Going back to the place where she lost everything is harder than she could ever imagine, yet there are people she will meet that will make the heartache all worth it. Follow me on my delusional rant for a second: we all know that stiles was kinda but not really obsessed with the hale fire yes?? What if he just a tiny bit more obsessed with it and less with Lydia. The sheriff turns a blind eye to this because this was the most lively his son had been since his mother died. The sheriff also can’t figure why this case doesn’t feel right to him, but if anyone can figure it out it’s his son.
He goes on a deep dive about the hales. There comes a point where he can’t access anymore information legally; so he goes to Danny to teach him how to hack. This gets Lydia attention but not enough to get her to help, yet.
So stiles learns and he hacks into the school database, the police, and generally every establishment that the hales have frequented. He finds a pattern of suspiciously missed full moons, high grocery bills the next morning. He finds Paige and Kate. He finds a paper trail to the fire.
He shows it to his dad. With this evidence the sheriff looks into the case. This is what causes Lydia to talk to stiles. She pulls up to his house the very next morning the sheriff reopens the case. She liked Cora and would do anything to get the person who killed her. This cause a deeper dive of obsession. Together they look into the supernatural side of beacon hills. They find Lydia’s grandmother, and Lydia is able to understand what she is before it becomes a problem.
I’m a Stiles and Lydia sibling truther. They become that duo. Just over all becoming the pretty twins of beacon hills.
Lydia gets familiar ties to the stilinskis. Something that she doesn’t get at home. The sheriff loves her, absolutely dotes on her. He’s always wanted a daughter. Stiles becomes far more confident and comfortable in his skin. They have spa days and sleepovers. Stiles lets Lydia practice makeup on him. Lydia has her own room at the Stilinski’s, it becomes a safe haven for her.
They both watch over the sheriffs diet like hawks; fast food places are terrified when the sheriff comes in to order food. “No sheriff, I actually can’t give you a double burger because I’m still traumatized from your kids”. Lydia creates a binder of healthy meals, while stiles cooks them. (Lydia cannot cook)
Stiles comforts her when Jackson is being a dick. Stiles becomes frienimes with Jackson. When Jackson swings by the house the sheriff quietly brings out his gun and cleans it in front of him. Lydia pretends to be embarrassed but she’s absolutely glowing. Jackson also become close with the sheriff, especially after him and Lydia break up. (They were gay and lesbian solidarity)
With the amount of digging Stiles and Lydia did they would have figured out Peter was being poisoned. I also believe that they would have found Cora was still alive. This brings Laura and Derek back to beacon hills, starting the rise of the hale pack.
Like imagine season one Derek meeting confident stiles with lipstick. Your honour it’s over for him.
Derek still becomes an alpha after the alpha pack comes and he kills one of them. (I’m also a Alpha Derek hale truther)
Stiles and Lydia are both “little reds”
Derek and Cora being super fucking cocky that they’re mated to the pretty twins of beacon hills
The sheriff also cleans his gun in front of Derek and Cora. He’ll be damned doesn’t get to pull the protective father for his kids.
Anyway thanks for coming to my Ted talk

This post appeared again on my dash and it makes me smile every time, but this time I can't get the idea of a sterek version out of my head.
Imagine the Hale fire happened a week before school started and Derek didn't deal with it well. People would whisper behind his back or pity him and he hated it. Then he met Stiles, a chaotic ball of energy that barrelled into his life, treated him like anyone else, went on long rambling tangents, and made Derek smile.
They started dating and ended up getting married after graduation. But with every milestone that passed, Derek would think about his family. He wished his mum was in the crowd the day he graduated, he wishes his family could have met Stiles, wishes they could have gotten to know him, that they could have seen how he makes Derek smile.
At their wedding, they lay a flower on each of the seats that Derek's family would have filled.
On their honeymoon, Derek gets a call from Cora. She and Laura had been clearing out old boxes of stuff and she found a photo of the soccer team she and Derek played on when they were younger, and one of the kids in the photo looks just like Stiles.
Derek shows Stiles the photo and Stiles says, "Yeah, I was the goalie."
Later, when Derek is on the phone to Laura, he tells her about the photo and how he and Cora were on the same team as Stiles.
"I remember those games," Laura reminisces. "Mum and I used to watch the goalie - sweet kid. He would sit down in the goal and play in the dirt. Mum thought he was hilarious. She loved that kid."
Derek smiles as he looks at his husband and thinks, Yeah, I love him too.

Omg I feel like any teen wolf fic (sterek fic) you write would be amazing, on that topic ur an amazing writer and I’m glad that one day I stumbled upon one of your fics. And also speaking of sterek fics (or any teen wolf fic) do u have and recommendations on what to read for that fandom???
Okay, so I took my time with this one because I had read some, but not a lot... but oh boy, did I deep dive into the research to bring you some top tier Sterek Fic Recs.
TOP 20 STEREK RECS
Play It Again by metisket ***I LOVED THIS ONE***
In which Stiles goes along with one of Derek’s plans and ends up in an alternate universe as a result. He should’ve known better. He did know better, actually, and that means he has no one to blame but himself.
“Laura wants to lure the kid in with food and kindness and make a pet of him, like a feral cat. Derek wants to have him arrested for stalking. They’re at an impasse. (And the rest of the family is staying emphatically out of it in a way that suggests bets have been placed.)”
So Shed Your Skin and Lets Get Started by halfhardtorock
He's sixteen and in the woods on the wrong side of the town-line and he's so fucking fucked.
He knows he's not supposed to run, they teach that to you in preschool (don't run from a Were, back away slowly and walk with care), but they never told you how it would feel, standing alone in the dark with your heart beating in your throat as those glowing eyes tracked you from the shadows.
Don't Feed the Wolves by Amazonia_8
Stiles took the dare, because what else was he supposed to do when the whole lacrosse team was chanting his name? Even though the werewolf pack had left Beacon Hills years ago, nobody was stupid enough to set foot on the Hale property.
Except, apparently, Stiles.
Now he's got a feral werewolf following him around town with the sole purpose of claiming Stiles as his own.
so now you've got the best of me (come on and take the rest of me) by mangotangos
"It doesn't matter how hot Derek is, how Stiles barely comes up to his shoulders or how Derek's hands could probably fit really snugly around his waist. None of it matters, because he's basically a glorified babysitter for the foreseeable future and Stiles wants him out. Operation annoy Deputy Derek Hale into leaving begins now."
~or, the one where Stiles' dad hires Deputy Derek to be Stiles' bodyguard, Stiles hates him on principle and then 2 seconds later falls in lust (and love) and tries to seduce him into bed with his sexual prowess.
There Are No Wolves In California by kitsunequeen
Hunter!Stiles accidentally hits a wolf with his car and can't bear to leave him in the road to die. It's not till he gets the wolf home that he sees its eyes glow red... ------- Even everyday roadkill is upsetting, but this thing… Moments ago it was probably a majestic beast, and now it’s a mangled pile of soon-to-be rotting flesh. He presses a shaking hand to the only part of its chest left intact, not even thinking about whether it'll give him rabies or some other awful disease.
He’s about to pull back when something even crazier happens.
He realizes the wolf is breathing.
(not so) Pure Imagination by theroguesgambit
"There is a world where whenever someone fantasizes about you, you can physically feel it, but you have no idea who is thinking it about you."
Stiles knows it's wrong, but he's been Fantasizing about Derek and he can't bring himself to stop. Derek doesn't know who's taken an interest in him, but he's enjoying it way more than he probably should.
Little Wild Animal by DiscontentedWinter
Derek Hale finds a feral human on his pack's property. Humans are supposed to be extinct. But then, Stiles is full of surprises.
The Darkness Inside by isthatbloodonhisshirt (wasterella)
The sheriff watched him for a moment, then he sighed and turned slightly. He reached out to open a cabinet door beside him, and pulled out a shelf. It was on a track, so it rolled out of the cabinet fairly easily, and held a small CCTV. Derek frowned and inched his chair to the side a little bit so he could get a better angle.
He was looking at a teenager, or someone at least young enough to be the same age as Scott. He was sitting on a bed in what looked to be a larger room, the area he was in surrounded by four glass walls, with his legs crossed and head tilted.
He was also staring directly into the camera, as if he knew someone was watching. A creepy smile slowly slid onto the teen’s face, and he held up one hand, wiggling his fingers in a slow, eery wave.
Derek felt his mouth run dry. He didn’t know who this kid was, but he didn’t like him.
“Who is that?” he asked quietly.
“That,” said the sheriff, “is my son.”
What I Did On My Summer Vacation by grimm for missingsun
There's something weird about Beacon Hills that Stiles can't quite put his finger on. The way everyone in town knows his name the day he arrives. The way they insist the melancholic howling that echoes through the forest every night is just a dog. The way his dad denies getting a dog, even though Stiles comes home to find one sprawled across his bed, some big black thing whose eyes gleam red in the right light. The way that massive oak tree out in the woods vibrates under his touch, pulsing with sickly life.
There's something weird going on in this town, and Stiles is determined to get to the bottom of it.
Patterns of Intention by drunktuesdays
Derek looked like the stuff of his deepest fantasies. His shirt was rumpled where Stiles had his hands in it, and he was breathing hard as well, chest heaving. His eyes—his eyes were glazed over and he looked stunned, like he’d been—like Stiles had—
“No,” Stiles said, blood draining from his face. The word was croaky and felt like it had to be wrenched out of his chest. “God, no.”
Wants & Needs by MadcapRomantic
Derek Hale has been participating in the Beacon Hills Mating Run for a decade, each year coming up without a mate. His mother, convinced this is his lucky year, persuades him to run one last time.
Enter Stiles, a young Omega with an unwanted Alpha nipping at his heels.
Family or not, Peter is determined to have Stiles.
But convinced they are True Mates, there isn't anything Derek won't do to keep Stiles safe.
I don't know why, but I guess it has something to do with you by LunaCanisLupus_22 for xXxClassifiedxXx
“You smell like me,” the guy says, scowling as he crowds in and Stiles staggers back between the coats and finally hits the wall. “Why do you smell like me?”
He barely lets out a garbled sound as the blood rushes to his cheeks. “No reason,” Stiles yelps, struggling to get his footing and grasping at a whirlwind of puffy fur.
Or the one where Stiles goes thrift shopping and steals an alpha's shirt. And gets a lot more than he bargains for.
Sleeping Dogs by starsystems
Let sleeping dogs lie. Prov. Do not instigate trouble.;Leave something alone if it might cause trouble.
Derek Hale is asleep in Stiles's bed. And it just escalates from there.
Because of course it does.
We've Written Volumes (in Blood and Scars and Ink) by notthequiettype
Stiles is on his back on hard-packed dirt. He's cold and there are leaves stuck to his neck and there's a four inch gash in his side that he thinks he can feel his ribs through. There's so much blood around him he feels like he's floating on a pond and everything is so much dimmer above him than it was a minute ago, which is saying something because he's in the dark center of the forest in the middle of the night. And the worst of it is that he's alone, totally alone with the smell of his own blood drowning him and the soft side of him run through by a tree.
As his eyes slip shut, the last thing he thinks is, "This is going to kill my dad."
In Case You Didn't Know by Blu_Crowe
Stiles moves into the lofts, and he and Derek start to get closer. Unfortunately Stiles is a moron, and Derek is bad at feelings. They figure it out... Eventually.
Stilinski's Home for Wayward Wolves by owlpostagain
“At least your puppies knock first,” Stiles snorts. “Here I thought their alpha raised them to be well-mannered.”

“There’s a sign,” Derek responds stiffly.

Stiles, whose curiosity outweighs even his hardest of grudges, abandons his chilly façade of nonchalance in a heartbeat. He jumps right up and all but pushes Derek out of the way in his effort to get to the window, and sure enough when he leans outside there’s a laminated strip of cardstock duct taped to the vinyl siding:

DON’T FORGET TO KNOCK Stiles gets cranky when we scare him
---
Or, in which Stiles Stilinski moves to Beacon Hills for his junior year of high school and accidentally adopts a pack of teenage werewolves.
Lock All The Doors Behind You by entanglednow
He has no idea what you're supposed to say when you find one of your...werewolf acquaintances, completely out of their mind, growling like they're about to see what your insides taste like. There's no handbook for this. Stiles is thinking that if he survives he might write one.
Feral Formalities by Aleandri
"There was silence as no one seemed to breath at the table.
Derek had just gifted Stiles, an unmated Omega, with food.
Right in front of another Alpha.
Who he was on a date with.
To discuss being heat partners...."
*In which, Stiles presents as Omega, and everyone wants a piece of the alpha-baby-making ass!*
for a good time, call... by EvanesDust for kalika_999
Stiles unlocks his phone to send out a quick text asking his father what he wants to eat, even though he’ll get salad regardless, and notices a strange number on his recent call log.
His face scrunches in confusion before realization dawns on him.
Oh shit.
Events from the night before peek through the hazy fog of his mind. Stiles thought, or he was hoping, that the phone call was a dream. But there it is, staring at him in the face—a one minute and 57-second call to an unfamiliar number.
Oh God.
Did he seriously call someone—possibly an alpha werewolf!—for phone sex?
...Or the one where Stiles drunk dials a very grumpy alpha werewolf and propositions him for phone sex. Hilarity, misunderstandings, and feelings ensue.
Golden Boy by trilliath
Apparently it still amuses his uncle to buy sex slaves for him, no matter how steadfastly he refuses to use them. Derek ducks into his tent with a resigned sigh, prepared to dress and reassign whatever new beauty Peter has bought him. They do make for loyal servants, so he can't really complain about Peter's 'gifts'. But it is annoying to deal with, to have to spend his evening sorting out a slave instead of being able to go right to bed. It's just something he has to learn to accept as a byproduct of serving alongside his uncle.
But when he lays eyes on the boy laying amid his furs, he finds his breath catching in his throat. His skin is golden with the candle-light glimmering against the sheen of oil that has been slathered on his bared body. His lips are parted, and they work over inaudible words or sounds. His skin is flushed, nipples peaked and pierced with simple but unexpected golden rings. He's spectacularly beautiful in the candlelight. The many glowing candles that have been added to his usual lighting cast glittering edges and shadows, imbuing an almost unearthly golden color to his skin.
It's enough that Derek hesitates.

Tiny Spark, Mighty Flame by eevylynn

Among born werewolves, it was common knowledge that the prime age for a human to endure the bite of an Alpha and survive was typically during their teenage or young adult years. In fact, the youngest recorded case of a bite resulting in a transformation and not death was previously eleven years old, so imagine the Hale pack’s astonishment when they learned of a small seven year old who was bitten and miraculously survived, challenging the known boundaries of possibility.
one, two, breathe by nemonight

Empaths are cursed with great power and most don’t know it. Stiles never had anyone to tell him that he was an empath but he knew what he could feel was not all human. Stiles always thought that he couldn’t be the only one who was special. Turns out he was right.
Believing in Yesterday by Antistalgic

Derek was driving through the city when he suddenly hears a cry that made his wolf howl with pain. He barely manages to park before running to the source and finding little Stiles sitting on the pavement with a bloody scrape on his knee and tears in his eyes.

Derek Hale met Stiles Stilinski when Stiles was six years old and Derek was sixteen, when Derek’s mother babysat Stiles after Stiles’ mom died. They didn't see each other again until Scott McCall was turned, ten years later.

Stiles met the Hale siblings when he was eleven years old. Now it has been six years since he lost his best friend Cora in the fire, and Derek and Laura left Beacon Hills.

Imagine all the Hale kids plus their cousins all at the park and kid stiles is there playing with kid Cora and her cousins then they make Derek play with them. Derek is classic middle child. He’s older than the little kids but younger than Laura and the other cousins. Stiles absolutely loves playing with Derek. Sometimes it’s hard to keep up with the werewolf kids and even the human ones too but Derek stays behind with stiles until he catches up. Then when it’s time to leave Talia calls over the kids with a loud whistle (lol my mom actually does this) and all the kids all start herding back to the car, including stiles who is just following along. It takes Talia when they’re half way home to realize that she took an extra kid with her, she didn’t even smell him cause they’ve all been rolling around him all day. Good thing she knows Claudia so she won’t be too freaked out.
She gets half way home and realises there’s 11 heartbeats in the back seat when there should only be 10 (I know, what car fits 11 kids, we’ll, they’re small and children - especially werewolf pups - have no regards for safety). She pulls over and turns around to see stiles sitting between Cora and Derek with a big smile on his face.
I like to think that Talia, Noah and Claudia grew up around the same time and know each other well, or maybe Peter caused a lot of trouble growing up and Noah was a new deputy that often had to deal with him (like Parrish with Stiles), so she knows Stiles and just drives him home. Chances are, Stiles snuck out of the house to go play at the park in the first place.

Sterek Fic Rec
Thrid Night of Chunnuka
It's Been A Long Time by voidnogitsune - (Rating: Explicit, Words: 3,524, sterek)
It’s just after his eighteenth birthday when Stiles comes to him, hot and hard and practically begging. His hands are white-knuckled, gripping the steering wheel too tight and Derek doesn’t have to be a werewolf to know what this is about.
Stiles stumbles out of the jeep, wiping his palms on his jeans and catching Derek’s eye in the moonlight. He flails backwards, like he hadn’t known Derek would be there the entire drive up, and Derek just smirks back at him, watches the way his pale skin catches in the light, watches the way he bites his lips until they are dark-pink.
“D-Derek. Fancy seeing you out here tonight.”
Mine by Nival_Vixen - (Rating: Mature, Words: 1,046, sterek)
Stiles can't quite believe what's happening. Werewolves, he's fine with. Werewolf rules and obligations, their social hierarchy and rankings, whatever, he can deal. But this? This is something completely foreign to him, and he has no idea how to handle it. Not when someone else is hugging Derek - his Derek - like they mean something to each other.
Long Overdue by tangowhiskey - (Rating: Explicit, Words: 5,147, sterek)
Stiles is pregnant with Derek's pups. However, he's now overdue, making him tired and irritable. He wants nothing more than for Derek to have sex with him in the hope that it will induce labour. Derek may or may not love the idea.
Weave Soft Spells Over My Sight by AgnesBlue - (Rating: Mature, Words: 51,424, sterek)
Derek had blossomed steadily over the past year, growing into his ears and turning even more handsome, if that were possible. But instead of going out and melting the panties off the girls, suddenly he was coming to Stiles all bashed in, demanding that he patch him up like Stiles was some freelance nurse. It was a familiar pattern by now.
AU in which Stiles has been living with the Hales for a few years as their assistant and friend. He needs to deal with Derek, who keeps coming to Stiles with bruises and cuts to be treated, while trying to figure out what the elderly alpha of the Hale pack is up to.
Derek May Or May Not Be A Sugar Daddy by LadyDrace - (Rating: Explicit, Words: 604, sterek)
Derek buys Stiles things, and Stiles is very appreciative. VERY appreciative.
Ironing out the Kinks by astrugglingstoic - (Rating: Explicitly, Words: 3,870, sterek)
The guy’s leaning against the side wall of the club, neither flaunting himself nor trying to blend into the background. He's fiercely beautiful and unforgiving as he turns down the dozenth man and woman to proposition him for a dance or a drink. Stiles must have him.
all i know since yesterday (is everything has changed) by EvanesDust - (Rating: T, Words: 5,005, sterek)
When Derek wakes from a bad dream, he stares up at the cutest guy he's ever met. The scent of home washes over him and he has no idea what it means. But after the guy walks away, all Derek wants is to find him again.
based on the prompt: "I was looking up a guy's info on a college computer. Heard his voice from behind me telling me how to correctly spell his last name. #IGotCaught"
Just My Type by thedevilyousay - (Rating: G, Words: 1,170, sterek)
Laura and her brother are not so patiently waiting in line at the coffee shop one morning when a cute stranger grabs her hand by mistake.
or
The one where Stiles doesn't pay attention and Laura gets to witness her brother and his new dumb boyfriend's love at first sight.
Like Real People Do by DefNotForWork - (Rating: T, Words: 4,697, sterek)
“We’re going on a date. You and me, romantically,” Stiles said again, imagining the eyebrow magic currently working on Derek’s forehead. “Why would I want to do that?” Derek asked, gracing Stiles with a little inflection, something the man never took for granted. “Because secretly you’re just a pretty girl who wants a date to the ball.”
spoilers by To_fill_the_sea - (Rating: Explicit, Words: 9,896, sterek)
Derek is confronted with a girl who accidentally traveled back in time and it throws him a bit for a loop as certain future events get revealed and he struggles how to handle these revelations.

Sterek fanfic but it's based on the song No One Is Alone from Into the Woods, (let me cook!!) Because I can imagine Stiles saying that to Derek after Derek has a nightmare (based off the Hale fire or Laura's death) and I can imagine him saying the lines
"Sometimes people leave you, Halfway through the woods"
And
"Do not let it grieve you, no one leaves for good" "You are not alone no one is alone"
And Iike that becomes at least something small that can help Derek calm his wolf (he imagines Stiles brushing his fingers through his hair and whispering the words)

Hell beautiful person! I’m looking for Sterek Fics set in High School where Stiles and Derek are the same age! Always a happy sterek ending, all fluff, angst is okay to as long as they are together at the end. No cheating please! Thank you so much!
High School fics are so fun!! 😍
The Lawn Ranger by Snowjob | 47.8K | Mature
In which Derek is an adolescent werewolf with a penchant for chocolate bunnies, and instead of the dream summer of lazing around the house playing video games and nibbling on his hoarded supply of easter candy his mother makes him get a job.
In which Stiles is a showoff jock with a broken arm and an embarrassing crush who can no longer push the lawn mower around the yard.
When You’re Close I Feel the Sparks by  Leslie_Knope | 39.6K
The guy is hot as hell, sure—leather jacket and glasses, Jesus, be still Stiles’ poor, bisexual, beating heart—but more importantly, it must really suck being new on the first day of senior year.
“We’re adopting him,” he decides, tugging Scott and Kira by the elbow in that direction. “Let’s go.”
Strut on a Line, its Discord and Rhyme by xiaq | 61.8K
“Carry me,” Stiles says.
“No.”
“But I’m injured.”
“You have a rash,” Derek says. “On your arm. Your feet work just fine.”
“Please?”
“No. You weigh almost as much as I do. And you ate a pound of chicken at lunch.”
Kingdom By The Sea by kilaem | 4K
Lydia grabs his arm and pulls him down in the seat next to her. “When the hell did you find time to bag a guy like Hale?”
“We’re friends,” Stiles feels his face heat up, and then the team are running out and Derek sees him and smiles. His blush gets worse.
“Oh really?”
“Our moms were friends, okay? We’ve been in diapers together.”
“I thought you two hated each other.”
What Good Are Rules (If You Can’t Break Them) by wishingonalightningbolt | 9.5K | Explicit
In which Derek and Stiles engage in no-strings-attached sex. It works out about as well as you might imagine.
Option C) Some Bad Guys are Werewolves, but Not All Werewolves are Bad Guys by  calrissian18 | 9K
Derek Hale—the Incredible Meat that Thinks—needs a math tutor. Stiles Stilinski needs something that will look better on his college applications than ‘passable D&D Dungeon Master.’
It’s a match made in heaven. Er, right?
Let Me Be Yours by EvanesDust, isthatbloodonhisshirt (wasterella) | 30.3K
What if Stiles did end up believing one day and he got a soulmark and it... wasn’t Derek’s? What if it was a completely different design? Derek would hate the other person on principle because they would’ve gotten what he wanted.
Hadn’t he earned Stiles? He’d been there for him for years, and they were both such good friends, and had stuck by one another regardless of their differences. He was sitting in a fucking movie theatre to watch a movie he wasn’t at all interested in instead of playing ultimate frisbee with Boyd and some other friends, for fuck’s sake. He loved ultimate frisbee! Much more than superhero movies!
But not more than Stiles.
He couldn’t possibly love anything more than Stiles.
i wanna dance with somebody (who loves me) by bleepobleep | 10.5K
Derek gets in an accident and loses a few years of his memory; suddenly everything is different— he’s not a freshman loser anymore, but a popular senior, captain of the basketball team, a shoo-in for prom king, too, and he should have everything he’s ever wanted— except he doesn’t seem to be friends with Stiles anymore.
John Hughes Did Not Direct My Life by nascentgalaxies | 48.6K | Explicit
Stiles and Derek are childhood friends who drifted apart. When Stiles joins the lacrosse team against his will, the universe (with a little help from Laura and Lydia) chooses to push them back together.
Chocolate & Pomegranates by Dexterous_Sinistrous | 9.6K
Derek has been an Omega for what feels like centuries. He is constantly hounded by Alphas and Betas who can't control their hormones. He's thankful for Laura defending his honor, but there is one person he's always dreamed of giving himself to.
Too bad Derek is certain Stiles doesn't know he exists.
It’s Always Been You, Dumbass by stilinskisparkles | 11K
“Alright, cool, we should go,” Stiles says breezily, dusting off his hands as he stands.
“We should?”
“Yeah!”
“But… Do you even care about photography?”
“Not as much as I should,” Stiles plants both his hands on the table, bracketing Derek in, “You’ll have to correct my miscreant ways.”
This Might Be Irony by thepsychicclam | 38.3K | Mature
Stiles and Derek have been close friends since the Hale siblings moved in next door after their parents’ death. But Derek’s in the popular group, he’s a star baseball player, and he dates popular Pep Squad captain Jennifer Blake. Stiles doesn’t have any of that, just his skateboard and a hopeless crush on Derek (oh yeah, and his Vote Lydia Martin Prom Queen button). As prom and the baseball state championship grow closer, Stiles and Derek start rekindling their friendship.
And it all begins with two white boards.
A Cunning Plan by yodasyoyo | 32.7K
Stiles has a plan to get Lydia Martin to notice him. Derek is not impressed.
But Then What… by Stoney | 24.3K | Explicit
Senior year is almost over, and all Stiles needs to do is keep his head down to survive. A teacher calls in a favor, leaving him stuck tutoring Derek Hale, one of the most popular jocks in school and a member of a group of douchecanoes who have bullied Stiles for years. He’s someone Stiles totally hates. Totally. Like, doesn’t like him even a little bit. DEFINITELY isn’t attracted to him.
Except that is a total lie. Fuck his life, seriously.

Come with me on a journey into the world of imagination! You see, there's been a recent trend in the Teen Wolf fandom that intrigues me. The parts of it that dislike Scott have finally, finally come to admit that Scott McCall is the main character after 13 years of denial. Which, to the surprise of absolutely no one, does not mean they have developed more empathy for Scott, because nothing short of A-Clockwork-Orange level of brainwashing could do that. Instead, it means that their bottomless dislike is, in their eyes, more justified, because as the main character, he should be held to a higher standard and endure closer scrutiny than other characters.
So, with a wave of our creativity wands, we banish Teen Wolf to the void. Poof! Instead, MTV came out in 2011 with a show called Sourwolf, chronicling the adventures of Derek Hale, one of the last surviving members of the Hale family. Now, bear in mind, we're not going to change the setting, the backstory, the plot, or the characterizations of any of the characters. We're simply going to shift the lead protagonist position to Derek rather than Scott.
In the first episode, Derek returns to his home town only to find his sister murdered. Instead of acting like a normal human being and calling the cops, he buries her in the side yard of his burned-down family home, enchanting her corpse so it will look like a wolf with the symbol for vendetta. He obviously intends to get revenge. He sees two teenagers on his property and immediately perceives that one of them has been turned into a werewolf, which means that another werewolf killed Laura. Deciding once again against acting like a normal human being, he decides to stalk the young man in hopes of finding the werewolf who killed his sister rather than offer his insight to a kid who must be scared out of his mind. He follows Scott home, listens in on his conversations with his best friend and his mother, and crashes a high-school party. When he realizes that he's on a date with an Argent, he doesn't warn the young man, because if he did, Derek might lose his chance to find the alpha. Instead, he steals Allison Argent's jacket and uses it to lure Scott into the woods. When he finally has a conversation with Scott, he doesn't tell Scott about the new alpha or the Argents, he just insists that Scott needs him and that they're brothers now.
Whoo! That's just the first episode!
In the second episode, when he sees Scott engaging in unsafe behavior, he doesn't approach his new-found brother and explain the situation with gentleness and wisdom, he breaks into his house, throws him up against the wall, and threatens to kill him. He has to do this, because if he told Scott everything, Scott might run and hide and Derek would lose his chance to find the alpha, and nothing matters more than Derek's revenge. It's a very good character flaw for a lead protagonist, and it even lead to the plot complication of getting him arrested for a little bit!
In the third episode, the insurance investigator who concealed the arson that killed his family is attacked, and Scott thinks that he might have done it in a dream, but Derek realizes this is an important clue to the identity of the alpha. The killer must know about the fire. He doesn't share this information with Scott, because fuck that kid's autonomy, at least until Scott threatens to go to the Sheriff.
And so on and so on. Derek will do all this to Scott without ever apologizing for it, because the only thing that is important to Derek is his vengeance. He'll help the kid out but only when he has to, because Scott is the means for him to find the alpha.
Derek's obsession with finding the killer of his sister is a very understandable character arc for him to have, but now, in Sourwolf, he is the lead protagonist. So, of course, the people who don't like Scott for not apologizing for the right things or apologizing in the wrong way or not understanding Derek's enormous manpain or submitting to Derek's alphadom or not telling Derek about Gerard's cancer or violating Derek's autonomy when forced to make a choice between doing that and getting Allison's throat ripped out or everything else they hate Scott for are going to hate Derek for doing objectively worse things (not the least reason is that Derek is an adult "born wolf" and Scott is a teenager who didn't know that werewolves existed three months ago) such as stalking or breaking and entering or threatening to kill teenagers or never apologizing or not apologizing in the right way or not being a proper mentor for a young wolf or letting Peter violate Scott repeatedly, right? RIGHT?
Ha, ha, ha. You know, I know, they know, and God knows that if Sourwolf was the actual show, they wouldn't find reasons to dislike Derek or his behavior because they don't actually dislike Derek's behavior as long as it's Tyler Hoechlin doing it. There's a reason that a character played by Tyler Hoechlin standing by and watching a character played by Ian Bohen physically and mentally violate a naked teenager played by Tyler Posey doesn't make them respond with visceral hatred and endless scornful meta about how dare the character played by Tyler Hoechlin think he has the right to call himself an alpha. I just don't know what that reason could be.
BUT IT'S NOT RACISM.

I'm thinking about how Eli is apparently living with Scott and an Argent. How Deaton moved to LA as well and Deaton never treated Derek that well.
It doesn't make sense that Scott would get custody over any of the living Hales or even Noah. How Derek supposedly never had any arrangements made up just in case. Especially since Derek lost his family when he was Eli's age.
there's no way in hell scott and allison have legal guardianship over eli. it's a laughable idea and it is the height of insult to even suggest that an argent should be involved with raising derek's son. derek and allison barely tolerated each other not to mention all the other history.
it begs the question why would he want to go with them anyway? if we're following what the movie was putting down than he doesn't know them. there is also no reason that eli should've been pushed to leave his home. his ancestral home at that. the place where so many hales had been born and died.
it also removes him from a stable environment with a support system after suffering a huge loss. the sheriff, malia and peter seem to have been around. noah stilinski was definitely heavily involved in eli's life plus he's the sheriff of the goddamned town. he'd be perfect for temporary guardianship at minimum.
malia and peter are directly related to him and are also shifters.
again, why the hell would eli go live with two people who aren't even remotely connected to him and he barely knows. he last met scott when he was three years old and allison has been dead his entire existence. these people are strangers.
it just gives you the idea that jeff wanted a "happy ending" for allison and scott while not addressing all the questions it brings up. like is scott even remotely prepared to take on a sixteen year old whose just gone through a very traumatic experience? what exactly is allison's mental status right now? she just came back from the dead. they want to handwave it away just like they did with malia's situation. homegirl was 17 when she died. wouldn't she want to like idk catch up on the world? spend time with her dad? her best friend lydia who really, deeply grieved her? figure things out before jumping into a relationship with her high school boyfriend who is now in his 30s? it's weird.
speaking of allison.
allison has been legally deceased for over a decade by the time of the movie.
even if they were to some how "lose" the investigation files surrounding her death and the autopsy report than they used isaac to do an off the books burial i'd imagine there's still a death certificate filed with the state. the social security administration would've been notified as well. there was also fbi presence in town on an active investigation at the time of her death and everyone in beacon hills knew she died.
this does bring up the matter of peter's legal status. is he considered legally dead too? i don't think so actually as everything was really shady about that situation and his nurse was in on the whole thing. i don't think he was declared missing let alone dead.
and also like the most obvious answer to all of this is cora hale. where the fuck is cora hale? she's derek's sister and eli's aunt. she would've stepped in. aggressively. the only answer is that jeff has her locked in the subplot basement.
you also can't convince me that derek hale wouldn't have his affairs in order.
not only did derek have the experience of going through the untimely death of his family at a young age but he also had to do it again with laura.
there's no way he didn't have a will and it'd likely have to go through the probate process so his estate could be executed. derek hale had assets.
the hales were loaded. they were rich. season 4 drove that point home. derek owned the building the loft was in. he also had a business at the time of his death too.
derek would've ensured eli's inheritance and stability in case something happened to him and none of it would've included scott mccall or an argent.
scott was never derek's alpha. derek was not part of the mccall pack.
this isn't to say scott couldn't mentor eli. that'd be fine. it'd bring things full circle in a way but it's dumb as hell for scott to take eli to LA and i do genuinely think it's out of character for scott. especially an adult scott but i've written about that somewhere on my blog i think.
jeff davis can meet me in hell is all i'm saying.

Tiny Spark, Mighty Flame
Sterek || eventual Alpha Werewolf Stiles [ao3]
Among born werewolves, it was common knowledge that the prime age for a human to endure the bite of an Alpha and survive was typically during their teenage or young adult years. In fact, the youngest recorded case of a bite resulting in a transformation and not death was previously eleven years old, so imagine the Hale pack’s astonishment when they learned of a small seven year old who was bitten and miraculously survived, challenging the known boundaries of possibility.
Chapter 3 - Friction's Inferno
The table was laden with sizzling meats and a medley of fresh ingredients. The savory scents of beef, chicken, and shrimp mingled with the aroma of grilled bell peppers and  onions, promising the delectable flavors of the homemade fajitas Elijah whipped up with Cora’s assistance.
As Claudia and Elijah set about helping Stiles and Cora serve their plates, Noah turned to greet Dr. Deaton who had arrived while they were upstairs. “I take it you’re a werewolf, too?” he asked with a resigned look on his face.
“Oh, no,” Deaton replied quietly. “I am as human as you are.”
Noah’s face scrunched up in confusion.
“Alan is our pack’s emissary,” Talia told them from the head of the table.
“Emissary?” Claudia asked. “Like, a pack ambassador or something?”
Deaton smiled mysteriously, “Of sorts.”
“What the hell is that supposed to mean?” Noah blurted out. He already felt out of his depths, which is something Noah does NOT like to feel, especially when it comes to his family. As this little boy’s dad, Noah was supposed to have all the answers and make him feel safe, but Noah hasn’t been able to provide that ever since his son was bitten by a real life werewolf , which shouldn’t even be a real thing. This little meeting was supposed to be for answering the questions he and his family had about this whole situation they suddenly found themselves in, and now this, apparently human, vet decided this was the time to be vague and mysterious? Fuck that.
Claudia, sensing his rising tension, reached over to put a hand on his.
“What he means,” Talia said, giving Deaton a swift look before making firm eye contact with Noah, “is that as pack emissary, yes, he is an ambassador for the pack with other werewolf packs and acts as our link to the human world. He helps to smooth over any issues the pack might have to deal with, and he works to keep the supernatural secret from the majority of humans.”
“Why does the supernatural world have to stay a secret from humans?” Claudia asked.
Noah didn’t like the looks Talia, Elijah, and Deaton exchanged with each other.
Elijah put his hands together under his chin and sighed, “People don’t always trust what they don’t understand.”
Talia put a hand on his shoulder, rubbing the back of his neck as the pair exchanged commiserating smiles. “There’s already an unfortunate number of people out there who already know that we exist and hate us simply for existing.”
“Hunters,” Laura muttered.
Noah’s heart clenched at the thought as he looked over at his son’s wide brown eyes. Claudia’s hand tightened in his grasp.
“Like, werewolf hunters?” Stiles’s little voice piped up. “That’s a real thing?”
“Unfortunately, yes,” Talia said gently. “However, they live by a code,” she continued. “They are to only hunt those that cause harm to innocents.”
As a man of the law, that didn’t sit right with Noah.

WIP Whenever
Tagged by the lovelies that are @dear-massacre & @violetfairydust 💘
Here's a little snippet from my main WIP: an ABO humans-as-second-class-citizens AU 😊
-
“Um, yeah,” Stiles stutters out, trying not to cringe at the strength of Talia's grip. “That’s... hi. It’s nice to, uh – to be here, too.”
Her painted mouth is pursed as she releases his hand, and he quickly tucks it behind his back, flexing his sore fingers out of sight from her appraising stare. There is an almost regal posture to her as she stands, her shoulders drawn back and her torso stretched out, her hands clasped together in front of her stomach. It makes him want to shrink a little, to be honest, but he fights that instinct back down.
“Yes, I can imagine,” she says primly, before letting her gaze drift to his side, where it lands heavily on her eldest daughter. “And has my Laura been behaving herself?”
Not really, he thinks.
“Yeah, absolutely,” he says out loud, smiling briefly at Laura with a tip of his head. “She’s been nice enough to start showing me around the place.”
Laura smirks back at him. “I’m a regular one-woman welcoming committee.”
Talia hums, narrowing her gaze towards Laura for a moment.
“Yes. Quite.” The corners of her eyes crinkle as she pulls her focus back to him. It should be a kind expression, of laughter lines and etchings of joy, but instead of any of that, it just seems disingenuous. “So, Mr Stilinski. You graduated high school last month, is that correct?”
He nods. “Yes, ma’am.”
“And you’ll be starting college after your time with us here?” she presses.
“Nursing school,” he corrects carefully. “I have a place locally back in Beacon Hills.”
Talia’s smile, perfectly perfunctory at best up until this point, suddenly shifts into something actually like real. Her teeth flash, and there is a certain sharkish quality to it that makes his heart want to miss a beat in his chest, because it’s nothing like Laura’s specific brand of vibrant cheekiness.
No. With Talia, it’s almost… malevolent.
Huh, he thinks. He’s never noticed that before, when he’s seen her photographs in the papers.
“My son is due to begin medical school in the fall,” she announces proudly, and he doesn’t miss the way that Cora rolls her eyes down at the floor, just behind her mother's vision. “My boy, Derek. I imagine you’ve heard of him.”
Oh – Stiles has heard of him, all right. Being the only son and the only alpha, and with his dashing good looks and notoriously bad attitude, Derek Hale is by far the most well-known of all of the Hale children. And that – that is saying something, considering how much press time Laura and Cora get.
For sure, Stiles knows precisely who he is.
Also, he may or may not have jerked off to a shirtless picture or two (or twenty) that the paparazzi managed to snap of the guy at a private beach about a year back, too.
Obviously, he does not say this part out loud to the guy's mother.
“Yep,” he says instead, nodding slightly. “That’s, uh… great. For him.”
“Yes, it is.” There is a sharpness to her tone that implies she is not at all impressed with Stiles’ underwhelming levels of enthusiasm. He ducks his head and shuffles under the discomfort. “Well. I should let you and dear Laura get back to your tour. I do hope you enjoy your stay with us here, Mr Stilinski.”
“Thank you,” he hastens to reply. “I – I’m sure I will.”

Returning the Favor Sterek | 5k | T
Stiles pays a nighttime visit to his boyfriend in secret, or so he thinks. Unfortunately, the Hale family has keener ears than he realizes.
It’s late when Derek hears the noise at the side of the house. A creak of siding that cuts through the backdrop of cricket song. Just one lone sound, but there’s something cautious about it. Probing.
He lowers the book he’s reading, but no other sounds follow. Derek has been lying sprawled across his bed, drowsy and warm and comfortable, sweatpant-clad legs resting against the wall—but now that he’s conscious of the sound, his focus sharpening, he thinks he’s been hearing quiet noises grow nearer for some time without quite comprehending them. A wild animal outside, maybe, creeping slowly around the foundation of the house. Something large enough that the mulch in the flower bed crunches beneath its weight.
It’s not often that a solitary animal grows bold enough to venture this close to a werewolf pack—the scent always scares them off first. They don’t even get raccoons out here, especially not with the cold this time of year. It could always be their cousin Warren, who’s always thought it funny to startle his relatives with unexpected visits in the dead of night. Or any one of the nasty things in Uncle Peter’s wild stories, supernatural things that creep into the house come dark.
Derek glances at the window, book still resting on his chest, but the house is still.
Maybe it’s gone. That’s just as well: he’s too comfortable to drag himself over to the window to look.
And then another sound comes, an unmistakable creak. Heavy weight settling into place.
Downstairs, his mother sighs. “What was that?” she demands, her voice faint with distance. She and his dad are likely out on the porch swing at this time of evening, even though it’s nearly winter, lunatics that they are. “If Laura and Cora are at it again”
“I’m sure they aren’t, Tal,” Derek’s father replies, sounding amused. “You put the fear of god in them.”
Mom scoffs. “If we have to repair another door, it’s coming out of their pockets.”
“Not everything is my fault, Mom,” Cora mutters pointedly from down the hall. There’s heavy metal coming from the vicinity of Laura’s bedroom, just low enough to be blasting from her headphones, and she doesn’t pipe up to defend herself.
The thing hasn’t gone away. Metal squeaks a moment later, and then the scrabbling returns, punctuated by a thump and a muffled grunt.
Annoyed, Derek tosses the book aside and clambers to his feet, crossing over to the window. When he hoists up the sash, letting the night chill waft in, he peers down into the dark and finds that the source is worse than anything he could have imagined.
It’s his boyfriend, scaling the side of the house like some deranged cat burglar.
Stiles is hanging onto the drainpipe, having managed to hoist himself several feet off the ground. He’s leaning against the metal awning over the kitchen window, one foot atop the shutter and the other scrabbling for purchase against the siding. At the clatter of Derek’s opening window, he looks up, startled, and nearly loses his balance.
“What are you doing here?” Derek hisses.
“Just returning the favor.” With a moment to catch himself against the awning, Stiles gets his bearing and grins. “What? Don’t make that face. C’mon, you can show up at all hours of the night, but turnabout isn’t fair play?”
With that, he sticks his tongue between his teeth, which he sometimes does unconsciously when something demands his full attention. And the perilous task of climbing should get his full attention, given how often he stumbles when both of his feet are on the ground. God, Derek is about to witness his idiot boyfriend fall to his death or something.
Stiles heaves himself mostly onto the awning, clawing for purchase with a grunt. When he reaches for the window, he loses his grip, nearly sliding backward onto the grass; in a flash of panic, Derek grabs him by his shirt and yanks him forward.
“Are you trying to get yourself killed?” he demands, aware of their volume and even more aware of their audience.
The awning rattles as Stiles draws up his long legs to slip inside the window feet first, ducking under the sash. He’s panting a little as he pulls himself upright, though he bats his eyes sweetly in the face of Derek’s scowl. “Oh, please. I knew you’d catch me. ‘My hero,’ and all that.”
“Should have let you fall and die,” Derek retorts, shutting the window.
“Probably. Oh man, that was so athletic. Sometimes, I amaze myself.”
Derek doesn’t have anything smart to say to that. He’s only half paying attention, too busy bracing for the discussion sure to follow.
He and Stiles may as well have stomped up and down the stairs blowing air horns as far as the rest of the house goes. Everyone will have heard. Derek is absolutely sure because you can hear a pin drop, like no one’s even moving, like everyone’s waiting with bated breath—either gleeful or judgmental or both—to hear what comes next. Even Laura’s deafening headphones have gone silent. Fuck.
Worst of all…Stiles doesn’t know any of this. He doesn’t yet know about the secret the Hale family hides, or how keenly they can hear, or that every word he says will be seized up and cheerfully dissected and gossiped about in real time.

Hey! Was wondering if you knew of any five with werewolf lore? Like there’s one where Derek takes Stiles to the abandoned church the Hales used to go to and explained the god that werewolves pray to/recognize that I can’t seem to remember. Thank you!!!
Sure thing.
Tumblr media
where the moon didn't shine by emsmittens
(1/1 I 4,630 I Explicit I Steo)
Some werewolves were influenced by the light of the full moon while others reacted to the lack of light from high in the sky after dark. Full moon werewolves and new moon werewolves; two half of a whole. Or, at least, that was what the stories said. A hunter named Stiles was no stranger to these tall old tales, but he certainly didn’t believe in them… yet.
I'm Betting This Wasn't Beta Tested by dancinbutterfly
(1/1 I 7,870 I Explicit I Sterek)
Derek is thrown into a violent heat in the wake of Lydia and Peter's actions at the end of Party Guessed. Debilitated by his own needs, Derek reaches out to Stiles, the only person he wants and can hope to trust.
Tiny Bad Omen Of Happiness by FailWolf (GeekMom13)
(1/1 I 13,619 I Explicit I Steter)
“Watch it, freezer boy,” a much smaller Stiles said, “I’m already really pissed off and if you get blood on my only clothes that fit, I will remove every single hair from your body one by one.”
Across the clearing, the more familiar voice of Stiles echoed the sentiment, “ZombieWolf, I will sprinkle wolfsbane in every single one of your stupid beauty products, and yes I know exactly where you live and how to get in.”
“Good!” mini-Stiles yelled, “at least this fucking spell got one thing right.”
Stiles stopped glaring at Peter in order to glare at himself.
“Say one thing and I will turn your hair into a mood ring.”
Stiles held up his hands in surrender, “I wasn’t going to say a single thing about the whole nine-year-old me being in the forest. That would of course be ridiculous. This is normal, nothing to comment on. Though, Peter, if I may ask, WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO?”
“Ugh,” mini-Stiles groaned, “I know we love him —”
Hold the Door by Hatteress (goddammitstacey), maichan808 (maichan)
(1/1 I 16,700 I Teen I Sterek)
When Derek is killed by a rival alpha, the pack will stop at nothing to get him back. Even if that means blackmailing the most dangerous hunter duo this side of hell. Whatever. That whole devil thing was probably totally exaggerated, anyway.
Bonds for Life by JustJim, Useless_girl
(3/3 I 36,575 I Explicit I Sterek)
In which Stiles and Derek actually get to visit Deaton for help and some explanations regarding their bonds and the Spark magic.
Rusty Spoons by Poison_Love_Words
(12/? I 38,182 I Explicit I Sterek)
Stiles is beyond reluctant to leave his new omega mate for a meeting with the Lupine . It doesn't help that Derek is making it very tempting to ignore the summons and stay home with him. Add to that some freaky dreams Stiles has been having, and he's about ready to cancel the whole thing. Good thing his beta, Scott, will watch out for Derek and Stiles can go make nice with the scary werewolf leader.
Once he is away things seem fine, other than Derek not returning his calls. That's okay since he's making up for it with some steamy texts. Although, Stiles has a nagging feeling all is not right. One that only grows as he returns home to a situation he could have never imagined.
Bonneville Noir by EloquentSavage
(16/16 I 60,913 I Explicit I Sterek)
Sliding his hands around Stiles’ chest Derek found the scents of the Camaro, Laura, and New York still clinging to him like a map of the places he had been.
Holding him made him real. He wasn’t a figment of Derek’s imagination. Stiles was here, and he was staying. Uncontrollable relief spilled out of him, but the right words, the right voice was there to pick him back up. Repeated apologies whispered against his skin relentlessly, melting the last of the anger he stubbornly held on to.
Anthracite by LupusScintilla (inkandblade)
(16/16 I 106,673 I Explicit I Sterek)
It's been a quiet few years, and the McCall Pack has grown and settled. But, when the Hale Pack return to Beacon Hills they find Scott isn't as welcoming as they had hoped.
Soon they, Stiles, and Lydia, find out that not everything about the McCall Pack is as it has always seemed.

Imagine every Valentine’s Day Stiles’ mom gave him these beautiful flowers and when she died stiles still received those flowers, turns out she ordered them in advance. But it kept happening the next year and the next year, and stiles is always so happy every year for them. Then one year the morning of Valentine’s Day stiles didn’t get his usual flowers, he’s obviously upset and cries all day, his dad gets him flowers, but it just isn’t the same, until it’s late at night that he hears the doorbell, he runs down and there they are, the flowers. Sometimes the flowers show up in the morning other times it’s late at night, but they always show up.
The year scott gets bit, stiles is pretty sure that he won’t be getting any more flowers. He older now, it’s been a few years and he doesn’t know for how many years in advance his mom paid for. But he still gets them. He tries to look for the flower shop but there’s no logo and all the flowers shops say they have no records of his mom ever ordering from them.
Later when he’s hanging out by the hale house he notices Derek garden in the back. And there are the flowers his mom always got him. So he asks Derek about them.
Turns out Derek’s family owned the flower shop where Claudia got the flowers and they’ve been sending them to stiles for Claudia’s request. But then the fire happened and Laura he Derek left the shop. Derek was the delivery boy and he went back to deliver stiles his flowers because he knew how important they were to him. And he kept doing it cause it was nice doing something genuinely nice for someone else. But then he got to know stiles and so he kept doing it. He tells stiles how his mom paid in advance until he was 18 but Derek planned on giving stiles the flowers even after cause he know how it feels to loose his family and that those flowers gave stiles a connection to his mom and he didn’t want him to loose that.
Those flowers are the flowers they have at their wedding and stiles still gets them every Valentine’s Day. But Derek always has them growing in the backyard.
(Sorry if this long and messy I was just trying to type everything down as fast as I could)
