I know I've mentioned Bolo being cake in Portuguese (and the mispronounced Bola being Ball) but Idk if people know Porco, from Patia's surname, means Pig in Portuguese (and other romantic languages that use it as an alternative word for it) and I wish Marisha had talked more about it, if it was intentional or not.
Hi! Can I ask you a question about France? How common or uncommon or weird is the use of coucou as a greeting? Especially between adults. Would it be super weird if I went to France and greeted someone like that?
I don't trust the click-baity articles that show up when I google this (I'm not even sure all of them were written by humans), so I'd rather ask someone that, you know, actually lives over there.
Thanks, have a nice day
Hi! Coucou is a pretty common greeting including between adults (though it's more often used by women as it does sound a bit cutesy), but I think it implies pre-established friendly relations, unlike the neutral Bonjour or Salut. I only use it with family and friends. Friendly acquaintances too—okay now that I think about it, it's hard to say where I draw the coucou line. I use it as a greeting when I enter the library if there's no one in there but the librarian because I know her well, but if there are other people in the room I say bonjour even if they're children. And of course if I knew the librarian very well but didn't like her she wouldn't get a coucou. You kind of have to follow your heart with this greeting.
But definitely don't use it to greet people in a shop or formal context or anyone you don't know well because that would be weird (in my view!) Coucou sounds affectionate, I often use it in writing to set the tone ("Hi I am an informal unthreatening email !") (also if a French person sends you a text that starts with Cc, that's textspeak for coucou)
To me "Salut !" is "Hi!" while "Coucou" is Hi :) <3
♪ miles's [ ds nightmare's ] & vick's [ ds cross's ] themes - the Few
these two are the smallest batch, mainly because I never really latched onto either of their themes, or felt like they were as suited to them as the others. I feel like there might have been some other attempts at variations, but I can't find them anywhere.
[cygnet and honoré are from fifteenth-century britain and france, aquilillus, flavia magna, and bán are from second-century britain, and cipachcoatzin is from sixteenth-century mesoamerica]
So I was drawing Red being a little kid along side Rubert and I thought "Hey what if i made a silly au were they are little kids and siblings?" And then I remember how I fell down a rabbit hole for dad Mango content so–
Mango becomes Papa luchon! >:]
(And Gold is alive too and Purple is Mango adopted child)
idk how Red found Rubert cause Minecraft doesn't really exits but he's here! Let's say they live in stickcity with a few changes
I'm gonna keep some of my hc's of the sticks in the au but they're siblings here so NO shipping, also they're like 8 so– no
In conclusion, just a silly au with family fluff like, there's no big angsty lore behind it ;)
And you know, if you had a little question then you can– you can ask -twirl hair-
First time in months that I just doodle fanart for the fun of it and it’s because I’m obsessed??? with A Ballad of Scarlet and Wine and in the new chapter the wonderful author did some awesome art for Gato and Lobo’s designs and I fell in love!!!!!!! If it’s your thing you have to read it!
So... I had to doodle them!
Also I’ve been playing Bloodborne daily and my hunter has the Cainhurst Knights attire and... I love side capes. In all cultures, I love side capes. Love them.
My favorite track from the 1965 album 'From All Sides' featuring pianist Vince Guaraldi and guitarist Bola Sete. While Sete's guitar is wonderful it's Guaraldi's piano playing that makes this song for me. While I'm not deeply familiar with the various versions of 'A Taste of Honey' (which was written for a Broadway play based on a British play and then eventually made into a movie all under the same name), I was into this version before I knew there was history behind it. I just dug the song and the blending of Latin music with American jazz.
If the name of Vince Guaraldi sounds familiar to you, it's probably because he composed the music for the Peanuts television specials and his piece, 'Linus and Lucy' (originally composed for a shelved Peanuts documentary), became almost synonymous with the name Charlie Brown.
When I was a 20 something buying 'From All Sides', I had no idea who Vince Guaraldi or Bola Sete was. I had no idea that Guaraldi already occupied a space in my grey matter with that iconic piano piece from 'A Charlie Brown Christmas'. I had never bothered to find out who was behind that music. It was surprising to me when I finally asked myself, "Who wrote that Charlie Brown music?" only to see the name Vince Guaraldi.
Life is a continuous journey of learning people as long as you remain curious and open to being taught.
This is a small taste of what my Botw fan comic will be about – why Link (especially pre-calamity) doesn't speak much, if at all!
My personal headcanon for his quiet nature is much deeper, but the idea that Link just refuses to speak because he doesn't fw certain villagers is so fucking funny I couldn't resist drawing this ☠️
my favourite head cannon is miquella said to mohg first "you are mine and mine alone" which sort of imprinted in mohg's mind and became his inner voice (in Latin probably)
also what if he only speaks Latin because it's considered sewer language in Leyndell like all the nobles were taught in English and Japanese etc. only the poorest most tormented fuckers recite Metamorphoses
If you ever feel like some of your headcanons are "bad" bc it wouldn't make ""enough sense"" in canon for anyone other than you just remember I started to headcanon Pluto (from the Nevermore webtoon) as TRANSFEM and mentally made a number of several points on how It could make any kind of sense storywise .just purely because I can. Nothing else. It actually does NOT make sense in canon in any way OTHER than in my !! delusional plot holed mind. Still I really seem to like it and apparently cannot get it out of my head at all so it is what it is ig
