Tuunbaq let not one but two little toddlers give him a hug yesterday and happily sat licking their faces the whole time but then also snarl-roared at a yorkie for existing too close to him. Win some lose some.

really so fulfilling to service reactive dogs. checked in a patient that was nonstop barking and lunging while i calmly shout-asked for history from the clearly exhausted owner. she says the e.r. vet wouldn't touch him and made her feel horrible, like he's a bad dog and she's a bad owner (not making a read on that vet, she was just feeling judged), and i just really really love being able to offer reassurance now that I'm at a place where reactive dogs don't scare me. i KNOW this dude is your baby at home ma'am, i will treat him as such. love seeing owners stop being embarrassed and start feeling relief.
#it's not that I'm not careful I'm just not scared. handling reactive dogs for 9 years with no bad bites.#SO FAR.... knock on wood#i enjoy it. unique client experience you only get with reactive dogs.#m2a#work stuff#so much of this comes from experience with Joanie having leash reactivity. reactive does not equal bad mean evil!!!!

PSA, keep your dog on a leash when you're in a public, unfenced area. dedicated to the lady that just tried to reassure me, "no she's nice! put your dog down! she's nice!" babe i believe you when you say your dog is nice. what you have not considered is that the dog I am holding is NOT nice and WILL attempt to attack your dog if I put him down. also we are RIGHT next to a busy road and there is Nothing stopping your dog from running into traffic. pls put her on a leash im literally begging you it is SO dangerous for her to not be on a leash here
#rye.txt#the dog I was walking is my grandma's dog and#for the first 10 years of his life#he was NEVER around other dogs or socialized with them#he is CRAZY reactive but it's never been a problem because I keep him on a short leash+harness so there's no chance of him#slipping out and charging at another dog#bUT THAT DOESNT HELP WHEN YOU ENCOUNTER A DOG THATS NOT ON A LEASH AND SPRINTS DIRECTLY AT YOU#im lucky he wears a harness for walks because I was able to just snatch him up directly with the leash#and then spent a solid two minutes dodging the excited dog with her owner going 'put your dog down! she's nice! put him down!'#trying to explain to this woman that I cannot in fact put him down because he WILL start a fight with your dog#it literally took several minutes before the woman realized I was saying 'yes your dog might be nice but MINE ISNT'#'NOW PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PUT HER ON A LEASH'#augh im so frustrated. like I get what she was saying. she was trying to diffuse the situation like#the dogs just need to get acquainted and then they'll play#but like. GIRL. you are at least in your mid 40s you should be old enough to be able to listen when people tell you that a situation is bad

look at hims dancy legs
#there was a very friendly border collie that he was feeling a bit worried about#a few weeks ago he turned a blind corner and rushed up to say hi to two cattle dogs#on leash#and they were not appreciative#one snapped at him and he screamed and ran back#and then was very weary and sad for the rest of the walk#the owners were very very sweet and also a little unaware that their dogs were being spicy lol#but they had every right to be angry that a giant red idiot sped round a corner and crashed into them#luckily they laughed it off#whereas i was a shaking mess and very ashamed of my child's behaviour#anyway i was like great here comes the fear reactivity towards other dogs#but thankfully it has dulled his enthusiasm without creating reactivity#he now cautiously assesses other dogs before greeting and honestly its much more pleasant#thank you scary cattle dog#it was miller checking in to make sure the red dog isn't a total flunk#sprig#dogs

So I'm getting married in a few weeks and we're taking both pups with us. I've been trying to get a hold of dog daycares for them so we could just have one day in the national parks nearby. Apparently no one feels comfortable with, or able to accommodate an intact dog. They are not willing to do separate play groups. Which I already feel =/ about. Like I don't really want them in playgroups anyways. Just somewhere to hang out, move around and potty while we are gone for a few hours. I've looked into every single (there are not a lot) person in the area and they all say no intact. Guess we won't hike and will just see the sights from the parking lots.
#grumble#Ryker is such an easy dog to handle as long as your not walking leashed past other dogs#even then he isn't barky reactive#just stares#he can handle playgroups too even though i don't do them much#I don't even want that just someone who will let him out to run around with Aayla for 15-20 minutes twice while we are gone for 4-5 hours.

An update on new yard for miss jellybean.... SHE LOVES IT 😭 she gets to sniff, run, and play in her private space without having to worry about mean reactive dogs from our old apartment 🥺 It's sooo nice to just sit outside while vibing and playing with her 😭
#personal#jellybean#Like i understand reactivity is v difficult to manage but damn#some of these owners dont even try to train or manage their dogs#they just run them around off leash while knowing they chase and lose their minds around other dogs. and PEOPLE sometimes#like my dog aint perfect either but i don't make that other folks' problem LOL#jellybean is technically reactive to people bc she loves them too much#but we dont just set her off unleashed to go bother people for pets and attention...#like. cmonnnn#ANYWAY#BEAN PHOTOS!!

thinking about mtt literally physically dragging eachother down and being restrained to eachother because theyre genuinely that fucking ass for eachother but then it means i'd have to decide which of them to humiliate by putting a collar on them. and i can't choose. if they dont all equally suffer than whats the point man 🙁🙁🙁
#i think they'd all have interesting reactions to it 2#like a permanent collar that cant be taken off. to make even more gruesome what if it were like built into the BONE????#or it could just be something less extreme like bone carvings. killer would absolutely do that shit#anyways i think horror would be the most reactive to it. anger is the most intriguing emotion#and also dog horror real. anyways he'd hate to be demeaned and disrespected like that. he has an ego and honor man and this is cutting it#dust drags him around constantly. killer pets him and disregards his boundaries. like a fucking DOG#because horror hates kist enough that he'd never let them get vulnerable enough. not that it stops killer LMAO#dust thinks some of horrors hatred towards them is a projection of his own self hatred (and hed lowkey be right)#loser. dust i think would be unique because to me he'd be a bit fine with it#i mean i think itd be hidden under paps scarf so it wouldn't be a constant reminder of horror n killer#but he lets the two hold the leash at least a bit. give him an eensy bit of touch and let a few insults slide#but the second he decides that even the smallest thing is enough he gets ticked off and then yk. someone has to put bunny back in his place#because dust is chill enough to let normal things in his eyes pass. he's not very reactionary or the type to immediately bite back#(since dust would just avoid horror and killer if he did meet them. means he has some sort of tolerance for them. keeping his peace fr)#but the moment hes reminded that god these two do suck and i shouldn't be letting this happen all of the held back anger comes out#killer would seek out the force and stuff. horror would treat him like shit because it makes himself feel good and killer look like an idio#dust doesn't even glance at him though and it pisses killer off. both of their actions do actually#like WTF DUST you guys literally put this on me. treat me like the piece of shit i know you think i am#but also STOP HORROR!!!! dont pull me around and demean me im not a pet i dont want to be treated that way even tho i say it do#yeah hes caught in a standstill. AND SO AM I do you see my issue. cannot pick one specific#all the trio would have such interesting reactions i cant just choose one to solely suffer......... anyways mttpoly am i right#should i tag this. like majority of the interesting stuff is in tags. but also i didnt post today i have a duty#dust sans#killer sans#horror sans#murder time trio#utmv#tricule rant#this just ended up being me thinking about mtt with collars. maaan what about handcuffs and chains and other restrictive things#having them have restraining relationship isnt enough i need them to PHYSICALLY RESTRAIN EACHOTHER

I have never really liked French bulldogs in general. They just never appealed to me. But me and Egon met a really friendly and absolutely beautiful and well built frenchie on our walk today and I gotta say after seeing one up close I understand the appeal now. I still don't want one, but I understand.
#most of the dogs in our neighborhood are super leash reactive so Egon doesnt make a lot of friends#but he loves other dogs so finding one friendly one is always a treat

So in one of your old posts you said Mia wears a child leash d
Mia running off while alcina pulls back on it basically closelinning Mia popped into my head
Mia makes a run for it while Alcina is talking to Miranda and it's just
YANKED
#this would be like... if their relationship was more like those ''Miss D and her Manthing'' comics but with mia#i think she would treat mia like a reactive dog#like the type of dog you always have to keep leashed when out with them and you're always warning people they're not friendly to other dogs#or people or whatever#miacina#my art#mia winters#i think that would be a great dynamic for them pff

what people don't talk about is how truly difficult it is to have a dog that you genuinely do love with every fiber of your being but who is not the dog you *wanted* and anyway give it up for everyone who got a dog with behavioral issues in their 20s that they weren't ready to handle 🤪🎉
#noah.txt#I'm feeling very emotional and also annoyed because a coworker I hate called Jack (jokingly?) 'the worst ever'#and anyway she's not the dog I wanted#she resource guards food/toys from other dogs (not me)#she's human anxious/fearful and has to be introduced to new ppl on muzzle with an emotional support dog#she's dog selective/aggressive#her big behavioral pro is that she's not reactive on leash and is neutral towards people & dogs in public

I thought we were rid of my nemesis but alas
Here they are
#for those new here#this person deliberately set all of her papillons at us off leash to set off Yo when she was reactive#wouldn’t call them back#said it was our fault she was this way#then bashed our breeder#then failed to be able to get her dogs back#while we were actively out with a trainer working on her reactivity#she is a local papillon breeder#and Yoshis breeder used to do papillons#so they’re competitors#so she just goes around talking shit and bashing every mas she sees now#every time I see her she deliberately tries to cause problems#the last time I passed her both sham and Yo with with me#she sent her dogs launching#both of mine were perfect focused heel#and hers were reactive as fuck#so long story short#she’s a bitch we hate her

Vet Appointment: Librela #3
Today is a bad health day. I had to skip this weeks Methotrexate injection for various reasons and I’m really feeling it. I’m in pain and so exhausted I went to the vet appointment in pajamas and Mandana did a medical alert as soon as I walked in. Shortly after that a reactive yellow lab slipped his collar in the lobby and accosted Mandana. We’ve been through this many times before and nearly 100% of the time I’m able to manage the situation so that I’m dealing with the dog and not Mandana but that wasn’t in the cards today.
I was so exhausted and already shaking before I even went inside. I had been hanging out in the parking lot for a bit so I saw the lab had excitement/reactivity. As soon as I walked in I put Mandana up on a bench for her safety until we could check in and the tech was literally coming to take us to a private room when the dog slipped it’s collar and charged us.
It happened in a split second. I knew the vet tech was right next to me and the owner was immediately aware of the dog getting loose so I focused on controlling Mandana’s head and pivoting myself between them. It wasn’t enough to keep them physically apart in the initial moment and for a few seconds before we pivoted Mandana had her head and paw on the dogs shoulder. I feel bad for making Mandana feel like she had no control/safety over her own body as I physically controlled her head in that moment and turned us away. It’s not usually how I would handle that kind of situation but I had very little energy to utilize and no idea if that lab would escalate things especially if I tried to intervene directly.
In Mandana’s defense she handled it really well. She didn’t growl, have her hackles up or anything like that. The only way it could have been better is if her body language was looser and she didn’t try to assert herself over the other dog but considering he charged her she had every right to create space & safety for herself. She literally recovered in 2 seconds and was immediately responsive to cues with a happy loose wag while the dog was still pulling and barking towards her. As soon as the lab was back on leash we walked to our exam room and I took this video bc I was impressed with her recovery from such an intense situation. (It’s a tight pant but the interaction JUST happened. She’s got a nice tail wag & body movement off camera and this is her expression for “excited but focused and ready to train/work”)
She immediately started to use her chin rest to volunteer for injections even with a new vet tech and in a room she’s never been in before. The vet tech was great and besides following Fear Free protocols it was clear she was also fluent in positive reinforcement training. We used the rest of the appointment to work on Mandana’s leash pulling from separation anxiety and despite the rough start to the visit we made a lot of progress. I stopped by Taco Bell on the way home and got her a cheese roll as a special reward for her awesome behavior. She’s a lot of dog but her personality makes it work 🫶
