As we heal from our trauma and begin practicing trust, little by little, that principle has guided me. Maybe in part because when people are facing their own storms they aren't focusing on me or us. I can quietly observe from nearby. In the beginning when we're so tender, being a bystander allows a sense of safety that interaction doesn't. So then I'd watch. What do they do with embarrassment? How do they handle their own mistakes? What's their reaction to loss or disappointment or that careless remark someone made to them at work? "Experiencing shame [or any other "dark" emotion] without deflecting, without projecting it onto others, and without closing one's heart, is a huge sign of emotional maturity and integrity." - @xavier.dagba Are we looking for perfect? Nacho is always near to me. He is very untrusting of humans. Looking at all the scars on his body, I don't have to tell you why. He is working on trusting and doing so well. Nach is a good kid, he really does want lots of love. He trusts me and for that I am thankful. He knows he is safe and is definitely my constant shadow. I don’t know about you, but something I struggle with is answers. I want answers, and I want them in my own time, on my own terms. I get frustrated when I feel like God isn’t listening. And sometimes I just struggle knowing what’s His voice, and what’s mine disguised by my own longing and desire to make something happen.⠀ ⠀ In this life, we’re faced with so many difficult things. And something I’ve seen so much in my own world, and in the worlds of those close to me is the struggle of whether to stay or leave – a job, a relationship, a tough environment, a place we’ve grown comfortable in. ⠀ ⠀ I can’t begin to have the answers or to make sense of the craziness, but what I do know is that God hears us. He listens to our prayers, He’s there, and He cares, even when it seems like He’s far away. ⠀ ⠀ I don’t know what you’re going through, but if you’re wrestling with indecision on whether you should stay or go, pray. Let Him hear your voice. Ask for guidance and strength. Ask for answers, on HIS time and HIS terms. And trust. Trust that He will reveal the truth to you in time because He always does. You’re going to be okay, you’re His child.
