been the only person to give Weiss solid advice and is Weiss’ goal for Volume 5. So that doesn’t work.

And again, we have a male too: Whitely has no personality outside of hating his sister and being a little bitch and is just an obstacle for Weiss to overcome. He has no agency of his own unlike Weiss who does.

Blake: Her mom’s kind but ultimately all her skills and passion come from the influence of her male ex-partner. Kali doesn’t even seem to be as high up in the chain as Ghira and even now most of Blake’s reconciliation seems to be happening with her dad

Okay...and? SO Blake takes after her dad: so what? Ghira and Kali are used as a parallel to Blake and Sun clearly seeing as Kali acts more like Sun than Blake so it’s obviously a counterpart thing.

Again, we have Sun who has no character outside of Blake, is completely debouted to her for no reason, has put up with a lot of crap from her and revolves entirely around her. If he were a girl it would be so offensive to you. But it’s a guy so no problem here! 

Yang: Again, no female role models. Seems to have been forced to take over parenting once Tai Yang shut down for an nondescript period of time. Current season is implying her skills came from her father mentoring her.

Again: What’s the problem with Taiyang mentoring her? She matched Taiyang hand to hand and the guy’s a freaking full fledged Huntsman: She’s being empowered by being a better fighter than her dad.

And isn’t Yang pulling herself together while her full grown father couldn’t a sigh of strength? If that isn’t strong Idon’t know what is.

The entirety of JNPR: Nora and Pyrrha scarcely even fucking talk to each other or any other female characters, neither of them have any women in their life nor does Ren. Jaune’s big family honor passed from his grand father to his dad to him, mother and sisters mentioned in passing to justify Jaune doing something “””girly”””. I’m not even going to fucking touch on Pyrrha’s existance being entirely tied to Jaune because you’ve probably heard that a million times already.

1. Gender bender: it’s more that the chaarcetrs representing guys (Nora and Pyrrha) are connected to the gril representatives (Jaune and Ren.)

2. It was never passed down to Jaune: he took it for himself. Not to mention Jaune himself was entirely reliant on Pyrrha and Ruby for character development meaning he’s just as dependant as you say Pyrrha is. In afct the instant Pyrrha dies, Jaune becomes a supporting character to Ruby. He literally drops down a peg.

3. Pyrrha’s a mentor character who is entirely reliant on her underling for support, cares very much about him and is killed for his skae? Gee, you just described KAMINA, the manly man of TTGL. In fact, Pyrrha is a stronger character than Kamina seeing as she has her own strength, gets screentiem outside of Jaune and has an arc to herself all unlike Kamina. And Kamina himself was based off a female (Kazumi Amano), was replaced by a female (Nia Tepplin) and is succeded by a female (Mako Makanchou) so the male gender is the one being trampled on here.

Emerald and cinder and cinder and salem are the only fucking female-female role model/mentor relationships in the fucking show and theyre all main antagonists and the villain club still managed to be a sausage fest

Yeah! ... And Weiss and Winter ... And Jaune would be worthless without Pyrrha...and Nora saved Ren’s like twice and taught him to calm the fuck down...And Ruby;s strength is always attributed to her mother...And Gynda’s a teacher so she HAD to have mentored them...

Also: That’s two mentors in the series. Can we get the male and male mentors....There’s only one?....Mercury and his abusive dad...who he killed...and hates...Yep.

Cinder: Accomplished her goal (kind of) but got punished for it (granted shes the villain) but the punishment was muting and crippling the single most powerful woman in the show to date sans Salem

Ozpin: Strongest Guy in the show: Gets his ass handed to him by Cinder in such a manner that she was barely affected.

Glynda: went from being Ozpin’s right hand to literally inconsequential, the men are off saving the world and protecting ozpin’s vision and she’s literally been left to clean all on her own. Pick up a hammer and nails, port and oobleck you lazy fucks

Implying they’re helping Glynda with Glynda being the spearhead.

Penny: both creators and trainers/parents are male (unfortunately not i nthat way), she was on her way to having a good relationship with ruby only shes fucking dead to further the plot so dang i guess

And she’s also the strongest non-grownup in the show, far outclassing Sun who is the strongest teen male.

The maidens: despite being the most powerful women in the fucking world (supposedly) theyre controlled and monitored and protected by a group largely consisting of men and are being successfully hunted down by another group largely consisting of men, not to mention their powers are jokes (i mean amber got taken down by two malnourished kids and cinder like what) and their one weakness is the silver eye power, which seems to be a gender neutral power

Likely so no one in the group can be temted to take the power for themselves.

Amber was said to be cocky and inexperienced Vs. three experienced fighters. Also once Cinder got the power, she curbstomped the strngest male in the show, canonically killing him.

Kali: easily best mom but seems pretty hands off in blake’s life, also notable that while her husband is an ex-WF leader and goes to meetings she just kind of sat there smiling while her husband went to do the leader junk

She also forced Blake to confront her father about leaving, called Blake out for not talking about Team RWBY and is the female counterpart to Sun, who is even less  active.

Ms.Schnee: doesnt even have a FUCKING NAME despite the fact that SHE’S THE SCHNEE. mostly feels like an after thought in weiss’ narrative, shit mom

Neither does Pyrrha’s dad and he’s not evenmentioned.

Summer: Despite being a huge influence on multiple characters the most we know of this legendary warrior is that she was a good mom and a good wife. thats it

Sis said to be a powerful Huntsman from yang and has Taiyanga and Qrow wrapped around her dead finger. Also, she raised a child that wasn’t ehrs with such love and kindness Yang didn’t even know they weren’t related. Again, THAT is strength. She’s also the reason why Ruby is so strong so she’s the source of power for the main character.

Neon: unnecessary stereotypical cattiness but maybe thats just me being annoyed she called yang fat despite them having the same body type

Not a single world leader we’ve been introduced to has been female (unless you count salem but, again, the main antagonist). No female head masters, no females in politics, no female WF leaders (kali could potentially be one but that hasnt been implied)

The world leaders are either misguided at best (Ozpin) of fucking cowards at worst (Leo) and the only WF leader we’ve seen is the racist, geocidal son of a bitch Adam so they are actually higher up than the guys.

... I have no idea what they are saying: the brother’s are a representation of creation and destruction: simple as that.

Meanwhile: Male characters are eiteh entirely reliant on females for power and/or development (Taiyang, Jaune, Ren), are treated as assholes who aren’t even true villains (Jacques Schnee, Whitely Schnee, Adam Tauras), serve under women who show favor to women (Tyrian, Watts, Hazel, Torchwick), act as people who can only help women (Port and oobleck) ect.

Ruby is still self driven and considered better than Jaune.

Weiss is treated as the one good person ina  family of shit head males/

Blake is treated as right whereas her male counterpart is treazted as wrong.

Yang is treated as stronger tan her father, a full fledged Hunstamn.

Nora restraisn Ren and has the far more standout personality that can work on it’s own.

Pyrrha is the reason behind Jaune’s development.
