Not a question (again hshdj) but the doping debate about the 2 A's is so wild and left me with very little faith in humanity. Like, people get to see how noodle-hair really is and then pretend to act like she just only doped K*mila like please wake up from your delusions 😭😭😭
Like we know for a fact that those poor girls all train for a horrific twelve hours a day, and that Russia has a STATE SPONSORED doping program, an objective fact. That's literally just not feasible without drugs that enhance endurance and stamina, and that's exactly what was found in Kami's system!
Last year we had to witness a poor woman being unable to compete in the Olympics because she (god forbid) smoked a little bit of weed to cope with her mother dying. Jessica Calalang was banned from competition for almost a year because there was an illegal substance found in some makeup she used. Laurine Lecavelier was banned for four years for testing positive for cocaine. Meanwhile Rusfed has been coasting by for years, drugging their skaters, and even among fs fans ourselves, people are going 'well it must have just been Kami.' Everyone knew it was happening long before Kami's test came out. It's been an open secret forever. The level of delusion.

“Fans when Morgan Cipres is named as being investigated for child sex abuse in a detailed, well-researched, legally vetted report by a reporter known for her work in the area: Let's brainstorm all the ways he could possibly be innocent! Same fans when Laurine Lecavelier is named as failing a drug test in a two-paragraph gossip article by a random journalist based on an anonymous source that's not even from the FFSG: LOL, stupid druggie, write the bitch off! The double standard, it kills...“

My issue with “costume changes” in competitive programs
This is not targeted at the Eteri girls, I want y’all to know that I had a problem with this back when Laurine Lecavelier had a costume change with her Greece FS like three years ago. I’m not trying to bully the young girls, just explaining why this particular aspect of programs that happens to be in theirs bothers me.
Costume changes don’t sound like a bad idea on paper. And if executed well (and not in a competitive setting) I think they can be super impactful! The only competitive setting I can find a costume change to be appropriate is in Theatre on Ice, where the programs are designed to tell stories and be super on the nose with their interpretation. Even then, the changes rarely happen in clear sight of the audience. Typically, a prop will serve as a barrier between the audience and the skater switching looks. This keeps the flow of the programs and allows for the preformance to not be broken just to change the skater’s dress.
However, in plain old figure skating, props are NOT allowed in competition, meaning that if the skater wants to do a costume change, they have to deal with the functionalities right then and there, in front of the judges, in front of the audience, and furthermore, in front of broadcasted television. This will almost guarantee the preformance to break for a couple of seconds while the skater finds the clasps, undoes them, and then makes sure the “new dress” falls into place correctly. Anna’s change is the most blatant example I can think of in this regard.
The dresses designed for the “pre-reveal” almost always fit poorly, too, because they have to conceal a bunch of fabric. Laurine’s unclamped dress from her Grease FS had this exact problem, and it wasn’t until she undid her dress that I understood why it looked so bulky and frumpy.
I think that Sasha’s GoT program comes the closest to being a good costume reveal, only because she doesn’t have much of a preformance to break from in order to make the switch and both of the dresses look almost identical (honestly what was the point Danill?). Again, I don’t have a single problem with costume changes in EX programs where the lights are already colorful and dimmed, and the music chosen can be manipulated to make a blatant costume change work (think Zhenya’s Sailor Moon EX) or in a Theatre on Ice competition, but it’s really best to just not risk it and stick to a single, beautiful, well fitted dress.

“It's really sad to see people demanding that we treat Morgan Cipres as innocent until proven guilty when he pretty much admitted to his wrongdoing, but condemning Laurine Lecavelier straight away for something that is IMO a much lesser offence. Pretty telling, isn't it?“

World Figure Skating Championships Ladies SP Pt. 2
Alright, now for the major competitors. In this warm-up group (6!), we have Mariah Bell, Elizabet Tursynbaeva, Sofia Samodurova, Gabrielle Daleman, Eunsoo Lim and Laurine Lecavelier.
It’s great to see Gabrielle Daleman back. I know she had a rough time after the Olympics, so yay for her for coming back. She’s got a lot of speed. Not the cleanest performance but a good comeback after not competing for nearly a year. Very nice. She can build on that.
This was the kind of comeback performance I kind of wish Gracie had had. Not the best but a good confidence builder.
Eunsoo Lim is a very lovely skater.  I really like the delicacy of this program without it being slow and boring. Lots of speed and elegant movements. That was a fantastic performance. Wow, that’s a fabulous score!
Mariah is next. I’ve loved her since I saw her skate to Titanic a few years ago. It’s been wonderful the way she’s risen through the ranks and this year she has shown that she can compete well with the top competitors. Oh and I found out a couple of days ago that she’s dating Romain Posart, the French skater I like, so yay! Le amour! She landed all her jumps! I’m not the biggest fan of Adam Rippon but I do hope he continues choreographing. This is a well thought out program. What a time to peak! Raf was happy. Nice score! That’s excellent.
Now, Elizabet Turnsynbaeva is one of those skaters I’ve heard a lot about but I just haven’t been as impressed by. I think what it is is there is no warmth to her skating. Okay, choosing Moonlight Sonata doesn’t help, but Shoma Uno skates to the same song and puts so much power into it, you feel it in your bones. There’s no connection with Elizabet. She’s good, I’ll give her that. Wow, that’s high though.
Side note, the Gold Pass stream has apparently decided to measure everyone’s double axel. Why? I don’t know but it’s kind of funny.
Ah, Laurine Lecavelier. One of the French ladies I’ve come to enjoy. I like watching her, but she needs a better choreographer. This program had the makings of being a good one, it’s just off a bit. Not her best by any means but points for her on trying to sell it to the very end. She’ll qualify for the long programs but that’s still low.
Sofia Samodurova has been the surprise this season. She won the 2019 Europeans and did well during the Grand Prix. She still seems a little timid and juniorish to me, but this is a strong performance and she’s landing her jumps. She could use some refinement, but some of that comes with experience. Good for her. That score puts her in challenging position.
And Mariah ends the group in third! Yay!

You know what I love about Laurine Lecavelier?
Aside from her skating (which I adore), her costumes are what really draw me to her!
They all look so... handmade, is the best way I can put it. Not just like “ooh I got a custom made dress from [insert well known designer] that is kind of unique”, but in the way that they all look like she (or a close friend) MADE them for her.
They are all so intentional and have just such strong ideas behind them! Just look at her “Experience” dress from last season:
Tumblr media
It is so unique! The messy, intentionally half-hazard cut, painted text on the skirt, I could go on! It was not especially well received because of how untraditional it is, but by god if the thought isn’t there!
In a sport where image is so so important and very few like to stray from the given image of what an Ice Skater is, we need more Laurines!
