Rewatching Prodigal Son while waiting for this melatonin to work. This show was borderline camp, given how unhinged Malcolm Bright was played, the bug eyes, the tieing to the bed, the outcrazing serial killers to catch them.... It was wild. A real shame, the cast had a lot of charm. I wish it had gotten one more renewal.

Starting ffxv, watching the intro sequence: this is gonna be so fun, I can't wait to go on a fun road trip with my new friends! I was just wondering, do movies made in one Latin American county also market to other Latin American countries? For example, you’re from Columbia, how likely would you be to watch a movie from let’s say, Argentina? Or does each country’s movie industry keep to its own country?

Hmm that's a pretty interesting question because I have no idea lol

I think it depends on a lot of things, let's say Mexican movies specially comedies regarding either the revolution or westerns were pretty popular here and we can still see them on certain tv channels.

I think most of the movies we see on the movie theater are just the ones from Hollywood or well the mainstream media if you want to call it that. Now, there's a lot of movie festivals (at least in the capital) where we can see international movies and that's where one gets to see what other Latin American countries are up to in their movie industry, the ones I've seen have been from Bolivia, Argentina and Chile.

The movie industry here is pretty weak. Most of the movies produced in Colombia are either presented in international cinema festivals like "The embrace of the serpent" (though that one was a co-produced between Venezuela, Argentina and Colombia) or don't gain too much recognition because of the specific topics they talk about (social critique, the violence and nature) or because they are really bad movies (aka the comedies my gosh they're pretty bad)

There's also like a barrier (more of less though it's not that direct) when it comes to entertainment content that originates from Venezuela, since our country has a rather difficult relation with them, though the old telenovelas used to be from Venezuela.

omg so i'm typing my accidental novella, right, and i'm at a part in alces' POV, and LAST time i wrote anything in alces' POV, it was Right When He Got Adopted Into Kazan Fam, so he referred to the Adult Kazans as "grigori-grisha" and "nikolai-kolya" and "natalya-nat" (because lucius uses the full first names at oasis but everyone else uses the diminutives because they're home and fam, obvi, it's a russian thing, go with it--the point is alces Wasn't Sure What To Call These People, or How Familiar To Be).
