Back from a wonderful weekend at the beach with the family. Three standout wines were all fantastic, but the 2009 Anthonij Rupert Cab Franc from South Africa was really singing. In that sweet spot with wonderful rich fruit and no signs of green, with developed tertiary flavors revealing layers of leather, peat, and tobacco rounding out a long finish. For #internationalsauvignonblancday we opened up a 2016 @leeuwinestate Art Series sauvignon blanc. Great notes of lime and some tropical fruit. Follows through on the palate with a great mouth feel and good tail. The Art Series label features artwork by leading contemporary Australian artists. Leeuwin Estate Chardonnay

This is the first Aussie wine to appear on this blog. Mainly because I have such fond memories of the lawns of Leeuwin at Gourmet Escape and I love chardonnay.

The 2017 Leeuwin Art Series Chardonnay shows “Japanese pear, Tahitian lime and Meyer lemon. Floral notes combine with subtle spice, highlighted by frangipani, chamomile, cinnamon and cardamom. Delicate notes of cashew, almonds, sesame and graphite are threaded in the background. Finishing with the trademark extraordinary length and balance,” 

Another great drop from  Art Series Chardonnay, the 2017 vintage is another impeccable release from this estate.

So I went to see Bernard Fanning (lead singer of Powderfinger) in concert on Saturday. He was AMAZING!! To think that I managed to get this close to one of my idols was crazy. It's pretty weird listening to them on your iPod and then physically seeing them infront of you is surreal.
