I am a novice in Darkwing Duck lore but oooo do I want to make and develop the friendly four versions of the main villains so bad-

Like a egotistical superhero ending up adopting a kid and finding love a sidekick? Amazing, awesome, I love that.

But FOUR misfit superheros finding each other and sticking together, even when everything is going against them, and adopting TWO kids?! Even more amazing, lovely, I adore that, I want more of that.

Anyways take a sketch of Friendly Four Quacker Jack- and some small ideas + brainstorming I have for now

So basically for them, I wanna do the same approach they did with Negaduck; same personality traits, flaws and all, just different scenarios.

Nega Megavolt and Nega Liquidator are easy enough to make heroic; both have a reason to be against Negaduck (don't want to make Nega Liquidator want to poison his competitors tho -even with me going with a corrupt business forced to turn good in harsh situations- probably will be Nega Liquidator trying to stop Negaduck from messing with his products and ends up getting murdered) (Nega Megavolt I can just change Negaduck into being his bully instead of Friend, and the cause of his powers). Also Megavolt already has heroic actions towards his electronics, so that helps (Negavolt still views electronics stuff as sentient, just doesn't think of them as enslaved; maybe he views them as workers or something)

Now for Nega Quackerjack I'm thinking that the Wiffle Boy company still took down his company and drove him to villainy for a bit- but when Negaduck's raise began (and toy bans) Quackerjack turn heroic to stop him; maybe Negaduck even tried to make him serve him while he was still a villain, but that went very very poorly (maybe he somehow met Gosalyn that way, dunno yet). He still holds his grudges against Wiffle Boy, but isn't going to go into a violent rampage over someone playing the game (probably just get judgy about it, unless it's his kids then he'll just try to show him how much better his toys are and eventually one of the other of the four just gotta drag him away and let him mope)

Now for Nega Bushroot, Rhonda was the one who was cruel to him and Gary and Larson were chill. He still wanted to solve world hunger but got rejected still (dunno if it's cause of Negaduck involvement this time or just of the funders greed). That's all I got backstory wise. Thinking of either having him have a lower murder count (or zero murder) or having him murder someone before joining the Friendly Four and it just absolutely worsening into his low self esteem (maybe the guilt is what pushes him towards good and makes him want to stop Negaduck). However I don't want Rhonda dead cause I think she'd be a cool lil villain, so I don't know.

Oh I also got some ideas for Nega Gosalyn's character and Negaduck's relationship with her. So basically Negaduck, as we know, is highly egotistical and craves power and violence. So, in his eyes caring for someone is a sign of weakness; he absolutely refuses to do anything you're supposed to do with a kid (tuck them in, comfort them when scared, be emotionally available for them, etc.) cause it embarrasses him and makes him feel weak. So instead, he just gives Gosalyn all the toys confiscated and lets her live there, thinking that's enough (spoiler alert, it's not enough and leads to Gosalyn feeling both unsafe and unloved). Also, Negaduck being a tyrant and seeing all the havoc he and Nega Launchpad has caused for the town (some frist hand experiences) reaaaally doesn't help her feel any safer.

Nega Gosalyn's well mannered personality is a direct result of these feelings of unsafeness. She still has her spirit (and mischievous nature) and wants to do good, but she's also very scared if she acts out she'll hurt or killed (Negaduck wouldn't actually physically hurt her, but he does verbally threaten to do so when she messes up; yeeeah he should have never gotten a child). So she tries to help the side of good from a safe distance where Negaduck and Launchpad don't notice. Over the time she's adopted by The Friendly Four, her mischievous personality starts to slowly come back.

The Friendly Four is a poly couple.

I think it would be insanely funny if one day, after Nega Gosalyn (and everyone else in the town for that matter) gets readjusted to daily life and schools being open, that her class gets a new student and she turns her head only to see Nega Honker at the door. And they both just stare at each other like

Naturally they do not get along (their poor teacher, first had to deal with teaching a bunch of behind students who most definitely are still traumatized from Negaduck's rule, and now she gotta keep Nega Gosalyn and Nega Honker from beating each other to a pulp) (Nega Gosalyn would totally throw hands for her close friend and now brother Tank) (Nega Tank is older so he's in a higher grade)

It's like 1am, this post might be a jamble of a mess but I'm sleepy so I'm leaving it as is. If you actually read this far, thank you and I hope you like my lil ideas!

What do you think of people who ship Morgana with Negaduck?

Well, as I said before, I'm not much into couples (although I have written romance in other stories^^') I think I understand why people pair Morgana with Negaduck, the villain being a counterpart to the sorceress's boyfriend. Throughout the series, we have seen that Negaduck finds Morgana attractive, but is not in love with her. He even in one chapter believes that he can make her fall in love with him ^^' The only time he wants to "make her fall in love" is precisely in that chapter, but not because of her romantic interest, but to use the sorceress's magic ^^'

Now, based on the Geronimo saga (because yes, I love that story so much that I will always mention it, guilty) In this saga, Negsy does NOT have any love interests. It makes sense though. The poor villain was already living as a grumpy and dangerous loner, without Nega-Launchpad, without Nega-Gosalyn, and without any Nega-Morgana. Alone, excluding himself from others, considering that any relationship or closeness with a person was the same as having a traitor by his side (Until his Baby Girl arrives and "gently" pushes him to trust her, and therefore, to end have a friendly relationship with Drake, Max, LP and Scrooge^^')

We get away from the point, the romance of it. The only person the villain "almost loves" in that romantic sense was Nega-Morgana (based on what @rebellingstagnationblog has said). But she "betrayed him". He left her for dead, he murdered Nega-Launchpad and the Nega-McDuck (although in Unstoppable the job was not finished) and he never decided to trust anyone again.

Although Negaduck would not be in love with Morgana (the one from the Prime Universe), in my opinion, it seems that both Drake and he are attracted to tall, feminine women, with a touch of mystery ^^'

(and I admit, I like to think that Gosalyn is VERY overprotective of Negaduck regarding how little she knows happened between him and Nega-Morgana. In Unstoppable, she only knows that it's a possibility that the sorceress survived, and the mere idea that that witch dares to hurt the villain's feelings and play with him… It makes her become a "mama bear" with Negaduck, annoying him^^')

if there’s one thing I love about the writers of Darkwing Duck 1991 and Ducktales 2017, it’s that they keep one point consistent: anyone that was ever Darkwing Duck for a long time, whether they’re just acting or an actual hero, are in danger of losing themselves and they need loved ones (Gosalyn and Launchpad in this case) in order to keep going and ground them

i’ll touch on the others briefly but let’s talk about jim starling specifically. he has almost kind of a possessive, entitled, and selfish attachment to being darkwing, and it’s clear his ego is huge. i didn’t think of it much at first, but you can clearly see that jim starling wears his costume as his civilian clothes. he’s got the turquoise turtleneck and the signature buttons on his coat. it kinda implies that being darkwing duck IS his life, which really bodes poorly for an actor like him if he can only take one 1 role for a TV show (a show that got canceled bc of poor ratings + jim himself according to francisco angones)

it doesn’t seem like he had any other roles, so he has no life outside of darkwing duck. when a darkwing doesn’t have a life outside of just doing w/e it is, they get... ‘obsessing’ (as gosalyn puts it in the ‘91 show’s Time and Punishment)

and having no life outside of darkwing means he doesn’t really have any great personal relationships. he hates superfan #1 drake from the second he found out the younger actor took his role, and he doesn’t even call superfan #2 launchpad by name; LP to him is just his sidekick

in the end, this darkwing duck became a villain. more specifically, he became negaduck

and isn’t that just familiar? it’s similar to what happened to darkwarrior duck. in some twisted future, he thought gosalyn ran away from him and so, he became depressed for awhile until he rescued a kid that looked like gosalyn. ever since then, he resolved to be tougher on crime, and to that end, he fired launchpad from being his sidekick (sweet launchpad, the man stayed at Darkwing Tower for all those years out of a sense of loyalty) and went on a tyrannical campaign. when gosalyn came back to him, darkwarrior was more concerned with making gosalyn his sidekick than actually properly raising her and making sure she has a great childhood. this contrasts heavily with how drake mallard in the 1991 show mostly tries to stop gosalyn from being involved as much as he could for her own good (to keep her safe. heck, before she accidentally hitched a ride to the future with megavolt and quackerjack, drake explicitly forbade her from coming along with him and launchpad to confront said two supervillains). i think darkwarrior doesn’t remember what a normal life is like and frankly, doesn’t care. he threw away the identity of drake mallard and with it, the need to care for gosalyn properly as his own daughter, as well as his own relationship with launchpad

in a similar case with 1991 negaduck (the second version, the one we’re all more familiar with, he came from the negaverse), we really had no indiciation that negaduck really tried to pursue a father-daughter relationship with her. heck, it was up to nega-launchpad to get her toys and flowers, and even then, there doesn’t seem to be an emotional attachment between her and nega-launchpad either. it’s not really the same becos yk, i’m inclined to believe that og negaduck was evil since the beginning. but it does point to how parenting gosalyn properly is an indication of drake’s morality

all i’m saying is that anyone that’s ever been darkwing (or alt versions of darkwing whether they go by that name or not) need gosalyn and launchpad to keep them grounded, as well as maintaing a relationship with them. even with og drake mallard in 1991, it was implied many times that he would eventually give into his ego and gloryhounding ways and lose himself to crimefighting if it weren’t gosalyn and eventually launchpad barging into his life. he was going to drive himself mad from loneliness and isolation and the need for glory and attention from a thankless city that wasn’t going to supply him with any. and with it, he was also going to put himself in even more danger without a care about his own well-being because, well, he had no one to go back to at the end of the day after crimefighting. he was well and truly alone, and he was probably going to die painfully while crimefighting alone without gosalyn and launchpad. 

so yeah jim starling was lonely, he didn’t really care about anyone except his image and his ego, and he turned into a villain after a particularly bad day

edit: 2017 drake, on the other hand, at least symbolically dresses in a way in his civilian forme that doesn’t really imply he’s too far into the darkwing shtick. sure he wears a light violet shirt, but it’s not the shade of violet that darkwing is known for, and he also dons a smartwatch and sometimes a baseball cap and sunglasses hanging from his shirt. even 1991 drake looks very different from darkwing in his attempt to keep his two identities separate: a salmon shirt under a green argyle sweater vest.

First of all, wow. When I started to read the story, I really couldn't stop. Seriously, I’m accustomed to reading long stories in a few days if I love them very much: when I started it, you had already published 23 chapters, and I read them in three days!!

Omg! I'm used to the emotional roller coaster that all your long fics have, but I've felt pain since the first chapter.

The plot is crazy. So many plot twists (I lost count), so many painful moments (also anguish, sorrow, etc), besides the description of characters' feelings and thoughts: so powerful. That's why I also enjoyed very much those scenes of humor between all the drama (you always find the balance of genres in your fics)

SPOILER ALERT, READERS

Poor Gosalyn. She has suffered so much. All the pain, because of those horrible villains. The few moments of calm were very emotional and important.

I hate Ratigan. I hate him so much. That rat is the worst. The way he manipulates the truth with lies in order to make his victims suffer. He’s so evil. The other villain that I hate a lot is Nega-Launchpad. I felt so much pain when Gosalyn couldn’t kill him, because when she saw his face, she remembered Launchpad. And, that monster had traumatized her so much that she reacted so badly when she saw Launchpad, even though she knew that the pilot would never hurt her.

I love one of your original characters of the fic: Timothy Cratchit. I’ve become a fan of that little mouse since his first appearance. I didn’t expect the story of his past and how his parents died (Also, the connection with Living On A Prayer, my favorite fic of the Geronimo Series. That was incredible). I love so much the development of the bond of Tim and Gosalyn. I can’t wait to read more scenes of Tim with Gosalyn and other characters like Negaduck and Max.

I’ve cried a lot reading the story. Especially with two scenes:

Chapter 16: The reunion of Gosalyn and Max. I was very afraid that the incident at the hospital at the beginning of the story would damage the relationship of the couple (or at least, that their next moments would be very uncomfortable because of the memory and 'the truth' about Gosalyn). But then I read how Max never blamed her for what happened, and didn't change his opinion of her after he heard about what she was. I cried so much with his declaration of love for her, and Gosalyn’s reaction.

The ending of chapter 24. Pain. So much pain. It was like a punch in the stomach. Such painful (but also incredible) connection to the pilot of the original series. The thoughts and emotions of Gosalyn were such chaos. My heart. She had suffered a lot in the last hours, and now THAT last part of the chapter?! It was too much for her. Her last thoughts were so depressing. I want so much that Gosalyn gets her happiness back.

To sum up, a great sequel of the Geronimo Series, and great balance of genres and characters, as I always read in your fics, Zoe. I loved it. And I cannot wait to read the next chapter^^

I think most of Darkwing’s personality/charatcer is pretty explored being that he’s the Main Character and thus in every episode, he’s a hero with an ego and he’s always trying to do his best to juggle parenthood and crime fighting. He’s a good guy, we know this

but I have thoughts abt him and his relationship with Gosalyn and i think that it’s easily stated as: he would throw away his life for this girl. and again that may seem obvious but like

In “The Life, The Negaverse and Everything” he ONLY stays to help save the Negaverse for Nega Gosalyn’s sake. he’s ready to throw away the whole city to Negaduck because it’s not his problem. but then he realizes there’s a Gosalyn in this world who needs a parent, and helps her get FOUR whole parents. all for her

and the fact that when Nega Launchpad aimed a fucking launchet rocket at HIM, his first reaction wasn’t to protect HIMSELF, but to gently push Gosalyn out of the way.

basically there’s just so much evidence that Drake Mallard loves Gosalyn no matter what form she comes in and i appreciate that

EDIT:  ADDING ONTO THAT, in the paddywack episode, Darkwing tells Launchpad to save Gosalyn and not worry abotu him and that makes me emotional

Dear DWD writers: Close Negaduck’s arc!

Darkwing Duck is one of the most popular Disney heroes 90s kids can name. And in the context of his show, Negaduck is at least equally as popular a character as Darkwing himself. Everything about him fascinates us. Evil, alternate dimension dopplegangers tend to do that. But in many, if not most other superhero stories, the evil twin is either a one-shot character who just drives the plot of a single story, or is developed and explored in great depth, often acting as a reflection of the hero’s own flaws. The writers of DWD clearly went with the latter for Negaduck, even showing us his universe, and later in the comics turning him into an expert at trans-dimensional travel. Both in the show and the comics, there was so much left of Negaduck’s character to explore when each respective series was cancelled. And we the fans still have a lot of questions about our favorite evil DW! How similar is his origin story to Darkwing’s? Was his universe really spawned by the tron splitter, and if so, is it retroactive so that his universe has a complete history? What’s his relationship with his Gosalyn really like? Why did he take her as his ward? Does he care about her at all? What does he really have planned for Darkwing? How much does it involve Darkwing’s Gosalyn? Does he ever remove his mask? Does he ever use the Drake Mallard persona for any reason whatsoever, or has he completely forsaken that name, perhaps even hating to be reminded of it?

Don’t get me wrong, we are all really excited for DT17′s iteration of Negaduck, who does have a real name that he recently used, but does not come from a mirror universe. I cannot wait to see how far gone Jim Starling is and what he has planned for Drake and Launchpad, as well as whether or not there’s even a hint of a prayer for his eventual redemption. But where Jim Starling’s story arc is just beginning, Nega-Drake’s story arc is just...hanging there, completely unfinished. And fans really want to know what his ultimate fate is.

So before we get to the meat of this guy’s intriguing story...

...let’s please please PLEASE finish the OG Negsy’s story first.

character headcanon meme: Bushroot, Negaduck aaaand... Tuskerninni (because I want to throw a random curve-ball in there).

Seeing as I love Tuskerninni, this is the opposite of a problem for me. In fact, I want to start with him! But here’s some DWD thoughts coming right attcha~

TUSKERNINNI

Sexuality Headcanon: PansexualGender Headcanon: identifies as maleA ship I have with said character: Tuskerninni/Camille Chameleon. Look, hear me out: he’s a guy that’s all about the arts. He wants to direct, and what better performer is there than somebody who can literally turn into ANYTHING? What a star! A BROTP I have with said character: The fact he chills with the Fearsome Foursome and Moliarty is pretty dang precious. Honestly I think he’s just a social butterfly in general, so he has a pretty good relationship with most villains in the community. Of course, we also have to consider his penguin henchmen as his bros.A NOTP I have with said character: .... I don’t think I have any that I want to seriously consider as a NoTP. I did just try to think about him and Negaduck together, but that just made me laugh.A random headcanon: I think it would be pretty funny if he flunked out of college. Something about him being a failed theater major tickles me. I also like the idea of if not that, then maybe he used to be a movie critic for some newspaper before he got fired for being too pretentious. General Opinion over said character: I’ll ride and die for Tuskerninni, and back in the twitter rping days I had so much fun playing as him. It’s interesting how he’s marketed as one of Darkwing’s main villains, yet I hardly see people talking about him. Which is a SHAME, since everything from his mouth makes me laugh.

Sexuality Headcanon: a PAN-sy! Gender Headcanon: identifies as male--but I think there is story potential if you want to regard the transformation aspect of his backstory to include him being trans as well. Though, I haven’t wrote with that specifically in mind before. I was just thinking about it as I’m answering the question.A ship I have with said character: I like Bushroot/Liquidator the most, personally. BUT, I am also particularly fond of Bushroot/Morgana (for the recuperating villains and monster aspects) as well as Bushroot/Darkwing. Honestly you could probably write Bushroot with anybody and I’d give it a read.A BROTP I have with said character: Fearsome Foursome and Spike seems like the obvious choices... But may I also offer you a Camille Chameleon friendship in these trying times? Honestly they have pretty dang similar backgrounds that it makes me want to seem them whine about everything together.A NOTP I have with said character: I don’t actually have one. I mean, I feel like I should PROBABLY say Posey... but hey, I ain’t gonna shame the guy.A random headcanon: Reggie experiences high levels of pain once it starts getting cold-- he is a summer flower after all. I also think he gets winter depression pretty badly-- which would also account for his Grinch-like tendencies. General Opinion over said character: The two characters I feel the most kinship to happens to be Bushroot and Quackerjack... which might be saying something really bad on my part. My point being, I feel for the guy-- even though I really think he needs to start owning up to his mistakes. You can’t be playing victim while you’re going around hurting others, dawg. But that all said, I think the show was right when they mention his cuddly index being off the charts.

You should see all the women in his little black book.Gender Headcanon: identifies as maleA ship I have with said character: With his most famous booty-call of all, @mistress-negs‘s Malicia. (I like that I’m @ing you when you’re the one who sent me the ask.) I don’t see it as romantic, just that their partnership tends to benefit them both in numerous ways. A little banging here, a little criminal activity there. A BROTP I have with said character: His chainsaw, naturally. Outside of Betsy... I don’t think he’d consider Nega-Launchpad anything close to a friend, but I do think he’s probably the closest person he has to one. Somebody he trusts not to betray him... mostly because he thinks he’s too stupid to even think about it. A NOTP I have with said character: None that i know of anyway. A random headcanon: He’s possessive. He considers people things that he owns and can toss aside as he pleases. So after Darkwing went to the Negadverse and got Gosalyn into a safer home, I think that would have sparked some attempts of kidnapping Nega-Gos back. Not for love, but because of the principal of it. (Also I assume he had Nega-Gosalyn around for a reason. Like as a house slave, but I also think he’s probably trying to get the code for Professor Waddlemeyer’s ramrod.)General Opinion over said character: I think he’s fun to watch in action. But MAN, do i find his levels of nastiness hard to write for.

Has Drake ever told Gosalyn, Launchpad, or the others about his difficult relationship with his own Stellar?

Oh, this question is more or less sensible. This is my opinion as a reader, but I feel like Drake would have only made a few comments about his damaged relationship with his father. Even after the incidents with Nega-Stellar, he would have told them only some things, but not everything he experienced. Primeverse Stellar was never physically abusive from what I understand, but that doesn't mean he was a great father after his wife died…

Whether or not Drake was honest with Launchpad and Gosalyn, only @rebellingstagnationblog knows that

Negaduck and his Gosalyn have a very b:tas Joker/Harley relationship, but instead of lovers it's a father/daughter relationship. Negs is very manipulative. He doesn't let Gos give him affection unless he allows it. He makes her do chores or run errands for a pat in the head or a hug. There's a fine line between what she's allowed to do and what she's not. He neglects her a lot too, but there is a bit of him that cares for her.

Yeah, I know, it's insane. Negs caring for someone? Yeah right, Peggy.

But Negs cares for her in a possessive way. He teaches her how to work a chainsaw, how to swindle and hurt people. That sweet little girl act? He taught that to her. He wants to make her like him. A successor. Someone that could make him proud. Despite his neglect I've attitude, Negs would protect her if she got in danger. Danger being in the hands of someone good.

So when the Friendly Five take her away, he gets extremely angry. He marches over there with Nega!Launchpad and he beats them all within an inch of their lives and he takes his little girl back. "I don't like people taking my things." he says, grabbing his girl and pulling her behind him.  

He's a terrible person yes, but he's not a horrible father.

What's Nega-Duck's relationship to Nega-Launchpad? If Darkwing and Launchpad are married in the regular world, what's their relationship in the nega-verse? Considering it seems, he does go to and live in Nega-Duck's house.

Negaduck and N!LP’s relationship is MUCH MUCH MUCH different than their prime versions. Negs picked him up after his boss tried to have him killed. The two then worked together for a bit, but Launchpad is not Negs’ sidekick. He doesn’t take him to the prime verse whenever he goes there, he leaves him to take care of Gosalyn. LP is only brought into the picture when Negaduck needs the extra muscle.

And are they in love? Probably not.
