Drew this with a fancy drawing pen that was left at the server station at work… Does this drawing even belong to me then if the ink used wasn’t for my hand in the first place?

The thing Disney fundamentally misunderstands about The Muppets is that they are never going to be a tentpole franchise. You are never going to build a M(uppet)CU.
They are less an IP then an immortal comedy troupe. If you could use, idk, Richard Pryor, Robin Williams, George Carlin etc etc in perpetuity do you try to set them up with a shared universe? No! You give them a stand up/late nite/sketch show to show off their talents! You give them cameos in your other projects!

A late nite sketch. I haven’t drawn anything for the past few weeks due to being busy moving and settling in new apt. Also I’m fairly new to digital drawing so that only adds to the struggle of getting some rust off of my joints. I’ve made it a goal this year to do more digital work especially if it involves MK or other kind of fan art. Now that I’m finally done with the moving I can resume other projects that I have put on hold. Look forward to more stuff from me now, it’s nice to be back!

I had a flashback to "humor in the 1990s" tonight and just thought of shows I used to like / will remember or even look up and still laugh at that "kids these days" would find incredibly problematic. Hell, a lot of the humor back then is exactly the kind of stuff that could get you cancelled (especially here on tumblr) today. I remember in seventh and eight grade, it wasn't just the students, but some of the TEACHERS at my school who would make jokes about dead cult members (the Waco standoff happened at that time) and about Jeffery Dahmer's murder-victims (that was in the news, too). TV shows? Saturday Nite Live used to have a skit called "It's Pat!" - the ENTIRE JOKE, the ENTIRE FUCKING JOKE was "We do not know what gender Pat is." I think I saw one or two of these sketches? I didn't want SNL much? The Pat-sketches were made up entirely of people trying to find out whether the very androgynous, nerdy-looking Pat is a man or a woman. That was a source of humor back then. Now when I look back on it... (even assuming that Pat was cis) people hovering around you trying to judge your gender is... pretty creepy? I used to watch In Living Color - the Wayne Bros. minority-answer to SNL with only a couple of token white people. While from a minority perspective, some of their sketches were... would not fly today material. I remember one sketch making fun of Princess Diana's depression and suicidal issues. (A personal ick for me...when Iook back on it). There was a superhero character called "Handi-Man" who was a disabled superhero who was a champion of disabled people (but the humor was incredibly ableist). There was a recurring sketch about a homeless man that made fun of his situation... It was... funny at the time? I laughed then - as a kid? But nowadays, I feel kind of icky - and feel like "Yeah, it's best if people don't try to make stuff like that today." I used to also watch something called The Edge that was on Fox. It was... very twisted. Lots of humor revolving around gruesome, bloody violence (in a fake blood and gore way), but it was still... wow, I used to love that show and I guess that's why I'm so twisted in my humor today. I do think one recurring sketch would be relevant today, though: "The Armed Family" which was about a family of gun-nuts. They'd wind up spooking each other or mistaking each other for home intruders and shooting each other all the time (but coming out with "only flesh wounds" or "Good thing your Dad gave me this bulletproof vest for Christmas!") - Speaking of Christmas, probably their funniest sketch was the one where they killed Santa Claus (home invader)! It ended with a track of children crying. *Chef's kiss!* I mean... that is STILL funny to me, but I can't help but think of how "That...probably couldn't be made today." Then again, Robot Chicken is a recent thing and has that dark kind of humor... I guess I just thought if some people cannot take anime-light-perv humor that was common in the 1990s when they watch old anime, hoooo boy should they stay the Hell away from 1990s late night American sketch-humor.

WIP Wthursday
@kookaburra1701 tagged me over on my main blog, yay! I've been fooling around with some one-shots featuring other Sylvieverse characters, so here's a little something featuring my Harbinger girl Amaal.
Amaal at-Zakana regarded herself in the mirror with satisfaction. She flattered herself that she’d put together the perfect first-impression ensemble: a cream-colored linen shirt with no traveling stains, a light blue waistcoat that contrasted stylishly with her warm brown complexion, trousers with a dozen pockets for notebooks, sketching materials, and snacks. There wasn’t much she could do about her boots, which were ten years old and caked in mud, but at least they proved she wasn’t afraid of a little mess. “You can do this,” she told her reflection sternly. “You’re smart, you work hard, and you can get along with anyone. They’d be idiots not to take you.” It helped, a little. She patted her dark curls into place, shot the mirror a wink, and made her way downstairs to the Bannered Mare’s common room.
Tagging @dirty-bosmer, @late-nite-scholar, and @snowberry-crostata!

Tim & Eric Nite Live #4: “Cyber Monday” | November 27, 2007 - 10:00PM | S01E04
NOTE: The episode titles I’ve been using for this come from thetvdb.com and I have no idea from where they originated.
Another very memorable Nite Live. So far all these episodes are fairly comparable to one another. All of them have very strong, hilarious moments to relish. I love relishing things.
Tim and Eric begin by talking about online shopping and the then-new concept of Cyber Monday, an online shopping holiday. Tim got Eric the pathetic gift of a six-month trial membership to a Michael Douglas website. Tim gives Eric advice for when the six months are up: “You can download those pictures so you don’t even have to go back to the site!”. These boys are always on the make. Eric buys Tim a Man Doll: a full-sized handsome man. Tim seems a little wary but ultimately positive about the whole thing after Eric shows him a few photos of his toy in transit. “It’s a fake man that I could spend time with!” Tim says. Eric eventually shows one product photo too many, showing that he’s got a big old TIm and a couple of erics between those trunks. “I don’t think I’ll need that part” Tim says, skeptically. Such a fucking hilarious moment.
Tim and Eric also treat Richard Dunn and Tanese Gray to a romantic dinner in an attempt to jumpstart a romantic relationship. Tim and Eric ask Dunn if he brought Tanese a romantic gift. He did not, but they prompt him to check his breast pocket (they’ve clearly hooked him up). He pulls out a tacky looking piece of costume necklace with a dollar sign medallion. Very funny bit. George Kerr makes a return appearance, pretending to play violin to a pre-recorded record.
Our first interview guest is Ben Hur, the announcer of the show. He’s a very unspectacular man who, despite lack of tan, seems to be in the late stages of having got too much sun. Eric shows off footage of him dancing culled from previously shot footage, and you can hear him genuinely giggle on the hot mic, instructing the editor to keep the interminable footage playing. It’s another great moment. We’ll join Ben Hur later on for a dramatic performance from a play called “The Italian Restaurant”.
We get another David Liebe Hart song, a romantic one, to help lubricate Gray and Dunn’s burgeoning relationship. It’s pretty typical stuff from him. This is done at the expense of George Kerr, whom DLH can be seen mocking in a cutaway by miming playing the violin. That moment might be Hart at his most likable. The fact that he could harmlessly goof on another cast member without intimating that they are demonic pedofiles is pretty nice.
The thing that’s nice about Tim & Eric Nite Live is they produced content for it; little videos and stuff, that are unique to this show. They’ll sorta remind you of Awesome Show sketches, but less-elaborate, and it evokes the small-time comedy they made before they had a major outlet for it on television. It’s like if Spieleberg kept directing episodes of Columbo and Night Gallery after becoming a Box Office Bunny. This episode features a music video that’s meant to inspire the online shoppers out there by naming various dumb brands and products. Mervyns Gift Card is among them; at the time Mervyns was rapidly closing stores and would be completely out of business by 2009 . This sketch probably wouldn’t appear on Awesome Show just for clearance issues alone.
Speaking of Awesome Show, Danny Mothers makes another appearance in the Tim & Eric universe, talking about Christmas movies. Danny Mothers is played by Bob Odenkirk, playing a sweetly retarded man who was sorta made BOBsolete because of the similar but more popular Steve Brule. On Cinema becoming a thing was the final nail in the coffin. This might be his swan song, unless I’m forgetting about anything after this. This one is filled with hilarious moments, and the slideshow Danny is working off of goes a little haywire. It seems sorta unplanned, and you can see a teensy little bit of Bob’s frustration bubbling through.
We get two big show-stoppers: Ben Hur performing the aforementioned scene from “The Italian Restaurant”. Hur is awful, and this is another one of those squirmy moments. He seems ill-prepared and a little confused with his delivery, and this is absolutely the intended effect. This seems a little mean spirited; asking a guy who is patently not an actor to perform for them and have him look foolish? I don’t think you can make a moral argument for this. But goddamn, I love stuff like this.
DLH ends the show with a prayer of some kind, and he just goes off the rails in spots. He does that classic crazy guy thing of just saying nonsense words that rhyme with what he’s saying. When you hear him say “sins and bins” you know we’re watching the genuine article.
