Is it true that chainsaws were made to assist women during childbirth or is that just a rumor?
That's correct. The osteotome (replica shown above) - was created by Dr John âAitken and†Dr. James Jeffray in 1780 to perform a symphysiotomy - a procedure in which the pelvisâ of a†pregnant âwoman is sawed open âto allow for a†safer delivery of âthe baby. This early versionâ of the chainsaw was âhand-cranked and resembled a kitchen knife with teeth âattached to a âchain, which was operatedâ by a handle. This not only allowed surgeons to be able to cut through bone, but to make the procedure fast enough to save both mother and child. The chainsaw as we know it today didn't come until the 1900's when more hygienic practices were the norm and antibiotics were available. It was thanks to those developments that surgeons didn't need to work so quickly. It was at that point, the chainsaw became more widely used in things like logging.

I saw a little Youtube essay about the Scientology background of the new Linkin Park singer, and then there came that point when the Youtuber mentioned the theory that this singer's parents worked for the Office of Special Affairs, Scientology's intelligence agency.
Now. I don't have anything to say to the whole discussion around Linkin Park or Emily Armstrong, because I barely know their work and life. But. Regarding the OSA I currently have a very strong feeling of

Martyrs in particular are frequently shown with deadly devices, generally the instruments of their martyrdom. A curious subset of martyrs, however, are commonly shown carrying their own heads. Known as cephalophores, literally âhead-carriersâ in Greek, these headless saints all suffered martyrdom by decapitation. Thus, an original and perhaps the most famous cephalophore is Denis, patron saint of Paris, who, according to the Golden Legend, miraculously preached with his head in his hands while journeying the seven miles from Montmartre to his burying place.

Surgical lights don't cast shadows. Even if they're more, or even extremely more, expensive then why aren't they a commonly seen option for lights? I would love shadowless lights!

Definitely not me on a Saturday afternoon lying in bed struggling with existing
When a person with ADHD complains of severe anxiety, I recommend that the clinician not immediately accept the patientâs label for her emotional experience. A clinician should say, âTell me more about your baseless, apprehensive fear,â which is the definition of anxiety. More times than not, a person with ADHD hyperarousal will give a quizzical look and respond, âI never said I was afraid.â If the patient can drop the label long enough to describe what the feeling is like, a clinician will likely hear, âI am always tense; I canât relax enough to sit and watch a movie or TV program. I always feel like I have to go do something.â The patients are describing the inner experience of hyperactivity when it is not being expressed physically.
At the same time, people with ADHD also have fears that are based on real events in their lives. People with ADHD nervous systems are consistently inconsistent. The person is never sure that her abilities and intellect will show up when they are needed. Not being able to measure up at the job or at school, or in social circles is humiliating. It is understandable that people with ADHD live with persistent fear. These fears are real, so they do not indicate an anxiety disorder.
holy SHIT

guys over the last few days i've learned something new
you can be really platonically touchy with your friends!!!! (with your and their consent ofc)
i didn't know that so i was just a bad day (which are becoming more frequent but i'm working on it) and when we were alone, my friend just held me while i came to terms with something i learned a few days ago
as someone who loves touch (as long as it's from the right people) and who doesnt get that a lot this is a game changer

I was today's years old when I discovered that the word "drabble" means 100 words or less... Welp! Time to go and edit some posts. Thank goodness I found this out now and not later when I've eventually amassed like 20 posts or more haha...

DaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmmnnnnnnnnnâŠ. Props to them all!
This is frustrating.
I love the comparison, but I hate how they are comparing.
They are acting like she is using optics to give herself an advantage. But the device she is wearing is just for comfort and essentially does the same thing as closing one eye and squinting the other.
The little thing over the left eye is basically like an eye patch.
And the thing over her right eye is a mechanical iris, like in a camera lens, but it is NOT a lens.
Different lighting environments are going to be brighter or darker and you may have to squint more or less to let in the same amount of light into your eye. Squinting allows the shooter to get the sharpest possible vision in order to shoot a bullseye the size of a 12-point Times New Roman period.
But if you have to squint for hours for practice and in competition, this can strain your face muscles and become uncomfortable. So this iris basically squints for you.
It's more like wearing comfortable shoes so your feet do not hurt than a lens magnifying the target and giving an advantage.
Both athletes have access to these items. One felt more comfortable without them. The other didn't feel like getting a muscle cramp from squinting all day.
Either would have shot the same if they had or had not used these devices.
Just a funny difference in gear preference.
I should also add, the Turkish dad is the only one using lenses.

Oooh dip this is actually so interesting?! Cause like that is such a fresh perspective. Like you donât have to if you donât want to but you can want to for reasons that arenât âinterestâ.
I dislike how clumsy it is to share Twitter threads but here is a portion from a guy I follow (for his trans porn and monster fucking content at that) echoing a sentiment that aces, traumatized people, people with low libido, etc. can fully relate to. The rest is here and itâs absolutely worth the read.
