Meet with the Saints for Corporate Worship in Spirit and on the Ground of Oneness
As believers in Christ, we must meet with the Lord’s children for corporate worship at the place that the Lord has chosen – in our spirit and on the unique ground of oneness, bringing Christ as the offerings and having much rejoicing in the Lord, for here we are one with God and with one another. Amen! When we come together with the saints, each one of us can and should bring something of Christ;…

The concept here is to send in a question or a letter request, and you’ll get a response from your fictional character of choice, from the list below. Please stick to the list I’ve made, but of course, you can ask if there’s some other characters I write for, I don’t always remember all the shows, movies or books I’ve consumed over the years and I’m sure I’m missing a lot 😅

Dust, Volume 10, Number 8
Orcas (not Oasis)
Welcome to our all-Oasis edition of Dust!
Just kidding. We slog through August bemused by the excitement over big ticket tours, though we will, if pressed, admit to a fondness for “Wonderwall,” a song often sung jubiliantly by someone we love on the way to track meets and XC ski practice and theater rehearsal years ago (though not as many years ago as it first emerged).
Anyway, we once again trawl the slush pile for the good stuff, opine briefly on its merits and share it with you. We’re sure you’ll find out what the Gallagher brothers are up to from other sources.
This month’s contributors included Bryon Hayes, Ian Mathers, Jonathan Shaw, Tim Clarke, Jennifer Kelly, Bill Meyer, Mason Jones and Christian Carey.
Ark Zead — Niptaktuk (Glacial Movements)
The Italian label Glacial Movements specializes in music that’s chilled, immense and slow, just like its namesake. Niptaktuk continues this icy throughline, offering a series of highly resonant, frost-tinged drone passages. The creator, of which no information is known, sourced these textures from gongs and singing bowls, stretching the frequencies into lengthy, subtly shifting tone clouds. They cleverly balance lighter shades against darker hues, layering pre-dawn shimmer over sub-sonic bass pulses. The delicate patter of scraped and stroked metal adds a sense of the real to these otherwise uncanny soundscapes. Ark Zead drew influence from the cold northern Canadian winter when they created these sounds, yet the experience of listening doesn’t evoke frostbite or blinding blizzards. Instead Niptaktuk, which is an Inuit word that implies oncoming clear skies, is a remedy against frostiness, a kernel of warmth that seeks to melt the winter ice.
Bryon Hayes
The Body & Dis Fig — Orchards of a Futile Heaven (Thrill Jockey)
At this point, at least going by actual releases, surely there are no greater collaborators in heavy music (in all its forms) than The Body. In addition to their stellar work as “just” a duo, Chip King and Lee Buford have at this point collaborated with a real murderers’ row of bands and artists, and those albums absolutely refuse to stick to any particular formula. That they’d work with Dis Fig (aka Felicia Chen), who’s made an excellent, emotionally/sonically challenging record called Purge and sang on a full length by The Bug, makes perfect sense. The result, as with many “The Body &” LPs, is so seamlessly satisfying you’d think this was everyone involved’s main gig. The thunderous drums, harsh noise, and King’s peerless shrieks are all present, and Chen gives a hell of a lead vocal performance to centre it all. The closing one-two punch of “Coils of Kaa”/“Back to the Water” is one of the best endings any 2024 is going to get, Chen wailing in rage and despair as the music collapses buildings around her.
Ian Mathers
Demiser — Slave to the Scythe (Blacklight Media/Metal Blade)
youtube
Retrograde throwback thrash isn’t exactly a growth area in metal, or a particularly enlightened undertaking, culturally speaking. But dudes in denim and bullet-lined bandoliers don’t make records like Slave to the Scythe because they foresee mass-market opportunity or stadiums full of fans in the immediate future. Mostly they don’t see much future at all. Demiser seems to share those perspectives — live fast, die faster, have as much fun as possible in the brief and weird interregnum. Is Slave to the Scythe fun? Depends on your sense of humor, and your tolerance for metal’s more reductive shenanigans. The fellows in the band have given themselves stage names like Gravepisser (he plays guitar) and Infestor (he drums), and they have supplied us with the sublime song title “Hell Is Full of Fire”; no points for innovation, but maximum points for unconquerably up-for-it idiocy. Motörhead seems as significant to Demiser as early Exodus and Kreator (especially the genius of Pleasure to Kill). Sort of nice to hear a thrash record that’s more interested in the riffs than the solos. Sort of fun to play this record really, really loud. Sort of certain that doing so results in becoming materially stupider. That’s okay — it makes that aforementioned lack of a viable future a little less awful to contemplate.
Jonathan Shaw
Dummy — Free Energy (Trouble In Mind)
Dummy’s debut, Mandatory Enjoyment, lived up to its title; it was a record difficult not to appreciate. In her Dusted review, Jennifer Kelly praised it as “a listening experience that simultaneously braces and soothes, agitates and lulls.” Dummy’s second album, Free Energy, has a similar appeal, but knocks this listener off balance with its bizarre fixation on dated drum machines and backwards sounds that bring to mind the baggy indie-dance of the 1990s. You know the stuff: Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine, Jesus Jones, Pop Will Eat Itself. There are some great songs here, such as “Nine Clean Nails,” but you have dig around amongst the misfires to find them. Dummy still have an ear for a good tune, so you can forgive their more questionable aesthetic decision-making.
Tim Clarke
“Father” John Misty — Greatish Hits: I Followed My Dreams and My Dreams Said to Crawl (Sub Pop)
youtube
With streaming supplying abundant amounts of playlists, one might reasonably ask why a greatest hits compilation would be useful. Curation instead of algorithms. “Father” John Misty’s Greatish Hits presents the high points in his catalog, beginning with early songs“Real Love Baby” (2016) and “Nancy from Now On” (2012). It is by no means a chronological survey, nor is it front-loaded like so many collections and playlists. The popular “I Love You Honeybear” (2015) is saved for the penultimate track. The finale, “I Guess Time Just Makes Fools of Us All,” is new. At eight and a half minutes long, it stretches out with saxophone, bongo, and electric piano solos interspersing bluesy pop vocals. Worth the wait - don’t skip ahead!
Christian Carey
Ben Felton A Lot (Island House)
Ben Felton lets the drones linger, layering sounds on top of sounds, like primary-toned transparencies on an overhead projector. You can spend this album watching the colors these tones make when the light shines through them, hitting one, two, three or more guitar/synth textures before getting to the other side. Complex yes, but peaceful, drowsy almost. One track called “A Foghorn or a Loudspeaker,” sounds like just that, an uneasy truce between natural serenity and amplified buzz and hiss. The space it lives in is large and echoey, a cathedral or, more likely, a vast underground cavern with water lapping at the walls. Occasionally, the electronic mode predominates as in the airy percolation of “What You Need.” Yet though the blippy motif is bright and uncorroded, it sits atop a woozy soup of tone; guitar notes crash in sporadically intimating a rustier, more industrial territory nearby. Felton comes from New York but now resides in more bucolic Carrboro, North Carolina. His soundscapes find a meeting place between folk-adjacent ambience and rougher, noisier music. The album gets more propulsive as it goes. Shaken-not-stirred “The Fifth Day,” turns a three-note upward lilting motif into something approaching rock anthemry. You can’t blame the sustained notes for hanging around. It’s nice here, and you want to stay.
Jennifer Kelly
Margarida Garcia And Manuel Mota—Domestic Scene (Feeding Tube)
Upright electric bassist Margarida Garcia and electric guitarist Manuel Mota are part of Lisbon, Portugal’s experimental/improvisational music scene and have worked together with and without the participation of others on seven records besides Domestic Scene over the past decade. It is their first LP to be released in the USA, and there’s something poetic about that fact, because it feels like an echo of the work of one American musician — Loren Connors, and more specifically, 21st century Connors in solo mode. It shares his sparseness, boiled-down lyricism and willingness to disappear into a haze of noise. Since Garcia has associated with him at times, there’s definitely a shared aesthetic. However, these are not young copycats. Mota’s spare progressions proceed according to a different logic, purged of blues and baroque elements, guided by a north star of sequential consonance that adds up to quiet dissonance. And Garcia’s subdued, bow-born cries have an ability to compound, making the music thick with atmosphere, but still stingy with note counts. Play it late.
Bill Meyer
Geneva Jacuzzi — Triple Fire (Dais)
Geneva has been making bedroom synth pop for years. On Triple Fire (named after her astrological sign), the production values tick upward, and several of the songs are club ready. “Laps of Luxury” is a case in point, with Geneva’s dulcet singing abetted by backing vocals, early digital synth sonics, and mechanized beats. “Scena Ballerina” recalls her early bedroom pop, with a taut riff and harmonic swerves. Trebly synths and out of the box percussion underscore an emotive vocal on “Take it or Leave it.” Geneva’s speechsong in “Art is Dangerous” and “Speed of Light” recalls Laurie Anderson’s 1980s work, while “Heart of Poison” has an art rock ambience that incorporates tenor saxophone and is rife with shimmering synths. “Rock and a Hard Place” is an aggressive example of dark wave electronica. The closer, “Yo-yo Boy” is an anthemic piece of minimal synth-pop that reminds listeners of Geneva’s roots while presenting memorable tunefulness.
Christian Carey
Katatonic Silentio — Axis Of Light (Midnight Shift)
Axis Of Light by Katatonic Silentio
Italy-based Mariachiara Troianiello is a long-time DJ, and independent audio and ethnomusicology researcher at the University of San Marino. She also creates electronic music under the name Katatonic Silentio, and on Axis of Light explores a spatial dub, filled with palpating beats and flickering synthesizer sounds. The five tracks on this EP are all based on rhythmic frameworks that skitter and thud with a dark, night-time vibe for the most part. As the title indicates, opener “Drip in the Cave” is indeed subterranean in nature, with rubbery pads and liquid drums reverberating in tactile space. “Bridging the Gap” is lighter and bouncier, bubbling at a fast tempo and filled with electronic hoots and blips. The other pieces mix slow with fast, and machine-like rhythms with heartbeat-like pulses, all swirling in a warehouse ambience populated by ghostly static, quiet bells, or spooky, whistling tones. It’s all a neat combination of machine world and organic atmosphere, like a science-fiction world populated by real, messy people.
Mason Jones
Nicole Marxen — Thorns (Self-Release)
youtube
Nicole Marxen puts an eerie shimmer over rough crescendos of metallic noise, keening in the ghostliest, most disembodied way amidst vibrating slabs of guitar sound. “Thorns,” the album’s spiritual center, floats a chilly line of vocal melody—think Beth Gibbons or Chelsea Wolfe—over a machine-like industrial beat. Fragility blooms in an apocalyptic afterworld. “The Executioner” is heavier, more ominous, slithering to life out of the flickering buzz of downed powerlines. A stolid march emerges soon, swaggering with drums, swelling with amp-frying volume. Marxen presides like a high priestess, unperturbed amid flares, fills and violence. Like Jarboe astride a Justin Broadrick wall of noise, she stakes her claim, with operatic trills and whispered confidences. Dramatic, large-scale stuff.
Jennifer Kelly
Magda Mayas’ Filamental — Ritual Mechanics (Relative Pitch)
Keyboardist Magda Mayas’ music has often evidenced expansive thinking, but it took the resources of a festival to first bring her large group Filamental together. Once convened, she took full advantage of her octet’s assembled potentialities for imagination and sound. Having had one such experience, Mayas wasn’t going to wait for a festival to marshal such a breadth of mindpower and material again, nor was she going to let the impediments to travel and gathering imposed by a world pandemic get in the way. So, she sent out an invitation to an invitation to Filamental’s members and turned their gathered input into two pieces that run a bout 20 minutes in length. Each sets small, contrasting gestures dancing atop a consonant surface of elongated, layered sonorities. Ritual Mechanics is not so much a drone piece as an expression of continuous, focused action, richly detailed and consistently focused.
Bill Meyer
Rob Mazurek — Milan (Clean Feed)
Rob Mazurek has been recording for nearly three decades and performing much longer. His methods encompass composition and improvisation using brass, electronics, voice, and other instruments. In any body of work so broad, there are themes, some more dominant than others. Milan is a successor to Rome, which together comprise a smaller trend that involves recording solo performances in Italian radio studios with nice pianos. Recorded nine years apart, they offer a measure of how Mazurek’s work has changed in that time. Instead of cornet, he plays concert and piccolo trumpets; sternly ceremonial vocalizing and fistfuls of percussion dropped purposefully into the piano assert a more explicitly ritual intent. And, perhaps reflecting the amount of work that Mazurek has done with Damon Locks of late, the electronics now include playback options, so that vocal and instrumental samples (Is that Sun Ra I hear in there? And maybe some Ocora ethnic recordings?) as well as beat patterns muscle their way through the sizzle and smash of the prepared piano. Explicitly conceived as a journey, it’s quite a trip. Mazurek’s ensemble work can be pretty widescreen, but Milan reminds us that he can be epic on his own.
Bill Meyer
Nadja — Jumper (momentarily records)
Out of the many, many records put out by ambient and/or doom metal duo Nadja, it’s truly rare to find one that doesn’t feature Aidan Baker’s guitar in one form or another. But on Jumper, originally released as a bit of an art object on cassette (the online cover art is a look at the contraption that the tape comes in), he restricts himself not just to their drum machine but to layering and processing one particular pattern from it. Leah Buckereff provides bass, a more typical entry in the credits of their release, but here the way the slowly accreting digital noise plays over and around its pulses and feedback gives the whole album a very distinct feeling. Despite the use of drum machine there’s almost no rhythm to the whole hour here (until a surprise right at the end that catches me off guard every time), instead the effect is one of meditative harshness. The result is absolutely industrial, like a factory that’s weirdly compelling to listen to.
Ian Mathers
Orcas — How to Color a Thousand Mistakes (Morr Music)
Orcas — Rafael Anton Irisarri and Benoît Pioulard — haven’t recorded together in a decade, but they have been abundantly busy with their own projects. How to Color a Thousand Mistakes is consistent with past Orcas recordings and also reflects the music they have made in the interim. “Wrong Way to Fall” stands out in both regards, with Pioulard’s husky vocals over shimmering electric guitar solos, synth riffs and minimally complicated, but driving, drums. “Riptide” is populated by a number of different synth parts against a terse countermelody in the guitar. “Swells” has a strong vocal performance, while vibrato and pitch bends in the synths and economical guitar parts make for a memorable arrangement. “Fare” covers all the bases, with Pioulard’s voice double-tracked in a soaring chorus alongside mellifluous electronics, emphatic guitars, and plenty of drum fills. The recording’s closer, “Umbra,” has an extended introduction with a bass melody and warm synths. Then tangy dissonance and glissandos abound in both voice and instruments. It epitomizes the atmospheric textures that Orcas seem able to summon at will.
Christian Carey
Oxygen Destroyer — Guardian of the Universe (Redefining Darkness)
Guardian of the Universe by Oxygen Destroyer
Guardian of the Universe is another slab of monster-movie-themed, death-metal-inflected thrash from Oxygen Destroyer. The Seattle-based band’s previous LP, Sinister Monstrosities Spawned by the Unfathomable Ignorance of Mankind (2021), expanded their long-standing kaiju theme to include colossal beasts from outside the canon of the Tojo Studios Godzilla movies. The new record shifts tactics, focusing exclusively on Gamera and the giant turtle’s films for one of Tojo’s competitors, Daiei Films. It’s hard to know how much the record will appeal to listeners for whom those inside-baseball kaiju references mean little to nothing. But if you’re down for songs that attempt to replicate the absurd pleasures of Gamera in flight — head and limbs retracted into its massive shell, which then spins and shoots sheets of sparks from the holes, natch — this may be the record for you. Guardian of the Universe is non-stop fireworks: crazy, thrashy riffs; maniacal flat-out sprints; dive-bombing guitar solos. Should we take any of it seriously? This reviewer won’t hold forth (again) on the cultural stakes of post-war kaiju films. If you know, you know. And mostly what matters here is the band’s complete conviction and the joys of the music’s excesses. In these dog days of summer, it’s exactly what some of us need.
Jonathan Shaw
Peel Dream Magazine — Rose Main Reading Room (Topshelf)
Rose Main Reading Room by Peel Dream Magazine
It’s been four years since I’ve checked in on Peel Dream Magazine, whose second album Agitpop Alterna I described in my Dust review as “just like early Stereolab, with occasional blasts of shoe-gazey guitar thrown in for good measure.” I missed PDM’s third album Pad, so this brings us to album number four, Rose Main Reading Room. There’s still plenty of Stereolab in the mix, especially in the Mary Hansen-style backing vocals, the Farfisa, and the squelchy synth sounds (see “Oblast”). But here there’s more of a lean towards the baroque pop of Sufjan Stevens circa Illinois, mainly thanks to the chunky glimmer of vibraphone and the spiraling flute lines, which really brighten up proceedings. This balance between droning indie-rock and tuneful pop is very pretty, with sufficient musical complexity to invite rewarding repeat listens.
Tim Clarke
Plastic Bubble — Circular Breathing EP (Garden Gate/Moon Control)
The Circular Breathing EP by Plastic Bubble
Here’s a slab of happy, giddy, psychedelic garage rock which, except for the 2024 release date, wouldn’t be out of place in the Elephant Six universe. Lexington, KY’s Matt Taylor and Elisa McCabe are the chief blowers of bubbles, spinning out rough but iridescent songs like “Recontextualize,” where a guitar vamp grinds but vocals drift in pop ideality, “ah, ah, ah,” indeed. A classic indie boy-girl vibe permeates these five songs, with McCabe especially fetching in “Bright Morning.” “Forever” pulls back on the guitar roar to uncover a jaunty, girl-group bounce, with sweet counterparts and harmonies weaving in and around McCabe’s part. The set closes with a banger, part Who, part Fountains of Wayne, and all the way infectious, “Anything and Everything.”

SUUNS — The Breaks (Joyful Noise)
The Breaks by SUUNS
Elusiveness characterized SUUNS’ last album, 2021’s The Witness. As I noted in my Dusted review, “There’s no denying that its elusive character is part of its charm, but there are stretches where it feels more evasive than elusive, stubbornly refusing to engage more directly.” On their new album, The Breaks, the Montreal band are more direct in terms of the sounds they’re employing, but more evasive when it comes to songwriting. The majority of contemporary pop music is based around heavily effected vocal melodies and beats, which The Breaks seems to take as a cue towards similar immediacy. However, aside from the title track, the nagging piano of “Road Signs and Meanings,” and the loping stomp of opener “Vanishing Point,” this record is a tough nut to crack.

Tatsongs — Bushcraft (Self-Release)
Bushcraft by tat songs
Tatsongs are neither tat, nor really songs. The former implies fussy decoration, and these long, glacially evolving pieces seem as raw and elemental as rock formations. You can almost hear an icy wind blowing through their sheered off contours. The latter argues for a Pavlov’s buzzer of pleasing tone arrangements, and Tatsongs’ Tom Sadler is really not concerned whether you can guess then next 10 seconds of his compositions from the preceding 20. But even so, there’s something to be said for looming, sheeny layers of guitar and synth sounds that carve space and time into epic, barren landscapes. Tones vibrate in and out of true, zooming close and fading back, twitching in rhythm and coalescing in static fuzzed drones. Not a song in the bunch, nor much embroidery, but powerful stuff nonetheless.
Jennifer Kelly
TELESTIALVISIONS — Taurus in a Field (Island House)
Taurus in a Field by TELESTIALVISION
As Dittocrush, Pittsburgh resident Trevor D. Crush assembles tape loops into ambient symphonies. He often adds layers of live instrumentation from other musicians, such as Island House associate Chaz Prymek (Lake Mary, Fuubutsushi) and guitarist Ryan Fedor. TELESTIALVISIONS is his latest project, a tag team with New York guitarist Brinton Jones. The pair offer up a frothy brew that tastes rich and complex. Their debut Taurus in a Field is a pair of woozy collages that, while undeniably loose, are sharp in focus when compared to Dittocrush’s ghostly soundscapes. Crush’s tapes construct tangible shapes that intersect in a variety of patterns, while Jones unveils angelic melodies with his guitar. These two are telling a story that’s more Borges than Burroughs, a fantastical tale that defies conventional logic but manages to meander toward a graspable conclusion.
Bryon Hayes
Tycho — Infinite Health (Ninja Tune)
Infinite Health by Tycho
Tycho is Scott Hansen, and Scott Hansen is a designer. You can hear Hansen’s day job in Tycho’s music: the clean lines, the smart use of space, the sheer digestibility of it all. But should music go down quite this easy? Listening to Infinite Health feels a little bit like you’re at a trendy gym, playing a bit-part in an advert, or hitting up a bar packed with influencers. The common denominator is wanting to feel seen; everything plays a part in attracting attention. The synths sound like Boards of Canada, some of the funkier electro-pop moments sound like Daft Punk, and there’s an expensive sheen over everything. It’s hard to deny it’s appealing, but it also feels like experiencing capitalist obsolescence in real time.
Tim Clarke
White Collar—S/T (Static Shock)
White Collar by White Collar
Listeners with a long memory for North American hardcore might flash on those mid-1980s records by White Flag when listening to this new release from White Collar. Like that earlier Inland Empire band, White Collar frequently turns its critical gaze and its caustic smart-assery on the contemporary cultural climate of punk and politics as lifestyle (and your reviewer uses that odious term advisedly here). Songs like “Compassion Fatigue” and “Petition Signer” snarl at and spit on liberalism’s excesses of self-righteous smugness, to often hilarious effect. There’s a puritanical element to Gen Z’s dispositions and discourse that White Collar finds deeply irritating — not that the band is against strong ethico-political speech; check out “Meat Market” and “Equal Wrongs.” This is not the space for sustained analysis of Gen Z punk, and the extent to which we may want some sort of political purity from punk in the first place. But certainly, it’s an intrinsic good for punk to have snotty, disputatious and nasty voices in the mix. White Collar’s songs are short and sharp, and vocalist Loosey C’s performance is memorably unpleasant. Snarl on, punks.

Twisted Fantasy | A Bada Lee Wattpad Fanfic
this is chapter 7 of my fanfic twisted fantasy if you want to read it click here
pairings: bada lee x chen jiayi
2013
Bada felt sorry for her neighbors, knowing that they're probably sick of hearing her parents yell day and night. As she was heading downstairs, her mother's voice rang out, "Come back here, you ungrateful brat! Where are you going?"
"To kill myself," Bada muttered, slipping on her jacket.
"What did you say?!" her mother yelled, she turned to her husband "Joon talk some senses into your daughter" he just glanced up from his newspaper, briefly, before quickly returning to his reading.
"I'm going to the library. I'll be back by five," Bada said and closed the door before her mother could continue berating her.
The cold air hit her as she stepped outside as she stepped out into the frigid air. The snow was already starting to fall, but Bada didn't mind the winter weather. In fact, she loved it. As the snowflakes danced through the air, she took a deep breath and smiled.
"Now this is what I call winter weather," she exclaimed, feeling alive. With a skip in her step, Bada headed towards Jia's house. She knew that Jia wasn't home, but that wasn't the point. She just wanted to be in a place that was comfortable and familiar.
The house came into view, a quaint little light green-colored house with white fences bordering the front yard. Bada smiled at the sight as a wave of nostalgia washed over her. She grinned as she spotted her and Jia's names carved together on the familiar tree in the backyard. Her eyes twinkled as she let out a light chuckle.
Standing at the front porch, Bada knocked on the door and waited patiently. A minute later, the door was opened, and she was met with the warm, loving face of the older woman she adored.
"Bada" It felt like the most natural thing in the world, being welcomed by Aunt Ling with her big smile and open arms, holding her in such a close embrace. Despite everything, she felt safe in Jia's house
"Hi aunt Ling"
"How are you, sweetie?" Jia's mother gently took Bada's face in her hands and plucked a stray hair behind her ear. "Jia isn't home right now, but come inside, I made some warm cookies, they're fresh out of the oven."
Bada's heart warmed at the sight of the unconditional motherly love. She knew Jia was lucky to have such a supportive and caring mother, who always had her best interests at heart. To have a stable parental figure who is there for you through thick and thin, no matter what. Bada wasn't so lucky, despite her unfortunate circumstances, Bada found herself feeling welcomed and at ease in Jia's home, away from her own family problems.
"I know, I wanted to hang out with you and talk," Bada said "What? You don't like my company, Aunt Ling?"
Unable to hide her amusement, Jia's mom rolled her eyes playfulness at the teasing. "You know you're like my own daughter, dear,"
As Bada and the older woman made their way to the kitchen, Bada smirked and asked, "Soo... you were talking about cookies?"
Jia's mom smiled as she placed the freshly-baked cookies on a plate and handed them to Bada. "There you go, sweetheart,"
As Bada hesitated before taking a bite, she glanced at her, asking, "Did Jia help you make these?"
"Do you take me for a fool? Of course not!" She chuckled handing her a glass of milk, "I certainly don't want to end up in the hospital from poisoning."
As she took a big bite of the cookie, Bads couldn't help but let out a soft groan in satisfaction. Aunt Ling knew how to get in her heart
"So have you thought about college?" the chinesd woman asked as she sat in front of Bada "What do you want to do, this is your last year after all"
Bada felt a sense of anxiety wash over her when the topic of college came up. She knew where she wanted to go but feared her parents' reaction as it didn't meet their expectations. Her mother wanted her to become a doctor while her father didn't care as long as it had something to do with business, despite the delicious cookies in front of her, now her appetite for them was dampened.
"Uh.. I don't know" Bada mumbled, "I really want to go to the University of Arts, but I don't think my parents will agree with that."
Jia's mom gently took her hand, her smile comforting. She'd seen Bada's parents many times before, and knew exactly how they could be.
"Follow your heart," she said, her tone firm and reassuring. "Don't bow to expectations or regrets. Don't do something out of fear or obligation. Do what you want, follow your joy."
Bada recalled how different Jia's mom was from her own, she wondered why it was so hard to have a motherly relationship with her.
"I'll just follow Jia anyway. I'm attached to her at the hip."
The woman let out a hearty laugh, and Bada couldn't help but join in.
"That you are!" she agreed, "I wanted a daughter, and I got two for the price of one!"
"But seriously," she said, pausing for a moment to emphasize the point she was making. "What you guys have is just...so special."
"Jia needs you, you need her. You're each other's home," she added, her words carrying a weight and meaning behind them. "Don't let anyone break this bond," she stressed, "Don't let anyone tear you apart. You're two halves of the same soul. You're each others home"
As she stood up to hug her, Bada suddenly felt her emotions taking over.
"Ahh, Aunt Ling!" she whined, her voice breaking as she pressed herself against Ling's embrace. "Stop! You know how sensitive I am."
Jia's mom chuckled as she pressed a kiss on top of Bada's head
"Hugging without me?" Lia asked as she interrupted Bada's and her mothers embrace, a teasing smile on her lips
Bads smirked, "Yes, well I'm her favorite."
As Jia sighed, she admitted defeat, "Well, I can't argue with that."
"Stop it, you two," her mom scolded playfully, as she widened her embrace and pulled Jia in closer.
Jia's eyes shifted to Bada, who stood beside her, eyes closed as she relished the warm embrace around her. "She's so pretty," Jia thought to herself, gaze filled with wonder and admiration.
She had never considered herself a sappy romantic, but there was no denying the love and admiration she felt for Bada. Everything about her friend was...perfect. Her smile, her laugh, her kindness, her beauty...it all came together to make her the most amazing person in the world. Jia was sure that Bada was perfect in every way.
"Alright, why don't you two go out and treat yourselves with a hot chocolate?" her mom suggested, with a smile. She pulled her wallet out of her bag, but when she saw that she only had 27000 won left in her wallet, her face fell.
She was a single mom, who was left to pay her husband's debts. Sometimes, she even had to work overtime so she could get paid a little more money.
It was a constant struggle, but she stayed strong for her daughter. She wanted to make sure Jia had everything she needed, even if she had to sacrifice her own wants for it.
It wasn't easy, but as a mother, she always had to keep moving forward. Taking 14000 won from her wallet, she turned to the young girls.
Jia's brow raised, she knew they weren't good with money right now. " Mom-" before she could protest , her mother simply waved her hand and dismissed her concern.
"Now go," Ling told them both, "Don't let me bore you."
Bada smiled, "I would choose you over Jia any day, Aunt Ling. You're just so much more fun!"
Jia then pinched Bada's arm, making her yelp.
"Hey!" she exclaimed, and looked at Jia with a mix of annoyance and laughter.
"You were saying?" Jia taunted, to which Bada responded with a scowl and a poke to Jia's arm.
Saying goodbye to Jia's mom, Bada and Jia swung open the door before stepping out, their laughter echoed throughout the neighborhood.
The moment was one that Bada would never forget. Snow was falling, each snowflake sparkling in the sunlight.
Bada looked up at Lia to see the snowflakes settling gently upon her dark hair. She couldn't help but smile "Look, your hair is covered in snow!"
Lia whined and ruffled her hair, attempting to get rid of the snowflakes that settled on her hair, "I hate winter."
"Take that back"
"No- BADA" Jia screamed when Bada threw herself on ber back, she immediately grabbed her friend's legs to prevent her from falling
"I can't carry you, you giraffe!" the short girl whined But her whining fell on deaf ears, as Bada ignored her complaint and began playing with Jia's hair.
After they arrived at their destination, Bada got off Jia's back. Jia, in her usual playful manner, threw herself to the ground.
"Call an ambulance," she groaned, but Bada was having no part of that.
"Get up, you lazy fuck." Bada chuckled, throwing some snow on Jia's face
"Bitch" Jia threw a snowball back at her, hitting Bad right in the face with a soft crunch.
Bada groaned at the cold hit, and was about to throw another one but someone approached them
"Are you okay?"
Jia's eyes widened at the voice, taking in the sight of the girl before her. She was gorgeous, her hair was raven black, with a few hints of red shining through. She had a sweet and gentle expression on her face, and Jia was mesmerized by it.
She looked like a doll, Jia felt her face flush with embarrassment as she realized she was laying in the snow, her hair a mess and snow still probably on her face. It certainly wasn't her best moment...
"Do you need any help?" she offered Jia her hand
Jia's ears turned red, as the girl's question sent her embarrassment into overdrive. She took the girl's hand, her heart beating quickly as she looked up at her again
"We were just playing," Bada muttered, with a scowl on her face as she watched Jia take the girl's hand. She was about to help her before the this girl came
Bada didn't know why she got so worked up over such a small thing. Maybe it was because the two of them were looking at each other, smiling and ignoring her, as though she didn't even exist.
Or maybe it was because a spark of jealousy was growing inside her. Bada shook those thoughts away, she can't be jealous, there was no reason to be jealous. She didn't like Jia that way
"My name is Hyunjin," the girl smiled, and Bada rolled her eyes.
"I'm Jia and this is my friend Bada," Jia smiled, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear
Bada didn't know if she should get mad at Jia for introducing her as just her friend, or the fact that she did the hair thing
Jia's habit of doing her hair and looking at her with that soft, dreamy expression usually happened when they were together.
That was only reserved for her.
"Nice to meet you g-"
"We should head inside Im freezing"
Hyunjin looked at Bada with a sweet and apologetic smile, "Sorry I kept you outside waiting too long. It was nice meeting you, I hope we will see each other again."
Hyunjin then turned to Jia and waved goodbye, as Bada watched on with a pang of jealousy and mixed feelings.
Jia smiled and waved back, and Bada couldn't help but watch her with a glare. The second the girls entered the cafe, Jia immediately began to ramble.
"She was so pretty, oh my god!" Jia said with a grin, her cheeks hurting from smiling so much.
"She was okay I guess" Bada's tone was clearly not as enthusiastic as Jia's.
"Her hair was so long and dark," Jia continued.
Bada looked at her hair "My hair is long and dark too," she said, rolling her eyes a bit.
"She was so tall."
"I was taller than her." Bada shrugged, clearly annoyed at Jia now.
"Are you jealous Bada" Jia was amused, never in her life did she see Bada act like this
"What, pfft, I'm not," Bada insisted, her eyes widening as she ranted to Jia.
"Why would I be jealous, she was just a random girl," she rambled, trying to convince herself as well as Jia. Jia couldn't help but giggle, and Bada rolled her eyes.
You're just making it worse," Jia teased, and Bada's cheeks flushed a dark red.
"Stop it Im not"
The younger girl only laughed "whatever you say"
"Don't laugh at me!" Bada grumbled, Jia smiled squeezing her cheeks
"You're such a baby"
"Jiahh~" Bada sighed, following after her with a pout on her face. After ordering their food plus two cupcakes, Bada proceeded to pay, which caused Jia to become annoyed. Bada was aware of her friend's financial struggles. She was financially better than most of the villagers, her parents both having businesses, they were useful after all
"Fuck They gave me carrot cupcake instead of strawberry," Bada complainrd. It seemed like this wasn't gonna be her day.
"Here, take mine" Jia offered, already having switched the cupcakes. However, Bada protested, "No, you don't like carrot either."
"I don't like it while you hate it," Jia reasoned, "So, I don't mind."
"So why were you at my house?" Jia asked "Not that I mind but I was confused"
Bada took a sip of her hot chocolate and shrugged. "My mom was annoying again, nothing new."
Jia felt sorry for her, knowing that Bada had a bad relationship with her mother. She wished she could do something to help make it better.
"If you want, you can stay over at my house tonight." Jia offered, and Bada felt a twinge of sadness.
It hurt to say no, but she had no choice. Her mom isn't letting her hang out with Jia, and she didn't plan telling her friend that. She didn't want to hurt her feelings
"Sorry, I can't tonight." Bada winced at her bad lie. "I got grounded by my mom for skipping history and getting detention."
Jia's smile fell a bit, knowing that Bada hadn't actually been in detention this week as far as she knew. Plus, she never said no to sleepovers.
"Alright, maybe another time." Jia replied
"Sorry for the interruption girls" an older woman with a camera in hand interrupted the duo, causing them to look up from their conversation.
"Since Christmas is coming soon, we just want to get in the holiday spirit. We're taking photos of every customer and hanging it on the wall," she explained, pointing at a yellow painted wall that had been covered with cute polaroid pictures.
"Of course," It was Bads who spoke
"Amazing can you get in one booth" the woman said and jia nodded. She went to Bada's side and put her arm around her shoulder and leaned closer
As Jia stood beside Bada, Bada couldn't help but feel a little mesmerized by her smile. Jia's warm and engaging smile made her feel all kinds of good feelings.
Bada looked at her and felt her heart race. She wanted to grab her and pull her close. She wanted to kiss her, holy fuck she wanted to kiss her.
"Let me take another one." The woman's voice pulled her back from her thoughts of Jia.
"Ah, thank you so much, here you can keep this one," the woman slid the polaroid picture towards the girls as they both reached for it.
However, Bada, not waiting for Lia to take it, snatched the photo, holding it in her hands "I'll be keeping this"
"Not fair, I want to keep it,"
"I'm older than you so shut up,"
"Idiot," Jia muttered, reaching for her own whipped cream, taking some and placing it on Bada's nose.
As time passed, Jia and Bada continued to tease each other, engaging in playful banter and their favorite thing, talking shit about their classmates.
When the two girls finished their drinks, they got up from their table and left the café. Bada checked the time on her phone and her heart sank as she saw it was already 6 p.m. Not to mention 3 missed calls from her mom.
Time had flown by while they were talking, and she knew she was in trouble.
"I have to go!" Bada said in panic. "I told my mom I'd be home by 5."
Jia smiled at her and planted a quick kiss on her cheek. "Okay, I'll see you tomorrow at school."
Bada was too caught up in her panic to notice her own cheek turning red, but Jia did and a bit of a rosy hue came to her face.
She broke into a run, heading for her house. Her heart racing, she just hoped she wasn't in too much trouble.
A wave of anxiety swept over her as she spotted the familiar white house. She slowed her pace before entering the gate, her heart beating quickly.
She entered through the gate slowly and quietly, and took a deep breath and gathered herself before making her way to the house. She reached for the front door, and felt her chest tighten as she opened it and stepped through it.
She entered the house to find it strangely silent.
The first room she looked into was the living room, and she saw her father sleeping with a newspaper laid open on his stomach.
"Mom, I'm home!" She yelled after closing the door behind her. She listened to the house quietly for a moment, waiting for a response from her mother.
But nothing could be heard, and after a few moments of silence, she broke in a grin. She wasn't home
She ran upstairs to her room, throwing herself onto her bed and unlocking her phone. She made a mental note to delete her search history after this
Hesitating briefly, she typed "why do I want to kiss my girl best friend," into her search bar. The results were immediately full of articles and websites of what she searched
She clicked on the first website, and her phone was filled with different messages
'You like her ( just kiss once, if you both are close friend)'
'Life is complicated as it is and it looks like you want to make it even more so'
'You may be bi or lesb congrats'
'May God help you'
'You are most likely a lesbian but don't know it.'
Bads quickly deleted her search history, feeling a wave of anxiety wash over her. Throwing her phone away, she grabbed her head with both hands.
She stared at the photo of her and Jia, and the memories of earlier came flooding back.
She likes girls
Most importantly, she likes her best friend

4. Long Term Pining
Now. This is very kind of you. You know how I feel about pining. Here's a list of faves in which the pining is significant in length and significant within the story; I'm going to put these in order of length of time. Please notice that we're starting in high numbers, because my men know how to pine (and I probably even missed some because my men do be pining):
La Pluie (Patts: 7 years)
Our Dating Sim (Lee Wan and Ki Tae: 7 years)
Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese (Wataru: 7 years + years the film spans)
Old Fashioned Cupcake (Togawa: ~8 years)
His (Shun and Nagisa: ~8 years?)
Lovely Writer (Nubsib: (~8 years?)
Minato's Laundromat (Shin: 10 years)
Tokyo in April Is....(Ren and Kazuma: 10 years)
My DNA Says Love you (WenWen: 10 years)
The Warp Effect (Army: 10 years)
Cherry Blossoms After Winter (Tae Sung: ~12 years)
The Untamed (Lan Zhan: 15 years)
Your Name Engraved Herein (Jia Han and Birdy: 33 years)
Something In My Room (Phat: ~40 years)
I Feel You Linger in the Air (Yai: ~60 years/a lifetime? if we count the book as canon, two lifetimes)
Dear Doctor I'm Coming for Soul (Tuapee: ~130ish years [~30 years + additional lifetimes, has to wait 100 years or something like that before they can be in the same reincarnation cycle so I'm assuming that holds])
Midnight Museum (Khatha: ~200+ years)
Guardian (Shen Wei: 10,000+ literal years)
[Ones I wasn't sure of length on offhand so I might be wrong that they're too short for the above list--anyone feel free to let me know if you do: Bad Buddy, Kabe Koji, You're My Sky. Also mentioning Eternal Yesterday here because we see Mitsuru at the end after 5 years still pining but it's implied he'll never stop for the rest of his life]
A couple of bonus GL additions (because the girls be pining too):
Fragrance of the First Flower (~15 years)
Legend of Yunze (~1000 Years)
10. Bodyguard
I answered this once, so I'll go for a GL this time:
You Yi and Yan Wei in Couple of Mirrors. Assassin as bodyguard is only extra if people aren't trying to kill you. You Yi is saved so many times by Yan Wei that I don't care whether it's strictly canon. Also, LOOK AT THEM
I know I keep choosing censored Chinese outings for this prompt but honestly is anyone doing it like them???? My other option was going to be PingXie from The Lost Tomb series. Listen, I did enjoy Where Your Eyes Linger, Never Let Me Go and KinnPorsche, but I'd argue the bodyguards in all of those series were not particularly good bodyguards lol
14. Sunshine/Sunshine
There are some wonderful sunshines in BL! I think all of my faves have been written about so I'm just going to throw the first five that came to mind here and try not to think about the ones I'm definitely missing:
Daisy and Intouch from Secret Crush on You
Mork and Tawan from My Ride
Cake and See Eiw from My Only 12%
Key and Chen from Boys' Lockdown
Aki and Haru from Let's Eat Together Aki and Haru
+bonus GL
Pearl and Alex from Pearl Next Door
Link to the original ask game post!
#ask game#thank you for the ask!#sapphic media#bl meta#multi bl#typed so that I can stop thinking it

"The Song of the Sea" for the fake fic title

Summary:
The warmest Color. The favorite Color. The only Color left.
Can one imagine, just imagine, what it's like to blink and find that a Rangers entire team has vanished into thin air because some kind of catastrophe happened that could not be mended, could not be fixed, could not be changed.
And they tried everything, every Blue Ranger that ended up rushing to Angel Grove like their internal compass told them it was the only place to be in their time of gut wrenching sadness and anxiety. Like birds flocking south for the winter or monarch butterflies making for their mating grounds in spectacular fashion.
There were inventions to be had since Billy was allowed to commandeer Promethea in wake of the disappearance of Grace, Terona, and Matt since the Command Center was essentially on lockdown; there were spells to be attempted by Maddie and Tori and Kevin and--given that he was hooking up with an undersea princess--Chad; there were calls to be made from one planet to another asking if this had ever happened on any other world with Justin, T.J., Kai, Rocky, and Ethan. There was even some interdimensional quandaries with Flynn, Ravi, Koda, Max, Sky and--with a suitable amount of begging down on one knee--Kiya.
This must have been some version of hell; the stillness and silence, but for the times one of them remembered to turn on a radio that played classical piano or the kind of rock that sounds like a garbage disposal being forced to chew on metal screws.

Cattle and mud
Dee Griffin, a feedlot veterinarian in Nebraska states that 11 cm (4 in.) of mud reduces weight gain (Dee Griffin, Great Plains Veterinary Educational Center, Clay Center, Nebraska, personal communication, 2016). Dikeman and Lawrence (1997) and Degen and Young (1995) both report that cold, wet muddy cattle may have higher energy requirements and the effort to walk through mud may affect feedlot performance. Mud will increase the cost of weight gain (Mader, 2011). According to Chris Reinhardt from Kansas State University, deep mud of over 30 cm (12 in.) inches will increase feed conversion by 25% (Thomas, 2013). Sweeten et al. (2014) states that 11 to 20 cm (4 to 8 in.) of mud will increase feed conversion by 13% and decrease feed intake from 8% to 15%. There is lack of peer reviewed scientific studies on the effects of mud on beef cattle housed in outdoor feedlots. Most of the available information for beef cattle is in extension publications, livestock magazines, or is based on practical experience (Thomas, 2013; Sweeten et al., 2014). There is some scientific literature is on dairy cows. Dairy cows prefer to lay on dry sawdust compared to wet sawdust, and they also prefer to lie on dry surfaces (Fregonesi et al., 2007, Tucker et al., 2015). Grandin, T. (2016). Evaluation of the welfare of cattle housed in outdoor feedlot pens. Veterinary and Animal Science, 1-2, 23–28. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.vas.2016.11.001
---
Wet, muddy, or hard surfaces impact the lying behaviours of dairy cows through reducing total lying times (Chen et al., 2017, Hendriks et al., 2019, Herlin, 1997, Schütz et al., 2019), reduced number of lying bouts (Chen et al., 2017, Haley et al., 2001, Hendriks et al., 2019, Fisher et al., 2003), and altered lying position (Chen et al., 2017, Schütz et al., 2019, Tucker et al., 2007). When prevented from lying, cattle have an increased risk of lameness (Thomsen et al., 2012) and disruption to the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis (Fisher et al., 2002). The impacts of posture on cow comfort and quality of rest and/or sleep are yet to be determined, however it is thought a lying posture with a relaxed neck is required for cattle to engage in REM sleep (Hunter et al., 2021, Ruckebusch, 1972, Ternman et al., 2014). Despite a similar percent of observations of lying in the feedlot compared to the pasture for both pad scores 1 and 3, the number of lying bouts was higher in the feedlot, indicating that bout duration was shorter. This suggests decreased comfort, potentially impacting quality of rest and/or sleep. For pad score 5 treatment, both number of lying bouts and time periods where lying was observed were reduced in the feedlot, showing a clear impact on lying behaviours. Therefore, mud may impact lying behaviour in different ways, depending on its depth, and continuous housing under these conditions may reduce welfare if a more suitable surface is not provided. Increasing levels of mud did not influence cattle preferences for the feedlot or pasture environment when tested under relatively warm weather conditions. Overall, cattle preferred the pasture environment at all pad scores, especially when tested in the afternoon. However, even with high mud levels, cattle chose to enter the feedlot and therefore it appears that the grain-based feed was a greater attractant over any negative aspects of the feedlot. Despite this, high levels of mud reduced both lying time and number of lying bouts in the feedlot and was accompanied by an increase in these behaviours in the paddock, indicating that animal comfort and welfare may have been reduced under these muddy conditions. The main limitation of the current study is that it was not performed during winter, in which the cold and muddy conditions may increase thermoregulatory load and further influence environment choice and behaviours. Dickson, E. J., Campbell, D. L. M., Monk, J. E., Lea, J. M., Colditz, I. G., & Lee, C. (2022). Increasing mud levels in a feedlot influences beef cattle behaviours but not preference for feedlot or pasture environments. Cattle spent less time lying down in muddier conditions, especially in the first 24 h of exposure, when cows and heifers spent only 3.2 and 5.8 h, respectively, lying down in the muddiest treatment compared with 12.5 and 12.7 h on dry soil. When the soil was dry, cattle never chose to lie down on concrete, but in muddier conditions they spent a greater proportion of their lying time on concrete (mean ± SE: 56 ± 14 and 10 ± 8% in the very muddy and muddy treatments, respectively). The shift in lying location was more marked for heifers, and all 6 spent ≥87% of their lying time on concrete in the muddiest treatment. When cattle chose to lie down on wetter soil, they limited the surface area exposed to their surroundings by tucking their legs beneath their bodies (mean ± SE: 30 ± 11, 15 ± 4, and 5 ± 2% of lying observations in the very muddy, muddy, and dry treatments, respectively). Despite cattle spending less time on wetter soil, all 3 measured body parts became dirtier in muddier conditions (1.4-, 1.6-, and 1.8-fold more on the leg, udder, and side, respectively, in the muddiest compared with the driest treatment). In addition, higher soil moisture levels resulted in greater reductions in white blood cell counts relative to baseline levels (−0.95, −0.43, and 0.34 × 109/L relative to baseline levels in the very muddy, muddy, and dry treatments). Muddy conditions, even in the absence of wind or rain, are aversive for cattle and have negative implications for their welfare. In the final 24 h of treatment, cattle spent less time lying in muddier conditions and spent more time standing without feeding (Table 4). The amount of time cattle spent feeding did not differ across levels of soil moisture, and we observed no effects of parity and no parity × treatment interactions (F1, 22 ≤ 1.7, P ≥ 0.207). The average amount of time cattle spent in various areas of the pen in each treatment is depicted in Figure 3. In muddier conditions, the proportion of time cattle spent on soil decreased and the proportion on concrete increased (treatment F1, 22 = 23.9, P < 0.001; Figure 4A). This pattern was more marked for heifers than for cows (parity × treatment interaction F1, 22 = 7.2, P = 0.014), because the former spent a greater proportion of their time on concrete (parity F1, 22 = 9.2, P = 0.006). Chen, J. M., Stull, C. L., Ledgerwood, D. N., & Tucker, C. B. (2017). Muddy conditions reduce hygiene and lying time in dairy cattle and increase time spent on concrete. Within 30 m of the water tank, concentrations of feces and urine from three warm-season observations were significantly greater than concentrations during three cool-season observations. Percentages of defecations and urinations on the pasture, feeding, and milking areas were highly correlated (r > 0.90) with time spent in those areas. Pasture-based systems could reduce manure handling and storage requirements proportional to the time cattle are on pastures. Manure on the pasture was evenly distributed, except around the water tank during warm-weather grazings. Results indicate that pasture-based dairy systems may require smaller, less-expensive manure management systems compared with confinement dairy farms. White, S. L., Sheffield, R. E., Washburn, S. P., King, L. D., & Green, J. T. (2001). Spatial and time distribution of dairy cattle excreta in an intensive pasture system. My top 10 korean OSTs of 2022.
Hope you had a great time celebrating the new year! I was supposed to post this last week but last year I really was the worst at keeping up with my tumblr. I guess the whole working adult thing is draining me already of my hobbies. Anyway, hopefully I'll do a better job this year. Here's my favorite OSTs of last year.
10. Suzy- Inevitable. Extraordinary Attorney Woo Young Woo was one of the most popular dramas last year and this soft cute ballad by Suzy was such a joy to listen to.
9. MINO ft Gaeko- City+++. So I usually only include OSTs from korean dramas but I really loved the korean movie Seoul vibe. I don't know why I wasn't expecting much of Mino's debut as an actor and he really delievered as the courky nemesis of Yoo Ah In's character in the movie. He also co-wrote this OST and the song is so much fun.
youtube
8. Sole- La vie. This is such a cool song in english with crazy vocals and was my favorite Little Women OST.
youtube
7. Minhyun-Tree. So technically this song is from Alchemy of the Souls Part 1 and 2 but since it was released as the soundtrack of Part 2 I'll give myself and pass and add it as my favorite song of Part 2. I loved Part 1 and I am enjoying Part 2 of this epic drama. The OSTs are all so great but this one is one of my faves for sure. Minhyun's sweet vocals are just so beautiful. Ailee's I'm sorry was recently released and it's a great listen.
youtube
6. Melomance-Love Maybe. Business Proposal was a hilarious drama to watch. I've always loved Melomance's vocals so it was great to listen to this song over and over in the drama (Kim Sejong's acoustic version is also great). Bam bam's Melting is also a fun listen.
youtube
5. TAEYEON- By my side. The drama Our Blues was not really for me. It's well done though. The lyrics and Taeyeon's voice hits you right in the feels. By the way there were several songs from this drama that are amazing including Jimin's and Ha Sung Won's With you, Heize's The Last, NINGNING and Winter's Once Again, 10 cm's For Love, Punch's Bye bye and Davichi's Remember me.
4. SOHYANG-Luminous. I have to confess I only watched the first two episodes of Poong, the Joseon psychiatrist however the OSTs were so good. Sohyang has such an outstanding voice and it's so well suited for a historical drama so it was no surprised I loved this ballad. Make sure to check out Solji's By Your Side and Standing Egg's She.
3. CHEN-An unfamiliar day. Chen came back from the military on april of 2022 and by june he had already released an OST he's such an OST king! He also released another in november but it was this one from the drama Doctor Lawyer that I really loved. The drama was intense for sure and so were the OSTs. Make sure to listen to Freedom by Lee Changsub.
youtube
2. DOYOUNG-Unable to love. I was watching the web drama Dear X Who Doesn't Love Me, a slow burn friend to lovers drama with a supernatural spin to it, and I was really into Doyoung's portrayal of the unrequited love he has for main character and I was really emotional envolved so when I went and listen to the full live song I was overwhelmed by his delievery of this song and it really became one of my most listned OSTs of the year.
youtube
1. JEONG SEOWOON-Just watching you. This was the most iconic OST of Alchemy of the Souls and I think we have stablished by now just how much I loved the drama so this became my favorite OST of the year for sure. The epic feel of the drama was perfectly portrayed by Seowoon's vocals and the beat. Please check out the rest of the songs for this drama because there's so many great ones like Scars leave beautiful trace by Car, the garden, Aching by Kassy, Raindops by Gummy and Breath by Kim Na Young.
