Behind Your Touch, Seul'den uzak, sakin bir kasabada geçen, gizem ve komedi unsurlarını harmanlayan absürt bir hikaye sunuyor. Veteriner Ye-Bun (Han Ji-Min), yaşadığı tuhaf bir kaza sonucu, başkalarının anılarını fiziksel temas yoluyla görme yeteneği kazanır. Ancak bu yetenek oldukça sıra dışı bir şekilde çalışmaktadır; Ye-Bun’un yeteneğinin çalışması için dokunduğu yer kaba et dedğimiz oturma organımızdır.

Ye-Bun’un bu yeteneği, kasabanın yeni gelen ve biraz sert mizaçlı dedektifi Jang Yeol (Lee Min-Ki) tarafından keşfedilir. İkilinin bir dizi yerel suç olayını çözmek için oluşturduğu dinamik, komik olmaya çalışırken kadar zaman zaman oldukça sinir bozucu bir hale gelir. Dizinin alt metninde Ye-Bun’un yeteneğiyle barışma çabası ve Jang Yeol’un kariyerinde yükselme arzusu gibi kişisel hikayeler işlenir. Ancak maalesef, senaryo bu temaları derinlemesine işlemek yerine yüzeysel esprilere ve tuhaf olaylara odaklanmayı seçmiştir.

Maalesef ki, oyuncu kadrosu oldukça etkileyici isimlerden oluşuyor. Han Ji-Min, daha önce ciddi rolleriyle gönüllere taht kurmuş bir isim. Ancak burada Ye-Bun’un zaman zaman fazla abartılı davranışları, oyuncunun yeteneğini tam anlamıyla gösterememiş gibi hissettirdi. Lee Min-Ki ise karakterine alışılmış bir komedi havası katmaya çalışsa da, Jang Yeol’un motivasyonları ve davranışları çoğu zaman anlamsızdı. Veterinerin popo dokunarak olay çözmeye çalışmasını izlerken, arka plandaki kasaba hayatı ve olay örgüsü yer yer oldukça karmaşık ve tutarsız hissettirdi.

Yardımcı karakterler de hikayeye destek vermek yerine çoğu zaman gereksiz birer dolgu gibi duruyordu. Örneğin, kasaba halkından bazı isimler tam bir mizah unsuru olarak kullanılmaya çalışılmış, ama bu denemeler genelde absürt bir noktada kalmış. Yine de bazı anlarda sahneye neşe katmayı başardıkları söylenebilir. Dizinin büyük kısmının Kore’nin kırsal bölgelerinde çekilmiş. Bu da doğal manzaralarla dolu görsel bir şölen sunmuş. Ancak bu kadar etkileyici bir ortam, böylesine dağınık bir hikayeyle tam anlamıyla değerlendirilememiş gibi.

Sonuç olarak, Behind Your Touch absürtlük sevenler için zaman zaman eğlenceli anlar sunsa da, senaryo mantıksızlıklarla dolu. Hem oyuncular hem de hikaye açısından çok daha iyi olabilecek bir iş, gereksiz detaylarla gölgelenmiş. Şahsen, her bölümde “neden bu noktaya geldik?” diye sorgulamaktan kendimi alamadım.

Behind Your Touch presents an absurd mystery-comedy set in a quiet town far from Seoul, blending quirky humor with supernatural elements. Veterinarian Ye-bun (Han Ji-min) gains an unusual psychic ability after a strange accident – she can see people's memories through physical contact. However, there's a catch: her power only works when she touches... well, let's just say it's the posterior region.

When this peculiar talent is discovered by the town's gruff new detective, Jang Yeol (Lee Min-ki), the duo teams up to solve local crimes. While their dynamic aims for comedy, it often lands somewhere between amusing and frustratingly over-the-top. The show attempts to explore deeper themes like Ye-bun coming to terms with her ability and Jang Yeol's career ambitions, but these threads frequently get lost in favor of cheap gags and bizarre scenarios.

It's a shame, because the cast is genuinely talented. Han Ji-min, known for her serious dramatic roles, feels underutilized here – Ye-bun's exaggerated reactions often overshadow her capabilities. Lee Min-ki tries to inject his signature deadpan humor into Jang Yeol, but the character's motivations remain confusing at best. The central premise (a vet solving crimes via butt-touching) grows increasingly tiresome, while the small-town backdrop and convoluted plotlines often feel disjointed.

Supporting characters mostly serve as filler rather than meaningful additions to the story. Some townsfolk are clearly meant as comic relief, but their antics lean too heavily into absurdity without payoff. That said, the rural Korean setting provides stunning visuals – though such beautiful scenery feels wasted on such a messy narrative.

Ultimately, Behind Your Touch might entertain viewers who enjoy unabashed silliness, but its potential is undermined by inconsistent writing and wasted opportunities. Even as someone open to quirky concepts, I frequently found myself asking, "How did we get here?" by the end of episodes. The show's bizarre premise could have been charming with tighter execution, but instead, it becomes an exercise in patience.

Starring Seo In Guk, one of my favorite Korean drama. I was very moved by the male character and his complexity. Their relationship is captivating, with a moving/sad story that will sweep you off your feet. Jung so min became my favorite actress through this drama.

2 ~ Because this is my first life

Starring Lee Min Ki, a drama with no headaches, a light-hearted story about a fake wedding. You'll see the male character open up over time. An endearing story that makes for happy evenings.

3 ~ Alchemy of souls 1

Starring Lee Jae Wook, I don't particularly like historical dramas, but this one transports you with its cinematography. The female character is very funny and will still take you through many emotions.

 Konusu 2015 yapımı aynı isimli filmden esinlenilmiş bir kore dizisidir. Filmde her sabah farklı bir bedenle uyanan bir adamın hoşlandığı kıza açılmaya çalışması konu edilmişti. Dizide bunu biraz değiştirmişler. Bu sefer başrolümüz bir kadın; Han Se-Kye (Seo Hyun-Jin) çok meşhur bir model/oyuncudur. Ortalama ayda bir kere farklı bir vücutta uyanır ve 1 haftaya yakın o şekilde yaşamak zorunda kalır. Bu nedenle kariyerinde kaçan oyuncu olarak adı çıkmıştır. Zaten dizi Se-Kye’nin ödül töreni sırasında değişmeye başladığını fark ederek kaçması ile başlıyor.

Se-Kye’nin bir havayolu şirketinin yüzü olarak sözleşmesi vardır. Sözleşme gereği havayolu şirketinin başkanı olan Seo Do-Jae (Lee Min-Ki) ile seyahat etmesi gerekmektedir. Birlikte bir etkinliğe katılmaları zorunludur. Bu seyahat sırasında Do-Jae ile ilgili bir sırrı tesadüfen öğrenir. Seo Do-Jae gençken geçirdiği bir kaza sonrasında yüz körlüğü yaşamaktadır. İnsanları; sesleri, kıyafetleri ve yaka kartları ile ayırt edebilmektedir. Dizide, yüzü ayda bir değişen bir kadın ve yüzleri ayırt edemeyen bir adamın ilişki anlatılıyor diyebiliriz.

Öncelikle dizide tarafların ikisi de oldukça zengin oldukları için; ortamda fakir kız, zengin erkek dramı yoktu. Buna bağlı olarak ailelerin çocuklarına hayatı zindan etmesi gibi bir durumda söz konusu değildi. Aşk üçgenleri, gereksiz kafa karışıklıkları da yoktu. Karakterler ekonomik olarak yere sağlam bastıkları gibi duygusal olarak da ne istediklerini bilen güçlü bireyler olarak yazılmıştı. Bu durum dizinin bir miktar fantastik olmasından da kaynaklanıyor olabilir. Zaten hali hazırda başrol kadın karakteri bir bakıyorsunuz 10 yaşında çocuk bir bakıyorsunuz 40 yaşında bir adam olabildiği için, ayrıca bir 3.şahıs koymaya gerek görmemişler.

Seo Do-Jae’nin tarafına bir göz atacak olursak; üvey kız kardeşi Kang Sa-Ra(Lee Da-Hee) içten içe abisinin onunla ilgilenmesini isteyen küçük bir kız çocuğu gibi hissetse de dimdik onun karşısında durup ona rakip olmaya çalışan bir kadındır. Oyuncuya bayılıyorum. Hem güzel hem eğlenceli hem sevimli sempatik bir kadın. Bence diziye kendince güzel bir hava katmış.

Diğer yanda bütün işlerini halleden sekreteri Jung Joo-Hwan(Lee Tae-Ri) de oldukça eğlenceli bir karakterdi. Han Se-Kye tarafına geçersek, onun bu sırrını bilen 2 yakın arkadaşı vardı. İlki aynı zamanda menajeri olan Yoo Woo-Mi(Moon Ji-In) idi. Bütün kayıp zamanlarını bir şekilde telafi eden fedakar ve verici bir arkadaştı. Aynı zamanda onu ailesi gibi gözetir. Diğeri ise Ryu Eun-Ho (Ahn Jae-Hyeon)’dur. Bu karakter ise herkesin sevgilisidir. Bütün yarı zamanlı işlerde çalışır, hayır işleri yapar. Hayali papaz olmaktır. Ailesine bunu kabul ettiremediği için zamanının çoğunu çalışarak geçiriyordur. Özellikle bu karaktere bayıldım. Son derece naif, doğal ve karizmatikti. İzlerken öyle bir arkadaşım olmasını isteyerek bol bol özenerek izledim. Oyuncuyu ilk önce “Cinderella and the four knights” dizisinde parlak dudak olarak izlemiştim. Oyunculuk anlamında dağlar denizler geçmiş diyebilirim.

Başrol karakterin değişimleri sırasında Kim Min Suk, Ra Mi Ran gibi tanıdık isimler görebilirsiniz. Ama bunun hazzını yaşamak istiyorsanız filmi izlemenizi, hatta izlemediyseniz daha önce izlemenizi öneririm. Çünkü filmde o zaman yeni yeni adını duymaya başladığımız oyuncular şu an oldukça tanınan isimlere dönüştü. Bu yüzden adeta bir yıldızlar geçidiydi diyebilirim.  “Bunu tanıyorum, aaa kim oynamış, vay arkadaş..” tadında heyecanla filmi izleyebilirsiniz. Dizi ise, oldukça keyifle izlediğim ilklerime girmese de kalitesini belli eden bir yapım oldu.

This Korean drama is inspired by the 2015 film of the same name. In the movie, the story revolves around a man who wakes up in a different body every day and tries to confess his feelings to the girl he likes. The drama, however, makes some changes to this premise. This time, the protagonist is a woman: Han Se-Kye (Seo Hyun-Jin), a famous model and actress. She wakes up in a different body approximately once a month and has to live as that person for about a week. Because of this, she’s gained a reputation for being unreliable in her career. The drama begins with Se-Kye realizing she’s about to transform during an awards ceremony and fleeing the scene.

Se-Kye has a contract as the face of an airline company, which requires her to travel with the company’s CEO, Seo Do-Jae (Lee Min-Ki). They must attend an event together, and during this trip, Se-Kye accidentally discovers a secret about Do-Jae: he suffers from face blindness due to an accident in his youth. He identifies people by their voices, clothing, and name tags. Essentially, the drama tells the story of a woman whose face changes every month and a man who can’t recognize faces.

First of all, since both leads are wealthy, there’s no poor-girl-rich-boy drama. Consequently, there’s no meddling family making their lives miserable. There are no love triangles or unnecessary misunderstandings either. The characters are financially stable and emotionally strong, knowing exactly what they want. This might also be due to the show’s fantastical elements. After all, the female lead can transform into a 10-year-old child or a 40-year-old man, so adding a third wheel to the romance wasn’t necessary.

On Seo Do-Jae’s side, we have his stepsister, Kang Sa-Ra (Lee Da-Hee). While she secretly craves her brother’s attention like a little girl, she stands tall as his rival. I absolutely adore this actress. She’s beautiful, fun, and charming, adding a delightful energy to the show. Then there’s his secretary, Jung Joo-Hwan (Lee Tae-Ri), who’s also a fun and entertaining character.

On Han Se-Kye’s side, she has two close friends who know her secret. The first is Yoo Woo-Mi (Moon Ji-In), her manager, who compensates for all the time Se-Kye loses due to her transformations. She’s a selfless and caring friend, almost like family to Se-Kye. The second is Ryu Eun-Ho (Ahn Jae-Hyeon), everyone’s favorite. He works part-time jobs, does charity work, and dreams of becoming a priest. Since his family doesn’t support this dream, he spends most of his time working. I particularly loved this character. He’s naive, natural, and charismatic. Watching him, I kept wishing I had a friend like him. I first saw the actor in Cinderella and the Four Knights, and it’s amazing how much he’s grown as an actor since then.

During Se-Kye’s transformations, you’ll see familiar faces like Kim Min-Suk and Ra Mi-Ran. But to fully enjoy this, I recommend watching the movie first—or at least watching it if you haven’t already. The movie features actors who were just starting to gain fame at the time but are now well-known stars. It’s like a star-studded parade, and you’ll find yourself excitedly recognizing faces and thinking, “I know them! Wow, they’ve come so far!” As for the drama, while it didn’t make it into my list of all-time favorites, it’s still a quality production worth watching.

DRAMA REVIEW | Light Shop (2024)

I don’t use the word “masterpiece” easily because it’s no easy to create a film or tv show that’s literally perfect but that’s the only way to describe Disney+ kdrama Light Shop.

Actor turned director Kim Hee Won makes a perfect directorial debut with this very human and heartfelt Korean gothic ghost love story.

Light Shop is a masterfully crafted production, every detail full of significance and important to understand the story as it progresses. No character is unimportant, all playing a key role in the lives of each other; and the performances of each actor nuance. Never giving away too much but managing to connect with the audience at the same time.

The technical aspects, such as cinematography, lighting and special effects, are simply some of the best you will ever find in a Korean drama.

This is the kind of kdrama you want to watch without knowing anything beforehand, but you should know the first four episodes are key for the world building and then, it twist and turns in order to take you on one of the most beautifully made rides.

Perfect.
