I don't usually post anything like this, but not long ago I had an issue with a user on twitter ( _albertwesker) who took my art, botched it with an ugly attempt at hiding parts of the original piece to use against people calling them out for racism.
This really fucked me up, because THAT IS MY ART! My art being used by someone who romanticises Resi characters being dressed up as nazis (🤮) against other people and therefore tying me into their bullshit.
As a result, I'd really appreciate it if people DID NOT REPOST MY ART TO SITES LIKE PINTEREST, INSTAGRAM, TWITTER, OR LITERALLY ANYWHERE.
‼️ I do not care if you give me credit. DO NOT REPOST MY WORK.‼️
The best way to keep weirdos like this person I've blocked from accessing my art is to retweet/reblog from my accounts.
They also steal a lot of content from people who actually put effort into making content for the community, and it's usually people like them that kill communities because the people who actually make all this lovely stuff for your eyes don't want to make stuff anymore because lazy people with the sole talent of using an Instagram filter leech off them.
Even I'm considering no longer posting art to the public because of these issues. Hopefully, it never comes to that because I like making art for people to enjoy.

What are your thoughts on the "yellow paint/tape" that has been used to guide players in horror games as of late? Resi does it and from the looks of things SH2R is doing it too.
Do you see it as an ok way to guide the player through the game and keep frustration at getting lost low?
Or is it way too hand holdy and a crux for lazy level design?
Or do you just feel neutral?
i've modded it out of RE4make because i think it's ugly but
this argument is stupid because before there was the yellow paint, items would either sparkle or glow to denote to the player that they could be picked up
or they would VERY CLEARLY be a special model in-game to denote they were breakable

THATS WHAT IM SAYING and totally agree on the plot armor thing. How are you gonna have this mold man come in with is little hand gun and fuck shit up. Like Miranda was supposed to be so strong that all 4 lords together couldn’t take her out. Heisenberg literally created an army to fight her AND THAT STILL PROBABLY WOULDN’T HAVE WORKED. Like she’s strong as hell. And Ethan just repeatedly shoots her?? Because with that logic Ethan should have been dead ten times over, him being mold and all. I’m pretty sure Mother Miranda is a high percentage of pure mold as well (hence her being around for like ever). The farthest he could have possibly gotten would have been Alcina’s boss fight, but even I think that’s generous. (He shouldn’t have walked out of the castle is what I’m saying)
Now if they did something like Nemesis in Resi 3, where he appears repeatedly throughout the game and you have a mini boss fight each time, it would have been better. Like we weaken Miranda each fight to the point where she has no choice but to mutate at the very end in the final fight. Instead we get her mutating as soon as Ethan shows up. That was so lame, it didn’t show just how powerful she really is. There are phases in a boss fight, especially the big bad fight at the end, and there was none.
I WILL FOREVER BE ANGRY THAT CAPCOM WAS SUPER LAZY WITH VILLAGE >:( you build up these super powerful characters, four of which that have literally been HUNTING HUMANS FOR DECADES, and you're gonna tell me they wouldn't know their own weaknesses??? they would just let this mold man come in with a little pew pew and be dead just like that???
i don't care if it would've been harder. i fully believe Ethan should have just tried to escape from the castle through a fucking window or something when he learned Rose wasn't there. like, imagine a scene where all three daughters are chasing him???? and he has to just find a way to throw them off and get out of dodge??? like maybe he can't kill them but he can break open a window to get them away for a bit idk SOMETHING BETTER THAN WHAT WE GOT BECAUSE THEY'RE LITERAL NEARLY INVINCIBLE SERIAL KILLERS
and imagine how creepy it would've been to have Miranda actually show up in her form and stalk him???? to have less and less villagers appear each time he comes back, be it from lycans or Miranda just straight up killing them???? TO BATTLE HER AFTER EACH LORD OR WHATEVER AND SEE JUST HOW POWERFUL SHE REALLY IS ??????
anyways i could go on about this FOREVER. it annoys me so much and i'm still mad about it. i love the game, but come ON. Ethan shouldn't have survived with the way things went and i fully believe he would've found another way out of those situations that wasn't just "pew pew now you're dead hehe" URGH

Quei primi giorni di scuola del nuovo ciclo di studi, il famigerato triennio dove “the world can change in a second or so”… e infatti cambiò, da un momento all’altro. Questa canzone però non ricorda momenti fuligginosi e tenebrosi, bensì qualcosa di così legato al benessere e alla spensieratezza che forse non ci sono parole, oltre che quelle citate da Robbie, che possano reggere il confronto. Ricordo relazioni adolescenziali importanti, con persone importanti, persone amorevoli, persone che ho perso di vista e persone che non ci sono fisicamente più. Ti ricordo giocherellare con i miei (i nostri) sentimenti nella nostra turbolenza sedicenne. Ricordo gli amori urlati al vento e sulla corriera. Noi, ad ascoltare i Blink seduti l’uno accanto all’altra, consapevoli che un legame era stato stretto da molto tempo, oramai. Siamo stati stupidi a non averlo ammesso mai, a parole chiare ed aperte, allineate l’una dietro all’altra, in ordine, in modo pulito e nitido. Abbiamo procrastinato e in un battibaleno siamo finiti ad odiarci per fatti e cose che nessuno, in realtà, pensava né provava. La vita è stupida. E con essa le persone che la abitano
Ma questa canzone dice qualcosa di più. Dice che si, possiamo essere stupidi, ma ci verrà sempre data una seconda, una terza possibilità per dimostrare al mondo che si può anche sbagliare, ma ci si rialzerà comunque e sempre, da quel cumulo di menzogne e cose mai dette che i giorni, le ore e i minuti hanno sedimentato sopra i nostri corpi. Siamo fatti anche di stupidità e di cose che si dicono a metà, il più delle volte siamo solo quello che diciamo e ci ricordiamo a vicenda per le cose stupide e improbabili che le nostre bocche dicono. Eppure… eppure… calma un attimo. Questa canzone mi porta alla mente delle azioni, fatti concreti, che sono, in fin dei conti, le cose che ci rendono o che ci hanno resi totalmente felici. Mi ricordo di alcuni giorni vicini al Natale 2010, di una gita a Polcenigo con i miei genitori, alle sorgenti del Gorgazzo. Mi ricordo di quanto non avessi la benché minima voglia di andarci. Avrei voluto continuare a sognare davanti a quello che, all’epoca, era il mio migliore amico, il mio passatempo preferito: lo schermo del mio PC fisso, nel mio studio. In effetti ho appena attribuito ad una scatola di plastica una grossa e grassa descrizione, ma in realtà esso poteva essere da me considerato all’epoca qualcosa di magico e sorprendente, mi permetteva di parlare con chi avessi più voluto, di vedere e ascoltare tutta la musica presente su questa terra e di vedere le foto delle perso che amavo di più al mondo, mi permetteva di ascoltare questa canzone, Lazy Days, che ancora oggi mi fa traboccare il cuore di lacrime di gioia, incontenibile. Mi fa pensare che quel Natale e quelle chat rubate alle 2 della mattina sono e saranno sempre senza tempo. Quegli sms mandati nel cuore della notte, quella vibrazione del telefono che arrivava all’improvviso. La gioia di stare crescendo. La gioia di vivere e soffrire amaramente allo stesso tempo. Ho amato tante persone allo stesso tempo, una confusione incredibile provavo. Ma la vita è e dev’essere una continua confusione e un moto verso il davanti. Deve continuare a stupire e mai assopirsi in un sonno profondo fatto di azioni senza senso e cadaveriche sensazioni di entusiasmo.
L’entusiasmo. Ecco. Questo è questa canzone. Entusiasmo nel ricevere un messaggio che recita così: “lo urlerei al Paradise che ti amo, porca puttana”. Mi ricordo bene, era una sera, forse una sera delle vacanze di natale. Una sera in cui, nei giorni successivi, ti avrei visto, con il mio finto borsone di Karatè. Una sera (o un pomeriggio) in cui mentii spudoratamente a mia madre (che aveva compreso tutto) e ti incontrai, all’insaputa del mio vero ragazzo dell’epoca. Non successe nulla. In sottofondo questa canzone, prima che la tragedia più grande del 2011 incombesse sulla mi vita.
La mia più dolce tragedia, che porta canzoni ancora più potenti e complesse, che mai si scardineranno dalla serratura del mio cervello.
Ma ecco, questa canzone rappresenta il tremore di avere 16 anni ed essere totalmente inconsapevoli di cosa sia l’amore, l’odio o il terrore. Solo una serie di bolle di sapone giganti che vedevi, all’improvviso, passare davanti ai tuoi occhi. Sensazioni sparse ed immature, che coglievano attimi autogenerati dalla tua smania di vivere per davvero. A cuor un po’ più leggero, ma senza mai perdere del tutto la bussola. Ho sempre promesso a me stessa che avrei ricordato strenuamente tutto, alla condizione di dimenticare tutto il resto, ma avrei ricordato i momenti di pura felicità e puro terrore. I due opposti. Le due facce della stessa medaglia della mia vita. E così farò.

Leon Kennedy
- re2 Leon is a cling master
- he makes it his whole personality for a while to be a gentlemen and also never not be touching you
- he just wants you to know how much he loves you but also don't leave him because then he has to fend for himself and that's just hard
- he'll give you space when you ask but expect a bit of halfhearted pouting
- re4 and on Leon is a clingy disaster
- the boy it going through traumatic events left and right so when he sees you, there's no way in hell you're leaving his side
- it's less of a touching you thing and more of a 'where are you going? why are you leaving the room?'
- Claire sometimes jokes that he's overbearing and controlling which he hates
- he wants to give you your freedom completely
- but on the same hand, he can't really leave your side if he can help it
- even if you're just at a dinner or something, if you go to the bathroom he will too and he'll hang out outside the restroom
- you are clear about your boundaries and he will respect them, even if it pains him slightly
- but most of the time you just let him be his overprotective self and move on

- Ethan just...he just loves you
- after what happened with Mia he has no interest in letting you leave his line of sight
- he'll sit beside you with his hand on your thigh
- he'll have his arm around you while you're talking to the neighbors
- even years after the events at the Baker house, having you near him has become a habit he has no intention of breaking
- he just really wants to make sure that you're alright
- he stands up for you at all times
- he rarely lets you leave the bed in the morning, just so he gets a few extra minutes with you
- after the Baker house, he eventually does have to start going back to work and you were only able to take a couple weeks off
- that's the hardest part for him
- he texts you a lot just random tidbits of his day and they're always really witty one liners cause he's just l i k e t h a t
- he tries not to be overbearing
- he just loves to coexist with you
- which means sometimes he has his arms wrapped around you completely

Chris Redfield
- Chris is the only of the three who's embarrassed by how much he needs you near him
- he's lost far too many people to let you out of his sight
- even the simple things like walking down the street makes him nervous if he's not right next to you
- hell, he lost men when he was right next to them
- he just wants to have a strong arm around you, to let you know he isn't going to let anything hurt you
- he really does try not to bother you too much
- but he can't help it if his lips end up on your neck or his hand on your side
- that's just magnetic attraction obviously
- he's a big guy and gives the best hugs so you never mind having his arms wrapped around you
- sometimes you'll have full phone conversations with your head on his chest and his arms tightly around your figure
- he wouldn't want it any other way after all
- if you tell him to back off he will try
- but he makes no promises

I watched the Monster Hunter movie...
Ripped from twitter:
"So I'm finally watching the Monster Hunter movie and one thing that's stuck out to me is the disrespect shown to the monsters. It sounds weird, but in the games, they're treated with respect to an extent. They're often graceful, and when they're dead, they have their eyes closed. But in this movie, they just cut a Nerscylla's head in half, longways, showing it's brain and it's like, ew. Really doesn't feel like Monster Hunter at all. There's no charm here, no humour, nothing but a gritty, gross movie honestly.
And there's no colour here, at all. The movie's (so far) set in a desert environment, meaning you're just looking at this for two hours.

It hurts my eyes. The monsters are the only thing not sand coloured, and they're all black or dark grey. Compared to the games where they're usually bright and vibrant. In the movie, the Nerscylla is just a black spider. It doesn't even have the same body shape either.
The most charming thing about this movie so far is the Hunter playing with velcro because if you'd forgotten this movie has military bullshit too
Speaking of disrespecting the monsters again, in the games, to put a monster to sleep, you can use a tranq dart, or a coating, and it's relatively non-violent. In the movie, the Hunter shoots and arrow into a Diablos' eye, and we see it close-up with gore and pus flying out of it. This is exactly what I'm talking about.

You never actually see the monster parts in the games, so it's not gory at all. A bit of blood comes out as you fight them but it's not like this. This is just gross.
COLOUR! Only an hour and a half in, but there's some colour finally!
oh... again, the games never show dismemberment like this:

Horns, sure, tails, sure, but you never see shit like beheadings in the games. The series is relatively light in tone and this movie just drags its message of living together with nature through the mud.
The only reason you hunt in the games is to protect the ecosystem and keep it in check, and even then you can just capture them instead of killing them.

This is the best thing in the movie, by far. The 10 second clip of Ron Perlman accusing the Meowscular Chef of drinking from his mug was a glimmer of actual MH.
So, uh, that Monster Hunter Movie... disappointing? Yeah. As mentioned earlier, the games have an element of respect for the monsters you hunt. You may not notice it, but every time you fell one, they ALWAYS have their eyes closed. They're meant to be feared, but respected. And the movie just misses that memo completely. Killing the monsters in some gnarly ways left a bad taste in my mouth. The whole movie felt gross in a lot of ways. Not only a disrespect towards the monsters but to the series at large. That sounds harsh but it's what I felt. The games are dumb, over the top action games with a ton of humour and charm. There was maybe 2 scenes in the entire 2 hour long movie that had even a drop of charm. It felt too dark, too serious, and I'm severely disappointed that Capcom let this movie happen. The series has so much potential for extended media. I know the Resi movies did well financially, but they were critically panned, especially by fans. It felt like a lazy cash-grab and just goes to show that money talks. Even Capcom, a company I respect a lot aren't immune to it.

Jupiter’s top 10 horror games for Quarantine (or any other time)
Disclaimer here, that I watch a lot more lets plays of horror games than I do play them myself, because I’m a big wuss, so these recs are based on atmosphere and story more than they are gameplay mechanics. That said, I haven’t recc’d anything where I know the actual mechanics to be miserable.
I’ve given a content warning for one game which deals with mental health issues in a way I know to be triggering for some people but it should go without saying that as horror games all of these contain at least some potentially squicky or triggering content. If you want more detailed warnings, hit me up and I’ll be happy to provide them. Oh, and I won’t say that there’s no jump scares in here, but there’s no games which rely on jumpscares as a regular mechanic, because that’s just lazy writing.
Soma

One of the rare games that really is as clever as it thinks it is, Soma is a hauntingly creepy slice of hard sci-fi with a lot to say on the nature of consciousness, hope, and nihilism. It also has an optional no monsters mode, which I’d recommend personally. It doesn’t detract from the atmosphere one bit, and it makes the game accessible for people with motor issues by removing the QTEs.
Resident Evil VII

I’m not usually an action-horror fan, but this is brilliantly atmospheric and charmingly weird in a way that’s uniquely Resi. Fun gameplay and a story that’s just the right balance of compelling and utter nonsense blend surprisingly smoothly with an atmosphere of old school horror.
Outlast

I know I know, horror set in asylums has been done to death and has some really fucked up origins, but hear me out on this one. Outlast takes genre tropes and character beats that have been done a million times before and elevates them. Mostly by having a main character who makes entirely reasonable decisions. Yes he sneaks into the creepy hospital at night (albeit for a good reason) but the minute he figures out he’s in a fucking horror story, his only motivation is to gtfo and that makes everything he goes through relatable in a way horror protagonists rarely are.
Little Nightmares

I have limited patience for the use of child protagonists in horror stories, but like Inside (below) Little Nightmares gets around this aversion by having some of the best art direction I’ve ever seen, no cutesy child dialogue (no dialogue at all in fact) and atmosphere by the bucket load. It’s Limbo by way of Gormenghast and I urge you to try it for the stunning art if nothing else.
Pathalogic 2

My mutuals will already know how much I adore the Pathlogic series (I may or not be planning to get a Pathalogic tattoo). Honestly the original is a more effective horror game, but it’s also badly translated and janky to the point of being more or less unplayable. 2 fixes most of the jank, and only those few weirdos who actually remember the first one would ever think it was lacking anything. This is a series totally unlike anything else you’ve ever played, and it’s worth your time. It’s unlikely you’ll ever play another game with quite this much thought behind it again.
Verde Station

This game was made in response to a challenge - to make a horror games that doesn’t use darkness. It’s also the only one of these recs that comes with a major content warning - if you suffer from false memories, lost time, or dissociation, take care when playing this game. It’s only a couple of hours long, but it’s probably the greatest use of gameplay mechanics as storytelling I’ve ever seen. The Charnel House Trilogy

This is probably the game on this list the least people have heard of, but it’s well worth checking out. Great voice acting, plenty of black humour, and the best representation of what it feels like to be at home by yourself with only your paranoia for company since Gone Home.
Deadly Premonition

Did you watch Twin Peaks and think “wait I thought this was supposed to super weird, and also I really wish the main character would stop hitting on highschoolers’? Good news, Japanese auteur game director Swery is here to show David Lynch how it’s done. It holds the Guinness world record for the most polarised game reviews ever, so when I say you’ll either love it or you’ll hate it, I really do mean that. Personally I love it.
Pony Island

Yes IMSCARED did the meta horror first, and Doki Doki Literature Club did the reveal better, but Pony Island is a brilliantly weird not particularly scary little meta horror game, full of nicely realised little details and fun puzzle gameplay.
Inside

The only other exception to my children in horror rule (don’t @ me Inside the Sleep fans), Inside is an absolute masterclass in non-verbal storytelling. From the first moment, when your player character cowers away from a threat you didn’t even know was a threat yet, this is a story told in lighting and body language. If you’ve ever wondered what ‘show don’t tell’ really means to writing, this is it.

(captions~) Well, today’s Daily House winded up being a Lazy Resi-  Wait, he’s a Jock!?  Uuughhh, this is too hard to keep track of!
Anyway, that joke inside, I chose Boots because I wanted to play around with crops again!
I also focused on the color green for all his equipment.  Originally I had a leaf pile in front of the trash can to imply it was overflowing with fall leaves, but it blocked the crops, which I didn’t want to move back any further.
This build went really smoothly, so I’m glad~
pic 1: "Hmm, a farm?  Sounds easy enough!” Croissant smiled. pic 2: "Well, start with me!" Croissant smiled, escorting the alligator over to the discussion table. pic 3: "Will do!" Croissant smiled. pic 5: This looked like a great place for a farm!  Big space and one layer~ pic 6: ...I did not give him any such place. pic 7: "Wait, pumped?" Croissant blinked, just realizing Boots was actually a Jock. pic 8: I did make one of the two green pumpkins grown later, but that was the last thing I noticed before finishing, lol. pic 9: Showing off that I used the crop design (that I had downloaded before the pumpkin update) underneath the wheat! pic 10: I went with a shot of the crops for the photo!
