I have always loved the saying, "It is never too late to become what you might have been." This sentiment has resonated with me throughout my life, especially when I decided to pursue my engineering degree at Georgia Tech at the age of 29 while raising a two-year-old with special needs as a single parent. Additionally, transitioning into a new industry in my late 40's was driven by the shared vision of Aetos Imaging, which aims to create a more inclusive and supportive work environment for individuals from diverse backgrounds. Reflecting on the question, "What do you want to be when you grow up..." It should be rephrased to, "What do you aspire to do next..." It is worth noting that this particular statement is often attributed to George Eliot, although there is no concrete evidence to confirm that she was the actual author. Are you a leader that believes you need to control everything? . In the Navy Seals, commanders teach their leaders how to manage a smaller amount of people. Reason: no human can manage a larger force than 4 or 5 more at a time. . Its called de centralized leadership. It allows a leader to not be sucked in too deep into minutia and not to be left behind and lose perspective of any strategic initiatives. . If you're a leader, you need to communicate the bigger picture to their team, set secondary and sometimes tertiary leaders and create blocks of 3 to 5 people to manage. . This allows for greater mobility, greater adjustability, and greater true focus on a full picture strategy If everyone in the organization understands and is empowered to make that strategy happen, it is then only necessary to manage 4 or 5 people. They in turn can do the same. . It is removing the law of the lid, where going or growing upward is no longer limited by your abilities, skills, or talents.
