real cmd thesis is that he's a weird and awkward but ultimately likable and well-meaning guy who just so happens to be in the excruciating position of publically wanting something really really badly and not having gotten it yet
#there is tragedy in this of course.#also as an annoying leafs fan i reserve the right to make as many cmd to the leafs jokes as i want#but anyway. yeah#connor mcdavid

Always had a gripe with people who don't draw Daleth, the elder with a shattered mask and no visible eyes under it, without scars but draw Tsadi, the elder who has a completely intact mask and seemingly fine face under it, with scars. Like bestie. where is the logic
#im joking but also not really#leaf flower rambles#sky cotl#text post#slight rant#but it also falls under how people tend to exlude Daketh from beung 'apart of the group'#because they arent acknowledging his existence thoroughly enough to even consider what he would actually probably look like#sigh. yet another day of being a Daleth fan :'(

Hey, I’m obsessed with your Canadian undertale. Big upps for Canada.
I’ve seen it said theorized before, and I lowkey think that moun’t ebbot is on our side of the Rockies!! Canadian sans isn’t that far fetched of a theory!!
Sans undertale would love bunny hugs and touques - you just know he’s seen letter kenny, too.
I didn’t know I needed hockyplayer papyrus in my life, but now that I’ve seen it I love it. I think paps would have one hell of a culture shock once he learns what puck bunnies are - HAHAHAHA
for some reason I could see him really getting down with curling too? Maybe it’s just because he’s super tall and gangly. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Lmao thanks! Honestly yeah I think it would make sense for Ebott to be here too :)
Yes I was gonna give sans a toque in the og drawing, but he looked too similar to pap's silhouette so I changed it to the hat he has now. But just know that he owns a matching toque set with his brother! And yeah he's definitely seen every season of letterkenny
Yeah hockey player pap is probably my favourite part of this madness, it just fits so well. I can picture his bossfight in my mind so clearly. I think he already knows what puck bunnies are, since this au isn't so much "they surface in to canada" as it is "the underground IS like canada". Snowdin surely already has a few puck bunnies lol. Literally!
I was thinking of making Undyne a curler actually! Which, in turn, would mean she's teaching Papyrus to curl too I suppose? Either that or she's a hockey player too, I haven't decided yet lol. Lacrosse also!
Thanks for the ask about my silly sort of au!
#asks#g-martin#i need a tag for this nonsense#canucktale#ok i'm locking in for that as the name#anyway yeah like I said in the tags of the og post my friends and I came up with a ton of silly ideas for this#like toriel being a leafs fan and you goad her in to fighting you by saying go habs go#or instead of a hotdog stand sans sells beaver tails#we also joked that he's from ottawa and sells shwarma#at one point we joked that the underground is just the toronto PATH and the monsters aren't stuck there they just don't know how to get out

thank you for sharing the positives to being a leafs fan because it gets exhausting watching the entirety of the hockey world stomp over a team that is dealt with the shorter end of the stick. your content makes me still hold onto faith for a team that isn’t loved.
my question is: do you believe that the leafs hate he justified as much especially in comparison to other teams in the league?
the thing about the leafs is that they have one of the biggest and widest reaching fanbases in the sport (if you go to any games on the road, you'll immediately know what i'm talking about... every arenas like half full of em), but it feels sort of like a love them or hate them in the nhl itself bc of the amount of rivalries and history. that's not even taking into account their surface meme-ability in modern day for being unable to get deep into the playoffs. at least we no longer have to hear a deluge of first round jokes tbh.
i honestly don't think anyone holds as much contempt for the leafs as much as a certain section of their own fanbase so i've never viewed it as a leafs vs everyone else thing, though it definitely is that too lol. i ALSO hate a portion of this fanbase more than i hate any other team or its fans tbh bc of the way they talk about their own damn players. might as well cease to call yourself a fan at a certain point imo regardless of the fact that you grew up with the team or whatever. i don't actually think the leafs are like. targeted or everyone hates them the most (all original 6 teams take a fair bit of heat tbh), but their fans online are the reason a lot of like goofy polls and stuff always read as the leafs being the most annoying/biased/delusional group. it's hard to disagree in some ways. i guess i don't put myself in a position to see a lot of leafs hate in general? i don't follow people who hate them or interact with people who hate them beyond finding ppl in this fanbase who have such nasty things to say, lol, so that colors my perception but. for as much hate as you might see, the leafs are definitely one of if not the most loved team too. center of the hockey world, it's true it's true. you gotta take the hate with the love, but i also think a big part of hockey/sport culture is just chirping and insults in general so fkljdsl. being able to parse what's actual hate and just jokes is also important.
#easks#i do think toronto fans can get too big for their britches when they talk abt the sport in general and who it 'belongs' to#and who ~deserves~ certain things lmfao#if u love hockey.. the point of it should be to grow the game so more ppl can love it too.. not hoard it or#try to claim it only belongs to one place. its very silly#and i mostly see canadians doing that dumb shit so i think flkjsdfnh being an american who got into hockey and wasnt inundated#w sports culture from birth has colored the way i view this sport and team and how its talked about#joking around is one thing but i genuinely think the deep seated superiority complex from some ppl needs to die and is ugly#anyway. not a straightforward answer#i love the leafs and leafs fans ive found online and id prob love a lot of the normal fans in toronto itself but#the hardcore men who have been following this sport so long and taint it everywhere including online are the worst#hard not to see why theyre hated !! fjkdslj but i dont take the toronto hate as a personal slight to me bc#there are worse tor fans out there and they deserve to be shit on#not me tho. u stay safe-- FKLDSJFKLS im just here to love the guys and love watching hockey and chill

Reading the comments on this post and you know what? Tommy does have a podcast!
It's called Getting Rom-Commy with Tommy and he breaks down the history, plots, tropes, and cliches made famous by romantic comedies. He recorded the first episode—Tillie's Punctured Romance, the first feature film in the genre—in 2020 during the early days of the pandemic, and has since gained a small but loyal following who love his deep dives, quirky sense of humor, and the random breadcrumbs about his own life that he drops occasionally.
For three and a half years, he's posted an episode every other Thursday without fail, so it's the talk of r/romcommytommy when the promised episode about A New Leaf doesn't materialize. They worry about Tommy being sick or dead—or worse: growing bored with the subject matter—and flood his podcast inbox with well wishes and pleas to continue the series.
Finally, the episode goes up the following Thursday, and he prefaces it by apologizing for the delay. He had gotten tangled up in a work thing and had spent the previous week dealing with the fallout (i.e.: paperwork), but he's in high spirits because he isn't in federal prison and has reconnected with old friends. And made some new ones! Which has nothing to do with Walter Matthau's performance, which in Tommy's opinion is one of his best, and he jumps right into the movie and says no more about what kept him away.
After that, for months, the series takes on a different tone—more buoyant, almost bewilderingly cheerful—and it elevates what was already a great program to something that truly has a happy ending every time. More people start listening. The subreddit hits 10k members, and speculation about what's causing Tommy's audible joy runs rampant, with most agreeing it's because he has someone special in his life.
Then, the 103rd episode goes live. It's an unflinching look at the movie Blue Valentine, which is very much not a romantic comedy, and for the entire episode Tommy vacillates between sounding dead inside and on the verge of tears. "It's just another example of how even the most passionate relationship will erode over time," he murmurs. The episode ends without its usual jaunty outro.
It becomes clear over the next several weeks that something devastating has happened, because Tommy has ditched his beloved rom-coms for the most depressing movies ever made. The subject of the top trending post on the subreddit for a month is 'If I ever listen to the Closer episode again I will need the following: a gun.'
His listeners debate whether or not to jump ship, but the film analyses are still really good. Plus, it feels like abandoning a friend in their time of need.
I don't know if you will ever see this, Tommy, but I think I speak for everyone when I say: we love you, we're here for you, we're not going anywhere, but for the love of GOD please go to therapy, u/marshedmellowout comments on the post for the In The Mood For Love episode.
No one's quite sure if u/marshedmellowout got through to him, but it feels like a turning point when the subject of the next episode is Desert Hearts. Tommy spends almost half the episode runtime analyzing the film's hopeful ending, and even cracks a couple of jokes. While his voice doesn't have that incandescent happiness from before, it's much lighter.
The next few episodes continue that slow, upward trend, and the movies Tommy deconstructs go from having hopeful endings to happy ones. He's back to making terrible puns and laughing at his own jokes, and everyone on the subreddit breathes a collective sigh of relief. He's going to be okay.
None of his listeners are prepared for how he starts the 118th episode.
"You're all in for a treat today, because I'm joined by a very special guest. He's not a big fan of movies, usually, but he's got a mind made for analysis, so making him watch Groundhog Day was kind of a no-brainer. I've been dying to hear him pick this one apart. Evan, say hi."
The joy from all those months ago is clear and present in Tommy's voice, but it's tempered with something new: certainty.
"H-Hi, everyone," Evan says, bashful and a little giggly. "Sorry, I've never done something like this before."
"You literally had a walk-on role in the country's most watched TV show. 22 million people tuned in that night, and that's not including the streaming numbers."
"That was different! I had one line. Plus, I didn't care about making Brad look dumb."
"Brad didn't need your help with that," Tommy says, audibly besotted. "Evan, you can't possibly make me look dumb. They can't see me."
Groaning through laughter, Evan gasps, "Oh my god, I said you get five stupid jokes and you just wasted one. Better make the next four count."
"I'll do my best," Tommy says. "So, overall, what did you think of the movie?"
It's the most listened to episode of the entire podcast, and u/cadburybunnyeggs's post 'Evan needs to be a permanent host and here's why' makes the front page of Reddit.
(A year later, the Four Weddings and a Funeral episode, which goes live two days before Tommy and Evan get married, is nominated for a Webby Award. What happens afterwards in the subreddit breaks containment and winds up in the New York Times.)

pairing: connor bedard x fem!reader
summary: when an incident between y/n and a player on the toronto maple leafs brings her and connor closer together.
warnings: use of y/n, she/her pronouns, mentions of cuts, blood and injuries, kissing, swearing, petnames used (hun, baby, babe), kind of heated makeout
a/n: ofc i had to include my fav hockey team in a connor fic its just who i am (also hockey era incoming)
masterlist ! | requests are open

people always say you can be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
y/n l/n however didn't think the phrase would be relevant to her in the middle of the second period against the toronto maple leafs.
tonight marks the 100th nhl game for y/n. her and her teammate, connor bedard, were both drafted into the team going into the 2023 season, making this their sophomore years in the nhl.
the two teenagers immediately became close due to their birthdays being only two days apart in the same year.
it was more of a running joke (maybe a superstition) for the hawks in which every time connor scored a goal, y/n scored one quickly after.
which explains why y/n is more than determined to get the puck between the goalie of the toronto maple leafs, twenty seconds after connor scored a goal to tie the game.
after trying to hit the puck in again after a rebound, a player from the leafs hit it away from their own goal. in the small bit of commotion to follow the puck, a second leafs player fell onto the ice, with his skates up in the air as he fell into an odd position.
unbeknownst to the leafs captain as he went around the net, he bumped into y/n, not hard, but definitely enough to push her forward.
now y/n finally understood what people meant when they said wrong place wrong time.
just as y/n was falling forwards, the leafs player that was on the ground, his skate moved.
the only thing y/n felt was something cold against her face, followed by something warm and wet, and it caused her so much pain.
she immediately flinched, both from the feeling on her cheek and from finally hitting the ground after getting pushed. the game around her kept moving as she reached a gloved hand up to her face, panicking slightly when the white on her hand was now red when she pulled it away from her skin.
the closes referee noticed the girl on the floor and quickly blew his whistle.
within the mere seconds of the injury, blood was quickly making its way down y/n's cheek and neck, and onto her jersey and the ice.
fans began booing the player who cut her, while others were quiet and concerned about the blackhawks player.
y/n wasn't sure when she began to cry, but as soon as connor, and another teammate came up to her to help her, her tears weren't stopping any time soon.
the blackhawks coach was quick to meet y/n at the boards, sending her off to the medic room.
"can i go with her?" the question from connor certainly caught everyone off gaurd. he's never wanted to go with any other player if they got sent to the medic, so why did he want to go with y/n?
"please?" y/n asks, only wanting connor by her side, as she hold her glove to her cut, trying her best to stop the bleeding.
the coach sends both players off, definitely not happy now missing two critical team players.
y/n and connor faintly hear the whistle blow as they make it down the hall to the medic room.
"jeez, what happened here?" the doctor asked, frowning at the sight of y/n in front of her.
y/n was about to answer, only to find out it hurt for her to talk, making tears run down her cheeks once more.
connor was quick to speak up, "a leafs player's blade cut her, not sure how bad it is though."
the doctor nods, "can you move your glove hun?"
y/n does as asked, and the doctor slightly gasps at the cut and now blood stained cheek.
connor moves to take a look as well, and simply grabs onto y/n's hand in comfort. the girl can't deny the blush she feels creeping up to her cheeks.
while the doctor instructs y/n to sit, connor takes both of their gloves and helmets and sets them down on an empty chair.
the doctor walks y/n through the cleaning process, causing y/n to wince and reach out for connor's hand whenever some cold touched her wound.
"it is a mild cut, so it's going to need a few stitches."
y/n only nods, realizing how much energy has finally been taken out of her. all she wanted to do now was go to her apartment and sleep for the next twenty-four hours.
connor however stayed by her side the whole time, repeating comforting words whenever he noticed her eyes squeeze shut in discomfort, or when her hand tightened around his.
"we're almost done, just one more okay?"
the doctor is as quick as possible to finish her work, before handing an ice pack to y/n, who gladly holds it on her now slightly swollen face.
"the stitches can come out in one week if they don't fall out on their own, and i wouldn't reccomend talking for the next few hours. i would also advise to miss as many hockey games as you can. just so your wound can properly heal, and you won't be irritating it by yelling and all the other hockey stuff, yeah?"
y/n slightly chuckles at the doctor's last words, and connor thanks her before grabbing their things and walking with y/n back to their locker rooms.
connor looked at the small tv in the hallway, noticing the third period had started, meaning the two had a few more moments of privacy before the whole team would come barging in.
connor sits beside y/n on one of the benches, and smiles as she leans her head against his shoulder.
"how are you feeling?"
y/n simply shrugs.
"that bad, huh?"
"i just want to go home," she mumbles out, her words slurred together from the ice pack squishing her cheek and due to the pain.
"did you drive here?"
y/n shakes her head, now feeling stupid for asking a friend to drive her to their home stadium.
"i can drive you home, if you want," connor offers.
y/n nods as fast as she can, making connor chuckle again. he suggests they should finally change out of their sweaty jerseys and protective pads, making y/n get up and go to the very smaller locker room, specifically made for her, right next door.
they were both quick to change, both meeting in the hallway wearing sweatpants and hoodies.
"wait, won't coach mind we're gone?" y/n mumbles, just as connor's grabbing her bag off her shoulder.
he shakes his head, "no way. you got injured, the last thing you want to do is celebrate or do post game interviews. and i can just text one of the guys and tell him i took you home."
y/n nods as the two begin leaving the stadium. they get to connor's car fairly quickly, and y/n doesn't even have to tell connor the way to her apartment, since he's been at least once a week since they became friends.
"does it still hurt?" connor asks as he finally turns onto the street where y/n's apartment complex is.
"not as bad. the ice is definitely helping."
"that's good to hear."
connor and y/n make their way up the steps to y/n's apartment, still with connor carrying her bad for her. she fishes her keys out of the side pocket and lets them inside.
"why don't you go change into some pjs and i can throw on a movie?"
y/n gasps, "yes please."
connor laughs at her excitement before walking towards the couch, "i'll be out here."
⋆ ˚ 。 ⋆ ୨୧ ˚
about an hour into the movie y/n had ended up picking for them to watch, connor felt a thump on his shoulder.
he turned, being met with y/n's head now resting on his shoulder. her eyes were closed and her breathing was even. he could only describe her as peaceful.
connor simply turned the movie off, knowing y/n would have a fit if he watched the rest without her.
as best as he could, he shuffled out from beside her and tried grabbing her to bring her to her bed, knowing she'd be more comfortable there. however she stirs when he tries picking her up again.
"what?" she mumbles tiredly.
connor chuckles, "i'm just trying to move you to your bed. you fell asleep against me."
"oh, okay," y/n relaxes again, making connor reach for her again, and successfully pick her up in his arms.
he carefully brings her down the hallway towards her room and sets her on the bed. as be leaves to grab a glass of water and pain medicine he knows she'll need in the morning, she works on getting herself comfortable.
"do you want me to spend the night? just in case you need anything?" he asks before shutting the door to let the girl sleep.
"can you stay?"
connor can't not stay at the sound her voice. he nods as a response, before shutting the door quietly. he makes his space for the night on the couch as comfortable as possible, grabbing the throw blanket on the end and piling the two pillows up as one.
⋆ ˚ 。 ⋆ ୨୧ ˚
when y/n woke up the next morning, she knew one thing. her face hurt.
it hurt to swallow, it hurt to move her face, it hurt to drink water. everything simply hurt.
she couldn't imagine how much it would hurt to talk, let alone yell for connor. so she didn't even try.
she got up, completed her morning routine (minus brushing her teeth, she only guessed it would hurt), and walked slowly towards the living room and kitchen.
she turned and was surprised at the sight of connor cooking. his back was towards her, and the sound and smell of bacon cooking on the stove in front of her welcomed her into the kitchen.
she walked around him so her non-injured cheek was now resting against his shoulder.
"well hello sleepyhead," he jokes, making y/n notice it was almost eleven in the morning.
"does your cheek still hurt?"
y/n only nods, once again not daring to speak.
"after you eat something will you let me clean it again? i know it's gonna hurt but that's what the doctor said to do," connor reminds her, earning a groan out of her, making connor laugh.
"i promise i'll be gentle," he affirms while placing three strips of bacon onto two plates.
as he brought them over to the living room, y/n followed.
a few minutes passed and y/n didn't touch a single piece of bacon.
"are you not hungry?" connor asks.
y/n nods, her stomach has been rumbling since the moment she woke up.
"does it hurt to much to eat?"
y/n nods again, looking down at the plate in her lap in defeat.
"oh baby," connor pouts, as the pet name just slips past his lips. "can i clean you up first then? maybe some pain killers can help too?"
y/n nods again, grabbing connor's hand as he offers to help her up off the couch and towards the bathroom.
y/n sits patiently on the closed toilet seat as connor tries gathering as many first aid supplies as he can. once he's satisfied with his haul, he begins cleaning the girl's cheek to the best of his abilities. he was careful when taking off the bandage and wiping around the area, and let y/n hold his hand if needed.
after cleaning it, he took a warm washcloth to the skin. y/n sighed in comfort, feeling more comfortable than she's ever felt in the past twenty four hours.
"does that help?"
"mhm," she replies, her eyes closing in bliss.
connor wets the washcloth again, making sure the water isn't too hot, and brings it back to her cheek. connor is now kneeling in front of her, with her hand resting against his cheek.
the two however don't break eye contact this time, but this doesn't make the moment uncomfortable.
subconsciously connor begins rubbing his thumb over the material of the washcloth, not knowing the butterflies it was causing in y/n's stomach.
"connor," it's the first word y/n has said the entire morning, and it makes connor's heart flip.
"yeah?"
"why have you been so nice to me?"
connor takes a minute before answering, trying to internally find the right words to share.
"i just need to make sure you're okay," he was satisfied with his own answer, but y/n wasn't.
"but no other player would've done all this for me," y/n defends, talking more now that her cheek isn't hurting as much.
"well yeah, i mean we're best friends. i have to help you. i want to help you."
a minute of silence passes, as connor watches y/n's eyes flicker between his own.
he removes the washcloth from her face, only to wet it again and bring it back to her skin.
as y/n continued to stare at connor, only one thought consumed her mind. it was now or never as she let her lips move faster than her brain could stop them.
"do you ever think we're more than best friends?"
the question catches connor off gaurd. but before he can even think of a response, y/n's lips once again move faster than her liking.
"'cause i want to be more than your best friend."
y/n isn't sure where this newfound confidence is coming from, and she only swears at herself when she realize connor still hasn't answered. the last thing she ever wanted to do was make anything awkward between them, and now she's sure he's going to be walking out of—
connor's lips were on hers.
the washcloth was still pressed against her face, connor's other hand was now resting on her upper thigh, and his soft lips were on hers.
y/n's eyes were wide as he began to pull away. however she didn't want the feeling to ever end, causing her to grab his face in both of her hands and pull him to her again.
connor dropped the washcloth, making both of his hands now holding onto her thighs.
their lips were molding against one another, yet clashing to fight dominance at the same time. it was a kiss filled with many emotions. so many emotions that have been pushed down or to the side the past year, that needed to be opened.
y/n's hands moved to connor's hair, pulling slightly at the strands causing him to moan against her lips.
tongues soon started fighting, making the two more and more out of breath.
as the began pulling away, their panted breaths mingled between them as their flushed faces were only inches apart.
"i've liked you the second i saw you in that blackhawks meeting," y/n admitted, remembering the time she first saw connor after they were chosen as the 2023 rookies.
connor chuckles as his hands comfortingly rub up and down y/n's thighs, "i've liked you since the draft babe."
he simply leans in to kiss her again, but y/n hesitates.
"as much as i love kissing you, and would do anything to do it again, can you finish cleaning my cheek first?" she asks sweetly.
"oh shit, yeah, i'm sorry," connor is quick to start finishing his first aid job.
as soon as he completes taping the new gauze pad over the skin, y/n pulls him down to her by the collar of his hoodie, giggling at his surprised yet turned on moan against her lips.

WHAT IF!! | Damian finds a fish with a veeery strange face?
Synopsis; He finds a strange fish that not only steals his attention but also seems to be changing shape. Between obsessively caring for it and keeping his cat from eating it, something weird is happening: the fish is becoming... more human. A miracle or just an aquatic disaster? Damian doesn’t know what to think, but surely nothing will be the same after this.
Pairing ── Damian Wayne x Ponyo! Reader. (Platonic)
Content. MDNI ── Fluff, transformation, fight, mild violence?, supernatural elements, emotional conflict, character growth, ambiguity, mild suspense, fantastical creatures.
A/N ── English is not my first language—Spanish— Ugh, we’re finally starting to upload all the delayed requests. This one is special because, well, some friends specifically asked for it, and it kicks off the "What If!" section, where you can send me any silly situation or whatever you want.
Damian had never been a fan of comedic situations or casual affection. He had grown up surrounded by discipline, struggle, and duty, where everything that wasn’t a mission or a cause seemed unnecessary. Spontaneity and tenderness made him uncomfortable, as if they were territories he didn’t know and avoided with caution. But here he was, on a remote beach, trying to escape the feeling that something in his life was changing. Perhaps the peace of the sand beneath his feet or the sun barely touching his face made him feel vulnerable, something he had never allowed.
It was then that he saw her: a strange, glowing fish that emerged from the water with almost magical grace, as if it were a creature from a dream. Something about its appearance, with its peculiar shape and vibrant colors.
Damian, in an impulse as unexpected as it was baffling, grabbed the bucket that Cassandra and Stephenie had left forgotten by the shore. He lifted it quickly, without thinking, and caught the fish with the same precision with which he usually caught his enemies. There was no logical reason, no plan. He simply did it, as if, for once, the same curiosity that had made him take Goliath years ago was now driving him to do the same with this creature.
When he got home, the fish was still in the bucket, hopping slightly, as if it had no idea of the bewilderment it was causing in the boy who had, in some way, learned to treat the strangest animals as if they were normal. And though he couldn’t admit it, part of him felt a strange satisfaction.
Damian didn’t usually allow anything or anyone to interrupt his concentration, but something about this fish kept him in a constant state of alertness. He spent hours watching it in the fish tank he had placed in his room, studying every movement, every bubble it made while swimming. It wasn’t just curiosity. There was something else, something he couldn’t fully identify, but it felt like a small spark of something he had never allowed to ignite inside him.
At first, he watched it from a safe distance, not interacting too much, as if observing it silently was enough. But soon, the need to take care of it, to protect it from any possible threat, began to infiltrate his daily routine.
Every morning, he made sure its water was fresh, renewed, and free of impurities. His mother had taught him how to take care of little creatures, but he had never paid so much attention to the details as he did with this fish. The water had to be at the perfect temperature, neither too hot nor too cold, and the plants in the tank had to be kept clean, with no algae that could disturb its tiny ecosystem. If any leaf fell or something disrupted its balance, Damian would fix it immediately, as if the life of the fish depended on his intervention.
The others didn’t understand, of course. Drake and Duke, for example, would come over with mischievous smiles, bringing pieces of ham as if it were a harmless joke. He often found them crouched down, trying to give the creature a snack, and his patience would overflow. “What are you doing?” he’d ask with a calmness that barely hid his irritation. “Don’t give it ham. It’s not food for her.” And although his words were sharp, no one could deny the protective tone in his voice. The worst part was that his fish happily accepted the ham!
Sometimes, when they tried something new, like moving the tank to see how the fish would react, Damian couldn’t help but frown. No matter how ridiculous it seemed to others, in his mind, that creature deserved respect. And most of all, it deserved to be safe.
Alfred, the cat, was another constant concern. Although the cat usually behaved with innate elegance, he never missed an opportunity to observe the tank, his eyes filled with a furtive gleam. Damian had to come up with a series of tricks to keep the cat at bay. He’d place a special lid, one that kept the cat from opening it, and every time Alfred came close, he made sure he wasn’t too near the tank, always with that deadly glare that only a child trained in the art of discipline could possess.
As the days passed, something inside Damian began to change. He didn’t just take care of the tank and the fish with almost obsessive dedication; he did it because, somewhere deep inside him, he had grown fond of it. He wouldn’t admit it, not even to himself, but he knew that this little being, this strange creature he had caught on a whim, had become something more. It was his responsibility, his little refuge, a vestige of something more human that he had learned to avoid for years. And although he didn’t fully understand it, he couldn’t help but feel a strange peace every time he looked at the fish, swimming peacefully in its tank, unaware of the internal war its owner was fighting to protect it.
As the days went by, Damian began to notice something peculiar. At first, he thought it was just his imagination, the result of staring at it for so many hours, but soon it became obvious: his fish was growing. Not in a sudden way, but gradually, as if, somehow, it were changing before his eyes, transforming into something bigger, more... alive. At first, he was skeptical, attributing it to the fact that maybe the creature had been hungrier than he thought. But then, over time, the transformation wasn’t just physical. Its behavior also changed. It became more active, swimming in circles as if it were exploring, as if it weren’t the same creature he had known before.
Damian watched as its shape and color subtly began to alter. The fish’s scales became shinier, and its eyes, which once only reflected the calm of the water, now had a spark of something more: curiosity, perhaps. And the strangest thing of all was that it was getting closer to the surface of the tank, as if it wanted to get out. It was as perplexing as it was fascinating, but he couldn’t help wondering if his fish, somehow, was taking on a life of its own.
Something, though mysterious, was happening in their little world, and, though he didn’t fully understand it, a feeling of inevitability began to settle in his chest. The transformation was clear. Something magical, something he couldn’t control, was happening.
It was one afternoon, returning from a mission as Robin, when Damian discovered it completely. The door to his room was wide open, and a strange silence enveloped him as he entered. His gaze immediately went to the tank, only to discover that it had exploded, water spilling onto the floor and shards of glass scattered around. Panic swept over him, but then he saw it: a small figure in a red dress, completely soaked, jumping on his bed with overflowing energy.
“Damian! Damian!” the girl shouted, her face lit up with overflowing joy as she approached him, showing no trace of fear. Her eyes, now so familiar, looked at him with the same spark he had seen in the tank.
Damian stood still, his heart pounding in his chest, unable to fully understand what he was seeing. Where was his fish? Where and how did that strange girl get in? The girl, with her wet hair and soaked red dress, looked at him with a smile full of energy, as if she had finally found what she had been looking for.
And in that moment, seeing that familiar look, something inside Damian clicked. His fish, his strange and precious creature, had turned into a human, a girl.
A/N ── First off, yes, this request can continue. Feel free to send me questions or whatever if you like it. It's not a series, so no chapters or anything like that.
Honestly, I think I saw a Damian x Ponyo! Reader somewhere, but I can't remember the username, so all credit goes to them. If you see it, send me their username so I can give them the proper credit.
On another note, this story isn’t romantic, so don’t even ask. I’m watching you.
