Undercover agent! Neil and lawyer! Andrew would be the best fanfiction premise. It would be post canon and Neil ends up becoming an FBI agent and Andrew works as a defense attorney for foster kids and rape victims.

The moriyamas attempt to kill Andrew as a warning but they fail and Neil teams up with the FBI to take them down. Maybe Neil retires from exy in his early 30s and becomes one the the best undercover agents. Not because he would not be a well known person but because he would have kept up the Nathaniel persona in order to continue taking down organized crime(Child trafficking rings specifically).

Andrew obviously becomes one of the best exy players ever and retires well before he needs to because he doesn’t need exy like Kevin and Neil do. Andrew works cases for free 100% of the time because he a. Was one of the best exy players and has a bunch of money from that and b. Is married to the other best exy player who also has a high paid job as an FBI agent ( also c. So that other foster kids and victims of rape have good legal representation without going into debt).

I can’t get over how funny I find it when I look through the AFTG AUs on AO3 and every single one tags Andrew’s job but no one tags Neil’s job because because in a ‘normal’ circumstance we’ve all collectively decided he’s just that one strange guy everyone knows who shows up places and always seems to have an abundance of money but is never actually doing anything apart from stress-running and looking out of windows suspiciously

Okay so in my last Kevin post, I mentioned I have analysis' on how Kevin isn't a coward and how his trauma still affects him and you guys wanted to read it so here!

Why Kevin Day Isn’t a Coward: 

Essentially this comes down to 3 specific points in the fandom and even in the books since people are very adamant about the whole coward thing. The two things that people (in book and fandom-wise) use to argue that Kevin is a coward are: 

Kevin is still afraid/ doesn’t stand up to Riko 

That he left Jean behind in the nest.

Starting off with the first point. Kevin is still afraid and doesn’t stand up to Riko for the majority of the books. Firstly, we need to understand that Kevin has been abused from an extremely young age in the Nest and was conditioned into thinking that kind of behaviour was normal. And by that I mean specifically Riko’s abuse but before that, it was Coach Moriyama that abused both of them. 

He was stuck in the Nest for over a decade where his only role was “property” the entire time. That was all he would ever be to them and additionally to that, he wasn’t even allowed to be better than Riko. His entire life from the very start has been about exy but it was only after his mothers death where it became life or death. 

During tfc when Neil finds out how Kevin’s hand really broke Wymack says “But the day Kevin stops playing forever is the day he dies. He has nothing else. He wasn't raised to have anything else. Do you understand? We cannot lose to the Ravens this year. Kevin won't survive it."

He wasn’t raised to have anything else, exy is quite literally his everything, and without it, he has nothing and nobody. In this same scene, Wymack says, “Kevin doesn't talk about his time at Evermore, but I could tell it wasn't the first time Riko or Moriyama laid a hand on him. It was just the first time Kevin was smart enough to pack his bags and walk away.”

We never find out in detail what exactly happened to Kevin in the Nest but in TRK when Neil goes there we can see how deluded and obsessed Riko is with Kevin.

Neil moved up alongside him and regretted it almost immediately. Postcards of faraway cities both foreign and domestic were taped to the walls. Beneath each one were scraps of paper. Kevin's now-familiar scrawl listed dates and explanations for the travels. Most of them were games. Some indicated photo shoots and interviews. Books lined the shelves built into the headboard and Neil knew from skimming the spines they were Kevin's. Kevin was majoring in history for reasons Neil couldn't understand; these dry titles were the sorts of things he would find fascinating. It gave Neil chills to see his space preserved like this. It was like Kevin had gone out on an errand, not that he'd transferred to another team entirely.

Riko is so sure that Kevin is going to come back to him because he’s instituted such fear into him, he doesn’t think Kevin has the strength to stand up to him. Which he does, but people don’t seem to realise you can’t undo over a decade's worth of trauma overnight. 

Anyway, during Neil’s time in the Nest, he’s treated very similarly to how Kevin would be considering he was in his place but also not as harsh because they had to send Neil back to the Foxes inevitably.

"I am going to love hurting you," Riko said, "like I loved hurting Kevin."

What follows this is Riko tying Neil down and torturing him with a switchblade. By the time Neil leaves the Nest he doesn’t remember anything from the experience- he was so traumatised by it that he doesn’t remember it at all. (It also kinda sucks how Neil gets more sympathy for being in the nest for 2 weeks than Kev did for being there for over a decade.)

Putting this into perspective, Kevin went through that for so much longer and doesn’t get nearly enough of the same sympathy Neil did. Neil returned and Kevin got punched for letting him go even though he tried persuading Neil not to. Kevin has always had Neil’s best interest at heart. 

Kevin shook his head and bulled on when Neil started to argue. "The master wants to salvage you. He's going to sign you to the Raven lineup in spring. So long as you keep quiet and keep your head down he won't tell the main family he's found you." "I'm not a Raven," Neil said. "I never will be." "Then run," Kevin insisted, low and frantic. "It's the only way you'll survive."

Kevin was willing to sacrifice the only chance he had to prove his autonomy to the Moriyamas if it meant Neil would be safe. Without Neil, they wouldn’t have enough players to qualify and they wouldn’t be able to play at all. (Again: “But the day Kevin stops playing forever is the day he dies. He has nothing else. He wasn't raised to have anything else. Do you understand? We cannot lose to the Ravens this year. Kevin won't survive it.")

Not to mention the whole “Kevin was silent for an endless minute, then said, "You should be Court." It was barely a whisper, but it cut Neil to the bone. It was a resentful goodbye to the bright future Kevin had wanted for Neil. Kevin recruited Neil because he believed in Neil's potential. He brought him to the Foxes intending to make a star athlete out of him. Despite his condescending attitude and his dismissals of Neil's best efforts Kevin honestly expected Neil to make the national team after graduation.

And even after that, he promised to teach Neil, because at the end of the day, Neil was still Neil and he never gave up on him once.

And Neil understood that being on the run for 8 years was more preferable to the Nest. 

“But all Neil had to do was look at Kevin to know he would have hated that life 

too.”

Sorry I kinda went off track there anyway we can also see how much Riko’s presence still affects Kevin especially in scenes like the Kathy Ferdinand show. 

“Any animosity Neil felt toward Kevin for forcing him onto this show evaporated. He couldn't be angry when Riko was here, not when Riko was to Kevin what Neil's father was to him. Petty anger had nothing on this full-fledged terror.”

Obviously, we all know what a dickhead Neil’s dad was to him so Neil comparing the fear of his father being similar to Kevin’s fear of Riko is so important because it just puts into perspective how afraid Kevin is here face-to-face with his abuser the first time since said abuser permanently disabled him.

But what I don’t think is that Kevin has been standing upto Riko since the start because right after this when they were backstage, Kevin physically stopped Riko from hurting Neil even if it meant getting hurt by Riko again.

A black look twisted Riko's expression into something ugly and unrecognizable. He reached for Neil, but Kevin caught his arm to stop him. Riko slammed his elbow back into Kevin's face without missing a beat.

This scene is probably the best to describe how downright afraid Kevin is of Riko but there are others when Kevin has multiple panic attacks at just the thought of Riko or being in the same vicinity as him and rightfully so! Riko abused him, manipulated him and then took away the only thing he had. And Kevin was just forced to think this was okay. 

And a lot of characters and fans see his fear as cowardice instead of a normal trauma response. This is also because Neil tends to speak out more against Riko than Kevin (You know I get it…) but unlike Neil, Kevin has had direct repercussions towards him for the “mistake” of talking back to Riko which of course makes him hesitant. 

He knows the Moriyamas could drag him back at any moment and he's terrified of that happening.

Which leads to the second bit of “Kevin doesn’t stand up to Riko.” when many times, he has.

The most prominent example is in TRK, just after the foxes lost their first match to the ravens.

“You have fallen so far, Kevin. You should have stayed down and saved us the trouble of forcing you back to your knees." "I'm satisfied," Kevin said. It was the last response any of the Foxes expected from him. They forgot about Riko in favor of gaping at Kevin. "Not with their score or performance, but with their spirit. I was right. There's more than enough here for me to work with."

Kevin chose the foxes over the ravens- over Riko. He doesn’t allow their loss to become something Riko can use against him but instead something to affirm his current standing with them. This is also the first game Andrew played without his meds meaning he’s crashed by the end of it.

Kevin distracted the Ravens from Andrew's unsteadiness by facing them.

Kevin willingly turned to talk to his ex-abuser and his team if it meant Andrew wouldn’t be under fire. Most people only see Kevin and Andrew as Andrew protecting Kevin but Kevin protected Andrew just as much.

And of course we have the whole tattoo removal and the last exy match against the foxes but I need everyone to understand that those are so so so important. Kevin spent the entire series save the last quarter of the last book viewing himself as Riko’s property. Riko refers to him as such and even without Riko near him, his control is still strong over Kevin.

So Kevin removing his tattoo and replacing it with something with a higher hierarchical structure than Riko’s status as king is so detrimental, it’s a turning point for him because he’s viewing himself as his own person now. And Kevin scoring the winning goal brings us full circle because the last time he did that with Riko, he ended up disabled and shunned.

This brings me to my second point about Kevin running away from the nest. Alot of people see Kevin escpaing from the nest and leaving behind Jean as an act of cowardice. This bit gets a bit complicated because in no way shape or form am I trying to compare trauma’s or anything like that.

But to continue on. The ravens had a very strict policy that we got to see during Neil's experience one of which being that no matter how injured they were, they were still expected to show up to practice. The more mistakes they made the more punishment they'd find themselves in. Not showing was practically a death wish.

Now Kevin having his hand fucking broken would mean thay either he doesn't practise and get punished or practise with his fucked up hand and further damage it. If he stayed I wholeheartedly believe he would've died.

He ran away to save his life and that will never be cowardice not once. He didn't go to Wymack immediately when he found out because he knew what kind of target he'd paint on Wymacks back.

"He was trying to protect him," Neil said. "If Coach knew Kevin was his son, he'd have tried to take him from Edgar Allan." Nicky grimaced. "They'd have never let Kevin go." 

He only left when he had no other option. He had nothing left, the one thing he did have was taken away from him, he had no purpose and for once Riko didn't care enough about him to pay attention. And he used that to run.

Leaving Jean behind was something he always regretted, but it was a game of survival. Jean was a gift to the Moriyamas, he was also property to them and couldn't leave. And if the roles were reversed I strongly believe Jean would've done the same thing.

Also Kevin finds a place for him layer with the trojans because he knew that being a fox wouldn't be good for him.

"He isn't safe with us," Kevin said. "I won't give him false hope."

Staying in the nest would've been suicide for Kevin. He's one of the biggest victims in the series but nobody talks about it enough I fear and there's so much to learn about him via context clues etc.

And the saddest thing in my opinion is that Kevin knew was it was like to be loved, he was raised by his mother for a few years before going to the Moriyamas. 

ANYWAY to conclude, I suck at essays and I hope I've worded everything well and what I'm trying to say gets across. Kevin is not a coward, never has been a coward and never will be. He's survived through such a damaging and abusive environment only to get moved to a separate environment where everyone just ridicules his defense tactics and he has no real sense of support. 

His reasons for what he does always stems from the fact the he doesn't want to go back to being under Riko and Coach Moriyamas "care" and that he's afraid. And most of the time it's things he can't shake from the nest.

Like when he pushes the foxes its so they're always at their best and so none of them get hurt or punished for mistakes. He pushed himself the hardest because he doesn't want to directly affect his teammates. 

Or the celebrity persona he was forced to develop.

Or how he makes sure everyone is staying healthy and that they don't force themselves to play when sick or injured because he knows what it's like to be forced to play like that day after day. 

AND IVE GONE OFF COURSE AGAIN yeah I kinda mashed together both analysis' of how Kevin's trauma from the nest affects him and how he's not a coward into one thing AND THIS IS SUPER LONG so if ur still here thank you very much for reading I really hope this makes sense

In the future when Andrew and Neil are happy, in love and married, Andrew would often use divorce as a threat. He is of course not serious. He won't say out loud that they are forever. 

But Neil felt in the way he would sometimes stare at him unblinking, soft, unguarded. The look that says: “Nobody will take me away from you and nobody will take you away from me. I will hold onto you with legs and arms and if I lose those I will use my teeth, I will be feral, I will be brutal, I will let out the monster they thought of me to stay with you.”

Anyway he usually threatens Neil with divorce, whenever Neil is impossibly irritating. He of course knows Andrew doesn't mean it. And Andrew exists in a perpetual state of irritation because of that. On one hand he likes that Neil realizes they are serious and Andrew will never walk away.

On second hand, Have dare Neil not take his threat seriously??? How dare he roll his eyes and scoff with a smile??? How dare he dismiss Andrew with a wave of hand and “yeah yeah sure darling”????

That being said, it irritates Andrew so much that he decided to do something about it, to wipe that smirk off Neil’s face.

And now whenever Neil and Andrew are arguing and Andrew threatens with divorce the next day Neil is forced to do the shame dance of calling their lawyer and being like 

“No, no, do not process that petition for divorce Andrew sent you. I know he wrote in his email that this time he is serious. Yes I know he wrote that he is “Serious serious SERIOUS” I know he wrote that three times and this is something he doesn't usually do. I know. He also sent you second divorce papers this morning? in fax??? we don't have a fax machine??? … no, no, don't process these documents either.”

All while Andrew sits nearby, looking at him smugly in silence.

i see a lot of opinions (wrong ones) about Andrew and how aggressive he is but...me...on the other hand...like fuck the knives (a preucation that he takes to feel safe and hasn't used to hurt anyone but only threaten (if I'm remembering the books correctly)

one of my favourite headcanons is that andrew in fact does not go pro and instead becomes a lawyer. i don't understand people who say he goes pro because it seems so just not right for him? but each to their own. in my opinion he studies law further and becomes a really successful lawyer <3

and the prosecution asking andrew well who else knows? and when andrew says just neil, luther and betsy (maybe partially renee as well, not by name, idk) they’re like why neil? why tell him?

he asked.

and the lawyer asks well, if someone else had asked, would you have told them?

under oath andrew says yes. because it’s the truth. if anyone cared enough to ask, cared enough to get to know him, he would tell them. but neil was the only one who asked.

would he have said “drake did xyz to me” no i don’t think so but if kevin had asked him something. in his high state, would he have been amused by kevin’s face when he tells him? (and maybe kevin already knows. maybe he’s smart enough to know without asking) but nobody knows how to ask. neil didn’t ask why do you hate the word please. neil didn’t ask what the word please ever did to him.

he knew the right question to ask and andrew answered.

Objectively, Neil knew Andrew needed to stop smoking. Except the acrid smell of a burning cigarette was something so deeply Andrew, that Neil had no idea how to get him to stop. They were well past making deals so he couldn't pull the same stunt he did with cracker dust (he also couldn't buy him another maserati - Stuart would kill him) and he wouldn't trivialize whatever "this" was by giving Andrew an ultimatium. So he watched.

He watched Andrew gradually turn into something of a chain smoker over the summer. If there wasn't a racquet in the man's hand, it was a cigarette. It took him until September to piece together why; Aaron's trial was set for October and the twins had started meeting with Aaron's lawyer in June. Kevin and Wymack had tried talking to Andrew and were both met with a blank stare. When Kevin tried again at night practice, Andrew threatened to break his own hand if Kevin brought it up again. The rest of the Foxes had picked up on the new tension between the two and did their best to stay out of it.

Things came to a head after their first game. Renee had to step in as dealer after Dan took a nasty hit and the new goalie sub wasn't up to Kevin's impossible standards yet, so Andrew played the full game. The stress of the season opener was only compounded by the possibility of Moriyama men watching from the sideline. There was a small chance there were there and an even smaller one that they'd act out against Neil or Kevin, but Andrew locked down the goal anyways.

When the final buzzer rang out, 11-0 in the Foxes' favour, Neil jogged over to meet Andrew in net. He was startled to find Aaron already there - he usually went right to the cheerleaders. Seeing Aaron rip off Andrew's helmet had Neil switching into a run. He heard Andrew before he got to the net and god he sounded awful. Andrew's body was shaking with each rattling cough he let out. Each one sounded like it was being ripped from his chest, deep and throaty. Aaron must've heard him coughing throughout the game. As a backliner he spent far more time closer to Andrew than Neil ever did as a striker. Neli flicked an alarmed glance at Aaron, who was watching his twin with a mixture of anger and concern. Even Andrew, ever calm, seemed distressed at his body's betrayal as another cough shook his frame. Neil shifted to stand beside Andrew, allowing the goalie to lean into him for support. His legs screamed at the added weight but he would carry it a hundred times over if it meant taking some of the world off of Andrew's shoulders.

"You need to stop smoking." Aaron said in German.

It took Andrew a few tries to catch his breath in between coughs before he managed to bite out a hoarse "no" in response.

Aaron looked at Neil for help and found none. This was officially a Minyard argument. Neil had gotten in the middle of enough of those to know to stay out when he could.

"Listen to yourself. This was one game against a shit team. How do you expect to play the rest of the season if this is what happens?" Andrew's silence pushed Aaron to drive the knife deeper. "What happens when you can't play anymore because you've officially killed your lungs? Are Kevin and Neil going to be offed by the fucking mafia because our team has a shit goalie?"

Andrew's eyes, which had been roaming the crowd for anything to distract himself from Aaron's tirade, snapped back to glare at Aaron. Undetterred, Aaron pressed on.

"If you stop smoking, I'll stop dust. Deal?" Privately, Neil was shocked that Aaron would offer such a thing. Dust was the last drug he clung to from his past life and he downed it like a drowning man every Friday.

There was a brief pause before Andrew spoke.

"Deal."

The next morning Neil found 5 boxes of cigarettes in the dorm's garbage can. He picked up a few niccotine patches and pints of ice cream on his run, placing the latter in the freezer when he returned. If half of the pints were Aaron's favourite flavour, he pretended not to notice.

1. Not Enough to Save You: (Wolfstar) Look, don’t ask me how many times I’ve reread my Remus Lupin is Joan of Arc fic. I feel like this needs no other pitch. Remus Lupin is Joan of Arc. Sirius is a princess who falls in love with her. The pen was on fire the entire time I was writing this. I’m really proud of the prose all the way through, especially the smut. If my chef’s special is smut described through beautiful figurative language, this fic is my 5 Michelin star tasting menu.

2. Tough, Tried, True Blue: (Wolfstar) The long fic of my heart!!! My pitch for this fic is that the next time you get the urge to comfort reread the Harry Potter books, you should read this instead. I’m basically writing the kids books I would have wanted to read that would have saved me a lot of time figuring out that I liked girls. It’s simultaneously deeply nostalgic about the OG books and deeply hostile towards JKR.

3. stupid and alive: (AFTG) So this fic is basically a courtroom drama and I’m the lawyer and Nora Sakavic is the witness and I cross examine her until she breaks on the stand Legally Blonde style. Except it’s actually just a deep character study of Andrew Minyard. I reread this a little while ago, and I don’t want to brag, but that is the point of this ask so. The prose in this fic fucking rips. Like, I was really on some shit. I also think the therapy scene in chapter two is some of my favorite dialogue I’ve ever written. I had a point to make and I made it, everyone clapped.

4. The College Years: (The Atlas Six) Of course I have a soft spot for this fic because it was the first fic I ever wrote and it was co-written with @capacity-for-wonder. We had too much fun writing this, and everyone should read it and then gaslight Mel into thinking that she enjoys writing! She’s very good at it! Essentially I wanted to write The Raven Cycle but Maggie Steifvater already did that so I had to write this instead as the next best thing. The fact that we wrote this before reading any marauders fic is unbelievable, because this is also basically a marauders fic. If you like TRC and Marauders fic you should absolutely read this. You don’t even have to read Atlas Six first, because it’s a prequel.

5. Immaculate Conception (Girls Kissing Remix) (Wolfstar) Sapphic horror fever dream based on an AU from Claude’s (@achilleslikespeas) incredible brain? Yes please! This fic is like a little Neapolitan ice cream treat. The vanilla is sapphic Wolfstar, the chocolate is a demon baby, and the strawberry is religion. They finger bang in the church basement! Need I say more?

People calling Kevin toxic for andriel are we reading the same series???

Did you miss Kevin taking care of Andrews's meds which is such a trusting thing on Andrew's behalf because he's gone his life doing things alone but now Kevin's offered to help and not interfere in Andrews's life and business and RESPECTING HIS BOUNDARIES???

Did you miss Kevin threatening Neil to tell him his actual condition and NOT the "I'm fine" bullshit he's constantly saying.

Did you miss Kevin being the FIRST person to see something in Andrew? Even before Neil did, not his cousin, not his brother not the system but Kevin fucking Day saw something in him and promised to give him something to structure his life around??? Kevin believed in him whether on not Andrew was on his meds.

Did you miss Kevin telling Neil to run away when he finds out his identity because he doesn't want Neil to be caught back up with the Moriyama's. It's too late for Kevin to escape, he's been under the limelight for years now and Exy is the only thing he'd been brought up to know. But he wanted Neil to run even if it meant the Foxes couldn't qualify to play he was willing to give up the thing cared most about to keep Neil safe.

What if Neil decided to study law or something in that field to help kids in situations like his, but with a little bit of a sassy mouth

Kid: Help my mom and I are running away from my dad because he wants to sell me.

Neil: To the moriyamas? Do they want to sell you to become an exy machine? Is your dad the butcher? I think not

picturing neil on the stand digging his nails into his thighs and grinding his teeth trying to not blow up, being so unfamiliar with this ugly kind of anger and rage in his own chest he’s only felt a few times before and not knowing how to stop seeing red

The prosecution are asking him all these questions and he knows if he answers them truthfully how they’re going to spin it to make Aaron look guilty. And if they started asking about Andrew?

“So you walked into the room. You saw Mr. Minyard’s brother on the bed. Was he engaged in a sexual act with the deceased?”

He grits his teeth and counts to ten in french in his head. It wasn’t sex, they know it wasn’t sex. “What I saw-”

“It’s a yes or no question, Mr. Josten.” The attorney crosses her arms. “Did you, or did you not, see a sexual act taking place when you kicked down the door?”

All he can see is skin and blood and a man three times the size of andrew. “Yes, ma’am, by definition, but it wasn’t-”

“And what in particular led you to believe this was something non-consensual?” She paces the floor, interrupting him with an outstretched hand and a pen between her fingers. “You saw two men having sex, and you let your racquet go. Mr. Minyard claims to be certain his brother was being attacked, but is it possible either of you just… misunderstood what you were seeing?”

Neil hears misunderstood leave her lips and he feels the pit in his stomach opening wide. His eyes are begging to search for andrew, but he can’t look nervous. He can’t look angry. He can’t look away. “I saw Andrew covered in blood. I knew who Drake was.”

“Aaron didn’t.” She says, like it’s obvious. “So how did you know, and not his twin brother?”

“Because he told me.”

“He told you? Just like that?” She places some papers down in front of neil, but he doesn’t look. He won’t be able to read it anyway. His vision is too blurry with anger and frustration. “Who else knew?”

“Luther.” He spits his name out like it’s nothing.

“Luther Hemmick.” She pretends to ponder it. “Anyone else?”

“How is this relevant?” He doesn’t mean to snap, but he turns towards the judge who just tells him to answer the question anyways. “I don’t know after that.”

“Do you think he told his therapist?” The defense calls for speculation. “Do you know for certain that he told his therapist, Ms. Dobson?”

“No, I don’t.” He knew he did, there was no doubt about it, but Andrew had never outright told him that. There was no way to say it for certain in a way that a jury would accept.

“Any other friends on the team that you know he told?”

Neil shakes his head. “No, ma’am.”

“But he told you.” She looks over her shoulder towards Aaron for just a second. Neil doesn’t need to look at Andrew to know that he’s somewhere behind him. “And not his brother.”

“They don’t-” He could feel the cages of her trap crashing down around him. She hadn’t even needed to ask the question. Fuck. Fuck, fuck, fuck. He tries to break himself out. “Andrew doesn’t talk about his time in the system with anyone. Aaron’s not special.”

“And Nicholas told us that you had to convince Andrew to even be there in the first place. Mr. Josten, did you know before the night in question that Nicholas’ father was aware of Andrew’s allegations against Mr. Spear?”

The cage bars got smaller and smaller around him. “Yes.”

“So why try to convince him?”

To fix their family. But he can’t say that. He can’t say that.

The defense lawyer calls objection. Relevance? Andrew is not the one of trial here. The prosecution’s lawyer switches her line of questioning.

I don’t know. I can see Neil getting so frustrated with the prosecutors being prosecutors and just trying to find a way for him to say Aaron did it, him and Andrew hardly even talk, Aaron is guilty, Neil brought it up intentionally to kill Drake, Aaron is guilty, Aaron is guilty, Aaron is guilty.

SOLD!!! I meant that Neil gets a razzle-dazzle type spectacle, but yknow what he gets glasses too. Just for you.

We begin our AU as Chicago begins, with Andrew murdering someone and getting arrested for it. We deviate very soon however because the person Andrew murders is not a man Andrew is having an affair with, but rather his own mother, in true AFTG fashion. Andrew "All That Jazz"es her into an apartment and Boom. Dead. Nicky/Aaron tries to take the fall ("Funny Honey") because Andrew's already been to jail once, so would have a harsher punishment, but Andrew isn't having it and confesses.

So Andrew is shipped off to the Foxhole Penitentiary, run by one David Wymack, Master of Murderers. Cue "When You're Good To Mama". Wymack only has this role because I'm pretty sure the other Foxes would be all the Merry Murderesses. (Side note: there is a fic on Ao3 that's just a Foxes!parody of the Cell Block Tango. If I find it I will link it here.) No idea who is Velma Kelly yet, possibly Renee. Possibly also Aaron!!

Andrew is awaiting trial. Wymack links him up with the best lawyer in town. Who is it? None other than NEIL JOSTEN of course!! (Cue "All I Care About"). He's smooth, confident, mysterious, and a shark from head to toe. He rolls into his first meeting with Andrew, looks him up and down, and the gears start turning.

"So, Andrew, what are you going to tell the jury?"

"Nothing."

"Come on, Mr Minyard, you have to tell them something!"

"No I don't."

"Here's what I'm thinking: you're an orphan. Grew up in a monastery, never seeing the outside world. Young and delicate. Upon turning 18 you were released to the streets and were tempted by drugs and alcohol and women, until you learned the error of your ways! Then-"

"No."

"Well what do you have?"

"I killed Tilda Minyard."

"....We'll work on it."
