The absolute silence today is gut wrenching. Leaflets were dropped on the west bank telling palistinians to go to Jordan. Last time they told them to go south and they got bombed. Everything about Palestine has suddenly dropped off trending and we know that staff has been suppressing the tags #free palestine and #palestine. Now its has to be every single tag that was trending, because i just simply do not believe we stopped talking about it over night. I feel so hopeless about this shit but the only thing we can do rn is to not stop talking. We have to stop trying to bury our heads in the sand and keep posting as if it was normal because its not normal. Palestinians don't get a break from the horror, the least we can do for them is to make sure their suffering isn't silent.

Do you guys notice how when Shawn Fain, president of the United Auto Workers union, started planning a general strike, he did it by a) targeting his messaging towards unions with the ability to safely and effectively strike in large numbers, b) laid out a clear, actionable plan for those unions to follow (setting contracts to all expire at the same time, since many unions cannot strike while under contract), c) is using union contracts to set clear, actionable demands that can be met in order to gauge success and provide an end goal, and d) started organizing FOUR YEARS before the proposed strike date to give people the chance to plan accordingly, because it takes a really freaking long time to get tens of millions of people organized?

You notice how he didn't do it by slapping a message on Twitter saying 'hey nobody go to work on Monday, that'll really show 'em'?

My father used to hand-draw leaflets for the supermarket where he worked… I found a manuscript from that time. It's round and retro cute. I like the word ‘evening market’. By the way, my father didn't work in a designer way, he was the manager of the supermarket here. He wanted to be a cartoonist since he was a child, but one chance set him back, and he drew these in between his shop manager duties.

父親は昔、勤めていたスーパーマーケットのチラシを手描きで作ってたんだけど.. その時の原稿が出てきた。まんまるくてレトロかわいい 夕市って言葉いいなぁ ちなみに父はデザイナー的に働いていたのではなく、ここのスーパーの店長でした 幼い頃から漫画家を志していましたが、あるきっかけで挫折、これらは店長業務の合間で描いていたそうです。

I've been reading The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon. I'm not the fastest reader so expect my takes in... A while lol.

But it is. SO. REFRESHING. To read a high fantasy novel in which many of the characters are grown ass adults with grown ass adult problems. I can't imagine reading a book of this length and complexity if all of the characters were in their late teens and early twenties.

Ead is 26. Sabran is 28. Loth is probably in his fifties and Roos seems to be in his 50s or even 60s. Kit is probably of similar age. But you also have Sulyard who's 18. Tané is also pretty young (about 20?).

It's NICE. It's great. The diversity of cultural inspiration, of theme, of character's age and maturity, of skin tone. Everyone is going on their various adventures and it's done so well.

I'm engaged with all of them and their experiences. I can appreciate Sulyard 's idealism, Ead and Sabran still growing but also being grown. Loth and Kit and Roos being too damn old for this shit but still getting caught up in things and still gaining new life experiences in their middle(?) age. Tané coming of age.

I want to spend time with all of these people, not just as an escapist, but also just as a reader experiencing a novel and that's A Big Deal for me.

The smallest Terran (so far), sibling to Stardeep. Leaflet had known where his lost sibling was, but his fear of water prevented him to pursue her trails. His courage jumpstarts when Twitch offered him a ride on her drone mode. Leaflet didn't want to leave the rainforest until he was bribed with Kamen Rider figurines. Twitch regrets promising that and distracts Leafelt with more rides.

Twitch: She felt glad to meet somebot smaller than her. No offense to Robby and Mo, but Twitch feels more confident to give a fellow Terran a ride as they are much sturdy than a human. Although, she has to teach Leaflet the importance of giving cues or else she might have a spark attack the next time he randomly sky dives while flying on her.

Aftermath: To him, Leaflet acts to true to his alt mode -- a bugger. When did this bug get into the Meridian Lair? How come the security sensors couldn't detect him? How the frag did he hitch a ride on Aftermath without him noticing?? The bug better stay away from his calculators!
