hihi, i really enjoy your interpretation on why red resides on mt. silver as i believe he climbed and stayed on the mountain for similar reasons. since you headcanon him and leaf as twins, i was wondering how you think leaf took red's sudden departure. do you think she tried to go and find him? i know you headcanon them as twins too so i'm wondering how hard she took it in your canon :(

I've been thinking about this too since I haven't gotten to ramble about it on tumblr...

leaf knows red, blue knows him too, but both in different aspects if that makes sense when she heard that her brother was missing, she was expecting him to come back after a few days.. because leaf knows that's what red does when he gets overwhelmed (and has been there sometimes to accompany him) but when days becomes weeks and weeks becomes months.. the realization hits her, she knows him well enough that if it had gone this long red has no interest of going back

so she looked through all the spots he usually hide in.. none.. none.. where did you go? deep inside, she wishes that red depended more on people, on her- lingering at the back of her head she felt like she has failed as a sibling if her brother can't trust her enough to confide in (but he had always held back the full information, "I wish he was more open")

but she isn't the type to sulk around, seeing her own mother grief- and of course blue is in a mess too- even if she feels a deep sadness, it made her feel like she has to be someone that can be there for these two... (blue has made his world revolve around red, leaf and red being close twins, now both have felt what its like, a part of you being ripped apart, a missing presence always looming over)

little things start to remind her of red ("oh he would've hated this place, it's too noisy" "wonder what he would think about this pokemon") she would push those thoughts immediately as it dampens her mood, she can tell blue is having those thoughts too and obviously affects him badly..

So I decided to restart my animal crossing new leaf for the 3ds file completely but I didn't know that Tom Nook would OFFER TO BUY the entire town and let you carry over the money to the new town and it's hysterical because the mayor basically peaces out, cashes in on 30 million bells, changes entire identity, and accidentally becomes the mayor in a new town. There's a fanfic there but I'm too lazy to write it.

i'm gonna ramble about these two Metallica performances, excuse me

first of all, i love the little distorted sounds that are the same as the album version. so tasty. but also James' stance in the beginning. he knows it's a banger. the bass is so good. this is my absolute favorite performance of this song. i always love James' gestures when he sings, especially when he takes his hands off his guitar. i love love the fact that he's so passionate that he messes up the 'i'd rather smash the clock' part. i want to eat Rob's bass, i'm sorry, it's such a good tone. and how James is so deliberate about the little additions (i have no idea what they're called). yes, i know we love this song for reasons, it's a special one, but even if we take out the Cliff aspect of it, it's so amazing. and the way you can see that they enjoy it and want to drag it out (also reminiscing about the fact that it would have been longer, but they had to cut it cause the album was too long with the 11-minute version). again, the bass, gods above. the buildup. i adore Kirk (no special reason, i just do). they're having fun and they know it slaps so hard. respectfully, this song fucks (the entirety of Load does, but that's another story). also, grandpa James, please, an ounce of your gender.

and my favorite modern-era Bleeding Me performance

the beginning! Rob, i'm gonna eat that bass. Kirk. just, Kirk. i kinda miss Lars' purple set. respectfully asking for an ounce of James' gender again. the 'i'm sowing the seeds' part, i love his head movements when he gets into it like that. Kirk, again. James' crucifixion stance and that drawn-out note. i love the lyrics 'i am the beast that feeds the feast / i am the blood / i am release', that part goes so hard, especially with Rob's backing vocals. Rob vibing in front of the camera. go grandpa the last 'something better'. yeah, i think that's about it.

My deep dark video gayming secret is that I fell off New Leaf really hard, and I think New Horizons is infinitely more fun.

I was a huge fan of Wild World (and City Folk), and I never got the New Leaf hype. It felt more micromanaged than the other games and I think it ruined my enjoyment. The lack of clear goals once you get into the "end game" of New Horizons reminds me of those days in Wild World where I just collected bells and fished because I wanted to.

I also think people overstate the concept of it being a "dead" game, given that... Most of the Animal Crossing games have never gotten continual updates in real time, and it was never meant to be a forever sort of thing. Instead it added things over a period of months so that you could experience them as they were added (rather than bulldozing through and time traveling to all of them). It isn't a live service game, and the way players see every game as that these days is awful for games in general, in my opinion.

There are things I wish New Horizons did! I do think the villager dialogue can get a bit corny or stale at points, but it is not nearly as bad as people state (beyond that New Leaf was already a downslide in terms of dialogue from Wild World, so I wasn't really looking for that sort of thing). And I actually genuinely talk to my villagers, run around and do stuff for them, get them daily presents, and shit.

I mean I do fall off the game for months on end, but that's not really new to New Horizons. And I am glad I'm no longer penalized the way I was in Wild World.

And my last hot take is, I don't think the New Horizon's soundtrack is bad. I think there are some good bops, but honestly I can zone out to all of it, and I'm not tempted to pull up one of my playlists--so that's a solid enough soundtrack. I do think I prefer City Folks overall here though.
