I was really excited to see that my city council passed an ordinance asking everyone to shelter in place for the next two weeks...until I read further and saw they’re not doing anything to enforce it, they’re just asking. CAN I PLEASE LIVE SOMEWHERE WITH LEADERSHIP THAT DOES SOMETHING IN A CRISIS OTHER THAN SITTING AROUND WITH THEIR THUMB UP THEIR ASS.

The Office Reboot
In honor of all this Office talk and the New Year I decided to share my idea of what an Office Reboot would look like. Please enjoy!
***
Opening scene.
[camera panning erratically as a disembodied voice shouts "Hello, hello, testing testing!" until the image lands on a chest. the chest clearly belongs to a woman and in a white button-down shirt with thin red lines. it looks very lived in with a discolored spot that looks like it could have been coffee from months and months ago. the camera zooms out to reveal a woman in her late twenties. she is very pretty with short frizzy red hair and glasses that make her look much older than she is. She is sitting behind a familiar mahogany desk and clearly written on a metal placard is the name "CeeCee Halpert".]
CeeCee [holding the microphone that had been discretely placed on the collar of her blazer, looking off camera] Testing Testing. Oh, oh. You can hear me? I just want to make sure I get this right. Can you hear me? I feel like you can't hear me? Are the camera's picking up what I'm saying?
[the screen goes black with a little "bloop" sound. the image restarts to CeeCee sitting gracefully with her hands folded at the desk with thick dark sunglasses on.]
CeeCee: Hello and welcome back to Dunder Mifflin Paper Company! It has been twenty years since you have returned to Scranton, Pennsylvania and I'd like to introduce you to how the world of paper has changed. For starters, when you left off Dwight Schrute was the regional manager but he has since upgraded to CEO. There were some serious economic set backs but under his leadershit- leadership Dunder Mifflin has triumphed. You're probably wondering who took his place and I'll be happy to introduce you.
[CeeCee turns around and then spins dramatically, pulling off the glasses in such a quick motion her hand punches the desk]
CeeCee: The names Halpert. CeeCee Halpert. You might recognize me from the sordid love affair of James Halpert and Pamela Beesley. They're back in Texas now, living the dream, and I came all the way back East Coast with my brother Philip to take over where they left off in the paper game.
[the scene changes to back out in the office and sitting in Dwight's old seat is a young, tall, lanky gentleman typing away at a computer. he looks too thin for what he is wearing to give off the illusion of bigger size (his jacket has shoulder pads) and his hair is coiffed perfectly to the side]
CeeCee: This is the ol' brojo. Say hi to the camera PeePee! [she shouts this as she grabs him and pulls him into a head lock as she ruffles his hair]
Philip: Get off of me! Get off! What the hell!
[the scene blips again to CeeCee standing professionally while he fixes his hair]
CeeCee: This is my younger brother Philip. They say don't dip your pen in the company ink but I say what's the point of having ink if you can't dip? What the point of even having a pen?
Philip: That's not what that means. Hi, I'm Assistant Regional Manager.
Off camera: Assistant to the Regional Manager.
CeeCee: Aha-HA. And meet the other Philip! Mr. Schrute, our protege.
[the camera turns to a young man in Jim's old desk. he has familiar, strong features that are relaxed in a clearly stoned manner]
CeeCee: This here is our CEO's son who has just joined our office. After a little spill on the beet farm young Phil has joined our ranks! I have direct orders get on him and I make sure I do, right Phil?!"
[both Phil and Philip grimace]
Phil: Yeah, I'm just here until dad dies of a heart attack and I can take over company. Hey, Cee? Want to know what I'm doing first?"
CeeCee [laughingly]: What are you doing?
Phil: Firing you.
CeeCee: You little sh*t!
[the scene blips and she's standing beside Phil with his hand on his shoulder, an ice pack pressed against the side of his mouth]
CeeCee: We all like to have fun!
Opening Credits.

APRIL  2021 QUIPS
I think of everything,
therefore I know it all.
The sole function of
the vice president is
to pardon the president
if he is indicted for or convicted of vice.
To facilitate the transition from democracy to fascism, the government will be curtailing life liberty & the pursuit of happiness
I’ve been trying all my life to make sense of things
and I finally did but I forgot what it was.
How to get what you don't like...vote.
Now the reins of power are in the hands of madmen and criminals we're in for a wild ride.
People who vote in a rigged election are stupid.
Everything is going right for the wrong people.
Whatever could go wrong has gone wrong, is going wrong, or will go wrong.
Fact: everything I say is true.
The hyped pandemic has become a panicdemic.
Does anyone know how to get rid of corrupt governments?
I have no idea how… voting sure doesn't work…
US foreign policy
(1) send the fighter jets
(2) send an ultimatum
I know everyone wants me to be witty, wise, and full of good advice all the time,
but I’ve got other things to do.
I'm all tired out, so I'm going to turn in.
TIMOTHY LEARY’S BEDTIME MANTRA
Turn in. Tune out. Drop off.
The US government is being run by men of the caliber of Sicilian Mafioso,
and just as vicious, but on a grander scale.
Teaching school--
whaddaya get?
Another day older
and deeper in debt.
In America, there is no justice--just ICE.
If the military-industrial complex was a non-profit organization…
You would think that people would think.
What have you experienced in your life? (List experiences in alphabetical order)
No one would dare whisper the sound of silence (or peek at the sight of total darkness)
I suspect that the "Free Thought Project" is a right-wing website pretending to be anarchist.
What's all this shit about treating human beings like human beings? How are we gonna pay for it?
Many thank you very muches cannot escape my grateful clutches
We are living in one of
the most interesting periods
in modern history
...sorry about that…
I remember when corruption in government was a bad thing to be avoided, now honest government is rare or nonexistent.
If you don't understand what I'm telling you, it's because
you're wrong.
Don't believe in things you
don't understand.
Understand the things
you believe.
A brilliant idea popped into
my head, but by the time I found a pen, it had flown but maybe it will pop into so
It's easy to be an idiot
(turn on your TV)
but it's a hard life.
Medicare for All is a Russian plot to give all Americans free healthcare
[RACHEL MADDOG]
I used to not worry about getting my government pension, but now I am getting pension tension.

Gun Safe Coach Firearm Freddy
It turns out that we can buy time, in a meaningful way. Because we like to compare collecting gun safes with the opposite: not collecting gun safes. If the statistics are any good, then there are millions of crimes committed every year. And instead of becoming a certain victim of statistics, we like to see ways you can buy time. Thus decreasing the chance something bad happens. If we learned anything in 2021, it's that we can't trust incompetent "leadership". Or as we like to call it, incompetent leadershit. We recommend to build layers of protection instead of solely relying on other's lack of competence to save the day.

Leadershit

The Lost Art of Leadership
Tumblr media
Have you noticed lately how the world seems to have an abundance of “Leadershit” instead of Leadership?
There are people in power making decisions that compromise our basic human values of trust, loyalty and respect. As a result we’ve come to expect the worst from our "leaders" and this attitude causes more complaining at all levels when things go wrong or aren't done properly.
Worse, when someone steps up and actually tries to fix a problem, they face an incredible uphill battle because of a lack of trust. And if by some sliver of bad luck this aspiring leader screws up while trying to fix a problem, they are instantly crucified and labelled "just like the rest". This needs to stop.
We need to flood our minds with positive role models of good leaders to re-inspire us what leadership actually means. We need to rebuild our trust in leadership as a capability to solve problems. So how do we achieve that?
Well you as an existing or aspiring leader, need to step up and play a bigger game. Let me break it down.
Great Leaders Embrace Communication
The other day I stumbled upon a live stream from Don Meij, the CEO of Dominos, Australia’s largest pizza chain. Don was inside one of the store kitchens, wearing an apron and gloves instead of the traditional corporate suit and tie. He began demonstrating Dominos fast cook ovens by making a pizza and cheesy garlic bread and told us a bit about what was happening in the company.
Tumblr media
I was stunned. Here was a leader of a major Australian company giving us a behind the scenes look at what's happening and why it's important. It had such a different effect to seeing an ad or reading an annual report. It was personal. It was relatable. It was human. And THAT is what creates trust in today’s world.behind the scenes look at what's happening and why it's important. It had such a different effect to seeing an ad or reading an annual report. It was personal. It was relatable. It was human. And THAT is what creates trust in today’s world. But did it work? Hellz yeah! The comments on the video were extremely positive. They weren't just from customers but also other franchise store owners who were excited because their leader was actually doing what a leader is meant to do.
To extrapolate why this is relevant to you, think about what Don is doing here. He's getting out of his office, rolling up his sleeves and telling us what's going on. Most importantly he is demonstrating to us how excited he is about the changes and what they mean to the ecosystem of the company - its people, shareholders, franchisees and customers. When was the last time you saw a “leader” do that? Such a simple gesture from a leader has such a huge impact given the world we live in today.
Great Leaders Guide Followers
Tech startup Speedlancer has a unique implementation of leadership. Many of you might not have heard of them so bear with me for a moment while I explain who they are and why they are brilliant.
Those of you who use freelancing platforms know how time consuming it is to post a job, wade through tonnes of proposals and then select the right person for you. Well Speedlancer does all that heavy lifting for you.
All you have to do is post a job and then wait for the result. Their visual project management workflow is pure gold and allows you to instantly know where a task is at, so you can focus on doing what you do best and let the software handle the rest. Using Speedlancer is less like outsourcing important tasks to strangers, and more like having extended family (ones that you actually like!), to get stuff done!
Okay back to the story. After hearing all the international reviews about them I decided to check them out. So I signed up and when I logged in, up pops this little message window with a personalised greeting offering to show me around the software.
The thing is, the greeting isn’t just from anyone - it's from Adam Stone, the CEO of Speedlancer who is walking me through the platform. AND he's got his LinkedIN and Twitter details on there so I can go to him directly if something goes wrong.
Tumblr media
Let me give you some context as to why I valued this approach.
I’m passionate about cars and I frequently visit a very popular motoring website here in Australia to read reviews on new models. But every time I visit that website, a little popup chat window appears along with an annoying bell and asks me if I want to chat with a team member. I know it’s just a chatbot and since I’m there to read reviews, I automatically close it. But it doesn’t take the hint and every time I open up that website or a new tab to read about a different model, the bell goes off and the chat windows appear.
Now when I visit the website I turn my sound off and get ready to close the windows as soon as they pop up. Rather than enhancing my experience it annoys the sh*t out of me. This is also an example of disconnected leadership as someone in that company authorised this torture.
Speedlancer’s popup is different. It’s not intrusive, it’s helpful. I’m new to the environment and don’t know much about the platform so I would relish some digital guidance as a first time user. I don’t care if it’s not a live chat or even if it’s a chatbot because the pic on the popup isn't just some random employee that I have no intention of caring about. It's the leader of the company, showing up to face his customers and accept responsibility for their success or failure on his software.
That's instant credibility. That's instant trust. THAT is leadership.
Great Leadership Isn’t Complicated
Such simple things as stepping up and showing your face to customers blows my mind because we live in a world where our "leaders" hide behind policies, procedures and closed doors. They're quick to claim micro successes and even quicker to shift the blame when things go wrong. That’s the status quo of leadership today and it needs to change. You don't need a title to lead. All you need is a desire to step up to help those around you. That's how we influence the world to become a better place. And when you think about it in the grand scheme of things, can we afford not to? - AJ~
