I think everyone needs to come together and congratulate DBK (and the rest of the Demon Bull family) for being the only ones to just give up. They DID quit while they were ahead. It's the only reason they're still alive.

Sleeping Issues.

Okay. I have a lot of headcanons, but I think this is one that would be canon or could be. Wukong and Macaque get nightmares, a lot, Wukong less then Macaque (Because I made a super horrible traumatizing past for Macaques family before he met Wukong :3) In the past if one of them got a nightmare they would get up and walk to wherever the other was sleeping without a word and just cuddle up with each other (Platonic or Romantic) But after Macaques death/murder and revival, both of their nightmares picked up, and also he had more issues with sleep as he worked with LBD and The Mayor, he barley ate, he barley slept, (I HC that Wukong is chubby and Macaque is skinny <3) but anyways, he barley took care of himself because he was so focused on other things, and if he did get sleep he would wake up from a nightmare about an hour or two later. So, that leads to this headcanon I have for Macaque. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Macaque has Insomnia Nightmares/Nightmares Disorder While nightmares are associated with certain mental health conditions, such as PTSD. Nightmare disorder is a pattern of repeated frightening and vivid dreams that cause significant distress or impaired functioning. Nightmare disorder causes frequent, extended nightmares that commonly depict serious threats to the dreamer’s life, safety, and well-being. They wake from them feeling alert and deeply distressed. Typically, they can vividly recall the content of the nightmare. Mild: Less than one nightmare per week on average. ~ Moderate: One or more nightmares per week, but less than nightly. ~ Severe: Nightmares every night. It can also vary in duration: Acute nightmare disorder lasts one month or less. ~ Subacute nightmare disorder lasts at least one month but less than six months. ~ Chronic nightmare disorder lasts for six months or longer. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ After he get's these nightmares he can't fall back asleep because his thoughts are swirling, so usually he just stares up at the sky/ceiling/ whatever he's under, thinking, laying there for hours until he has to get up.

Day Twenty One: Memory

People depict Chief as serious, because of how he was shown in the flashback scene. But maybe he is more or less similar to the Mayor. A silly guy, trying to be positive while the empire he lives in suffers.

But the moment a certain someone comes and says they can save everything and create a better world, especially when the emperor has been nothing short of an arsehole... Well... The Chief would certainly take the only chance to make his empire a better place, right?

Hey so, LMK is fine with saying 'killing' and stuff, and LBD still goes with this, because it is a freaking awesome threat. I'm sorry I just need to gush over this line for a moment.

The very memory of you. Killing is easy enough (at least for her). But the entire idea of "your loved one is always with you in your heart" or "they never die if you keep their memory alive" is completely erased by this threat.

This isn't "you will never walk the mortal plane again". This isn't "your friends and family will be without you forever". This isn't "you will suffer for as long as you can remember".

This is "There will be no sign of you. No trace. Nobody will remember you. Nobody will keep your memory alive."

And if that isn't an awesome threat I don't know what is.

Thinking About the Past

The last post is making me think of the several year nonsense that was me learning to drive because my parents pressured me to get a license. The truth is I never really wanted a license but I kind of convinced myself I did because everyone wants one right? And my parents kept pressuring me. I'm an okay driver under normal circumstances and I can even parallel park pretty well. But I kept. Failing. the fucking behind the wheel test. In part due to having test anxiety, but also in part Minnesota (the state I'm originally from) being notorious for being extra hard on people. On my last attempt, I even got special driving lessons and when I failed again my teacher tried to go to bat for me and got the tester to admit they marked me for far more errors than I actually got. But even then it wasn't enough for me to pass (but only just barely, a little more and I could have passed, and that will forever piss me off). (And after that was when I moved away.)

I originally made plans to try again in my current state and then I realized... I don't want to drive. I'm grateful that I was taught how (so I can drive in an emergency as long as I'm not pulled over by the cops). But I don't want to own a car, and even though I can drive, the truth is I hate doing it. It majorly stresses me out (even moreso in a testing situation). Sure, it makes things harder in some cases, but I'm a lot happier now that I admitted it was something I never wanted.

Okay wait wait wait maybe I’m hallucinating but the dialogue in this show tends to parallel each other so like what if when Swk started taunting Mac about “screwing off to your master, the lady bone demon is waiting” like what if Mac before The Monkey Pancakening said something like that to Swk about “running off to the monk” v different context tho of course. Surprised there’s not much commentary abt how Mac literally doesn’t want to be working for Lbd and doesn’t care even after he said he wanted to be on the winning side and already had a taste of death and wasn’t a fan. He says it like nearly every fight. Is this one of those instances where it’s different for the show characters and I only care about the red flags as an outside viewer not getting attacked by a smoke monster 😭

but yeah, it would make so much sense to be a callback from what Macky said in the past to swk. it's like his way of throwing memories and Macky's own hypocrisy. he greeted swk by reminding the other about their argument under the mountain. so why not have that other reminder be from swk??? why fucking not!

In a moment of "I'm getting really sad about Macaque and MK parallels", I just keep thinking about how all MK's wanted to do was quit while they were ahead, but he hasn't been able too. He's been pushed and pushed and pushed at every turn. His journey "is just beginning", and "forever's a long time"—there's been no choice for things to stay the same. I wonder if truly Wukong had a choice either. "You ever wish things will just stay like this, like they are right now?" "Psshhhkkk where's the fun in that?"

When you lay down the bare facts of what's happening in France, it's so plainly evil.

Macron, a millionaire banker, told French people he wants us to work until we die (most people affected by the increase in retirement age work in rough conditions that make their life expectancy much lower than the rest of the population) and French people took to the streets to say no, we want to live a little before we die, and Macron started sending thousands and thousands of cops armed with steel batons and tear gas grenades and LBD guns to gas us and beat us into submission. This millionaire banker is sending cops to brutalise old ladies and homeless men and arrest children at protests and many people have already been severely wounded, in the past week only French people have ended up with cracked skulls and amputations and broken hands for protesting Macron, and he's not backing down, and other Western governments are not in a hurry to do something because they're not terribly opposed to the idea of millionaires working poor people to death.

We'll keep protesting.

Real quick addressing some villains in the MK world au, LBD and SQ are still technically dead. MK just created some bodies with for their souls to inhabit (I'm letting him do that considering the underworld had the kings fucking MURDERED and that wasn't addressed). He also did his lil memory rewrite on them so they could live casual lives.

Took some inspiration from the 5th anniversary set, LBD is a chiropractor and SQ is a hairdresser

I think maybe I might need a semi-break from tumblr for Mental Health reasons. Over the next three days or so I think I'll set up my queue and let it run for a while. I say semi-break because I think I'll still check in to post if I posted chapter updates to any fanfics I'm working on or if I've gotten the first chapters of unpublished stuff up and going (and maybe answer some asks I keep forgetting to answer), but other than that I think I'm just going to be scarce here for a while.

LMK'S "REDEMPTION ARCS"

I like Lego Monkie Kid's "redemption arcs", and that is a hill I'm willing to die on.

It's no secret that the 'redemption arcs' in LMK aren't your stereotypical redemption arcs, AND THAT'S OKAY!!!!!

I think that it's very nice to have evil/villainous characters have a moment of "It was at this moment that he knew... HE. FUCKED. UP." and then doing a 180 from their original plans.

The Demon Bull Family's arc is a great example of this. Heck, Princess Iron Fan and especially Red Son might not have even been antagonists if it wasn't for Demon Bull King wanting to take over the city/world. They love him so much that they were willing to follow him to the ends of the universe if that's what it took to help him fulfill his goals and dreams.

Then came their run-in with the Lady Bone Demon. That's when the Demon Bull King realized just how much his plans could cost his family if he chose to continue down this path. IT COULD COST THEM EVERYTHING

Everything that he just got back. The family who freed him from captivity, likely in spite of having been told that it would be a fruitless endeavor. His family: a beautiful wife and intelligent, innovative son who love him so much that they'd lay down their lives for him in a heartbeat. His plans could cost them their lives and almost did. While under LBD's influence, he attempted to strike his son... and Red Son didn't even try to move out of the way. He had no reaction period. DBK is absolutely strong enough to kill his son. Had his wife not stepped in, Red Son might have been killed by his own hand if the blow was hard enough. That realization alone of what LBD almost made him do could very well be the thing that made him turn back on the idea of world domination.

It makes total sense for a man who's number one priority is his family (even if he doesn't always show it) to give up on all else if his family is the price he has to pay.

It's just not worth it.

He later lectures Azure Lion on this topic of "The price is worth more than the payoff" when he says in season 4:

"This pursuit of yours has warped your mind, brother."

The exact same thing happened to him. DBK tried to warn him to turn back now.

But he didn't.

And now he's dead.

Doing a 180 saved the Demon Bull King's hide and it works so much better for the story overall than a long fleshed out redemption arc.

The villain getting a reality check is in my opinion a much better storytelling device than a redemption arc and is criminally underrated.

A metaphorical (lego) brick to the face is much more powerful in my opinion.
