Sunscar, Forestfall, Hornettail, Rimelilac, Sunnylake, and Tenpestfleck are some of the founders of Sunclan

Sunscar is Sunstar now while Forest and Hornet are the medicine cats

sunny and tempest were born right before the clan formed while rime was a paw

some of the kits left their parents group and formed their own

Nightfur formed nightclan as nightstar

Same with cloudspot with cloudclan, now cloudstar

Leafnose helped form frostclan and eventually became second leader, leafstar

while appletail supported his mate rain in forming rainclan

This family played a part in forming all five clans

The Australian Ghost bat (Macroderma gigas) is the country's largest microbat and the second largest globally. These bats are the only carnivorous bats in Australia, hence one of their common names the False Vampire. However, they do not drink blood, instead, they specialise in consuming insects, frogs, birds, lizards, and small mammals such as other bat species (such as the Bentwing, Horseshoe, Leafnosed, Little Cave Bat, and many species of the Sheath-tailed bats)

SIZE: The Ghost bat is 10 – 13cm long, has a wingspan of 500 mm, and weighs 130 – 170 grams.

LOCATION: They are found in tropical northern Australia, primarily in the Northern Pilbara and Kimberly regions in Western Australia. Northernmost areas of Northern Territory, and from Cairnes to Mount Etna in Queensland. 

THREATS: Man-made: barbed wire fences, tree clearings, loss of old mines and caves, climate change, and tourism

Natural: wildfires, quolls, dingoes, and pythons

DEVELOPMENT:  Once mating is complete, the sexes will separate themselves into gender-specific colonies. The females will form maternity groups of up to 1000 bats during the winter months to maintain body temperature as they naturally run quite low. A mother will birth one pup per year, taking three months to gestate. The pup will suckle milk for four weeks from the armpit and once they reach seven weeks, they will start learning how to fly and hunt. Weaning ends at 3 months, where the pups are now able to fly independently and they will reach sexual maturity for females at a year, whereas males will reach it at two years of age. The lifespan of wild Ghost bats is unknown, however, in captivity, they will live for approx. 8 – 13 years, the oldest being 20 years.

Sunclan

Everything started with Sunstar (sunscar), him and his mate ran away from their clans after everyone figured out they were from different clans, him from thunderclan and hers was windclan, they set off to live peacefully together elsewhere far away without rules or codes (his mate was also a med cat)

Nightclan

Nightstar was the first kit of sunstar and his mate (forestfall), her and her brother were raised by their uncle in hopes their parents wouldn’t be discovered, they were lol, in result she had to leave with her parents as her birth clan (windclan) rejected her (they weren’t having non of it atm)

Cloudclan

Cloudstar was one of Sun’s and Forest’s kits on their journey to the new lands, she just wanted to live in the marshes honestly and was a bit fed up with all her brothers, so she made cloudclan and spent her days chasing frogs

Rainclan

Rainstar was a loner from the area of the clans before they formed, she was extremely head strong and didn’t take orders so she made her own clan on the beach, taking Cloudstar’s brother, Appletail as a mate

Frostclan

Old Frost lived in the mountains, long story short, not many other cats wanted to live there so they just let him be, he was already living up in the snow cave at the beginning of the clans, eventually more cats joined and became a clan, Cloudstar’s second brother, Leafnose became leader after Froststar

in conclusion the Sun and Forest family spilt into the five clans, though those weren’t their only kits (they had eight in total and most stayed in sunclan)

2023 Bahama Cruise, Part 27. May 11 Tarpum Bay, Ten Bay, Eleuthera.

After anchoring north of Tarpum Bay and making water we repositioned the sailboat closer to the settlement of Tarpum Bay. No, that is not a typo. The name changed a couple of times and is named after the large gamefish that used to be found here, Tarpon. They just spelled it differently.

The settlement showed great potential as we approached with our dinghy. The mandatory large church, some artist painted buildings and seemingly well kept houses were visible from a distance. A swing over the water, for tourist to take photos in.

We stopped at the fisherman hanging out near the dock. Four guys just chilling. All over town are nicely hand painted signs saying wear mask and social distance. They no longer require mask or social distance here. As artistic and nicely worded as the signs are, they will still be here 20 years from now. Things don’t happen fast in The Bahamas.

This town has a solid ridge of rock running parallel to the beach. Many of the roads crossing the ridge have been carved down through the rock to make them less steep.

A couple of the houses are painted up. They are usually are rentals.

Note the use of conch shells on the garden wall.

One eclectic modern castle was built by a British couple on the top of the rock ridge.

I love the old tabby and lime houses, as long as there are not beer bottles a foot thick on the inside. It certainly reminds you of how old the city is, and how hard people had it.

The cemetery was very interesting, again it is along the beach where digging a grave was easy, and grave face east. Just goes to show you different uses of conch shells.

We bought some home made candied peanuts on the side of the road. The lady’s son had woven old style fishing traps and selling them for $100. Just pretty hard to get something back home that big.

Nancy found a Pickle ball court in Tarpum Bay! Who’s ready to play?

Sailing north to Ten Bay Beach, we watched a beautiful beach and a green flash sunset while cooking a flank steak on the grill. We thought we would be the only sailboat in sight. Just as the sun set a catamaran pulled in for the night.

Using my GPS and coordinates I found on the internet for the cave. Nancy and I walked a half mile to Ten Bay Cave or “Bat Cave”. The trail leading from the road was overgrown, with several small trees fallen across it. Having been warned that the mosquitoes are thick at the cave entrance and to be prepared to enter the cave when we got there. We stopped on the trail to change sun glasses for clear lens glasses and get out the lights. Too late, the mosquitoes are thick in the bush as well. Should have gotten ready in the open daylight at the road.

This is a huge cave with multiple entrances. The cave has steps carved out of the rocks, leading to a rickety and 12 foot rotten ladder. This is definitely not on the normal tourist pamphlets.

Being the gentleman, I let Nancy go first.

Many of the leafnose bats were flying about. As deep and convoluted as this cave was, we staggered ourselves out with one of us keeping the entrance in sight. You guessed it, I stayed closest to the opening and Nancy ventured deeper into the cave.

This is a close up, from the internet, of the Leaf nosed Bat found in this cave. After looking at its nose, you understand the name. Apparently it helps funnel in the smell of the food to their nose.

This is Phil’s Kitchen. A tent set up on the beach. We ate a hotdog and a cheeseburger washed down with cold Kalik beer. Then we pulled anchor and headed to Governors Harbor, Eleuthera for the night.

im getting so far from the original point of my snowkit lives au to the point that i've planned for leafpool to end up as a windclan queen as crowfeather's mate and have a second litter with him. also her name is leafnose now.

this may seem out of nowhere but i think my reasoning is pretty solid—snowkit chooses to become a medcat apprentice after training several moons with brackenfur and realizing he just doesn't enjoy fighting (following from his lack of interest in play-fighting as a kit, which i'm accepting as a personality thing for the sake of my au even though it was probably just bc of his deafness on the erins' part.)

because of this, leafpaw is a warrior apprentice, despite her connection with starclan and disinterest in fighting and hunting. she grows up feeling a bit out of place in the clan, because she doesn't feel like her contributions are meaningful enough, and she has "bad dreams" all the time that are really because of her connection w/ starclan, but she doesn't have medcat training to recognize that. she is made a warrior as leafnose at the same time as squirrelflight, and bonds with crowpaw through the great journey. as they settle into their lives at the lake, crowfeather and leafnose become closer. when they run away, and are told about the badger attacks, leafnose isn't a medcat and doesn't feel as compelled to go to thunderclan first. she goes with crowfeather to windclan for help and they both arrive in thunderclan camp with windclan.

after that, she stays with thunderclan for a bit before deciding her heart still lies with crowfeather, and she leaves to join windclan after speaking with her parents about how she feels. (firestar and sandstorm are both opposed to it, obviously, but they eventually respect her wishes—i think at this point leafnose admits that she's pregnant as well and firestar thinks back to graystripe and silverstream and that's when he decides to let leafnose go.

she has her kits, and uhhh i also named hollyleaf breezekit at first and made her a tom. at first. but she is not breezepelt bc breezepelt doesn't exist in this—it's just that crowfeather chooses the name for her, since hollyleaf was named by squilf + would've been named crowkit if it'd been up to leafpool. (breezekit grows up to be breezefall and she has her own plot where she leaves the clans, renames herself to holly, and accepts herself as trans).

leafnose and crowfeather's second litter are two kits named squirrelkit and plumekit. i kinda wanted to call back to how hollyleaf was going to be named after crowfeather in canon, and decided that leafpool gets to have her sentimentality moment and name one of her kits after her sister.

and like, to clarify, leafnose does all this because she feels directionless in thunderclan. but that doesn't mean having a mate and kits and being a mother makes it all better. i don't want to give her a happy ending, necessarily, because i think a core part of leafpool's story in any au should still be her inner conflict and the way no possible solution will be perfect for her. as a windclan queen, she still misses thunderclan deeply. she begins to learn herbs and medicine from kestrelflight, and decides to be a perma-queen where she helps with kitting and kit-care and does medcat-related chores for kestrelflight. she has some sense of direction, now. she's trying to heal and find a place for herself. but it just isn't possible for her to feel completely at home and content.

and not really related to any of this but jayfeather becomes a warrior in this au and lionblaze becomes mates with heathertail. holly also takes cinderheart with her when she leaves the clans and they make out sloppy lesbian style

I saw the ask about venomous snakes in Israel, so I was wondering if you could tell us a bit about your favorite nonvenomous Israeli snakes!

I absolutely can!! :)

Crowned leafnose snakes (Lytorhynchus diadema) are super adorable! I love these little guys - they're cool because they're amazingly adaptable. They're both wonderful burrowers and climbers!

Israel actually has one boa - the javelin sand boa (Eryx jaculus)! They're slightly less goofy-looking than other sand boas.

Black whipsnakes (Dolichophis jugularis) are iconic! They're one of the most commonly-seen snakes in Israel. Like North American racers, they're born a dull brown with darker spots, and only get their sleek black coloration as adults.

Crowned dwarf racers (Eirenis coronella) are some of the cutest little guys on the planet! They're naturally stocky little snakes, but super fast regardless - they're active hunters of desert insects like spiders and scorpions!

Dice snakes (Natrix tessellata) are one of Israel's very, very few semi-aquatic snakes! They're close relatives to the grass snake of Europe (Natrix natrix), and can play dead just like their relatives!

The blotched snake (Elaphe suaromates) is Israel's only representative of the Elaphe genus (the Old World ratsnakes). This is the only Israeli snake I've ever been bitten by! Very typically sassy Old World ratsnake personalities. These guys are probably my all-time favorite Israeli snake.

Diadem snakes (Spalerosophis diadema) are some of the largest Israeli snakes, sometimes growing over 6 feet long! They're long, skinny, and some of the cutest snakes in the whole world. They have long tails by snake standards - in adults, about a foot of their body is just tail!

Arabian cat snakes (Telescopus dhara) are named for those big ol' eyes! They're pretty visual for a snake, and are very efficient nocturnal hunters!

Gavand snakes (Zamenis hohenackeri) are sometimes called Transcaucasian ratsnakes, but they're not ratsnakes at all! They fill a similar niche, often hanging around agricultural areas and eating rodents, but they're smaller than true ratsnakes (rarely growing over two feet long) and always keep the same brown-spotted coloration that they have as hatchlings.
