I'm really happy that, in the end, the bullies in The Glory were the ones who destroyed themselves.
It's a good, beliavable and strong message. It's exactly like Dong-eun said, she set the board, but most of it was just them being horrible, destructive people that they always were, incapable of truly reflecting about their actions or making amends.
If they stopped, at any point, maybe the outcome might have been different. They didn't, though, and instead they showed that they were forever stuck in this high school mindset and convinced that in the end everything is going to work out in their favor.
It's exactly the kind of ending this show should have had and I'm so glad this is the direction the writers took.

Moon Dong-eun
I drove back to Semyeong after meeting with Y/N. I had to get some of the things done before I go back to Seoul to tutor her niece. I parked my car in the parking lot where Hyeon-nam, an assistant I hired, was supposed to meet me.
Months ago, before I met Y/N, I was outside the Semyeong Foundation’s chairman’s house where I was busy rummaging through his garbage to find some disposed documents I needed to get into the Semyeong Elementary School, that’s when I met Hyeon-nam. She told me that she worked for the chairman and that, she threatened me she will report me to him if I didn’t give her those documents back, but soon that idea was dismissed. Instead, we made a deal. In exchange of her helping me with my plans, I am to kill her abusive husband.
This is where I found the opportunity to make her my assistant. Ever since then, she’s been doing each and every task perfectly without getting caught. We both decided to meet at an empty parking lot at the end of the day, only to not be suspected. She would get inside my car and leave behind some documents and photographs I order her to gather. She is the reason I was able to apply for the homeroom teacher’s job.
Few weeks after meeting her, I told her to drive to Seoul and get me some info on Y/N. I always had my mind made up to execute my plans alone. No, am not scared of them. But as more number of people I get by my side, the easier it would be for me.
Since she couldn’t afford a car for herself, I had a black sedan bought under my name and let her borrow it. Before doing so, she took driving lessons for a month. After getting her license, she tracked down the chairman and got me all the information I needed. She is exceptionally good at her job, most probably loyal too.
“But what about the toll booths? Won’t they charge me?”
“Don’t worry, this car is under my name. And anyways I have a tag attached to the windscreen, so it will get paid easily and you have nothing to worry about,” I point at the top right corner of the screen.
        “Alright ma'am.”
“Make sure you get all the proper information and take necessary pictures. I need to know everything, I mean everything. The place where she lives, the job she works at, whether she lives alone, everything.”
        “Yes ma'am.”
I had a picture of Y/N from when we both studied at the Sung-han High school. As far as I remember, both of us left the school mid-year. She had the advantage of using her step-father’s money to change schools mid-year, while I had to dropout. Before she encountered those leeches, she had quite many friends, and so did I, but I was closest to Gyeong-ran. We were inseparable, until I became a target to them. Ever since then, she didn’t even bother to take a stand for me, help me, nor even look at me. She behaved as if I didn’t even exist. It was the same for Y/N as well. In fact, no students nor teachers helped us out. Except, we had a school nurse who really looked out for us. She even took pictures of our injuries to use it against the person who was behind this (she didn’t know it was Yeon-jin back then). Unfortunately, she left the school after she found out it was her. On the bright side, I didn’t lose those pictures. I have plans to use these against them in the future.
Hyeon-nam got back few days after I sent her to Seoul. I told her I would take care of her husband Seok-jae and her daughter Sun-a while she was away with the excuse that the chairman sent her to Seoul for a few days for some work in order to get paid more. They undoubtedly got easily convinced. At first, she was scared that he might abuse her daughter since she would be away for a few days. I managed that as well as I sent quite a lot of money to Seok-jae through Sun-A to get him more occupied with gambling. With that, he didn’t even bother to touch Sun-A. I am still waiting for the right time to get rid of him from their lives forever.
“I got everything you asked for,” she said as she hands out a transparent file to me. Few of the contents fall onto my lap from the folder. I raise my hand to halt her from collecting them.
“That’s the apartment she lives in,” she points out to the picture I was holding. “And this is a fast food restaurant where she works,” she hands me out another photo. “I also found that to afford her university funds, she also did a babysitting job few years ago.”
“Which university did she go to?”
“The Seoul Womens’ University. She was majoring in Data Science.”
“Wait, she did a job before working at the fast food restaurant for her college funds? Didn’t her mother send her the money though?”
“Yes, because her mom thought she was grown up enough to afford her own bills so that’s why, she stopped depositing money into her account.”
“Also why couldn’t she afford a cell-phone for herself when she was still at school? I mean, her mother didn’t stop sending her the money back then?”
“Her mother simply said not to buy herself any phones, because if she did, she would stop depositing her any necessary amount Y/N might have needed.”
“They lived separately yet controlled her life, told her to do what she was told, classic parenting,” I said.
“You’re saying that she majored in data science. We have quite many reputable companies in South Korea that hire students who major in this. Then how come she began working in a fast food restaurant?”
“Well, the university she graduated from isn’t very well known. And that’s why, companies rarely recruit anyone from there.”
“I see,” I nod my head in agreement.
“Also there’s nothing really comfy about the apartment she lives in, nor the job she works at,” I said after I handed over the pictures to her. “Did you get to know anything about the school Min-hee attends?”
“Nothing much, it’s just that it’s very cheap,” she hands out an advertisement pamphlet of that school. “It’s a nursery school after all, so I couldn’t find much about it.”
“Okay,” I place the pamphlet on the dashboard.
I released the seatbelt and it slid up behind me. I looked out at the mist outside as it made the whole parking lot partially visible. The streetlights lip up the mist like a halo as if some smoke passed through it. Far out beyond the highways, I could see the glowing blue Jaepyeong Construction logo at the top of the building.
“Alright then, you’ve done enough as for now. Make a few copies and give them to me the next time we meet.”
“Why can’t I mail these to you-“
“No. Someone might find out about us. So just do as I say.”
        “Alright. Good night ma'am.”
        “Drive off before I leave.”
I got out of her car to step outside and close the door behind me as I walk towards my car. As I get in, Hyeon-nam turns off the light inside and drives off. I turn the key in my ignition and the headlights turn on to make a bright glow on the wall opposite to my car.
I steer my car towards the exit and enter the highway. Am not going home yet. I will visit Y/N after a few days. I have another job to do for now. I drive to the place where elders play a board game called Go. Quite an interesting game. One of my acquaintances taught me how to play it while I was still enrolled in Euicheon. It’s a game of who occupies the largest territory, wins the game.
The place where the elders gather to play Go is where Ha Do-Yeong goes to after finishing his work. Go seems like a favorite game of his. That’s where am going to. My plan is to intrigue him through my Go skills and make him fall right into my trap. He’s the key who will lead me to Yeon-jin, his beloved wife, a monster.

It makes sense that Dongeun made Yeonjin her dream. After all, the root of her suffering is Yeonjin. And then Jaejun simply lets her do what she wants. Between the two of them, their influence is enough to not only ruin Dongeun's life, but inadvertently the lives of those they call friends. These friends are all stuck in a cycle where nothing changes, and it is Yeonjin who makes it so. "I do it because nothing will ever happen to me, and nothing will change no matter what." (Yeonjin, ep 1).
The rot in this friend group begins and ends with Yeonjin. Her parents are wealthy, she is pretty, and nothing in her life ever changes. She has never had to work for anything, has never known lack, and similarly, her husband and job were given to her as well. Her power has never been because of who she is, but is thanks to who supports her; first her mother, then her husband. Therefore, she never suffers, whether she is bullying someone at school or at work.
Jaejun has never been challenged in his life, and everything he has has been given to him. he's never really had to work for anything, and that's one of the reasons he hardly values anything, this includes people. He only values his own ego, his dog, Yeonjin, and now Yesol, who he's found is his daughter.
Sara never had to work for anything either, and then comes the point when has to work to set herself apart, to be unique and singular. Not necessarily for herself, but for her parents. Her parents are wealthy, but sara does not seem to have nothing that profits them, except for her art, and that particular talent only manifests when she is under the influence of drugs.
As for Myeongo, he acts as an errand boy. Myeongo's presence reminds Jaejun that he is superior, and leaves him to do his errands and dirty work, just as it was in highschool. Sara and Yeonjin use him as an errand boy as well, and minor criminal activities. I'm sure they are prepared to dispose of him at the slightest evidence that he is linked to something illegal. This is why Dongeun says that he has nothing to lose but his life; he has no wealth nor does he have people who love him.
When they were younger, the violence with which Sara and Myeongo treated Dongeun reflected those who they orbited ie. Yeonjin and Jaejun. The very essence of them has only ever been an echo of a reaction greater than themselves. Sara, though Yeonjin's best friend, is the a representation of her darker side, the cumulation of her evils. I personally headcanon that Sara smokes to forget, to be able to live with herself. Myeongo is the same for Jeon Jaejun, a reflection of his hidden cruelty. I also believe Myeongo drowns himself in alcohol every night until he blacked out because he has to live, not only with the deeds he has committed but also the way he is treated.
The entire group keep Hyejeong around for much the same reason they do Myeongo. Hyejeong is a sort of yes man; she adds nothing to thier friend group, but leeches of them. Lee sara and park yeonjin keep her around because she reminds them they are better than her. Jaejun tolerates her because Yeonjin no longer slept with him after she got married, so he turns to Hyejeong. Hyejeong is aware she is pretty and ususally uses it to get what she wants, a habit started back in highschool to get the keys to the gym from the PE teacher.
A less noticed individual but equally as important is the girl who was bullied after Dongeun, Kim Gyeongran. She still is still under the friends' thumb, though she is hardly acknowledged, and is an errand girl. She works at Jaejun's store, and is seen giving Yeonjin her shoes when she is at the station reading over her news script. I have hopes that she will join hands with Dongeun and drown all of them in a polar night.
All this to say that this group of friends are still trapped in high school, in a never ending time loop. No one realizes it because the only people they accept into their inner circle is each other; its an unhealthy codependency. They may think they have progressed and become successful in life, but notice none of them have lasting relationships except for Yeonjin. None of them have anyone to really rely on outside of each other. Now, Dongeun is turning them paranoid and against each other. When they are isolated and without wealth or the support of their friends? What will they do then?

My thoughts on The Glory
[Spoilers Below]
The editing style was hit and miss for me. See I do like the cutting away from a scene at the right moment, and then revealing the rest of the scene at a later time. It keeps things interesting. But the problem is they did it too often! To the point where I kinda want someone to edit the whole show into chronological order so that they can make it clear when something happened. I mean all I really know for sure is that Myeong-O was murdered on October 19th at around 11:20pm because they kept going back to it lol.
The final episode was a bit of a mess. They can cut out that flashback reveal of the old land lady and young Dong-Eun, and replace it with much needed final shots of the three still-living members of the shitheads. I want a where are they now scene! I needed a scene of Sa-Ra, in prison either sober from drugs finally feeling shit and regretful OR now in prison more drugged up than ever before! Hye-Jeong, now unable to talk, struggles to find work, to communicate, is unable to bag a rich man. And lastly Yeon-Jin...Don't call me sadistic but I kinda wanted to see a violent scene of Yeon-Jin in prison where a group of women (preferably five) gang up on her and force her hand into boiling hot cooking oil or something. Is that crazy? idk it just felt like the final scene of her in prison wasn't enough! I need to see her skin burn!! ....uh anyway.
What I find frustrating, is that I don't know where Dong-Eun's plans and machinations end and the on-the-fly choices of the shitheads begins. It's like...what actually was the point of her becoming a teacher? Why did she reveal herself to the shitheads at the school? Why did it feel like she barely did anything? I guess the answer is 'to keep her hands clean' but idk, it feels wishy washy. Like what would she have done if Jae-Joon actually didn't give a shit that Ye-Sol was his daughter? She told Sa-Ra to fill up a bag full of cash but didn't really give a threatening reason why, Sa-Ra doesn't reeeeaally give a shit about hiding her drug problem. And WHY didn't the shitheads just KILL Dong-Eun? They were monsters as kids they should act far worse now. They're rich enough to hire hitmen ya know? Problem solved. It frustrated me because she revealed herself, openly told them that she was going to destroy them, and they DIDN'T ban together to destroy her first? They're shitheads but do they really have shit for brains??
I did like the reveal of Dong-Eun specifically targeting Yeo-Jeong all those years back, because of his family connection to the hospital where So-Hee's body was. I liked it bc a lot of times during Part 2, his rich people privilege and family connection really helped and I kept thinking "well isnt this convenient" or "its pretty lucky that he's on your side", but as it turns out; it wasn't convenient! It wasn't luck! It was part of her far-fetched "plan". Though it's pretty dang lucky that he was so devoted to her, before she even really did anything.
Dong-Eun and Yeo-Jeong have zero chemistry idgaf. Her and Do-Yeong on the other hand! Now that was chemistry! Now regarding Do-Yeong, it didn't sit well with me that Do-Yeong was the one who murdered Jae-Joon. It makes sense to protect Ye-Sol but ultimately it wasn't really in his character to do that. I wish Ye-Sol all the best and that she seeks therapy.
Also Dong-Eun's mother? Tragic, very sad, but honestly she should've taken care of her mother years ago. She didn't need to do much to get her into an institution.
Despite all my critiques, I thoroughly enjoyed this drama. It takes a lot for me to sit through k-dramas, and this one was top quality binge worthy

That one character in The Glory, Lee Sa-Ra (one of the bullies) claims to be an artist yet makes one of the most blandest soulless art I've ever seen.

There’s something so ridiculously pathetic about Sa-Ra throwing an ACTUAL TEMPER TANTRUM multiple times, often in front of her exasperated parents, full with screaming and throwing herself on the ground.
It’s so funny to see that she never grew up, she’s still very much stuck in high school, unable to take responsibility and lashing out whenever someone expects anything from her.
In a way, I think she’s even scarier than Yeon-Jin who’s smart and calculating but values her status and image above anything. Sa-Ra doesn’t worry about these things, she’s childish and impulsive and she will lash out because of the smallest of things just because she can.
