Two years ago Laura was writing history books when her #YoSí (#EuSim) was awarded as the #BestOriginalSong at Golden Globes! The ballad was part of the Sophia Loren movie #LaVitaDavantiAse (#netflix).

As the important Oscar night approaches a new Remix version of Io Sí has been released! I’m really loving it! 

The Academy #awards will he held on April 25th so this upcoming Sunday and we will be excited to see if our #YoSi will be rewarded as the #BestOriginalSong. For Laura and Italy the #oscarnomination is however a slightly bigger deal. Why? Well let's find out, shall we?This is already the 12th nomination for the famous songwriter #DianeWarren but the very first one for Laura. Not many non-English songs have managed to become #nominated for #Oscars and this is the first time when a song sung in entirely Italian is nominated for the prestigious award. The same theme repeated itself already earlier this spring at the #GoldenGlobes when #MoiSi became the first non-English winning song as the Best Original Song and making Laura the first Italian artist ever to win a #GoldenGlobe!

#YoSí (#EuSim, #MoiSi) is a part of Netflix #movie #TheLifeAhead which brings back the iconic movie star Sophia Loren after a decade of absence from the big screen. The movie is directed by her son Eduardo Ponti whom she's collaborated now three times. Loren plays Rosa, a holocaust survivor who runs a day care to sex workers children. The other lead character Momo is refugee from Senegal who robs her but ends up living under her roof. The #Italian icon is already familiar to Laura before #LaVitaDavantiASe but due to the pandemic the two famous Italian women haven't been able to reunite in person.

But how did Laura end up being part of #LaVitaDavatinASe movie? Laura came along in the summer 2020 and she was very moved by the way #SophiaLoren and #IbrahimaGueye (Momo) were telling the story of the film. The idea of Laura singing the lead song came from #EduardoPonti and #DianeWarren. The ballad #YoSi (#EuSim, #MoiSi) was originally written in English by Warren but the movie needed the song to be sung in #Italian. The two women knew each other from way back, 20 years ago but their song didn't happen untill in 2020.

What it's like to write a song for story already being told in a movie compared to writing songs about yourself to your albums? According to Laura, difficult especially when it's being done from English to Italian and the main goal is to keep the original idea of "being seen" included. This has been one of the reasons why Laura has refused soundtrack projects as already written script limits the artistic freedom. This time however Laura felt the message of the #LaVitaDavantiAse important which she wanted to give her voice to. Laura felt responsability of her singing and interpretation as it would accompany many of the important moments of the movie. Niccolo Agliardi (En Cambio No, Bienvenido) helped her in the challenging task of translating the Diane Warren's original text to Italian.

Making promo for your new song is not the easiest of things to do during the world wide pandemic but Laura has managed quite well to do just that! She's performed in multiple occasions singing live her #Italian version of #YoSi (the song has been released in 5 different languages) accompanying by the piano. The real first live with full orchestra took place last March at San Remo.

Here comes the saviour of covid-autumn! Laura's new song Io Si (Seen) which is from the new Sohpia Loren movie La Vita Davanti A se will be released on Friday October 23rd! One week to go! There will not be only one version but five as the song will be released as besides the Italian version in English, Spanish, French and Portuguese also. This the only LP song ever been released entirely in so many languages (Inolvidable, 1996 and A simple vista, 2011 were released in 3-4 different languages). The song is especially made for Laura by the hit maker of our time Diane Warren and En cambio no-songwriter Niccolò Agliardi. This sounds like a ballad, and a good one!
