Title: "My Thresholds. My Shadow." . "Being able to solve a problem, any problem, is one of the most creative things a being can do." ~ LB . SWIPE TO SEE HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED ---> . While mentoring and tutoring my photography student @vxnphotography, we were challenged with one of the portfolio requests from a college. They said... "Choose one of these words (x,y,z), create something that speaks this word to you and show us how you did it." . After some discussion she chose "Threshold". Great choice ;). This world is on the verge of many thresholds... . THRESHOLD: "The magnitude or intensity that must be exceeded for a certain reaction, phenomenon, result, or condition to occur or be manifested" . We had the word and idea, now we needed a way so make it look real in an image. . This piece is one of her portfolios pieces that secured her place in not only a top school in the US but ranked the second best art school in the world, @parsons_thenewschool (by QS World University Rankings) & with a generous scholarship to boot! . Title: "Dinner with my Demons" . "Tutors do not do the work for the student, but rather guide them down the path into their own imagination..." ~ LB . One of the ⒽⒾⒼⒽⓁⒾⒼⒽⓉⓈ of my career as a photographer is instructing & co-creating with young photographers to build impressive portfolios for art school, with the US having some of the toughest art colleges to get in to. . Recently I had the privilege of tutoring & co-creating with my student @vanessanefve It is very easy to underestimate what's required since colleges ask for very complex assignments & want you to show HOW you think & conceptualize, over & above just pretty pictures. . After hours of digging in the heart, hard conceptualization, co-creating & planning, my student @vanessanefve carefully created this composite that consisted of her taking a series of 7 self portraits (done with her remote in hand), compiled to create this piece titled "Dinner with my Demons". . This piece took her hours & real effort to create but most of all it took courage & equananimy to put out such a moving piece. .
