Currently thinking about Lee with an airheaded gf and how his sarcastic remarks go right over her head, how he feels the need to always explain things in small simple steps
ANYWAYS can you write a small blurb about that? Or headcanons !🤭
yes, yes, yes! I love this! sorry for taking so long to do this request, I’ve been sick on and off for quite a long time now but now I’m finally feeling better and getting to all of my requests!
Lee is definitely the grumpy and sarcastic type so I can imagine him with a sunshine airheaded gf soo well omg. I feel like after he’d had a long day, the sarcastic remarks would just keep coming so naturally and you would not understand a single one of them.
For example when you're rambling about the lessons you’d had today and which teachers pissed you off and that life is so good now that school's over, he’d say something like:
“yeah, life is good. Mr. (teacher name) should get one”
and you would just stare at him confused like what do you mean 😭. like you seriously do not understand.
“what do you mean lee? Mr. (teacher name) isn't dead? he was just teaching us! why should he get a life if he is already alive?”
He just sighs, ruffling your hair and explains like
“I meant that (teacher name) should get a life like get some hobbies and not only work because he's obviously a workaholic etc. etc.”
and you're like ohhhh
Also Lee would probably have to help you with something simple like using the microwave 🤷. Like you said he’d explain it step for step (he’s also very patient with you bc he's a good bf) and he also writes down instructions for when he's not there so you won't blow up the whole kitchen.
He doesn't trust you with things that are actually easy like cooking spaghetti or washing laundry. He’s like “lemme explain it first before you accidentally kill yourself or something bbg” He probably sends you a lot of sarcastic memes and you always respond with like “wym”, “🤨🤨🤨”, “I don't get it”
and he's like "babeee😭" and then several voice messages incoming of him explaining bc he needs you to understandd
also him consoling you bc you feel stupid sometimes for needing a lil more help with things and he reassures you that it's fine and that he loves helping you always <3

Now gracefully strung by your hand
Fandom: Criminal Minds
Characters: Derek/Spencer
Anonymous said: Prompt (fits in your existing ‘verse if you want): Spencer Reid on a low-effort case getting distracted by the others' hands while they work bc he’s thinking lee thoughts. Mayhaps Morgan or one of the others notices and does something about it 🥰
A/N: References this fic!
Words: 1.2k
Derek noticed more now. It was thrilling, in a way, to look back on past interactions and pinpoint exactly when Spencer could think of nothing but tickling, even for just a fleeting moment. And Derek knew he probably wasn’t misreading the moments, especially now that he knew exactly how Spencer was like when the thought suddenly gripped him. The lee mood, as he’d learned it was called (and which his usage of always made Spencer embarrassed in the best way). He probably didn’t associate handcuffs with it, being in the FBI and all, but Derek could remember one particular instance where he’d been joking around with him, way back when, and had asked to cuff him to see how well Spencer would survive if the need ever arose.
“I’ll be gentle,” he’d told him, and Spencer had blushed in a way Derek hadn’t yet understood.
“You thought I was gonna tickle you, weren’t you?” he asked him one day, having remembered it.
“No.” Spencer was bright red then too, but he seemed honest as he met his gaze. “I thought of it, but it- it wasn’t just that.”
“Oh?” Derek grinned. “Was it me holding you down over the table that distracted you?”
Spencer shifted in his seat, eyes now on the wall behind him. “You’re terrible, Derek Morgan.”
“Mm, you love it.”
The most innocent and captivating display of Spencer being caught up in this type of mood Derek noticed accidentally. Spencer seemed to be zoning out, staring at something for so long that Derek was certain he wasn’t paying attention to what he was watching, until he realized it was hands. And then he kept noticing it. Spencer’s gaze innocently on Hotch’s flexing hand pointing to a map. Spencer’s gaze following Emily’s fingers leafing through a case file.
He found him in the conference room one day, where Garcia was showing him something on the computer. Clicking, pointing, tapping, all the while Spencer was watching the blur of her wiggling fingers. Derek could imagine what he was thinking, caught up in it without meaning to, all wide eyed, all innocence.
“Were you watching her hands?” he asked with a laugh and Spencer jumped, face pinkening so quickly in that delicious way Derek adored.
“She has nice nails,” he said, and maybe Derek would leave it at that had he not understood what exactly that meant.
“Mm, they’re long. I bet it would tickle like crazy if she ran them over your belly.”
“Derek, oh my god, not here.”
“Why not?”
“You know why.”
Derek let out a laugh. “I do know why. I just like seeing you get flustered.”
Spencer huffed, but there was no coming back from that blush.
*
“Do you ever watch my hands?”
Spencer didn’t have to ask to know what he meant. “Sometimes. A lot of times.” He flushed and averted his eyes. “Most times.”
“Oh?”
“I can’t help it.”
“Well, you do know exactly what these hands can do.”
“Derek.” He said it softly, more out of habit than a plea for him to stop. They were alone. Spencer could indulge.
Derek too.
“Do you picture them running up your spine?” Derek demonstrated by stroking the air, index finger slightly extended, moving slowly over something invisible. “Or maybe-” He flipped his hand over and wiggled his fingers. “-gently stroking your chin? Tell me.” Spencer was bright red now, but he wasn’t looking away. “Do you ever tickle yourself and pretend it’s me?”
“Yes.” No hesitation. It pleased him. “Even when you’re around.”
Derek faltered. “But you could just ask me.”
“I know, I just-” Spencer shrugged, pulling at his sleeves. “Sometimes I feel silly asking. And sometimes I don’t really want the entirety of it anyway. Sometimes just the idea is enough.”
“I see.” Derek had to admit the image of Spencer lying in bed with Derek watching tv and slowly tracing his fingers over his own sensitive skin was kind of hot, to put it boldly. “If you ever want me to be quick and gentle, I can. Or if you want me to air tickle you.”
“Oh my god.”
“What?”
“Nothing, I just-” Spencer let out a laugh, something soft and slightly panicked. “I’m still not used to talking about it so casually.”
“I can make an event out of it, don’t worry. July 16th. Caught Spencer looking at Garcia’s hands.”
“Shut up.”
“July 18th. Got him to admit he tickles himself.” Derek laughed as Spencer shoved him, fingers automatically going for his ribs. “Oops, sorry, didn’t mean to steal your job.”
“You’re so annoying.”
“You love it when I’m annoying.”
Spencer huffed, but didn’t deny it. Derek reached out experimentally and stuck a finger into Spencer’s neck, earning a giggle, shoulder rising to stop him. “H-hey.”
“You really think I was gonna leave you alone? I’m in a ler mood.”
“Oh my god, please shut up-”
“Shh, let me tickle you. Please.”
Spencer was still giggling from the fingers on his neck. “F-fine.”
“Thank you so very kindly for your sacrifice.” He pulled his hand free, wiggling the fingers in front of Spencer’s face. “Watch them.”
“Derek.”
“Just for a moment, and imagine what they will do, okay? Because they love the attention.”
Spencer’s eyes widened. Derek knew he would probably kill him one day. He was fine with it.
*
Watching Spencer watch hands calmed Derek down, too. He noticed it on the jet one day, feeling anxious and exhausted after a draining case, and so he’d turned toward Spencer like he usually did and found that Spencer was already watching him. Or watching his hands, gaze flickering between them and Derek’s face and while he did a good job of not flushing Derek caught the telltale sign of him being embarrassed in the way his body shifted. He wondered if Spencer longed for him to wash the week’s hardships away with his fingertips on his ribs, or if he was simply so used to watching certain parts of people that it had become a habit.
Derek relaxed under the gaze either way, wiggling his fingers experimentally and being rewarded with a kick to his leg as Spencer looked away without a word. Hotch sent him a questioning look as Derek laughed, seemingly out of nowhere.
Most times he caught Spencer watching other hands, though. He wasn’t sure if he was supposed to feel jealous about it, but he didn’t. He found it cute. And entertaining. Thanks to the case which had brought them together in the first place everyone knew that tickling was a topic for Spencer. A sensitive topic, maybe because he’d gotten captured by the tickle UnSub, or maybe because he’d known more about the topic than they’d expected him to. Derek hadn’t talked to anyone else about it, because frankly he respected Spencer too much, so he wasn’t sure if anyone had pieced it together. But no one really tickled him, other than Derek. Maybe they found they couldn’t after the case. Maybe they felt it was Derek’s job.
But Spencer kept watching, maybe not on purpose, maybe dreaming more than paying attention. But each time Derek caught him earned him a blush. And how could Derek not love that?

Hello! I think your writing and TWDG AUs are the bees knees! They're full of possibilities I had never really considered and I'm glad you both exist! My favorite chapter of your 'What Ifs' fic so far is ch13, where Nick survives! <3
If it's okay, I offer some TWDG What If ideas/prompts.
1: What If - Sophie had successfully escaped the Delta, but without Minerva?
2: What If - Mariana Garcia could also survive Season 3, similarly to Gabe?
3: What If - Any of the kids (older teens and infants included) who died during the events of the game (with the exception/inclusion of Sophie because I am WEAK) survive and possibly group up and travel with Clem (& eventually AJ I guess?) going forward into the future seasons and possibly up until the final season? This leaves a lot of possibilities to do individually, or in any combination (or all at once if you feel like being huffing that writer's hubris lol) which I will list below by Season but feel free to add any you feel fit the bill or that I've missed.
S1: Travis, Duck, Fivel (he counts because he showed up as a walker & dies in the S1 attic in Savannah, his parents either died or abandoned him, willingly or forced, by joining Crawford which didn't allow kids because Social Darwinism bullshit), and Ben Paul.
S2: Michelle (the teen who killed Omid, if you're feeling brave), Omid Jr (Christ & Omid's baby, goes w/ Clem because Christa wouldn't confront bandits while holding an infant, but doesn't drown in the river pls), Sarah, Jane's unnamed baby (Determinant, Jane doesn't have to survive).
S4: Any of the Ericson kids who died (for sure) in S4, so Brody, Marlon, Mitch, and Minerva. (I didn't include Tenn because his death is Determinant in canon).
Idk call this idea 'Congrats, All Orphans' or sumthin, lol. X3
Anyways, I hope these ideas are fun and okay or helpful and thought-provoking in some way. Also, I wish you a wonderful day! <333
Aww, thank you so much for the extremely kind words! Seeing this pop up in my inbox brought a big smile to my face! I really like that chapter as well, I enjoyed getting into Nick's headspace and seeing what kinds of decisions he'd make based on his idolized idea of Luke and his desire to protect the few people he has left.
I've already gotten a request for Sophie to successfully escape WITH Minnie, but I'll see if I can come up with two separate storylines that are differentiated enough I don't have to combine the two prompts!
I've also gotten a request for Mariana to survive, so I'll definitely put your name down as one of the ones who requested it!
As for your third prompt, I love how much thought you've put into it, especially that name, which is AMAZING, but I've actually got an idea for a standalone TWDG story that's very similar to this one! The idea for that story is that Lee survives season 1, and ends up adopting every child/teenager in the series. For that reason, I'm gonna have to decline doing this one as a What If, as I want to do an expanded version of this idea as its own story, which I very much hope you'll enjoy when it eventually comes out.
Thank you so much again for the ask, and for all the requests! Readers like you enjoying my stories are what give me the motivation to keep on writing. May you have a wonderful day as well!

20 Mind-Bending Novels That Will Challenge Your Thinking and Expand Your Horizons Books have the profound ability to not only captivate our imagination but also to provoke deep thought and contemplation. In an age where content is consumed at an unprecedented pace, finding intellectual reads that challenge our thinking can be a refreshing and invigorating experience. The following 20 novels are more than just stories; they are journeys that delve into complex concepts, wrestle with profound questions, and leave an indelible mark on the reader's mind. These thought-provoking narratives not only entertain but also spark discussions on societal norms, philosophical dilemmas, and the intricate nature of human existence. Engaging with literature that pushes the boundaries of conventional thought encourages readers to re-evaluate their perspectives and approach problems with a more nuanced understanding. These novels address issues such as moral ambiguity, existential angst, and the paradoxes of human behavior. By immersing yourself in these intellectually stimulating works, you’ll not only enhance your cognitive abilities but also gain insights that are applicable to real-world scenarios. Whether you’re seeking to broaden your worldview, question established norms, or simply indulge in mind-bending stories that challenge your thinking, this curated list promises to deliver transformative reading experiences. Plot: Thought-provoking novels often feature intricate plots that challenge the reader's perception of reality and truth. These stories frequently incorporate twists and turns that force readers to question their own beliefs and assumptions. For example, George Orwell's "1984" presents a dystopian future where government surveillance and propaganda shape the reality of the populace, compelling readers to consider the implications of absolute power and control. Another example is "Slaughterhouse-Five" by Kurt Vonnegut, where the protagonist's time-traveling experiences blur the lines between past and present, pushing readers to contemplate the nature of time and existence. Characters: Characters in challenging novels are often complex and multifaceted, displaying a range of emotions and motivations that provoke deeper reflection. In Dostoevsky's "Crime and Punishment," the protagonist Raskolnikov wrestles with guilt and redemption, leading readers to examine the moral ambiguities of his actions. Similarly, in "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee, Atticus Finch's steadfast commitment to justice and equality in the face of prejudice prompts readers to reflect on their own values and the societal structures around them. Such characters serve as mirrors, urging readers to explore their own inner landscapes and biases. Writing Style: The writing style of intellectually stimulating novels often employs innovative literary techniques that engage readers on a deeper level. James Joyce's "Ulysses," for instance, utilizes stream-of-consciousness narrative, immersing readers in the inner workings of characters' minds and their chaotic thought processes. Another example is Virginia Woolf's "Mrs Dalloway," which intricately weaves multiple perspectives and shifts in time, thereby challenging conventional narrative structures and encouraging readers to piece together fragmented experiences. These distinctive writing styles not only elevate the art of storytelling but also invite readers to engage more critically with the text. Setting: The settings of these novels are frequently elaborate and richly developed, often serving as more than mere backdrops but as integral components of the narrative itself. In Gabriel Garcia Marquez's "One Hundred Years of Solitude," the fictional town of Macondo becomes a symbol of Latin American political and social turmoil, providing a vivid context for the magical realism that permeates the story. Conversely, the bleak, oppressive environment of Margaret Atwood's "The Handmaid’s Tale" offers a disturbing vision
of a dystopian society, which serves to underscore the novel's themes of autonomy, freedom, and resistance. Such immersive settings enhance the thematic depth and emotional resonance of the story. Unique aspects: Many thought-provoking novels stand out due to their unique aspects, which can range from thematic depth to experimental narrative forms. For example, "Cloud Atlas" by David Mitchell features six nested stories that span different time periods and genres, each interconnected through subtle and overt links. This ambitious structure compels readers to ponder themes of reincarnation, fate, and the interconnectedness of human experiences. Additionally, "The Metamorphosis" by Franz Kafka features the uncanny transformation of the protagonist into an insect, a bizarre premise that serves as a powerful allegory for alienation and existential angst. These unique elements not only captivate readers but also provoke them to reflect on the deeper philosophical questions posed by the narrative. Thought-Provoking Novels: Thought-provoking novels are designed to challenge readers' beliefs and stimulate intellectual curiosity. Such books often address serious and complex themes, such as existentialism, societal norms, and moral dilemmas. For instance, Albert Camus' "The Stranger" delves into existentialist philosophy through the apathetic character of Meursault, encouraging readers to question the meaning of life and the absurdity of the human condition. Similarly, "Beloved" by Toni Morrison explores the haunting legacy of slavery in America, inviting readers to confront the painful truths of history and its ongoing repercussions. These novels push readers to think beyond the surface and engage with profound, often uncomfortable questions about life and society. Challenging Books: Books that are challenging to read often require readers to wrestle with difficult concepts and wrestle with their own preconceptions. Works like "Infinite Jest" by David Foster Wallace demand not only attention to detailed prose but also an engagement with themes of addiction, entertainment, and the search for meaning in modern society. Similarly, "Gravity's Rainbow" by Thomas Pynchon is noted for its dense and cryptic narrative, which explores the impact of technology and war on humanity. Such challenging books are often not straightforward reads but rather intellectual puzzles that reward the diligent reader with rich insights and deeper understanding. Deep Thinking: Deep thinking is encouraged by novels that present philosophical inquiries or moral quandaries, often leaving questions open for the reader to ponder. Søren Kierkegaard’s "Fear and Trembling" uses the story of Abraham and Isaac to delve into the complexities of faith, ethics, and personal responsibility. On the other hand, Philip K. Dick's "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" raises questions about identity, consciousness, and what it means to be human in a technologically advanced world. These books are crafted to ignite contemplation and discussion, providing fertile ground for exploring deep-seated questions about existence and morality. Mind-Bending Stories: Mind-bending stories captivate readers by distorting reality and challenging the limits of perception. "House of Leaves" by Mark Z. Danielewski is a prime example, with its labyrinthine narrative structure and the eerie, impossible architecture of the house at its center. The book's unconventional format—complete with footnotes and varying text alignments—mirrors the disorienting experiences of its characters. Similarly, "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy presents a post-apocalyptic world stripped of conventional societal norms, providing a stark canvas for questioning human nature and survival. Such mind-bending stories stretch the imagination and challenge readers to navigate and make sense of altered worlds. Intellectual Reads: Intellectual reads are novels that not only tell a compelling story but also incorporate elements of scholarly knowledge, encouraging readers to engage with various disciplines.
Umberto Eco's "The Name of the Rose" weaves a murder mystery within the context of historical, theological, and philosophical discourse, requiring readers to navigate layers of knowledge and inference. Similarly, "Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid" by Douglas Hofstadter, though more a work of non-fiction, intricately connects mathematics, art, and music to probe the limits of human cognition and artificial intelligence. These types of reads are intellectually stimulating, expanding the reader’s understanding of various fields while delivering a profound narrative. Pros Stimulate Cognitive Function Reading thought-provoking novels and challenging books engages readers in critical thinking and problem-solving, improving cognitive function. Such books often require readers to navigate complex plots, abstract concepts, and intricate character development. This mental engagement can enhance memory, comprehension, and analytical skills, offering a more enriching reading experience compared to more straightforward literature. Expand Worldview Mind-bending stories and intellectual reads expose readers to diverse perspectives, cultures, and philosophies. This expanded worldview can foster empathy and understanding, allowing readers to relate to experiences and viewpoints different from their own. By challenging preconceived notions and encouraging introspection, these books contribute to personal growth and a more nuanced understanding of the world. Enhanced Emotional Engagement Deep-thinking novels often delve into complex emotional landscapes, offering readers a chance to explore a broad spectrum of human emotions in depth. This can result in a more profound emotional connection to the characters and story, making the reading experience more immersive and impactful. Such emotional engagement can be both cathartic and enlightening. Intellectual Satisfaction Successfully understanding and interpreting challenging literature can provide a significant sense of accomplishment and intellectual satisfaction. The process of deciphering intricate plots and themes can be mentally rewarding, offering readers a sense of pride in their analytical abilities. This feeling of achievement contributes positively to the overall reading experience. Cons Accessibility Issues Complex and thought-provoking novels may not be accessible to all readers, particularly those with limited time, literacy skills, or cognitive capacity. The dense and abstract nature of such books can make them difficult to follow, leading to frustration and disengagement. This lack of accessibility can alienate readers who might otherwise benefit from the insights offered by these works. Time-Consuming Reading intellectually challenging books often requires a significant time investment. Unlike lighter reads, these books demand careful attention and contemplation, potentially making them unsuitable for casual reading. This time-consuming nature can deter readers with busy schedules or those looking for quick entertainment, reducing their appeal. Risk of Over-Complexity Deep-thinking and mind-bending stories can sometimes become overly complex, sacrificing clarity for sophistication. When themes, plots, or characters are too convoluted, readers may struggle to find meaning or coherence, leading to confusion and disengagement. This over-complexity can diminish the educational and emotional impact of the book. Emotional Strain The emotional depth and intensity of challenging novels can sometimes be overwhelming for readers. Confronting difficult subjects, moral dilemmas, and intense emotional experiences can lead to emotional fatigue. While this can be enriching, it can also be exhausting, particularly for readers seeking escapism or light-hearted entertainment, thereby impacting the overall user experience negatively. Tickletober Day 30: Flinch
fandom: criminal minds
word count: 870
pairing: penelope garcia x reader (platonic)
summary: penelope began playing a game with you and you can't take it anymore
Penelope Garcia scared the shit out of you, but not in the way most people would think.
Penelope was a ray of sunshine. Positively delightful to be around on days when you found that you couldn’t even fake a smile and she prided herself on that. However, Penelope wasn’t shy to mischief and once she found out about your ticklishness, you were done for.
At first, it was just subtle pokes in the abdomen to get you to lighten up, but as the weeks went on, Penelope began upping the ante. She would squeeze your kneecap during meetings, pinch your sides when she snuck up behind you, and one time she even trapped you in an elevator and tickled you silly.
So, yeah, you were terrified of Penelope Garcia because you never knew when or where she would strike.
Recently, she began playing this little game with you where she would reach her hand out to your side or lunge at you unexpectedly just to see how hard you’d flinch. She had you on edge for close to a week and she hadn’t even touched you.
Your final straw was when she had faked you out after you’d returned home from a case and you looked extra burnt out. Penelope saw that you were the last one to leave, so she took the opportunity to sneak up on you and pretend as if she was going to tickle you. Of course, you had flinched and inhaled sharply, preparing yourself for her impending attack just like you did every time, but this time you’d had enough.
“UGH! Penelope!” You yelled, more frustrated at the situation than at her. “If you’re gonna do it, just do it!”
You wish you could have retracted what you’d said the second you saw Penelope’s lips curve into a smirk. “You’re giving me permission?” She asked. You sighed and shook your head.
“N-No, that’s not what I meant… I’m just tired of this little game you keep playing,” You explained yourself, turning back to your belongings to pack up for the night.
“You mean you don’t love flinching every single time I reach my arm out towards you?”
Penelope did as described, only this time actually wiggling a finger into your side, smiling as she watched you flinch out of instinct and arch away.
“Penelope…” You whined, turning to look at her with a pout. She chuckled at your reaction, holding her hands up in surrender.
“Alright, alright, I promise I won’t do it anymore. You just look a little down and I thought you could use some cheering up,” She uttered out. You sighed and looked at the ground.
“Yeah, it was a tough one. I’m just exhausted,” You mumbled, bringing a hand up to press your thumb and middle finger to your temples to try and rid yourself of the upcoming headache. You heard Penelope click her tongue which prompted you to glance back up at her, seeing that her arms were open wide.
“Come here,” She beckoned, waving her hands to silently tell you to hug her. You smiled sadly and walked forward into her arms, wrapping yours around her as tight as you could. Your head rested on her chest and inhaled slowly, taking in the moment.
You wouldn’t lie and say the playfulness of your relationship with Penelope wasn’t fun. Physical touch was your love language, after all, but this was your favorite. Just being held by someone who cared about you.
You stayed in that hug for what felt like an hour, just relishing in the weight that it held. Penelope cared for you and your happiness.
“Feeling better?” She asked after minutes of listening to your breathing. You hummed and squeezed her a bit tighter.
“Much better. Thank you.”
“Good. I’m glad. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I did say you needed a bit of cheering up,” She responded back, her tone of voice changing dramatically. You knew that tone well enough to know what was about to happen and unluckily for you, you had fallen straight into her trap.
Where Penelope’s fingers were resting against your ribcage, she began contracting them harshly and vibrating them into the crevices of the bones. You, of course, flinched at the suddenness and fell into thunderous laughter. Your legs weakened and Penelope had to hold you up so you didn’t completely fall to the ground.
“GAHAHARCIA! YOHOU TRAITOHOHOR!” You screeched into her chest, hiccupping as you struggled to catch your breath.
“As a profiler, I cannot believe you didn’t see this coming,” She taunted you, tickling every sensitive spot on your ribs and back that she could reach.
“OKAHAY! I’M FEHEELING BETTER NOHOHOW!”
Penelope ceased her attack and unwrapped her arms from around you once she was sure you wouldn’t immediately collapse to the ground, grinning smugly at the sight of your pink cheeks and ticklish smile.
“If all I need to do is tickle you to put you in a better mood, just say the word,” Penelope teased you. You scoffed and slapped her arm before continuing to put away the case files.
“I hate you,” You replied with a reciprocated grin. You knew damn well that you didn’t mean it.

Prompt: “You can do better than him.”
I decided to build this one around a scene that already existed in the movie and add onto it.
“Goddamnit, Riff, you swore ta me you wasn’t startin’ nothin’,” Graziella growled in frustration, pulling her boyfriend away from the hurried conversation he’d been having with Tony. Dances were their thing and he had assured her that tonight would be mostly about them, that there wouldn’t be any major issues with the Sharks until after. “You promised me, that we could dance first an’ then you were only gonna challenge ’em peaceable…”
Riff wrapped his hands around her upper arms and she could feel the tension pouring out of him, his eyes scanning the gym as she fumed. “I am here to dance, girly girl. Ain’t that what we been doin’?” he asked as he wrapped his arms around her, a warning look flashing in his eyes.
It was only then that Graziella realized her mistake, and she quickly pasted a smile on her face as Officer Krupke approached them.
“Challenge who to what?” Krupke demanded, looking between her and Riff suspiciously.
“Like I know,” Graziella laughed, playing the part of a dumb broad. “Like he tells me anything.” Krupke might not have been the sharpest tool in the shed, but he wasn’t a complete idiot. She hoped she’d be able to get him off their trail.
Krupke continued to eye them, obviously not believing that Riff had kept her in the dark about his plans, but he didn’t push the point. He glanced down at Riff’s arms wrapped protectively around her, and then back up at the two of them. A look of almost fatherly concern crossed his face. Unlike Schrank, who was a complete ass, Krupke actually tried his best to look out for them, in his own way.
“Why don’t you do yourself a favor and find a nice boy to take you dancing, Graziella? You can do better than him,” Krupke told her, nodding his head in Riff’s direction.
Oh God, why did he have ta say that?
Graziella could feel Riff tense up immediately, his hold on her tightening as his expression shuttered. Riff was good at hiding his true feelings from Krupke and Schrank and almost everyone else, but he couldn’t hide them from her. She knew him like she knew her own soul. She knew what every expression, every movement meant. So to Krupke, Riff might have looked indifferent, defiant even. But Graziella knew better. She knew that Krupke’s words were like a knife to his heart, that it was pain flashing in those cool eyes of his. Krupke’s comment, “You can do better than him,” served as a reminder of Riff’s greatest fear, that Graziella would leave him one day. If only he could truly understand that for her, leaving him would be like leaving behind a piece of her own heart—impossible.
Anger and a savage defensiveness rose up in Graziella’s chest when she saw how much Krupke’s words had wounded Riff. “Ain’t no one in this world better for me than Riff!” she snapped, her eyes narrowing dangerously.
Krupke raised his hands, surrender-style, and mercifully backed off.
Before Graziella could turn to calm Riff down, however, he was already jumping in to break up a fight between Tony and Bernardo. She wasn’t able to get a word in edgewise before Riff and some of the other Jets were moving towards the exit doors, intent on a war council in the bathroom.
Panicked, Graziella watched Riff go with a knot in her stomach. Her friends surrounded her, asking what was wrong, but she could barely get a word out. Riff was angry and hurt, which meant he was likely to act even more recklessly than usual. She hoped he knew what he was doing with those Sharks.

Daniel Garcia x Female Reader Requested Prompts: “hi the daniel garcia anon here again ,, it’s fine if it takes a little while, take ur time. i’ll wait as long as i need to :’)) umm but maybe “i think you look beautiful” and “shut up and kiss me” from the sensual/romantic prompts ?? those sound cute. cant wait to see it whenever ur done though ,, thank u so much !!" Rating: PG-13 Word Count: 1488 Warnings: Fluffy. Alcohol mentions and wrestling related violence. A/N: Hiiiii. Did y'all miss me? Got a sudden wave of inspiration and decided to write this request that I've been wanting to fill for a while. Hope DG anon and everyone else likes it. Promise I'll try to get back to writing more this year. Also I hope you guys had a nice christmas and a even better new year passage. Oh, it's still valid to post a new year fic after it already rang, right?
Being the new person is never fun. Especially when you are in a company where everyone is already friends with someone.
So I kind of took the opportunity to approach Eddie Kingston.
Approach as in follow him around everywhere until he finally accepted as his new friend. It’s safe to say it wasn't easy.
The first few times he shooed me away, saying all he wanted was to be left alone to eat his damn cake in peace. Other times he would just ignore me until I shut up or he would get up and leave me talking to myself.
All in all, Eddie is a nice guy that, even with his loud mouth and hot-headed behaviour, just likes to wrestle and enjoy some time with his loved ones.
Which is why it left me wondering why on earth Matt Lee, Jeff Parker and Daniel Garcia decided to set a target on him when they showed up.
Things got worse after Mox left.
“What do you want, kid?” he said as he felt me approaching, I could feel how angry he was just by the tone of his voice.
2point0 and Daniel Garcia had confronted him once again, this time at catering, disturbing his precious cake time.
“You need someone on your corner next friday.”
“And who’d that be?”
“Me!” I exclaimed with the sweetest and brightest smile I could muster.
He looked at me for a few seconds as he processed what I had just said, then he laughed. Like a full blown belly laugh, which, I am not going to lie, bothered me a little bit.
“And what are you going to do? Talk their ears off like you do to me?”
“Eddie,” I put my hand on his left shoulder and he looks at it as if my touch is burning his skin, but I keep going, “I’m fast, I’m good at distracting people and I’m weirdly strong, 2point0 got nothing on me.”
He smiles a more contained smile, “Yeah, I’ve seen you lifting. See you on friday then, kid. Don’t be late.”
Friday came and as expected, Matt and Jeff tried their shenanigans against Eddie, which ended with them getting speared through the barricades by yours truly, and that was enough to distract Daniel, who - funnily? weirdly? - smiled at me after seeing his two new dads unconscious on the floor. Eddie took his chance, hitting Daniel with a sliding d, getting the pin.
He hugged me when I got in the ring to celebrate with him, whispering “sorry for doubting you, kid.” on my ear.
Eddie became a second dad to me after that day, helping me train, being around during my matches and even picking up some of my fights.
Which is why, right now, I am completely fucked.
See, Daniel started approaching me after that match. The first time it happened was a mere few days after I knocked 2point0 out. I sat in catering after being banned from ringside for Eddie’s match against Ethan Page (I may or may not have tried to low blow him).
“Hey!” Daniel suddenly appeared in front of me.
“Oh fuck no.” I said as I got up. Daniel held my hand, stopping me.
“I promise I won’t try anything, just wanna talk.”
I sat back down. “Then talk.”
“You uh… you’re really good. In the ring, I mean.”
“Yeah, I am.” I tried to keep my face as emotionless as possible. Truth is that I could feel the butterflies awakening deep inside.
“Yeah.” he nodded.
I saw his eyes shift, paying attention to the monitor behind me. The gulp he gave signified that Eddie’s match had probably ended.
“I should probably go. See you around.” Daniel stood up and stared at me for a few seconds before finally leaving.
Things kept going like this, he would (try to) talk to me when I was alone, gifts would be in my bag waiting for me when I came back to the locker room after matches, and Dan would be staring at me incessantly when he and 2pointdorks came after Eddie and I.
Sometimes I wonder if Eddie suspects anything as he has mentioned before about how Daniel can’t stop staring at me, and almost lunged at him during one of those confrontations.
Which makes me so sad, because, you know what, I’m not going to keep beating around the bush, I like Dan. He’s cute, funny, yeah he’s super annoying and has nothing behind those beautiful chocolate brown eyes of his, but he’s sweet. It’s so nice seeing him blush whenever he comes to talk to me. I say “talk” but we exchange like, two full sentences and leave.
I wish I could tell Eddie about this, as he’s one of the few people I trust, and a father figure to me, but I know he wouldn’t take it lightly, and being honest, I’m terrified of what his reaction would be.
So, I confided in the two people that were the nicest to me since I arrived: Sonny and Julia.
Sonny thinks I should just cave in and be happy and think about Eddie later, Julia also thinks I should go and be happy, but that I have to talk to Eddie first.
Very, very helpful.
I hear a knock on my door, which I open to find two very glamorous looking Sonny and Julia, who barge in, pulling me straight to my bedroom.
“What happened?” I say, startled by their actions.
“Girl, you have to get ready for the party.” Sonny tells me.
The party is Anna Jay’s New Year’s Party. She had invited some of us, nothing too big in her words, to break the year in.
“I’ve already told you guys I’m not coming.” Don’t get me wrong, Anna is a sweetheart and I’m not one to turn down a party, especially if it includes some free booze, but I’ve been wrestling non stop this past month, and my last match with Jade left me completely sore. I’m still feeling the aftermath of her bicycle thrust kick (the bruise around my eye says a lot too).
“Daniel is going to be there!” Julia exclaimed excitedly.
“Guys, I’m tired and in pain, and if Eddie fi–“
“Girl, Eddie is all the way back in New York, he won’t find out shit. Besides, you’re a grown woman, he can suck it up and deal with it. Now go get dressed, we gotta go and get you your man.” Sonny said.
“Fine.”
I got ready in record time, dressed in a maroon plaid skirt, black turtleneck and thigh high black leather boots. I kept the make up simple, not trying hard to conceal my bruised eye.
“If Dan doesn’t make a move I will.” Julia told me, winking. Sonny whistled, and ushered us as our uber was arriving in a few minutes.
Arriving at the party I notice that it was indeed a very small get together, seeing only the ones that were in Anna’s and JB’s closest circle.
Dan stood in the back of the living room, near the window. He looks comfortable dressed in his signature denim and loose, long sleeve plaid shirt. He nurses a beer and seems to be having fun with whatever Marko is doing.
As I make my way in, JB shoves a red cup with what smells like vodka on my hand.
“Hey.” It's now my turn to startle Daniel.
“Wow. Can’t believe your dad let you out.”
“Aren’t you the one whose dads set a curfew?”
He laughs at me, shaking his head while looking down, the free hand going to his short cut hair, a nervous tick that I had noticed he had before.
“You look beautiful.” he says, staring into my eyes.
I give him a shy smile, suddenly self conscious about the state of my eye. “I got this huge ass bruise arou–“
“Still, I think you look beautiful. Bruise or no bruise, you’re beautiful.”
I feel my cheeks burning, and shyly whisper “You too.”
After a few moments of awkward silence, we picked up a conversation. We talked about our careers and our last few matches. Dan asked about Eddie, if he knew anything about the gifts he had sent me, and if Eddie would be ok with me so openly talking to him, to which the answer was, of course, “no, but I’ll deal with him later.”
We talked about music, about the drinks, moved on to the kitchen to eat the food, we laughed when Dante tried to teach Marko how to do his over the top flips, which poor Marko ended up failing.
Time moved so fast that next thing I know, they had already started the countdown.
“10!”
“9!”
“It’s almost midnight.” Daniel stated.
“6!”
“5!”
“Yeah.” I nodded.
“3!”
“2!”
“1!”
“Happy new year!” Dan said, looking deep into my eyes.
“Shut up and kiss me.” So he did.

Cordonia, Social Season
Hana Lee tried her best to look dignified despite sitting utterly alone at the high tea ceremony held this afternoon, shunned to a single table by the other court ladies. She was correctly remembering her training of folding her lace-covered hands in her lap, sitting up straight, and forcing a small polite smile. Her failed engagement last year caused her to feel like even more of a failure as she was outcasted by the women of the court.
Hana smiled at seeing Olivia and Kiara pass her table and said, "Ladies, these seats are open if you would like seats!" She said it a little too enthusiastically than she intended.
Olivia smirked at Kiara before setting her sights back on Hana. She replied, "That won't be necessary. We were discussing at our table how better to win over Prince Liam from past experiences, and well…I doubt you'd have anything constructive to add. All things considered."
Hana felt her smile fall as Kiara snickered behind her hand, and Olivia smiled victoriously. It was only the first week here, and it seemed Olivia wasted no time picking up any weaknesses Hana had. Hana felt a bottomless pit of shame forming in her stomach as she frowned. She almost wanted to excuse herself from crying in the ladies' room not to cause a scene.
"If you act like this for no reason other than to be petty, I'd hate to think how you would act as Queen." A voice with an accent not found in any neighboring region of Cordonia said from behind them.
Like all the other ladies, Jessica stood there, arms folded with a delicate dress and a small fancy hat. However, she gave a challenging glare to Olivia's way that Olivia gave right back.
Olivia scoffed and retorted, "Oh yeah? And what would you know about being Queen? You're not even from a Royal bloodline."
Jessica shrugged, "True. But I know how to treat people with kindness, and so does Lady Hana. We both know that kindness will be some brownie points in Liam's final decision to pick who will help him rule Cordonia with grace and compassion by his side."
Olivia snorted in disgust, "That shows what little you know. Cordonia needs a stern but fair ruler, not kindness and fairytales." Kiara nodded, even though it looked like she agreed to agree.
Jessica unfolded her arms and waved a dismissive hand in Olivia's way. "Whatever, Olivia…Is this seat is taken, Lady Hana?"
"Not at all, Lady Jessica. I would be honored to have you sit with me." Hana gave Jessica a grateful smile, beaming from ear to ear.
Jessica gave a genuine smile, "I'd be happy too." She glared at Olivia and said, "Do you need something?"
Olivia huffed and stormed off with Kiara on her heels. Jessica mumbled, "God, she is such an ass."
Hana gasped softly, "Lady Jessica!"
Jessica raised a brow with a smirk and said, "As if we're all not thinking it. And please, just Jessica is fine. Especially in private."
Hana gave a slight smile. "Well…I suppose I may have thought that in more dignified terms."
Jessica tilted her head as a server laid a fine china plate and finger sandwiches on the table. She waited till he left before whispering to Hana, "Why do you let her talk to you like that, Hana?"
Hana frowned and replied, "I guess because it's true."
Jessica scoffed, "It is not true at all. I can guarantee you, Olivia, and her table wasn't even discussing past relationships or whatever; she just said it because she knows it gets to you."
Hana looked down at her swirling cup of tea as she spoke, "Because… It's a weakness."
Jessica laid her hand on hers to gain her attention, giving her a stern look. "No, Because it's all she has. Can Olivia play piano, dance ballet, cook tiny foods, or any other training you've had? Seriously, you have more talent than any of us here, and even I can see that in the short week I've been here!" Jessica took her hand away and raised her brows at Hana to listen to her. "I grew up with girls like Olivia back in New York. They feed their egos by putting down others. You're giving her too much power."
Hana gawked at that and asked in a hushed whisper, "How?"
Jessica folded a napkin as she said, "Because you allow her to talk to you like that, and she knows you won't do anything about it. You're a free power trip ego boost for her. I know you can't exactly hit her or anything, and she's the type that would win in that area. But you have to start standing up for yourself… You're sweet, Hana, but there's a fine line between sweet and pushover. You deserve better than to take that disrespect from the likes of Olivia or any other contender here."
"I just…My parents would disapprove of me being rude. I was raised to be kind and polite, smile, and accept things like that. That's just courtly life." Hana mumbled while looking at the liquid in her cup.
Jessica ended her rant with a spoon clank against her teacup as she stirred in a lump of sugar. "Yeah, well, It's your life, and you shape it. Fight back in the most Hana way possible while still being dignified." Jessica smiled at her and whispered, "For what it's worth, I'm glad I found a friend among these jerks. Cheers."
Hana smiled but thought of what Jessica said.
Years Later…
Hana sat at the table, absent-mindedly stirring her teacup as her Mother, Lorelai, spoke. The tea flavor reminded her of so many years ago, giggling with her newfound friend Jessica Garcia at a social season after Jessica defended her and gave her advice.
Something caught her attention that made her stop clanking her spoon against the delicate china as her Mother said, "And he's from a fine bloodline as well. Not Royalty like we so hoped for you years ago but an aristocratic family nonetheless."
Hana blinked while she looked up at her Mother and replied, "What?"
Her Mother rolled her eyes, "Honesty, Hana Lee, have you not been paying attention this entire conversation? You need to do better. Men like a good listener, not a girl gawking at what he says." Her Mother sighed, "He's to come at two tomorrow. I want you to wear that silk orange dress with the lotus flowers to represent his family's crest. And-"
Hana felt her grip on her spoon tighten more and more as her Mother spoke. Something in her couldn't agree. Years ago, she would have nodded and agreed but after everything…
Hana interrupted her Mother. "No."
Mrs. Lee faltered and replied, "I beg your pardon?"
"I said No, Mother," Hana mumbled. Anxiety twisted her stomach as her Mom gasped and gave her an outraged look.
"No? No to a life of security? No to making your family proud?"
"Yes...No." Hana shook her head and continued, "No! NO!" She voiced louder. Louder than what she ever had before.
Her Mother shed her, and she stood up and exclaimed, "No, Mother! I have done nothing but try to make this family proud! I have taken every class, studied every subject, rejected a normal life with normal friends all because of what you and Father want for me…Well, what about me?"
Her Mother genuinely looked taken aback, "But Hana, we are thinking of you!"
Hana sighed as people around them stared, "I understand that but are you? Are you thinking of my happiness? Or just the fact you won't have to burden yourselves with worry any longer?"
Lorelai stared at her daughter a moment before shaking her head. "What happened to my sweet Hana? Ever since you left home to join the Cordonian Social Season and started parading around with that commoner from America-"
Hana cut her Mom off, "You're right! Because that American helped me realize my opinion on my life matters more than anyone else. Even my Parents. And that American has a name, Jessica, and she was my first true friend. She showed me that I have a voice and choices with what I want. You can't even blame her now, Mother! I haven't seen her in years; this is all me. This is all your daughter."
She smoothed out her dress and lowered her voice. "I want you to cancel that suitor's arrival because regardless, I won't be here."
Lorelai gawked with a scolding tone, "Excuse me? And where pray tell are you going, Hana Lee?"
Hana sucked in a breath, straightened her posture, and said, "I have a business meeting. Instead of using our status to find a suitor, I'm using my connections to design clothing and send it out to boutiques. I'm excellent at stitch work, know the latest trends, and have a perpetual eye for color matching. I'm creating my own life. I have been on the fence for years on whether to go live my life on my terms but you setting up yet another suitor without my consent behind my back is the last straw."
Her Mother stared at her in shock with a tear in her eyes. Hana tried not to let her Mother's emotional turmoil persuade her to change her mind. She curtsied towards her Mother and said, "Love you and have a good afternoon, Mother. Tell Father the news at Dinner because my mind is made up, and I won't attend Dinner just to be lectured on what I shouldn't do with MY life."
Hana turned on her heels and walked away. The sadness and guilt she felt at being disobedient to her parents, who had their way of caring for her, outweighed the pride she felt swelling inside her chest.
She grinned as she rounded the corner and made her way to her chauffeur. She sat in the backseat and told him to take her to her home to start packing to take her already made designs to Paris tomorrow as she couldn't help grinning.
'Jessica would jump up and down with me and probably tell me I'm a…Badass or some other American nickname. She'd smile and tell me it was about time I stuck up for myself against my strict parents.' She thought with a giggle before she lost her smile.
She missed Jessica. Jessica was such a good friend to her, her only friend; now she was gone, and there was no way even to contact her. She talked to Maxwell over the phone and was on good terms with Olivia and Drake, but they were the two people she talked to the least, and Liam was too busy, and it always hurt him for days after they spoke about her.
Hana felt a pain in her chest as she realized she'd have to celebrate this small victory with herself…One thing she did know was that she needed a Cronut for this occasion.
She took out her phone and dialed the number of her pastry chef at the house. "Chef? Could you pretty please make those Cronuts I had you learn to make? There was no reason; it felt like it was an appropriate time to have one."
Months later...
Jessica walked down a crowded Soho street eating a zebra cake in search of something to wear to her 2nd official date with a private investigator; she met him while she was executing a warrant on EROS, a dating website that Jessica herself tried but found her date lackluster and too much like an off-brand Liam. She didn't know if she wanted to stab him with her salad or dinner fork; she chuckled at the thought during the date knowing two things were true. Bertrand would be proud that she could still tell the difference between forks and that her selection of a dinner fork to stab robot Liam would be most appropriate for the task.
When she was done with her wrapper, so looked for a nearby trash can when something in a store window caught her eye; it was a mannequin. She noticed the lace details and embroidery. It reminded her of something she once owned a lifetime ago, a dress that was very special to her but left behind in the apartment she shared with someone she tried to buy a carbon copy of, but no one, not even a robot, could come close to Liam. Somehow Damien Nazario caught her eye; whether it was the thrill of working together or the fact Damien seemed to help her forget the hurt of her past, Damien was slowly breaking down all the walls she had built up to stop the hurt.
Jessica entered the store and made a B line straight to the display near the mannequin. She eagerly looked at the tag, and it said "Hana Lee Designs" Jessica smiled to herself as she touched the label and found herself silently crying. She remembered the moment in Shanghai when Hana approached her and told her that she had spent all night sewing the dress by hand and explained the stitching to her that her grandmother had taught her. She remembered her memory of that dress laying on the floor deck of a boat after she and Liam made love that day; he showed her Koi fish up close, which led to her mind flooding with memory after memory of the unfinished life she left behind.
Her thoughts were interrupted by the salesgirl. "Hello Ms., I see you have your eye on that dress it's our best seller this week!" Jessica turned to her with the dress in her hand, her eyes watering, and said, "I will take it." The salesgirl smiled and said, "Sure, is there anything else I can help you with?"
Jessica thought for a second, and her phone rang. The caller ID said, "Sir" she held the phone in her hand and picked it up, and said, "Hello" the deep voice responded, "Hola Preciosa. ¿Qué estás haciendo?" (Hey beautiful, what are you doing.)
