LawLu Nation If You Are Still publishing on FFN read this:
Okay I am not a person who calls out or likes pointing fingers. But I received this an hour back on a fic published on Fanfiction dot net recently which is clearly marked “M”.
As far as I remember MA tag was long removed from ffn years back when the great purged happened. And I have been active on ffn for more than a decade now.
In all fairness, I was going to ignore this, but these words irked me a lot: "Please note FanFiction does not accept explicit content, Fiction Rating: MA, and the rating is only presented for reference.”
What is this behaviour? Why are you commenting on a fic that’s not even that explicit?
Barging into a fandom you don’t belong to, and typing something so confidently as if you hold authority is extremely entitled and nosy behaviour. We fic writers are hounded day and right for things we enjoy to write because a quarter of you have no basic understanding of “don’t like it, don’t interact with it.” It seems you all fancops make it personal mission to bother people who literally have nothing to do with you or don’t care about your existence.
STOP THIS BEHAVIOUR.
Everything said here is nothing but written on fumes. So if you are a fic writer like me, who is still writing mature fics on ffn and marking the stories properly. Please do yourself a favour and block these two accounts and save yourself from headaches called fancop.
your alttp link and zelda art scratches my brain in such a way ill never get over
I'M SO HAPPY TO HEAR THAT !!!! that's the exact thing they're doing to me too so it's so exciting if it's not just me !! and like if I could put some of those little brain demons into art...
I like to think Zelda doesn't smile all that much like she's just kinda stiff and awkward but then when she does smile it's goofy big smile...
vaggie, miss "im not used to fighting with long hair" who's out of practice actually battling someone or really stabbing ppl...
...still had the arm and hand strength, the REFLEXES, to do a bare handed blade catch on a SWORD, who's user had been doing an aerial dive with it aimed at vaggie's FACE
then sling around and THROW her opponent with it
i know she wants a peaceful-ish life with charlie, but i really wouldn't mind seeing her getting into just a FEW more fights >:D
also also side note:
carmilla was able to eff her up earlier so easily bc vaggie fought like an exorcist, no thought to getting hurt or personal defense, the headspace of 'i can't get killed! wheee! DIE DIE DIE' that got that other exorcist killed
and the main advice vaggie got from carmilla was take advantage of that sure, but first and more importantly, defend yourself better
which kinda plays into the whole "be out for love thing" too
aka the fight isn't important, it's what you're fighting to still have Afterwards that matters- the people you love, having a life with them
(the hotel, the hazbins, charlie)
carmilla doesn't send vaggie off with a 'you're ready to go kill angels'. she's only satisfied and ends their little lesson / sparring match when she can say "you might just survive this"
feels like she wasn't teaching vaggie to take out angels. she was reminding her and showing her how NOT to get KILLED
so it's just so nice seeing vaggie blocking, dodging, and grappling lute later. how good she is at focusing on avoiding or neutralizing those attacks aimed at her. how Seriously she takes them
binding lute's both lute's arms and wedging them into her own body so lute's sword CAN'T be angled towards her
the way this shot emphasis's the THREAT of the sword hanging over vaggie
and how her flash-fast recovery and block shows she's READY for it
dodging, not attacking
she's not in this for blood or vengeance, this lady is trying to stay the fuck alive. she's got things and people to live for
things like the idea of mercy. that thing both her and charlie show their enemies, people who came down to hell for murder and spent this fight trying to kill them and got damn close to doing it.
and sure there's a pretty big tone difference between charlie's "Whoa whoa dad. He's had enough" and vaggie's "No, live. Live knowing that you only do because I let you" but both end at the same place, with someone who hates them still getting a second chance
(UNLESS ITS NIFFTY WITH THE ANGELIC BLAAADE)
and vaggie wants that second chance too. she wants a life with charlie, and fights hard so she can stick around for it
epic fail, lute... have you considered getting a hobby...?
okay, so in a rare moment for me, there's a discourse thing i want to bring up, and that thing is. okay. so on iskall's stream there's this thing that can happen where someone brings up a criticism of his content or vault hunters. frequently it's self-evidently wrong, but sometimes it's not. and then iskall spends the next thirty minutes shadowboxing this guy, explaining himself, and completely derailed. and this is an iskall trait we all know and sigh bemusedly about, because he cares about the community and wants people to understand his intentions! he wants the community to understand his decisions!
however, it's not the community as a whole he's fighting; he is in fact, arguing with One Guy, who often doesn't represent the wider community, and who normally won't have their mind changed. hell, sometimes it's believable that they're satisfied having just managed to upset iskall, and they'll leave, no change to their mind, perfectly pleased that iskall's responding at all (that's what i firmly believe the people who poke at the 'you don't upload enough and that means you're falling off and a bad person' wound are trying to do, at least).
in the vault hunters community, we refer to this as iskall getting One Guyed, and it's typically viewed as bad, because it ends up focusing an entire moment on a single guy's negative opinion as opposed to on the larger picture. and it's an understandable thing to have happen! but it's frustrating to watch from the outside.
and so now i am looking at that cat poll. and the way everyone is still shadowboxing someone who has since apologized. and the way i would have never ever known about any of the negative comments about jellie if it weren't for fellow mcyt fans constantly putting them on my dash to dunk on them. and it's like. if you look through the notes most of them are just... normal? it's only a tiny few of people (and the pollrunner, who has since apologized) who were being dicks. it's a very, very ignorable demographic.
but. well. there was One Guy. and we had to correct them.
and folks, i don't know how to say that i almost never see "lol mcyt is cringe" type comments unless one of you puts it on my dash. both because i don't go looking through the notes of things that are likely to have them or go looking for reasons to be upset and because it's just... not that common! very frequently these days it is, in fact, One Guy!
i have almost never seen that poll on my dash without at least one instance of the One Guy. instead of being for fun, it's mostly become about explaining ourselves to someone who will not listen and will not change their minds, and treating this as a the whole of the Other Side of that poll, when most people are being... fine. they're fine! the majority of the people voting for the other side are doing it for perfectly normal reasons that don't require fighting about.
and man. let me tell you. after spending as long as i have watching vault hunters development? it can be just as frustrating to watch a fandom get One Guyed as it is to watch iskall.
Antis are annoying and mean, I know, but as Proshippers we should just block and ignore. A lot of y'all give too much attention to somebody who has like 3 likes on an anti-[ship] post. Unless an anti is doxxing, they should just be ignored. An anti threatening violence and other acts is horrible, yes, but unless they can act on it irl, I doubt it's worth responding to. My proship tl is filled with negativity all the time. We have GOT to focus on the positive.
"MLP infected AUs are cringe/boring, we've all seen scary ponies before, where the whimsy???"
You fools. Zombie AUs are about having fun making freaky designs and building upon character dynamics by putting them in a high-stress setting.
Like. My brother in Christ we're all "cringe" by definition of being in a fandom surrounding small marketable plastic horses. Take your prep attitude back to school, bury it in the ground where it belongs with a hatchet, then come back when you can let people have fun in peace.
A what-if scenario of if Hilda got a Marra after the Mountain King...
OKAY. So this is an awful, half-finished thing I made January last year but hear me out! some parts are good, and 2023 me apparently spent 3 days on it!! so i wanted to at the very least compile all the frames and post it! because i am proud of it.
Anyways, frames im proud of under the cut-
These two have such a great emotion behind them, I'm extremely happy with the way they came out, even if half-finished
THIS!! THIS SEQUENCE!!! This was the whole reason I wanted to make this animatic, I sketched this before anything else and I'm obsessed with how it came out (Even if janky perspective) Drawing the time worm move was hypnotizing.
With the big news regarding UTMV I want to take a moment to say something.
Fandom is suposed to be a place where you have fun. It is playing wiht fictional characters like they are dolls.
It is fine. It is harmless.
People may not agree with your views/headcanons/or ships and that is fine. As long as everyone is nice to each other and remain chill.
Remember. We are playing with dolls. The dolls don't have any feelings and what you like in art/fiction does not reflect in real life. (because if it did a LOT of action/horror/thriller movies would be forbidden. remember that.)
Now. What to do if someone is mean?
You get anon hate?
Turn off anons. Just turn it off.
"but OP! How will others interact then?"
They make an account. Look. It is NOT your resposibility to cater to others or to make content for them. Fandom is a community. We have fun together. We relax together. We interact and talk together. We aren't making content. we are trying to have fun together!
As soon as someone is being rude/mean/entitled? You report them. After that? You block them and keep yourself safe.
Don't. Feed. The. Troll.
Don't. Feed. The. Hater.
They WANT attention. Nothing you say will get through to them. They will see it as winning because you gave them attention and that is all they want.
It isn't rude to block someone. It is how you keep your online enviroment happy and hate free. It is one of the ways to protect yourself online.
Report the trolls and haters and then Block the Trolls and Haters.
Don't interact with them directly.
Interact with the people who see the fandom for what it is.
A place where we enjoy making things that make us happy and are happy to interact. Let people make what they make and let people play with the dolls they way they like. Keep in mind no character has true feelings and so they can not be hurt. Mind your tags and mind your own space.
It is your own responsibility to keep your fandom experience nice.
Don't engage with tags you don't like but don't spread hate. You can always block tags and put a filter to not see them.
Don't interact with haters or trolls and just block those.
Don't expect others to always agree with what you think or your headcanons. Everyone has a different view on the characters and that is fine.
"online spaces seem to define lesbianism as a hatred for men rather than a love for women" fuck yeah man and it's so fucking tiring. Isn't bioessentialism exhausting-
"so it really annoys me when people can't separate men from lesbians entirely. Like if I see another 'this male character is a he/him lesbian' post I'm gonna kms" oh! Ok you're insane.
