Prompt: School!AU SasuIno, fighting for the place of “main bitch of the school” (love/hate, slow burn)

A/N: For @im-a-friend-you-need for the @narutosecretsanta ! Ahaha, Sasuke was a little hard to twist into this AU until I remembered Kare Kano and then BAM, idea.

Ino knew how to handle fame. Ever since preschool, she’d always been the most popular kid in her year and sometimes even her whole school. And why wouldn’t she be? She was gorgeous, with her cheerleader figure, long blonde hair, and bright blue eyes. With a charming smile, witty attitude, and the generosity to help her classmates, it was little wonder she was the center of every party, play, or even music recital. Every club named her an honorary member, and she’d saved the student council more than few times. Her classmates loved and admired her. Her teachers adored her. People lined up to confess their love. Fanclubs watched her every move.

In short? Ino was used to attention and knew how to handle the spotlight.

“Ino-chan!” A girl waved eagerly as Ino stepped on the schoolgrounds. Her ponytail bobbed as she bounced on the balls of her feet. “You look as amazing as ever.”

And in high school, that hadn’t changed in the least. Smiling graciously, Ino waved back. “Thanks!”

A senior approached her from her left, several papers in his hand. “I know that you wanted to help the student council only occasionally, but something—”

“I’ll stop by at lunch.” Ino carefully took the papers, making sure not to crinkle them. “We’ll figure it out.”

“Oh, thank you.” He slouched slightly, relieved.

Ino hummed as she continued to greet her loving fans. Honestly, what would they do without her?

A loud squeal behind her answered her question and Ino stopped stock-still at the infuriating sound. She didn’t have to turn around to know why people’s eyes slid past her, why she was suddenly the moon to someone else’s sun.

She pivoted anyway, fighting the urge to scowl as Sasuke Uchiha walked onto the school grounds, utterly uninterested in the attention he was getting.

One of these days, she was going to kill the bastard for doing this to her.

“He doesn’t even care!” Ino whined, lying on a bench in the school’s greenhouse. There were very few places where she could fully relax here, the chief too being the greenhouse and the roof. Unfortunately, the teachers kept the key to both.

Fortunately, her best friend and somewhat nerd, Sakura Haruno, was in charge of watering the plants in the greenhouse. With her key, it was easy for the pair to slip in for a private lunch, away from prying eyes and ears. Finished eating, Ino rested her head on Sakura’s lap as she ran through her daily rant.

“Like if he wanted it or even cared for it, I could respect that. I’d hate it, but I get it.” Ino crossed her arms, scowling as she remembered this morning. Sasuke had walked past the throngs without so much as looking at them. “But he doesn’t care! And no one is bothered by this.”

“You are,” Sakura replied absentmindedly, flipping through her science textbook as she listened.

“No one else is bothered by it,” Ino amended grumpily. “He doesn’t put in any effort and they all just eat out of his hands.”

“They eat out of your hands too,” Sakura reminded.

“Not as much they eat out of his!” Ino crossed her arms. “I mean, I get it. He’s hot. He’s smart. He’s a jock. He’s a freakin’ triple threat. But doesn’t anyone care about how he acts?”

Sakura flipped another page, her response automatic. “I don’t know, he doesn’t seem that bad.”

“No one looks at me when he’s around.” Ino glared up at Sakura. When her friend just scanned the page, she reached up and tugged her soft pink hair. “You’re not even looking at me now.”

Sighing, Sakura put down her book. “There. Happy? I’m looking at you now. Why do you even care so much about how popular Sasuke is? You’re still top in the school.”

“I’m second!” Ino hissed.

Sakura raised a brow, bemused. “That’s still really popular.”

“I know you’re a nerd and think you’re above all this,” Ino growled, “But you’re second smartest to Shikamaru and you bitch about that all the time.”

Immediately, Sakura stiffened. “That’s different!” She scowled, pouting childishly as she thought of their classmate. “He doesn’t even study and he gets perfect grades. I don’t think he even knows what we do in class.”

“Well, it’s the same thing here!” Ino retorted. “I bet Sasuke doesn’t even have a skincare routine! And he’s so goddamn gruff and abrasive and everyone still likes him.”

Calming down, Sakura smirked and leaned forward. “You used to.”

“That was before he stole my position,” Ino grumbled. Suspicious, she squinted up at her best friend. “You still like him.”

Sakura flushed, her face matching her hair. “Okay, but in my defense, he is really hot.”

“That’s why you don’t care, you’re on his side!” Ino poked Sakura’s stomach. “Traitor.”

“Bitch, you used to oogle him with me.” Sakura swatted Ino’s hand away, shaking her head. “Honestly, if anyone saw the real you…”

“Well, that’s why we eat alone.” The bell rang and Ino sighed, getting up. “We’re going to crush him.”

Sakura picked up her bento and wiped her skirt as she stood. “We’re?”

“We’re,” Ino repeated firmly, smirking. “You’re smart, think of something.”

If Ino really wanted to, she could have been the student president. It was a popularity contest, no matter what anyone else said, and it would have been a cinch for her to win it and take the top spot. It was also entirely too much work for her and she was more than fine with letting other people handle the menial tasks while helping out with some of the more visible promotions.

Actually, she would have been vice president if Sasuke had applied.

She could feel her brow furrow at the thought and she forced herself to smile. Frowns made wrinkles and she refused to sabotage her skin regime because of that douche. Even worse, she was standing in the school foyer, handing out flyers for the school festival—she couldn’t let her adoring fans see her as anything but their bubbly idol.

“The school festival’s in a month!” she called out, forcing a cheeriness in her voice. Recognizing a brunette passing by—Tenten, from her math class—she pressed a flyer in her hands. “You should sign up.”

“Huh?” Tenten looked at her quizzically, then at the flyer. She grimaced. “You know I can’t dance, right?”

“That’s fine! There’s other things to do.” Ino grinned, slipping into a martial arts stance. “I hear you’re pretty good at fighting.”

“More than good,” Tenten corrected with a wolfish smile.

“Well, we’re thinking of having a martial arts demonstration, and it’d be great to have someone who really knows what they’re doing.” Ino tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear and sighed. “But if you can’t, we’ll just have to find someone else��maybe Neji…”

Tenten bristled immediately. Good. It seemed that the rumours were true—she couldn’t handle being second to Neji. “It’s fine. I can do it.”

“Great! Thanks!” Ino internally pumped her fist. Now all she had to do was lure Rock Lee in by using Sakura as bait, and they were all set. As she watched Tenten leave, she heard a set of footsteps behind her. “Hi! The cultural festival is looking for…volunteers…”

She trailed off as she stared at Sasuke. Judging by the gym bag slung around his shoulders, he must have been heading to basketball practice. A small part of her had to begrudgingly admit that he at least worked at keeping his body in shape; there was a reason girls tried to sneak into the gym when he trained.

Ino had seen his abs in person a few times and well…if he hadn’t been her (self-appointed) rival, she’d be all over him. He raised a brow as he looked at her impassively and Ino flushed. She’d been staring.

Stupid.

“Yeah, uh…volunteers.” Gathering her wits, she pressed the flyer on his chest. If she was lucky, he’d treat this like he treated everything else: dismissively. Maybe he’d even forget that she’d been staring or just shrug it off. “If you have the free time.”

“I don’t,” he replied bluntly, though he did take the flyer. She tried not to shiver when his hand brushed hers.

“Oh, that’s too bad.” He was far too close, but she couldn’t take a step back. It’d be showing weakness. “I guess you’re too busy with the team.”

“Yeah.” Oddly, he didn’t leave. Instead, he lazily scanned the paper. “You’re on this too?”

Ino blinked. She hadn’t thought she’d even registered on his radar; he showed almost no interest in anyone outside of his teammates. “Uh, yeah. Just helping out a bit.”

“Cool.” Sasuke looked at her now, and she fought back her blush. His stare was even more intense this close. “You shouldn’t.”

It was like a bucket of cold water washed over her. Unable to stop herself, she glared at him. “Why?”

Sasuke shrugged dropping the pamphlet on the ground. “It won’t work.”

Despite the angry flooding through her, she fought back the urge to yell at him. People were watching. She was in the middle of the school. He was not going to best her. Forcing her smile back, she asked, “Why? You think I won’t do a good job?”

Okay, maybe she hissed more than asked, but at least her voice was low enough that no one else could have heard.

Sasuke raised a brow, clearly not expecting this reaction. Maybe everyone else took his insults without arguing, but Ino refused to. “You’d do a good job.”

“What?” Ino resisted the urge to tear out her hair. What was with this contradictory bastard? “Then why shouldn’t I do it?”

“You have even less time than me.” Sasuke shrugged. Clearly done with the conversation, he side-stepped her and continued down the hall.

Ready for an argument, Ino dug her heels, opened her mouth, and—

“Huh?”

He glanced at her over his shoulder. “You’re overworking yourself.”

“Huh?”

For once, Sakura didn’t read her textbook, do her homework, or anything else really as she listened. Instead, she thoughtfully tapped her chin with her pencil. “That’s good, right?”

Ino shot her an incredulous look. “I thought you were listening. How is that good?”

“Well,” Sakura slung an arm around Ino’s shoulder with a shit-eating grin, “That means he’s been paying attention to you, right? He couldn’t have known how much you do otherwise.”

She couldn’t argue with that. Reluctantly, she nodded. “Yeah…but how is that good?”

“He’s looking at you.” When Ino stared at her blankly, Sakura groaned and ran a hand through her hair. “I swear to god you are so dense sometimes. Isn’t half the reason you keep bitching about him because he didn’t know you existed? Well, he clearly does know.”

Ino’s jaw dropped. Hackles raised, she punched Sakura in the arm. “What are you talking about? And here I thought you were smart.”

“Nah, you’re just dumb.” Sakura snorted, rubbing her arm. “I don’t get why you’re complaining. He’s right, you know. You’re in waaaay too many things. You’re going to burn out.”

“You’re just taking his side cause you like him,” Ino growled, crossing her arms and looking away in a huff. And here she thought she could rely on her best friend. Clearly not.

“Ino.” Sakura rolled her eyes and got up. “I’m going to toss my trash…just think about it, okay?”

Ino grunted undignifiedly, refusing to look as Sakura left the greenhouse. She should have expected this, really. Sasuke was a triple threat after all. Even Sakura wasn’t immune to his charms. No one in the school was, really, which was why she had this problem in the first place.

So what if Sasuke had been a little concerned? Was that even concern? The entire conversation had been confusing and infuriating as hell—did he even know how to speak properly? All it had proved was that she’d been right.

Sasuke clearly had to get knocked down from the most popular position. Maybe then he’d learn how to talk to people properly. At the very least, she’d be able to oogle him in peace. Hearing footsteps, she stubbornly looked away as Sakura returned. “I’ll forgive you if you come up with a plan to take him down.”

Sakura didn’t respond.

Apparently Sakura was just as mule-headed as she was. Ino frowned. “Come on, it’s not that hard. You know Naruto, right? Just use him to get some of Sasuke’s weaknesses and I’ll figure out the rest.”

Still, Sakura didn’t respond.

“What, are you angry?” Ino rolled her eyes, turning around. “It’s not like—”

Sasuke stood behind her, his expression unreadable. In the distance, Ino spotted a panicked Sakura poking her head in through the door.

How this happened, Ino had no idea.

“How long were you here?” Ino asked weakly.

“Long enough.” Even his tone didn’t give anything away.

Shit. Ino felt the blood drain form her face. Shit shit shit. There was no way she could wiggle her way out of this one. “…what’re you going to do about that.”

He didn’t reply, only smirked, and she shivered.

Silently, she prayed that they got struck by a meteor. The end of the world didn’t sound half to so bad compared to whatever he had in store.

no one requested this: konoha 12 as people i knew in college

(I was in a sorority so I knew some really wild people and I’m still in a few group chats from undergrad which had me thinking)

Naruto is just this happy-go-lucky dude who tries so, so hard and he’s not really great at what he tries the first time around but people have watched him fail so much that they just all look out for him at this point. He has a little bit of a fan base going on because his perseverance is so admired. He keeps getting interviewed for the campus’s news show.

Sakura is fully the bitch who goes out of her way to “kill the curve” in organic chemistry tests. She doesn’t want to just be better than everyone else. Others must fail.

Sasuke is this dude in my astronomy class who wore sword-print cargo pants. I was so afraid of him. He sat two seats away from me. On my other side was this girl who carried a pocketknife around in a small, fashionable backpack. I tried to set them up so that they would know i was useful, should they attack the class.

Shino is the guy who has the biology class that has an extra credit assignment of collecting 25 pill bugs, and instead of ordering them online, he goes into the woods and truly forages for them.

Hinata is the girl who also has a pocket knife in her fashionable backpack, but doesn’t take it out in the middle of class. Rather, she shares it with me in the bathroom, unprompted.

Kiba is the dude in the really fun frat who is fully a sixth year at this point. He’s so charismatic. People have soo much fun w him. But still, it is what it is. He won’t graduate.

Shikamaru is a dude who has a full-time job offer by junior year, but is still out here in some nerd frat just vibing. He whips out a rubik’s cube at a party and solves it waaaay before it ends. He rebukes many attempts to flirt with him. He is high out of his mind. The one time someone manages to bring him home, he can’t get hard.

Ino is the president of her sorority who only ran because no one else competent was running for the position, and she actually really held it down through a lot of shit. she seemed super vapid at first, and she lowkey is one of those mean girls who decided to go into medicine, but so is sakura soooo. she’s good.

Choji is a sweet, sweet dude who works at the on-campus starbucks and knows your name if you go there like 3 times a week. he works nights and the starbucks is in the library so sometimes people just get weird and spill some unnecessarily personal shit, but he works with it and remembers if you are having a bad time and gives you a free coffee.

Neji is dead silent and so go damn fashionable. he very clearly knows exactly what he’s doing at all times and very much gives off the vibe that he is not here to make friends. he’s the president of some honor society. but then you see his goofy ass friends and you realize you have mutual friends, so if he can handle them, you are now friends, too. he is surprisingly open to this arrangement.

Tenten is a proud member of both a dance team and the hula hoop club. She does these crazy stunts and her body is like jello. She also brings her stack of 9 hula hoops to class like it’s nothing and doesn’t address the fact that they take up so much room. Look away.

Rock Lee is the one dude on the dance team who is also in a frat and is having the time of his life. he’s so talented and so wholesome and everyone shares the desire to protect him. gives awesome hugs.

ABOUT CAL

born in jeju-do and lived there until he turned around 8 to 9 years old to two muggles / no-majs.

moved to california (haha) do to more family opportunities there. not only that, but they wanted to see how he would do in a new country!!! he goes by the name calvin.

funny enough, not too long after they got him into school, he discovered his magic and started getting weird looks from other kids in his school because of it! pretty soon, they all started rumors about him and he felt very alone there

after they got him out of that school in hopes of trying to figure out what was wrong with their song, a wizard from the school of ilvermorny stops by their houses and helps give his famiy information on who cal is and about the school. wanting the best for him, they enrolled him into the school.

wonderful! he’s in an environment surrounded by other people like himself! surely that means that he’ll be in a better mental state, right? not quite. thanks to the fact he revealed that his parents who are no-majs, a group of kids at ilvermorny started picking on him because of that. so much so that they pranked him and essentially humiliated him in front of the entire year if not the entire school. the leader essentially traumatized him enough that it becomes his boggart.

desperate to move back home, cal goes to his headmaster and asks if there’s possibly a school of magic he can transfer to in south korea. they find one in the city of seoul, talk to his parents about it, and moved back there!!! and there, he worked his damned hardest to excel in magic (except in herbiology teehee) to prove that he was more than just a muggleborn wizard and that his magic is his own.

around this time, he also decided to go by the nickname cal, half of his english name so that he could remember all the pain he went through and use it as motivation to work hard. trying to make something better out of it!!!

enrolled into mokseong (house geumseong haha house pride) with outstanding grades with a transfiguration major and a minor in muggle history.

has been trying to succeed more and more ever since. that’s why he’s a prefect and the president of the transfiguration club!!!

personality wise? easygoing and charming!!! will try to find a way into your heart, platonically or not! will tease you just to get closer and make u laugh (or be pissed w him he is not afraid)

very intelligent and analytical. he wants to learn a LOT and in some situations, it’ll just be him being nosy bc he wants to know more about a person.

though he’s always trying to be a good role model, if u mess with him, he will prank u!!!!

outside of campus, you’ll usually find him at madame menageries, asking madam about what she knows about each class and information about students ... sometimes at joyful jokes because prankster

PLOTS!

with depth

you are his rival! you essentially cannot stand him because of the fact that he’s gotten more achievements than you. no matter who you are and what your family is, you try to find a reason to doubt whether his achievements were earned for him. and a part of you is still trying to find something to be better at than him. cal is secretive when it comes to talking about his past, but he seems to be open about investigating others and wondering about theirs. it’s almost to the point where you want to do the same to him, not only because it’s bothering you how he does it carefree to others, but because you are genuinely so curious about his reasons. he finds it charming that you wish to know more about him, but he finds it annoying how insistent you are. cal should’ve been more aware of who he was throwing pranks on because the moment he threw that he threw a dungbomb at you and he saw the way you react, he knew it was over for him. and though he tries to act all buddy-buddy with you about everything, you still want to get back at him for such a childish act!!! (0/1)

in contrast to the last four plots, this plot is more adoring of cal. you admire him and his resilience as well as how hardworking he is. you do recognize that sometimes he can be a bit much, but you can’t help but feel as if he’s someone to look up to!! you don’t even have to be close to him to know that he’s wonderful!!! (underclassman to junior, 0/1)

while cal dares not to play the sport, he has a fascination over quidditch. specifically, how the players act with it. though not a player, he is a fan and he is willing to give advice to people who are new to the game or are now taking an interest in it. dare he say it, he’ll be face paint kid and even give you a test to see how well you know it. (0/1)

transfiguration is your weakness and you wish to improve on it. why not go to the help of the transfiguration president? he’s always willing to help those who struggle at what he’s best at. (0/1)

having muggle parents and essentially “lived” as a muggle for part of his childhood, you wish to know more about his experience as living in that environment. whether you wish to share similar experiences or learn more about it for an assignment, you go to the young geumseong student for help. (0/1)

though cal is essentially easygoing and carefree, he is still a prefect and will hold that responsibility. so if you’re a troublemaker geumseong student, even if he’ll sometimes tag along with your mischief, know that you will be given a warning from him. (0/1)

you want to dye your hair a new color and you go to him, a colovaria master, to ask him for advice on which color you should try and if he can put that color on you!! just to be safe!!! (0/1)

though he’s very vocal about how he is proud of being in geumseong (esp bc of professor aurora song saying she’d be in that house), he does like hanging out with hwaseong students. specifically you because you’re his partner in crime when it comes to pranks! yes you both frequent joyful jokes together. (0/1)

EX PLOTS!! it’s very clear that cal is the charming type and he’s even charmed his way into some people’s hearts~ but of course, love isn’t primarily his main focus now. so naturally, he’s gotten with a few people and you could’ve gone for a few months, but one’s thing for sure is that there’s reasons as to why you are split, heavy or not. he’ll also bond with hogwarts alumni, but he’ll make fun of your accents.

bilingual, so go to him if you need help speaking either korean or english!!! or even if you want to speak konglish to him.

L'opportunità per me di ascoltare un altoparlante EgglestonWorks è arrivata tramite il mio amico e collega, Marshall Nack. Alcuni di voi lettori a lungo termine potrebbero ricordare la recensione approfondita di Marshall dei Rosas di EgglestonWorks. Update + Week 1 recap (Nov.7, 8:21 PM US Mountain Time)

Today marked the final day of the first week since this whole ordeal began. Truthfully, it feels like we somehow transported to the Dramarama video because time seemed to stop, but alas, here we are.

For the recap, I’m not going to put specific dates, but for today’s update, I will title it as such. You’ll see - this should be a pretty easy format to follow (tiki-taka),

When news broke out regarding a Wonho’s sudden departure on October 31 (US and the like time-zones), may have been November 1 for other zones, there really weren’t that many updates in the way of efforts to bring him back. That day was full of shock, so everyone was more angry and depressed - even more so compared to now.

But after a day or two, Monbebes managed to channel their emotions into a bigger cause: Bringing Wonho home, and bringing him home we will.

Let’s recap:

Twitter Monbebes, Carter and Kei, organized the GoFundMe to raise $10,000 USD to purchase an ad in NY Times Square.

Within 45 minutes of initial service, the goal had been met.

After a couple days, the donations kept piling in and finally, as of November 3 - the GoFundMe closed at $25,102 USD ($15,102 USD over the original goal).

The ad’s payment was successful and the ad went up! However, my understanding is that the ad’s run-time ends in a few hours.

Ad’s location: New York, 42nd St. and 7th Ave., facing east.

The board kicked off on November 6 and ran 30 times per hour for 15 seconds all day except 2-5 AM.

A petition calling to keep Wonho a member of Monsta X was published. Within a week, the petition is still going pretty strong with over 400k signatures. The goal is 500k, so I predict it will reach its goal within the next week.

Since this day, however, more projects have been revealed, so once I compile all of them, I’ll add them to the previous link.

Let’s remember:

K-MBB left sticky notes on Starship Ent.’s building. Eventually, within a few hours, a staff member was photographed collecting them.

News outlets began reporting about Monbebe efforts to bring Wonho back, thus bringing more attention to our goal.

Celebrities reached out and showed their support of Monsta X.

Monbebes began writing everyone to spread awareness - spanning as far as contacting Moon Jae-in, South Korea’s president.

Naver (shockingly) released a positive article - something that’s very rare.

Efforts are still being made to spread more awareness through physical ads in South Korea.

K-MBB’s held a silent protest outside of Starship Ent.

International fans flew to South Korea to participate.

Staff said they can and will welcome Wonho back.

Staff also helped Monbebes greatly:

Met with MBB’s on the day of the silent protest to help them cut out banners.

These plaques read, “I do not want to remain just a memory,” which are lyrics from If Only.

Supported MBB’s in the fan cafe - even went as far as changing their icons, I believe, to photos of Wonho.

Continued collecting MBB sticky notes and even provided tissues at the protests for those who were crying.

Continue encouraging us to continue with our efforts.

Other fandoms have showed their support for Monsta X and MBB.

International MBB are still organizing a silent protest from what I’ve seen circulating the web.

For Minhyuk’s birthday, MBB adopted four whales as gifts. One is a southern humpback named Monbebe, another a blue whale adopted in Minhyuk’s name. I’ve heard another one was named Monsta X, but don’t quote me on it because I’m not 100% sure.

Minhyuk’s birthday tag also reached #1 worldwide trend.

A set of stars were also purchased and named Lee Hoseok and Monsta X.

NY-MBB got a dance group to dance to Follow.

UK-MBB are hosting fundraisers in efforts to raise money for a central London billboard.

As I stated prior, all sorts of ad efforts were, and still are being, made.

Over 30 tags have consecutively trended worldwide for one week - many of them reaching -#1 trend several times.

K-MBB’s used the original fan chant during one of the performances for Follow’s promotions. If you don’t know what I’m referring to, it means that they used the OT7 chant including Wonho’s name.

300 fans were allowed into the Inkigayo recording - 100 over its normal capacity.

Tower Records, international music franchise store, showed their support in their Japan branch’s sector through MX signs and posters.

For those that may not understand, the white ink is circling Wonho’s signature and name on the wristband. Some people claimed it doesn’t matter because those bands are pre-made, but to that I’d like to point out that those bands are made out of paper and his name is printed/signed on the end, so it would have been very easy for staff to cut off the end part if they really wanted to, or were instructed to do so.

SS is involved in their own, personal, controversy. I’ve made past posts regarding the situation, but for the sake of not stirring the pot, so-to-speak, I’m going to exclude them from this particular post. Until further information about their situation is released, or I feel it’s becoming a detriment to MX, I will bite my tongue.

In regards to 🐻’s controversy, SS confirmed the photos were manipulated (fake).

🐻’s searches have been cleared, at least from my knowledge. I’ve been told that they have been, but I’m not entirely sure if they’ve come back or anything.

I know a lot of people messaged me that particular night in regards to a YouTube video talking about 🐻’s situation and everyone was concerned it would spark up the searches again. I didn’t want to say anything until I saw the video taken down, but I messaged KJ and explained the situation to him. He had no ill intent with his video - in fact, he was trying to help clear the negative rumors revolving around MX. He was just simply unaware that, unfortunately, any publicity regarding 🐻’s situation would trigger the searches again, so I explained this to him and told him about MBB efforts. He completely understood and removed the video.

Part Six (1,467 words) Bastien was lying awake on Kara’s couch, thinking about the Tumblr fics that gave so much depth to his character. The writers who advocated for him. He was so happy in those Tumblr fics. Yes, Kara was partially right. There were fandom writers who created angst in his personal life, but they still loved him as a character. @mrsnazario1223 created a series Secrets in the Dark where he struggles to free MC Elizabeth, his Bets, from the clutches of an evil Liam. In Sometimes Beginnings Start with Goodbyes, @innerpostmentality almost decimated him when Drake was hospitalized, and he felt so guilty that he missed the warning signs: How depressed Drake was after MC Giselle and Liam’s wedding. How he had been drinking more than usual. Fortunately, Duchess Olivia Nevrakis was able to comfort him. They had feelings for each other for so long, and it just happened so naturally. And @emceesynonymroll did focus on how much Queen Riley loves her King, but he is content with his secret crush on her. Besides, if enough people gently persuade and her muse agrees, there will be a follow-up series that will focus on him finding true love at last. Yes, sometimes he experienced pain in the fan fics, but there was so much happiness. And he was so happy with his face claim, Fabricio Zunino. @cora-nova is the brilliant artist who first discovered Fabricio, and fanfic writers have been swooning over Zunino’s Instagram account ever since.

@endlessflame was the first person to write about him. His first love, Juliette, who left him because she couldn’t handle the danger of his career. And now, she writes about the sexual tension between him and Riley, and their secret rendezvous. The light between his legs began to spark. And then when he and Riley got engaged—such happiness in his life.

@riseandshinelittleblossom and her fics with him and Foxy. He adores Foxy so much, and @riseandshinelittleblossom was the one who made it canon that he made grilled cheese sandwiches with mayo on the inside so the cheese was creamier. And that he loves dancing the foxtrot to Frank Sinatra’s “The Way You Look Tonight.” And when Foxy dressed up for Halloween in that skimpy black outfit with the backseam stockings and garter belt? Fuck. He was amazed they even made it downstairs to their own party. @tornbetween2loves also understands that backseam stockings are his kryptonite. His Scarlet Duchess frequently takes advantage of that weakness, but he never minds. @boneandfur was the first to create a NWFW ABC list for him. It features the noblewoman he vowed to keep safe after an assassination attempt. @boneandfur’s writing is so sensual with its description, and these words never fail to make his member twitch: “I love that fucking dress, my lady. I can tell you’re not wearing any underwear. I can smell your arousal. I’m going to walk you around that corner, and then I’m going to slide my hands up your thighs and spread you apart. I’ll get on my knees and I’ll bury my face between your legs and you’re going to ride my face and scream so loud the king will give me a medal for a job well done.” Mmmm. @jovialyouthmusic. She made it canon that he was so well-endowed that the madam at a high-end brothel begged him to visit every year—for free. And his Sophia. Such a strong, beautiful woman who loves him. Who cums for him multiple times, who makes him cum harder than he ever did before. But it was more than the sex and their relationship continued to grow, and she was the one who stood by his side after his injury. Yes, she is His Goddess and His Temptress. And soon, his wife. @jovialyouthmusic’s Protect and Serve series gave him life. @lolablackwrites is such a talented writer—especially smut—and he loves being the focus of her Guarded Hearts series. How brilliant that he and MC Alice met before that fateful night at the restaurant when she met Liam. She still came to Cordonia, not realizing he was there. But he is so glad she did because Alice has a sarcastic sense of humor. She’s intelligent. Sexy. He loves their playful banter and how she understands his literary references when he sends her text messages. Their relationship has already overcome so many challenges, but he asked Alice to move in with him, and he knows she’s the one he will marry. @likethetailofacomet has two series that he especially enjoys. The series Learning to Love Again focuses on Drake and MC Claire, but he is featured several times throughout. However, he frequently thought about his long-lost love Annabelle in that series. What he lost because of his duty to the Crown. Fortunately @likethetailofacoment wanted to explore that a bit further. That’s what prompted her to start a second series, called The Broken Bits, that explores their relationship 21 years ago and hints that perhaps their love will have a second chance. And @sirbeepsalot. She gave him a passionate, yet tender relationship with Olivia, his mon doudou. He was always an important part of Liam, Drake, and Olivia’s family. Bastien smiled as he thought of their children—Jackson, Stella, and Estel. He is their Papa Bas. He also started as Olivia’s lover, but their relationship developed into something more. Now they are their own family, and his mon doudou recently gave birth to his daughter Odette. Yes, he is a very happy man. Then there were the other fics that made him a father. @blackwidow2721 focuses on his daughter in the series Playing with Fire. Cami is beautiful and headstrong, and he is so lucky he can trust Drake to be a gentleman with her and also scare off Liam, Leo, and Maxwell. He can trust Drake, right?

@bobasheebaby did cause him pain in some of her series, but overall her muse treated him well. In Crimson Rain he is a mob boss who adopted Olivia when she was a child. Then he discovered he has another daughter, Hope, and they are developing a strong relationship. But Liza. Poppy. His true love. After the heartache of several miscarriages, he was going to be a father again. Her name is Sage Lana, and the entire family—including their adorable dog Buttons (Butt) and cat Pickles—are over the moon. Then there’s @stopforamoment’s slow burn with Rinda. In the series he and Rinda are still dating and they’ve created a loving family with her son, now his son too, Henry. But @stopforamoment is already starting to write drabbles where they’re married (she knows how they get there, but there are other projects keeping her busy—sorry). Rinda is in her 40s and they both agree they are happy with Henry and don’t need to expand their family, so he will get a vasectomy. But @stopforamoment ‘s muse already created a crazy-train drabble to explain how they could get pregnant even though he had a vasectomy. He, Rinda, and Henry are also going to be in a Choices Crossover collaboration that features characters from The Royal Romance, The Crown and the Flame, Blood Bound, Perfect Match, The Haunting of Braidwood Manor, Veil of Secrets, and The Freshman series. Ferals and matches will overrun Cordonia, and the characters must work together to save Cordonia. @kennaxval thought of the idea, and he’s working with @begging-for-kamilah, @sawyeroakleyscowboyhat , @scalpeljockeybrycelahela, @strangerofbraidwood, @stopforamoment, and @tornbetween2loves to bring this story to life. @innerpostmentality and @tornbetween2loves collaborate to create an AU titled Arcana Unbound that focuses on the next generation of Cordonia: the children of King Liam Rys and his Queen Hyclea, Drake and Meridoc Walker, Leo and Katie Rys, Duchesses Riley Brooks and Hana Lee, and yes. His children too. He, Bastien Lykel—the head of the Royal Guard, married Duchess Olivia Nevrakis and became a duke. His daughter Sarissa wants to follow in his footsteps, joining the Royal Guard and protecting her King. However, life may have other plans for her. His son Xiphos inherited his dark looks and Olivia’s emerald green eyes. Xiphos is known as a playboy, but he will find someone who sees him for who he truly is. And Bastien knows his popularity was growing. He welcomed a new writer to the Bastien fandom: @applevictorianico Her series Bruises is only a prologue and two chapters in, but already other writers in the fandom are swooning over her description of him as a father who was reunited with his daughter on her 21st birthday. There is so much mystery about his past, and his daughter’s past, that will be a wild ride for the fandom. His daughter Roxy has her own impressive military career in the United States Army and shares his sense of loyalty. And grey eyes. It’s so much to keep track of, but fortunately @mfackenthal of The McFackenthal Show is the president of his fan club. He will always be taken care of in the Tumblr fandom.

Bastien sighed. It was going to be difficult ending things with Kara, but their love now had the bitter taste of the first crop of Cordonian Ruby apples. “Who wants to start?” Your headmaster’s voice sounds stern, but you can see the exhaustion in is face as an agitated hand brushes through his grey hair.

“Maybe the one, who actually started it?”, your opponent replies, and you give him the evil eye.

“Maybe the one, provoking the other to start?”

Taeyong huffs and shakes his head, leaning back in his seat.

“Provocation only works when one is not focused enough.” You face your classmate with sheer disbelieve in your eyes.

“Not focused enough? I was killing it.” He leans further back in his chair, seemingly unfastened by your outburst.

“And then you tried killing me.” Taeyong’s answer is accompanied by him casually crossing his arms over his chest.

A quick laugh escapes you. “Oh, nobody has ever died from chalk in th-”

“ENOUGH” Now you just hear exhaustion in Mr. Kim’s voice as he stands up to walk around his oak desk and leans against it, eliminating the barrier between the three of you. He grabs the piece of paper, which your math teacher wrote, from his desk to read out loud:

“Y/N and Taeyong displayed poor social behaviour in class today. Y/N tried to finish a difficult equation on the board. As she faltered, Taeyong made a snarky comment. Y/N then threw the chalk stick directly at her classmate, hitting him just below the eye. Please, Mr. Kim, chose a punishment suited for both of them.”

Mr. Kim stops the report and looks at you two, letting an uncomfortable silence hang in the air.

“Anything to add, Ms. Y/L/N, Mr. Lee?”

You are not the biggest fan of Mrs. Oh, your math teacher, but her recount is actually spot on.

“No, Sir.”, Taeyong says, agreeing with you.

“Let’s be clear here”, your headmaster begins and breathes deeply to calm himself enough to lecture two sixteen-year olds, that clearly should know better. Especially because even if Taeyong and you both had to share your braincells, you’d still be thrice as smart as Mr. Kim.

“Your impressive accomplishments do not give you permission to act like… like…” The old man is awkwardly waving between you two. “…this.”

This is a steady competition and it makes you go slightly insane. You joined this school last October, only giving you a year to complete high school at the top of your class. Not only did you have to integrate into a whole new social peer group – it did not go well – no, you had to leave your old friends and your safe first place 234 miles away.

So not only were you extremely pissed at your parents for shifting branches in their firm, you were also extremely determined to make it to the top of this class, walking away from this hell with a fuck-you-all smile, the best internship and a guaranteed scholarship. The only problem with your master plan, there already was a person at first place.

Lee Taeyong. Class president. Leading Quarterback. Math genius. Hottest male in a 40-mile radius. Seriously, how god could be this generous, you’d never understand. When his personality clearly doesn’t deserve it. Taeyong is always helpful, never signalling the student body that their opinions weren’t relevant. He always has a smile on his face, always bending down to get on eye level with others. And you hate that. You hate that fake smile, the fake empathy and most of all you hate the fact that you would have done exactly the same thing, when you’d been there first.

But nobody wants an Angelina Jolie, when one can have a Jennifer Aniston. So, you tried to establish your own role in this school. You became the president of the debate team, excelled at every single language course – easy considering you are fluent in four languages – and took your running abilities to good use by leading and organizing a track club for visually impaired students.

After a few months you climbed up the ranking, landing at the top at the end of the second trimester. Only problem? Taeyong didn’t leave. So now, at the start of the final trimester the first spot is occupied by two persons, making it the first time in the history of this school that that happened. Leaving you both extremely agitated with a high tension hanging around you.

“It won’t happen again.”, you try to reassure the headmaster and hear a throaty chuckle from next to you.

“Why? Are you gonna try to actually comprehend math?”

“You.. You orgueilleux âne!”, you exclaim while switching to French, so neither Mr. Kim nor Taeyong can follow you.

“DETENTION! BOTH OF YOU!” Okay, Mr. Kim has lost his cool. His face is bright read as he looks between you two.

“You’ll clean the kitchen after school, until it is as clean as your records.”

There could have been worse punishments. Although spending extra time with Taeyong isn’t the best way to end a school day, nobody said anything about interacting with one another.

You both stand up and reluctantly, after bowing to your headmaster, leave the office together.

“I cannot believe you ruined my afternoon.”, Taeyong mutters next to you, loud enough for your ears to hear.

“Hey, dimwit, this isn’t exactly what I’d call an afternoon well spend as well.”, you answer while bumping your shoulder against his frame in defence.

“But it sure is better than tainting my record.”, you add.

His amused chuckle travels directly to your stomach – making you feel more excited than annoyed.

“You’re right.”

Wait, did Taeyong just agree with you? You stand still and look at the back of the handsome top student you want under you so bad, your mind is going mad.

“W-what th- the hell?”, you whisper in disbelieve. Never in the history of mankind has Taeyong ever agreed with anything you said. Not even when you were in the same debate team.

But Taeyong doesn’t look back, he just walks directly into your classroom without noticing your absence. Or maybe he just doesn’t care. As long as he and his ego are present, he’s okay with leaving others behind.

You decide that the last ten minutes of math class are not worth participating and you make your way to the kitchen. Do you like your punishment? No. But you sure as hell will bear it with dignity.

“So we’ll just have to wash the floor, polish the countertop, stock the vegetables arriving at 4 pm and clean the soda machine?”, you repeat while starring at the lunch lady with interest. She must have been briefed by Mr. Kim because she wasn’t surprised when you visited her and asked about the procedure.

“Yes, honey. That would be all. After that you just have to lock everything up and leave the key with Mr. Kim.”, she agrees, looking at you fondly.

You are always nice to the staff at this school, which can’t be said about all the students, making you one of the favourites of the janitor, lunch and cleaning personal.

You nod in understanding and hear the school bell ringing – signalling the five-minute break before your last class.

“I’ve got to leave, but thanks for the instructions!”, you say in a haste and are just in the motion of turning around, when she says: “I sure hope this helps the both of you.”

You freeze. “What?”

The old lady has a dreamy smile on her face.

“I can’t say I was surprised, after hearing that it was you and Mr. Lee who were causing trouble.”

You still don’t understand her, raising one eyebrow in confusion.

“All this longing isn’t healthy for teenagers.”, she explains and winks at you.

“Lon-long-ging?”, you stutter, earning a silent laugh form the lunch lady.

“You can’t fool me, honey. All the stolen glances in the lunch line? The constant nagging? Your flushed cheeks whenever this boy speaks?”

You cough on your own spit. You and Taeyong longing for each other? Was this woman for real? Your cheeks flush in anger every time this … this oaf voices his opinion.

And the few times your gazes meet during lunch? Keep an eye on your enemy, that’s all. Of course, Taeyong is attractive, but can this make you forget his ugly competitive persona? No way.

“Yo-ou are … mistaken.” The disagreement tints your voice making it unbelievably hard.

But before you can start defending yourself the second bell rings, making you officially late for the track session.

“Damn”, you mutter and bow deeply, before running towards the changing room and leaving all your unhealthy thoughts of Taeyong with the lunch lady.

“I cannot see you scrubbing the kitchen with Mr. Too-Perfect. I really can’t.”, Yukhei breaths heavy, while taking to you.

You both are running as a tandem around the football field – having a clear view on the football team practice.

“Yuk- you can’t see in general.”, you snort and up the tempo, animating your blind friend to keep up with you.

“Oh Y/N, with your thorough description”, he teases, “I have a clear visual of the school president.”

One time. It was one damn time, after a track race, that you lost disgracefully. You drank too many cheap beers and started describing Taeyong’s body to your new blind friend. One monologue Yukhei hasn’t let you forget.

“Just … because he’s handsome, does-n’t m…ean he can’t clean.”, you answer, but you are too strained to make your voice sound as snippy as you want to. If Yuk can still make fun of you, you are going too slow. So again, you make your feet move faster, earning a groan from your track partner and a dull pain from your muscles.

You sweat terribly but running makes you feel deliciously alive. And you crave that. So you don’t care.

And you sure as hell don’t care that a certain quarterback hasn’t let you out of his eyes.

Your hair is still wet from the shower you took as your tired legs drag you into the now empty kitchen. The key rests on the counter and you see that the lunch lady has already moved all the cleaning supplies into plain view for you to use.

You feel bone tired but that doesn’t matter to Mr. Kim. With a defeated sigh you move towards the mop, recognizing the bright yellow floor cleaner from home. Before you can start to mix the water with the chemical, you hear Taeyong enter the kitchen.

“Where do you want me?”, he greets and sounds as tired as you feel. You don’t know if he is trying to be indecent. But one glance at his tired features make you think he’s genuinely waiting for supervision. So you decide to play nice.

“You can start with the counters. There should be some rags at the sink.”, you explain and start cleaning the floor with tardy motions.

There is a comfortable silence for the next minutes, both of you exhausted from the physical activities of your last classes.

Taeyong breaks this silence first.

“You ready for your track meet this weekend?”

The question sounds so earnest, you nearly loose the grip on the mop.

“W-hat?”

His eyes rest on your face. Taeyong showered as well, leaving his hair wetly pinned on his forehead. His cloths cling to his damp body, the outline of his abs clearly visible. You swallow uncomfortably.

“The track meet? This weekend?”, he tries again, slowing his words down.

“Sure”, you answer with flushed cheeks.

“How about … your game?”, you reply with the semi-final this Sunday in mind.

His answering smirk is so gorgeous you have to focus your eyes back on the wet floor.

“When have we ever lost?”

His cockiness is so unattractive you snort loudly.

“27th of May this year.” Your mop moves lazily around the floor. “– devastatingly”

“I wasn’t even there for that game, Y/N.”, Taeyong defends himself and you can formally taste his hurt pride in the words. It makes you giddy.

“Doesn’t matter captain – your team”, you point at him with the mop in hand, “your loss.”

Taeyong throws the rag in the sink with an angry huff.

“What about the 14th of April? Hmm Y/N?”, he responds and moves closer to you, taking the mop out of your grip.

14th of April. Not a good day. A terrible loss against your rivals. Leading to the infamous beer-fuelled adoration of Taeyong in front of your teammates. Not a good day at all.

“I never claimed my team was perfect.”, you spit and take an uncharacteristic step towards Taeyong, invading his personal space.

He inspects you with a flaming gaze.

“Why can’t we have one normal conversation?”, he sighs.

“Without verbally degrading the other?”, you add and notice his smell. The scent of citrus overshadows his normal wood-ish smell. And you hate that you notice this just as much as you hate how fast your heart is racing.

“Yeah”

“Impossible”

“Why?”

Because you have something that I want. And hating you is the only option to overthrow you.

“Because”, you answer, swallowing your inner thoughts.

Taeyong laughs softly.

“That is a weak argument coming from the debate champion.

The tension is thick in the air as the two of you glare at each other. An uncomfortable vibration surrounds you, making it impossible to organize your thoughts. Then there is sudden movement – Taeyong throws the mop on the floor, takes the last step towards you before attacking your lips.

“Wha-…”, A surprised moan escapes your lips as your arms circle around his thick neck searching for support against his attack.

His lips move deliciously aggressive against your own, parting them impatiently so his tongue can dominate your mouth.

“Mhm” The groan that leaves his lungs vibrates through is body and travels across your bodies. There is no space left so tight you are pressing against him. Your fingers find their way into his still damp hair, clawing at his scalp in desperation, needing to be closer. Taeyong’s mouth is hot and wet and delicious and you involuntarily start to suck on his tongue which earns yourself a throaty growl from your partner.

His hands move agitated around your hips, gaining momentum to lift you up on the counter without breaking the kiss. You try to breathe through your nose as the steel surface surprises your overheated body.

Taeyong’s lips leave your mouth dragging a thread of spit with them. If one of your braincells would be working right now, you’re sure you’d be disgusted. But in this moment, all you can feel is deep want as you moan through your bruised lips. His mouth doesn’t leave your body for long, dragging wetness slowly down your neck.

“Oh- shit.”

He lightly bites the sensitive spot where your neck meets your shoulder and you whimper, earing yourself a throaty chuckle from your partner. In reflex, you buckle your heat against the hardness of his middle. The chuckle is silenced as you feel his restrained dick against your core.

“Damn, woman.”, Taeyong mutters and claims your mouth again with new found urgency. You feel like flames are licking at every covered skin of your body and you start to move against him to relieve some of the tension. Your hands leave his fisted hair to trail against his back, scratching against his t-shirt, wanting nothing more than to claw it into pieces.

His hands rest steely against your mid, aiding the movement of your hips. Your heart beats merciless, while your brain has officially resigned. Daring fingers slip under his shirt to feel Taeyong’s tensed abs.

“Uh-m”

It feels like ice cold water is injected into your veins as an unknown sound pierces through your tense moment. With inhumane speed the both of you still, before entangling your heated limps from the tight embrace.

Red is colouring your cheeks as your eyes move to the intruder.

The older man looks as if you were practicing dark magic in front of him, his incredulous eyes wider than you have ever seen them. Thousand thoughts rush around your brain which decided to start functioning again.

You kissed. You kissed him. And by the way of Mr. Kim’s heated face, you also kissed your credibility goodbye.

“The vegetable supplier is waiting for you.”, your headmaster says with bewilderment in his voice, not commenting on the scene he walked in on moments ago.

You didn’t know your blush could get any worse, but here you are, more the colour of the tomato that you were sent to stock than the taint of an actual human.

“You a-re as dump as yo-you are hot.”, you whimper as Taeyong’s tongue moves in wet circles around your shoulder blade. His hot breath fans around your exposed skin and you shiver, goosebumps cover your skin.

“Hear me out, Y/N.”, your nemesis begs.

“Eat me out, ass.”, you moan against the wall in front of you feeling Taeyong’s smile behind you. He has caged you against the wall of your chemistry lab. The class ended ten minutes ago, making you late again to your track session. A pattern your blind best friend is used to by now.

“I’m always so blown away by your debating skills.”, Taeyong scolds while cupping one of your breasts in a demeaning manner.

“Yo-…you’re blown away by my blowing skills a-ass-… well.”, you respond in a snippy tone, which dies in your throat due to your partner pressing you flushed against the cold wall. His hand on your breast soften the blow, but the cold of the stone is such a stark contrast to the hot breath on your neck that you shiver in content.

“Come on, why can’t we help each other out?”, he starts again. “We both want the scholarship, we both want the first place, we both want to fuck.”

His list is so true, you want to tattoo it on your skin. Hormones are the worst. And something you hadn’t prepared for. But could have anything prepared you for the force of Taeyong?

“How?”, you ask in defeat moving your head to the side to give him more access to your neck.

The victory is colouring Taeyong’s voice as he explains: “We’re both first place now.” A kiss is placed on your ear. “We’ll keep it that way.” Another one lands on your scalp. “They’ll have no choice but to gift us both with scholarships.”

Why does this plan sound so easy? A dark suspicion clouds your head and you turn around facing him for the first time during your conversation. Taeyong’s eyes betray his arousal; they are as black as your shirt.

Your gaze lingers on his flushed cheeks, moves to his prominent Adam’s apple, before resting on the faint hickey you left on his neck last weekend after his phenomenal semi-final. It was the first time since transferring to this school that you attended his game. And seeing him sweat, hustle and win made you regret every unattended game.

You try to focus again, abandoning all thoughts of heated making outs in the changing room, sloppy hand jobs in his car and the one eating out session after your aced oral presentation in French class.

Taeyong’s plan has to have a catch. Perfect things always have.

“Why should I trust you?”, you ask, already your mind is running a dozen of scenarios where this boy scores one single point more than you, making you the laughing stock of the whole student body.

“When have I ever lied to you?”

He has a point. Even though the school president sometimes placates others with half-truths, he has never been more than unflatteringly honest with you.

“I want a fucking contract.”, you say stubbornly, refusing to let his words get to you. Taeyong laughs loudly into your stony face.

“You really would be the kind of senior student to sue fucking classmate for deceiving you.”

“You bet your ass.”, you admit and cup his semi-hard cock over his jeans in a threatening grip. That shuts him up instantly.

“Girl, as long as you own my dick, I’ll sign your contract in blood.”, he moans, and you smile in victory.

The members of Kage and Kunoichi have been kind of friends in varying capacities since before they even debuted so they’d always greet and bow to each other during shows and events. Nothing really special there. Unless we reach. Which, as you know, is exactly what this blog is for.

Since Anon specifically mentioned members (plural), I will only address moments where multiple members do the teasing.

(2007) Kiba and Naruto are rowdy hype men while the three members are more reserved, except when Sai does weird dances at select performances. Which is why when Kunoichi did their first performance ever at the KChart Music Awards, we can see Sasuke in this fancam (link) looking like he’s reprimanding Kiba, Naruto, and Sai because it distracts him from watching the girls (or just one girl?) perform.

(2010) This Kunoichi fancam from Konoha Music Awards in November (link) shows the girls standing while Rock Lee performs on stage. On Sakura’s side, you can see members of a boy group who keep moving and shuffling around. Another fancam (link) revealed that it was actually Kage members trying to switch places with each other.

So the member order was as follows: Tenten, Hinata, Ino, Sakura, Kiba, Sai, Sasuke, Naruto, Neji. When Kiba realized who he was next to, he walked away and tried to get in between Sasuke and Naruto. The two finally budged after a while, but Kiba was still unsatisfied because Sai was still between Sasuke and Sakura. So he went back and whispered something to Sai who promptly moved away and followed Kiba to stand between Naruto and Sasuke. Sasuke is now beside Sakura. Mission accomplished, guys.

(2011) In this Kunoichi fancam reaction to Kage’s stage on the KChart Music Awards (link), everyone was standing up. Unfortunately, the members were situated at the back, and Sakura, wearing combat boots, was at a height disadvantage. But the members came to her rescue when it was Sasuke’s turn in the spotlight. Ino who was the tallest member of the night thanks to her sky-high platforms, and Tenten the actual tallest member were whispering to Sakura, and looked like they were reporting and giving her a blow-by-blow account of what was happening on stage.

(2013) In this fancam of Kage’s reaction (link) to Sakura accepting the Best Female Solo for Courage at the Golden Leaf Awards, we see Naruto and Kiba who are smirking as they turn to a decidedly blank-faced Sasuke. Neji turns to their direction too, looking mildly exasperated.

SS movie date in Wave Country (2012)

I just needed to update this post in light of new information.

In the Kage Konoha Mountain Villa interview 2012 (the one I linked in the previous post), Sasuke was recorded saying: “I like classic action movies. The most recent one I saw was In a Grove (藪の中 Yabu no Naka).”

Two months prior, Sakura uploaded a video of the instrumental ‘Prologue’ originally from the soundtrack of a film Rokurota. Both In a Grove and Rokurota are films by the director Makino Chikao which led people to speculate if the connection ends there or if there’s more. So I did a little investigating.

Sakura posted the video on the evening of 31 January 2012. During that time, Sakura was in Wave Country where she was a guest performer for Kage’s show in Sector D District. I searched the cinemas around that area and found one that at the time was having a director Makino Chikao retrospective. (You can check out their site here: link) I wasn’t able to see the list of films exhibited to confirm but I have no doubts that both In a Grove and Rokurota were screened there, especially since both films are critically-acclaimed and universally loved. And it’s likely that Sakura and Sasuke went to these screenings together.

Furthermore, you know what’s in front of Kaiza Theatre? An Owson grocery mart, aka the same one where those pictures of Sasuke and Sakura were taken the same year (link). See the side by side comparison (link) and note the same shelves and wall paint. And of course, those photos led to Danzo’s damage control denial of the dating rumors, and then Sasuke’s infamous “[KGE] is just a workplace” statement. Y’all know the rest.

Let me preface this with a little background on Uzumaki Naruto. Naruto and Sasuke are the closest to each other in Kage not only because they are the two youngest members of the group, but also because they started training in KGE in the same year. The other trainee who started the same year they did was none other than Haruno Sakura. The three of them were said to be friendly even after they debuted in their respective groups. And it’s because of this that I believe they are privy to each other’s lives and relationships, and would, like any regular friends, every now and then tease the crap out of each other.

(2007) [VIDEO STAR] - Naruto talks about Kage members + colors 20070728

Naruto’s first solo guesting in Video Star variety talk show. There was a part where he was asked to describe the members of Kage via color association. (@ 2:11)

Izumu K: So black for Sai-kun, red for Kiba-kun, white for Neji-kun—

Pink is too obviously referring to Sakura/her signature hair color which is especially obvious since Kunoichi just debuted around the time of this interview, so Naruto changed it to green to prevent Sasuke’s wrath. But you know what else is green? Sakura’s eye color. Thanks, Naruto! Your subtlety is unparalleled.

(2007) KAGE reaction to KUNOICHI performance - MINDBLOWER + BLOOM @ Konoha Music Awards

Sasuke is a famously stoic cold city guy at award shows, especially when sat beside Naruto who dances exuberantly to every other performance. That is, until Kunoichi debuted. Sasuke would begin showing signs of life whenever Kunoichi performed, like foot tapping, some head bobbing here and there, and some stray finger flicking actions during the Mindblower chorus.

Anyway, in this particular performance, Naruto elbow nudges Sasuke on his side (pretty hardly, if Sasuke’s annoyed expression is anything to go by) just as Sakura’s verse is about to come on. (@ 1:32)

(2008) [FULL/ENG SUB] [HD] 080805 Idols Weekly EP 56 - KAGE Part 1

KAGE’s appearance in Idols Weekly where Naruto said he would join Kunoichi because his group kept betraying him, and then he said he would drag Sasuke along with him. He didn’t get to elaborate on why exactly because he was cut off by Sasuke’s glare.

Okay, this is kind of a reach but they were all just previously nailing the Bloom choreography, and then Naruto was dragging Sasuke specifically to join Kunoichi. Why just Sasuke? All of Kage are on friendly terms with Kunoichi members. That’s why I’m inclined to believe Naruto was teasing him because Sasuke has eyes on someone in Kunoichi. And we all know who.

(2009) [Music Bank K-Chart] 2nd Week of January - SN, Sound5

Sakura had the opportunity to host Music Bank for January. At the time, Sasuke and Naruto were promoting their subunit single “The Valley.” On the one episode that month where they performed, during the K-Chart announcement part, you can see Naruto subtly (not really) pushing Sasuke to his right. When the camera switches to wide shot, it appears that Sakura was on standby from hosting duties a few feet away over at Sasuke’s right side the whole time. (@9:42)

(2010) Sasuke was in Snow Country on a personal schedule and posted a rare picture of himself. Well, kind of. It was him looking like a hypebeast cryptid wearing multiple layers of winter clothes and scarves, against the backdrop of flower trees in Land of Spring (Snow Country’s capital). Captioned: ”wish you were here.” (My god he is so basic sometimes, I can’t.)

Anyway, on the said post, Naruto left a comment of around 15 cherry blossom emojis.

Cherry blossom = Sakura. King of subtlety…

Sasuke deletes this post five minutes later (which would have been suspect if he wasn’t such a serial post deleter). But luckily, we still have a screenshot which includes Naruto’s comment.

(Also note that a month prior to the announcement of their engagement, Sasuke and Sakura were reported to have had a rendezvous in Snow country. That place must be significant to them and Naruto being in their inner circle probably knows why this early on.)

(2010) [20102310] Naruto’s KLIVE Chat

Naruto was promoting his solo mini album and did a KLive broadcast where he called some Kage members. During his phone call with Sasuke, out of nowhere, Naruto mentioned Sakura. (@ 40:07)

N: Anyway, Sasuke, aren’t you preparing for your final show this week?

S: Mm.

N: All Kage members are supporting you. Not me, though. But the rest of them do, apparently.

S: Make yourself useful and promote my show.

N: I’ll do you one better. I’ll call Kunoichi and ask them to come to your concert.

S: What?

N: Yeah, I’ll personally pick Sakura-chan up and make sure she’s there.

S: [unintelligible]

N: Sasuke, what?

S: I said you’re an idiot.

(2011) Sakura was reported to have fainted from exhaustion after the last set at Kunoichi’s concert late October 2011. (This was the third time it had happened [that we know of!!!] and it honestly says a lot about what little regard KGE had for their artists.)

Meanwhile, Kage was doing their second to the last fanmeet scheduled in Earth Country. But on that night, Sasuke and Naruto took a red-eye from Iwa to Konoha. There are no pictures, only some K-netizens reports of Sasuke and Naruto entering Konoha General at around 8 am. (Some eyewitness accounts said that Sasuke appeared to be bringing a pillow.) At 10 am the same day, Naruto was spotted in his orange BMW convertible hanging around the KGE building, while Sasuke was nowhere in sight.

It can be surmised that Naruto, being a good friend, accompanied Sasuke so he can visit Sakura. But there’s more.

Konoha General to KGE building is a one-hour drive, but seeing how Naruto got his car and a new set of clothes, he most likely headed to his apartment first, which would add more or less 30 minutes to his journey. If he arrived at 8 am in Konoha General, but was already in KGE building by 10, that would mean he only stayed in the hospital for about 15 to 30 minutes at most.

I imagine what happened was: Naruto accompanied Sasuke from Iwa to Konoha, probably said hi to Sakura for a bit (if she was already conscious by then), and then promptly left them alone to have their moment. :’)

(2011) 30 October. Sasuke’s K-D Magazine photoshoot previews were released. Sakura liked one of the posts from the K-D account. Later, she posted a cute video selfie with heart eyes filter with ねぇ聞こえますか？(Can You Hear Me?) an old love song, playing in the background. Her timeline was probably filled with Sasuke’s pictures that she just had to post some kind of lovey-dovey reaction to it. A few hours later, Naruto commented with a (very knowing) smirking face emoji.

(2013) 8 August. Naruto posted a picture of two mochi (pink and blue) from Amaguriama, with the caption, “Look how sweet my friends are.” He tagged Sasuke in the blue one. Who else could the pink one be?

That’s all I know for now. Naruto hasn’t updated his account with anything SS-related since the engagement was announced, which is really odd for him. (Maybe he’s still busy partying because his OTP is canon?) When he posts something, I’ll update this accordingly.

They didn’t outright say that it was Sasuke whom Sakura and Ino were crushing on, but it’s kind of general knowledge that Sasuke was quite popular with the KGE trainees not only because he was the younger brother of Akatsuki’s Uchiha Itachi but because he is good-looking and talented, so it’s not a stretch to assume Ino was talking about Sasuke and was teasing Sakura about it.

Izumu: Any music you’re currently listening to?

By the way, I love how Sasuke is known to be very private with his personal life and relationships but would, intentionally or not, obliquely reveal details like how they’ve been dating for 5 years already.

Anyway. Well, I can’t really say anything with certainty but if I were to extrapolate and make an *educated guess*, I’d say they probably started dating officially mid to late 2009. As far as I can recall, that’s also when dating gossips about them started popping up. Also the fact that they started wearing matching white gold bands late ‘09-early ‘10 (I’ll make a separate post about this later) just solidified to me that they really did start dating in 2009.

Prior to my projected time, their collaborations have been frequent, starting with Sakura helping to write a song for Kage, and then both of them being featured on each other’s solo projects. And even before that, it’s kind of general knowledge that they’ve been fairly close as trainees (not to mention, Sakura has allegedly been crushing on him before), so they already had that foundation. There’s that mutual respect for each other and each other’s talents that, over the course of their collaborations, probably grew into something more.

(2009-2010) White gold band

Sasuke is not that big on accessories. If we do see him fully accessorized, it’s because he is styled for promotional materials, and stage or music video looks. Otherwise, he doesn’t wear much accessories other than a standard watch, etc. That’s why it was so glaringly obvious when he started wearing a white gold band on his left pinky finger (note: pinky = pink = Sakura, lol!) in December 2009, which led fans to speculate if he is in a relationship. Everyone was suddenly on the lookout for a similar ring worn by idols and celebrities. Especially Sakura whom Sasuke was rumored to be dating that year.

Sakura accessorizes quite a bit but has never been seen wearing the said band. That is, until she had a fan meet in March of 2010. Sakura fansite First Love took HQ pictures of her in the event. In one of them, she leaned over while signing an autograph for a fan and consequently revealed the necklace she’s wearing inside her blouse, and behold, the white gold band hanging on it. It took quite a lot zooming in and adjusting the photograph which is why the legitimacy was contentious among fans, but you can see it for yourself here.

(2011) Chair

Sakura posts a picture of her succulents by the window of her house, the chair from Sasuke’s Heavenly Hand music video is seen in the corner. It’s a one-of-a-kind modern chair by Konoha master carpenter Kanna, so it couldn’t have been a duplicate.

(2012-2013) Ceramic vase

Sasuke posted a picture of a Hanasaki-style ceramic vase by Masho’s protégé ceramist, Kanyu, which was exhibited and auctioned at Leaf Gallery, and captioned it (now deleted) “Mine.”

(2013) Chambray shirt

Sakura was photographed at Konoha airport wearing a chambray shirt, which is similar to a shirt that Sasuke was wearing in the behind-the-scenes photo of his album back in 2009. The shirts have an identical tear at the left collar.

According to fashion fansite SakuraCloset, this shirt is from Sannin Men’s chambray shirt. This is how it originally looked on the runway. No tear.

So it’s either a huge coincidence that Sasuke and Sakura have identical tears on the same brand of shirt, or it’s just the same shirt that they share for some reason*.

Sasuke “ I-take-relationships-very-seriously” Uchiha marrying someone for shits? They can’t even make him forego his IG feed aesthetic to promote his group/members’ stuff, let alone force him to marry someone out of pity or publicity or whatever.

And Sakura. Why would she marry for publicity? She’s already famous and influential on her own, and not to mention, rich from all the songwriting royalties among other things. She doesn’t need clout. Least of all from Sasuke or the Uchiha. Like 90% of the hate directed towards her come from ugly Sasuke/Hoekage stans and weirdos who have conglomerate boners. She need not subject herself to all that.

They are also, by the way, at the height of their respective careers. If they cared all that much about their image, wouldn’t they wait until they’re in their early 30s to marry like most idols? They could potentially be throwing away endorsement deals from brands who prefer celebrities who are single to appease the fans who feel like they have some sort of ownership towards idols.

And yet! And yet despite everything, they chose to make their relationship public in their own terms.

(Also, note the timing of their announcement. It’s a few months after Hatake Kakashi became the new CEO. It’s like the management up until then has been the main reason that has kept them from coming out with their relationship, which is why the ‘secrecy’ of it felt kinda half-hearted and they’ve been [knowingly or not] dropping hints.)

Clearly, they just didn’t care and they couldn’t wait to spend the rest of their lives married to each other. It’s not that deep. You don’t have to like it. But if you love them as you claim, then respect their decision and stop spreading rumors like that.

Yesterday, the two were reportedly spotted at the Konoha offices to file for their marriage registration. On July 17, the two officially got married in a private ceremony.

The couple initially announced their engagement last March, with the wedding that was supposed to be held November 5 later this year.

Representatives say that the newlywed couple “opted for a small and private wedding along with their loved ones, in favor of donating the expenses that was supposed to be for their ceremony to the pediatric ward of Konoha General Hospital.”

Uchiha Sasuke is best known as a member and the primary lyricist of boy group Kage under KG Entertainment. Haruno Sakura is known as a member of girl group Kunoichi under the same company. Both have gone on to have successful solo careers.

[INTERVIEW] 181009 iKON for VLIVE x OSEN

iKON wishes to come to Vietnam to eat Pho

[OSEN = Reporter Lee So Dam] iKON participated in "YG University MT." On October 1, during the Star Road episode with the concept of an exchange for students on Naver V Live's OSEN channel, iKON met the audiences around the world. In the relaxed atmosphere at the studio, the members confided their feelings and showed their witty eloquence and entertaining skills.

Debuting in 2015, the "rookie monster" iKON has now become the "king of digital music" with three consecutive hits in 2018 from "Love Scenario" earlier this year to "Goodbye Road" recently. Despite becoming an iKON that is always expected everytime they introduce a new work, they are still adorable and modest 20-year-old boys who always look forward to receiving love from fans. In August, iKON held their own concert in Korea and had a chance to closely interact with iKONIC (fan club's name). Currently, the group has an opportunity to meet with international fans through their overseas tour. iKON also shared their hearts about the third anniversary of their debut in September as well as the feelings about their concert in Korea in late August and what happened when conducting their overseas tour, etc. Here is the conversation with iKON.

Q. After two and a half years, the group has another concert in Korea. Although you usually have many concerts in Japan or abroad, Korean fans may have been waiting for a long time. Please talk about your feelings. B.I: Since it has been two and a half years, we are even happier and more grateful to the fans who have come to the concert. Thanks to the fact that we can talk to fans in Korean with ease, we were really comfortable. Korea is indeed "a country of singing along," we had a touching performance. Yunhyeong: Just like B.I, I also feel that being able to talk with the fans is the most comfortable. Our first concert was held at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena. It's been a long time since we were here so the old feelings seem to be like new.

Donghyuk: Honestly, I have not performed for a long time before Korean fans so it was very stressful. It was a stage that made me worried and wondered how to express myself to make the audience see my better image. Junhoe: I also feel very good. This was the stage that we performed in front of Korean fans after a long time so I was both nervous and delighted. Jinhwan: The president watched that concert, so I tried my best. I performed at 100% strength but I remember at that time, I worked so hard that it seemed like 120%.

Bobby: It's been a long time since iKON held a concert in Korea. I did not even remember how I spoke Korean on the stage. (Laughs) Although I felt awkward speaking Korean, many fans were there to cheer enthusiastically for us. It was a concert that I felt really "miraculous" for speaking everything in Korean. Chanwoo: We really prepared a lot and the fans seemed to enjoy it so I was much more enjoyable.

Q. The performance in Seoul started the group's world tour. Vietnamese fans are also looking forward to meeting iKON. Do you have any plan to come to Vietnam, and if so what do you want to do? B.I: At first, if we have a chance, we want to go there again. Vietnam has many delicious dishes. We would like to try those dishes and visit the tourist destinations.

Bobby: I really want to eat Pho.

Jinhwan: (absolutely agrees)

Q. Filming concept today is the "MT." Do you like your assigned role?

Jinhwan: I am a returning student, but in fact, it seems like Yun Hyeong...(would be more appropriate) Yunhyeong: If it was me, I could immerse myself in it and make it more interesting.

B.I: I took on the role of the student council president but I feel it is not fit me well. I should be the vice president of entertainment and Dong Hyuk should be the president. Q. Drinking is a must in an exchange. Does the drinking capacity vary from each member? Do the non-drinkers want to get better? B.I: It's not "non-drinkers" but the only one who cannot drink is me. In the past, I tried to drink alcohol. But then I suddenly wondered if I have to drink well or not and if it is necessary to drink alcohol in the meetings. The world is full of other joys and there are different ways to enjoy your own life. So recently, I have been considering alcohol as my "enemy."

Q. When you are on tour, you will have to leave the dorm for a long time. Do you have any "inseparable things" to carry with you or put beside your bed? Please each person names three items. Bobby: I must have a passport, a wallet, and a mobile phone. B.I: I will bring the same things as Bobby. Bobby: Actually, when I go abroad, I don't need anything except my underwear and socks. Chanwoo: For me, they are my mobile phone, backup charger, and earphone.

Junhoe: Personally, something that I always keep it with me without pulling out is my heart to return to the Korean fans. B.I: Oh, so determined ~ Talking about this, the members are all the same. Donghyuk: I'm the type of person who always tries to carry three things, which are a laptop, a bluetooth speaker, and a backup charger. Jinhwan: When going overseas, nearly everyone stays still in the hotel room, right? In order to adapt to a strange place, I definitely have to bring the facial masks and cosmetics I like. Yunhyeong: Special things for me are probably facial masks, lip balms, and a bluetooth headset.

Q. September 15 will be the 3rd anniversary of your debut. Does iKON have any plans on that day? (This interview was conducted before iKON's 3rd debut anniversary) B.I: I have a schedule on that day. My schedule is full until the end of October so I cannot plan anything special. Donghyuk: Because this is a very meaningful occasion to us, We're thinking of doing a broadcast on V App to thank the fans. Jinhwan: Maybe I will upload a series of photos and statuses on the SNS. 915 posts once for example! Bobby: Wait, you talk now? Jinhwan: Oh, I won't post them anymore... The Ultimate List of LGBT Kpop Songs/MVs

This has come about because whenever I come across queer kpop lists I am disappointed by how short and repetitive they are. My goal is to have THE MOST comphensive list of songs and music videos with any sort of lgbt themes.

Each song or mv listed will have a little (or not so little) description explaining how gay it is or why it is gay. This does mean I’ve let some more questionable songs and mvs on the list but from the description I shouldn’t be leading people astray or getting their hopes up. (I decided against including covers of songs eg. where the artist hasn’t changed the gender in the songs. bc I feel that would become too messy and complicated. Also there are artists and songs I dislike on this list, and some artists can be considered problematic however I felt that if I excluded anything based on personal opinions it would make the purpose of this list invalid).

Hopefully kpop fans can diversify their playlists and discover new bops, as well as giving comfort to lgbt+ kpop fans. I plan to update this list as new gay content is released :)

4L – Move in the aftermath of a massive breakup, the female character ends up having a lesbian one night stand which further confuses her while she deals with her heartbreak. This mv is more in the fanservice and objectifying females/lesbians category.

Loona – Chuu: Heart Attack, Yves: New light lesbian themes, up for interpretation

10cm – Help The male characters struggle with their relationship as they worry how society view them

DIA – Seoraksan In October light lesbian themes, up for interpretation

VIXX LR – Whisper light gay themes and touching, symbolic based and possibly just fanservice. Some consider their other hit ‘Beautiful Liar’ as gay, however, despite the homoeroticism in that mv, the plot is about struggling with your two inner selves rather than a male & male relationship.

Day6 – What Can I Do in a very messy love triangle (or octogon, who knows??) Wonpil has a one sided love for Sungjin, the plot is somewhat continued in their mvs ‘I Loved You’ and ‘When You Love Someone’.

Sweet Revenge – Cry to Your Heart's Content lesbians, lesbians, lesbians

INFINITE – The Eye some scenes of this could fall into the category of fanservice and skinship, even though it is very emotionally charged

Gugudan – Chococo Sejeong experiences a gay and chocolatey epiphany (a minor scene)

San.E – Story of someone I know Depicts an ex-girlfriend dumping him for a girl

Brown Eyed Girls – Abracadabra Queens of sexual freedom, there is an almost kiss at the end.

Girl's Day – Female President an almost kiss scene, in a feminist bop (a song made not too long after s.korea elected their very first female president, Park Geun Hye. Note: this was made well before she was exposed for being the worst™ and consequently impeached, which is a shame for the first and so far only female leader in s.korea to leave such a ignominious history.)

BTS – Blood Sweat and Tears, I need you, Run In Blood Sweat and Tears Jin kisses the male demon statue that seems to represent Taehyung. The other 2 mvs have light gay themes with skinship type moments

Imfact – Lollipop kissing on the cheeks and other skinship for fanservice

Wonder Girls – Why So Lonely a sort of but not really kiss scene

Crispi Crunch - Thumbs up a very questionable mv but does include a trans woman, or crossdresser, near the end. Also the teasers for this mv included the two dudes kissing, nowhere to be found in the actual mv though (or on the internet now.... ???)

Lim Chang Jung – Open the Door Includes a gay kiss

Glam – Party XXO a bi anthem, lyrics specify about not caring about gender when searching for love

N.O.M – A Guys, Nature of Man the group were less of a kpop group and more of a gay club act who then released 2 singles

Orange Caramel – Catallena more so in the lyrics than mv but not completely ignored in the mv, Catallena explores how women are supposed to compete with each other in society and how that becomes confusing when females look up and idolise other females, and even further complicates when you fall for a female. Additionally, the meaning can also be about how girl groups are pitted against each other but they also admire and love each other

Nell – The Day Before Deals with homosexuality and suicide

Harisu – History (with Turbo), Liar, Shopping Girl, Reaction, Foxy Lady, etc. A transgender model and actress who also had a pop career for a period of time

Mercury – Don’t Stop, Let’s Party a girl group which has one member, Hanbit, who is trans

SNSD – Dancing Queen, Divine (Story Version), All Night, Love & Girls, etc. Dancing queen has lowkey gay lyrics. Divine is one big lesbian drama. In All Night Sooyoung and Yuri have major gay vibes towards each other. Both All Night and Love & Girls include drag queens. GG’s discography is so large so there’s plenty more lowkey gay songs.

Lee Hyori – Miss Korea, Going Crazy Miss Korea critics beauty standards for women in korea, and includes drag queens. In Going Crazy Hyori crossdresses as a man and then sleazily flirts with tons of women

Mamamoo – Um Oh Ah Yeh plays with crossdressing and gender identity, and kinda gay. And they have a song called “Girl Crush” which is supposedly platonic by Korean pov but worth a mention

Monsta X – All In Hyungwon and Minhyuk are shown to be together, this is possibly why Hyungwon’s dad beats him

2YOON – Why Not these lyrics can be interpreted as gay

EXO – Playboy, They Never Know The lyrics of Playboy make more sense when you interpret as a secret gay relationship. The live performances of this is the opposite of heterosexuality. (note: Jonghyun wrote Playboy). In They Never Know the lyrics have moments like “Love is Blind” and discussion an unconventional love, it is widely accepted to have a strong gay theme. Also special mention to their 2017 winter album “Universe” for being completely 100% gender neutral

Oh My Girl – Knock Knock Girls singing about girls

Black Nut – Beenzino Black Nut takes his fanboying for Beenzino to the next level

Jonghyun – 02:34, Monodrama, Cocktail, most of these songs have light gay themes, and make more sense when interpreted as gay. You delve even deeper into his discography and interpret them in a gay light.

Gain & Minseo - Imi Oneun Sori (The Footsteps of My Dear Love) From the OST of the Korean film The Handmaiden, which itself has lesbian themes.

NCT’s Ten - Dream in a Dream This is a bit of a reach but the inclusion of Lucas in some of the scenes of this MV is an interesting choice. Also I would like to give a shout out to NCT U (Ten & Taeyong) - Baby Don’t Stop, for being a lowkey gay tune even if nothing about it can be pointed out as explicitly gay. He has released a song called New Heroes, which lyrically talks about standing up for what you believe in and working hard to get successful whilst facing adversary, which is a great message, but with Ten’s almost meme-like status of being a “confident gay” (despite not actually being out) this song has definitely made a lot of people claim it as gay anthem, make of it as you will (I feel conflicted about this; 1. he’s not standing up for the gays as a gay person if he isn’t out and people shouldn’t pressure him to do so, especially when he is a foreigner in s.korea; 2. it’s all well and good to quietly within the fanbase to joke about confident/panicked gays, or gay icons, but it can go too far, especially when it becomes their branding and only personality trait to both fans and the broader (western) kpop fanbase. these issues also apply to many like Sunmi and Taemin.)

Twice - What is Love? The girls take turns in depicting and parodying famous cinematic couples, so fanservice based crossdressing and gayness.

WOMEN’S CLUB ELECTION

September 30, 1949

"Women’s Club Election” (aka “Liz Is Elected Women’s Club Treasurer”) is episode #56 of the radio series MY FAVORITE HUSBAND broadcast on September 30, 1949.

This was the fifth episode of the second season of MY FAVORITE HUSBAND. There were 43 new episodes, with the season ending on June 25, 1950.

The script was later adapted for television as “The Club Election” (ILL S2;E19) first aired on February 16, 1953.

Synopsis ~ George has cause for alarm when Liz is elected treasurer of the local women's club because he knows how much trouble she has with figures but Liz has a surprise for him.

“My Favorite Husband” was based on the novels Mr. and Mrs. Cugat, the Record of a Happy Marriage (1940) and Outside Eden (1945) by Isabel Scott Rorick, which had previously been adapted into the film Are Husbands Necessary? (1942). “My Favorite Husband” was first broadcast as a one-time special on July 5, 1948. Lucille Ball and Lee Bowman played the characters of Liz and George Cugat, and a positive response to this broadcast convinced CBS to launch “My Favorite Husband” as a series. Bowman was not available Richard Denning was cast as George. On January 7, 1949, confusion with bandleader Xavier Cugat prompted a name change to Cooper. On this same episode Jell-O became its sponsor. A total of 124 episodes of the program aired from July 23, 1948 through March 31, 1951. After about ten episodes had been written, writers Fox and Davenport departed and three new writers took over – Bob Carroll, Jr., Madelyn Pugh, and head writer/producer Jess Oppenheimer. In March 1949 Gale Gordon took over the existing role of George's boss, Rudolph Atterbury, and Bea Benaderet was added as his wife, Iris. CBS brought “My Favorite Husband” to television in 1953, starring Joan Caulfield and Barry Nelson as Liz and George Coope. The television version ran two-and-a-half seasons, from September 1953 through December 1955, running concurrently with “I Love Lucy.” It was produced live at CBS Television City for most of its run, until switching to film for a truncated third season filmed (ironically) at Desilu and recasting Liz Cooper with Vanessa Brown.

MAIN CAST

Lucille Ball (Liz Cooper) was born on August 6, 1911 in Jamestown, New York. She began her screen career in 1933 and was known in Hollywood as ‘Queen of the B’s’ due to her many appearances in ‘B’ movies. With Richard Denning, she starred in a radio program titled “My Favorite Husband” which eventually led to the creation of “I Love Lucy,” a television situation comedy in which she co-starred with her real-life husband, Latin bandleader Desi Arnaz. The program was phenomenally successful, allowing the couple to purchase what was once RKO Studios, re-naming it Desilu. When the show ended in 1960 (in an hour-long format known as “The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour”) so did Lucy and Desi’s marriage. In 1962, hoping to keep Desilu financially solvent, Lucy returned to the sitcom format with “The Lucy Show,” which lasted six seasons. She followed that with a similar sitcom “Here’s Lucy” co-starring with her real-life children, Lucie and Desi Jr., as well as Gale Gordon, who had joined the cast of “The Lucy Show” during season two. Before her death in 1989, Lucy made one more attempt at a sitcom with “Life With Lucy,” also with Gordon.

Richard Denning (George Cooper) was born Louis Albert Heindrich Denninger Jr., in Poughkeepsie, New York. When he was 18 months old, his family moved to Los Angeles. Plans called for him to take over his father's garment manufacturing business, but he developed an interest in acting. Denning enlisted in the US Navy during World War II. He is best known for his roles in various science fiction and horror films of the 1950s. Although he teamed with Lucille Ball on radio in “My Favorite Husband,” the two never acted together on screen. While “I Love Lucy” was on the air, he was seen on another CBS TV series, “Mr. & Mrs. North.” From 1968 to 1980 he played the Governor on “Hawaii 5-0″, his final role. He died in 1998 at age 84.

Bea Benadaret (Iris Atterbury) was considered the front-runner to be cast as Ethel Mertz but when “I Love Lucy” was ready to start production she was already playing a similar role on TV’s “The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show” so Vivian Vance was cast instead. On “I Love Lucy” she was cast as Lucy Ricarodo’s spinster neighbor, Miss Lewis, in “Lucy Plays Cupid” (ILL S1;E15) in early 1952. Later, she was a success in her own show, “Petticoat Junction” as Shady Rest Hotel proprietress Kate Bradley. She starred in the series until her death in 1968.

Ruth Perrott (Katie, the Maid) was also later seen on “I Love Lucy.” She first played Mrs. Pomerantz, a member of the surprise investigating committee for the Society Matrons League in “Pioneer Women” (ILL S1;E25), as one of the member of the Wednesday Afternoon Fine Arts League in “Lucy and Ethel Buy the Same Dress” (ILL S3;E3), and also played a nurse when “Lucy Goes to the Hospital” (ILL S2;E16). She died in 1996 at the age of 96.

Bob LeMond (Announcer) also served as the announcer for the pilot episode of “I Love Lucy”. When the long-lost pilot was finally discovered in 1990, a few moments of the opening narration were damaged and lost, so LeMond – fifty years later – recreated the narration for the CBS special and subsequent DVD release.

Gale Gordon (Rudolph Atterbury) does not appear in this episode.

GUEST CAST

Hans Conried (Mr. Benjamin Wood) first co-starred with Lucille Ball in The Big Street (1942). He then appeared on “I Love Lucy” as used furniture man Dan Jenkins in “Redecorating” (ILL S2;E8) and later that same season as Percy Livermore in “Lucy Hires an English Tutor” (ILL S2;E13) – both in 1952. The following year he began an association with Disney by voicing Captain Hook in Peter Pan. On “The Lucy Show” he played Professor Gitterman in “Lucy’s Barbershop Quartet” (TLS S1;E19) and in “Lucy Plays Cleopatra” (TLS S2;E1). He was probably best known as Uncle Tonoose on “Make Room for Daddy” starring Danny Thomas, which was filmed on the Desilu lot. He joined Thomas on a season 6 episode of “Here’s Lucy” in 1973. He died in 1982 at age 64.

Conried played Mr. Wood on several episodes. Wood is a neighbor of the Coopers with eleven children!

Frank Nelson (Derelict) was born on May 6, 1911 (three months before Lucille Ball) in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He started working as a radio announcer at the age of 15. He later appeared on such popular radio shows as “The Great Gildersleeve,” “Burns and Allen,” and “Fibber McGee & Molly”. Aside from Lucille Ball, Nelson is perhaps most associated with Jack Benny and was a fifteen-year regular on his radio and television programs. His trademark was playing clerks and other working stiffs, suddenly turning to Benny with a drawn out “Yeeeeeeeeees?” Nelson appeared in 11 episodes of “I Love Lucy”, including three as quiz master Freddy Fillmore, and two as Ralph Ramsey, plus appearance on “The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour” - making him the only actor to play two different recurring roles on “I Love Lucy.” Nelson returned to the role of the frazzled Train Conductor for an episode of “The Lucy Show” in 1963. This marks his final appearance on a Lucille Ball sitcom.

Elvia Allman (Marge Van Tassel) was born on September 19, 1904 in Enochville, North Carolina. She started her performing career on radio in the 1920s, as both a storyteller and singer. This led to work voicing cartoon characters for Warner Brothers. Simultaneously, she was pursuing stage acting, appearing at the Pasadena Playhouse. Allman made her film debut as an actress in 1940’s The Road to Singapore as a homely woman who pursues Bob Hope. Allman played the strident forewoman of Kramer’s Kandy Kitchen in “Job Switching” (ILL S2;E1). She would return to the show as one of Minnie Finch’s neighbors in “Fan Magazine” (ILL S3;E17) and as reporter Nancy Graham in “The Homecoming” (ILL S5;E6). She made two appearances each on The Lucy–Desi Comedy Hour“ and ”The Lucy Show.“

On “I Love Lucy,” Lucy Ricardo frequently was heard talking to a club woman named Marge on the telephone, but her last name was never mentioned. When we finally get to meet Marge she is played by Charlotte Lawrence.

Naomi Brubaker and other Women’s Club Members are played by uncredited performers.

EPISODE

The episode opens late evening at the Cooper’s where Liz is typing and George is reading a book. Liz complains about Mr. Woods’ kids ringing the doorbell - but it is just the bell on the typewriter. Liz is typing her acceptance speech for tomorrow’s women’s club election. She reads the speech aloud for George:

LIZ: “Ladies of the Sheridan Falls Women’s Club: First, I want to thank everyone who voted for me. You will not be disappointed. I’ll do my best to be a good _______ this year.”

On "I Love Lucy” the Sheridan Falls Women’s Club was known as The Wednesday Afternoon Fine Arts League.

Liz will fill in the blanks once she is elected. She is sure to be elected to some office, as everyone in the club is an officer - all 25! The only office Liz is not expected to be elected to is Treasurer, which always goes to Naomi Brubaker, whose husband is a CPA.

Next day at the Club meeting, Iris (as President) makes announcements and reads the election results. As Iris owns the clubhouse furniture, she is naturally re-elected President. Vice President goes to Phyllis Brown, though Liz assumes it will be her. Secretary goes to Marge Van Tassell (Elvia Allman), although Liz expects it to be her. Instead, Liz has been elected 25th Honorary Exalted Alternate. The bad news is that although Naomi is re-elected treasurer, she must resign as her husband the CPA has been transferred to California. Because Liz’s husband George is a banker, Liz’s nomination and election is rushed through, much to her dismay.

IRIS: “Liz, you’ve been elected! This is a democracy! It’s the will of the people!” LIZ: “It is not! I’m a people and I didn’t even get a chance to peep!”

Liz’s rush to read her acceptance speech before her name is even announced is very similar to Lucy Ricardo’s rising to acknowledge her nomination before her name is read aloud in “The Club Election”. Liz and Lucy’s hopes are dashed each time Madam President announces a new result.

George is concerned about Liz’s election to treasurer because of her inability to do her household accounts. He lays down the law: if her household accounts don’t balance, then she must resign! Liz confides in Katie the Maid that the Club’s books are a real disaster.

On “I Love Lucy,” Lucy Ricardo’s household accounts became so messy that Ricky hired “The Business Manager” (ILL S4;E1) to try to make sense of them. Charles Lane played Mr. Hickox.

Liz asks neighbor Mr. Wood (Hans Conried) for help with the club’s books. She has plans to build a new clubhouse, but she doesn’t know the difference between income and expenses and can’t add 9 and 9. Mr. Wood says the club only has forty cents in their ledger!

LIZ: “What kind of a clubhouse can you buy for forty cents!?” MR. WOOD: “Maybe you should settle on a club sandwich.”

After a commercial by announcer Bob LeMond for Jello Vanilla Tapioca Pudding, the story resumes. It is the first of the month and George wants to see Liz’s household books, but she is forty dollars short, so she tricks him into thinking he is late for work by setting the clocks forward. Liz gets an idea to transfer the money from the club to the household accounts and back again!

At the meeting, Liz reports a surplus of $100. Marge wants to contribute the money to the Sheridan Falls Boys Club. The donation is voted through although Liz knows this will spoil her scheme to juggle the books.

Back at home, she confesses to Katie that she didn’t give the Boy’s Club the full amount. To clear her guilty conscience she decides to give the rest of the money to the first needy charity she sees. She opens the front door and coincidentally a derelict (Frank Nelson) is passing by. She give him the forty dollars.

When George comes home to see her books, Liz faces the music, fearing the worst. Just then the doorbell rings. It is the Derelict who hands her $740. He took her $40 and bet it on a horse at Belmont who came in 16 to 1! Liz gladly returns to face George!

At one time, early in her career, Lucille Ball went by the name Diane Belmont, naming herself after the New York Racetrack!

In a live Jello commercial, Lucy plays a tourist in sunny France and Bob LeMond a Frenchman flirting with her. He says he reminds her of Jello Tapioca Pudding!

LUCY: “Well, tap my ‘oka’ - these Frenchmen really know how to make love!”

In the usual bedtime tag, Liz wakes George from a sound sleep to report she’s had a dream of being in the desert. He is sure she wants him to get her a glass of water. Instead, he brings a whole pitcher and dumps it on her! End of episode.

Bob LeMond reads a pitch for men to join the military, highlighting educational opportunities. He reminds listeners that Lucille Ball can be seen in the film Miss Grant Takes Richmond. The film had premiered just ten days before this broadcast.

Music Landmark Tours: Recording Studios, Estates, and Museums

Graceland

Graceland is the well-known home of Elvis Presley located in Memphis, Tennessee. I always knew some very basic facts about his home, but never really went into any detail. Many documentaries refer to it, but very few give off a true sense of what the home is like. Today, Graceland is owned by Lisa Marie Presley. She received everything related to her father’s estate upon his death. The home was not open to the public until 1982, as it took that long to get everything in order following his death. Graceland is the second most visited home in the United States besides the White House, but that might change very soon based on the president’s performance this year. The name Graceland originates from the original owners that built the house, Stanley Toff. The entire estate was named after his daughter, Grace. The mansion was actually built in 1939 by a niece of Toff. Elvis entered the picture in 1957 when he gave his parents a budget of $100,000 to find him a suitable home. One of the conditions was that it had to be somewhat secluded and private due to the fact that fans were beginning to become a problem. The home was 10,000 ft.² making it unbelievably massive. Rooms besides standard ones in every house included a TV room, a music room, and a strange jungle room highlighted by very bizarre furniture. There was even a racquetball court that Elvis had built because he became obsessed with the sport in the 1970’s. Other interesting things about the house include his father Vernon‘s office because he served as his business manager for almost his entire career. Most of the Presley family are buried there including his mother, father, himself, and even a stillborn twin brother. Upon his mothers death, his stepmother lived at Graceland for a time causing a very awkward and tense relationship. Yet, you probably could not blame Elvis too much because his father did remarry two years after his mother’s death. The other notable part of his estate was the wall he had built along the street. Like other famous states, people have signed the wall creating a living history monument.

Sun Studio

This was the recording studio started by Sam Phillips in January 1950 in Memphis, Tennessee. It’s major claim to fame was the first record company to release music from Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash among others. The original name of it was the Memphis Recording Service, but Phillips changed the name to Sun in 1951 when he decided to run his own label. A major portion of Sun’s early artists were well-known blues artists like Howlin’ Wolf, BB King, Junior Parker, and others. Later, other artists like Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Roy Orbison would record there. Phillips moved to a larger facility in 1959, then eventually sold the entire label in 1969. In 2005, the original Sun Studio was re-opened as a tourist attraction and working recording studio. This has attracted prominent musicians like U2 to do a little recording there. The first major recording of any note from Sun was “Rocket 88” by Jackie Brenston in March 1951. The backing band on this record was none other than Ike Turner’s band, who would later become more infamous for his marriage to Tina Turner. Many people consider this to be the first rock ‘n’ roll song ever. In the beginning, Sun had tremendous financial pressure because they could not release a hit. Finally, “Bearcat” was released in 1953, which emerged as the first successful single. Yet, the success was short-lived, because a copyright lawsuit threatened the company due to the song sounding just like “Hound Dog.” Phillips would record anyone that wanted to make a record there throughout its existence. Any person could come off the street and actually make a record for three or four dollars. In 1953, he was able to talk a local jail into releasing members of a group to record a song, which led to a story in the newspaper. Some say this is one of the reasons that brought Elvis Presley to Sun. Presley was only 18 years old when he first entered the studio. He would go on to record several songs for Phillips. These were all fairly insignificant until late one night they discovered the sound everyone had been looking for. With the release of “That’s All Right,”rock ‘n’ roll would never ever be the same. Phillips would later sell Presley‘s recording contract for $35,000, which eventually led him to sign with RCA. The producer always defended the move saying he had too many outstanding debts at the time, while promoting Presley would have been impossible due to the small size of his company. He was still able to promote other notable acts like Cash, Perkins, and Orbison. Yet, by the mid-1960s, Phillips had lost all interest in the recording business. He had branched out into radio, which was where his interest really lied. If you visit the actual studio in Memphis, there really is not that much there. This reminds me of when I visited the Johnny Cash Museum in Nashville or the Fairmount Historical Society in Indiana for James Dean. The studio has a small café, small museum, and the recording studio. The recording studio is essentially a couple of rooms to show what it was like back in the 1950s. You could see some of the original recording equipment that was used for the records. This includes the Record a Phone, which allowed for mobile recording. One will find that essentially Sun Studio was a tiny store front operation that got really lucky because nobody else really wanted to record the music they were releasing.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is located in Cleveland, Ohio right on the lakefront. This museum’s foundation was established in 1983 by Ahmet Ertegun, owner of Atlantic Records. The actual building was dedicated in 1995. The museum includes all members inducted into the Hall of Fame, as well as seeking to document the entire history of rock ‘n’ roll. The layout of the museum contains seven levels as different wings of the museum concentrate on different genres including blues, gospel, soul, hip-hop, folk, bluegrass, country. Other exhibits feature cities that have figured prominently in the history of rock ‘n’ roll including Los Angeles, New York, Detroit, Chicago, and more. Finally, they have long-standing permanent exhibits for major artists that are at the top of the list of influence in rock ‘n’ roll history including the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Madonna, Michael Jackson, and so on. The museum has not been without its fair share of criticism over the years. The major one going on at the moment is the fact that too many members that vote artists into the hall of fame are not musicians. This includes people like Jann Wenner, former editor of Rolling Stone. These members set up rules that make it too easy for some artists to receive induction into the hall of fame, while not ensuring that female or black artists are represented fairly. Many musicians that have been inducted to the hall of fame skip the ceremony primarily because they think it is a joke. Another criticism over the years has been the location of the museum. Many leaders in rock and roll did not feel that Cleveland was In anyway whatsoever to be lauded as the birthplace of rock ‘n’ roll. This also includes what some feel is the fairy tale that Alan freed was the first DJ of rock ‘n’ roll. Many people believe that it should not be located in Cleveland because of his connection to the payola scandal of the late 1950’s. I have been here twice through the course of my life. The sense that I received each time was that the entire museum is overwhelming. You almost need more than one day to take it all in because of the amount of artifacts that are within the museum. Some of the highlights that I remember when telling people about my visits there are John Lennon‘s Rolls Royce hanging from the ceiling, Roger Waters signing a replica of the wall hanging from the ceiling, personal lyrics by Jackson Browne, and a documentary by Jonathan Demme. This has always been shown since the beginning of the Hall of Fame in its theater. One of the reasons because of the fact that it was probably Jonathan Demme‘s last film. This is a short 25 minute documentary interviewing various artists about the museum. The one thing I remember is Pete Townsend gets rather agitated during one of the segments. He yells back at the camera about referring to these people as icons because he points out they were not only icons, but his friends of his. I guess that is something that that may get lost in translation that some of these rock ‘n’ roll stars are friends with each other.

Electric Lady Studios

This recording studio based in New York City has a long history to it. I did not realize that he actually started a studio named after the song Electric Ladyland. The Greenwich Village location had been a night club since the 1930’s in it’s basement called the Village Barn. Until 1967, abstract expressionist painter Hans Hoffman also called this home, where he would conduct lectures on art. In 1968, Hendrix purchased the night club upstairs called The Generation. This had been a popular venue at the time for late night jam sessions including himself and a treasure trove of other artists in New York. Such artists as Big Brother and the Holding Company, Sly and the Family Stone, BB King, Chuck Berry, and more.One of the reasons he became convinced to convert the space from a live venue to recording studio was the fact that the Electric Ladyland sessions had been so expensive. This was also a chance for him to create a recording space that he was happy with. Hendrix had been notoriously picky about recording studios throughout the course of his career. This became the only artist owned recording studio in the world at the time. The construction of it cost twice as much as budgeted and took twice as long as initially scheduled. He needed to get a loan from Warner Bros. Records in order to complete the project. The studio was set up in such a way that the feel was very relaxing filled with lots of ambient light. From Hendrix’s perspective, this would help with creativity. The entire studio was painted in psychedelic colors, which still exists to this day. I do not know what else to tell you except that it was the 1960’s. He would only record there for about 10 weeks as construction was being completed. His final recording was done there, “Slow Blues.” The next day he boarded a flight to England to perform at the Isle of Wight Festival. Sadly, Hendrix would die before ever returning to the studio. Many notable artists have recorded there over the years including Julian Casablancas, Kanye West, Daft Punk, Arctic Monkeys, AC/DC, Eric Clapton, Beastie Boys, BB King,The Cars, David Bowie, and many more. If you do a search on Spotify, artists will occasionally do short unplugged sessions at the studio. The Strokes would record the album Angles at Electric Lady in 2011. Paisley Park

Paisley Park is home to Prince’s estate just outside of Minneapolis. He built it in 1987 as the headquarters of his now defunct record label, Paisley Park Records. The place is absolutely enormous coming in at about 65,000 ft.². The estate includes his living quarters, recording studio, and two live venue spaces that were used for rehearsals. He had planned to turn the entire complex into something just like Graceland upon his death. Coincidentally, the same company that manages Graceland takes care of Paisley Park now. In 2016, tours began of the estate that also included a private museum filled with personal artifacts from his career. For example, there are 6000 wardrobe outfits located there. Other artifacts include musical instruments, awards, artwork, memorabilia, and cars. The funny thing about the entire estate is that unlike Graceland, most people see Paisley Park as very lonely. This is because throughout his entire career Prince kept everyone at a distance including his estate. Nobody really knows for certain when he began living there full-time because it was never intended to be a home. This was always meant to be a commercial recording environment. This is why from the outside one gets a sense of how strange it is to make this the symbol of Prince. From the outside, Paisley Park looks very much like a large office complex you would find in any large city. Other highlights include a basketball court, which was made famous by Dave Chapelle. There is a ping-pong table that he would challenge celebrity guests like Michael Jackson to a game. You can see his kitchen and his office, which for the most part has remained unchanged since he was found dead in that elevator in 2016. As for the experience if you do go there, things will probably seem a bit strange. You will find that the rules for tours are very strict, filled with formality, and almost unforgivable. You cannot show up for a tour too early or too late. This seems very symbolic of the public’s interaction with Prince throughout the course of his career. The cost of the tour is a bit pricey as well, and some have questioned whether it is really worth the price of admission. The contrast between Prince and Elvis is quite stark. People weep at Graceland for the simple reason that they feel as if they knew the man personally. With Prince, they are not sure how much they knew the man personally, but they feel deeply emotional about his music. Without the recording studio, purple everywhere, or the rehearsal spaces, I am not sure how many people would actually care how the man lived since he never let people see that side of him. For example, you can look at his microwave in his kitchen, but I have a difficult time seeing Prince dressed in a purple robe cooking a Hot Pocket.

Donald Trump hates to be backed into a corner, but rather than surrender, he tends to double down. He's doing just that now as he tried to pivot the talk of supporting white nationalists to holding on to America's heritage after protesting the removal of Confederate statues around the country. With prominent Republicans openly questioning his competence and moral leadership, President Donald Trump burrowed deeper into the racially charged debate over Confederate memorials and lashed out at members of his own party in the latest controversy to engulf his presidency. Out of sight, but still online, Trump tweeted his defense of monuments to Confederate icons - bemoaning rising efforts to remove them as an attack on America's "history and culture." And he berated his critics who, with increasingly sharper language, have denounced his initially slow and then ultimately combative comments on the racial violence at a white supremacist rally last weekend in Charlottesville, Virginia. Trump was much quicker Thursday to condemn violence in Barcelona, where more than a dozen people were killed when a van veered onto a sidewalk and sped down a busy pedestrian zone in what authorities called a terror attack. He then added to his expression of support a tweet reviving a debunked legend about a U.S. general subduing Muslim rebels a century ago in the Philippines by shooting them with bullets dipped in pig blood. "Study what General Pershing of the United States did to terrorists when caught. There was no more Radical Islamic Terror for 35 years!" Trump wrote. Trump's unpredictable, defiant and, critics claim, racially provocative behavior has clearly begun to wear on his Republican allies. Tennessee Sen. Bob Corker, whom Trump considered for a Cabinet post, declared Thursday that "the president has not yet been able to demonstrate the stability nor some of the competence that he needs to" in dealing with crises. And Sen. Dan Sullivan of Alaska tweeted, "Anything less than complete & unambiguous condemnation of white supremacists, neo-Nazis and the KKK by the @POTUS is unacceptable. Period." Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina said Trump's "moral authority is compromised." Trump, who is known to try to change the focus of news coverage with an attention-grabbing declaration, sought to shift Thursday from the white supremacists to the future of statues. "You can't change history, but you can learn from it," he tweeted. "Robert E. Lee. Stonewall Jackson - who's next, Washington, Jefferson? So foolish. ... "Also the beauty that is being taken out of our cities, towns, and parks will be greatly missed and never able to be comparably replaced!" "Sad to see the history and culture of our great country being ripped apart with the removal of our beautiful statues and monuments," he tweeted. Trump met separately Thursday at his golf club in nearby Bedminster with the administrator of the Small Business Administration and Florida Gov. Rick Scott, a longtime Trump supporter. Trump also prepared for an unusual meeting Friday at the Camp David presidential retreat in Maryland with his national security team to discuss strategy for South Asia, including India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Vice President Mike Pence was cutting short a long-planned Latin America tour to attend the meeting. Though out of public view, Trump sought to make his voice heard on Twitter as he found himself increasingly under siege and alone while fanning the controversy over race and politics toward a full-fledged national conflagration. He dissolved two business councils Wednesday after the CEO members began quitting, damaging his central campaign promise to be a business-savvy chief executive in the Oval Office. And the White House said Thursday that it was abandoning plans to form an infrastructure advisory council.
